What's New -= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Version 1.15 (1/24/02): This is most likely the final update to be made to this FAQ. I highly doubt any new information will be added to this file, but if I'm sent something that truly deserves to be added, then there'll be an update, but until then, this guide is done! Version 1.1 (1/5/02): I added information on the Score Display secret, submitted to me by Bret Larwick! Version 1.05 (12/30/01): Added all the missing Bonus Points and Trophies, thanks to the Nintendo Official SSBM Strategy Guide! Version 1.0 (12/15/01): The Target Test section is complete with this update! Other than the rest of the Bonus Points and Trophies I'm still missing, this guide is complete! I'll still be trying to unlock more stuff and finding out how to get certain Trophies, but if you find out something that I'm missing, please let me know! Perhaps I'll even add more bits of information in the future; just have to wait and see. Version 0.97 (12/14/01): Sorry for the lack of updates lately, I've been busy with other more important matters! Anyway, I've added more trophies and bonus points here, as well as added a section for the Target Test. So far, only 7 of the regular characters are covered there, but expect more to be added soon! Version 0.95 (12/9/01): Now, I have all the characters' move lists down! I also added more trophies as usual, as well as stage descriptions and more Event Matches. More will be coming with the next update, which will most likely make this guide complete! Version 0.85 (12/7/01): Added more character move lists, Event Match information, trophies, etc. Next update will have more characters added, as well as more Event Matches and information on all battle stages! And as a quick note: I am very well aware of how to unlock each character, according to all the codes posted on the WWW. I'm not adding information on unlocking someone I don't have myself, so that may explain for the lack of "Unlock Mewtwo" and other stuff like that here. Version 0.75 (12/6/01): Got caught up with contributions mailed in with trophies I missed. Thanks to those who contributed! Also, I added a move list for Falco, as well as some more Event Matches and other little things. Version 0.6 (12/5/01): Lots more was added with this update! I'm still far from complete here, so keep visiting for more updates! Version 0.4 (12/4/01): The first version of this FAQ! It's in its preliminary stages, since I just got the game, but I will constantly update until I complete this guide! ***************************************************************************** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -= 2. Introduction -= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= The hugely popular fighter known as Super Smash Brothers has made its return on the Nintendo Gamecube, and it's a hit! This new version of the older N64 game is all that, plus MUCH MORE! There are 14 characters to choose from at the start, with many more you can unlock. Many new game modes, items, and levels are here, along with many other welcome additions! Sure, this sort of game is much more fun when you're playing with 2 or more friends, but it's still just as great to play by yourself. If you have a Gamecube, you MUST get this game; you will not regret it! ***************************************************************************** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -= 3. Controls -= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Start: Pause game, bring up submenu Control Stick: Move character, jump (press Up), move cursor on menu screens Control Pad: Taunt (press Up) A: Use regular attack (press simultaneously with Left or Right to use a Smash attack), pick up and use items, confirm selection on menu screens B: Perform special move in battle, cancel selection on menu screens X: Jump in battle (press twice to do a double jump), change color of character on player select screen Y: Same as X Z: Drop item L: Put up shield, dodge attacks (press with Up or Down), roll and dodge (press with Left or Right) R: Same as L ***************************************************************************** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -= 4. Overview -= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Damage Meter ------------ The way you take damage is unique in this and the previous Smash Brothers game. Instead of having an actual life meter, your damage is recorded in percentages. Each time you take damage, the % on your meter goes higher. The higher the %, the easier it'll be to knock you off the stage. You start off at 0%, and can normally last to around 200% or so before it becomes really tough to stay on and avoid the attacks! Nonetheless, it is an interesting way to show the damage each player has, and can keep the battle going, as opposed to actual health meters. Defending/Dodging Attacks ------------------------- Unique to this fighting game as well is the feature to put up a shield. That shield can protect you from all attacks, but with one downfall. Each time you're attacked while the shield is up, it gets smaller; if it gets too small it'll shatter, leaving you stunned for several moments! You use the shield by pressing either L or R and holding either button. To dodge an incoming attack, hold L or R, then hit Up or Down on the Control Stick. Doing so will make you dodge the shot by moving off the path. You can also roll while the shield is up; simply hit Left or Right on the Control Stick instead. Getting Coins ------------- Most noticeably in the Trophy Lottery, you need Coins in order to play in the Lottery. You can get those in several ways. One way is to use Smash attacks when playing in 1-P mode (1 Coin per Smash hit I heard). Another is to take your time in the "Race to the Finish" bonus stage when playing Classic 1-P mode. If you go through one of the white doors with 1 second left on the clock, you get the most Coins as a prize! Anyway, you need Coins so you can bet them in the Lottery for chances to win new trophies. Also, you'll need them in order to continue if you lose all your lives in 1-P mode. Those above methods are the ones that I've proven to work, but if there are other ways to get Coins, please let me know! Smash Attacks ------------- Out of all the different attacks each character has, everyone has a really strong attack known as a Smash attack. Perform a Smash attack by pressing Forward + A. Using such an attack will usually knock the enemy back a little, giving you a bit more room. Unique to this version of Smash Brothers is the ability to charge a Smash hit before it impacts. To do so, press Forward + A, but instead of releasing, hold A. You'll start to glow; after you stop, you'll use a much stronger version of the regular Smash attack to cause further damage! ***************************************************************************** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -= 5. Game Modes -= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= ======== 1-P Mode ======== Regular Match ------------- Here's the gameplay mode you'll use most often in this game. You can choose either Classic or Adventure mode here to play in. Classic Mode: Here, you play 11 levels of fighting, without going through levels like in Adventure Mode. There are many types of battles in this mode, and the enemies you're put against are random. It's basically the original version of Super Smash Brothers put into this game! Adventure Mode: This is a rather unique feature to this game, since you not only fight, but you roam around in that character's level as well! You fight the enemies native to that world as you make your way through to the end, where you'll fight the opponent or opponents of that stage. All-Star Mode: Here, you fight every single character (all 25 of them, including secret ones). Unlock it after getting all the secret characters unlocked and by beating Classic or Adventure mode with them, as well as all regular characters. You have 1 life, and after each battle, you get brought back to a safe area with 3 Heart Containers sitting around (once you use those, they don't regenerate, so use those wisely). You keep playing until you lose, or until you beat them all. Event Match ----------- Here, you can pick one of many pre-determined "event" matches to play in. There are only 10 when you first play the game, but you can unlock more as you progress (see the Secrets section of this guide for more details). For more information on the individual events, please visit that particular area of the guide as well. Stadium ------- Here, you can play any of the mini-games that this game has to offer! Target Test: Find and hit 10 targets scattered around an area. The area design for