INTRODUCTION ============================================================================== Fire Emblem is a famous series in Japan. Fire Emblem was first released on NES, and FE5 was released for SNES. Based on Dengeki sales tracking system, the last Fire Emblem : Fuuin No Tsurugi (from now on I will refer to it as Fire Emblem 6 or FE6 for short), which were released March 28, 2002 in Japan, have sold 259,086 unit by March 30, 2003. This data was released by dengeki japan, who track sales of software in Japan. The next Fire Emblem (FE7) is Fire Emblem : Rekka no Ken, released in Japan on April 25, 2003, and in US on Nov, 2003. I made FAQ for FE7, so if you buy FE7 (or the English version, Fire Emblem), you can look up my FAQ on gamefaqs.com The latest Fire Emblem(FE8) will be released in Japan in Spring 2004. I remember forgoing one night sleep for "just one more turn" syndrome this game invoke in me. At that time, I was playing the Fire Emblem 3 for SNES. For you who enjoy this game, please try the Advance Wars game on GBA, also by Intelligent System and Nintendo. Advance Wars is another game that induce the "just one more turn" syndrome in me. You can get the latest version of this FAQ at GameFAQ (refer to the top of the FAQ for instruction). This guide is for the Japanese version of FE6. Update : By June 2004, there were still no confirmed news from Nintendo that there will be an English version of FE6. ============================================================================== 3. If the item selected is a weapon, then the menu is equip. If the item selected is an item (Door Key, Chest key, Vulnerary etc.) that can be used, then the menu is use. Trade : This option appear if there is another unit directly beside you. Use this option to change the selected item with your neighbour. The trade submenu will the show up. Discard : This is always the lowest option. Use this to throw away the item. Additional menu and their trigger : ARENA If your unit is on the arena square, you will be given this choice. You will then be told the amount of bet, (600-800), and you will need to choose YES (left one) to start the fight or NO (right one) to cancel your participation. If you lose, your character will die, and you will lose the bet money. If you win, your character will live, gain experience, and you will win 2x the bet money. You can use "B" button to cancel during the fight. You will lose the bet if you cancel, but your character will live. Pressing "B" button will only stop the fight in the next round, so you need to keep your eyes on your character health. Should you think that s/he may loose in the next round of fight, press "B" button. TALK If your unit is the Lord, this function is mostly used to recruit enemy. Usually, if a unit has a relationship with another unit, this unit will be able to convince other unit to join. For details on how to recruit a certain character, it can be seen in the chapter walktrough. Example : In chapter 7, on turn two, there will be two neutral unit. If Roy managed to talk to one of the unit, the unit will join your side and you can start directing their movement. If your newly recruited unit talk to the other neutral unit which is his friend (show together or have conversation), he will convince the other unit to also join your company. Another example : In chapter 4, on turn ??, Clarine (a neutral torubadour) were released by Rutger, an enemy myrmidon (notice the picture in the conversation before the release). Clarine will try to approach Roy, and have conversation with him. Once she talk to him, then she become your unit. Two turn after that, Rutger (the person that release the torubadour) will appear on the map and fight you as enemy unit (red color). If you move the torubadour to a square adjacent to the enemy, she can talk to him, and recruit him to your party. Hint : If enemy unit (other than boss) has a portrait and name, instead of generic name, usually it mean it can be recruited. You just need to find the right person (not always Roy, it can be somebody else) to recruit that character/unit. This can be done by certain character, usually character that is of the same class and has different opposite type (water and fire, for example). If the two characters have "support capability", then sometime this menu will appear when the characters are adjacent (side-by-side). I suspect that purpose of the talk menu in this instance is to give the initial support level (make it easier to get a support relationship) between both characters. SUPPORT This menu will show up once relationship between characters have reached a certain level. This can be done by certain unit, usually unit that is of the same class and has different opposite type (water and fire, for example). If the two unit have "support capability", then this menu will appear when the units are side-by-side. There are three type of support level : A (highest), counted as three levels B (medium), counted as two levels C (lowest), counted as one level One character can only have 5 levels of support. So, possible relationship example : Example 1 : Character 1 A level Character 2 B level or Example 2 : Character 1 B level Character 2 C level Character 3 C level Character 4 C level All of above relationship example used up 5 level of support, so this character can no longer have additional support with any other character. Indication that your character already have maximum support is that all support text will be green colored, instead of the standard Blue colored text. Detailed info on this will be explained on 5.7 Support List Example : your first two knight, Alen and Lance, have special relationship. Starting from chapter 3, you can have "support" between the two. After choosing this menu, there will be the name of the friend in the "weapon and support level", together with the support level (always start from C). If you wanted to know who wanted to support which, choose "Army List" from FIELD MENU, go to page 6, and anyone who can upgrade the support level will have the name of their partner show up on this page. Based on my experience, I will also write down on "section 5.7 Support List" which character can have relationship with that character. You can also look up the excellent support FAQ by Juigi before I complete the Support List. STEAL Can only be done by thief unit when they are adjacent to enemy unit, and the enemy unit has inventory that is neither weapon, book, staff. Every time you steal, you will get +10 EXP. Example : In Chapter 7, there will be an enemy unit (dragon rider) that has extra item, a red gem that can be sold for 3000. If you put your thief beside the enemy unit, he can steal the gem. Of course, you has to finish the enemy on the same turn, otherwise during the enemy turn, the dragon rider will attack your thief and most probably kill him, since thief is one of the weakest class. DOOR Can only be done by thief that still has useable lockpick or other class that has the Door key (see item list for more information). If thief that has both lockpick and Door Key wanted to use the Door Key, he/she will have to use the "item" menu, since Door menu automatically use the lockpick. Door Key is a key that have only one maximum usage. Once the Door has been opened, then "Door" become "opened Door" CHEST Can only be done by thief that still has useable lockpick or other class that has the Chest Key (see item list for more information). If thief that has both lockpick and Chest Key wanted to use the Chest Key, he/she will have to use the "item" menu, since Chest menu automatically use the lockpick. Chest Key is key that have five maximum usage. Once the chest have been opened, then "chest" become "opened chest". VISIT This will happen when you are in the square that denote open fence village. Using this option will trigger an conversation with the village resident, and usually you will get money or item. This option will also appear when you are in house square (house is single square, while village is usually 4 square or 2x2). MERCH This option will show up when your character stop in a square directly next to Merlinus. Choosing this will show another set of menu : Give : choose any of your character's item, and this item will be stored. Take : to get an item into your character's inventory There are many tabs (sword, spear, axe, bow etc) and you can navigate/change active tab using the d-pad left or right. Drop item : to drop an item from the caravan. Try to avoid using this option. You may unintentionally drop an important item (like the legendary weapon). RESCUE, TAKE, GIVE and DROP If your unit (A) is next to another unit (B), and A's Aid value is same or higher than the constitution value of B, then "Rescue" will show up. If you select this, then B will disappear from the map, since it become one with A. As a result of A rescuing B, A will have his "Skill" and "Speed" value halved and rounded down. The "Skill" and "Speed" value will return to the original value once A is no longer in the rescuing state, by dropping B, or having another