There is no real branching off of the story - you just select dialogue options and play right through, with this walkthrough listing the dialogue option to select every time to continue through the game (not that there really even is any 'wrong' choice, as the game will only allow you to make one dialogue option in just about every scenario). There are a total of six mini-games that you play through on the way to the ending of the storyline, but they are all extremely basic fare. ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~- Walkthrough -~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ [WALK] Scene 1: Hallway ---------------- •Scroll through Scene 2: Home ------------- •Select first option •Select first option •Select second option Scene 3: Hallway ---------------- •Select second option Scene 4: Classroom ------------------ •Select first option •Select first option •Select first option •Select first option •Select second option •Select first option •Select second option •Select fourth option •Select 2 •Select first option •Select 1 •Select first option •Select first option •Select first option Mini-Game: Dodgeball -------------------- Here, you play a mini-game against one of Maruko's classmates, basically dodgeball. The game is horizontally-based, with Maruko on the left side of the field and her opponent on the opposite side. Two large blocks are on the centre line of the field, which can be used to deflect dodgeballs. Maruko will throw dodgeballs automatically, but you can press Up and Down to move her and change where the dodgeball is tossed from. You can also move to dodge incoming balls from her classmate. The game ends when somebody has been hit 3 times. The first 2 times, an X mark will be made on the top bar. Mini-game: Quiz Time -------------------- This mini-game consists of two parts. The first part involves a floating hand with a pointed finger that scrolls back and forth between five pupils, including Maruko in the centre. You need to press the A button as soon as the finger touches the outer edge of either side of the screen. If you timed it correctly, the finger will slowly come down and stop over top of Maruko. You are then given a question, after which you must repeat the finger•Scrolling sequence. If the finger lands on anybody other than Maruko, or you answer a question incorrectly, you take a 'hit'. The answer to the first question is 1. The answer to the second question is 3. •Select first option •Select first option •Select second option •Select first option •Select second option •Select first option •Select second option Scene 9: Streets ---------------- •Select first option •Select second option •Select first option •Select second option •Select third option •Select third option Scene 10: House --------------- •Select first option •Select first option •Select first option •Select third option Scene 11: Train --------------- •Select first option •Select second option •Select first option •Select second option •Select first option •Select first option •Select first option Scene 12: Beach --------------- •Select first option •Select first option •Select first option •Select 1 •Select 3 •Select first option •Select second option •Select first option Mini-Game: Split the Watermelon ------------------------------- Here, you are given a 5x9 plot of squares. On one of these 45 squares, there is a hidden watermelon. You are given three chances to strike a stick and smash the hidden watermelon, wherever it is. If you do not locate the watermelon with your 3 chances, the mini-game resets and the watermelone's locate is re- randomised. One you get the watermelone, you move on with the game. •Select first option •Select first option •Select first option •Select first option •Select first option •Select second option •Select first option •Select third option •Select second option •Select first option •Select first option •Select first option •Select 2 •Select first option •Select third option •Select first option Mini-Game: Rock-Paper•Scissors ------------------------------ Most all of you know how Rock-Paper•Scissors goes. Rock beats Paper beats Scissors beats Rock. This RPG mini-game builds on basic RPS by at the same time giving you a number of footsteps to get to a seashell instead of a best- of-3 or best-of-7. If you win a throw with a Rock, you take 4 steps. If you win with Scissors, you take 6 steps. If you win with Paper, you take 3 steps. To change your throw, press Left for Rock, Up for Scissors, right for Paper. You can quickly change your throw multiple times in a couple of seconds, and Maruko's classmate will do the same often. To win, you need to land exactly on the seashell. If you are 2 steps away and win with Paper, you take 2 steps to get onto the seashell and then 1 step back away from the seashell. You must select the curtain with Maruko's grandfather behind it. The problem is this is entirely randomised, so it is basically luck of the draw with getting it 2 out of 3 times, so you may be in for restarting the mini-game multiple times until you complete it. •Select second option •Select second option •Select first option •Select second option •Select fourth option •Select 1 •Select first option Scene 15: Shrine ---------------- •Select first option •Select third option Scene 16: Food stand -------------------- •Select first option •Select third option •Select second option •Select second option •Select first option •Select second option •Select first option •Select first option Mini-Game: Grab the White Fish ------------------------------ In this game, you have a small tank of water with 3 white fish, 2 dark fish and a lobster swimming around. A small fishing net moves left and right at the top, while all the fish themselves swim back and forth. You need to tap the A button to send your net down at a slight diagonal down-left. You have 4 attempts with casting the net, and you must capture the 3 white fish in this time period, making sure to avoid hitting the dark fish or lobster (hitting one of them does not result in a restart but it does cost you a cast of the net). •Select first option •Select second option •Select third option •Select first option •Select first option •Select second option •Select fourth option •Select 2 •Select first option •Select second option •Select third option Scene 17: Shrine ---------------- •Select first option •Select first option •Select second option •Select first option •Select first option •Select second option •Select 3 •Select 2 •Select first option •Select 2 •Select third option Scene 18: Food Stand -------------------- •Select first option •Select 3 •Select first option •Select second option •Select third option •Select first option •Select second option •Select first option Mini-game: Find Grandpa ----------------------- This is a repeat of the same mini-game from earlier. •Select first option •Select third option Scene 19: Shrine ---------------- •Select first option ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~- Donations/Amazon -~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ [DONT] I don't really care too much about donations, but if you are feeling generous, feel free to send one via PayPal to gammabetaalphafaqs AT gmail DOT com Alternatively, if you ever order any items from Amazon.com, go to the link below. You do not have to buy anything right away, but (if you do not clear browser cookies often) any items you buy within the next 90 days will count as a 'referral order' to me, meaning I get anywhere from 4-6% as a referral/affiliate payment of what you ordered (ie. order $100 worth of stuff, I get $4-6 from Amazon.com) www.amazon.com/?&camp=212361&linkCode=wsw&tag=raofavigafa-20&creative=391881 Other than that, considering this FAQ is for an obscure old game, if you have any other obscure old games that you do not play anymore, consider sending them to me (I will even pay the shipping cost!). I write FAQs for plenty of obscure old games with no FAQs, and having a physical copy of the game (and even better, a manual) is superior to not.