each character is different, though. Home-Run Contest: You can hit a giant sandbag as far to the edge of the platform as you can, then pick up the bat and use a Smash attack (Forward + A) to hit the sandbag for distance. Charge the Smash move (hold A) to add more power to your hit! Multi-Man Melee: Here, you can choose one of many endurance battles to play in if you choose. You can play against 10 or 100 opponents, fight for 3 or 15 minutes, fight until you die, or fight only the toughest enemies without the aid of items! These are the ultimate challenges, and can be quite fun to participate in if you're good at this game. Training -------- As the mode's name implies, this is training mode. Pick any character you want and play against a random computer-controller character. You can choose what items appear in this mode, how fast you move, etc. It's all just practice for the real modes of the game! ======== VS. Mode ======== Melee ----- A regular multi-player battle is what this mode is about! Pick your characters, change the options if you want by clicking the top bar (the one that shows the current settings), and the stage. Then you can fight to the finish in however way you want! Tournament Melee ---------------- In this tournament mode, you and any other human players can start a tournament. You can set what matches take place against whom, and the rules for each match as well. If you've played other fighting games, you're sure to understand what this means; if not, go play this game and find out yourself! Special Melee ------------- Play with other human players in a special battle, each with different rules and settings. This is just for fun, since no records will be saved in this mode. Custom Rules ------------ Change the general rules for a regular Melee battle here. Name Entry ---------- Each player can enter his/her initials here, and save their records when playing this mode there. ======== Trophies ======== Gallery ------- Here, you can view each trophy you've collected individually. You see the image of the trophy, as well as a description of it, along with the year the game that character is from came out. Lottery ------- Here, you can put Coins you've collected from battles into a machine, and win random trophies. The odds of getting a new trophy you haven't collected yet are shown, and the more Coins you add, the better your chances are! Collection ---------- View all the trophies in a room here. You can zoom in and out, and look around the room if you want. ======= Options ======= Rumble ------ Choose if you want the rumble feature of the controller on or off. Sound ----- Modify the sound/music settings for the game. Screen Display -------------- You can adjust the sharpness of the screen here. It's recommended you keep this on, since it makes the graphics look nicer. Language Display ---------------- Toggle between Japanese and English menu screens here. Erase Data ---------- Obviously, you can erase several types of saved data you have stored here. ==== Data ==== Snapshots --------- You can view snapshots you took in camera mode in the regular game here. Archives -------- You can view one of two movies here, details listed below. Special Movie: This is basically a demo video of this game, like you'd see on game previews or on commercials! How to Play: Watch a movie on how to play the game, and use the controls. Melee Records ------------- Here, you can view the records in this game, including matches played in VS. mode. There is a list of all Bonus Points you can view, as well as a general list of statistics regarding normal gameplay. Special ------- View information on hidden characters/events you've unlocked. It's basically just a list of messages that appeared when you unlocked something, and the time/date they were unlocked. ***************************************************************************** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -= 6. Items -= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Barrel Cannon: This giant barrel with an arrow sign on it is used just like in the Donkey Kong games. Throw it at an opponent, then the barrel will spin and shoot them in a random direction. Beam Sword: This light saber is great to use, since it's pretty powerful when used as a Smash attack. Its range is pretty decent, and it can be helpful when trying to knock someone off the edge of the arena! Bob-omb: Small black bomb that starts walking if you don't pick it up quick enough, then it'll explode after several seconds. If you touch it while it's walking, it'll explode and inflict damage on you. Pick it up while it's standing still and throw it to attack someone else. Bunny Hood: When you wear this hood, you can move twice as fast as you could go normally. Cloaking Device: Use this to become totally invisible! You cannot be seen at all when standing still, and you can only see rough outlines when moving. When you attack, you become visible for a moment, though. It lasts only for a limited time, too. Fan: This item is very weak and barely does damage to opponents when hit. You can swing it several times very quickly, but that takes too much time and is basically useless. Just throw it at an opponent to cause damage, and get something better! Fire Flower: Breathe fire to hit opponents close to you. After a while of usage, it'll run out, which you can then throw it at the opponent to cause further damage. Flipper: This spinning flipper-type thing is another new item, and it's pretty useless, in my opinion. You throw it somewhere, then when someone touches it, it starts spinning. If someone else hits it, they'll get knocked in another direction. That can be good or bad, depending on how you use this, though! Food: There are many types of food items that can be dropped in the battle, all of which can heal you. Each food item heals a certain amount of your percentage meter; it just depends what you get! Freezie: This ice block glides along the floor in one direction, and if you throw it at another opponent, they'll become frozen! You're then free to attack that frozen player as much as you want for a few moments, until they thaw out. Green Shell: This version of the shell weapon can be thrown at opponents to attack them. When it hits the ground, it'll continue moving in the direction it was thrown, hitting anyone in its way. If it misses all the players, it'll just slide off the ledge and out of the arena completely. Hammer: Another of the better items from the original game is back again! This hammer from the old Donkey Kong game is great; when someone gets it, the original DK music comes on and you constantly swing the hammer up and down. Whoever comes in contact with it goes flying and sustains lots of damage! The one downfall is that you cannot throw this one away once you pick it up; you just have to wait until it runs out! Heart Container: Recovers 100% damage. Home Run Bat: This powerful bat is just excellent! If you use it normally, it won't do much, but if you use it as a Smash attack (Forward + A), you can send the unlucky opponent that gets hit all the way out of the ring! It takes a moment to swing, so you have to time it just right so you don't end up being attacked before you attack! Lip's Stick: This mysterious flower is another fun item to use! When used, you sprinkle dust in front of you, and if it hits someone, a flower grows on their head. That flower slowly drains their power, raising their percentage. It falls off after a while, though. Maxim Tomato: Recovers 50% damage. Metal Box: This green exclamation box turns the character that takes it into metal. They cannot be damaged or thrown too much in this state, which helps you in a way since you can still move as fast as normal. It lasts for only a limited time, though. Motion-Sensor Bomb: This can be a really fun thing to set down as a trap! Pick it up and throw it on the ground, where it'll then stay and activate. If anyone touches it, it'll explode and cause lots of damage to whoever hit it! Mr. Saturn: This walking head creature from EarthBound is pretty interesting in this game. It doesn't actually get used as a weapon, but it walks straight ahead, pushing items in its way off the edge of the platform it's on. You can throw Mr. Saturn at an opponent to cause some damage, too. Parasol: This little red unbrella has 2 purposes as an item. You can use it to attack the opponents, which is good. Also, when you jump and are holding this item, you'll float slowly back to the ground, which prevents you from falling off the stage that easily. Poison Mushroom: This item can be truly annoying, since it disguises itself as a regular mushroom. You won't know if it's the Poison or Super one unless you grab it. If you get this one, you become tiny for a limited time. Your