character transfer B from his safe keeping. If you move a character (A) to square adjacent to the character in Aid state (B, Aided person C), if A's Aid value is same or higher than C's constitution value, then "TAKE" will show up. If you select this, C will be transferred from B to A, and B's penaly in Skill and Speed will dissapear, while A will get the Skill and Speed penalty. If A is in Aid state (have B in safe keeping), and there is another character (C), whose Aid value is same or higher than B's constituion value, "GIVE" will show up. Choosing "GIVE" will make B transferred from A to C, A will lose "Skill" and "Speed" penalty, and C will get the Sill and Speed penalty. If A is in Aid state (have B in safe keeping), and there is an empty adjacent square on A's position, "DROP" will show up. Choosing "DROP" and determining which square you want B to appear on, will result in B showing up on the designated square (B lose the Aid state damage protection), and A will lose "Skill" and "Speed" penalty, since A is no longer in Aid state. ? RIDE and EXIT When you are in Ballista square, the "RIDE" option will show up. It enable you to use the Ballista. If you wanted to stop using the Ballista, use the "EXIT" option, and you will dismount the Ballista. SEIZE Usually, every chapter will have the purpose of killing the boss. After you kill the boss, Roy (no other unit have this option) can go to the square that were occupied by the boss, and this option will show up. Choosing this option will end the chapter, and start any post chapter conversation. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3.3 FIELD MENU ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ If you press A in empty square (none of the character, either yours or enemies', is in this square), or you press A on any of your character that have finished his/her move in the turn (colored grey), the Field Menu will show up. There are always five options in this menu : UNIT STATUS OPTIONS SUSPEND END UNIT : Using this menu, it will show up all characters under your command that are in the current map. You can not change Roy starting position. To finish with these function, press A in empty space, and press A again. Start the game : Choose this last option to start the game. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3.5 UNIT STATISTIC EXPLANATION ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Name : The name of the characters Class : There are many type of basic / standard class, together with their upgraded class. For details of class type, please see section 5.3 Class List Level : Starting from 1, to a maximum of 20. If your class can be upgraded, using the correct upgrade item, you can upgrade once you were on level 10 or higher. It is better if you wait until level 20 before you upgrade. Benefit : Your attribute will be higher, since every level increase gave a possibility of attribute increase. Attribute that can increase during level increase is Max HP, Strength, Skill, Speed, Luck, Defense, Resistance. Con : It will take you longer to reach Level 20 of the upgraded class. Experience : Once you fight with enemy, either they attack you or you attack them, you will get experience. Once your experience reach 100, it will reset to zero, and your level will increase by one. The experience you will get follow this rule : A. When you reached level 20, you will no longer get experience increase, since you are at the maximum/highest level already. B. If you do not hit the enemy (either because they are out of your weapon range, or because you miss, or because your hit is "no damage/ zero damage"), you will get 1 experience. C. If you hit them, but do not kill the enemy unit, you will get (their level - your level)/2 + 10 (rounded down ?) EXP. This means if your level is higher than enemy, you will receive less than 10 EXP. But if your level is lower than the enemy, you will receive more than 10 EXP. The minimum is 1 EXP. For advance/upgraded class, the formula is complicated by the fact that not every upgraded class is treated the same. Once I found out how the upgraded class is considered, I will put it here. D. If you hit them, and kill the enemy unit, you will get (their level - your level)*3 + 30 EXP This means if your level is higher than enemy, you will receive less than 30 EXP. But if your level is lower than the enemy, you will receive more than 30 EXP. The maximum is 100 EXP. For advance/upgraded class, the formula is complicated by the fact that not every upgraded class is treated the same. Once I found out how the upgraded class is considered, I will put it here. Hit Point : Your character current Hit Point. As your character receive injury from the battle, their HP will go lower. To increase the HP, you can use Vulnerary in your inventory (through item menu) or if you have healer, you can use their healing staff to cure. Maximum Hit Point : This is the maximum amount of Hit Point. Whenever you heal, you can not exceed this value. Example : Your HP is 20, and your MHP is 29. If you use a Vulnerary, which will recover 10 HP, you HP should be 30. But since 30 is bigger than your MHP, which is 29, your HP will not become 30, but become 29 instead. Strength : This will affect the damage you inflict to your enemy. The higher the number, the more damage you inflict. Skill : This will be used to calculate the %hit. A higher number improves the unit's hit %. Speed : This affects both evasion and attacks. This will affect whether you will hit enemy once or twice, and also whether your enemy will attack once or twice. If the speed difference is 4 or higher, then the higher speed unit will attack twice. If you are using a weapon that have higher weight than your constitution, then your speed for calculating the number of attack will be affected. Example : enemy speed is 12. Your speed is 16. You should be attacking twice, while your enemy attack only once. But since you are using a weapon that have 12 weight, while your constitution is only 10, then your speed will be considered as 14 ( 16 - (12 - 10). This does not mean that if you are using a weapon that have lower weight value compared to your constitution, you will have an increased speed. Note : If you Use weapon that enable double attack, like Brave Axe, you will attack two times or four times. Luck : This affects many different things, like chance of getting buried item in sand area. This will also affect the calculation of the % hit. Defense : Reduces damage from weapons. This will affect how many damage you will receive from enemy attack that is not magic based. Resistance : Reduces damage from magic attacks. This will affect how many damage you will receive from enemy attack that is magic based. Movement : How much you can move in one turn. Please note that some square need more than one movement for a certain unit. If there is special treatment, I will note it in their own chapter walkthrough. For more information on terrain and their movement cost, please see 5.5 Terrain List. Constitution : This is your capability of wielding weapon. Try to avoid using weapon that has higher weight compared to your character constitution since it will make your % avoid value lower (see below for more detailed explanation), and may caused you to be attacked more often (twice instead of once) or attack less often (once instead of twice). Aid : This is a value that specified your Aid capacity. You can Aid a unit that have same or lower constitution value compared to your Aid value. If the unit have higher value in constitution compared to your Aid value, you can not Aid that unit. Please note that during Aid, your skill & speed will be halved (and rounded down), to reflect the fact that it is much harder to fight when you are carrying another unit. The benefit of a unit that was Aided is that they will not sustain any damage. Traveler : This value will only be filled when you are in Aid mode. The name of the unit that you are traveling with (AID) are mentioned here. Affinity : This show the symbol of elements you are strong with. Condition : This value will only be filled if you are affected by special condition (like poisoned, silenced, confused). There will be an explanation of the situation (in Japanese of course) and the number of turns. After the turn counter reached zero, this condition will disappear automatically, and you will return to normal condition. Equipped weapon : Self explanatory. Attack : Amount of damage this weapon causes. Affected by defenses. Derived from the following formula : Strength (from character stat) + Sharpness (from weapon stat) + Support bonus (cumulative) Other way to get the attack value, is to go to possession item screen (screen no 2, accessed by R button on the character). See the value of the row and column right under the "Equipment" word, that is the attack value. % Hit : Chance that the attack will hit. Affected by terrain and enemies. Derived from the following formula : Hit (weapon stat) + 2 * Skill + Luck /2 (rounded down) + Support Bonus (cumulative) % Avoid : Ability to doget enemy