I didn't add much new stuff, I just revised a whole bunch of stuff. Sadly, there's no more done on the walkthrough. What I did do was revised a lot of my ratings and opinions in my Character FAQ to fit my current understanding of the game (after doing more research and such). I also correct a couple technical mistakes and typos, added two questions in the FAQ, and updated the acknowledgements. Version 1.47 - Been WAY too long since my last update. Unfortunately, this isn't a big update. Couple of things. First of all, I added some more sites for people that are allowed to use this FAQ. Secondly, there are several things that I've corrected via people contacting me over e-mails. That's it. One of these days, I'll get around to finishing the walkthrough portion. :) I also added a Frequently Asked Question section, as well as an e-mail section to save myself some hastle when handling e=mails. Version 1.46 - Small update here. Got some e-mails recently. I was informed that my assassin information was slightly incorrect, so now that information should be correct. Someone also e-mailed me with the missing information from the trainees. Thanks a bunch! Version 1.45 - Wow. Almost 9,000 clicks and I'm not even close to being finished with this. You guys must really like what you're reading or something. Okay, it's been WAY too long since I've updated this. You'd think I could get more done in the 6 weeks it's been since I've done anything on this. Unfortunately, I have little to no time to do FAQ work on this now, but I'm going to try to pick up the pace on this so I can at least finish. Anyway, I added Ephraim's chapter 10. Hopefully I'll be able to get more done this week. Version 1.40 - Added Chapter 8. Started on Ephraim's side of the story. Finished chapter 9. Version 1.36 - Corrected a couple typos. Added GameFAQs in the ackowledgements. Nothing major. Hopefully I can get more walkthrough work done today. Version 1.35 - Added chapters 4 - 7 on the walkthrough. Working as fast as I can on getting most of the walkthrough finished. Version 1.2 - Decided to add a walkthrough in here. Edited some of the wordings throughout the FAQ to make it correct for the new version of this. Finished with Prologue and chapters 1-3 of walkthrough. Version 1.1 - The second version of the guide. Corrected a couple typos, caught a couple missing things. Added some stuff I forgot the first time. Made the guide nicer on the eyes. Now ready for submission. Version 1.00 - The first version of the guide. All normal characters and sections completed. Later on, I might add secret characters. Other sections may pop up once I gather enough information to write them up. ^_^ ================== III. Introduction ================== A. Introduction ================ Hey all! You're reading a FAQ/Walkthrough to the game Fire Emblem - The Sacred Stones (which from now on will be referred to as FETSS or FE8). I'm known as Sui, and I'll tell you all I know about this game. Though this isn't my first guide (but it is here at GameFAQs), I'm still fairly new to the whole "guide" process, so bear with me. ^_^ I hope you all find my guide informative and worth reading. Enjoy! B. Purpose of this guide ========================= The purpose of this guide is to help you decide which characters of FE8 to use on your team, which promotion path you should choose for those characters, their strengths and weaknesses, and to provide factual information about those characters, such as average stats, etc. After I give you the information, I'll explain the reasons why I think what I do. The format will be like this: When you get the character: Starting level: Affinity: Weapon: Weapons gained by promotion: Promotion paths: Item required to promote: Skill(s): Skill(s) gained by promotion: Stats - ============================================================================== |-------------------------|-------------------------------------------------| | Stat | Growth | Start | Promo. | Final | Max | | | % | Stats | Bonus | Avg | Stats | | ____________|___________|__________|______________|____________|__________| | HP | | Str | | Skl | | Spd | | Lck | | Def | | Res | | Mov | | Con | | Tot | ============================================================================== General Comments - Technically Best As - Prefered Promotion - Overall Rating - Other Comments - Note: If a stat has a * by it, that means it's maxed. Note 2: If a character has 2 recruiting times by it, the level gained and starting stats of that character will be how they are for Ephraim's side of the story. After I tell you all about the characters, I'll explain in detail, how to beat each and every chapter. This won't be a turn by turn walkthrough or anything, but just what you should do in order to beat the chapter. The format will be like this: Difficulty: Events and Objectives: Preparations: General Tactics: Boss Stats: Boss Tactics: Enemies: Reinforcements: C. Important Information ========================= Before I get started, there's a couple things you'll need to know before reading this guide. Firstly, though this guide does contain facts, the comments I give reflect my own personal opinion. You should use who you like, even if that character isn't technically the best. I'm just telling you who are my prefered characters and why it is, in hopes that that will help you make an informed decision about who you choose. For my tactics on how to beat a certain chapter, those are also my opinion. If you think another way works better, then use it. This guide is just to help you decide which is the best and most efficiant way to beat a given chapter. Secondly, many abbrivations will be used (though most of them are in the game itself). Here they are: FE8 or FETSS - Fire Emblem 8 or Fire Emblem - the Sacred Stones FE6 - Fire Emblem 6 (Fire Emblem: Sealed Sword) FE7: Fire Emblem (first one released in English) FoW - Fog of war OHKO - One hit knock out HP - Hit Points Str/Mag - Strength/Magic Skl - Skill Spd - Speed Lck - Luck Def - Defense Res - Resistance Mov - Movement Con - Constitution Tot - Total Hit Points are your life. The more you have, the more damage you can recieve. If your HP reach zero, the unit will vanish from the map, and you'll be unable to use them for the remainder of your journey (you never get them back). Strength (for physical units) or Magic (for magic users) determines how much damage you can do to your opponant. Your strength plus the might of your weapon minus your opponant's defense is how much damage you can do. Please note that in the guide, when I say "strength", the unit may very well be a magic user, but since strength and magic do the same thing, I will just refer to it as strength. Skill determines how often you hit an enemy. This can be lowered by carrying a traveler (via the rescue command), or by using a weapon that has more weight than your con. Speed determines how much you can dodge and whether or not you can double attack the enemy (or if the enemy can double attack you). If your speed plus your con minus your weapon weight exceeds the opponant's speed by at least four, then you can double attack. Luck determines a lot of things. It determines how much you can hit or dodge. It determines how much you can critical. And it even can lower how much your enemy can critical. Defense determines how much damage you take from an enemy attacking you by physical means (sword, lance, etc.). Their attack minus your defense is the amount of damage you'll recieve. Please note that if your weapon has a disadvantage in the weapon triangle, your damage may be more, while if you have an advantage in it, your damage may be decreased. Resistance determines how much damage you take from an enemy attacking you with magic. Its properties are exactly the same as defense, only it deals with magic instead of weapons. Movement determines how many squares you can move in one turn. Obviously, the higher movement your character has, the better it is for you. However, things on the field, such as forests or desert, can decrease your movement for some characters. Constitution determines how well you can wield your weapon. If the weight of the weapon exceeds your con, you won't be able to weild it very well and your hit % will be reduced. Con also determines rescues. If you have an aid lower than your ally's con, you can rescue them to get them out of danger. Likewise, if your con is lower than someone else's aid, you can be rescued. Aid Determines who you can rescue. Mounted units have more aid due to their horse/pegasus/etc. See con for more details on rescues. Total stats will also be given to best determine which unit is best of its class or its ranking compared to other units in the game. D. Explanation of Skills ========================= +20% Critical - Adds 20 to your chance of getting a critical hit Big Shield - Negates all damage done to you that turn, physical or magical Dance - Allows a unit to move again Farther sight in FoW - Same effect