attacks are much weaker and you can't really move as fast. Poké Ball: This little red ball from the infamous series on the GameBoy and GameBoy Color units does what it's known for: holding Pokémon! Pick it up and throw it to hit an opponent, and if it lands on the ground, a random Pokémon will come out. Ray Gun: Use a laser gun like Fox's to shoot beams straight ahead. They aren't too powerful, but they're good for knocking an opponent further and further away! After several shots, though, it runs out, leaving it useless unless you throw it to cause damage! Red Shell: This is a more advanced version of the Green Shell. You can throw this one at opponents as well, but when it hits the ground, it moves back and forth along the platform to try and hit anyone standing on it. When someone steps on the same platform the shell is moving on, the shell will move closer, so be careful! Screw Attack: This small orb with the lightning symbol in it is from the Metroid series, and it's great in this game! When you hold it, whenever you jump, you do a Screw Attack, which damages any opponents you hit! You can use it as long as you want, until you throw it away. Starman: Makes you invulnerable to all attacks for a limited time. Star Rod: This magical rod from the Kirby games is back once again! You can swipe at enemies with it, or use it as a Smash attack (Forward + A) to shoot stars straight ahead. The amount of stars you can shoot is limited, but you can continue using it as a close-range weapon as long as you want. Super Mushroom: This normal-looking mushroom makes your character become giant sized when you get this. Your attacks become stronger, and you can move faster in this state. It lasts only for a limited time, as do most other items. Super Scope: This old accessory for the Super NES makes a return as an item in this game! This gun is great since there are several types of shots you can make at the other players. Tap A quickly to shoot rapid small shots; press and hold A to charge it up. After a full charge, you'll automatically shoot a giant shot straight ahead. The downfall is you can't move while charging, and the charge doesn't hold. Also, you have limited usage of this item due to its batteries, so remember that smaller shots take less power than the charged ones! Warp Star: Fly away quickly on one of Kirby's stars, then crash into another opponent to cause lots of damage! ***************************************************************************** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -= 8. Stages -= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= =================== Classic Mode Stages =================== (Note: This is not going to be a walkthrough for each level in Classic mode, since all the battles are random. The only predetermined factor is what type of enemy you'll face, so here's a list of what you fight in each stage.) Stage 1: 1 Regular Opponent Stage 2: 2 Regular Opponents + 1 Ally Stage 3: Bonus Stage (Break the Targets) Stage 4: 1 Regular Opponent Stage 5: 1 Giant Opponent + 2 Allies Stage 6: Bonus Stage (Snag Trophies) Stage 7: 1 Regular Opponent Stage 8: Enemy Team (15x) Stage 9: Bonus Stage (Race to the Finish) Stage 10: Metal Opponent Stage 11: Final Boss (depends on difficulty setting) ===================== Adventure Mode Stages ===================== (Note: This is not going to be a walkthrough for each level in Adventure mode, either. You fight the same enemies in each specific level, but there's no real need for me to tell you how to fight some enemies. Below will be a list of what you do in each stage, tips on where to go, etc.): Stage 1 (Mushroom Kingdom): Play through stage, fight Yoshi team (10x). Continue to flagpole to reach the main stage battle. Fight and defeat Mario and Peach to clear the level. Stage 2 (Kongo Jungle): Fight 2 mini-Donkey Kongs. Beat them to move onto the next arena and fight the Giant DK. Beat it to clear the level. Stage 3 (Underground Maze): It's basically a maze here, not a big deal though. Defeat the Zelda-type enemies around here until you find rooms with the Master Sword in it. Approach to fight one of the differently colored Links. Beat him to move on. When you find the Triforce, you clear this area. In the next area, fight and defeat Zelda to beat the level. Stage 4 (Brinstar): Fight and defeat Samus to move ahead to the next area of Brinstar. You have a limited amount of time to escape before the planet self-destructs. Keep moving upward until you reach the very top, and you'll clear this stage. Stage 5 (Green Greens): Fight 1 regular Kirby. Beat it, then move on to the Team Kirby (15x). Beat all of them and a Giant Kirby will appear. Giant Kirby only appears if you escaped Brinstar at the end; if not, the Team Kirby is the last battle here. Stage 6 (Corneria): Fight Fox aboard the Great Fox. Defeat him, and the rest of the Star Fox team will come to Fox's aid. Fight a quicker version of Fox again, while avoiding the Arwings flying around. Defeat Fox to beat this level. Stage 7 (Pokémon Stadium): Fight a total of 12 Pokémon characters here, sort of like a Team Pokémon. Beat them to clear the level. Stage 8 (F-Zero Grand Prix): Head straight ahead along the racing track. When the "!" shows up, get onto a platform above the track to avoid the pack of cars speeding ahead. Continue to the finish line to reach the next section. Fight and defeat Captain Falcon to clear this stage. Stage 9 (Onett): In Ness's hometown, you fight 3 Nesses. Get off the street when the "!" appears or else you'll be hit by a car! Beat all enemies to complete this stage. Stage 10 (Icicle Mountain): Head upward through this scrolling stage, jumping from platform to platform and defeating enemies along the way if you wish. At the top, fight 2 sets of Ice Climbers. Beat them to complete this stage. Stage 11 (Battlefield): Fight the Fighting Wireframe Team (15x). Beat them all to move on to the next round of fighting in this arena. Fight and defeat the Metal Mario Bros. to beat this level. Stage 12 (Final Destination): The final battle is fought here. The boss you fight is determined by the difficulty setting you set at the start. Beat whoever the opponent is and you'll beat this mode! ================== Stage Descriptions ================== Big Blue (F-Zero Grand Prix) Game From: F-Zero X Description: In this arena of sorts, you fight across a series of cars participating in a race around Big Blue! You start off on a giant version of the Golden Fox (car from F-Zero), and the screen scrolls downward to make you go on the smaller ones below. Make sure you land on the cars and not the track itself, or you'll get run over and lose right off the bat! Brinstar (Planet Zebes) Game From: Metroid Description: In this area out of a Metroid game, you play in the same fashion you did in the N64 Smash Brothers. The layout of this stage is a little different this time, giving you less platforms to jump upon. For the 2 side platforms, you'll notice they're bound to the main area by a slimy wall; attack the wall with strong attacks and you'll cause that smaller platform to tilt. The slime regenerates and rebounds the platform after a while, though. Also, the lava rises from the bottom of the area, so get to the high platforms when it comes, or you'll get hurt/shot out of the arena by it! Brinstar Depths (Planet Zebes) Game From: Metroid Description: This arena in Brinstar is quite different than anything you have tried previously. The entire area is a 4-sided rock, and a giant version of Kraid is in the background. Every now and then, he'll rotate the entire rock in a direction, which means you better get on the top part or else you'll fall off into the lava! Corneria (Lylat System) Game From: Star Fox 64 Description: As with the previous N64 version's rendition of this stage, you fight aboard the Great Fox here. The area is long, so there's not much of a hazard of falling off the edges. There are Arwings flying around that will sometimes attack you, so be careful when you see them coming so you don't get hit! Flat Zone (Superflat World) Game From: Game & Watch Description: Here in this 2D arena, you play right in the screen of a giant Game & Watch unit! Elements from several of the G&W games are here, too. This is a great area for nostalgia, especially since it's as vintage as you'll get with Nintendo! Fountain of Dreams (Dream Land) Game From: Kirby's Adventure Description: In this rather peaceful area out in the middle of space, it's hard to believe an actual battle takes place here. There's nothing here to worry about, but the platforms that move up and down, and that's it. Other than that, you can take in the nice scenery here and not much more. Fourside (Eagleland) Game From: EarthBound Description: Atop the skyscrapers