Not much to say about him except he is fast, stylish, and way way better then the other characters. This FAQ was made to give you, the reader, the strategies, know-how, overall skills to accomplish any goal in Super Smash Brothers Melee. Captain Falcon has always been a favorite (atleast for me) since the original debue of Super Smash Brothers. Since SSB, he has been changed as far as moves, speed, and power are concerned. Having that said, let's begin to breakdown the abilities and strategies of this class act. -=====================================================================- < 3 = Why He's 'The Man' > -=====================================================================- WHY! Situation:Someone is coming from behind you What to do:SMASH back at them, or jump up and Falcon Kick/A attack down at them. You don't wanna get above him because he will just jump at you with his Up+B move, and you don't want to stick around after you hit him with a Falcon Kick or A attack because he will do his Dr. Tornado. His pills that he throws are almost no threat at all since you can see them coming you just jump out of the way. I suggest smashes and lots of them to beat this guy. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Mario:Same guy as Dr. Mario really so I'll just list the same thing I did for him. The best thing to do to the good Mario is to stay either below him or not near him. You don't wanna get above him because he will just jump at you with his Up+B move, and you don't want to stick around after you hit him with a Falcon Kick or A attack because he will do his Tornado. His pills that he throws are almost no threat at all since you can see them coming you just jump out of the way. I suggest smashes and lots of them to beat this guy. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Luigi: Also the same guy as the two above so I'll just list the exact same thing here. The best thing to do to the good Luigi is to stay either below him or not near him. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Bowser:He's pretty big... and slow... But don't let that fool you he's also easy... I mean powerful. Bowser should be pretty easy if you're playing as Captain Falcon. You're so much faster than him and you can counter all of his moves except that spinning thing. Just keep attacking him and he won't have time to pull anything off. If he's dropping down on you with his butt stomp just attack him with A and it counters. Lots and lots of A attacks are the best thing for him followed up by a good smash. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Peach:Stick to your B attacks. She can be pretty harsh if you're not use to using your B attacks constantly. Just keep using them till she's around 100% damage then smack her with your smash, if you can. Try to pick up itmes as much as possible because the more you distance yourself from her the easier it will be to KO her. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Yoshi:Yoshi's a slow one and doesnt have a 3rd jump, but a double jump so just edge gaurd as much as possible and stick to Falcon Kick and smashes to kill this guy. If he uses that move where he rolls around in egg form just shield yourself or jump up or down but preferably up to a different platform. Also don't let him get items. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Donkey Kong:Easy as pie! Smack him with smashes and edge gaurd constantly he's really not hard to beat him once you get his damage up enough to knock him off the edge which shouldn't be hard if you throw items and Falcon Punch and Falcon Kick him. Remember Edge-Guarding is the key. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Captain Falcon:What can I say? He's gonna be the toughest opponent because he's the best character! Hehe. Just keep smacking him with whatever you got there's no real strategy to it except for staying away then smacking him. If you get to close he'll be laying the hurtdown, but so will you. The only thing I can say besides that is to use items. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Ganondorf:Use your speed to your ability. The same strategy applies to him as does with Captain Falcon above except to run you, but off. If he starts to charge up for something just smash him then and if you have time Falcon Punch or Kick him. Staying away from this guy is the real key to victory. Be patient and wait for items. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Falco:Shouldn't be to hard if you don't let him land or give him a chance to move. The reflection thing is pretty useless against Captain Falcon so don't worry about that. The little laser beam can be annoying so just keep coming at him and don't attack from a distance. His little Falco explosion thing shouldn't be too hard to deal with since it executes slowly. Just stay on top of him and he should be a pushover. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Fox:The same guy as Falco only faster and a little bit harder for that reason. Shouldn't be to hard if you don't let him land or give him a chance to move. The reflection thing is pretty useless against Captain Falcon so don't worry about that. The little laser beam can be annoying so just keep coming at him and don't attack from a distance. His little Fox explosion thing shouldn't be too hard to deal with since it executes slowly. Just stay on top of him and he should be a pushover. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Ness:Pretty easy to defeat. His third jump is pretty much useless, by the time he pulls it off you could jump off the edge punch him back killing him then jump back to land. He's slow and his only threat in my opinion is his PK Fire. PK Fire is pretty weak though so I wouldn't worry to much about that. Use your speed to your advantage and distance yourself from him unless you can keep him from moving by constantly attacking. Watch out for his baseball bat, that can pack a whollop if you're high on damage. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Ice Climbers:Very easy to kill. Just keep beating them to seperate them and then go after the blue one(if they are normal color). Kill the blue one to kill the other. Watch out for there hammers though they could give you a serious smackdown. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Kirby:When Kirby uses his rock drop gram him and chuck him off the screen. If he uses his little sword beam thing just get behind him or jump then smack him good. The big threat of Kirby though is when he becomes Captain Kirby. Don't let him suck you up because he then learns your Falcon Punch. When he has the Falcon Punch it executes faster although it is a little bit weaker. Make sure to avoid getting close to him and run throughout the battle. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Samus:Difficult to beat. Samus has a really cheap move especially if you are on a small level. Her throw! This thing has good range and now that it is faster in SSBM it makes it very cheap. Keep your distance and attack mainly when she is in the air. Use items as much as possible and Falcon Kick a lot. When her damage gets up there you can go for a smash, but be careful you don't wanna get thrown. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Zelda:Personally I have no trouble with Zelda just smash her and Falcon Kick her, all the fast moves. She should be no problem. Her Din's Fire move will hurt you and is hard to avoid, but it really shouldn't be enough to kill you. The faster you move the easier she'll seem. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Sheik:Personally I have no trouble with Sheik just smash her and Falcon Kick her, all the fast moves. She should be no problem. Her Needle Storm move will hurt you and is hard to avoid, but it really shouldn't be enough to kill you. The faster you move the easier she'll seem. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Link:He's tough mainly because his sword is so annoying. It's got a good range and it will totally smack you a new one if you aren't careful. He's hard in the beginning because his damage is low the more you juggle him and keep him off the edge the easier he will be. Don't be afraid to run away or even Falcon Kick away. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Young Link:He's a lot easier than Link and the best thing to do to this guy is to keep him on the ground until his damage is high enough that you can smash him off the edge. Run around for items and get them before he does because that's the only thing that is really a threat to you. His boomerang could be a problem if you get in close enough, but it barely deals anything and doesn't knock you anywhere. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Pichu:Stay on him and never get above him. He gets knocked around easily so if you just keep hitting him he'll never get a chance to use the anoying electric attacks. If he does pull them off don't worry just get back in there and keep on fighting. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Pikachu:Stay on him and never get above him. He gets knocked around easily so if you just keep hitting him he'll never get a chance to use the anoying electric attacks. If he does pull them off don't worry just get back in there and keep on fighting. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Jigglypuff:He's easy, very easy. Just hit him with whatever you got. No strategy needed. The only thing to watch out for is if he gets items or if he puts you to sleep and/or he goes to sleep. Other than that he should be a piece of cake. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Mewtwo:Relatively slow compared to you and a somewhat worthy adversary. He moves strangely so don't let that confuse you. Don't let him charge up his shadow ball and keep him above you. Use your Falcon Dive to smack him again and again. Charge up smashes constantly and he should be hit many times by them if you time it right. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Mr. Game and Watch:He can be pretty devastating if you let him get his hands on enough items. He will sit there comboing you until you get some of the items. If there are no items he will be simple to kill very weak and you can kill him with about 70% damage sometimes less if you charge your smash. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Marth:He's pretty fast just about as fast as you. Just keep him off the edge and keep below him to stay alive. His third jump doesn't help much so you can knock him off the edge with pretty low damage and he will die. Smashes, Falcon Kicks, and Falcon Dives seem to work best on him. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Roy:He's slower than Marth, but more powerful. If you can stay away from his sword attacks you'll be fine. Just don't get above him. Falcon Kick and smashing works the best against him. -=====================================================================- < 7 = Guides > -=====================================================================- Guides for Classic, Adventure, and All-Star can be found in here. -=====================================================================- < 7.1 = Classic > -=====================================================================- Battle 1 ------ - A regular melee against another opponent check character guides if you really need help defeating a certain character. Battle 2 ------ - A team melee where you get a computer controlled ally to help you defeat to computer allies. A couple things you could do here, you could go after one enemy and let the computer take the other, group the enemies together and go after them both with the help of your computer ally, or you could sit back and let the computer do all the work, but if he dies it's all up to you. Bonus 1 ===== = Break the targets! Check the Target Test section for help on this. Battle 3 ------ - A regular melee against another opponent check character guides if you really need help defeating a certain character. Battle 4 ------ - A melee against a giant computer opponent. You get the help of two computer controlled allies. A few things you could do here include: Letting your computer allies do all the work, beating him solo and edge guarding, or you could use the strategies listed in the character guide section. Bonus 2 ===== = Collecting the trophies is the goal here. Just hold down on the C-stick to zoom out to see the trophies coming early. Then when you see one rush over to the area and smack it with A. Don't hit it to far you only want it to land in the center platform. A total of three trophies will come down. If you complete Classic mode the trophies will be yours to have. Battle 5 ------ - A regular melee against another opponent check character guides if you really need help defeating a certain character. Battle 6 ------ - My personal favorite. You must fight 15 of the same character, three at a time, and smashes/b moves work best to get rid of these guys. Only one hit is needed to kill these characters most of the times. Bonus 3 ===== = Race to the Finish. You must race as fast as you can to the end of the level. There should be a trophy hidden somewhere along the way. The path splits up into 3 and in my opinion the easies is the middle, then the top, then the bottom. Battle 7 ------ - Here you fight a randomly chosen metal opponent. The opponent shouldn't be to hard if you can just get him/her off the edge because they sink fast. Battle 8 ****** * The last battle. Here you face the Master Hand who has HP instead of damage points. The best move to use on him is SMASH Up when you are on the ground. If you are on Normal or Higher difficulty and you don't continue you'll face the Crazy Hand. He's the exact same except his little symbol at the bottom is a thumbs up and his hand does weird things. If you beat this then The Classic Captain Falcon Trophy is YOURS! -=====================================================================- < 7.2 = Adventure > -=====================================================================- Stage 1-1: Mushroom Kingdom: Wandering passage ===== ==== ======== ======== --------- ------- Run off the tube and onto the brick wall. From there double jump to get to the next tall slender wall. Jump to land on the floating brick wall. Avoid The koopas or kill them with Falcon Kick. Dash triple jump to get to the next brick wall. Run along to find a bunch of Goombas. Falcon Kick them, smash them, or jump over the next brick wall to move on. From there get on the small little brick wall. Tripple jump to land on the elevated land. Hop on the green tube then double or tripple jump onto the Koopa Paratroopa and land on the brick platform. There should be a Koopa Paratroopa flying next to it. Jump onto the Koopa Paratroopa and keep jumping in the air until you land. You should be on a platform with one Goomba. From there do more jumps and bounce off of the one Koopa Paratroopa and go as far right as you can. You will land on the middle platform attatched to the wall. Jump up the wall to the very top. Here you will fight a Yoshi Multi-Man Melee with 15 Yoshi's. Look at the Yoshi Character strategy for more info. Once done hop on the Koopa Paratroopa and hop again to land on a brick platform. Tripple jump to the next elavated piece of land. Run to the end of this area. Stage 1-2: Mushroom Kingdom: Peach and Mario ===== ==== ======== ======== ----- --- ----- Fight like usual, if you need tips check out the character strategies and responding to situations section. Stage 2-1: Kongo Jungle: Mini Donkey Kongs ===== ==== ===== ======= ---- ------ ----- Fighting these guys is easy, really easy. You can pretty much kill them with one charged smash. If you need help refer to the character guide section. Stage 2-2: Kongo Jungle: Giant DK ===== ==== ===== ======= ----- -- Here's what works well on the lower difficulties on the higher ones check the character guide and use Falcon Kicks! Immediately walk to the edge of the platform and turn left. Charge Up your forward smash and make sure you time it right so you release it right when DK gets there. If done correctly DK should be dead instantly. Stage 3-1: Hyrule: Underground Maze ===== ==== ======= ----------- ---- Run right until you find the big open passage area. Here you will have to run around going from place to place searching for one thing. That one thing is the Tri-Force. Not as complicated as it sounds. Basically just don't go anywhere you've already been and in each path you'll find a room or more than one room. If the room has a Tri-Force in it you move on, otherwise you'll be facing Link. Link shouldn't be that hard smash him a few good times and Falcon Kick him to be victorious. Good Luck. P.S. You can hop over the little fighting arenas if you are good enough and running. Stage 3-2: Hyrule: Zelda ===== ==== ======= ----- Bust out with your Falcon Dive here use the stages multiple levels to your advantage. When she gets high enough here it comes my