attacks. Affects enemy's hit %. Derived from the following formula : 2 * Speed + Luck - (Weight - Constitution) * 2 + Support Bonus (cum) If your weapon weight does not exceed your constitution, then the value used in the calculation is zero (not minus). Critical : Chance the weapon will strike a critical blow, doing triple damage. Derived from the following formula : Skill / 2 (rounded down) This statistic show how probable it is for you to do "critical". In critical attack, your attack damage will be tripled. So if your standard damage is 10, a "critical attack" will give 30 damage. Weapon Level : Each character, depending on their type, will have proficiency in a certain type of weapon (for fighter type) or book/staff (for magic type). If you do not have any proficiency in that type of weapon / magic (denoted by "-"), you will not be able to use it. If your proficiency level is lower than the weapon level requirement, then you are also not able to use the weapon. Example : All legendary weapon have level requirement of S, so if your level is lower than S, then you will not be able to use that legendary weapon. Level from lowest to highest : E - D - C - B - A - S. Please note that for basic class, your highest level of skill is A. Only upgraded class can have skill level of S. If you wanted to increase your skill in a certain weapon type, you need to use that weapon type during fight with your enemy. There is a progress bar in each weapon, so you will know when you are nearing weapon level increase (when the bar is full to the right). Support : You will have a maximum of 4 friend that can support you, and give you bonuses in attack, % Hit, % Evade and Critical (Deadly). Level of support will increase from C to B to A (highest). You also have maximum five Support Level, with C=1, B=2, A=3 Example : Roy's Support, using max support level : Lilina : A Marcus : C Thany : C To increase the support level, you place them side by side. Once they can do support (or increase their support level), "SUPPORT" will show up in the menu when they are standing side by side. You can also see names on the "Army List" menu, support chance screen (Not all support chance show up immediately on the support chance screen). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3.6 GENERAL TACTIC ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ - Weapon will break. Once the usage reached zero, then the weapon break, and you can longer use that weapon. It is important to plan ahead and never run out of weapons. - Try to conserve your good weapon for fight against difficult enemy (high level, high defense or high resistance). If possible, use iron weapon, which have a high hit % value. An exception to this rule is the pegasus unit, which have very low constitution. For them, choose Slim Lance and slim sword. In my opinion, steel weapon is pretty much useless in the game (they have increased weight and decreased accuracy compared to iron). - As much as possible, use a weapon that have a lower weight compared to your constitution. This will make your % avoid maximum, and you will have less chance of sustaining any damage. It will also maximize your speed, since you will not suffer a speed penalty (weight - constitution). Higher speed (less speed penalty) means you may be able to hit the enemy twice, and minimize situation in which your enemy attack you twice. - When you wanted to fight, please consider the weapon you use (especially for paladin class, which can use sword, spear and axe). Use the following chart of weapon and magic strong against and weak against : Sword : strong vs. Axe, weak vs. Spear Spear : strong vs. Sword, weak vs. Axe Axe : strong vs. Spear, weak vs. Sword Anima : strong vs Light, weak vs. Dark Dark : strong vs Anima, weak vs. Light Light : strong vs Dark, weak vs. Anima If you are strong, you will have 15% bonus to your damage and %Hit If you are weak, you will suffer 15% additional damage and % Hit. Note : Some weapon will give reverse effect of this strong and weak vs. Look up the weapon detail to see whether the weapon has reverse strong and weak. - Try to go to Gaiden chapters to get the legendary weapon. If you can collect all 7 collectable legendary weapon, you will get to chapter 23 and beyond. - Thief and Bandit can destroy village, so kill them as soon as possible. - Note than some weapon are critical against a certain class. Since critical give you twice or more damage (your strength is effectively doubled), use those special weapon only when you need to. - Keep flying unit (pegasus knight, dragon knight and their upgraded class) away from bow weapon, since bow weapon will inflict critical damage to flying unit. - Wait until you reach level 20 before changing class, so you will get higher stats from more level increase. - Instead of using only 8 characters, try to level most characters, so when you want to use the upgrade class item, you will have choices in selecting the character you will use the item on. It will make your life easier, in the later chapters. Once the characters were upgraded, choose around 8 characters, with a good mix of character class, for your last two chapters. - Use the Arena when you encounter it, but do not spent too much time using them, if you wanted to get good / perfect rank. - Torch will increase visibility when fog-of-war effect are active. Always give torch to thief, since they will be able to see all enemies in 13 squares radius when using torch. - To achieve fast battle (minimal # of turns), use your rear units to attack front line enemies first, and your front units can attack rear line enemies. - Conserve your money. Try to never have less than 1000G when you finish shopping. Reduce your cost (expense) by : - Purchase only iron weapons. - Use only iron weapons. Use better weapons (silver, steel, killer etc), only when you have to/ need to. Increase your revenue by : - visiting house or village that give money. - go to extra chapters - go to arena. IMPORTANT : - Minimize Marcus involvement in battle. Trust me, you'll regret giving Marcus experience that are better utilized among your other unit. - Never sell weapons you have. Sole exception is when you are nearing the 100 item limit in Merlinus caravan. - Plan ahead. See this FAQ for store list, and items they sell, and try to plan ahead. - See this FAQ, which will give suggestion on items you buy. This advice is more useful if you keep on using the same character as I did. ============================================================================== 4. CHAPTER WALKTROUGH ============================================================================== BASIC CAMPAIGN / STANDARD MODE Every time I mention an enemy, they will have the following : Class, Level, HP, Strength, Skill, Speed, Luck, Defense, Resistance. I will also write down their weapon. Sometimes some enemy have specific item/weapon. The boss will also have the following stats : Movement, Constitution, Help. Please note that every turn, the throne will heal 3 HP, or 10% of character's max HP, whichever is bigger. I use (X,Y) coordinate to refer to square in a MAP. X is horisontal, while Y is vertical. (1,1) denote lower-left most square (or South Western most square). Example : In chapter 1 MAP, Village is on (13,2). Castle gate is on (6,17). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 4.1 CHAPTER ONE : THE START OF DESTINY ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Prologue : There is Kingdom of Etruria in the west, Kingdom of Bern in the east, League of Lycia in the south, Ilia in the north. Sacae between Bern and Ilia. King of Bern (Berun in Japan) attack other countries. Roy will travel from Pherae to Ostia. NEW CHARACTERS : Roy (Lord), Red Hair, Blue Cloth : Turn 1 (Rapier, Vulnerary) Alen (Cavalier), Red Hair & Armor : Turn 1 (Iron Sword, Iron Lance) Lance (Cavalier), Green Hair & Armor : Turn 1 (Iron Sword, Javelin, Vulnerary) Bors (Knight), Green Hair, Yellow Armor : Turn 1 (Iron Lance, Vulnerary) Wolt (Archer), Green Hair, Blue Cloth : Turn 1 (Iron Bow, Vulnerary) Marcus (Paladin), White Hair, Purple Armor : Turn 1 (Iron Sword, Silver Lance) If you want to know details of any unit/character, please see Character List in "section 5.4 Character List" below. TREASURES, VILLAGES, SHOPS AND ARENA : Village (13,2) : 5000 G ENEMIES : Qt Class Lev HP St Sk Sp Lu De Re Weapon 2 Archer (1 18 4 3 3 0 3 0) Iron Bow 1 Brigand (1 20 5 1 5 0 3 0) Iron Axe 10 Fighter (1 20 5 2 4 0 2 0) Iron Axe Total starting enemies : 14 (including Damas) Enemy reinforcement : None Total all enemies : 14 Boss (original position 4,15, then move to 6,17) : Name Class Lev HP St Sk Sp Lu De Re Damas Fighter 5 28 9 5 6 0 4 0 Steel Axe. WINNING REQUIREMENT : SEIZE THRONE. You will have 6 characters at the end of this chapter. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ GENERAL GUIDE : - I suggest you to avoid using Marcus in fight, except when fighting the boss. Use Marcus mainly as a bait, to let enemy unit attack him. Exchange Lance's Javelin with Marcus's silver lance, so every enemy (including archer) that attack Marcus will be dealt some damage by him, but not killed by Marcus. - Avoid using Silver Lance, since you will only be able to buy Silver Lance starting from chapter 17. - Avoid using Rapier, since it is very useful (critical) against knight. You can have one of the social knight give Roy their Iron Sword. - Use the vulnerary when your character are injured. Each use of vulnerary will heal 10 HP. Try to avoid receiving too many damage, since you only have a limited amount of vulnerarys with you (4 vulnerarys total, with 12 usage = heal 120 HP). - Prevent the bandit from destroying the remaining village (one village is automatically destroyed on turn 1, you can not prevent it) - If you have difficulty in killing the boss, you can use : - Silver Lance. - You should be able to finish this chapter in 7 turns (0 turn leveling) - Totals so far (including this chapter) : 7 turns (0 turn leveling) If you have difficulty keeping all of your characters alive : - Try to use defensive square to avoid being killed by the enemy, like the 4 forest squares (each give +1 Def, +20% avoid) near your starting point and houses (give +10% avoid). - Move your characters to the defensive square that are reachable by enemy, so that in the enemy's turn, they will approach you. Let the enemy come to you, instead of you coming to them. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 4.2 CHAPTER TWO : THE PRINCESS OF BERN ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ NEW CHARACTERS : Merlinus (Caravan) : Turn 1 Elen (Priest) (Heal, vulnerary) : Turn 1 Lot (Fighter) (Iron Axe, Steel Axe, Hand Axe) : Turn 2 Wade (Fighter) (Iron Axe, Hammer, Vulnerary) : Turn 2 Dieck (Mercenary) (Iron Sword, Iron Blade) : Turn 2 Thany (Pegassus K.) (Slim Lance, Javelin, Vulnerary) : Turn 2 Using caravan, you can store your excess weapon and/or item. The priest, as in most RPG, can heal other unit, using many type of healing staff. TREASURES, VILLAGES, SHOPS AND ARENA : There is an armory (look like a small castle), above the village, and a vendor (house with red roof), below the village. If you can, memorize the building picure, so when you enter a new chapter, you can quickly see where the Armory and Vendor is located. Or you can also rely on this walkthrough, since I will mention every shop in each chapter. Village (4,15) : Armorslayer (deadly/ critical against Knight) Best use of this weapon is for boss, which is a Knight. Armory (7,18) : Iron Sword (New Item) Iron Lance (New Item) Javelin (New Item) Iron Bow (New Item) Vendor (8,10) : vulnerary (New Item) For details of the weapon and item, see their respective list in section 5.1 Weapon List and 5.2 Item List below. ENEMIES : Qt Class Lev HP St Sk Sp Lu De Re Weapon 2 Archer (1-3 18 4 3 3 0 3 0) Iron Bow 8 Fighter (1-3 21 5 2 5 1 2 0) Iron Axe, Steel Axe, Hand Axe. 1 Mercenary (3 19 5 9 9 0 4 0) Iron Blade 8 Soldier (1-3 22 4 0 2 1 0 0) Iron Lance, Javelin Total starting enemies : 20 (including Rude) Enemy reinforcement : None Total all enemies : 20 Boss (17,16): Name Class Lev HP St Sk Sp Lu De Re Rude Knight 5 24 10 2 2 0 10 0 Javelin. WINNING REQUIREMENT : SEIZE THRONE. You will have 12 characters at the end of this chapter. GENERAL GUIDE : - Keep Thany out of any archer attack range, since bow attack on a flying unit (Pegassus or Dragon) will be "Deadly" or "Critical", which mean it will inflict three times normal damage. This usually result in the death of the flying unit. - There are four "fort", which has a defense +2 and avoid +20%. This is the best defensive square, so use it well. You can also use this place to heal (3 HP each turn). Do not fight enemy that is on this square, since it will be much harder for you to hit them and they will also be healed every turn. If enemy are in fort square, fall back (move back) and let them fight you when you are in good defensive position (like forest) On turn 2, put Dieck on one fort, and put Lot in the other fort. - Item to buy : - 1 Iron Sword (Marcus) - 2 Iron Lance (Marcus, Lance) - 3 Javelin (Alen, Lance, Bors) - 1 Iron Bow (Wolt) - If you have difficulty in killing the boss, you can use : - Armorslayer (crit. vs Knight) - Hammer Axe (crit. vs Knight) - Silver Lance. - You should be able to finish this chapter in 8 turns (0 turn leveling) - Totals so far (including this chapter) : 15 turns (1 turn leveling) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 4.3 CHAPTER THREE : THE ONE WHO COME LATE ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ PROLOGUE : Attack Araphen NEW CHARACTERS : Chad (Thief) (Iron Sword, LockPick) : Turn 1 Lugh (Mage) (Fire, Vulnerary) : Village (4,19), by anyone. Village (20,3) : Mend On turn 4, you will see some conversation between Zephiel (King of Brene), Idenn (lady in cloak), Narshen and Slaters. After Zephyr and Idenn and Narshen depart, Slater will occupy the throne. ENEMIES : Qt Class Lev HP St Sk Sp Lu De Re Weapon 2 Archer (2 19 4 4 3 1 4 0) Iron Bow 3 Knight (2-3 18 5 2 0 1 9 0) Iron Lance, Javelin 13 Soldier (3-5 24 1 1 2 1 0 0) Iron Lance, Javelin Total starting enemies : 19 (including Slater) Enemy reinforcement : Turn 4 : 2 fighter from (18,18) and (22,18), 2 Cavalier from (24,14) and (24,13) show up. I sent Marcus, Chad, Thany, Lance. - Items you can steal : - Vulnerary (Knight) - If you have difficulty in killing the boss, you can use : - Armorslayer (crit. vs Knight) - Hammer Axe (crit. vs Knight) - Silver Lance. - You should be able to finish this chapter in 13 turns (1 turn leveling) - Totals so far (including this chapter) : 28 turns (1 turn leveling) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 4.4 CHAPTER FOUR : THE COLLAPSE OF THE ALLIANCE ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ NEW CHARACTERS : Clarine (Troubadour) (Heal Staff, Vulnerary) : Turn 4, automatic, by Roy. Rutger (myrmidon) (Killing Edge) : Turn 7, by Clarine. In the middle of the game, Clarine (troubadour) will escape from the enemy castle. Troubadour is like priest, but on horse. She will automatically approach Roy, and after conversation, she will become one of your unit. When you are close enough to the enemy castle, there will be some enemy reinforcement unit that will pour out from the castle. One of them, Rutger (myrmidon), will have a portrait. To recruit Rutger, use Clarine (your newly recruited troubadour) to talk with him. You will have 16 characters at the end of this chapter. GENERAL GUIDE : - Item to buy : - 3 Iron Sword (Lance, Rutger, Spare) - 2 Iron Lance (Thany, Spare) - 2 Slim Lance (Thany, Spare) - 1 Javelin (Alen) - 1 Hand Axe (Wade) - 2 Iron Bow (Wolt, Spare) - 2 Heal Staff (Elen, Clarine) - 2 Fire Book (Lugh, Spare) - Items you can steal : - 3 Vulnerary (Fighter, Archer) - clarine show up on (6,12), end-of-turn 3, move to (11,10). Try to position Roy as near as possible to (11,10), so Clarine can be recruited by Roy as soon as possible. - Beware of Rutger. The only character he will not attack (will ignore) is Clarine. Clarine will also be ignored by Rutger's gang (the other two fighters and one archer, which show up near him). - I suggest leaving the South village, armory and vendor to Merlinus. He won’t be attacked by enemy. - Have one unit you won’t use (like Marcus) to go to the North (12,13) and North East (28,15) village. - When Rutger joins you, give him an Iron Sword. It’s a waste to use his Killing Edge now. - Have someone deal with the Pirate reinforcement by hiding in the forests for protection. - If you have difficulty in killing the boss, you can use : - Halberd (crit. vs Cavalier) - Lugh (Eric has low Magic Resistance) - Silver Lance. - You should be able to finish this chapter in 10 turns (0 turns leveling). - Totals so far (including this chapter) : 38 turns (1 turns leveling). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 4.5 CHAPTER FIVE : THE EMBLEM OF FIRE ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ NEW CHARACTERS : None TREASURE, VILLAGES, SHOPS, ARENA : Village (11,20) : Gant Spear Vendor (8,20) : Fire Heal Vulnerary Door Key (New Item) ENEMIES : Qt Class Lev HP St Sk Sp Lu De Re Weapon 4 Bandit (6, 25, 7, 3, 6, 1, 4, 1) Hand Axe 8 Fighter (4-5, 23, 7, 3, 5, 0, 2, 0) Iron Axe, Hand Axe, Steel Axe 6 Mercenary (2-5, 20, 5, 9, 8, 1, 5, 0) Iron Sword, Steel Sword, Steel Broad Sword 1 Mage (5, 18, 4, 4, 4, 1, 3, 5) Fire 3 Nomad (3-4, 17, 6, 5, 6, 1, 4, 0) Iron Bow, Steel Bow Total starting enemies : 23 (including Dory) Enemy reinforcement : None Total all enemies : 23 Boss (3,8) : Name Class Lev HP St Sk Sp Lu De Re Dory Bandit 11 30 13 4 8 2 7 1 Killer Axe, Hand Axe WINNING REQUIREMENT : SEIZE CASTLE. You will have 16 characters at the end of this chapter. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ GENERAL STRATEGY : - Force Dory to equip the Hand Axe by having a unit stand two squares away from him. The chance of a critical attack by Dory (using Killer Axe) is too great. After he equipped Hand Axe, you can attack him. The unit you use as bait can be Chad (very high evade) or Marcus (very high HP and Defense). - Once you reached (8,6) or (8,5), a villager will open the gate for you. - Optional : You could buy a few Door Keys, which can will speed things up considerably in the next chapter. Suggested # of door Key : 3. With these optional Door Keys, you can reduce the # of turns in the next chapter by a minimum of three turns. - You should be able to finish this chapter in 7 turns (0 turn leveling). - Totals so far (including this chapter) : 45 turns (1 turn leveling). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 4.6 CHAPTER SIX : THE TRAP ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This is the first chapter you encountered "preparation menu". A short explanation, it’s a menu where you can select which units are participating, equip/store weapons and switch the participating units positions however you like. For detailed explanation, please see section 3.4 “Preparations Menu”. Fourth room (20,18) : have guards. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ On turn 5, Cath will appear as an enemy unit. She will not attack you, but she will open closed doors, and looting treasures in the process. The best way to minimize her stealing (neutralize her) is to steal the Lockpick from her (using Chad). Speak to her using Roy and she’ll escape through the north stairs. She’ll appear two more times in later chapters (chapter 8 and chapter 12). To recruit her you must talk to her all three times with Roy. Once you have moved all of your units to near the throne, (all unit have y coordinate of 10 or more), there will be 6 enemy reinforcement units arriving from the south part of the map. You will have 19 characters at the end of this chapter. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ GENERAL STRATEGY : - Items you can steal : - 4 Vulnerary (Mage on (13,15), (14,15), (11,22) and (15,22)) - 1 Vulnerary (Knight on (21,19)) - Recommended team member : Thief, Fighters (many lance enemies), Priest / Troubadour, Social Knights. - Divide two even teams at the preparation menu. One team goes to the Western part, the other the Eastern part. Have at least a healer participate in the East team. The other healer will be Saul. - Have someone equip a Iron Bow and the Door Key you’ve obtained in chapter 4 to unlock the chamber Sue is locked in. Then talk to her with Roy. And give the Iron Bow to Sue. Suggested person : Roy. - Have someone give a Heal staff to Saul. Suggested person : Clarine/Elen. - Have someone give an Iron Bow to Dorothy. - Don’t go to the middle section, instead let them come to you. - Let the thief open the treasures in the Eastern part first. And once Cath show up, force her to go East as well, trap her if needed and steal her Lockpick. Then talk to her with Roy. She’ll be harmless by then. Note: Don’t block the path to open the Southeast chamber or she’ll simply go another way. - You don’t have to open the doors with reinforcements in it, but I’d advise to do that for the extra experience. To speed things up, either use the Door Keys you bought in chapter 5 (optional) or fast moving unit (like pegassus Knight and / or Social Knight) to carry Chad and drop him as quickly as possible in the same turn. - You should be able to finish this chapter in xx turns (y turns leveling). - Totals so far (including this chapter) : turns ( turns leveling). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 4.7 CHAPTER SEVEN : THE REVOLUTION AT OSTIA ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ You can have up to 13 characters participate in this chapter. This chapter has two Armory and one vendor. Also has an arena, where you can fight and get money (if you win) or lost money and character (if you lose). Armory 1 (Western) : Slim Sword Iron Sword Steel Sword (New item) Iron Blade (New item) Iron Axe Steel Axe (New item) Hand Axe Armory 2 (Eastern) : Slim Lance Iron Lance Steel Spear (New item) Javelin Iron Bow Steel Bow (New item) Vendor : Fire Book Thunder Book (New item) Heal Staff Heal Staff 2 (New item) vulnerary Door Key Chest Key (New item) Item from House on the Eastern part of Map (Row, column format) : Row 1, Column 2 : Elixir Row 1, column 3 : Knight Killer Spear Row 2, Column 1 : Red Gem Row 3, Column 3 : Heroes Proof Item from House on the Western part of Map Northern House : Long Bow Item from Chest : On turn 2, there will two ally unit (green) that show up in the eastern houses. They are Zelots (Paladin) and Trec (Social Knight). You can recruit Trec using Roy or Zelots (could not recruit him using Noah). You can recruit Zelots using Roy, Trec or Noah. On turn 3, Noah (Social Knight) will show up south of the arena. You can recruit him using Roy straight away. You can recruit Noah using Roy or Zelots (could not recruit him using Trec). Fastest way to recruit all three new characters : Put Roy 4 square south of arena entrance by end of turn 2, he will be able to recruit Noah on turn 3, and Noah recruit Zelots, and Zelots recruit Trec. If you are lucky, you will have finish the recruitment by end of turn 3. When you are close to the main gate (north west part), there will be enemy reinforcement. Boss : Name Class Lev HP St Sk Sp Lu De Re Devias Knight 13 33 11 6 5 4 12 1 Surendo Spear You will have 22 characters at the end of this chapter. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 4.8 CHAPTER EIGHT : REUNION ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ You can have up to 12 characters participate in this chapter. In this chapter, you will get 5 (count them five) new unit. If only I can recruit Cath, the thief that keep on showing up (in chapter six), then I will have six new unit. It turn out that the thief will be able to be recruited, but not in this chapter. You still need to talk to this thief though, so that you can recruit her later (chapter 12). You will get Astore (thief) with you at the start of the chapter, and Lilina (Mage) in the jail, in the middle of the map. If you wanted to save Lilina, which I strongly suggest, you do the following : Turn 1 : Move her West 1 square Turn 2 : Move her East 1 square (back to her original position) On turn 5 ??, there will be three new units showing up on the north west part of the map. These units are : Wendy (Armor Knight), Bath (Armor Knight), Ogie (Mercenary). Since this room is closed, these unit will not be useful, right ? No, you are wrong. If you look carefully, there is a wall unit with crack on it. Using a weapon (any weapon will do), you can hit the wall and the wall will crumble (when it HP reach zero), opening a way for your unit to participate in the fight. If you look carefully, you will also notice that one of the wall in Lilina Jail room is also cracked, but since Ririna does not have any weapon, she can not break the wall and escape. But you will know that to set her free, you can break the cracked wall down using your other characters. On end of turn 11, there will be two thieves showing up as neutral enemy units (red), one of them is Cath, the thief you encounter on previous chapter (chapter 6), while the second thief is a basic thief unit (has no picture). On end-of-turn 13, the basic thief will open the door of Ririna jail. On end-of-turn 14, Cath will open the door to the eastern treasure room through eastern door. So you have to make sure that your unit will have entered the eastern room through western door by turn 13, and start blocking the eastern entrance. Use Roy to talk to the Cath, and you can recruit him in chapter 12. If you wanted to, you can steal the lockpick that these thieves have. Treasure in the chest : Western Area : Guidance Ring (upgrade Priest, Mage, Torubadour) Mystery Book (Skill +2) Silver Axe (A,1,12,15,55,0,20) Airborne Nomochi (upgrade Pegassus, Dragon) Eastern Area : Killer Bow (C,2,7,9,8,30,20) Knight Emblem (upgrade Social Knight, Armor Knight) Hellfire Book (C,1-2,4,8,75,0,20) Shining Sword (C,1-2,9,9,70,25) Boss : Name Class Lev HP St Sk Sp Lu De Re Leygance General 1 36 12 5 9 8 14 5 Steel Spear, Javelin You will have 27 characters at the end of this chapter. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 4.8X CHAPTER EIGHT GAIDEN : SWORD OF FLAME ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ You can have up to 10 characters participate in this chapter. In this area, take special notice of a certain square that has reddish glow on it. This square will generate flame (randomly) that can burn any unit that is standing on this square. At the end of the chapter, you will get Durandal Sword (S,1,12,17,90,0,20). This sword can not be sold Boss : Name Class Lev HP St Sk Sp Lu De Re Henning Hero 1 33 10 19 16 5 11 2 Steel Blade, Hand Axe ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 4.9 CHAPTER NINE : FOG ISLAND ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ You can have up to 13 characters participate in this chapter. This is the first map that apply "fog-of-war". This mean you can not see all enemy unit at once, but only 5 (five) squares of surrounding area will have enemy unit shown. Thief have a different range, which is 10 (ten) squares, or double the other unit range. In the village on the lower left part of map, you will get Silver Sword In the village on the upper right part of map, you will get : Killer Bow (Left house) Rest Staff (Right house) Please note that you can only go to one of the house in the upper right. Once you have gone to one of the house, the other house will become closed automatically. Also the house you went into will determine the path that you will take, since from here there are two branch : 10A and 11A, which can accessed through selecting the left house, and the 10B and 11B, which can be accessed through selecting the right house. What is the difference between the A route and the B route ? In A route, you will get dancer unit (female), while in B route, you will get bard unit (male) (not confirmed yet, since I have not played through the B route). You can recruit Fir (Swordsman) by talking to him with Noah (Social Knight) that you recruited at Chapter 7. The picture is red hair, blue armor. You can recruit Sin (Nomads) by talking to her with Sue (Nomads). You will get a new unit, Lalum (dancer). On turn 5, there will be new enemies (archers) coming from south east part of the map. You can recruit one of the enemy unit, Kureiso (sniper), by talking to him using Roy or Clarine. This character has a pearl, that can be sold for 10,000 G. Once you recruited him, the rest of his group become neutral and will escape the map through the north east part map (near throne). On turn 6, the enemy will sent two units of Bandit, who will start destroying houses by end of turn 7, so you need to get unit into area near the cave opening (there is two of them on the eastern part of the map). On turn 7, there will be new enemies (pegassus knight) coming from north west part of map. One of these units, Teito (pegassus knight), can be recruited by talking to him using Kureiso (recently recruited sniper). Once you recruited him, the rest of the pegassus units will then become neutral, and will escape the map through the north east part map, like the archers group. On turn 8, there will be enemy reinforcement showing up in the middle of the map, between village 5 and the village above it. There is one unit (hero), which you can recruit using the dancer. I think that the three unit is trying to capture the hero unit. Once you or neutral unit closed on the throne, there will enemy reinforcement of 7 social knight, appearing from north west map, like the pegassus units. Starting from turn 12, there will be one bandit pouring from the each cave, lasting four turn (8 enemy total). It has been confirmed by Andrew Tam (see thank you section) that if the ally (underling of the recruited unit) is killed, you will not get the item. Andrew has experienced death of underling caused by himself (before he recruited their leader). Please note that the ally can be killed, either by yourself or by the enemy, so please take good care of them if you wanted to get the item. One way to ensure the ally safety : Once you recruited their leader (which make their underlings green or ally), you can use your other units (which have a big rescue value) to rescue the unit, act as pony express by moving them to a safe area (as near to the target area of the ally as possible, and close to the edge of the map), and then release them there. You will have 33 characters at the end of this chapter. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 4.11B CHAPTER ELEVEN B ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ To be completed later ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 4.12 CHAPTER TWELVE ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ You can recruit Rei (Shaman) by talking to him with Chad (thief). In turn 9 ??, you will encounter Cath (thief) again. Talk with her using Roy. If you have talked to her on Chapter 6 and 8, she will join you. In turn 12 (or when you approach the throne), there will enemy reinforcement, coming from the east, 3 unit fighter, 1 unit warrior, 3 unit dragon In turn 18 (or when you killed the boss), there will enemy reinforcement, coming from the stairs in the throne room If you have utilize the arena in the previous chapter, this chapter will be much easier. I will explore this more, and write it down once I have played with this menu. To reach this stage, I recruited the shaman and thief, and finished the game on turn 14 in the chapter 12. There are many, many chest in this area, and there are three thief that are stealing the content, so you need to be careful here. You need to position some unit on the entrance (thief is much better, since they have 10 square seeing range, while other unit only have 5 square. Use the steal option to steal item that any thief has stolen (in turn 1, one of the Elixir is taken by one of the thief, and you could not prevent this), before you kill them (if you wanted the experience). Chest items : Elixir : 3 unit Lock pick : 1 unit Door Key : 1 unit antitoxin : 3 unit Torch : 1 unit Red Gem : 1 unit White Gem : 1 unit Please note there are some holes in the wall that will sprout toxic fumes. If your unit happen to be in the path of the fumes, they will get poisoned. If that happen (poisoned), you can use the antitoxin that you can get from the chest, or you can just wait it out if you have sufficient HP (5 turn, each turn gave 2-4 damage). You can also recruit Persubaru (paladin), by talking to him with Lalum. You must do this before turn 8, since Persubaru will retreat/ disappear on turn 9. On turn 9, there is enemy reinforcement showing up on the north west part of map. They are : 1 paladin, 5 social knight, 1 torubadour. When you start the chapter, this is the boss you will see Boss 1 (Neutral): Secilia Valkryie, Level 1, 30, 11, 7, 10, 10, 7, 13, 8, 6, 14 Air River Book, Heal Staff 2 On end of your phase, turn 1, Zefhyr, King of Bern will show up, fight with Secilia (valkyrie, neutral unit), the one who teach you (in the tutorial), and defeat her. Boss 2 : Zefhyr King ??, Level 20, 70, 24, 20, 14, 15, 22, 24, 5, 17, 16 Sword (-, 1-2, 15, 15, 90, 5) On end your phase, turn 2 , Zefhyr left, with no replacement. You also found out that the enemy has kidnapped Guinivere (your girlfriend??). Once you approach the throne, King Bern replacement is replaced by Real boss : Dragon Knight, Level 2, 44, 18, 11, 12, 9, 16, 6, 8, 11, 14 Surendo Spear After you get into the throne, if you saved all the ally of the newly recruited paladin, you will get knight emblem. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 4.14 CHAPTER FOURTEEN : ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ You will get two new unit at the start of the chapter (these two are the prisoners that you release in the previous chapter), one is Secilia (valkyrie) and the other is Sophia (shaman). This map consist of desert, which slow movement. My understanding of new movement rate is as follows : On horses (social knight, paladin etc) : Movement / 3, rounded down On foot, fighter type (fighter, myrmidon etc) : Movement / 2, rounded down On foot, spellcaster type (Mage, Priest etc) : Movement / 1 On flying steed (Pegassi, Dragon) : Movement / 1 On turn 8, there will be new enemy showing up from south west part. 2 with portrait, 8 without. If you wanted to go to chapter Fourteen gaiden, you have to occupy the throne on or before turn 25. By turn 26, the storm will clear (fog of war will not apply anymore). If this event happened, it means you will NOT go to chapter Fourteen Gaiden. Treasure : Silver Blade Boots ?? Staff ?? Feather ?? Silver card ?? Silence staff ?? Warp Staff ?? Magic defense up ?? Guidance Ring (can only be found by sophia, when you move her to near throne entrance). The treasure will show up randomly, but in a fix area. The most important item is the silver card, which give you 50% discount on your purchase on any store (including the secret store you will encounter on chapter 16 and chapter 21). The silver card is positioned near the skull on the north west part of the map. Try to get this silver card, since it will enable you to purchase more statistic enhancing item in chapter 21 secret store. It has been confirmed that using thief unit will give 100% probability (instead of random like other class) of getting item. Couple thief unit with flying unit, and you will get all buried item. Armory : Steel Sword Steel Blade Steel Spear Steel Axe Steel Bow Vendor : Hellfire Book Air River Book (New item) Lightning Book Miiru Book Risaia Book (New item) Heal Staff 2 Rest Staff Torch Pure Water (New item) Boss : Hero, Level 10, 40, 15, 20, 16, 8, 11, 5, 6, 12, 11 Shining Sword ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 4.14X CHAPTER FOURTEEN GAIDEN : ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ In this chapter, you will have a disappearing and appearing platform/square. When the square disappear, and if there is no ice square in the four direction, your non-flying unit will be stuck in the square. For this map, I strongly recommend you to bring all your flying unit : 2 Pegassi and 1 Dragon. If any of your unit become stuck, you just use your flying unit to rescue it, and put it in a safe place (area around throne or the four corner of the map). Do not afraid that your unit will drown if you do not rescue it directly. I have one of my unit standing on the water spot for more than one turn, and it did not drown. But I am not sure whether it can stand more than two turn. If any of you have information regarding this, it is welcomed. I will also check it out when I have finished the standard mode. Please be careful, there are many strong magic user in this map, and there is magic book that can attack in the 10+Magic area (the one that the boss and his subordinate have). If you have any unit that is weak in magic defense, it is recommended that you leave him on the starting point (north west of map), and wait until the magic book is used up (each have 5 use, and even if it missed you, it still considered as used). Boss : Upgraded Mage, Level 10, 35, 17, 16, 15, 7, 10, 14, 6, 7, 6 Hellfire Book, Magic Book ?? (A, 3-10) Winnning this chapter will gain you a "legendary" weapon : Fooru Blaze (Magic Book) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 4.15 CHAPTER FIFTEEN : ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ You will get one new Sniper unit at the beginning of this chapter. On turn 4, there will one new enemy unit showing up. This unit you can recruit using Ririna After turn 12, there will be enemy reinforcement. They show up from the two fort on the north part of map, and also from the throne. This reinforcement continuously show up for 4 turn. Vendor : Thunder Book Lightning Book Miiru Book Heal Staff 2 vulnerary Door Key Chest Key Torch Village 1 (South West) : Magic Book, Light (C) Village 2 (East) : Staff ?? (C, 1, 3) At the end of this chapter, you will get Fa. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 4.16 CHAPTER SIXTEEN : ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ It is suggested that you bring one of the thief along, since in this chapter, there are many item that you can steal from the enemy. Secret Shop (need "golden card" that the recruitable magic user have). On the North West part of map, on turn 2, Zais (dragon knight) will show up and sit on a certain square, and a breakable wall near him. You have to break the wall, kill or recruit Zais (using your dragon knight, Miredei). On this square (the one Zais were on, which is not different than any other square), you will get a new menu, "secret shop". This Secret Shop sell : Hero Crest Knight Crest Elysian Whip Guiding Ring Orion's Bolt Angelic Robe (HP+7) Lockpick The chest on the western side contain : Hero Crest Bow (A,2,6,13,70,0) Staff (B, 1-Magic,3) Knight Crest Staff (B, 1-Magic,3) Teleport The chest on the eastern side contain : 5000 G Book (A,3-10,10,12,70,0,5) Magic Shield Staff Rest Staff Boss : Narshen Dragon Master, Level 10, 46, 16, 13, 16, 13, 20, 12, 8, 11, 14 Sword (A,1-2,11,12,60,0,15), Item ??, Blue Gem. If you did not kill the general unit with portrait, you can recruit him in chapter Sixteen Gaiden. There are many way to avoid killing this general, but the one I used is as follows : I make all my unit go around (either clockwise or counter-clockwise, depending on where the general is pursuing me from). I pick up / rescue all my unit that are slow (5 movement or less), and I try not to run too far ahead of the general since then he will turn around and pursue me from the other direction (I think the AI will calculate the closest enemy, and the General will run toward that enemy). The advantage of this method is : You get to purchase the item in the shop without any hindrance (and get to promote your unit that you bring along in this chapter using the newly purchased promotion item) and can kill the boss slowly (leveling up). The disadvantage is you need to keep on running, and you will spent many turn here, which may affect your final ranking. The other way is to station two of you character that have the highest defense and stationed them in front of the door to the throne. Strip those characters of any weapon, so when the general attack them, they will not attack back. After that, station the healer near them, and whenever the general hit any character, you heall that character again. But you will need character that have high defense (more than 15 at least, otherwise you may get a "deadly" hit and died from the hit. High speed will also help, so you will get hit more than once a turn. You also need spare healing staff, which you should purchase from the previous chapter. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 4.16X CHAPTER SIXTEEN GAIDEN : ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This chapter has a "shooting star" that can damage all unit in their path. The shooting start will rain from north to south, in a one column width. If you noticed the pillars in this map, some of them have blue vein. The column this blue pillar were, together with one column on its left and one column in its right will be the ones that have possibility of shooting star traveling down the column. The boss in this level has a staff (3 charge) that can cause confusion, with 100 accuracy. Your unit that is confused (5 round) will be attacking your other unit, and I have not been able to cure them of the confusion. One way to minimize the effect of confusion is remove the item that can be used to attack (swap it with other character if necessary). Since I upgraded all my mage and priest using the newly purchased Guidance ring (see previous chapter for detailed information), I left the only the healing staff on my magic wielding unit, and let them be confused. Thank God that this staff has only 3 charge. Boss : Bishop, Level 12, 41, 20, 12, 12, 15, 13, 8, 6, 8, 7 Light Book (C), Staff (3), cause confuse At the end of this chapter, you will get "legendary" weapon : Light Book ?? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 4.17 CHAPTER SEVENTEEN : ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ It was rumoured (I have not confirmed yet) that chapter 17 have two branch, A branch and B branch. Depending on whether your pegassus character or your nomads character have higher levels, you will branch to different one. In my game, my nomads unit have higher levels than the pegassus. When I play the game again, I will try to have a higher levels of pegassus, and see whether the branches are true or just rumour. This chapter is "night mission", with fog of war. On end of turn 5, the house on the east north will be destroyed by thief. So you need to make one of your unit to arrive at the house on turn 5 or before. On the end of turn 6, enemy reinforcement will arrive from north west. The way to exploit this bugs/feature is to have the thief come very close to the mamkute (every mamkute have Fire Dragon Stone) near the throne. Let the Druid that have confuse staff confuse your thief, and the next turn your confused thief will steal the fire dragon stone from the nearby mamkute. Wait until the confusion dissappear, and then attack all other units. If necessary, heal your thief unit remotely. The best place to put your thief is in the forest square, since your thief will then enjoy 10 additional avoid that will help in avoiding damage from the boss I believe this is more like a bug, since when Fa use the fire dragon stone, the battle animation is screwed up big time. But this bug is a good way to make Fa abilities to be unlimited. Please be careful of the three ballista squares. I suggest that you do not use this unit unless it can not be avoided (like in chapter 7). The reason is that Paladin unit, which is an upgraded class from Social Knight, will only gain very minimum experience, since it is considered very high in level (level 1 Paladin can be the same as level 21 of Social Knight). Use it when you need a door stopper. Better door stopper is the Armor Knight class. Since D and E are more than 3 square away from A, they will not give support to A. Theory (unconfirmed) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Every time two characters standy side by side by end of turn, the relationship level between those two characters increase. Once the relationship level reach a certain value, the Support option between those two characters are enabled, and it will show up in the "Support Chance" Menu. There are 3 levels of support (from lowest to highest) : C, B, and A. C requires relationship level of 60, use One Support Point. B requires relationship level of 120, use Two Support Point. A requires relationship level of 200, use Three Support Point. When they talk, the initial support value is increased. Some characters are much easier to have support between them (like Roy and Lilina), while others are much harder. ANSWER TO THE MOST-ASKED QUESTION ============================================================================== Q : How can I approach the throne in chapter 22 ? A : You can see the walkthrough of chapter 22, or follow the below passage which were taken from the walkthrough. To open the big door, you have to do the following : 1. Defeat enemy units that was on the red colored tile, and move any of your unit