Intro================ ---------------------------------------- This FAQ's been asked for many times on the GameFAQs Message Boards, but it just hasn't been around. After extensively helping a certain boardgoer - you know who you are - with the Spiral Tower dungeon, I was inspired to create this walkthrough. So... Yeah. I've done quite a bit of work putting this together, so I hope it helps. ^^; Oh, and one other thing. This FAQ was written under the assumption that you, the reader, have played the game, know the controls, and have followed the story. So, I hope you have. XD ---------------------------------------- ====2. Spiral Tower 101 - The Basics==== ---------------------------------------- Alright... The Spiral Tower is noted for being a bit frustrating at times. The main point of it is switching between Django And Sabata to complete both towers working in conjunction with each other and switching control through special panels. Django will be doing the bulk of the fighting, so the experience points will go, for the most part, where it matters. While Django's side has more fighting, Sabata will do a bit more puzzle-solving, since he can't gain anything by fighting. 'Sides, the fights are too easy as Saba-kun. Another big point of the Spiral Tower is that both characters must reach the top Between Towers floor at roughly the same time. If you get one of the brothers up there too early, then you might've missed something and, thus, are screwed. XD There's some rather hair-loss-inducing puzzles in the tower, too. For those of them that just make you gape at your GBA in a mix of stupification and rage, I'll provide some double-size ASCII maps for your puzzle-solving pleasure. Aaanyway, on to the walkthrough! ---------------------------------------- =============3. Walkthrough============= ---------------------------------------- -------------------- a. The Entrance - Kickin' down the doors -------------------- Welcome to Spiral Tower, the third-most-imposing task in the game! Let's begin at the beginning: Actually getting into the Towers! Sabata gives you a quick tutorial on how to open the doors beforehand, but I'll give you the basics, anyway. First, you need to open Sabata's door by performing a Dark Charge. So hide the Solar Sensor until that's done. Next, you need to do the same with Django, so get some sun! After doing both charges, the doors are open, so get in there and start wreaking some havoc, Solar-style! -------------------- b. The First Phase - It begins -------------------- As you enter, there's two grey Slimes. Ignore 'em, they aren't in the way. It's the third one you need to kill off. I reccommend Black Django with a spear. You should also see some wierd purple rune on the floor, with a Hint Panel next to it. This, as the Hint says, is a Change Magic Square. These things are ESSENTIAL to completing this, as they switch control between Django and Sabata. Don't bother switching now, though, since you won't get very far as Sabata. Start by killing that third Slime and going up to the second floor. Ignore everything else and run off to the west(up-left) to find... A dropout floor? Don't worry, though; it drops you next to a lever. Go ahead and stab it with a spear through the Slime in the way: You won't take a hit. The screen'll show an Iron Gate opening on Sabata's side, then it'll cut back to Django. All that's left is to push a block into a hole, switch to Sabata, and move him on to the second floor... -------------------- c. The Second Phase - Make the connection -------------------- ...Straight into a dead-end. But notice that there's a block up where Sabata can't reach? Use the Magic Square to switch back to Django. Go up to the second floor. You can't go to the next floor's stairs, since there's an Iron Gate in the way, so go to the east(down-right), but be careful of a couple of dropout floors on the way. There should be a door leading out to the scaffolding between the towers. In this case, you have a narrow ledge to cross, so slide on over to to Dark side of the Fo- err... Spiral Tower. The Dark side of Spiral Tower... Aaanyway, lookie-lookie, it's Sabata! Not to mention the block that Sabata couldn't reach earlier. Push