as a torch Lockpick - Able to use lockpicks to pick chests and doors Pick - Able to pick chests and doors without the use of a lockpick Pierce - Negates enemy's defense when activated Seawalk - Able to move around on the water Seize - necessary to win some maps (siezes gate, thrown, etc.) Silencer - If you have a critical, theres a 1/3 chance it will be a OHKO Slayer - Unit does twice the damage to monster units Steal - Allows unit to steal a non-weapon item from the enemy Summon - Summons a phantom to the map Surestrike - 100% chance of an attack hitting when activated Now that you know the basics, I'll start with the main guide! E. E-mail Policy ================= Well, there's one more thing before I get onto the main guide. ;) If you see anything that's wrong or missing in my guide, feel encouraged to e-mail me about it and let me know, just please do it in a polite and respectful about it. Now, on with the main guide! =============== IV. Characters =============== A. Lords ========= 1. Eirika When you get the character: Start of Prologue Starting level: Level 1 Lord Affinity: Light Weapon: Swords, Rapier, Seiglinde, Shamshir Weapons gained by promotion: None Promotion paths: Great Lord Item required to promote: Lunar Brace Skill(s): Seize Skill(s) gained by promotion: None Stats - Great Lord ============================================================================ |--------------------------|-----------------------------------------------| | Stat | Growth | Start | Promo. | Final | Max | | | % | Stats | Bonus | Avg | Stats | | __________|____________|__________|______________|____________|__________| | HP | 70% | 16 | +4 | 47 | 60 | | Str | 40% | 4 | +2 | 22 | 24 | | Skl | 60% | 8 | +2 | 29* | 29 | | Spd | 60% | 9 | +1 | 28 | 30 | | Lck | 60% | 5 | - | 26 | 30 | | Def | 30% | 3 | +3 | 17 | 22 | | Res | 30% | 1 | +5 | 18 | 25 | | Mov | - | 5 | +2 | 7 | 7 | | Con | - | 5 | +2 | 7 | 7 | | Tot | - | 56 | +21 | 201 | 234 | ============================================================================= General Comments - Eirika is a very good character in her own right. She'll likely max strength, skill, and speed, and will have really nice luck as well. Both her defense and resistance are okay. They won't be good enough to frontline it constantly, but good enough to get her by. Her HP is a little on the low side, but again, nothing terrible there. She gets a horse after promotion, which is a big plus for the extra movement. Technically Best As - Well obviously she's best promoted to a Great Lord, since that's her only promotion choice... Prefered Promotion - Again, Great Lord, since that's her only choice... Overall Rating - 9/10 No major weaknesses and a lot of strengths make her an excellent character for anyone to use. Other Comments - She gets her own unique weapons to use: the Rapier and Seiglinde, the twin thunder blade. Try not to overuse those weapons, as they have limited uses. If you take Eirika's route, you get another rapier, but still try not to overuse them... 2. Ephraim When you get the character: Chapter 5x, regain him in chapter 8 Starting level: Level 4 Lord Affinity: Fire Weapon: Lances, Reginleif, Seigmund Weapons gained by promotion: None Promotion paths: Great Lord Item required to promote: Solar Brace Skill(s): Seize Skill(s) gained by promotion: None Stats - Great Lord =============================================================================== |--------------------------|-------------------------------------------------| | Stat | Growth | Start | Promo. | Final | Max | | | % | Stats | Bonus | Avg | Stats | | ____________|____________|__________|______________|____________|__________| | HP | 80% | 23 | +4 | 55 | 60 | | Str | 55% | 8 | +2 | 27* | 27 | | Skl | 55% | 9 | +3 | 26* | 26 | | Spd | 45% | 11 | +2 | 24* | 24 | | Lck | 50% | 8 | - | 27 | 30 | | Def | 35% | 7 | +2 | 23* | 23 | | Res | 25% | 2 | +5 | 16 | 23 | | Mov | - | 5 | +2 | 7 | 7 | | Con | - | 8 | +2 | 10 | 10 | | Tot | - | 81 | +22 | 215 | 230 | =============================================================================== General Comments - Best. Character. Ever. I'll tell you why he owns everything he touches. His stats are amazing! He'll max out strength, skill, speed, and defense without a problem. He almost maxes out his HP and luck. The only stat left to worry about is resistance, and even that's decent! Look at the difference between the average and max totals. There's only 15 points of potential that he's not touching! If you ask me, Ephraim is, by far, the most useful character in the entire game. Amazing. Technically Best As - Great Lord. Only promotion choice, but it's a good one. Prefered Promotion - Great Lord. Only choice. Overall Rating - 10/10 Ephraim's amazing. What more is there to say? Other Comments - With all those stats, you can throw Ephraim into nearly anything and expect him to survive. Seriously. Other than his sheer awesomeness, Ephraim, like Eirika, also gets two weapons unique to him: Reginleif and Seigmund, the twin flame lance. Again, like with Eirika, be careful how much you use them, as they have limited uses. And unlike with Eirika, you can't get another Reginleif if you go on Ephraim's route, so use it wisely! B. Ah, Amelia. Don't ever underestimate what she can do. She may start out weak, but train her up, and she's one of the best. Simply stated, Amelia's awesome. She'll max out at least one of her stats, usually luck, and usually maxes out speed as well. In fact, all her stats come close to maxing out. If it doesn't max, it'll still be very good. Her only "problem area" is resistance. She doesn't ever get much resistance. But then again, she only has a 15% growth rate on it too. Overall, Amelia is awesome. You should always use her. Always. Technically Best As - Cavalier > Great Knight / Knight > General Both are tied at 201. Prefered Promotion - Knight > General. This is really a tough call. Amelia's awesome as anything you make her. I wouldn't make her a Paladin though, since her stats come out quite a bit lower (and the strenth cap is low), but otherwise, anything will do. I say I'd make her a General, not only because of the good stats, but because she gets big shield. It helps her non-general- like defense. If I didn't make her a general, I'd make her a super recruit, though. The +20% on he critical rate is really nice. Not that she needs it. She criticals like mad as it is. :) Overall Rating - 10/10 Yes. She's just that awesome. Other Comments - Amelia is one of three units in the game that gets a second promotion, thus offering TONS of potential. She starts out as a recruit, which is like a pre-promotion of a non-promoted unit, so she gets ten extra levels of stats. 4. Duessel When you get the character: Chapter 15 Ek, Chapter 10 Ep Starting level: Level 8 Great Knight Affinity: Anima Weapon: Swords, Axes, Lances Weapons gained by promotion: Already Promoted Promotion paths: Already Promoted Item required to promote:Already Promoted Skill(s): None Skill(s) gained by promotion: Already Promoted Stats - Great Knight =============================================================================== |--------------------------|-------------------------------------------------| | Stat | Growth | Start | Promo. | Final | Max | | | % | Stats | Bonus | Avg | Stats | | ____________|____________|__________|______________|____________|__________| | HP | 85% | 41 | | 51 | 60 | | Str | 55% | 17 | | 23 | 28 | | Skl | 40% | 12 | | 16 | 24 | | Spd | 30% | 12 | | 17 | 24 | | Lck | 45% | 8 | | 13 | 30 | | Def | 30% | 17 | | 23 | 29 | | Res | 20% | 9 | | 12 | 25 | | Mov | - | 6 | | 6 | 6 | | Con | - | 15 | | 15 | 15 | | Tot | - | 137 | | 173 | 241 | =============================================================================== General Comments - Meh. Duessel's not that great, considering he's one of the Imperial Three. His HP is pretty good, as are his Strength and Defense, though he won't even come close to maxing any of them. He's got pretty lousy skill, speed, luck, and resistance though. Altogether his stats are rather mediocre, but he can be quite useful to use as a wall when you first recruit him. Other than that, you should bench him and use one of your other potential Great Knights. Technically Best As - Already Promoted Prefered Promotion - Already Promoted Overall Rating - 5.5/10 Like I said, he's not that great. Use one of your other Great Knights instead. Other Comments - Duessel is one of the Imperial Three, known as Obsidion. He taught Ephraim the lance, and has been opposed to the invasion of Renais from the start. He joins you because Emperor Vigarde order General Selena Fluospar of the Imperial Three to execute him. You rescue him while he's being persued. 