favorite word SMASH her. Stage 4-1: Brinstar: Samus ===== ==== ========= ----- I find it best not to mess with all the things you can do to the level. You get to beaten up over what would provide a little obstacle for her. Just beat her down as Captain Falcon normally does and of course hit her into the acid! Stage 4-2: Brinstar: The Great Escape ===== ==== ========= --- ----- ------ Shouldn't be extremely hard with Captain Falcon. Don't rush it! Jump calmly and almost always use double jump. Only tripple jump at that one place where there are no platforms, or if you miss a platform tripple jump to help you get back to it. There is a trophy hidden here along the way. Get it if you want it and have time to go out of the way like that. Stage 5-1: Green Greens: Kirby ===== ==== ============= ----- Smash and Falcon Kick till the cows come home or until he's at around 70% and he should be pretty easy to kill at that time. If you really need help check the Character Strategies section of this faq. Stage 5-2: Green Greens: Kirby Team ===== ==== ============= ----- ---- This team of Kirbys is different from the other teams you have faced. Why? Because they all already have the sucked up power of characters that you have unlocked. Fight these 15 Kirbys with smashes and sometimes Falcon Kicks to kill them. Even regular A attacks will kill them sometimes, but don't count on it happening all of the time. Stage 5-3: Green Greens: Giant Kirby ===== ==== ============= ----- ----- You only get this if you beat the Kirby Team and get a bonus called Half- Minute Man aka you beat it in 30 seconds or less. He's just like the fight with Giant DK one good SMASH can be the end of him. Work his damage up with attacks that leave you relatively far away from him after executed. Falcon Kick works well. Then when you feel you can get him off do so with a good SMASH. Stage 6-1: Lylat: Fox ===== ==== ====== --- Easy easy battle against Fox. Pretty straight forward with no trickery. Defeat him with two Smashes charged. If you do need help visit the.. well.. you guessed it Character Strategies section! Stage 6-2: Lylat: Fox or Falco ===== ==== ====== --- -- ----- Easy easy battle agains Fox or Falco. If you have unlocked Falco he will come sometimes. The exact same business as before two good smashes charged can clean Fox's or Falco's slate easily. The only difference about this battle is that Peppy, Slippy, and Fox/Falco have come to aid. They are shooting lasers at you. It's not as dangerous as it sounds. If you can get the two smashes off, the lasers shouldn't have had time to hit you. If you need help, again visit the Character Strategies section. Stage 7-1: Pokemon Stadium: Random Unlocked Pokemon ===== ==== ======= ======== ------ -------- ------- You are fighting 15 of Pokemon that you have unlocked randomly chosen. These pokemon should be easy. They are all lightweights and a good knock should send several of them flying off the edge. If you really need help which you shouldn't, visit well you know, Character Strategies section. Stage 8-1: F-Zero Grand Prix: Racing! ===== ==== ====== ===== ===== ------- Here is Captain Falcon's home, the race track! Run along as fast as you can dashing all the way until you reach the fourth platform and land on that. Wait for the cars to go by then run again until you reach the platforms floating over no land. If you can only get to the first one, you can still hop to the second one while the cars are going above you. Wait until they are gone then run again. There could be a trophy on this level so look for that. You should be able to make it to the end without stopping again. Stage 8-2: F-Zero Grand Prix: Captain Falcon ===== ==== ====== ===== ===== ------- ------ Here you face yourself... in your hometown... Just beat him like you would any other character although he's a little bit tougher than the rest. You should be careful of him and use your Falcon Uppercut Dash and Falcon Kick To deal with him. While he's in the air charge up for a smash then release it when he's in front of you. He should be dead after not too long. Stage 9-1: Onett: Ness, Ness, Ness ===== ==== ====== ----- ----- ---- You're fighting three Nesses. Try to group then together then pull off either a powerful move like a smash or a juggling move like Falcon Uppercut Dash. When the damage gets high enough switch to the Smash. Shouldn't be too hard if you keep them on the defensive. Stage 10-1: Icicle Mountain: Ice Climbers ===== ===== ====== ========= --- -------- There should be a Trophy along the way collect that. The stage keeps moving up and you should too, try to stay alive. When you get to the very top you will be facing two groups of Ice Climbers. Try to group them together then Smash them off the edge. The level isn't too big so they should die easily. If not the level could kill them just because it moves up. If you really need some help you can visit the Character Strategies section. Stage 11-1: Battlefield: Wireframes ===== ===== ============ ---------- Easy as pie to kill just a simple smash should get rid of a few. All in all you are facing fifteen of these weeklings. No trouble here at all. Stage 11-2: Battlefield: Metal Mario Brothers ===== ===== ============ ----- ----- -------- You are facing metal Luigi and metal Mario. If you don't have Luigi then it will just be Mario. Group these two together as best you can then beat them both down with smashes and A attacks to rise their damage. Once it is high enough, keeping them grouped together SMASH them with a charge if you feel needed. Stage 12-1: Final Destination: Bowser ===== ===== ===== ============ ------ This shouldn't be to hard. Falcon