to the squares. The squares is in the north west and north east part of the map. 2. Have Roy move into the front of the door. Q : How can I repair my weapon ? Q : My weapon break, and I have no weapon to use. What to do ? A : There is no easy way to repair your weapon. You will get a repair staff in later chapter, but that is only for a limited usage. Each weapon have a limited usage, so if your weapon break down/used up, just purchase a new one in the Armory. Not every chapter have Armory, and every chapter's Armory sell different weapon (not every item type is available) so just see my chapter by chapter walktrough to see which chapter have Armory, and what weapon they are selling or see section 5.6 Shop List for a complete list of the shops, sorted by chapter (5.6.1) or sorted by weapon (5.6.2). Q : My characters level are low, and I got killed by the enemy. Help ! A : There are several way to increase your experience (and level, since every 100 experience give you one level increase, unless you are level 20) : 1. Fight with the enemy. - No hit or hit with zero damage give 1 EXP - Hit that damage enemy give around 10 EXP - Hit that damage and kill the enemy give around 30 EXP. General Guide : If your level is lower compared to the enemy, you get more EXP. If your level is higher, you get less EXP. 2. Priest and other unit that can use healing staff, will get EXP every time they use the healing staff. Heal : 11 EXP for standard class, 5 EXP for upgraded class. Mend : 12 EXP for standard class Physic : 22 EXP for standard class 3. For Dancer and Bard, every time they dance or sing, they will get 10 EXP. Q : What is the deal with the East, West, North and South ? I could not understand it A : Translation table : North = Up, South = Down, East = Right, West = Left. Q : How can I upgrade Roy Class ? A : Roy is upgraded automatically when you get to chapter 22. There is no item needed. Q : In Arena, why does it always choose a certain weapon ? Example : I have Sue, which after I have upgraded her from Nomad, she can use sword and bow. I'd like to level up her sword lvl, but in arena, she always get bow, never sword. A : In arena, your character will always use the weapon that he/she is most proficient with. So if you are planning to use the arena to increase your lower weapon skill, it is not possible. In the case of Sue, since she have a higher skill in Bow compared to Sword, in Arena, she will use bow, not sword. Note that the Sword skill is only activated once Sue upgraded from the Nomad Class. Exception : torubadour and priest, when they upgrade their class, they were able to use magic offensively (previously they only have healing skill/staff skill), even though the offensive magic skill is very low (E). If you put them in arena, they will be using their new and only offensive magic (light and magic), not their healing skill. Q : I wanted to quit fighting the arena, since I seem to be losing. or Q : My character keep on dying when entering the arena. How I can prevent it from happening ? A : All you have to do is press the B button to quit the arena. You will lose the bet if you cancel, but your character will live. Pressing B will only stop the fight in the next round, so you need to keep your eyes on your character health. Should you think that s/he may loose in the next round of fight, press B. Q : When and how do you get the Member Card and when can you buy the stat boosting item ? A : You can get the Member Card (gold card) by recruiting the magic user in Chapter 16. The secret shop, where you can buy the stat boosting item, can be accessed on chapter 16 and chapter 21, if you bring the character that have the gold card in the inventory to the secret shop location. Secret shop location can be found at the respective chapter walkthrough. Q : Is this game title fuuin no ken or fuuin no tsurugi ? A : Depending on which pronounciation you wanted to use, the title can be read as fuuin no ken or fuuin no tsurugi. Using KUN reading, it is tsurugi. Using compound reading, it is ken, like token, juken, shuriken. Based on katakana reading, the title is fuuin no tsurugi. Q : Where are those 8 legendary weapons ? I could not find all of them. A : There was a mistake in the earlier version of my FAQ, in which I mentioned that you can get 8 legendary weapons. Actualy there are only 7 legendary weapons that you can get / collect, and all these weapons have "legendary weapons" text in their description. Those 7 weapons can be found at : Sword Ch. 8X Spear Ch. 21 (Found at Yodel's, the new bishop, inventory) Axe Ch. 12X Bow Ch. 20X Magic Ch. 14X Dark Ch. 21X Light Ch. 16X The fake legendary weapon is this : Staff, Ch. 21 (Found at the new bishop inventory) It was rumoured that the Sword that Zefhyr, King of Bern use (he is the boss of chapter 22) are the eight legendary weapon, but it is mentioned only during conversation, without actual text of "legendary weapon" in the weapon description. Q : How many gaiden chapters in this game, and what are the requirement to reach those gaiden chapters. A : List of gaiden chapters, and the requirement to reach them : - 12G : Complete chapter 12 before turn 15, (recruited Cath and Rei). Q : I do not understand your FAQ. They mentioned : Village (4,13). Where is (4,13) ? A : I use (X,Y) coordinate to refer to square in a MAP. X is horisontal, while Y is vertical. (1,1) denote lower-left most square (or South Western most square). Example : In chapter 1 MAP, Village is on (13,2). Castle gate is on (6,17). Q : Where do I get upgrade class items ? A : The list of upgrade class items you will get is as follows : - Elysian Whip - Guiding Ring - Hero Crest - Knight Crest - Orion's Bolt Q : Where do I get attribute enhancing items ? A : The list of attribute enhancing items you will get is as follows : - Angelic Robe (HP +7) - Chapter 4, Village (9,2) - Energy Ring (St +2) - Secret Book (Sk +2) - Speedwings (Sp +2) - Goddess icon (Lu +2) - Dragonshield (De +2) - Boots ?? (Mo +2) - Body Ring (Co +2) ============================================================================== 7. INFORMATION ============================================================================== This section is used for information that : - I have not experienced yet - I have not confirmed Once I have confirmed the information in this section, it will be then removed from this section, and will appear in their relevant section. Most of the information in this section is gathered from gamefaqs.com FE6 board. Alternate Routes: Chapters 10 and 11: A route: Send someone to the left house (in the upper right) in chapter 9. This route lets you get Lalum and Ekidona. B route: Send someone to the right house (in the upper right) in chapter 9. This route lets you get Elfin and Batol. Chapters 17-20G: A route: Sue and Shin's combined levels are higher than Thany and Tiet's B route: Thany and Tiet's combined levels are higher than Sue and Shin's. (Basically the game determines the route based on which set of characters you used more. This is a storyline thing. In Thany & Tiet's route, you go out to their homeland of Iria to rescue Yuuno, the 3rd sister. In Sue & Shin's route, you head out to rescue Dayan, their dad. You can get Geiru (chapter 21A) in the trial maps on the 2nd time you beat the game. if you beat the game on hard mode, you get a new trial map. It's possible to get Percival in Chapter 15, if you do not recruit him in Chapter 13. ============================================================================== 8. SPECIAL THANKS ============================================================================== Thanks to Chris MacDonald, aka Kao Megure, whose template for FFVII I use for my FAQ. Even though he has died recently (May 2004), I will always remember him. Also thanks to my friend, Antonny Liem, for helping me translate the game into English language. He is the one that can speak and read japanese, while I am only familiar with the Kanji (Chinese) language. Thanks to Andrew Tam who have confirmed my suspicion about "underling death resulting in not getting promotion item" in chapter 11A, and other help he provided me. Thanks to Bluerondo at gamefaqs for reminding me about the animation setting. Thanks to CWW, who helped me with data from chapter 4 to Chapter 8. I want to present this FAQ to my dear departed mother, who have died in 2004. May her soul rest in peace, together with my little brother. ============================================================================== 9. WEBSITE HOSTING OF THIS FAQ ============================================================================== 1. GAMEFAQS (www.GameFAQs.com) 2. FFTOnline (www.fftonline.8k.com) If you found any other website who posted my FAQ, but I have not listed them here, please let me know by e-mailing me at apujanata at yahoo.com. The only site that I update directly is the GameFAQS, so it is possible that other site does not have my latest FAQ, since they have to download the latest FAQ from GameFAQS themselves. ============================================================================== 10.