of the big city of Fourside is where you fight in this "arena". Jump from building to building to get around, as well as the occassional UFO that flies overhead, to make your way across the area and fight! There's also many opportunities to knock your opponents off the edges of the buildings to their doom, so this can be tricky to fight on if you're not careful! Great Bay (Termina) Game From: The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask Description: This arena takes place in front of that laboratory in the Great Bay. The main platform is of decent size, and there are smaller platforms on both sides in case you drop off. If you fall in the water below the platform, jump out quickly before you sink and die! Also, the giant turtle from Majora's Mask is here as well; it sinks and rises every now and then, so be careful! Green Greens (Dream Land) Game From: Kirby's Dream Land Description: This scene straight out of a Kirby game is like all the others, apparently. As always, the tree known as Whispy Woods is in the middle, blowing you in either direction every now and then. There are piles of blocks on either side of the area, with bomb blocks mixed in, so be careful attacking the blocks to avoid the blast of missing and hitting a bomb! Hyrule Temple (Hyrule) Game From: The Legend of Zelda Description: Another Zelda-esque battle takes place in the ruins of an old temple in Hyrule, floating in the sky. It's a large area for you to wander around and fight in, and you can even follow the path down into the cavern area below the temple. Watch out when going low like that, or on the edges, because you can fall if you're not careful! Icicle Mountain (Infinite Glacier) Game From: Ice Climbers Description: This level right from the original Ice Climbers is true to the original once again. The stage itself isn't tough, but there are a couple weak enemies (Polar Bear and Topi) that wander around that you won't have trouble with. Also, the level scrolls upward and sometimes downward, so keep moving from platform to platform to keep up! Jungle Japes (DK Island) Game From: Donkey Kong Country Description: In this level, the sun is almost setting, and you're playing in front of DK's hut (or so it seems). There's water below the platforms, so avoid dropping in there or you'll lose. Other than that, there's nothing else to surprise you in this rather standard battle arena. Kongo Jungle (DK Island) Game From: Donkey Kong Country Description: Here, the fight takes place on a series of platforms in front of the waterfalls. You can just jump up or down from the smaller platforms onto the larger platform at the very bottom. At the right side, there are rocks you can land on if you get knocked off the edge of the platform. Also, there's a barrel cannon far below the platforms that you can fall into to be shot back up if necessary. Mushroom Kingdom (Mushroom Kingdom) Game From: Super Mario Bros. Description: This area based entirely on the NES classic, with music and all, makes a comeback here! Many elements from the original game are present, including the blocks you can hit to get items, and the platforms that rise when you jump off and sink when you stand on them. Even the background is nostalgic for those who played SMB back when it came out in 1985! It's still just as fun, even being played as a battle arena 16 years later! Mushroom Kingdom II (Subcon) Game From: Super Mario Bros. 2 Description: One of the hidden boards you can unlock is another nostalgic piece, right from SMB2 on the NES! Many aspects from that game are here as well, such as Birdo, Pidgit, and the logs coming down the waterfall in the background, which you can jump on when they start falling. You can even kill Birdo in this stage by attacking her 3 times; and she regenerates too! You can also ride on Pidgit's carpet when he flies by overhead, too. Nonetheless, it's another great stage for those who played this game back then, or just want to relive the NES days somewhat. Mute City (F-Zero Grand Prix) Game From: F-Zero X Description: This can be a difficult area for any person to fight on. It can be tricky when the area stops moving and you fight on the track, then you have a second after being warned to jump on the platforms, or it'll speed off leaving you behind! When the arena stops and the platforms are still out, be careful of stepping on the actual track, or you'll be hit by the racing cars that pass by! Onett (Eagleland) Game From: EarthBound Description: This street is from the town of Onett, complete with buildings and awnings to jump upon. The awnings above the windows of the middle building fall when too many people jump on them, so be careful (they go back up after a few moments though). When the "!" appears, get off the street or else you'll be hit by a car! You can also jump on the nests hanging above the west house, and they bounce when you jump on them. Pokémon Floats (Kanto Skies) Game From: N/A Description: This arena spans across giant inflated versions of several Pokémon. The screen scrolls around, making you jump onto the next Pokémon to avoid falling. Be careful not to get stuck too high or low, or else you may lose! Pokémon Stadium (Kanto) Game From: Pokémon Stadium Description: This flat arena with a couple of ledges floating in the air is not always as good as it seems. Every now and then, the entire area will change, turning it into a forest-like area or some other environment. You can fall off either side of this arena, so watch your step! Princess Peach's Castle (Mushroom Kingdom) Game From: Super Mario 64 Description: This arena is based atop the castle from Mario 64. There are small colored switches that appear every now and then, and when you hit one, something appears in the area, whether it be platforms or some blocks you can hit to get items. Also, every now and then a giant Bullet Bill appears and burrows into an area of the castle. It'll explode after a few moments, so be careful or you'll be blown away! Rainbow Cruise Game From: Super Mario 64 Description: This level is very similar to the Rainbow Ride level from the Super Mario 64 game. You start off on the floating ship, then after a while, the ship will tilt and you'll have to get up the platforms up and to the left of it. Follow the platforms and magic carpets around, and you'll end up back down on the ship. Venom (Lylat System) Game From: Star Fox 64 Description: Aboard the Great Fox again, this time spanning across its wings, shows the Mode 7 capabilities of this system! This time, you're flying over the surface of Venom, and the sun sets as time passes here. Flying debris comes towards you every now and then, so crouch down or get on the lower wings to avoid that. Yoshi's Island (Yoshi's Island) Game From: Super Mario World Description: For this arena, you fight in a scene right out of Super Mario World. It comes complete with the blocks that spin when you hit them, allowing you to drop through them, the diagonal pipes, and even the background and landscape looks nostalgic. Luckily, there are no real hazards here, but I do recommend you be careful when standing on the blocks in the ground in the middle of the area. If you attack, it may hit the block, dropping you through them, so watch out! Yoshi's Story (Yoshi's Island) Game From: Yoshi's Story Description: Here is a replica of an area in Yoshi's Story, complete with the flying Shy Guys and everything. When the Shy Guys fly by, if you can kill one, you can get the item it was carrying. Through the bottom area goes a track in which a cloud goes along. If you get knocked off, you may be able to jump onto there to be saved if the cloud's even there! Past Stages ----------- Dream Land Description: This version of Dream Land is basically the same thing as the newer version made for this game. The only difference is that there are no piles of blocks in the area. You still have to deal with Whispy Woods blowing you around every now and then, but that's no problem for you! Kongo Jungle Description: Back in the jungle of the N64 game, you can play at the REAL Kongo Jungle here. The moving platforms are here, as well as the barrel cannon that moves around below the bottom platform which can save you if you're falling! It's still fun to try this again for the second time around in this game, though. Yoshi's Island Description: We're going back to the old Yoshi's Island stage from the N64 game here. The stage remains true to its original, with the platforms and clouds that disappear when you stand on them long enough. Nothing here to worry about, but it can be fun to play in VS. Mode too! Special Stages -------------- Battlefield Description: Here, you can play in the same area where you fight the Wire Frame teams or Metal Mario. There's nothing here except for