NHL 2k3 by Sega and Visual Concepts Transaction FAQ Version 3.13 - March 13th PS2 Verision by dynamitehack91 dyanmaitehack91@yahoo.com -NOTE- Because of the huge volume of trades that occured at the deadline, there may be a couple mistakes. I'm taking a long time to proof read it so I figured for those who need it, I'll post this up for you to make some of the changes. I could get a greater proof reading going if other people checked it out with me going. The final update shall be finished no later than the playoffs as I'm working on the NHL2003 guide as well. I apologize for any mistakes made in this last update and I'd appreicate any errors found. -END NOTE- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CONENTS TABLE I. Legal Disclaimers II. Version History III. Intro to the FAQ IV. Frequently Asked Questions to the Author V. Transaction List VI. Contributions ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I. Legal Disclaimers (because I have to) This document is intended for the sole use of all NHL 2k3 users and may be distributed freely amongst the internet as long as the contributions section, my contact info and the credits to me, Jeff French, are left in tact. This document was orginally posted on and for the use of www.gamefaqs.com. I am in no way affliated with the NHL, their 30 hockey clubs, the American Hockey League and it's clubs, Sega, Visual Concepts. All the names in this document are protected by the NHLPA. For anyone reading this document not from www.gamefaqs.com you can always go to www.gamefaqs.com for the latest version or contact me and I'll be more than happy to send it to you. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- II. Version History -IMPORTANT- Do NOT email me about the following : Do NOT email me about gameplay questions, there's the gamefaqs board or the instruction manual for that. Do NOT email me wondering how you can score less goals. Most sports games today have SLIDER SETTINGS that you can put against your favor to make it harder. Try there. And if that doesn't work, stop shooting so much. You can't score 15 goals a game if you don't shoot. There, problem solved. DO NOT email me about trades and such thinking I don't know about them. I know about them. I just haven't had time to add it or such. This document has fallen down my list of 'side-projects' to do and even farther down my list of things I must do. You'll have everything finally updated some time after the trade deadline freeze and before the playoffs. I promise you guys that, I'll have everything done before the playoffs. If you want an analysis of a trade or want to talk about it in a breakdown, yes please feel free to contact me over it. I'd appreicate that and I'd be more than over joyed to do so in that case. I apologize if this sounds rude to some, it's not meant to. It's just meant to hopefully enforce the guidelines I had set. March 12, 2003 - Version 3.12 - Massive trade deadline day update. Hopefully will be the last update until the late rounds of the playoffs. These are in no particular order... First two were missed in hurried updates last time around... Gordie Dwyer RW from Tampa Bay to Montreal via Rangers Todd Gill D from Free Agents to Chicago Daniel McGillis D from Philadelphia via San Jose to Boston Ian Moran D from Pittsburgh to Boston Mathieu Schneider D from Los Angeles to Detroit Sean Avery C from Detroit to Los Angeles Maxim Kuznetsov D from Detroit to Los Angeles Dean McAmmond LW from Colorado to Calgary Shean Donovon RW from Pittsburgh to Calgary Micki Dupont D from Calgary to Pittsburgh Radim Vrbata RW from Colorado to Carolina Bates Battaglia LW from Carolina to Colorado Janne Niinimaa D from Edmonton to Islanders Brad Isbister LW from Islanders to Edmonton Raffi Torres LW from Islanders to Edmonton * Anson Carter RW from Edmonton to Rangers Ales Pisa D from Edmonton to Rangers Corey Cross D from Free Agents via Rangers to Edmonton Radek Dvorak RW from Rangers to Edmonton Bryan Smolinski C from Los Angeles to Ottawa Peter White C from Chicago to Philadelphia Matt Bradley RW from San Jose to Pittsburgh Wayne Primeau C from Pittsburgh to San Jose Chris Osgood G from Islanders to St Louis Justin Papineau C from St Louis to Islanders Val Bure RW from Florida to St Louis Janne Laukkanen D from Pittsburgh via Rangers to Tampa Bay Marc Bergevin D from Pittsburgh to Tampa Bay Brian Holzinger C from Tampa Bay to Pittsburgh Doug Gilmour C from Montreal to Toronto Phil Housely D from Chicago to