it down to give Sabata a way to cross that pit. Now, just run back to the Sol Tower and switch to Sabata. As Sabata, cross the bridge and step on the Pressure Switch. And look! The gate on Django's side opened! As either brother, move on up the next few floors of no puzzles, stopping at Between Towers Floor 3 to heal up with the Lunar Bug Crystal. Once you've gotten both of 'em up to Between Towers Floor 5, hit the Pressure Switches to bring down a pair of elevator panels. Go up as Django first, but prepare for a fight! -------------------- d. Trap! Defeat the Sword+! -------------------- Congratulations, it's the first Trap fight! Nothing too serious, just a sword. It's got a definite pattern, too. Spin-and-Stab to Knife Summon to Follow Django to Shadow Twister and it begins again. Nothing amazing, just the norm. However, be careful of the knives it summons. They stab at you before starting to spin at you. Just run around to avoid those. Other than that and the obvious Sword attacks, this thing's nothing new, so drop a train on 'em! And remember: When the knives are spinning at you, you can whack 'em back at the Sword to give it some big damage, Count-of-Groundsoaking-Blood-style. After the fight, a teleport panel appears, along with a chest containing... A tarot card! Grab it and move on. -------------------- e. The Third Phase - A treasure room and a Pressure Switch -------------------- After leaving the Trap area, you'll notice... Treasure! The puzzles in the room are pretty simple, and involve Black Django and the Dynamite Spell. You should come out of it with a Sunny Clog, a Bearnut, another tarot card, and the Skull Suit, a clever reference to Metal Gear Solid 2 that makes you harder to notice. Anyway, move on outside, grab the map from the green chest, and run into the room upstairs. Be careful, though. There's a couple of Leys, the Ghost's Confusing cousin, just waiting for you to move. Bust them up before moving on. Kill the Golems if you want, but you'll want to move on at some point. Go off to the Between Towers area and spear the lever. Then, after the Iron Gate opens, switch to Sabata and make your way up through the puzzle-free floors. Get to Between Towers Floor 7, kill the Golem off to turn the Pressure Switch off, and watch as an Elevator Panel comes down in Sol Tower and an Iron Gate opens in Dark Tower. Stay as Sabata and go back to that gate... -------------------- f. The Fourth Phase - Beware of frustration -------------------- Get to the now-open Iron Gate in Dark Tower Floor 6 and take the stairs up to Floor 8... To see a Bok with a pouch on its head. Try not to laugh at the sheer stupidity of it all, kill the Bok, and grab the key from the pouch. If you thought that this was eerily easy, you were right. It was meant purely to knock you off-balance, because through that blue door lies one of the most imposing puzzles in the entire game. It's a great deal simpler than it looks, though, so don't let it frighten you. Unlock the door and step through to reveal... This: ---------- /\ / \ / \ / \ / /\ \ / /LE\ \ / / VR \ \ / / \ \ / / \ \ / / \ \ / / /\ / / / / /LE\ / / / /\ / VR/ /\ \ / /BL\/ / /RE\ \ To Sol Tower\ / /\UE/ \ /\ D/\ \ Floor 8 \ / /CH\/ \/BL\/ \ \ \ \ / /\NG/\ /\ \UE/\ \ \ \ \/ /HO\/RE\/ \ \/ \ CH\ \ \ \ /\LE/\ D/\ \ /\ \NG/\ \ \ \/CH\/ \/CH\ \/ \ \/BL\ \ /\ \NG \ \NG/\ / /\UE/\ \ / \ \ \ \/BL\ / / \/ \ \ / /\ \ \ \UE/\ / / /\ \ / / / \ \ \ \/ \/ / /CH\ \/ \ /\ \ \ \ /\ / / NG/ / \/ \ \ \ \/RE\ /RU / / / \ \ \ /\ \ D/\ \ST/ / / \ \ \/BL\ \/ \ \/ / / \ \ \UE/\ \ \ / / \ \ \/ \ \ \ / / \ \ \ \ \ \ /\ / \ \ \ \ LE\ \/BL\/ \ \ \ \VR/ /\CK/ \ \ \ \/ /HO\/ \ \ \ \LE/ \ \ \ LE\/ \ \ \ VR/ \ \ \ / \ \ \ / \ \ \/ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ /\ \ \/ \ \ \ To Dark Tower \ Floor 8 BL UE - Blue Path RE D - Red Path LE VR - Lever CH NG - Change Magic Square HO LE - 1-Depth Hole BL CK - Metal Block RU ST - Rusty Lever ---------- Confusing, no? It's really a lot simpler than it seems. When one color path is up, the other is down. Each non-rusty lever switches them, but you can't use two on the same height level in one go. Aaanyway, on to the steps. Step 1(Sabata): Hit the first lever you come to, pass over the now-down Red Path, and switch to Django. Step 2(Django): Get there(If he isn't there already), pass through the Blue Path, hit the lever, pass two Red Paths, and switch. Step 3(Sabata): Take the path north(up-right), pass the Blue Path, hit the lever, pass the Red Path, and switch. Step 4(Django): Pass the Blue Path, hit the lever, pass the Red Path, and switch. Step 5(Sabata): Pass two Blue Paths, hit the lever, pass the Red Path, and switch. Step 6(Django): Pass the Blue Path, hit the rusty lever. -=Puzzle Complete!