the 3 platforms in the air, so you can have an all-out battle here without worrying about hazards within the area! Final Destination Description: You fight in the empty arena where you fight Master/Crazy Hand, and any other bosses in the game. There's nothing here to worry about, so you can have a true free-for-all without level obstacles and other things in your way! ***************************************************************************** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -= 9. Event Matches -= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Event 1: Trouble King Description: Fight Bowser in a classic Mushroom Kingdom clash! Character: Mario Information: You're Mario fighting Bowser one-on-one. You must kill Bowser twice (take both his lives) to win, so just use your special moves to get the best of him, since Bowser isn't really that hard here! Event 2: Lord of the Jungle Description: A duel of epic proportions! Which ape is top primate? Character: Donkey Kong Information: This battle is interesting since you're a giant Donkey Kong versus a really tiny one! It can be difficult because most of your attacks are much higher up than the actual opponent. Use lots of low attacks, and if the small DK gets on a high platform, let loose with all your better moves. Beat it twice under 3:00 to clear this event. Event 3: Bomb-fest Description: Bombs are everywhere in this explosive battle! Character: Any Information: In this bomb-filled madness, you fight against two bomb- dropping players (Samus and Link) atop the Mushroom Castle. All items that appear are explosives, and all Poké Balls release Electrodes, so things get pretty intense here! Make use of the Bob-ombs and other explosive items, and quickly dispose of the two opponents here to win. Event 4: Dino-wrangling Description: A giant Yoshi is on the loose! Somebody stop it! Character: Any Information: It's a one-on-one battle with you against a giant-size Yoshi! This can be tough, since the Yoshi is extremely large and you can't really avoid many of its attacks. At least it's a big target for you, so use lots of Smash hits to try and knock the giant Yoshi off the ledge and into the water to kill it. Event 5: Spare Change Description: Don't stop until you get 200 coins! Character: Ness Information: In this event, you are Ness and you have to collect 200 Coins. Coins pop out when either you or the opponent are attacked. Collect all the coins that come out until you have 200, and win! Keep in mind that when you're hit, you do NOT lose coins! Event 6: Kirbys on Parade Description: Look out! A rainbow of Kirbys is after you! Character: Any Information: Here, you fight 4 differently colored Kirbys at the Fountain of Dreams stage. The Kirbys are normal-sized and aren't too hard to defeat. Each color has 2 lives, so be quick to defeat them all quickly and easily! Event 7: Pokémon Battle Description: Use Poké Balls to duel with Pikachu. Character: Any Information: Fight against Pikachu by using the Pokémon from Poké Ball items ONLY! Both your normal attacks are ineffective, so you have to fight using Pokémon like this. Kill Pikachu twice (he has 2 lives) to win. Event 8: Hot Date on Brinstar Description: You're interfering with Samus's Brinstar raid! Character: Any Information: Fight against Samus at Brinstar, with over 100% damage on both of you to start. Kill Samus 3 times in order to beat this event. Event 9: Hide 'n' Shiek Description: Only Shiek KOs count! Wait for the change... Character: Any Information: You fight against 2 Zeldas here in the Great Bay area. The secret to winning is that you can only actually kill Zelda when she's fighting as Sheik. If you kill her when she's Zelda, it doesn't count. Time your final blows accordingly so you can end this quickly. Event 10: All-Star Match 1 Description: It's the Mario Stars: Mario, DK, Yoshi, Peach, and Bowser. Character: Any Information: Fight against all the stars of the past Mario games here, one by one! You fight each one in their home turf it seems, and when you defeat one, you automatically move to the next playing area and continue the fight. You don't recover in between opponents, but it's fortunately easy to conquer these fighters here! Event 11: King of the Mountain Description: Ice Climbers protect their turf! Just try to survive! Character: Any Information: Two groups of Ice Climbers attack you while you're moving upward through their scrolling Icicle Mountain. Simply avoid their attacks and stay alive for 1 minute and 2 seconds in order to win this event. Event 12: Seconds, Anyone? Description: Take out Capt. Falcon in less than seven seconds! Character: Any Information: This event may seem to be hard because of the requirement, but it truly is quite simple. Both you and Falcon start with 100% damage, so use someone strong to end this quickly. Just use Smash attacks a few times to knock Falcon out of the level and into defeat. Event 13: Yoshi's Egg Description: Protect the single remaining Yoshi egg from being broken! Character: Yoshi Information: This even is probably one of the tougher ones you have to go through so far. There is a Yoshi egg in the area and 3 enemies try to attack and destroy it. Fend off the enemies and keep hold of the egg if you can to protect it. When the level starts to tilt in the last 30 seconds or so of the match, pick up the egg and stay at the highest ledges possible, jumping to avoid the enemies. Just make sure the egg doesn't drop out of the arena completely and you should be alright. Event 14: Trophy Tussle 1 Description: Face off for a trophy! The prize this time: Goomba! Character: Any Information: Fight 3 computer opponents atop a giant Goomba. Beat each one twice to win this event, as well as a Goomba trophy! Event 15: Girl Power Description: A group of femme fatales has dropped by for a visit... Character: Any Information: Fight against Peach, Zelda, and Samus at the Fountain of Dreams stage. Beat all 3 of them twice in order to win this event. You also have 2 lives here, so you can afford to die only once; be careful! Event 16: Kirby's Air-raid Description: Warp Stars are everywhere! Climb aboard and hang on! Character: Kirby Information: This event is pretty difficult, since there are 15 Kirbys (5 onscreen at a time), and you can only harm them by using the Warp Stars. Quickly pick up every last Warp Star and hope you hit all the Kirbys before time's up, or else you'll lose! You must be quick to win this one, so it'll take several tries most likely to win here. Event 17: Bounty Hunters Description: Fight a fellow bounty hunter for the bounty on Bowser! Character: Samus Information: Bowser is on the loose in the jungle and you, along with a computer-controlled "ally" of Captain Falcon, have to kill it. The idea is to kill off Bowser by yourself. Just keep attacking Bowser yourself and keeping Falcon from even touching him, and you should have it if you defeat Bowser. Event 18: Link's Adventure Description: Everyone has a dark side... Link has two! Character: Link Information: You must fight Shadow Link at Hyrule Castle TWICE! Shadow Link has all the same moves as Link, but this time he doesn't mimic your every move. He is quick, however, so be cautious and attack often with strong attacks in order to win. Event 19: Peach's Peril Description: Bowser's after Peach! Again! Guard her until time runs out. Character: Mario Information: Like the description says, Bowser is after Peach yet again, and it's up to you (Mario) to save her! Bowser can be pretty tough, and he'll always try to get you out of the way before going for Peach. Just keep attacking Bowser with all your attacks, as well as any explosive items that appear, just to keep him away from her. Keep this up until the minute is over and you should win. Event 20: All-Star Match 2 Description: Nintendo's realistic stars are out in force. Character: Any Information: You have to fight against 5 more of Nintendo's stars in order to complete this event. Fight Samus, Link, Zelda, Captain Falcon, and Fox in their respective home turfs. Defeat one, and you'll warp to the next fighter's turf. Once again, your damage does not recover in between fighters, so stay alive and keep fighting to win this one! Event 21: Ice Breaker Description: Your cold mission... is to KO both Nanas. Character: Any Information: Your objective may sound simple, but it can get quite tough to complete. You have to kill both Nanas from the Ice Climber groups (Nana's the pink one). You must do this within only 1 minute, and without killing the other partner. Separate one group by attacking it, then grab and throw Nana around. Continue that until you get rid of her, then repeat with the second group to win. Event 22: Super Mario 128 Description: Battle 128 tiny Marios in a