5. Forde When you get the character: Chapter 5x, Regain him in Chapter 8 Starting level: Level 6 Cavalier Affinity: Wind Weapon: Lances, Swords Weapons gained by promotion: Great Knight: Axes Promotion paths: Paladin, Great Knight Item required to promote: Knight's Crest Skill(s): None Skill(s) gained by promotion: None Stats - Paladin =============================================================================== |--------------------------|-------------------------------------------------| | Stat | Growth | Start | Promo. | Final | Max | | | % | Stats | Bonus | Avg | Stats | | ____________|____________|__________|______________|____________|__________| | HP | 85% | 24 | +2 | 52 | 60 | | Str | 40% | 7 | +1 | 22 | 25 | | Skl | 50% | 8 | +1 | 25 | 26 | | Spd | 45% | 8 | +1 | 22 | 24 | | Lck | 35% | 7 | - | 16 | 30 | | Def | 20% | 8 | +2 | 16 | 25 | | Res | 25% | 2 | +1 | 12 | 25 | | Mov | - | 7 | +1 | 8 | 8 | | Con | - | 9 | +2 | 11 | 11 | | Tot | - | 80 | +11 | 184 | 234 | =============================================================================== Stats - Great Knight =============================================================================== |--------------------------|-------------------------------------------------| | Stat | Growth | Start | Promo. | Final | Max | | | % | Stats | Bonus | Avg | Stats | | ____________|____________|__________|______________|____________|__________| | HP | 85% | 24 | +3 | 56 | 60 | | Str | 40% | 7 | +2 | 22 | 28 | | Skl | 50% | 8 | +1 | 24* | 24 | | Spd | 45% | 8 | +2 | 24* | 24 | | Lck | 35% | 7 | - | 18 | 30 | | Def | 20% | 8 | +2 | 17 | 29 | | Res | 25% | 2 | +1 | 14 | 25 | | Mov | - | 7 | -1 | 6 | 6 | | Con | - | 9 | +4 | 13 | 13 | | Tot | - | 80 | +14 | 194 | 239 | =============================================================================== General Comments - Forde is a decent knight. He's your red knight in the game who, unlike previous FE games (except FE7), specializes in skill and speed. He's actually got pretty good HP, and will have really good skill and speed. His strength is especially low for a Paladin, and will struggle at points in the game. Aside from that, his luck, defense, and resistance aren't exactly good either. Technically Best As - Great Knight. He gets ten more stats in this class. 193 - 183 Prefered Promotion - Either. Honestly, Forde's an oddball. He might be doing well in a certain stat, or he might not. Generally, if he's doing well with his strength, then you should promote him into a Great Knight, since that class can better utilise that. If it's not doing as well (say, below 17 or 18) then make him a Paladin. Overall Rating - 6.5/10 He's decent. Not as good as Amelia, but not as bad as Duessel. Other Comments - Forde is a knight of Renais. He serves with Ephraim when you first meet him, along with his fellow knight Kyle. Kyle is the green knight in the game, who specializes in strength. Forde and Kyle are opposites and make a good team working together. 6. Franz When you get the character: Chapter 1. He comes in with Gilliam a couple turns in. If you make him a paladin, he stats aren't even as good as Seth's. Or if he's a great knight, his stats are barely above Seth's. He's got good HP and speed. His strength seems to be very random for me. Sometime's it'll max out, other times it'll be horrible. Luck of the draw, I guess. His luck and defense are okay, I guess, but his resistance is horrible. You can do better than Franz. Technically Best As - Great Knight. Ten point lead. 188 - 178 Prefered Promotion - Great Knight. He has better stats in almost every category and gets the use of axes. Though even as a great knight, he isn't spectacular... Overall Rating - 5.5/10 Better than Duessel, but worse than Forde. Other Comments - Franz is a new knight in service to Renais. He is younger brother to Forde, and is helping protect Eirika on her journey under command of General Seth. 7. Gilliam When you get the character: Chapter 1. A couple of turns in, he and Franz will appear. He's got spectacular HP and defense, and very good strength. The best way to use him is to put him out in front to take attacks for people with less defense such as archers and mages. He has the best defense in the game. It's a fact. However, the rest of Gilliam's stats are only okay at best. His speed often lets him down, as many enemies can double attack him. His movement is only 4 before promotion, so if you're going to use him as a wall, it'll be slow going. But if you're willing to bear with his slowness, you won't be disappointed in Gilliam. Technically Best As - General. It's got 11 points on the Great Knight. 206 - 195 Prefered Promotion - General. Sure, the great knight gets an extra movement, but the general gets so many more stats than the great knight does. Plus he gets big shield if you make him a general. Not that he needs it. His defense is already spectacular. Overall Rating - 7/10 Gilliam's horrible speed makes it nearly impossible to use him effectively on the battlefield. If you're looking for a General, use Amelia instead. Other Comments - Gilliam is a knight serving in the house of Frelia. He joins you when he comes to rescue Princess Tana at Border Moulon. 8. Kyle When you get the character: Chapter 5x. Rejoins you in chapter 8. Kyle just seems to have better stats all around. He'll nearly max his HP. He WILL max his strength and probably his speed. His skill is very good, and his defense is okay. However, his luck isn't very good, and his resistance is just plain bad. Keep him away from magic users at all costs. However, even his defense isn't especially impressive, so he'll be getting damaged from physical units as well. He is better than Forde though, so if you find yourself having to choose between the two, choose Kyle. Technically Best As - Great Knight. 7 points over Paladin. 197 - 190 Prefered Promotion - Great Knight. It's got a better strength cap, and Kyle can use every point of it. Great knight also gets better promotion bonuses. Axes are another bonus, but not really a big one. The only downside is that Paladins have two more movement, but you won't mind that much. Overall Rating - 7.5/10 A little better than Forde, but he's still no Amelia. ;) Other Comments - Kyle is a knight of Renais. He serves with Ephraim when you first meet him, along with his fellow knight Forde. Forde is the red knight in the game, who specializes in skill and speed. Forde and Kyle are opposites and make a good team working together. 9. You might think that he's the Marcus of this game, since he's your starting Paladin, but actually, his stats are rather decent. Well, for a prepromote anyway. He almost maxes his strength, and his skill, speed, and luck are decent. Even his HP, defense, and resistance are okay. If someone said that Seth was the best Paladin of this game, I'd say they have a decent case since Seth is actually quite good on the battlefield. You won't be disappointed if you use him. Technically Best As - Already Promoted Prefered Promotion - Already Promoted Overall Rating - 7/10 The Paladins in this game aren't particularily impressive, and Seth fits right in there as an average unit. Other Comments - Seth is a leading General of the Renais knights. He escorts Eirika out of the castle during the invasion of Renais to keep her safe. He'll accompany and escort you throughout the rest of your journey. B. Infantry ============ 10. He almost maxes his HP and strength, but his skill, speed, and defense aren't that great. His luck is especially low, and combined with his not-so-great speed, will considerably lower his evasion, which is a bad thing, due his only okay defense. Overall, you'll likely find that a major stumbling block for Dozla and toss him. His only only perk is that he gets a +15% on his critical rate, but even that doesn't much make his usefulness better. Technically Best As - Already Promoted Prefered Promotion - Already Promoted Overall Rating - 5/10 He's decent, but nothing special. He's no Ross, that's for sure. Other Comments - Dozla is a loyal servant of Princess L'Arachel. He's accompaning her on her quest to rid the world of darkness. He enjoys seeing L'Arachel thrive and is a true loyal servant to her, unlike his companion Rennac. 11. Garcia When you get the character: Chapter 2. Sure, he's got good strength and HP, but that's about it. His speed is bad, and his resistance is worse. It can't even get out of the single digits. Pathetic. I guess the rest of his stats are okay, but that still doesn't make him good. He's no Ross (his son, ironically). Despite his resistance being his lowest stat, his speed is his major weakness, since it's so low that enemies will be double attacking him like it's none of their business. Technically Best As - Warrior. Six point lead. 189 - 183 Prefered Promotion - Warrior. The strength cap on hero is way too low, which basically takes away his only strong point. Bows give him range too, so he's at least a little better. Overall Rating - 4/10 I don't like him. Use Ross instead. Other Comments - Garcia used to be a general for Renais until about 10 years ago. When his wife died, he left the army and speant his time as a father, bringing up his son Ross. He joins you when Ross persuades him to after their home village of Ide is attacked by bandits. 