All types of weapons, except firearms, are allowed making this fight to the death the ultimate tournament. The organization that arranges the tournament has selected all the participants in advance. Rumor has it that this organization was dissolved after the last tournament. The truth is not yet known. The tournament is about to begin. Who is behind the scenes? What evil purpose do they have? Battle Arena Toshinden is an excellent Game Boy fighter, despite the translation problems. There are numerous misspelled words (i.e. Hear comes a new challenger) along with other things. Take, for example, the characters' beginning/ending stories (beginning and end of tournament on Normal or above). They could have two speakers, but there is no indication of who's talking. (i.e. Hi, Bob. How are you? I'm fine. And you? I'm just dandy. Couldn't be better. That's nice.) And, some of their win quotes are terribly screwed up... (i.e. Don't touch me while fighting.) But, overall, it's a fun game, and if you don't have it yet, I suggest getting it. I saw it for $10 at Wal-Mart once. =) __ |/ |_ \ / |\ |__ | QCT Quarter Circle Toward - roll pad down to forward QCB Quarter Circle Back - roll pad down to back HCT Half Circle Toward - roll pad back to forward HCB Half Circle Back - roll pad forward to back HCUB Half Circle Upwards Back - roll pad forward to up to back HCUT Half Circle Upwards Toward - roll pad back to up to forward Z> Press pad Forward, Down, Down-Forward Z< Press pad Back, Down, Down-Back B B Button (punch/slash) A A Button (kick) AB Hold A and B buttons simultaneously ab Tap A and B buttons simultaneously b Back f Forward u Up d Down df Diagonally Down-Forward db Diagonally Down-Back uf Diagonally Up-Forward ub Diagonally Up-Back _ | \ _ _ |\ /| __ __ _ |< /\ /_ | / | \/ | / \ \ / |_ /_ |_/ /--\ __/ | \_ | | \__/ \/ |__ _/ Tap B Weak Punch/Weak Slash Hold B Hard Punch/Hard Slash Tap A Weak Kick Hold A Hard Kick Tap AB Sidestep (all moves go through you) Hold AB Knockdown Attack (knocks opponent across screen) d,d Sidestep (same as tapping AB) f,f Dash towards opponent b,b Backstep away from opponent db/df + AB Taunt opponent f + A/B Throw/Hold (must be done while right next to opponent) Notes: For the Desperation/Secret moves' shortcuts (u + AB/ab), it is easiest to hold/tap AB/ab and then tap Up. You can only perform Desperation moves if your life gauge is flashing (unless you access Scorcher mode). Almost all moves listed have two different versions, depending on if you press or tap the button. (i.e. projectiles move slower or faster.) I will only list the differences between pressing and tapping if they are worth noting. I have listed the maximum number of hits each move delivers. If you are unable to make them hit that many times, make sure you are right next to the opponent and then do the move. Also, all the lists are for the player facing right. He has trained vigorously and will do whatever he can to win. Mondo is one of my best fighters, and he has some AWESOME moves. His Raijin Shohinkai is unmatched. Weapon: Seiryu Spear Moves: Goriki Tenbu Z> + B Shortcut: f + AB 2 hits maximum The Goriki Tenbu is a spear stab followed by a very high jump with Mondo twirling his spear over his head. Very useful for eluding high attacks that you cannot jump over. Goriki Fujin HCT + B Shortcut: d + AB The Goriki Fujin is a useful move in which Mondo spins his spear in front of him and slowly moves forward. With this move, Mondo cannot be hit with any attack because his spear blocks it. Shippu Tsuki (high) QCT + B Shortcut: b + AB Shippu Tsuki (low) QCB + B No shortcut 3 hits maximum The Shippu Tsuki is an extending jab with the spear. It can stop some special moves. Goriki Raijin (in air) QCT + B Shortcut: Jump + AB 1 hit maximum The Goriki Raijin is an air fireball. Enough said. Choriki Daibutsumetsu QCT, QCT, b + B Shortcut: u + AB 4 hits maximum Desperation move The Choriki Daibutsumetsu is a move similar to the Goriki Fujin, except Mondo releases four fireballs in midair and it takes off a lot more damage. If you perform the motion and press B, Mondo releases all four at the same