I had a very similar experence earlier this year.  My wife really wanted me to 
go to one of our local bars that had some band that played lots of older songs 
that she used to dance to back in the day..  That scared me right away, since I 
don't dance.

I "managed" through it and was a good sport.  I also got home and listened to 
some Lamb of God to clear my head.  :)

Me too.  I used to ONLY listen to metal.  I have expanded over the years and do 
appreciate other forms of music.  Mostly country, but am ok with song 
occational top-40 classics.  

In High School my playlist consisted of Suicidal Tendencies, Slayer, Celtic 
Frost, Exodus, Overkill, Forbidden, and plenty of other trash bands..