wild endurance match! Character: Any Information: Here, you fight a total of 128 tiny Marios in the Mario USA stage. I highly recommend using someone like Link, who has a good attack that can hit/kill several at once (his Up + B attack for example). Just stay alive and keep killing these guys until you wipe out them all, and victory will be yours. Event 23: Slippy's Invention Description: Slippy: With my new invention, you guys'll be invisible! Character: Any Information: Fight against totally invisible versions of Falco and Fox in this event! They both have 2 lives apiece, and are quite hard to defeat. You must be quick and able to see the outlines of their barely invisible forms, and attack powerfully from a distance to get them. Try to kill one of them off first, then concentrate on the other. You also have 2 lives, but that won't help you too much; you have to have some skill to win this! Event 24: The Yoshi Herd Description: Yoshis, Yoshis, everywhere! Defeat 30 within 2 minutes. Character: Any Information: There are a total of 30 colored Yoshis that come out to attack you, 3 at a time! You must defeat ALL of them within 2 minutes, so use someone with a good Up + B attack (that can get rid of each one with a single hit). Kill 1-2 at a time, and you'll get them all in no time. The last Yoshi to come out is a giant one, but that shouldn't be too hard to deal with; just attack it in the same fashion as the smaller ones and it'll be defeated as well. Event 25: Gargantuans Description: Giant Bowser VS. Giant DK in a spectacular war of titans! Character: Bowser Information: In this event, you're Giant Bowser going against a Giant DK, atop skyscrapers in Fourside City. The only real difficult thing about this fight is the limited space in which to stand on. DK has 2 lives, while you have only one, so you have to knock off DK as best as you can without hurting yourself too much. Don't use any wild moves; just keep using regular attacks and throw Giant DK around, and you'll be able to throw him off the building after a while. Repeat that twice to win! Event 26: Trophy Tussle 2 Description: Another match for a prize... Who will get Entei? Character: Any Information: You're put against 3 computer-controlled players atop a giant version of the Pokémon known as Entei. You must defeat all 3 opponents by killing each twice, so keep moving and use lots of strong attacks to cause lots of damage and possibly kill them off quickly. After you kill them all, you'll win this event and an Entei trophy! Event 27: Cold Armor Description: These metal bounty hunters take no prisoners! Character: Samus Information: You are a regular Samus fighting against 3 metal Samuses, and it is HARD! They're all obviously much stronger than you, all of them have 2 lives and you have 1! The best way of attacking is to hit them all with a series of strong attacks, such as Bombs. Try to kill off one opponent at a time, while avoiding the others if you want. You just have to stay alive to get through these enemies, and you'll win. Trust me, it's hard and will definitely take you several tries at least to beat it! Event 28: Puffballs Unite! Description: Kirbys galore... each with a unique copied ability! Character: Any Information: You have 2 minutes to fight and defeat the 14 members of this Kirby Team. Each Kirby has a different character's ability, which you can tell by the hat it's wearing. Kill off the Kirbys a few at a time with a couple good hits, and repeat that until you win. Event 29: Triforce Gathering Description: Enter Ganondorf! Team up with Zelda and fight evil! Character: Link Information: The evil Ganondorf has arrived at Hyrule Castle, and it's up to Link (you) and Zelda to stop him! You must beat Ganondorf twice since he has 2 lives, but that isn't exactly an easy task. He's really fast and has powerful attacks, so you have to be just as good to win! You also have to keep Zelda alive in order to win this event. After you beat Ganondorf twice, win his challenge and you have a new playable character as well! Event 30: All-Star Match 3 Description: Kirby, Pikachu, Ness, and Ice Climbers want to fight! Character: Any Information: As with the previous 2 All-Star Matches, you fight each enemy in their own home turf, one at a time. In this case, you have Kirby, Pikachu, Ness, and the Ice Climbers to deal with. You can't recover between fighters, so just try to last and kill these guys before they get you! Event 31: Mario Bros. Madness Description: A classic plumber clash in the Mushroom Kingdom! Character: Any Information: You fight the Mario Brothers in the old NES Mushroom Kingdom stage. There's not set requirements here; just a free-for all battle here with you versus them. You must kill them more than they kill you though. Just use lots of strong hits to knock one of them out, then the other. They have unlimited lives, as do you, so you must beat them more than they beat you within 2 minutes in order to win this event. Event 32: Target Acquired Description: Incoming Arwings! KO Jigglypuff more than they do! Character: Falco Information: Here, you're Falco atop the Great Fox flying over Corneria, and you have to fight Jigglypuff. Your comrades are in their Arwings shooting at Jigglypuff, but the objective is for YOU to kill Jigglypuff more times than the Arwings do. Use all of Falco's strong B-button attacks to knock Jigglypuff out of there as much as you can. After 1 minute, if you knocked the Pokémon out more than the Arwings, you win! Event 33: Lethal Marathon Description: Avoid the F-Zero machines and race for the finish. Character: Captain Falcon Information: This is the regular F-Zero Grand Prix course that you'd play in Adventure Mode. This time around, the game is running at 2x speed, meaning you move faster, time goes faster, and the cars come much quicker, which make things that much worse. You have 45 seconds to run all the way to the finish alive. Get onto a higher platform as soon as the "!" shows up to get away from the cars, and continue running and jumping across platforms until you reach the end, winning the event! Event 34: Seven Years Description: Young Link VS. Link! How can you fight yourself? Character: Young Link Information: This battle between the same person in two different ages is really an interesting battle. Both of you have 3 lives to use in this fight at the Great Bay. Anyway, Link can be a bit hard to deal with, so stay airborne and use lots of dropping attacks on him to cause damage, then come down and hit him with some solid attacks if possible to knock him away. Then, continue that 2 more times and you'll win this event easily! Event 35: Time for a Checkup Description: Are routine physicals supposed to hurt this much? Character: Luigi Information: Here, you must fight Dr. Mario and Peach, who are the doctor and nurse to go with the event title. Anyway, this is truly HARD to get through, since from the second the battle starts, they come pounding on you! Stay away from them when they're together, and launch long distance attacks from a safe place. Be quick about it since you have a 3 minute limit, but it's still going to be tough. Perhaps they'll misstep and fall off the arena without you even hitting them there! Event 36: Space Travelers Description: Adventurers head for Earth: Ness is the welcome wagon. Character: Ness Information: For this easier event, you fight a series of 5 opponents, one at a time. The order is Samus, Kirby, Fox, Captain Falcon, and Falco. When you beat one, the next appears, and you can't recover either without items, so be prepared to fight! For the last 2 guys here, be really careful since they tend to have more powerful attacks in store for you, and you'll probably be worn out at that point. Quickly dispose of them and this event will be done. Event 37: Legendary Pokémon Description: A slew of legendary Pokémon are all the help you'll get! Character: Any Information: You are put against 4 giant wireframe players, as well as a Jigglypuff. Each of them have 2 lives and you only have 1, and you obviously have to defeat them all. Poké Balls are plentiful here, and they all have legendary Pokémon inside, which are quite powerful. Just get every item that drops and let the Pokémon attack your enemies, then hit them with some of your own moves, and this'll be done in no time! Event 38: Super Mario Bros. 2 Description: The cast of the classic NES title are raring to go! Character: Any Information: Fight Mario, Luigi, and Peach in the Mario USA stage, complete from the old SMB2 game! You all have 2 lives each, so fight them all as you would with any multi-opponent battle and you should be just fine. I recommend using someone like Link or Kirby, since their special moves can separate the entire group rather easily, making it