time. If you tap B, he releases two, pauses, and releases the other two. Kyoriki-jakouretsubu HCUB, QCT + AB Shortcut: u + ab 4 hits maximum Secret move The Kyoriki-jakouretsubu is a move where Mondo performs a Goriki Tenbu followed by a Goriki Fujin, but they're more powerful. Raijin Shoheki HCT + A No shortcut 5 hits maximum Scorcher Mode only The Raijin Shoheki is a VERY useful move. Mondo holds his spear out in front of him and it encases itself in a force field type thing. It repels all projectiles back at your opponent. This move can also hit the opponent multiple times by just touching him with the charged spear. Goriki Senpujin QCB, QCB + AB No shortcut 8 hits maximum Scorcher Mode only The Goriki Senpujin is a move where Mondo continuously does an air roundhouse and sweeps the opponent around for awhile. Useful if the opponent has you trapped in a corner and you are unable to escape. Puujin Shohinkai (close to opponent) A No shortcut 1 hit maximum The Puujin Shohinkai is a flip-kick. Useful if an opponent is jumping and is directly above you. Time it so that you hit the opponent when he/she is coming down. It can also be used while right next to opponent. Air Juggle move If the opponent jumps at you, hit [uf + A]. They will be knocked higher into the air. When you land, do it again. You can do this up to three times. I believe that this works with most of the other fighters, too. Throw/Hold Mondo lifts the opponent with his spear and slams them on the ground. Knockdown Attack Mondo does a quad stab with his spear. Easy to hit an opponent with. /_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/ / Duke / /_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/ One day, during a fight with a young Asian man, Duke's beloved sword Vanquer broke and he was defeated. Now Duke seeks a rematch with Eiji, the man responsible for his defeat. Duke is another player whom I am good with. He is a VERY short-range player, with only one long-range attack that isn't even always accurate. He does not kick, but instead has 5 different kinds of slashes (not including special attacks, and including the knockdown attack). Weapon: Vanquer (Sword) Moves: Southern Cross b,f,df,d + B Shortcut: b + AB 10 hits maximum The Southern Cross is a cool move. Duke lunges at his opponent with his sword, and then follows it with an Ogre Slash. Cyclone QCT + B Shortcut: f + AB 2 hits maximum The Cyclone is a move where Duke swings his sword in a circular motion and then does a sword slash. Ogre Slash f,HCT + B Shortcut: d + AB 1 hit maximum The Ogre Slash is a move where Duke jumps at the opponent and does a downward slash. Yay. Head Crush Jump,QCT + B Shortcut: jump + AB 1 hit maximum The Head Crush is a nice move to take out opponents from the air (except for the fact that, above Easy level, opponents usually block it). Duke jumps and then comes straight down on his opponents with his sword. The End HCT, b + B Shortcut: u + AB 2 hits maximum Desperation move A powered-up Cyclone. Need I say more? La Fin df,db,df,b,f + AB Shortcut: u + ab Duke's only projectile attack. An Ogre Slash which launches a projectile diagonally upward. Grand Cross QCT, QCT + AB No shortcut 1 hit maximum Scorcher Mode only The Grand Cross is slightly a projectile attack. Duke jumps in the air, does a couple of flips, and then lands and releases four projectile-type things that float upward slowly. Roses Coffin QCT + A No shortcut 1 hit maximum Scorcher Mode only The Roses Coffin is a dash-and-slash move. It was designed to be performed three times in a row. When you hit an opponent with it, a rose appears over them and it is sliced in half. Prittikewl move if done correctly. Throw/Hold Duke grabs the opponent and slams them on the ground. Knockdown Attack Duke does a hard sword slash. /_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/ / Sho / /_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/ Eiji's mysterious brother never stays in one place too long. What is his purpose here? Only time will tell. Sho is the best character in the game (in my opinion) because his moves are a combination of Kayin's and Eiji's. The reason