Revision History ========================== 1. General Info / Controls ========================== Hello. My name is Omega Cosmo. I enjoy writing stuff. There's my profile for the lot of you :D. Anyhow, now you might think "ZERO?! WTF?! THE GUY IS A BOSS! YOU CAN'T PLAY HIM!", well, duh, you can. And there are two ways to do this. 1) For Arcade, change the dipswitches in your machine. (See separate FAQ's for that) 2) Play KOF 2000 for emulator and use a trainer. The trainer I used to play Zero can be obtained at www.kofonline.com. It works for the Kawaks emulator aswell. Unzip the trainer into your /Cheats folder, load the game, enter 'Games' enter 'Cheats', choose to change any of your characters and scroll down the list, find Zero at the bottom. Have fun! To the Neo Geo freaks: SHUT UP! Don't send me mails about me being an asshole for having the nerve on playing this game on an emu, use a trainer, and make an FAQ for the boss to it. I have my rights aswell. I can be a goddamn SNK fan if I want too, cus I do not want to waste 5000 bucks on a machine and then 400 per game just because SNK is dying. SNK rocks, and I grieve their death, but when I get an opportunity to play their games for free, of course I take it. (And besides, come to Sweden and see how big the chance of finding a Neo Geo are) Pro's : + He is the best and cheapest character in the game. Con's : - Lag after some of his moves, other than that, none. Explanation: He's the boss. SNK tone up their bosses ALOT! And since it's a trainer, no tone down took place. So when playing with Zero against a friend which doesn't use Zero, be nice so you don't get into a ~real~ fight. Finally, reading this FAQ, I assume you know all the basic controls and other things you need to know to play King of Fighters 2000. Just to insure that I won't get mails in which I can read "What is that and what is that..." If you wanna know how to play the game, there are other FAQ's for that purpose. Detailed Move List ===================== =Normal Commands= Nage When close, b / f + C or D =========================================================================== Jagai Kusetsu f + A A nimble and extremely strong blow is launched against the opponent. As most of Zero's attacks, it does ridiculous damage and is fast. It's also an instant knockdown. Use it when the enemy is turning into a pest. [I'd rather do a C > *Any special move* combo when I'm close to my foe though] =========================================================================== =Special Attacks= =========================================================================== Zankaze Enpa: Ouga qcf + A 6 Hits Zero's launcher cape swipe. It comes out fast, has very smooth animation and deals ridiculous damage out of the 6 hits it grants. It's also a launcher, so you may combo off it when the enemy falls down. (Although it's VERY hard and needs practice to succeed with) =========================================================================== =========================================================================== Zankaze Enpa: Shouha qcf + C 7 Hits A smooth and damaging cape swipe. It does more damage than the Ouga, but is also a bit slower. (Although the range is much better) Very hard to combo off. (I dare you to try it) =========================================================================== =========================================================================== Zankaze Enpa: Hankyou f,d,df + A 7 Hits Zero's low angle anti air. A fast somersault swipe, in which the enemy is caught in a "chain of misery", suffering huge damage. It comes out fast and is very strong. Use in close quarters. =========================================================================== =========================================================================== Zankaze Enpa: Satsuma f,d,df + C 6 Hits Works almost the same as the Hankyou, with the exception that it's one less hit, and it goes higher. The best anti air in the game, no doubts. Fast, strong, it has it all. Zero is ridiculous :D. =========================================================================== =========================================================================== Shikka Koujin qcb + K B 1 Hit D 1 Hit Known to some as the fart of death. Zero bows down (it's a grab) and if he connects, he'll do a... strange procedure. I can't explain it, you must see it for yourself. You will probably laugh :D. Anyhow, it's a very lousy move. It has zero (hehe) priority and is not very damaging. Only use for laughs. =========================================================================== =========================================================================== Mabukousou qcf + K B 5 Hits D 5 Hits Zero sends out his shadow, and if it connects, Zero will rush forth and hit the enemy four times, ending it with a critical blow. It's one of Zero's cooler moves, but it's also kind of hard to connect