12. His stats are amazing. EVERY time I've played through the game, Gerik has maxed out his HP and strength, nearly maxed out his skill, and had very good stats in nearly everything else. In fact, I wish his strength cap was higher. He certainly could use up more points of strength. His only low mark is resistance, which is a common problem for infantry. Save that one problem, Gerik is amazing, and you won't mind his low resistance anyway. It's still good enough to get him buy without much damage from magic users. Technically Best As - Ranger. By 9 points. 214 - 205 Prefered Promotion - Either. His stats are already so high, it's hard to tell the difference in what he does anyway. Personally, I like both his promotion choices. It all comes down to whether you like bows or axes better, or want more movement with a ranger, or more con with a hero. I alternate promotions. They're both awesome. Overall Rating - 10/10 He's just that good. Other Comments - Gerik is the cheif of a mercenary league called Gerik's mercenaries. He's been hired by Prince Innes of Frelia and will loyally accompany you until your mission is complete. 13. Innes When you get the character: Chapter 10 Ek. Have Eirika talk to her. Chapter 15 Ep. None of his stats are particularily good, but none of them are particularily bad either. He'll have great dodge due to his rather high speed and luck, and will likely double attack every time, which is good. Overall, Neimi is a better unit as a whole, but if you somehow neglected her, she got RNG screwed, or she died, Innes is an excellent backup Sniper for her. Technically Best As - Already Promoted Prefered Promotion - Already Promoted Overall Rating - 6.5/10 He makes an excellent backup if you got a RNG screwed Neimi. She'll max out her strength, though she'll be strugling to get strength before promotion. She'll almost max out her skill and speed (though they might max if you're lucky). Her luck's decent. The only thing wrong with her is her low defense and resistance. She is an archer, though, and archers shouldn't be getting hit in the first place, so she really doesn't need though stats anyway. Overall though, she doesn't have enough stats to stand out as a GREAT unit, which is why I lowered her rating from a 9 to an 8 this update. Technically Best As - Ranger. By five points. 190 - 185 Prefered Promotion - Ranger. More stats, the use of a sword, AND she gets to ride a horse. I MUCH prefer that to inferior stats and a couple of useless skills. Overall Rating - 8/10 Low strength cap and low defense and resistance. Otherwise, she's great, she just doesn't have that "Wow" factor that a lot of other characters in the game have, Other Comments - Neimi joins you when she wants help rescueing her childhood friend Colm, who went to steal something of hers back from bandits himself. She's a very teary archer (she likes to cry a lot). 15. Ross When you get the character: Chapter 2. Rescue him with Vanessa, then have Eirika talk to him. Ross is awesome. It's just that simple. Ross has awesome HP and strength, and good skill, luck, and defense. His speed is tolerable too. The only thing is that his resistance lets him down. Why is it that all the intfantry have horrible resistance? >_< If you can put that fact aside, Ross will be your best axe wielder in the entire game. He's awesome. Technically Best As - Fighter > Warrior. By a whole point over berserker. Woohoo. 201 - 200 Prefered Promotion - Pirate > Berserker. I think I can put aside the one point advantage that the warrior class has and make him a berserker. The +20% critical is a big plus. With that, his critical rate is insane. You'll see it rise up into the mid 40's with IRON weapons. Give him a killer axe for a real treat. ;) Really the only thing he loses out on as a berserker is the bows that he would've gotten as a warrior, but you won't mind. Honestly, you won't. ;) Overall Rating - 9.5/10 He's awesome. If he was a little faster, I'd have given him a 10. Still, he'll be among your best though. Other Comments - Ross is one of three characters in the game that gets a second promotion, thus offering TONS of potential. He starts out as a unpromoted form of an unpromoted class, so his first promotion will make him into a standard unpromoted class. Since Ross has 10 more levels to grow than most other classes, obviously his stats get mad high, which is really useful. D. Swordsmen ============= 16. But he's not meant to be a main attacker. Colm will be your main treasure collecter for most, if not all, of the game. He's got excellent skill, speed, and luck. He could have good strength too if the cap wasn't so low. However he has poor HP, defense, and resistance, making him a good target for enemies to hit. You shouldn't leave him out in the open to get hit, but if an enemy attacks him, he most likely will dodge it, which is always a good thing. I would suggest using him for the entire game to open your chests and doors (and for FoW purposes), but he probably won't make it onto your final team. Technically Best As - Assassin, but only because an Assassin gets one more con at promotion. Prefered Promotion - Rogue. The stat gains are identical. The caps are identical. So what this boils down to is which skills you prefer. There's the assassin, who has silencer, or there's the rogue, who has steal and pick. If you make him an assassin, he'll be a better battler, but you'll have to be strugling to bring enough door keys and lockpicks along to open all your treasure. If you make him a rogue, he'll no longer need lockpicks to open doors and chests. He can do it without them now. So overall, Rogue wins out for me just for the utility. It's not worth the hassle otherwise. Overall Rating - 8/10 He's good at what he does. Much better than Rennac if you make him into a Rogue. MUCH better. However, he's frail, and you'll need to protect him to use him effectively. He also probably isn't worthy of your final team. Other Comments - Colm is a childhood of Neimi. He joins you while trying to steal back something from the bandits for Neimi. Since their village was destroyed by bandits, he and Neimi decide to come along with you. 17. His HP, skill, and speed will turn out excellent. His defense and resistance won't be good though. Even his strength is good for a Swordmaster. 35% growth for strength for a Swordmaster is pretty good, especially considering that the growth for Fir in FE6 was 25%. It'll turn out to be pretty good in the end, unless you get RNG screwed. Overall though, he's a great character and will likely be used for the entire game. Technically Best As - Swordmaster. 194 - 191 Prefered Promotion - Swordmaster. All in all, the +15% critical is just more useful than silencer and lockpick. If you're going to get a critical, it's already most like going to be a OHKO. I guess I just don't think that silencer is that great of a skill...plus you've got plenty of other characters that can pick locks. Overall Rating - 9/10 I raised his score from a 7.5 to a 9. Joshua is actually quite a nice unit to have, and is arguably the best Swordmaster of the GBA Fire Emblem titles (I disagree, but it's arguable). Other Comments - Joshua is a mercenary that's been hired by Grado. He joins you when he loses a coin toss to Natasha. He's also the heir to the thrown of Jehanna, unknown by all who he travels with. He's a big fan of games of chance. 18. Marisa When you get the character: Chapter 10 Ek. Appears as an enemy. Have Gerik talk to her. Chapter 12 Ep. Appears as an enemy. Have Ewan talk to her. Some games, she'll max her strength stat for me, other times, it'll be absolutely horid. You just never know with Marisa. She does have very good skill, speed, and luck, though, which makes her a very hard target to hit. But if she does get hit, expect it to do some damage to her. Her defense just plain bad. As is her resistance for that matter. Fortunately she has decent HP, so she can take a little bit of damage before she dies, but generally, keep her away from danger if at all possible. Technically Best As - Assassin. By 1 whole point. 