for this is that he taught Eiji and Kayin everything they know. He also has some of his own moves. Weapon: Sword Moves: Senpu-Rekkuzan QCT + B Shortcut: f + AB 2 hits maximum The Senpu-Rekkuzan is a double fireball that hits high and low. A nice move for pummeling the opponent from a distance. Shouzan Z> + B Shortcut: d + AB Shishouzan Z< + B No shortcut 4 hits maximum The Shouzan is a sword dash followed by a vertical sword uppercut. The Shishouzan is the same, except it ends with a diagonal sword uppercut. Both are useful for getting jumping opponents if you lightly tap B while performing the motion. Senkouga QCB + A Shortcut: b + AB 1 hit maximum The Senkouga is kind of hard to explain, but it is one of Kayin's favorite moves. Sho jumps slightly forward and that about it. Suseikyaku Jump, QCB + A Shortcut: jump, d + AB 1 hit maximum The Suiseikyaku is a diagonally downward kick in midair. Useful. Gekkosa Jump, d, u + A Shortcut: jump + AB 1 hit maximum Gekkosa is a Senkouga flip in midair. Ryugekidan df + A no shortcut 1 hit maximum A sliding kick. Sei-Ryugekidan f,f,df + A 1 hit maximum A long-range sliding kick. Banki-mosyukem HCB, HCT + B Shortcut: u + AB 7 hits maximum Desperation move An array of attacks, ended by a Shouzan. Emma-ressyusai d, HCUT, d + AB Shortcut: u + ab Secret move 11 hits maximum Sho spins his blade over his head for awhile and then finishes with a Shouzan. Jigokumon QCT, QCT + AB No shortcut 11 hits maximum Scorcher Mode only Sho dashes at the opponent and, upon impact, starts hacking away with his sword while he and the opponent slowly ascend. I like to call it the Weed Whacker (you'll see why when you pull it off). Shuraakazan QCB, f + B No shortcut 1 hit maximum Scorcher Mode only A counter-attack. Sho does what looks like his taunt, and if he is attacked while in that position, he blocks and performs a Shishouzan. VERY useful if the opponent pulls off a move that is hard to block. Throw/Hold Sho does a back-slam to the opponent. Knockdown Attack Sho slashes with his sword. /_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/ / Gaia II / /_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/ Gaia II entered the tournament to teach Uranus a lesson. Gaia II is basically Gaia without the armor, and with a LOT more moves. Some of his moves are pretty powerful. He has no projectile attacks, but most of his moves are long-range. Weapon: Sword Moves: Botan HCT + B Shortcut: f + AB 4 hits maximum Gaia II exhales a short-range flame. Can be done in two different directions depending on if button is tapped or pressed. Ougimo QCB + B Shortcut: d + AB 1 hit maximum Gaia II makes a whipping motion with his sword. Not very useful. Tsubame-Okadi Z> + B No shortcut 2 hits maximum Gaia II lunges across the screen with his sword. Very long range. Obikoro QCB + A Shortcut: b + AB 0 hits maximum A long jump forward, good for switching sides with opponent or dodging a hard- to-dodge move. Tsukinowai b,f + B No shortcut 1 hit maximum A sword slash almost identical to Gaia II's knockdown attack. Not useful or powerful. Goukano-Kurenai HCB,HCT + B Shortcut: u + AB 20 hits maximum Desperation move A QUICK 20-hitter. Gaia II slides on his feet at the opponent and kicks major butt. He hits them so fast that they burn after Gaia II's done. Maryuu-jin u,ub,b,db,d,df,f + B Shortcut: u + ab 4 hits maximum Secret move Gaia II pulls off four normal moves automatically. Exciting. Igar-ashi u,ub,b,db,d,df,d + A No shortcut ? hits maximum Secret move I have never gotten this move to work myself, but I have seen a computer- controlled Gaia II pull it off. Gaia II jumps and lands on the opponent's head and kind of starts running in place on him like it's a NordicTrack. Batsou QCT,QCT + AB No shortcut 7 hits maximum Secret move Gaia II jumps up into the air and drills diagonally down with his sword. Igoukinai f,b,f,b + AB No shortcut 13 hits maximum Scorcher Mode only Gaia II rolls at his opponent and does an array of moves, ending with a Botan. Throw/Hold Gaia II grabs the opponent and torches them with a Botan. Knockdown Attack Gaia II slashes at his