However I did take the time to actually translate the VMS instead of just playing around with it. Most of the menus in it ARE IN ENGLISH!... but in a phonetic alphabet called katakana. I suggest anyone importing games learn it. Anything in quotes is a Japanese word translated to English, if it's wrong email me. 1.A Data System (Press the Sleep Button) The first thing that appears is the title screen, that should be easy enough to understand. Press the Mode Button until the Notepad is highlighted at the bottom. Hit the A button a second screen shows: ----------------- * "Remaining" XXX * How many game save slots left * Game XXX * Game slots available for mini game (?) * * * * ++++++++++++++++ (Note, the kana is printed slightly wrong on ge-mu, or I'm on crack) 1.B Menu Controls: Up/Down, cycles through game files Right, forward a screen Left or B, back a screen 1.C File Screens The first screen tells you what game you are looking at. EXAMPLE: ------------- * no 001/007 * File Number (number one of seven) * SONICADV * Name of File, usually the same as game * _SYS * * 99/04/20 * Date the file was modified, YY/MM/DD +++++++++++++ Next screen is a description of the file, I am not going to take the time (well the money to buy..)to translate every game description but maybe I can do a few At the bottom of that screen it says DATA> The third screen is the data screen. ------------ * *Copy * * *"Erase" * * A:"Yes" * * B:"No" * ++++++++++++ 1.D Manipulating data Copying a File: + Select the file, go to the data screen. + Press A on COPY + The cursor will be highlighting "iie" or no. Press Left, then A. + Connect the VMS' and press A NOTE:You must link two VMS' together in order to copy a file. Two identical files can NOT exist on one VMS. Erasing a File: + Select the file, go to the data screen. + Press A on ERACE + The cursor will be highlighting "iie" or no. Press Left, then A. That's about it for file systems. 2.Mini Games Press Mode to select the cards at the bottom of the screen, then press A. If you don't have a Mini Game downloaded, it will say: ge-mu ga arimasen, which means "there is no game" If you have one press A + B to start it.. then check out another FAQ for how to play it, they already exist, check miningco.! 3. The Clock By the time you've decided you want this FAQ you've already set the clock. I haven't found out how to set it again.. Except you can set it with the Dreamcast's clock in the Bios. Further: Except for playing the Mini Game, all of these operations can be done with the Dreamcast in the Bios under File. To come: Game descriptions.