Kick, Throw, Uppercut Dash him until his damage is high then either smash him off of the edge or use your Falcon Punch to get rid of him Stage 12-2: Final Destination: Giga Bowser ===== ===== ===== ============ ---- ------ If you beat Adventure on Normal or higher without continuing you will face this guy, Giga Bowser. A large version of bowser and more powerful. Fight him using the same strategy and win to get the Giga Bowser Trophy. Now you have the Adventure mode Captain Falcon Trophy. -=====================================================================- < 7.3 = All-Star > -=====================================================================- Here is a listing of the order in which the levels go, if you need help on anybody check the character strategies above. You can tell which character you need to fight by looking at their faces in the background while you are going to the next fight. Use a heart when you need one usually when you are around 70% damage or when there are 3 people when you are at 50% damage. If there are two or three battles left to go and you still have that number of hearts, go ahead and use one before each battle. You will be fighting a total of 25 people and if you count Mr. Game and Watch as 25 then it is 49 people. If you have a better way please email me at KefkaFan@hotmail.com Turn left press A to pick up the bat, turn right and move towards the sandbag. Do your Forward SMASH. The farther back you hit it the more damage it will take. Repeat this until time is almost up. Then press B. The farther back you are the farther flying the sandbag will go. Gets around 800-900 ft. Alternate Method by, Shigmiya64@aol.com: "There is actually a way to get a decent amount of distance with Captain Falcon on the Home-Run Contest. Simply walk up to it and do your Up+A smash, then jump up and do your down+A air attack. Do this three times, then hit it with the Falcon Punch. You should get around 700+ft. (Note: You'll probably need to practice this a few times to get the timing for the down+A air attck right)" -=====================================================================- < 10 = Melee Mode > -=====================================================================- A helpful(Hopefully) guid for completing the different melee challenges. 10.1 = 10 Man Melee **** * ** *** ***** This one should be pretty simple. Defeat ten wire-frame opponents. The best way to do this is air attacks, smashes, and Falcon Kicks. You shouldn't have any trouble on this at all. 10.2 = 100 Man Melee **** * *** *** ***** This one is a little bit harder. Defeating 100 opponents can leave you pretty beaten and bruised up. If you manage to beat this you will fight Falco, if you dont have him already. Stand in the corner of the level under one of the platforms. Face across the level and charge up your smash. When they come near, release it. If you don't have time to smash just hit A to get them out of the way. When they come back, hopefully, you'll be able to smash. Falcon Kick also works well when most of the wire frames are on the same level as you. If one wire frame does not come near you and stays off by itself, ignore it. If it is the only one and more don't seem to be on their way, go after it. This one will take a few tries to complete with Captain Falcon. 10.3 = 3 Minute Melee **** * * ****** ***** This one can be pretty crazy. Staying alive for 3 minutes is harder than it sounds. Stand in the corner of the level and charge up your smash attacks. Wait for them to come near and release your smash attack. If you don't have time to smash either hit A or use your shield. When you are surrounded it is also good to use your shield and roll out of the wire frames way. Falcon Kicks shouldn't be used to much at higher damages because it takes a while to recover and an attack could be deadly while you are recovering. If one wire frame is not coming after you, leave it. Don't attack it. That's one less wire frame to be worried about. At higher damages you may want to just A attack and not risk being hit during recover. When you are surrounded and you don't wanna roll out sometimes it's best to do a downward smash. 10.4 = 15 Minute Melee **** * ** ****** ***** Insanity! Pure Insanity! Surviving for fifteen minutes is one step down from impossible. I have yet to do this with Captain Falcon. Strategies, hints or anything else you could contribute to my email would be helpful. KefkaFan@hotmail.com, but for now all I can give you is what I think is best. Use your shield often. Use downward smashes when enemies are close. Use upward smashes when they are on platforms above you or when they are just above you. Falcon Kicks only at lower damage. Forward smashes when they are infront of you. Air attacks will work, but I suggest you try to keep your feet firmly planted on the ground below you. Stay on the bottom platform only. If there is a ba-bomb above you switch to the other side of the level. If there is one infront of you, try to avoid it until it hits a wire frame. Warp stars are deadly, either you get it or you move to the other side of the level. If you beat this you get Kongo Jungle past and I think a Trophy. 10.5 = Endless Melee **** * ******* ***** You basically fight until the wire frames destroy you. If you fight and kill over 100 wire frames in Endless Melee you get a trophy. Use the strategies for 100 Man Melee to get the highest number of kills. 10.6 = Cruel Melee **** * ***** ***** This is impossibility with training wheels when you are playing as Captain Falcon. Sure it is possible to kill a few of these guys, but ONLY a few. If you beat it with five, which is highly unlikely, you will get a trophy.