opponent. /_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/ / Eiji / /_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/ Eiji is an adventurer who travels the world in search of his missing brother. It is rumored that someone in the tournament may know his whereabouts. Eiji is determined to find him! Eiji is the all-around character of the game, like Ryu and Ken are to Street Fighter. He is somewhat good, but he only has one or two moves that Sho doesn't have. Sho is a much better choice. Weapon: Byakko Sword Moves: Rekkuzan QCT + B Shortcut: f + AB 1 hit maximum Eiji throws a fireball. Exciting. Hishouzan Z> + B Shortcut: d + AB 3 hits maximum Eiji dashes at the opponent and jumps straight up with his sword out. Ryugekidan df + A Shortcut: b + AB 1 hit maximum A sliding kick. Yay. Sei-Ryugekidan f,f,df + A No shortcut 1 hit maximum A long-range sliding kick. Ryuseikyaku jump, QCB + A Shortcut: jump + AB 1 hit maximum A kick diagonally down. Useful. Byakki-mosyuken HCB, HCT + B Shortcut: u + AB 7 hits maximum Desperation move Eiji dashes at the opponent and pulls off a few moves, ending with a Hishouzan. Enjin-shuraha u,d,f,b + AB Shortcut: u + ab 5 hits maximum Secret move A slow, powerful fireball. Jigokumon QCT, QCT + AB No shortcut 11 hits maximum Scorcher Mode only Eiji dashes at the opponent and starts hacking away at him/her with his sword. Same as Sho's Jigokumon. /_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/ / Kayin / /_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/ As a fighter, Kayin is feared and respected by all. His world is his battlefield. His desire is to win the tournament. Kayin will not rest until the victory is his. Sho taught Kayin and Eiji everything they know. As is the case with Eiji, Sho is a much better choice. Weapon: Sword Moves: Sonic Slash QCT + B Shortcut: f + AB 1 hit maximum Kayin shoots a projectile. Deadly Rays Z> + B Shortcut: d + AB 3 hits maximum Same as Sho's Shishouzan. Scottish Moon jump, QCB + A Shortcut: jump + AB 1 hit maximum Same as Sho's Gekkosa. Kayin does a flip in midair. Leg Crush QCB + A Shortcut: b + AB 1 hit maximum Kayin does what looks like Scottish Moon o the ground. Hell's Inferno HCB,HCT + B Shortcut: u + AB 7 hits maximum Nearly the same as Sho's and Eiji's Desperation moves. Rainbow Splash HCB, f, b + B Shortcut: u + ab 4 hits maximum Secret move Kayin pulls off 3 Leg Crushes and a Scottish Moon. Hell's Gate QCT,QCT + AB No shortcut 10 hits maximum Scorcher Mode only Kayin dashes at the opponent and pulls off 10 moves while he and the opponent rise slowly. Throw/Hold Kayin slams the opponent over his back. Knockdown Attack Kayin slashes with his sword. /_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/ / Sofia / /_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/ Learning that the mysterious force behind the tournament was manipulating her memory, Sofia is determined to find the person responsible. She will not be stopped. Weapon: Whip Moves: Thunder Ring QCB + B Shortcut: f + AB 1 hit maximum Sofia shoots a projectile. Aurora Revolution HCB + B Shortcut: d + AB 5 hits maximum Sofia spins on one leg toward the opponent. Rattlesnake QCT + B Shortcut: b + AB 4 hits maximum Sofia whips 5 times very fast. Not useful. Call Me Queen f,b,f,b + B Shortcut: u + AB 1 hit maximum Desperation move Sofia jumps really high and far. If she hits an opponent, it hurts. Salamander df,db,df,b,f + AB Shortcut: u + ab 5 hits maximum Secret move A powered-up Rattlesnake. Jewelry Shower HCT + A No shortcut 1 hit maximum Scorcher Mode only Sofia jumps through the opponent if you are close to him/her. Otherwise, she just jumps at them. Very cool. Thunder Ring (in air) jump,QCB + B Shortcut: jump + AB 1 hit maximum Scorcher Mode only Sofia shoots a Thunder Ring in the air. If you do the motion and press B, it will go diagonally down. If you tap B, it will be horizontal. Thunder Ring (to air) Z> + B No shortcut 1 hit maximum Scorcher Mode only Sofia shoots a Thunder Ring diagonally upwards. The direction depeds on if you tap or press B. /_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/ / Fo / /_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/ A 107-year-old master of black magic, Fo seems like a harmless old man. In fact, thousands of men have been sacrificed at the tips of his shiny metal blades. At the tournament, he plans to "paint the town red." Fo has some powerful moves, despite the fact that he's 107 years old. He has no similar character (unlike Eiji), so he is unique. Weapon: Metal Claws Moves: Mystic Sphere HCB + B Shortcut: f + AB 5 hits maximum Fo puts out a huge sphere. This sphere is used in many of his moves. Pagoda Kick QCB + A Shortcut: d + AB 1 hit maximum A rising kick. Sphere Burst jump, HCB + B Shortcut: jump + AB 1 hit maximum Fo does a Mystic Sphere in the air. You can do it as many times as you want on one jump. Travelling Sphere Z< + B Shortcut: b + AB 10 hits maximum Fo jumps up on a sphere and rolls it at the opponent. Long-range. You can only get 10 hits if you tap B after the motion instead of pressing it. Claw Attack Z> + B No shortcut 3 hits maximum Fo extends his claw at the opponent. Wind Breaker HCUB + AB No shortcut 1 hit maximum haha... It looks like the old geezer has gas... Although that's probably not what it is. Mystic Sphere Burst f,HCF,b + B Shortcut: u + AB 4 hits maximum Desperation move Fo shoots 3 projectile Mystic Spheres at the opponent, and then he jumps at them and does a Sphere Burst. Ultra Wind Breaker b,f,b,f + AB Shortcut: u + ab 1 hit maximum Secret move A powered-up Wind Breaker. Ren-Fo QCT + A Chi-Fo QCT + B Ten-Fo QCT + AB 3 hits maximum Scorcher Mode only These three moves are to be done one right after the other. Hitting [QCT + A] makes Fo slide-kick the opponent. Right after the slide-kick, hitting [QCT + B] makes Fo do a standing claw uppercut. This knocks the opponent high into the air. While the opponent is airborne, hitting [QCT + AB] makes Fo do a Pagoda Kick, except on impact, he grabs them and slams them down to the ground. He stays on top of the opponent for awhile, then back-flips off. Undoubtedly THE coolest move in the game. The Ren-Fo can be done separately as a single move. Claw Slide d + B no shortcut 1 hit maximum Fo slides at the opponent on his stomach. Long-range. Hop-Kick Tap A No shortcut 1 hit maximum Fo hops at his opponent with his foot extended. Not particularly useful. Roundhouse Kick Press A No shortcut 1 hit maximum The name says it all. Double Roundhouse d + press A No shortcut 1 hit maximum Again, the name says it all. Claw Uppercut (right next to opponent) B No shortcut 1 hit maximum A move identical to the Chi-Fo. Throw/Hold Fo grabs the opponent, lifts them into the air, and slams them over his back. Knockdown Attack Fo slices with one of his claws. (what did you expect?) /_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/ / Rungo / /_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/ After discovering uranium in his mine, Rungo has become the target of many organizations. Rungo will do whatever he can to protect his family and his mine. I personally hate Rungo's guts. He has no cool moves and has a stupid weapon. If he would've just read the letter that he thought was an invitation to the tournament, he wouldn't be here (beat the game with him on Normal or higher and you'll see why). Weapon: Club Moves: Fire Wave QCT + B Shortcut: f + AB 1 hit maximum Rungo slams the ground and a shockwave is created that slides along the ground. Power Thrust Z> + A Shortcut: d + AB 1 hit maximum Rungo jumps up at a 45-degree angle. Batter Up HCB + B No shortcut 1 hit maximum Rungo dashes at the opponent and swings his club straight up. Fire Strike QCT, b + B Shortcut: b + AB 1 hit maximum Rungo slams the ground and a rock flies straight up. Mega Fire Strike HCT,HCB + B Shortcut: u + AB 1 hit maximum Desperation move Rungo slams the ground and a wave of rocks slide at the opponent. Nearly impossible to dodge. Mega Brutal Stomper u,ub,HCT + AB Shortcut: u + ab Secret move Rungo lunges at the opponent, hits them a few times, and finishes with a Power Thrust. Hyper Batter Up Z< + AB No shortcut 1 hit maximum Scorcher Mode only For this move, you must hold AB and then release it when you want to. While AB