190 - 189 Prefered Promotion - Swordmaster. It's a trade off really. If you really want an Assassin, she's the one you should make into one. As an assassin, she gets a little more defense and resistance, but sacrifices a couple points of her already low strength. I'd go for swordmaster simply because her high luck plus being able to do +15% more on criticals is much better than silencer. But like I said, if you want an assassin, she's the best one for the job. Overall Rating - 6.5/10 She's worse than Joshua. Her strength is really bad a lot of the time and she'll have trouble doing damage to some enemies. Other Comments - Marisa is part of Gerik's Mercenaries. She'll be sent to the wrong job, but the chief (Gerik) or Ewan will describe the mix up to her, and she'll travel along with you. 19. Rennac When you get the character: Chapter 14. Just yuck. Rennac's horrible. All his stats, except speed, are bad. All of them. In 20 levels, he only goes up five strength. Thirteen strength at the end of the game is unexeptable. Don't use him. Just don't. Technically Best As - Already Promoted Prefered Promotion - Already Promoted Overall Rating - 2.5/10 I raised his score from a 2 this update, since all Rogues are useful for is picking locks anyway, and he can certainly do that. Other Comments - Rennac is a mercenary who travels along with Lady L'Arachel and Dozla. He doesn't like getting dragged around the continent for very little pay and a bossy princess. Once his job is over, Grado hires him. He again encounters L'Arachel and is forced to go along with her, thus joining up with you. E. Magic Users =============== 20. He'll be your sole light magic user for most of the game. He's got great stats, and they grow quite nicely. He'll max his magic, no matter which path you choose for him. His skill, speed, and resistance are also quite nice. But like all magic users, he has problems with his HP and defense. His luck's low too, which is a shame. It's only got a 15% growth rate, so don't it to be anything special. Overall, you'll love Artur and will probably use him the entire game. Technically Best As - Sage. By a point. 183 - 182 Prefered Promotion - Either. This one's a toss up. On one hand, if you make him a sage, you get more magic, which he can use every point of, and you get the use of anima magic, which is very useful. On the other hand, if you make him a bishop, he gets more of other stats, particularly resistance. Plus he gets slayer, which is one of the most useful skills in story mode. It's your choice. Choose whichever path you want. He'll turn out great either way. Overall Rating - 9/10 His defense and luck are too low to give him a ten. Other Comments - Artur joins you when he is assigned to rid the Za'ha Woods of the revenants. 21. Ewan When you get the character: Chapter 12. Visit the house (the game shows you which one). | 42 | +14 | 194 | 233 | ============================================================================== General Comments - Ewan is awesome. He has magnificent stats in almost everything. Strength is good, though it probably won't max. Skill and speed are good. Luck is awesome (best luck of all the magic users), as it will probably max. Resistance is good, as is expected of a magic user. And even his HP and defense are decent for being a mage. It's not uncommon for his HP to rise even up as far as the 50s, though his defense will probably reach the mid teens at its highest. Ewan's just another one of those characters that you have to use. Technically Best As - Mage > Sage. Beats Mage > Mage Knight by 8 points. 202 - 194 Prefered Promotion - Shaman > Druid/Mage > Sage/Pupil > Super Pupil. Ewan has so many promotion paths, it's hard to choose which one I like best. Though Mage > Sage is technically the best one to promote to, I already have a holder for Excalibur (Lute has more magic to use it with), but I have no holder for Gleipnir (I refuse to use Knoll). Thus, I need a dark magic user. I don't like summoners. Their defense is too low for my liking. This leaves a Druid or a Super Pupil. If you're doing a normal game (before Super Pupil is available), you'll have to go with a Druid. But each of the two have their own advantages. The Super Pupil has a little more defense, but the druid has a little more of other stats. With the druid, you get staffs, and with the super pupil, you get light magic. I try out each one for different aspects each time I play. No matter what you make him, though, Ewan is going to rock. Overall Rating - 10/10 Got to love him. Other Comments - Ewan is one of three characters in the game that gets a second promotion, thus offering TONS of potential. He starts out as an unpromoted phase of an unpromoted character. In other words, after first promotion, he'll be like a normal unpromoted character. With so much time to grow, Ewan has a lot of time to get good, and he does. Ewan also has the most possible promotion paths of anyone in the game (eight different, if you include first promotion choices). 22. The problem is that the rest of his stats aren't really good at all. His speed is okay to good but his luck is REALLY bad. Having such a low luck stat is going to kill his dodging ability, which is made worse by his horrible defense. Given that he'll likely come close to death if he gets hit, and he can't dodge reliably at all, plus his other stats other than magic and resistance aren't exactly great, I'd recommend not using him. Technically Best As - Druid. 169 - 166 Prefered Promotion - Druid. Summoning is a rather useless skill, and druid has better stats and caps, so I guess druid, though I don't know why you would want to bother with promoting him anyway... Overall Rating - 3/10 Well, he's not as bad as Rennac, but he's not worth using. Other Comments - Knoll was a top researcher serving Prince Lyon in Grado. With the creation of the Dark Stone, Knoll was suspicious, and was locked up. Before his execution could be done, you take the Grado Keep and rescue him, so he decides to go along with you. 23. She'll max everything but HP and defense! There's so much glowing going on on her personal data page, you'll go blind just looking at it. She's good at everything she does. Get her past promotion (it'll take a while since she can only use staffs pre-promotion), and she slaughters everything. Her HP is rather low though, but even her defense is good for a magic user. Use her. Just do it. =P Technically Best As - Either. Tied at 197. Prefered Promotion - Either. Stat caps and promotion bonuses are even, except for one point of resistance if you promote to a Valkyrie. But that doesn't matter, since she'll max that anyway. She loses out on an HP if she's a Valkyrie, but makes up for it with her extra defense point. So what it really comes down to is whether you want to use light or anima magic. Overall Rating - 10/10 Yes. She's that awesome. =P Other Comments - L'Arachel is heir to the thrown in the sacred realm of Rausten. She's on a holy journey to rid the world of evil with her two companions, Dozla and Rennac. 24. Lute When you get the character: Chapter 4. Visit the south-western village. She'll be your mage with the highest magic in the game. No other magic user has a cap of 30 in magic. She'll max out her magic, and have very good speed, luck, and resistance. Her skill is fine, which leaves her only problem areas as her HP and defense. But lets not forget about her low con. Her low con will leave her having trouble with some of the heavier tomes, but that's nothing a simple body ring won't fix. Technically Best As - Sage. 9 point lead. 184 - 175 Prefered Promotion - Sage. Her magic caps at 25 as a mage knight. Rediculous! Horses might be cool to ride, but it's not worth a 5 point drop in magic. Overall Rating - 9/10 Her low HP, defense, and con let her down, otherwise it would've been a ten. Other Comments - Lute is a companion of Artur's. She loves to read and study and examine things. She believes she is a prodigy. 25. Moulder's not a very good magic user. He's got mediocre stats in pretty much everything except for con. He's got 11 con, which is very good, but that alone doesn't make him very good at all. You'll need another healer to replace him, and luckily Natasha comes in a couple chapters after him. Replace him with her ASAP. Technically Best As - Bishop. 170 - 168 Prefered Promotion - Bishop. He gets slightly better stats due to a better promotion bonus, but that doesn't really matter much anyway since his stats aren't that good in the first place. The only thing that would make him semi-useful is slayer, which sage doesn't get, so I'd go with bishop. Overall Rating - 3/10 He's not that great. Other Comments - Moulder is a vassal of Frelia who joins you when King Hayden appoints him to you. 26. Natasha When you get the character: Chapter 5 Starting level: Level 1 Cleric Affinity: Ice Weapon: Staffs Weapons gained by promotion: Light Magic Promotion paths: Bishop, Valkyrie Item required to promote: Guiding Ring Skill(s): None Skill(s) gained by promotion: Bishop: Slayer Stats - Bishop =============================================================================== |--------------------------|-------------------------------------------------| | Stat | Growth | Start | Promo. | Final | Max | | | % | Stats | Bonus | Avg | Stats | | ____________|____________|__________|______________|____________|__________| | HP | 50% | 18 | +3 | 41 | 60 | | Str | 60% | 2 | +1 | 25* | 25 | | Skl | 25% | 4 | +2 | 17 | 25 | | Spd | 40% | 8 | +1 | 25 | 26 | | Lck | 60% | 6 | - | 30* | 30 | | Def | 15% | 2 | +2 | 9 | 21 | | Res | 55% | 6 | +2 | 30* | 30 | | Mov | - | 5 | +1 | 6 | 6 | | Con | - | 4 | +1 | 5 | 5 | | Tot | - | 55 | +13 | 188 | 228 | =============================================================================== Stats - Valkyrie =============================================================================== |--------------------------|-------------------------------------------------| | Stat | Growth | Start | Promo. | Final | Max | | | % | Stats | Bonus | Avg | Stats | | ____________|____________|__________|______________|____________|__________| | HP | 50% | 18 | +3 | 42 | 60 | | Str | 60% | 2 | +2 | 25* | 25 | | Skl | 25% | 4 | +1 | 13 | 24 | | Spd | 40% | 8 | - | 23 | 25 | | Lck | 60% | 6 | - | 29 | 30 | | Def | 15% | 2 | +2 | 9 | 24 | | Res | 55% | 6 | +3 | 27 | 28 | | Mov | - | 5 | +2 | 7 | 7 | | Con | - | 4 | +2 | 6 | 6 | | Tot | - | 55 | +15 | 181 | 229 | =============================================================================== General Comments - Ah. A much better healer than Moulder. Natasha has very good magic, speed, luck, and resistance. That leaves her only problem areas as HP, skill, and defense. HP and defense is expected to be bad as a magic user, though, so that shouldn't pose too much of a problem. Natasha shouldn't be taking damage anyway due to her high speed and luck. She has poor to okay skill, but she hits a good portion of the time, so you won't mind that either. One of Natasha's best features though, is her support with Joshua. Supporting her with Joshua is quite a good idea and using them together, you'll have a great duo on the battlefield. Technically Best As - Bishop. 188 - 181 Prefered Promotion - Bishop. More stats means a better character. Plus she gets an extra four skill as a bishop. Sure, the defense cap is higher as a Valkyrie, but that doesn't matter because Natasha won't be able to reach it. But the Valkyrie has a lower resistance cap than the bishop does, and Natasha CAN reach that cap. Plus bishop gets slayer. Make her a bishop and you won't regret it. ;) Overall Rating - 8/10 She's solid, but her defense is rather low, and there are better overall magic users than her. Still very good though. Other Comments - Natasha has been branded a traiter by Grado. She noticed something wrong with the Emperor and wants to tell someone so it can be fixed. You run into her fleeing the country while you're in Serafew. 27. Saleh When you get the character: Chapter 12 Ek. Chapter 15 Ep. He'll be one of the worst magic users in the game, but he's decent in his own right. None of his stats are particularily impressive, but none of them are bad either. If you want a character thats ready to go from the time you get him (don't have to train), then Saleh is probably for you. He also makes a decent back up if the rest of your magic users die or get RNG screwed (that's not likely to happen though). Technically Best As - Already Promoted Prefered Promotion - Already Promoted Overall Rating - 5/10 I changed my mind on Saleh. I changed his score from a 3.5 to a 5. He's not really horrible, nor is he good. He's simply average. Other Comments - Saleh is a guardian to Myrrh, who lives in Caer Palyn. He is supposed to escort her on her journey. He is also teacher to Ewan. F. Fliers ========== 28. Cormag When you get the character: Chapter 13 Ek. Appears as an enemy. Talk to him with Eirika or Tana. Chapter 10 Ep. Appears as an enemy. Admittedly, he's my favorite character in the game. And I'll tell you why. He's a flying machine! He goes into sworms of enemies single-handedly, destroys them all, and comes back to tell the tale. He's amazing! He's one of those characters you'll use as a wall to block anything that might be coming your way. His only let down is his extrememly low resistance. It's bad. One game, my Cormag had 3 resistance at level 20. His weakness to bows can easily be solved by giving him the Fili Shield, so don't worry about that one. Use Cormag. You won't regret it for a second. Technically Best As - Wyvern Lord. 196 - 192 Prefered Promotion - Wyvern Lord. A lot of people say they prefer Cormag as a Wyvern Knight, but I disagree. The only category that the knight beats the lord in is speed. And that's only due to the low cap on speed as a lord. Other than that, the lord has the knight beat in every category. True, you're losing out on pierce by making him into a lord, but you've already got two other potential knights, and Cormag is your only potential lord. But no matter what youmake him, you'll love him. Overall Rating - 10/10 He's just that awesome. I won't even mark down for his low resistance, since he has enough HP to survive those attacks anyway. Other Comments - Cormag is the brother of Glen, Sunstone of the Imperial Three. 29. She's got high strength, skill, speed, and luck. She's a master at dodging, so her low to okay defense and resistance won't bother you at all. Her HP is a bit on the low side too, but again, she dodges so often, she doesn't really need it. Before promotion, you'll have to protect her, since she's frail and her dodge isn't up to par yet, but after promotion, you can expect her to go and destroy everything and come out alive. Using her with Cormag is particularly effective (get the support up on those two). ;) Technically Best As - Falcoknight. But it's only by a point, so I don't care. 199 - 198 Prefered Promotion - Either. Wyvern Knight has piercing. Falcoknight gets swords and triangle attack. I'm personally a fan of traditional promotions, so I'll make her a Falcoknight pretty often now. You'll get a great character either way, so in the end, it doesn't really matter much. Overall Rating - 9.5/10 She's awesome. Another great flier. Other Comments - Tana is the Princess of Frelia, daughter of King Hayden, and brother to Innes. 31. She's got very nice skill, speed, and luck, and has decent resistance. Her HP and defense is a problem though, but she dodges so much, she hardly needs it. She's like Tana in that respect. The only other problem is her low strength. It's really not that good at all. She does have high speed though, so she should be double attacking with no problem, which sort of fixes that problem. You'll probably use her up until the point where you get Tana, then drop her. That is, unless you want to take advantage of using the triangle attack. Technically Best As - Falcoknight. 193 - 189 Prefered Promotion - Either. See Tana. Overall Rating - 8/10 She's good, but not quite as good as Tana is. Myrrh is one of those characters who just makes the game too easy. While she's not technically that good on her on, her dragon stone gives her ultra enhanced stats. Her final strength will end up being 32 (including dragon stone bonus)! That's the highest of anyone in the game! The dragon stone bonuses should technically be added in to the total, since that's the only thing she can equip anyway. Another awesome thing is how easily she gains experience! She's built like the trainees in the sense that when you attack an enemy, you get around 33 exp, and if you defeat an enemy, you get around 90! The only thing you have to be careful about with Myrrh is the limited use on her dragon stone. It only has 50 uses, and you CAN'T use the Hammerne staff to repair it. So once it's gone, it's gone (though I'd never use it completely up, if I were you). Technically Best As - Can't Promote Prefered Promotion - Can't Promote Overall Rating - 10/10 She makes the game too easy. :) Other Comments - Myrrh is in the tribe of Manakete. She's the great dragon in disguise. She is a little girl on the outside, but she's got these suspicious wings. In battle, she turns into a ferocious dragon that annialates the enemy, then turns back when she's done attacking (or being attacked). 33. Tethys When you get the character: Chapter 10 Ek. She can't attack or defend, so she needs a constant bodyguard. Her stats are horrible. She can't promote. All she has is one useless skill, in my opinion. She can dance, which gives any player which has already taken their turn another turn. Effectly, she wastes a spot in your party which could be given to someone better. Then again, either you like dancers, or you don't. There's no in between. Technically Best As - Can't Promote Prefered Promotion - Can't Promote Overall Rating - 1/10 I don't like dancers. Walkthrough ================ A. Prologue: The Fall of Renais ================================ Difficulty: * Events and Objectives: - Turn 1: Eirika and Seth join. - Turn 1: Eirika recieves a Rapier. - Defeat boss Preparations: None General Tactics: This chapter's pretty self explanatory. There's only three enemies, so you shouldn't have too much trouble with it. Have Eirika move towards the two fighters to the east. Don't use Seth to take them out. Eirika needs the exp. After those two are taken down, use a vulnerary if you're injured. Then move on to the boss. Boss Stats: O'Neill Level 4 Fighter HP: 23 Str: 6 Skl: 4 Spd: 7 Lck: 0 Def: 2 Res: 0 Boss Tactics: Not too difficult. He uses axes to fight, and axes aren't exactly famous for their accuracy, especially against swords. Move Eirika into a forest, then end your turn. Don't attack him on your turn, otherwise, there's a slight chance that he'll hit you and you won't have a chance to heal yourself. Let