=- There. All done! ...With this puzzle, anyway. Watch as a floating path comes down in Sol Tower and an elevator comes down in Dark Tower. Stay as Django and run into Sol Tower. Whack the now-reachable lever to push all the paths in that hideously-complicated puzzle down, leaving Sabata wide open to move. Don't switch just yet, though. You've got some Django stuff to do! -------------------- g. The Fifth Phase - Bombed mummies, flamethrowers, and Rock Block zaniness -------------------- After hitting that switch, run south(down-left) a ways to get a path into the next room. There shouldn't be any enemies in there, so run on down the hall to a set of three levers and a hall you can't get into. Don't hit the levers yet! Look into the hall. See that Mummy? Wait for it to line up with a lever, THEN hit that lever. Then, just wait for the Mummy to stop burning and repeat until it kicks it. After it's dead, up pops a blue chest with a key in it. Baaack up a bit, until you get to the nearby blue door. Unlock it, go up a floor and go out to Between Towers. Congratulations, you've encountered another frustrating point in the Spiral Tower. There's a set of flamethrowers across from a set of levers. There's two ways of doing this: The hard way and the cheap way. For the hard way, you need to hit the levers with a spear to stop the panel and wait for the flamethrower to shut off. Afterward, you hit the lever again to set the panel moving toward the next lever. After doing that a few times, you'll get to a small platform with a Change Magic Square and a Pressure Switch. Hit the Pressure Switch to drop an elevator. Wait, that's right: The cheap method. All you need to do is a.) Be unafraid to take a bit of damage, b.) Change into Black Django, and c.) Step onto the panel in Bat form. Remember: Bat Django can't get knocked off of ledges. The flamethrowers'll only damage you a bit, and you won't need to pay any Soll to Doomy or flip any tedious ol' levers! Now, switch to Sabata, already! Now, as Sabata, get to the Dark Tower elevator that was brought down earlier. Go up, and don't be frightened by what you see... The room will be filled with 1- depth holes, plus a few Rock Blocks. To start, you've got a set of three blocks to deal with, for a start. Push the first one east(down-right), the second one north(up-right), and the third one west(up-left). Next, you come to another set of three, and it's slightly trickier. Push the southern one east and the northern one west. Then, push the western block south three and west two. This'll lead you out to the elevator Django brought down. Goin' up! -------------------- h. The Sixth Phase - Combination clue -------------------- Get up to the next floor and go back into the Dark Tower. Hit the lever without hesitation to raise an Iron Gate on Django's side. Before switching, read the Hint Panel. It should say something like this: block square(s) [Direction] # to the of statue. The direction and number vary from playthrough to playthrough, so that's all I can tell you. Write it down, you'll need it later. NOW you can switch back to Django. Go back into the Sol Tower and go up a floor. You'll find a Hint Panel that'll read like this: Place the # to the , square(s) [Direction] the . See where the blanks are? Put the two hints together. You'll get the answer to the puzzle that's out of that Iron Gate Sabata raised earlier. Push the block to where the hints said and an Iron Gate'll open in the Dark Tower. Buuut... You didn't think this'd be simple, did you? -------------------- i. Trap! Defeat the Axe+! -------------------- Yep. That's right. An axe. Just like the Sword+, this thing's a pumped-up