somewhat easier for you to attack. Event 39: Jigglypuff Live! Description: Jigglypuff nabs the spotlight on center stage. Character: Jigglypuff Information: It's an all-Jigglypuff fight here! You all have 3 lives, and the same moves (you're all Jigglypuffs)! Use lots of the B attack (not the sleeping moves), and get your hands on any good items that drop by (Parasol, Home Run Bat, Beam Sword, etc.). This battle will go by quickly if you don't get caught in the middle of them all, and you knock each one away quick enough with your items/attacks. Event 40: All-Star Match 4 Description: Secret characters emerge to join forces. Character: Any Information: Fight 5 secret characters in their home turfs, in this order: Marth, Luigi, Jigglypuff, Mewtwo, and Mr. Game & Watch. Keep your damage low since you need to last through these battles, although you have 2 lives to spare this time around. Beat them all to win this event. Event 41: En Garde! Description: The lithe Marth challenges Link in a battle of steel! Character: Marth Information: You are Marth put against Link for a nice swordfight in the castle of Hyrule. You each have 2 lives, but don't take this battle lightly! Link is quick and does not stop for a second and not attack, so you must stay on your feet and land some powerful blows whenever possible to win this one. Event 42: Trouble King 2 Description: Hey, Mario! When did Bowser get so big, huh? Character: Luigi Information: It's a battle high in the skies atop giant Pokémon against the big bad Bowser! You are Luigi going against a giant- sized Bowser, both of you with 2 lives. Bowser is very powerful and can usually knock you out of the arena with a couple good hits, so try not to get hit while you land all your shots on him. Basically it's a fight of survival, since Bowser tends to mess up and fall off the Pokémon after a while, so be careful and you can do it! Event 43: Birds of Prey Description: Capt. Falcon and Falco join forces to take out Fox! Character: Fox Information: You are Fox and you have to fight Captain Falcon and your "comrade" Falco atop the F-Zero cars during a race! The area scrolls, making you jump onto the smaller cars below, floating ledges, and the giant car you start off on. The objective is to defeat your opponents twice each, before they kill you! You're all quick, so stay away from them when theyre together, and use your B button and Smash attacks to knock them off. If you don't like that, use your own methods of attacking until you end up winning this lethal race along Big Blue! Event 44: Mewtwo Strikes! Description: Don't waste your time battling Zelda... Character: Any Information: This event may seem like just an easy battle against Zelda, but not everything is just what it seems! The trick in this event is that you can NOT kill Zelda in order to win! Just avoid her until Mewtwo appears, then fight and defeat Mewtwo ONLY! I know this can be tough, but it can be done, so just direct all your attacks on Mewtwo only; it'd be easier if you can separate both of them somehow before attacking. Event 45: Game & Watch Forever! Description: The system that started a worldwide boom lives on! Character: Mr. Game & Watch Information: Fight in an old-fashioned world with new rules here with Mr. Game & Watch! You're put against 25 clones of yourself, and 3 are out at a time to fight. I'd recommend using your Forward + A attack as often as possible, and to stay away from the opponents; let them come to you! Watch out for the obstacles and other things that happen from the Game & Watch games, and you'll be alright here. Event 46: Fire Emblem Pride Description: The heroes of Fire Emblem join forces to fight you! Character: Any Information: A classic battle with whoever you pick (I recommend Mewtwo) versus Marth and Roy. You all have 3 lives, so make good use of your lives and fight hard! I like Mewtwo since he's quick, and his stun and Confusion moves are really helpful to keep things going. Also, I like his jumping, which you'll need to do alot to avoid their sword attacks! Event 47: Trophy Tussle 3 Description: Want a new trophy? Here's your shot at Majora's Mask. Character: Any Information: Fight 3 computer opponents atop a giant version of Majora's Mask, for a chance to win the event and the trophy of the mask itself! Everyone has 2 lives here, and it can get quite congested fighting here, especially in the middle area, so be careful! With whoever you use, use lots of attacks that can be quickly done to hit everyone at once. The quicker you get rid of one or two of them, the easier the rest of this fight will be! Event 48: Pikachu and Pichu Description: These Pokémon are pals... but not with you! Character: Any Information: You're put against 2 Pichus and 1 Pikachu in Dream Land for this event. They all have one life each, while you have two, but don't let that make you think it's going to be easy! They are relentless with their electrical attacks from the start all the way until the end. They're hard to knock completely out of the arena, and it's hard for you to pull off some strong moves without being hit! Anyway, your objective is to kill off the 2 Pichus that the Pikachu seems to be guarding (which explains for the fact that you can't totally kill it off). Knock Pikachu away somehow, then go for the 2 Pichus. After you kill them, the event is done. Event 49: All-Star Match Deluxe Description: Dr. Mario, Falco, Ganondorf, Roy, Young Link, and Pichu! Character: Any Information: Now, this is going to be the toughest all-star match that you have faced so far in Event Matches! You fight 6 opponents, 1 after another, with no way of healing, and it gets TOUGH! For the last couple battles here, you fight such difficult guys that you'll NEED to not have died or lost much damage in the first several rounds here. You have 2 lives and 4 minutes to win this, so be quick and skillful to win! Event 50: Final Destination Match Description: Master Hand's the right hand; now meet the left! Character: Any Information: Here, it's you against 2 bosses: Master Hand and Crazy Hand! They both have 300HP apiece, and you only have one life to spare, so this may be tough. I'd recommend using Yoshi for this one, and go for the Crazy Hand (the left one) first. Use Yoshi's Down + A attack in the air to cause around 30HP damage with each pass. Avoid both hands' attacks until you kill the left one. Then, follow the same attack pattern as the first one and you'll be able to win this one! (Thanks go out to CyricZ for telling me he used Yoshi and that move to beat this!) Event 51: The Showdown Description: Giga Bowser, Mewtwo and Ganondorf unite! Character: Any Information: The final event is obviously one of the hardest ones you'll face in this game! You must fight and defeat Giga Bowser, Mewtwo, and Ganondorf all at once; they all have 3 lives each and so do you. I have a pretty simple strategy here, which I found over at the GameFAQs message boards. Anyway, pick Kirby and hang off the edge of the arena. Press Down to drop, then fly back upward just enough to hang off the edge again. Meanwhile, all 3 of the enemies are above trying to attack you, but basically everything misses. Repeat that process, and after a while, Ganondorf will jump off a few times, losing all his lives. Repeat that until Giga Bowser is gone as well, leaving you with Mewtwo to deal with (since Mewtwo's usually the one that doesn't fall for this trick). Get back up and fight Mewtwo fiercely, and you can win it! ***************************************************************************** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -= 10. Just watch out for the flippers moving around here as well, since they can really be a pain! ========= Ganondorf ========= Here's another rather linear board where all the targets move, allowing you hit them in any order you like. Target 7: At the end of the bridge, drop down to the small ledge to the right. Jump to the left and fly to the first target (use only one puff since you need to make it across the entire pit and hit 4 targets). Press Forward + B to punch the target. Target 8: Still in the air, fly a couple more puffs to the left and punch the next target (Forward + B). Target 9: Same as #8. Target 10: Same as #8. ====== Mewtwo ====== Target 1: Jump up and hit the target floating slowly above you. Target 2: Hit the target surrounded by the blue cursors below you (avoid touching the blue or you'll get hurt, not like it really matters). Target 3: Get back to the starting platform, then get to the right side and fall through it. Hit the target directly below you, as well as the one right below it. Then, quickly teleport (Up + B) upward and onto a platform again. Target 4: Same as #3. Target 5: Get onto the left or right platforms below the starting