with, and not that very strong. Cheapness seems to be the winning way when playing Zero, so although the Shikka Koujin and the Mabukousou are cooler moves than the Zankaze Enpa ones, the Zankaze Enpa ones are always used anyway. The agony of the world! =========================================================================== =Desperation Moves= =========================================================================== Gokusa Zanjin [1 Power Stock] qcf,qcf + P 30 Hits Say hello to the cheapest move in the game. This extremely dangerous move has Zero attacking the enemy with a flurry of smoothly animated cape swipes. The damage is... I mean, no way... I think it's about 70 % damage. It's VERY ... you know. One of these and the enemy is dead, simple as that. Using this against your friend will make you feel VERY cheap. But I mean what the heck, it's a fun move :D. And it IS the best DM in the game. You gotta see the tick damage of this move, it will make you fall off your chair. =========================================================================== =========================================================================== Hakura Messhou [1 Power Stock] qcf,qcf + K 16 Hits A less cheap move than the Gokusa Zanjin. (This one 'only' damages 50 %) It has Zero punching the ground and a black hole appearing behind him. The black hole sends out energy spheres which damages the enemy greatly. It has a maximum of 16 Hits, and is very easy to hit with. A truly wonderful DM, which should be thrown out when you have the chance to do so. =========================================================================== Zero has no SDM's. (And if you think he's cheap as it is, you should be happy for that :P) ========= 5. Combos ========= ============ Basic Combos ============ The basic combos which comes to use from time to time. (Casually if you want to win, of course :D) [Note: When using C with Zero, time 'almost freezes', this give you time to follow it up with any move at all, as you can see below...] 1. C > Zankaze Enpa: Ouga 2. C > Zankaze Enpa: Shouha 3. C > Zankaze Enpa: Hankyou 4. C > Zankaze Enpa: Satsuma 5. C > Shikka Koujin 6. C > Mabukousou 7. A > A > B > Jagai Kusetsu ============== Striker Combos ============== Fairly advanced combos used together with certain strikers. 1. Requirements: Ramon striker, Opponent in corner, 1 power stock. Mabukousou > Call Ramon > Gokusa Zanjin ============ 100 % Combos ============ These are damn hard to perform in the beginning and requires training to master fully, but once you have mastered them fully, people will never stop gazing in awe at your gameplay. None found yet. =========== 6. Strikers =========== Presenting: Zero's Strikers! ================================================================================ Zero Normal Striker 0 Hits It isn't implemented. He jumps in, taunts, jumps out. And he has the face of K'. ================================================================================ ================================================================================ Shadow Zero Another Striker 0 Hits It isn't implemented. He jumps in, taunts, jumps out. And he has the face of K' with glitchy colors. Also, he is totally black. ================================================================================ ====================================== 7. Undercover Operation [Zero's Story] ====================================== Zero is one of the higher-ranked Nests agents. Due to his rank, Zero managed to become one of the most important men among the Nests cartel, aiding them in their evil plans. However, power corrupts people, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Always hungry for power, Zero was not satisfied with his current position. Anxious for more, Zero begins to create a plan that would involve the downfall of his superiors and his rise to power. Zero began his true work when the Krizalid project had begun. Acting as the project supervisor, he was to monitor all actions done by Krizalid, and also analyze the performance of K', who is a human being infused with Kusanagi power. After Krizalid was defeated, Zero was the ominous voice who talked to the heroes of the battle. Zero considers Krizalid to be a worthless agent, and dispatches him by launching a huge boulder over Krizalid. After proclaiming the superiority of Nests, Zero retreats to seclusion once again.... During one full year, Zero begins the fabrication of what should be the most fearsome weapon ever created by man: the Zero Cannon. A killer satellite that would orbit the Earth in outer space, it would contain a huge laser cannon that would be able to fire at any designated spot on the ground. But this type of destructive energy needed an equally powerful energy source. Using the same technology that was used for Krizalid's battle armor, Zero fabricated a power generator that would be able to absorb the fighting