is held, Rungo is vulnerable to attacks. Hard to dodge when carried out, but you can prevent it by approaching Rungo while the buttons are held and performing a throw/hold. /_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/ / Ellis / /_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/ Hearing a rumor that her missing father might be alive, Ellis entered last year's tournament in hopes of finding him. It was then that she discovered that her real father was Gaia. She entered this year's tournament hoping to meet him. Ellis is VERY powerful. She has a nice assortment of moves, and she is the fastest fighter. She is also the highest jumper (next to Uranus). Also, most of her normal moves are double-hitters, and her crouching moves are almost all long-range. A fighter worth considering. Weapon: Twin Knives Moves: Tornado QCB + A Shortcut: f + AB 0 hits maximum The Tornado is a move identical to Gaia II's Obikoro, except Ellis can perform other moves while in the air. The Arc Slash is a nice move to combine with this. Flaming Crescent Z> + B Shortcut: d + AB 3 hits maximum The Flaming Crescent is a move identical to Sho's Shouzan and Eiji's Hishouzan. Arc Slash Jump, QCB + B Shortcut: jump, d + AB 1 hit maximum The Arc Slash is an air-dive. Nothing else to say about it. Air Dance QCB + A Shortcut: jump + AB 1 hit maximum The Air Dance is identical to Kayin's Scottish Moon and Sho's Gekkosa. Ribbon Toss HCUB + AB Shortcut: b + AB 1 hit maximum Ellis throws her ribbon. Not very exciting. French Kiss f,b,f,b + B Shortcut: u + AB 9 hits maximum Desperation move Ouch. This move is one of the best in the game. No fighter is safe. Ellis jumps OVER the blocking victim, hitting four times, and then hits them from behind about 5 times. It's a killer. It's also almost impossible to block. Stardust Night df,db,df,b,f + AB Shortcut: u + ab 4 hits maximum Secret move Ellis hits the opponent a couple of times, jumps, dives at them, then hits them some more. The dive and the hits following it can get a blocking opponent. Pretty Dance (close to opponent) HCT + A No shortcut 8 hits maximum Scorcher Mode only This one hurts too. A quick 8-hitter that sends the opponent high into the air. You can add to the hit count if you do an air-juggle, but Ellis can only do one or two air-juggles because she jumps so high. Ballet d + tap B no shortcut 3 hits maximum d + press B no shortcut 3 hits maximum The Ballet variations are two low-hitting moves. For the first one, Ellis slides at the opponent with her knees. For the second, she jumps at the opponent with both feet. Both are nice. Ballet Jab d + B no shortcut 1 hit maximum Ellis dashes at the opponent and ends with a standing uppercut. Throw/Hold Ellis grabs the opponent, jumps over them, hits them, and sends them flying backwards. Knockdown Attack Ellis lunges at the opponent with her butt. /_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/ / Uranus / /_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/ Uranus entered the tournament to show Gaia II that she could fight. Gaia II entered the tournament to stop her. Uranus is a VERY good fighter. She has some cool moves, and she can fly. She can jump REALLY high, too. She has eight (!) different projectiles and most of her moves are long-range. Weapon: None, unless you count her wings Moves: Hover jump + A no shortcut 0 hits maximum Uranus hovers for a set period of time. Angel Rage (high) QCT + B Shortcut: b + AB Angel Rage (low) QCT + A No shortcut 1 hit maximum if you tap the button, 2 hits maximum if you hold it The Angel Rage is a double-projectile move. Uranus shoots two arrows with her bow. Angel Rage (high, short-range) b/f + B no shortcut 1 hit maximum This move is a slow-moving, short-range, single arrow. Angel Rage (low, short-range) d + B no shortcut 1 hit maximum Same as high version, except low (duh). Angel Rage (air) d + A no shortcut 1 hit maximum A diagonally-upwards arrow. Good for nailing airborne opponents. Angel Rage (bomb, straight down) jump/hover + tap B no shortcut 1 hit maximum Angel Rage (bomb, diagonally down) jump + press B The Angel Rage "bombs" are nice for