him attack you, and you'll counter. He'll go down soon enough. Enemies: 2 Fighters Reinforcements: None B. Chapter 1: Escape! ====================== Difficulty: * * Events and Objectives: - Turn 2: Franz and Gilliam come in from the North and join you - Seize Gate - After this chapter is over, you will recieve 5000 gold Preparations: None General Tactics: There's a couple more enemies in this chapter, but still nothing too hard. Move Eirika and Seth up slowly, with Eirika in the front. That way, she'll get all the exp., but will still be able to be rescued if need be. Eirika's sword will be effective against the axe users, but she'll have trouble against the lance users. Try to use Franz or Gilliam to take out the soldiers so Eirika doesn't get killed. Use vulneraries if necessary. There will be some reinforcements from the southeast a couple turns in. Move Franz and Gilliam towards them to take them out while continuing on with Eirika and Seth towards the boss. Once you take him down, seize the gate and you're done. Boss Stats: Breguet Level 4 Knight HP: 20 Str: 8 Skl: 2 Spd: 1 Lck: 2 Def: 9 Res: 0 Boss Tactics: Still pretty easy. His defense is pretty high, so that might give you trouble. Luckily, your Rapier will do plenty of damage to him, so he should go down in a couple turns. Enemies: 3 Fighters 3 Soldiers Reinforcements: - Turn 3: 1 Soldier, 2 Fighters from the southeast. C. Chapter 2: The Protected ============================ Difficulty: * * Events and Objectives: - Turn 1: Moulder and Vanessa join you - Visit 3 villages for a Red Gem, Elixer, and a Pure Water - Rescue Ross with Vanessa - Talk to Ross with Eirika, Ross joins you - Talk to Garcia with Ross or Garcia is alive after the chapter: Garcia joins - Buy Eirika an Iron Sword during the battle - Kill brigand for a vulnerary - Defeat all enemies to end chapter - After battle, buy supplies at the armory Preparations: Not much to do in this respect yet. Give one of Franz's vulneraries to Gilliam. Other than that, you should be fine. General Tactics: Take this slowly. Go rescue Ross with Vanessa. Drop him off, then heal him with Moulder, then talk to him with Eirika. Talking to Garcia with Ross is optional. He survives on his own pretty well. At least, I've never seen him die in this battle. Anyway, there's lots of bandits and such in this chapter, so equip Franz with a sword, and try to use Eirika a lot. Use Gilliam as a shield if you want. He's at a disadvantage in this battle since he uses a lance, so try not to attack with him if possible. Same with Vanessa. Vanessa should be used to visit the southern village though. Just take it slowly, and you'll come out on top. Pretty simple chapter. Boss Stats: Bone Level 4 Brigand HP: 23 Str: 6 Skl: 4 Spd: 5 Lck: 0 Def: 4 Res: 0 Boss Tactics: Bone is pretty similar to the rest of the enemies in this chapter, only a bit stronger. Use sword users on him and he'll go down in no time. Enemies: 4 Brigands 1 Archer Reinforcements: - Turn 3: 2 Brigands from the west D. Chapter 3: The Bandits of Borgo =================================== Difficulty: * * * Events and Objectives: - Turn 1: Neimi joins you - Turn 2: Colm appears as an NPC - Talk to Colm with Neimi to make him join - Kill brigand for Door key - Kill brigand for Chest key - Steal Pure water from brigand - Steal Antitoxin from mercenary - Open chests for a Javelin, - Seize thrown Preparations: Again, you don't yet have access to the preperations menu at this point of the game, so there's not much you can do here... General Tactics: First turn, move Neimi up towards the stairs, so she can talk to Colm when he comes out in turn 2. Have Seth break down the battom wall and defeat the brigand in that room, then have him open the chest for the Javelin. Have Colm open up the remaining door and 3 chests. Use sword users on the brigands when possible. Have Ross or Neimi stand by the 2nd wall you can attack (but don't break that one down), and have either one of those two attack enemies from behind the wall before you open the door from the top. This chapter itself isn't that hard, but the boss may give you some trouble. Boss Stats: Bazba Level 6 Brigand HP: 25 Str: 8 Skl: 5 Spd: 7 Lck: 1 Def: 5 Res: 2 Boss Tactics: Bazba might give you some trouble due to his high stats. What you need to do is use sword users as much as possible on him to kill him. Eirika does a fine job with this. Heal when necessary. You might consider Seth using that newly earned Javelin on him to weaken him before you have another unit take him out. Enemies: 6 Brigands, 1 Thief, 1 Archer, 1 Mercenary Reinforcements: none E. Chapter 4: Ancient Horrors ============================== Difficulty: * * Events and Objectives: - Turn 1: Artur joins you - Visit the southern village to recruit Lute - Visit the northern village to get an Iron Axe - Turn 3: L'Arachel and Companies make an appearance, but don't stay - Defeat all enemies to end chapter Preparations: Yay! Now we have access to the preperations menu! Okay, here's what we need to do: take Seth and someone else out of your party for Colm and Neimi (they need the experience, trust me). Now transfer your items around as you see fit. Maybe transfer some of the treasures from the last chapter into storage. Now you need to alter your formation a bit. Move Gilliam and other people with low movement towards the front, and your mounted units and Vanessa towards the back. You can't move Eirika or Artur, so don't worry about that. Now we're ready to start the battle! General Tactics: This is your first battle against monsters. Honestly, I think monsters are easier to fight than regular enemies are. Their stats are just plain inferior. Anyway, Artur can take on the revenants and bonewalkers to the right. If you want sent Ross or Neimi with him too to let them gain experience. Send Vanessa down to the southern village to get Lute. You should't need to send someone else down there with her if you're doing normal mode. Although, if you're doing hard mode, sending someone else with her is a MUST. Other than that, just make sure you keep your group together and keep taking the units out and make your way down to the boss. You have to defeat all of the enemies on the screen to beat the chapter. Boss Stats: Level 1 Entombed HP: 35 Str: 3 Skl: 0 Spd: 1 Lck: 0 Def: 0 Res: 0 Boss Tactics: This boss is a joke. Use someone that needs experience to get the final blow on him. Its almost a guarenteed level up. ;) Enemies: 8 Revenants, 3 Bonewalkers, 3 Mogalls Reinforcements: - Turn 2: 3 Bonewalkers from the east, 4 Revenants from the northwest F. Chapter 5: The Empire's Reach ================================= Difficulty: * * * Events and Objectives: - Turn 1: Natasha joins you - Turn 1: Joshua appears as an enemy - Have Natasha talk to Joshua and he will join you - Visit 4 villages for Dragonshield, Armorslayer, Secret Book, and a Torch - Visit arena for money and experience (optional, since training can now be done in the tower or the ruins) - Visit shop and armory for supplies (can be done after the battle) - Defeat boss to end the chapter - After this chapter, you wil recieve a Guiding Ring if you visited all of the villages Preparations: Take out Moulder, put in Lute. Natasha has to be in this battle anyway, and there's no point in taking an extra healer, when you could be using Lute instead. Make sure all your weapons are in good condition before you start the battle, otherwise, go and buy new ones. Also, make sure you give a heal to Natasha before the battle starts. After you're satisfied with your team (it should contain a good mix, since this battle has a little bit of everything in it), start the battle. General Tactics: Move slowly. Don't bother with the left path up. Just send your entire group up the main path. If you get too close to Joshua, he'll come down and attack you. He's got a killing edge too, so make sure that you have someone with good defense set up to take that blow (Gilliam is a good choice), but first give all his weapons to someone else so he can't counter Joshua and kill him. Also make sure that Natasha is within range of where Joshua will be before you do this. Other than recruiting Joshua, there will be two brigands coming in from the east that will be hard to take care of. Eirika can do some decent damage to them, so try to use her for that. Otherwise, just keep an eye on your HP, and try to heal with Natasha every turn so you can raise her level a bit. Follow the weapon triangle when possible, meaning use sword users against those fighters and axe users (or lance users) against the soldiers. Attack archers at close range so they can't counter you. Also make sure you visit all of the villages so you can enter chapter 5x. Once you've beaten the majority of the enemies, move on to the boss. Boss Stats: Saar Level 8 Knight HP: 30 Str: 11 Skl: 7 Spd: 3 Lck: 4 Def: 11 Res: 3 Boss Tactics: Saar's High HP, strength, and defense might give you problems. Luckily his speed is low, so you'll