one, and hit the target when it comes out of the top of them. Target 6: Same as #5. Target 7: Get up to the starting platform again, then double jump and hit the target surrounded by the red cursors. Target 8: Drop down to the starting platform once again, then get to the left side of it. Double jump, then teleport upward through the thin platform. Hit the target there. Target 9: Jump out of this little area and hit the target on the other side of the right wall. Then teleport back up to the ledge you jumped from. Target 10: Double jump to the right and hit the last target in the air. ================ Mr. Game & Watch ================ Again, this Target Test is another linear one, where you can hit the targets in any order you wish. Since this level's like that, I'll just let you do what you will and come up with your own patterns of getting them all quickly! ===== Marth ===== Target 1: Jump straight up, then use your Up + B move to hit the target. Target 2: When you land, go left slightly and jump up through the next hole. Jump to the left and hit the target against the wall. Target 3: Double jump and get to the upper ledge to the right. Jump up to the platform right above it, then jump and hit that target. Target 4: Double jump up and to the right, making it over the wall. Hit the target on the other side. Target 5: Get back down to the platform in the air you were on previously, and jump left onto the top of the wall. Then, jump and hit the one above the Flipper. Target 6: Jump over the Flipper and hit the target above the pit. Target 7: Drop down the pit and avoid the Flippers, then wait for the moving platform below to get right under you. Then, drop through the thin floor and crouch down on that platform. When it passes to the left side of the Flipper, get up and stand at the leftmost part of it. At the platform's leftmost point, hit the target to the left. Then, get back down as the platform moves to the right again. Target 8: Same as #7, but hit the target above you this time. Target 9: At the platform's rightmost point, jump to the right onto the starting area. Head right and jump up and right onto the ledge through the last hole in the ceiling. Hit the nearby target that's moving up and down. Target 10: Go right and drop out of this area, then hit the final target on the way down. === Roy === Target 1: Jump up and hit the target above you. Target 2: Jump to the ledge to the right, and hit the target moving up and down. Target 3: Hit the target to the right, which is surrounded in a box-like wall. Target 4: Jump up, then on the way down, hit Down + A to swing your sword downward. If done correctly, you'll swing through the floor below you and hit that target. Target 5: Jump onto the higher area of this platform, then double jump to the left so you just pass the Flipper. Use your Up + B move to go upward and hit the target on the platform. Target 6: Get onto the platform of the target you just hit, then jump left onto a higher platform. From there, jump up and hit the target in the air. Target 7: Jump to the left and hit the target with a regular attack in the air. As soon as you hit it, hold Right on the Control Stick and land on the starting platform below. Target 8: Double jump to the left and past the Flippers, then use your Up + B move to land on the far left platform. Hit the targets there. Target 9: Same as #8. Target 10: Double jump to the right, but don't pass the Flippers. Use your Up + B move to hit the final target next to the upper Flipper. ***************************************************************************** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -= 12. Defeat Falco after you complete that, and you can play as him. ============================== Unlock Final Destination Stage ============================== To unlock the Final Destination stage, you must complete all 51 Event Matches. ====================== Unlock Flat Zone Stage ====================== To unlock the Flat Zone stage, you must complete 1-P Classic mode at any difficulty/stock with Mr. Game & Watch. ===================== Unlock Fourside Stage ===================== To unlock the Fourside stage, you must play at least 100 matches in VS. mode (without quitting). ================ Unlock Ganondorf ================ To unlock the evil Ganondorf, complete Event 29. You will then be challenged by Ganondorf; defeat him and you can play as him from then on. ================= Unlock Jigglypuff ================= To unlock Jigglypuff, simply complete the game in 1-P Mode at any difficulty/stock (Adventure or Classic). ========================= Unlock Kongo Jungle Stage ========================= To unlock the Kongo Jungle from the N64 version of this game, complete the 15-Minute Melee. I'd recommend using Donkey Kong and constantly use his Down + B move the entire time (thanks to DEngel's Secrets guide, for I used that strategy to unlock this myself)! ============ Unlock Luigi ============ To unlock Luigi, in Adventure Mode, complete the stage with a 2 in the seconds meter (03:12:43 for example). You'll then view a scene where Luigi comes and kicks Mario away so he can fight you with Peach. Defeat them both, then go on and complete Adventure Mode. You'll have to fight Luigi; defeat him and you can play as him. ============ Unlock Marth ============ To unlock Marth from the Fire Emblem series, complete Classic mode with all 14 regular characters (not ones you've unlocked). Marth will then challenge you; beat him to gain him as a selectable character. Alternatively, you can simply use every character as a human player in VS. Mode, and get a challenge from Marth that way. ============= Unlock Mewtwo ============= To unlock Mewtwo, play in VS. Mode for either 20 hours (Combined VS. Play Time total), or play 700 matches (without quitting) in that mode. After either requirement is met, Mewtwo will challenge you; beat him and you can play as Mewtwo! ======================= Unlock Mr. Game & Watch ======================= To unlock Mr. Game & Watch, you must complete either Classic or Adventure 1-P mode with ALL characters at any difficulty/stock, regular and hidden (that includes Mewtwo). After you do that, you'll be challenged; win this battle and you can play as Mr. Game & Watch! ================================ Unlock Mushroom Kingdom II Stage ================================ To unlock the Mushroom Kingdom II stage, which is from Super Mario Bros. 2 on the NES, simply collect a Birdo trophy. The trophy is random, but when you find/win it, you get this stage. ============ Unlock Pichu ============ To unlock Pichu, complete Event 37 (Legendary Pokémon). Pichu will challenge you; win and you'll be able to play as Pichu! ======================== Unlock Poké Floats Stage ======================== To unlock the Poké Floats stage, you must play at least 200 matches in VS. mode (without quitting). ========== Unlock Roy ========== To unlock Roy, also from the Fire Emblem series, complete Adventure Mode using Marth at any difficulty/stock. Roy will challenge you; defeat him and you can play as him. ==================== Unlock Score Display ==================== To unlock the Score Display option in the Options menu, you must first have 5,000 KOs logged in VS. Mode gameplay. After you do that, this option should be unlocked. ================= Unlock Sound Test ================= To unlock the Sound Test mode, you must unlock every hidden stage and character in the game. =========================== Unlock Yoshi's Island Stage =========================== To unlock the original Yoshi's Island stage from the N64 version of the game, use Yoshi and hit over 1,350 ft. in the Home-Run Contest. To do such, stand next to the Sandbag and TAP the X or Y buttons to jump, then use the Down + A move to hit the bag for around 30% damage each time. Do that about 4 times to get the bag up to around 100-110% damage. Since you won't have much time left, get the bat and use a Smash hit to send the bag flying. If you did it all well enough, you should make it well over the required distance. ================= Unlock Young Link ================= To unlock Young Link, complete Classic mode with 10 different characters at any difficulty/stock (1 of those characters must be Link). You'll then be challenged by Young Link; defeat him to be able to play as him in the game! ***************************************************************************** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -= 14. I usually do post submissions, credit given of course, so long as I feel they are relevant to the game in question. My email address is: dbmfaqs(at)gmail.com. Thanks for reading, and be sure to check out the rest of my work at this URL: http://www.gamefaqs.com/features/recognition/3579.html =- End of File -=
