only had 1 criticial fix over 5.8.0, so no reason to sit on it any longer)

Also please check out the new builds on GitHub and let me know what you think.
We're using github actions now to do the builds instead of maintaining a legacy 
 jenkins server.  The builds now up as releases on github now with a  
"prerelease" label.  We should have builds for ubuntu-2204, debian-11,  
debian-12 and windows 32bit.