energy of any human being. The generator would then channel the energy towards the Cannon, and power it up enough for it to destroy whole cities at once. Zero, drunk with ambition, plans to use this weapon against his own superiors. But he needs someone outside the organization to launch it, to avoid suspitions.... The Ikari Warriors proved to be the perfect target for Zero's evil plans. That way, he could avoid any possible investigation by his bosses. But there was no direct way to approach the mercenary squad. Zero, using the advanced clone technology of the Nests cartel, created a clone of himself, and programmed him to pass as a fellow mercernary commander named Ling, who would lead the fighters straight into his trap. His plan would soon begin.... Taking advantage of the friendship between Ling and Heidern, Zero launches the Zero Cannon to outer space, saying that it would be a weapon to use against Nests. After that, Zero suggests Heidern to organize a new King of Fighters tournament in order to attract Nests out of their hideout. In order to do so, Zero advises that Heidern should follow K' and Maxima, former Nests agents, who should be able to confess something about Nests' whereabouts. While Zero fixes that situation, he also makes some movements on his side. He dispatches two of the most important agents that worked for Ling, and sends them to attract the former members of the fighters of the faithful battle one year ago. Seth and Vanessa are assigned to search out for K', Maxima, Benimaru Nikaido, and Shingo Yabuki, and bring them to Southtown for the final battle. Zero's plan begins as scheduled.... But Nests has also moved their pieces. After sending the "anti-K'" Kula to stop Zero's plans, Nests plans to wipe their trace in Southtown. Meanwhile, as the tournament advances under the happy gesture of Zero, the final battle in Southtown nears. After Heidern realizes that things aren't going as planned, Zero puts the final part of his plan into motion. He captures Heidern using his soldiers, which posed as Ling's soldiers, to stop Heidern from any further interference. Now, Zero prepares himself for the final match in a temple located behind an abandoned factory in the industrial zone of Southtown. When Maxima and the others arrive with Zero, he tells them his malevolent intentions. He even used his own agents, Seth and Vanessa, as pawns in his maniacal game. He injected them with his own genetic code to enhance their abilities so they could perform better in battle. Facing the rage and anger of many of the fighters in front of him, Zero manages to get one step closer. The warriors are so angry that they will fight with no drawbacks. This will gain him enough energy to charge the Zero Cannon! During the battle, Zero manages to display two styles: one of them was pure strength and speed, using his power and his razor-edged skirt. The second part of the battle, when things suddenly got serious, Zero used dark arts in order to surprise his opponents, and even use his own fighting aura to create chaos around him. After wiping out practically all the resistance, Zero declares himself the winner, but not before Lin stabs him in the back. Furious, Zero gives Lin a sound beating, but now he has to face K'. Zero feels that his body doesn't reply to his commands anymore. The stab from Lin injected poison into his body, downgrading his physical status, allowing K' to deliver the final blow. Badly wounded and enraged, Zero is ready to activate the Zero Cannon, since it should already have enough energy to blow his enemies to bits. However, the generator does not respond to his command inputs. Suddenly, Zero is inmobilized, and two mysterious women, called Diana and Foxy, appear at his sides. They condemn Zero to death for trying to betray Nests. Amidst his anguish and pain, Zero watches how Kula activates the Zero Cannon from outer space. The beam falls on the temple itself, and Zero receives the impact head on. In his dying place, Zero delivers Whip the project data before finally being buried by the debris of the falling temple, with Southtown as his crumbled tomb.... Zero always desires incredible power. Not content with his incredible strength, among the best in the Nests cartel, Zero aims for higher goals, no matter who has to fall. He will destroy his enemies and allies alike to accomplish his dreams. Always taking advantage of the fighting sense and the feeling of the battle, Zero now vanishes, leaving behind his desire for infinite power. *Fun fact = From hero to zero? Many people didn't like Krizalid that much, but mostly because he was cheap, not precisely because he was a bad design (although he dressed like Prince or something). However, Zero has been tagged as the worst last boss of the KOF series, mostly since his design is lame (somewhat of a two- bit Rugal), and he's THAT easy to beat once you've gotten the hang of it.
