Phantasy Star Online E-Access Download Quest A Helpfile by Henry LaPierre freeza@ix.netcom.com Version 1 April 10th, 2001 Copyright (c) 2001 Henry LaPierre This help file covers the Japanese Phantasy Star Online E-Access Download Quest. In order to play this quest, your game's language must be set to Japanese. As with the other quests, the save file need not be on the same VMU (memory card) as your character. The object of this quest is to track down a Splitter and an ADSL Modem/Broadband Adapter (which of these last two you will need to find "may" depend on how you connect to Phantasy Star Online) for the three scientists aboard the Pioneer 2. In order to accomplish this task, you'll need to enter Level 2 of the Mines via the main teleporter aboard the Pioneer 2, then spy on the scientists who are working there to see which of them is in league with a renegade Hunter and Ranger. The maps used during this quest are the same as the maps used in the regular quest, "The Unsealed Door". ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Section 1, The Play Guide: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Begin the quest by talking to the scientist closest to the Hunter's Guild counter. He will tell you to find a Splitter and an ADSL Modem/Broadband Adapter for him, as well as give you an E-Access Manual (this appears in your Quest Board inventory). After learning this, use the Pioneer 2's main teleporter to warp to Level 2 of the Mines. Once there, access Terminal 1 (choose Yes, the top choice, when prompted to flip the switch on the terminal's monitor) to open the two locked doors so that you may continue further into the Mines. From this point on, using specific terminals will allow you to patch into the Mine's remote camera system. Upon accessing the correct terminal at the correct time you will be shown a cut-scene and be able to progress further into the quest. Now that you have access to the western half of Level 2 of the Mines, your task is now to spy on the three scientists who are there, to see which of them is siding with the traitors. The scientist in question is the one indicated by the blue cursor on the in-game Area Map. To catch him in the act, access the following terminals while he is in the following locations: Terminal to Access Location of Blue Scientist Terminal 2 Warp F Room Terminal 4 Warp A/Terminal 3 Area Terminal 7 Warp E/Terminal 6 Room In order to make the scientists move so that you can get the blue indicated one to the proper locations, you can use any of these next three methods: 1. Talk to any of the scientists and tell them to go about their business (talking to any of the scientists will bring up two choices, Top: Go about your business, and Bottom: Accuse the scientist). 2. Use any of the terminals to spy on a scientist via a remote camera. 3. Return to the Pioneer 2 (this method has a low rate of success) Spying on him (the scientist represented by the blue icon) will allow you to fulfill the requirements needed to help in your unlocking the door that Terminal 1's camera shows, which leads to the teleporter to Level 1 of the Mines. If you "do not" wish to enter Level 1 of the Mines, and ultimately attempt to win one of the rare weapons, you need only approach the scientist (marked by the blue icon) and "Accuse" him in each of the two sections of Level 2 of the Mines to get the necessary items from him. Once you have spied on him (the blue indicated scientist) at the three locations, seek him out and talk to him. You will again be presented with the two choices, but instead of telling him to go about his business like you did before -- "Accuse" him. This will prompt him to attack you, and upon his defeat he will give you the Splitter. The Splitter will now appear in your Quest Board inventory alongside the E-Access Manual. With the Splitter now in your possession, head for the central room on Level 2 of the Mines which previously had a photon gate barring you from progressing to the Eastern side of the level. Once there, you will not only find that the gate has been de-activated, but you will see the renegade Hunter and Ranger. After listening to their conversation, continue on (you'll stop to listen once again upon reaching the opposite side of the central room) until you reach the eastern half of Level 2 of the Mines. Here, as you did with the western section, you'll need to spy on the scientist indicated by the blue icon in three locations by using three more of the terminals. They are as follows: Terminal to Access Location of Blue Scientist Terminal 10 S-Shaped Room Terminal 9 The Hall between the Warp I Room and the S-Shaped Room Terminal 8 The Cryo Room Upon talking to the scientists in order to get them to move, you will first be given a choice of three topics of information, 1. Splitter, 2. ADSL Modem, and 3. Broadband Adaptor. After choosing one of those, and hearing a little about your selection (the answers to the questions you will be asked on Level 1 of the Mines and during the battle with De Rol Le in the Underground Water Channel