My electric bill is around 400ish and I too have static IP through Comcast. When was the last time you negotiated the contract? I keep renewing mine without doing any checking, and the last renew was a few weeks ago. Turns out the plan I was on was being retired. It was 300/25 for $220. They looked into what I can move to, and got me a "Gigabit Extra" (can't recall if it's 1 or 1.5 Gbps) for the same freaking price. Made me a little annoyed wondering how long that plan was available; how long was I paying for 300 meg when I could've had a gig? lol But yea, I was a lot happier spending that money now that I'm getting over a gig. I really need to start scaling back hardware so I can save on the electric bill. I should look into ESX. I currently have a Dell 4210 rack with all my servers as actual hardware.