Toronto Brad May LW from Phoenix to Vancouver Glen Wesley D from Carolina to Toronto Sergei Berezin LW from Chicago to Washington Jan Hrdina LW from Pittsburgh to Phoenix Dan Focht D from Phoenix to Pittsburgh Gill Lefebvre LW from Philadelphia via Phoenix to Pittsburgh Igor Kravchuk D from Free Agents to Florida Todd Warriner RW from Vancouver via Philadelphia to Nashville Johan Holmqvist G from Rangers to Minnesota Rob Ray RW from Buffalo to Ottawa Stu Barnes C from Buffalo to Dallas Lyle Odelein D from Chicago to Dallas Sami Helenius D from Dallas to Chicago Bob Wren C from Toronto via Nashville to Ottawa Tony Amonte RW from Phoenix to Philadelphia Chris Gratton C from Buffalo to Phoenix Daniel Briere C from Phoenix to Buffalo Richard Smehlik D from Atlanta to New Jersey Grant Marshall RW from Columbus to New Jersey Wade Flaherty G from Florida to Nashville Pascal Trepanier D from Nashville to Florida Randy Robitaille C from Pittsburgh to Islanders Claude LaPointe C from Islanders to Philadelphia Mike Van Ryn D from St Louis to Florida Rob Niedermayer C from Calgary to Anaheim Mike Commodore D from Anaheim to Calgary JF Damphousse G from Calgary to Anaheim Steve Thomas RW from Chicago to Anaheim March 09, 2003 - Version 3.09 - Last update until the trade deadline on tuesday. Bear with me as there's a lot to go over in no real particular order. Bryan Marchment D from San Jose to Colorado Brad Ference D from Florida to Phoenix Darcy Hordichuk LW from Phoenix to Florida Owen Nolan RW from San Jose to Toronto Alyn McCauley C from Toronto to San Jose Joey Tetarenko RW from Florida to Ottawa * Simon Lajeunesse G from Ottawa to Florida * Oleg Petrov RW from Montreal to Nashville Dmitry Yushkevich D from Florida to Philadelphia via Los Angeles Vaclav Varada RW from Buffalo to Ottawa Pascal Rheaume C from Atlanta to New Jersey Jon Sim LW from Dallas to Los Angeles via Nashville Andy Berenzweig D from Nashville to Dallas February 16, 2003 - Version 2.16 - Bigger update as I've been busy and I know no one really reads this thing anyway. Go see Daredevil the movie first of all. Okay for me it was ruining a childhood hero but I want to see this suceed so he goes mainstream and we get a (hopefully better) sequel. As for trades updated in here... Matt Cullen (16), Pavel Trnka (7) to Florida from Anaheim Sandis Ozolinsh (8), Lance Ward (4) to Anaheim from Florida Greg Koehler (??) to Los Angeles from Nashville Chris McAllister to Colorado from Philadelphia Todd Warriner to Philadelphia from Vancouver Pavel Brendl (55) Bruno St. Jacques (24) to Carolina from Philly Sami Kapanen (24) to Philadelphia from Carolina Shawn Heins to Pittsburgh from San Jose Andrew Ference to Calgary from Pittsburgh Alexei Kovalev, Dan LaCouture, Janne Laukkanen, Mike Wilson for Mikael Samuelsson, Joel Bouchard, Richard Linter, Rico Fata Check Pittsburgh and Rangers. Now leave me alone about not updating. January 29, 2003 - Version 1.29 - Eric Chouinard packs his bags for Philadelphia. Second Round Pick, that popular guy, goes to Montreal. Early congrats and best wishes to the Dwayne Roloson family. Roloson's wife should be giving birth to their second child any time now. January 24, 2003 - Version 1.24 - Hackett makes a second stint in San Jose only for a couple seconds as he winds up next in Boston. Nik Sundstrom finds his way to Montreal, Jillson gets swapped for McLaren. Calgary makes a couple moves shipping out Jamie Wright to Philadelphia and bringing in Matt Mottau from the Rangers. Atlanta acquires a new young gun in Jeff Farkas for Herpeger and Neilsen. January 20, 2003 - Version 1.20 - Small update as Darren Van Impe signs a contract with Columbus. Odd and people complained about the length of time Dafoe sat as a free agent. January 17, 2003 - Version 1.17 - Claude Lemieux finds rebirth in Big D, Harold Druken is heading back to Carolina via waivers, Jay Henderson moving to the Rangers...oh wait they forgot good ole Jay in this game...nevermind. Scotty Pellerin moves to Phoenix in the deal for Claude. Kevin Hodson announces his retirement from professional hockey. He will stay on with the Lightning as a goaltending coach for the youngsters. For a guy that only played 56 NHL games, you're attitude and good nature will be missed. January 15, 2003 - Version 1.10 - Got sick of just moving up a hundreth each time so this is now desginated 1.10 instead of 1.07 even though nothing major is added beyond a couple trades and waiver movements. John Grahame sent packing in