attacking while hovering. Useful. Divine Fury Z> + A Shortcut: d + AB 1 hit maximum Uranus flies up at a 45-degree angle. Another nice move for hitting airborne opponents. Fire Hawk f,b,f,b + B Shortcut: f + AB 3 hits maximum Uranus dashes at the opponent. Long range. Phoenix QCT, HCT + B Shortcut: u + AB 1 hit maximum Desperation move Uranus blasts out a huge projectile. Not exceptionally powerful, but hard to dodge. Cockatrice QCT, QCT + AB Shortcut: u + ab Secret move 20 hits maximum Uranus puts out a small spark. Hard to hit an opponent with, but worth it if you can. Talon (next to opponent) A no shortcut 1 hit maximum Uranus slides at the opponent. Functions the same as Mondo's Puujin Shohinkai. Also works if opponent is right above you. Throw/Hold Uranus grabs the opponent and flies straight up out of the screen with him/her. You see the opponent fall down out of the sky, and then Uranus slams down on `em. Very cool. Knockdown Attack Uranus kicks the opponent across the screen. Not particularly exciting. /_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/ / Gaia / /_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/ Gaia's identity is a mystery. His power, however, is well known. Warriors cringe at the mere sight of him. Defeating Gaia will not be an easy task! For some strange reason, the whole game kind of "revolves" around Gaia's armor. I have no idea why. At the beginning, he gets armor that is supposed to enable him to beat any opponent. Almost every win quote that is associated with him talks about his armor. And at the end, he can't get the armor off. Weird. His armor doesn't help him worth crap!! He has the same amount of energy as anyone else... He also has all of 5 moves. (5 whole moves?! Whooaa...) Not a good choice of a player. Weapon: Armor, Sword, talons protruding from shoulders Moves: Red Fire QCT + B Shortcut: f + AB 4 hits maximum Four fireballs aimed diagonally down. Hard to block. Blue Water Z> + B Shortcut: d + AB 3 hits maximum A powerful projectile that's hard to dodge, like all of Gaia's other projectiles. Green Wind QCB + A Shortcut: b + AB 8 hits maximum Gaia projects a spark identical to Uranus's Cockatrice. Dark Finish HCB, f + B Shortcut: u + AB 2 hits maximum Desperation move Gaia shoots a huge fireball that's nearly impossible to dodge. Bad End df,db,df,b,f + AB Shortcut: u + ab 12 hits maximum Secret move Gaia spins toward the opponent with his sword outstretched. Also hard to dodge. Throw/Hold Gaia grabs the opponent And tosses them into the air. Not very exciting. But, you can attack the opponent as he/she comes down. Knockdown Attack Gaia slashes with his sword. Yay. /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\ / \ < _ __ _ _ __ ___ _ > < /_ |_ / |_> |_ | /_ > < _/ |__ \_ | \ |__ | _/ > < > \ / \/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/ Hoo boy... This game isn't at all short of these. Here are all of them. During the Ellis demo (at the beginning of the game, after the Takara logo), press [right, left, A, B]. You now have access to Gaia and Sho as players. There is no indication that you did it right. During the Ellis demo, press [up, down, A, B, right, left, A, B]. You can now play as Gaia, Gaia II, Uranus, and Sho. You will hear an explosion to confirm the code. Press [select, select, select] while the Takara logo is displayed to access Scorcher Mode. Scorcher Mode allows you to perform Desperation moves at any time, and allows you access to new special moves for most players. At the title screen (when it says to press Start), press [up, up, select, A, down, down, select, B]. You will hear a beep and the title will turn blue. This code only works on Super Game Boy. To fight Gaia II in a 1-player game, you must finish off two opponents with a Secret or Desperation move in the final match with that particular person. Ellis thinks the costume is stupid too. Ellis meets up with Kayin after the tournament and talks with him for awhile. Sho and Eiji are brothers. Sho is a wanderer, and Eiji has been continuously looking for him. They finally meet at the tournament. Kayin and Eiji were trained together by Sho.
