It hasn't been very long since its formation, so it's not unreasonable, but...... we have to do something about it...... Let's see...... How can I teach them teamwork, I wonder......? == LIPS 3.1 Start == -- Option 1 - Have special battle training. -- -- Option 2 - For now, talk it over with them. -- -- Option 3 - Go ahead and have some fun. -- -- Time Over -- == -- Option 1 -- Ogami: How about doing some special battle training......? But if I were to tell them to do special training, they might just complain. Hmm...... I need a way to have them undergo training naturally...... How about having them all have some fun together? If I make it into a game, it won't feel like training...... And they might be able to learn some teamwork while enjoying themselves. -- Option 2 -- Ogami: For now, how about we talk it over......? But Glycine won't listen seriously to what I have to say...... Hmm...... I need a way to have them undergo training naturally...... How about having them all have some fun together? Coquelicot: Is so that everyone can have...... some fun? Glycine: Are you sane!? Ogami: Yeah, it's not so bad every once in a while, is it? Today I'll teach you some Japanese games. Erica: Really!? Mr. Ogami, you're fantastic! Coquelicot: Yay!! Ichiro, let's go right away! Come on, Glycine, you too, quickly!! Glycine: R- right...... Ogami: Come on, shall we go outside? Let's go, Glycine. * * * Glycine: Daruma-san...... has fallen over.{1} Erica: Wah, I- I moved! Eheheh, Coquelicot, sorry. Glycine: (Why should someone such as myself, counted as one of the highest nobles even in France, have to stoop to playing a commoner's game such as this......?) This game is dull! Ogami: All right...... In that case, how about 'kick the can'? Glycine: Coquelicot...... I've found you...... Erica: Toh!! Coquelicot: Glycine's 'it' again. This is the tenth time. Glycine: I've had enough! Kicking a can is not appropriate for a noble like myself!! Coquelicot: Well then, how about this? This racket's really pretty with this picture painted on it. Ogami: Yeah, 'badminton,' huh...... It's sort of like tennis, so it might suit you better, Glycine. Glycine: ......Oh, really? Coquelicot: Let's go, Erica!! Erica: Arya! It hit the ground...... Now I'll have to get ink painted on my face again.{2} Coquelicot: Now then, here's a nice big 'X'......there. Erica's no good at all...... She doesn't even come close to competing with me. Hey, Ichiro, you're Japanese, so you're good at badminton, right? It's kind of embarrassing to be praised like that. == Untimed LIPS 3.1 End == Coquelicot: Who should I play with next......? I've already beaten Erica...... Hey, Glycine, let's play. It's really fun! Glycine: Hmph...... Fine, then. Coquelicot: There!! Glycine: K-...... Coquelicot: Okay, you lose, Glycine! Now then, I'm going to paint ink on your face. Glycine: Stop it! I've had enough!! Just how much longer must we continue these foolish games before you are satisfied!?! Ogami: Glycine, what have you been so angry about all this time? Glycine: All of these Japanese games are so simple and require not an inkling of intelligence. Just playing them is a waste of time!! Only western games that are both intelligent and dignifed are worthy of me. I can't play these vulgar Japanese games! Coquelicot: That's not true - a game is a game. It doesn't matter whether it's Japanese or western! Ogami: Coquelicot's right. What's important is having fun. Instead, you should get rid of those prejudices of yours. Glycine: Prejudices, you say! You would go that far!! In that case, I too have an idea! I challenge you to a duel! Erica: A duel!? When you say "duel," you mean that sort of duel? Glycine: That's right. If I win, I will calmly do as you wish. However, should I win...... I will make you my servant. I will teach you what shame is! Now then, you will come to the dueling ground at my home. Ogami: Fine, lead the way. -- Option 2 - First, let's talk this over...... -- Ogami: First, let's talk this over...... Glycine-: Silence!! Those who do not accept a duel when challenged are the most contemptuous of all! Ogami: B- but...... Glycine: I have no interest in what you have to say!! Make your preparations and face the battle! Ogami: All right, fine then. Glycine: The match will continue until one or the other is unable to fight. You are free to use whatever weapon you choose. Choose whatever you like from what we have here. I shall use this axe, which is a favorite of mine. Ogami: In that case, I'll use the same thing. W- we're going to fight...... in a place like this......? It's pretty high up...... Erica: So that neither Mr. Ogami nor Glycine may become injured...... God, please protect those two. Coquelicot: Give it your best, give it your best, Ichiro! Get that ol' Glycine!! Glycine: Have you prepared yourself......? Ogami: Yeah, anytime you're ready. Glycine: Then...... I challenge you! Glycine: Hmph - that one seems a rather unkempt maid indeed. Ogami: Glycine! TAREBUU: How dare you address the Mistress without her title!! You are to call her "Lady Glycine!" Glycine: I don't care, forget about it. Oh, and TAREBUU, there will be two more newcomers arriving as well. They should have already arrived at the mansion, but...... Erica: Owww! I've fallen down!! (Other versions no doubt exist.) The 'daruma' is a doll of a round shape, without limbs, said to represent the Buddhist priest Dharma (founder of the Zen sect). It is usually painted red and has a low center of weight, so that it rights itself when you lay it on its side. In this game, the person who is 'it' (the 'oni' or 'ogre') recites the line 'Daruma-san ga koronda' ('the daruma has fallen over'). During this time, the 'oni' has his or her back to the other players who are attempting to tag the 'oni' from behind. However, once the 'oni' reaches the word 'koronda,' he or she turns around, at which point the other players must cease movement or they are 'out.' {2} Apparently, in the Japanese version of badminton ('hanetsuki'), the winner gets to paint crosses or circles on the loser's face in black ink. {3} Another name I don't know the proper romanization for. {4} Here Ogami pokes fun at TAREBUU's manner of speaking, in which she ends nearly every sentence with 'zamasu,' which is sort of a mutated contraction of 'gozaimasu,' a very formal form of the verb 'to be.' {5} Cream-filled French pastries. {6} The priest, not her biological father. {7} Another play on words. The expression Ambassador Sakomizu uses to ask Ogami to leave, "seki wo hazusu," literally means "to remove [one's] seat." Thus, if this option is selected, Ogami will (presumably) literally remove a chair from the room. Ironically, a similar pun in English would have the opposite figurative meaning ("take a seat" meaning figuratively "sit down"). -eof-