can be learned through these choices and by talking to the sceintists in the Hunter's Guild on the Pioneer 2), you will be given the familiar "Go about your business" and "Accuse the Scientist" selections. Choose "Go about your business to get them to change their current positions. Similar to how it transpired in the western section, spying on him while he is the designated areas will fulfill the requirements needed to aid in your unlocking the sealed door leading to teleporter to Level 1 of the Mines. Once you have viewed him (the scientist with the blue icon) at these three locations, seek him out and talk to him as you did in the western section. After the information selection (don't advance the text too rapidly here, or you may unknowingly make your next choice), choose to "Accuse" him. This will again prompt him to attack you, which will get you the ADSL Modem upon your victory. The ADSL Modem will appear in your Quest Board inventory alongside the E-Access Manual and the Splitter. With both the Splitter and the ADSL Modem now in your possession, the quest is officially cleared. But... If you wish to continue on and attempt to win one of the rare weapons as your prize, instead of now going back to the Hunter's Guild to collect your reward, at this point, head to Terminal 3 and use it to spy on the three scientists who have now gathered in the central room where the photon gate was previously. After you've accomplished this, return to the sealed door in the eastern section of Level 2 of the Mines, and once you are in front of it, inspect the E-Access Manual located in the Quest Board of your Item Pack Menu. With it's reading, the three scientists all chant together, "E-!!" - "AC!!" - "CESS!!", after which the ground trembles and the sealed door opens, allowing you access to the teleport to Level 1 of the Mines. Level 1 of the Mines invloves far less backtracking then you did on the level below. Here you'll merely need to progress to the teleport leading to the boss chamber. Along the way you'll encounter three small drones (like the ones you sometimes find floating in the small treasure rooms throughout the Mines) who will each ask you a question. Answer correctly and you may proceed. The answers to the three questions are as follows (for some reason, the drones may not always be visible, but if you approach the center of the rooms they are in, you will target lock onto them: Drone English Question I.D. Answer Drone 1 E-Access ADSL 5,500 yen X) False Drone 2 Internet Service (ADSL) 1.5Mbps ISDN 64 kbps 3) 24 Drone 3 ADSL 2) Analog In between Drones 2 and 3 you will reach the central room of Level 2 of the Mines. Here you will have to battle the rogue Hunter and Ranger. After defeating them (you need only defeat the Ranger), continue on in search of Drone 3. After you've answered the questions of the three drones correctly, seek out the teleport leading to the Underground Water Channel and the final battle with De Rol Le. During your battle with De Rol Le you will be asked timed questions once every minute or so (the longer you take to defeat De Rol Le, the more questions you'll be asked, but don't worry, there are only three different questions, so if you take longer, they will just repeat in order. You still need to answer them correctly even upon their second occurance to get the rare weapon though). If you answer each question you are asked correctly until you have defeated De Rol Le, you will be awarded a rare weapon based on the difficulty your game is currently set to (if you answer a question incorrectly, you will be paralyzed for roughly 10 seconds. If you are killed and return to De Rol Le, it will act as if it is a normal battle with it and not ask you any questions... therefore no rare weapon will be awarded with it's defeat). Also, make sure that you do not have 30 items in your inventory upon going into the battle with De Rol Le, as if you win the weapon, it is "given" to you, not found in a crate. Therefore, no space - equals no weapon. The questions and answers for the De Rol Le battle are as follows: English Question I.D. Answer ADSL in what area Choose 2) Answer in Kanji ADSL e-Access Choose 3) E-Access E-Access Provider Choose 1) OCN After the battle, return to the Hunter's Guild aboard the Pioneer 2 to collect the rest of your reward, the E-Access Phantasy Star Online Original Website. Completing the entire quest will involve defeating De Rol Le in the Underground Water Channel above Level 1 of the Mines, as well as answering several questions correctly. The rewards are as follows: E-Access web site End the quest after finding the Splitter and ASDL Modem/Broadband Adaptor on Level 2 of the Mines Chain Sawd Defeat De Rol Le along with answering all the questions correctly while on Normal Mode Flame Visit Defeat De Rol Le along with answering all the questions correctly while on Hard Mode. Sting Tip Defeat De Rol Le along with answering all the questions correctly while on Very Hard Mode. As with the regular quests you may only acquire one of each weapon per character.