version of its Remains counterpart. Plus, its Red Shadow Boomerang attack is a lot more accurate. I hope you have healing items. The only advice I can give you on evading that is to run like an animated poleaxe were chasing you. Because one is. I recommend the spear for this battle, since you'll like keeping as far away from this thing as possible. Also, a good idea would be to wait until it swings itself at you before you attack it, since it won't be able to counter with the Red Shadow Boomerang. Just... Be careful. You don't want to rack up debt from Dark Loans, do you? Also, after losing a portion of its HP, the thing just goes BERSERK. It attacks constantly, teleporting off after every one. Be as careful as you can. Once again, no dying = no need to continue. No need to continue = no Dark Loans debt. After claiming victory, an Iron Gate'll open in Sol Tower, and a chest with a tarot card in it'll show up. Pick that up and head back in for the last few floors. -------------------- j. The Seventh Phase - The last gates -------------------- You're probably low on health after that fight with the Axe+. Be careful for a bit: Back in the Sol Tower, there's two Leys and a Golem, so proceed to the next floor with caution. If you need 'em, grab the healing items from the chests west of the Golem. Now, on to the next floor... To another puzzle. This one involving two Rock Blocks and an Elemental Block. ---------- /\ /\/\ \/\/ \/ /\ /\ /\ / \/RO\/ \ \ /\CK/\ \ \/ \/ \ \ /\ /\ \ / /RO\/EL\ \/ \CK/\EM/\ \/ \/ \ \ \\ \\\\\ \\\\ \\\ RO CK - Rock Block EL EM - Elemental Block /\ /\/\ \/\/ \/ - Pressure Switch -Step 1 Get the Rock Blocks here... /\ /\/\ \/\/ \/ /\ /\ / \ //\\ \ / \\/ \ \/ \ \ /\ \ / /EL\ \/ /\EM/\ /RO\/ \ \CK/\ \\ \/RO\\\\\ \CK/\\\\ \/ \\\ ...And Cloud Spear the Elemental Block to the square. -Step 2 Break either Rock Block and push it here... /\ /\/\ \/\/ \/ /\ /\ / \ /EL\ \ / \EM/\ \/ \/ \ /\ /\ / / \/RO\/ \ \CK/ \ \/\ \ \\ \ \ \\\\\ \ \ \\\\ \ \ \\ / / \ / / \ / \ \/ \ \ \ /\ /\ \ / \/ \ \ / \ \ ...Cloud Spear the Elemental Block onto the Pressure Switch, and Frost it down. -=Puzzle Complete!=- ---------- That should open an Iron Gate in the room. Don't go through it yet, though! You won't get any further. Go up the stairs to the next floor. There's another staircase leading to an elevator there. Go up the stairs, go to the elevator, and hide the Solar Sensor, because there's Solar Wind up on the next floor. Even though there's a Solar Path that'll make things quicker, you want to take the long way around, since there's some last items to get. Once you get across the scaffolding, take the elevator there back down to Floor 12. Once again, beware of Leys. You should find a lever next to a Change Magic Square. Give the lever a good whack to open the last Iron Gate in Sol Tower. Be careful, though: The Leys reappear after the gate-opening sequence. Kill them off and go south. Push the Rock Block into the hole, move back down to Floor 11, and exit where I told you not to earlier. You might want to save first, but do whatever you want. Django'll look around, find that Sabata isn't there, and, as though on cue, control switches to Sabata. -=Sol Tower Complete!=- Now, as Sabata, go through the Iron Gate that was opened earlier and ignore the Elemental Block. You can't do anything to it, so just go up to the next floor. Just Zero Shift through the grey Slimes and move on. You'll come to Dark Tower Floor 12, which is designed similarly to its Sol Tower counterpart. Go north, shoot the lever, and watch that last Iron Gate open. Go back to Floor 11, Zero Shift through the slimes, and exit stage west. -=Dark Tower Complete!