Boston to Tampa where he'll be backing up Khabby. Josh Green moves from the Rangers to the Caps (remember he's orginaly on the Oilers for those starting from scratch) while the Caps pirate defenseman Joel Kwiatkowski from the Sens and the Blues steal Steve Martins from the Sens. I keep forgetting to move Denny Lambert to Nashville, don't do the same. May I also add Mike Danton (New Jersey) is a moron. January 08, 2003 - Version 1.06 - Oliwa now enforcing Bean Town and Mironov shipped off to the Rangers. Oliwa (NYR-BOS) Mironov (CHI-NYR) Tom Barrasso signs with the Penguins and retires. January 04, 2003 - Version 1.05 - Dopita and Barrasso heading to the FA pile, Kallio making his third spot of the season this time in the city of brotherly love. Toronto and Nashville do a deal, Carolina and Phoenix argee. Sacco surfaces in Philly. December 20, 2002 - Version 1.04 - Forgot the Boumedienne for Melanson deal. Check Ottawa and Washington respectively. Christmas trade deadline hits with Paul Ranheim changing teams, Check out Philadelphia. December 18, 2002 - Version 1.03 - Rangers sign some warm bodies (Cross, Tibbets.) Florida also signing a warm body (J.Rivers) Look them up in your Free Agents section. December 14, 2002 - Version 1.02 - McGillis for Ragnarsson. Look at Philadelphia and San Jose for details. Fixed Robert Petrovicky's name. Players find new homes Nielson (CLM-ATL), Kallio (ATL-CLM), Dunham (NSH-NYR), Eastwood (STL-CHI), Murray (NYR-NSH), Kloucek (NYR-NSH), Green (EDM-NYR), Druken (VAN-CAR-TOR). Reid Simpson to Nashville FINALLY added. November 27, 2002 - Version 1.01 - Yushkevich, Lilja, Bednar all find new homes. November 23, 2002 - Version 1.00 - Due to mainly lack of interest, lack of time, lack of heart in the project and lack of the ability to use CAPs (create-A-Players) in franchise mode, I've decided to scratch the whole roster and CAP updates. If you need line combinations, 23 man rosters and information for the basic players not in this game, head over to my NHL2003 FAQs. I'm only updating this one for transactions. It seems mute to give you Ivan Majesky's stats and CAP ratings if the damn game won't even let you use them in the game mode they emphasis the most. Also add the release of Metroid Prime as another main reason I'm not doing this document...though that could also go under lack of time. November 14, 2002 - Version 0.50 - Document started; Transactions listed; Create-a-Players (CAPs) still to come Whats Coming Next - Version 1.?? - I seriously do not know. I'm going to tend to keep it down to transactions but if I get the motivations to do the other things, I might in fact go for the whole she-bang but right now that looks doubtful. Next Update will probably be just to fix up some more transactions as well as take out any references and questions about me doing 23 man rosters and CAP sections. I apologize for any inconveince but my NHL2003 document will be the only thing I update so head over there for line combinations and such. It can always be found at gamefaqs.com exclusively (for the moment.) Maybe I can hook up with a web site maker and put something better together. If you need any help or opinions on created players, drop me a line and I'd be more than happy to discuss players with you. I'm always up for debate. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- III. Introduction This FAQ will NOT be on how to play NHL2k3 because well, isn't that what the game manual is for? In time I might add hints and strategies to this document but right now I'm concentrating on the roster aspect of the game. When you open up any sports game you will immediately notice that most of the roster seems out of date because they set the roster for shipping long before shipping so many of the transactions that occur in the league between the roster set date and the shipping date, don't make the game. Other mistakes come from the guy in charge of the rosters being lazy and forgetful to where a player has signed. I cannot blame him because it is a lot of work and a lot of these players are just career minor leaguers or fringe players and hard to keep track of any way. That is where I come in. I have to the trouble of listing every single omission to the rosters of NHL2K3 for the Playstation 2 and XBox. This FAQ will be updated a couple times from the current rosters until it's complete and then it will only be updated every month (reflecting call-ups and such) unless a major trade occurs, in which case I'll add that to the list. But for the most part the NHL Line Combinations and the NHL 23-Man Rosters sections will only be updated once a month. It's hopefully enough to keep you coming back for more. For anyone wanting to check out what I hope this document to ressemble can jet over to my work on NHL2003 (The EA Sports Hockey game) also placed on www.gamefaqs.com and look there. The NHL2003 document is still my main priority and this NHL2k3 thing is just a side project and because I take pity on you Sega fans. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IV. FAQs to the Author Here's where you can send in YOUR questions for me to answer. Since I started these roster projects I've been getting a lot more mail and a lot more mail means I'm probably getting a lot more questions and for some reason a lot of those questions are centered around this document or the NHL now. Not that I'm complaining because I'm getting something other than spam for once in my mail box. I'm still accepting questions for this section so if you have one or a suggestion, just contact me. What? How do you contact me? Well keep reading this section and you'll find out. Q When do you update this FAQ? A When I have time basically. There's a lot of projects I have ahead of this one. Q Where can I contact you? A You can email me exclusively at dynamitehack91@yahoo.com or if you really need to get a hold of me I'm on AOL Instant Messanger at dags91 as well as Yahoo Messanger at my email address. I don't mind talking to people on there so don't be shy. Just don't be rude. I'm also away from my computer alot without my away message up so if I don't answer back in a couple minutes, don't think I'm trying to snub you or being rude, I just forgot to take the couple seconds to put up the away message. So just leave your message there and where I can get a hold of you online and I'll get back to you ASAP. Q Where can I get the latest update of this document? A I'll always post this document on www.gamefaqs first. I do not have a website so this is my best exposure. So check gamefaqs.com for each update. If the document gets around to other sites (still legally in tact) then that's great but I'm only going to post the newest ones on www.gamefaqs.com. Q Have you done any other FAQs? A Yes actually. I did the same thing for EA Sports' NHL2003 and that can also be found on www.gamefaqs.com. That document is still my main priority but I will try not to neglect you 2k3 users too much. Q You have So-and-So on the wrong team, you have So-and- So's jersey number wrong, you have So-and-So's position wrong, you have So-and-So under the wrong team transaction, ect. A Chances are I know about it but have not gotten around to fixing it. However, I won't mind a polite email about it and that can key me in what needs to be fixed. I'd even appreciate it in some cases. Some of the positions will be different from what the game lists them as because I didn't write down the positions while I was writing down who needed to go where so I typed in the position I know they play which will very from what the game has usually. The player probably can play that position but I'd like an email about it because I want to get this as accurate to the game as I can get, not as accurate as to what I know. I'd be deeply in your debt there. Also if I have a player on the wrong team transaction list, then PLEASE do drop a line because I didn't write down all the transactions when I was going through the game and I forgot where some of the players came from originally in this game and that is what happened in those instances. Q Do you have any rules for contacting you via mail or AIM? A Yes. Please don't email me about trades, signings, call-ups or any roster moves. Chances are I know it before you. I'm pretty aware of what goes on in the league and I'm not trying to be rude but you're wasting your time. Small low minor transactions might throw me off for a while but I'll get them before too long. Also do not email me about anything to do with the real game itself. Most likely it's in the manual and if it's not in the manual, it's probably not in the game. I use the PC version so I can't help most console users anyway. If you want my strong (and usually long) opinion of a deal I might be more than willing to talk about it over AIM or an email conversation but for the most part don't contact me about current roster moves, they should be in the next update. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- V.