=- Now, Django and Sabata will step on a pair of Pressure Switches, revealing the path to the Boss Room, holding the one and only Black Dainn within. You'll have the opportunity to heal up with a Lunar Bug Crystal beforehand, so do so. You'll need to be prepared for the next fight. -------------------- k. The Immortal Fight - Black Dainn -------------------- Yep. Dad's still posessed. After the usual pretentious banter before the fight, Dainn'll offer Django the opportunity to join the dark side. Star Wars reference, anyone? "Django... I am your father... Join the Dark Side..." Anyway, unless you want a Game Over, don't accept, but prepare to fight, instead. This starts similarly to the first battle with Ringo in the Remains. Dainn floats around using Ringo's attacks while Sabata charges a Black Hole. However, this time, there's no Gun Del Sol for the boss. Instead, he summons a trio of orbs every so often that float at you and hurt BIG TIME. So bide your time until the Black Hole charges. After taking so much damage, Dainn'll bust free from the Black Hole, knocking Sabata out and leaving Ringo's body as a much blacker version of him. Things change, here. Dainn gets a bunch of new attacks, including a REALLY painful Dark Blast attack, plus a Shadow Melt thing, turning him into that claw of shadow that busted Otenko down in the Remains, Shadow Arm . He takes a great deal more damage, now, though he also deals more. Be careful: It's hard to see him when he's a shadow like that. On another note entirely, Black Django takes much less damage from Dainn's attacks. Just something to consider while you're whittling away at his health. [I get the worst feeling that I'm missing something, here. Email me and let me know if there's anything I don't have here.] -------------------- l. The Exit - Don't let the door hit you on your way out! -------------------- Well, now that the big black arrogant guy's been dealt with, it's time to drag him out, even if he decides to kick and scream! Start by dragging the coffin out one screen back and healing up. You'll want it. Then, head off to the Dark Tower. Now, if you have the Solar Coffin, you've got it made. Just zip on down to the ground floor with the Warp Magic Square and walk out. However, without that, it gets a bit complicated. Start by plopping it down on the Pressure Switch: A platform with a candle'll come down nearby. Flame spear it to raise the Iron Gate on the east side of the room. Now, you have a choice: If you want treasure, leave the coffin where it is and wander on to the next floor down. If you just want to get all this over with, then skip to the next paragraph. Now, if you're reading this, it's time to get some swag for your trouble! In Dark Tower Floor 10, there was that Elemental Block. Hit it with an Earth attack to get rid of it. Go a bit further down to grab a Scale Mail in the first chest, a Magic Sword in the third chest, and a Mimic in the second one. So don't open the middle chest! Anyway, on to getting out without the Solar Coffin. Drag the coffin out through the Iron Gate you just opened. Welcome to the Express Elevator to Floor 4. I bet you wish you had this earlier, eh? Whack the lever to go down. After the elevator stops, go back into the tower. Let go of the coffin for a second to push the nearby Rock Block into its hole. Now, if there's a line of Boks ahead, spear 'em from behind as Black Django to knock 'em into the dropout floors. Then, drag the coffin onto the dropout floors after 'em. Don't worry, the Boks disappeared in the fall. Now, drag the coffin out through the next few floors, out of the tower, and over to... The Pile Driver. -------------------- m. The Grand Finale - Purification time! -------------------- Pile Driver active! Initiate Purification! This is just a basic purification, really. Just like all the others. The Ectoplasm flies around, trying to deactivate the Solar Piles. Plus, Dainn tries to smack you around a bit with those Dark Orbs. Hit 'em to knock 'em out. Aside from all this, it's basically all endurance. Just keep knocking Dainn's Ectoplasm back into the coffin to deal more damage. When you're done, Dainn's destroyed and, unfortunately, ol' papa Ringo has to go, too. However, he leaves behind a little... Present for his Solar son. You've finally got the Gun Del Sol back, but... It's broken? Well, Smith used to be a gunsmith, so... You know the drill. Take it to Smith and get it repaired. It's no longer the awesome piece of mystic machinery it once was, but it'll have to do. Well, that's it! You're done with the Spiral Tower! Congratulations! Now the GameFAQs Boktai 2 board won't get cluttered with the Spiral Tower Help topics. ---------------------------------------- ===========4.