be able to double attack him. He's also got low resistance, which is his weakness. Use either Artur or Lute to take him out. Just make sure he can't kill them with one attack (he's got a javelin) or you'll be screwed. If you don't want to use Artur or Lute to kill him, use Eirika with her Rapier, or give someone an armorslayer. Either way will work quite nicely. Enemies: 5 Fighters, 6 Soldiers, 3 Archers, 1 Mercenary Reinforcements: - Turn 1: Joshua - Turn 2: 2 Brigands from the southeast - Turn 6: 2 Brigands from the east G. Chapter 5x: Unbroken Heart ================================= Difficulty: * * * * Events and Objectives: - Turn 1: Ephraim, Orson, Kyle, and Forde join you. You can only use these four in this chapter - Kill Knight for Door Key - Kill Fighter for Chest Key - Kill Mage for Chest Key - Open 2 chests for an Elixer and a Killer Lance - Kill Archer for Elixer - Transfer all of Orson's items to other people before the chapter ends - Seize thrown Preparations: There's no preparation screen on this chapter. Plus you go immediately from chapter 5 into this chapter, so there's nothing you can do anyway. ;) General Tactics: This chapter isn't easy, especially in hard mode. YOU MUST GO SLOWLY OR YOU WILL DIE. Also, they give you healing items for a reason. You will be using them in this chapter or you will die. Don't overuse them though (IE using an Elixer when a Vulnerary would've sufficed). Other than just plain taking it slow and healing often, you shouldn't have that much trouble with this chapter. Oh, and by the way, NEVER USE ORSON. He turns traitor after this traitor and you never get him back, so it's just wasted experience if you use him. Try to use Ephraim as much as possible. He's a tank, so he can take a couple hits. Plus he comes in on level 4, while the others are at higher level, so he needs more experience. Make your way through the castle and seize the thrown to end the chapter. Boss Stats: Zonta Level 8 Mercenary HP: 25 Str: 9 Skl: 8 Spd: 9 Lck: 4 Def: 6 Res: 6 Boss Tactics: Zonta isn't that bad. He's a sword user, and all of your characters that you have can use lances. It's your choice on which lance you want to use (though I wouldn't use Reginleif), but I think I'd have Ephraim give him the final blow. Just for the experience. Enemies: 9 Soldiers, 2 Shamans, 4 Archers, 1 Monk, 3 Cavaliers, 5 Fighters, 1 Mercenary, 2 Mages, 3 Knights Reinforcements: - If you kill the mage on the stairs, another one will appear in its place H. Chapter 6: Victims of War ================================= Difficulty: * * * * * Events and Objectives: - Visit Village for an Antitoxin - Defeat Fighter for a Halberd - Defeat boss to end the chapter - If all of the villagers survive, you'll recieve an Orion's Bolt after the chapter Preparations: Remember that Torch you got last chapter? Bring it. This is your first FoW map and it's a PAIN. Bring Colm too, since he can see farther in Fow. Don't bring characters you'll be unable to protect. Enemies come out of nowhere and kill you. Other than that, just bring the characters that you've been using. General Tactics: Your first FoW battle. Fun. -_- Actually this is probably my most hated battle in the game. Even more so than Ephraim's chapter 14. This chapter is just a pain. Anyway, there are two ways you can do this battle if you're on normal. You can take your entire group to the east first, and then go north to the boss. OR you can take your entire group to the north first, and then east to the boss. It's your choice. Of the two, taking your group to the north and then east is probably easier. If you're doing hard, that's the way you have to do it (trust me, I tried doing it the other way 8 or 9 times and each time failed in the attempt). Taking your group to the north first will prevent all of the enemies from ambushing you at once, which is what happens if you go to the east first. There are several Cavaliers that seem to come out of nowhere. Those will pose some trouble for you. Take them out with Eirika's Rapier. There's also a Fighter with a Halberd. Try to defeat him before you get attacked with it. For one thing, if you defeat him before he attacks you, you'll get the Halberd instead of an iron axe. Secondly, if he hits one of your mounted units with that thing, you might as well just start the chapter over. It's that powerful. Try to get to the boss as quickly as possible. After you destroy all the enemies that come from the north (cavaliers and such), the boss is the only thing that stands in your way of victory. Boss Stats: Novala Level 10 Shaman HP: 28 Mag: 10 Skl: 8 Spd: 6 Lck: 7 Def: 5 Res: 9 Boss Tactics: Shaman's have high resistance, so you won't want to use Artur or Lute to defeat him. Take him down by attacking him with several physical units to take advantage of his low defense. This guy's much easier than the chapter itself. Enemies: Due to FoW, I was unable to collect this information from the game Reinforcements: Due to FoW, I was unable to collect this information from the game I. Chapter 7: Waterside Renvall ================================ Difficulty: * * Events and Objectives: - Steal Energy Ring from Mage - Kill Mage for a Pure Water - Kill Murray for a Knight Crest - This is the first chapter with Ballistae, which Neimi can use - Seize gate Preparations: Bring your Rapier. This probably isn't the best level to use Vanessa in, so you might want to leave her behind. Someone with good movement would be nice to take out that lone archer on the Ballista. Make sure your weapons are in good shape before you enter this battle, since there won't be a time to go and buy new ones between this chapter and next. General Tactics: This isn't that hard of a chapter. Just put up a wall in the front to protect the rest of your characters and move through as quickly as you can. The only thing that might pose a problem is the archer on the Ballista since he can bypass your wall and shoot frail characters directly. That's the reason Vanessa shouldn't be used in this chapter. They shoot her down rather quickly. So like I said before, have someone with high movement rush up and take out the archer on that Ballista, and it's smooth sailing from there. Boss Stats: Murray Level 12 Cavalier HP: 32 Str: 8 Skl: 9 Spd: 10 Lck: 7 Def: 7 Res: 6 Boss Tactics: Murray really isn't that difficult. He's got pretty high speed, so you probably won't be able to double attack him. But you shouldn't need to. Use Eirika and her Rapier to weaken this guy a bunch, then use someone who can attack 2 squares away to finish him off. Simple. Enemies: 4 Soldiers, 4 Archers, 5 Fighters, 2 Mercenaries, 3 Mages Reinforcements: None J. Chapter 8: It's a Trap! ================================ Difficulty: * * * Events and Objectives: - Orson turns traitor before this chapter begins - Ephraim, Forde, and Kyle join on turn 2. - Kill Knight for a Door Key - Open 3 chests for Angelic Robe, Silver Sword, and Elysian Whip - Seize thrown - After this chapter, you will recieve 10,000 gold - After this chapter, Eirika and Ephraim will part ways, and you must choose which one of them to accompany Preparations: Other than bringing your Rapier and Armorslayer, I can't really think of anything specific you need. You only get 9 units in this chapter, so just use whoever you've been using in previous chapters. Oh, and bring Colm. You'll need him to open the 3 treasure chests, since they contain some quite useful items. ;) Ephraim, Forde, and Kyle will come in several turns in to help you out too. General Tactics: This chapter isn't too hard. There's quite a few enemies, but they're quite spread out for the most part, so it'll be easier to take them on. After Ephraim and companions come in, there will be some cavalier reinforcements from where they came, so don't move on until you get all of them. Make sure you get all the chests with Colm before you sezie the thrown, since they contain some nice treasure. Anyway, first off, don't take the door to the north that's right ahead of you from the start. Ephraim comes from the other way, so you'll want to be over there to join forces with him when he comes in. After you beat the cavaliers, take the narrow path up to the thrown, grabbing the chests on the way. Once you're there, take out Tirado, but don't seize the thrown until after you've defeated the 5 knights guarding the chest in the northeast room and you've grabbed it's treasure. Boss Stats: Tirado General Level 1 HP: 40 Str: 13 Skl: 8 Spd: 5 Lck: 2 Def: 14 Res: 8 Boss Tactics: Those high HP, strength, and defense might pose a problem to you. Luckily, he's got rather low speed, so you'll almost certainaly be able to double attack him. He's also got rather low resistance, meaning you'll be able to hit him with magic rather well. Don't bother attack him with weapons though, since it won't do much damage anyway. The exception being a couple weapons. You can always use Eirika's Rapier on enemies like this for good damage. Same with Ephraim's Reginleif. An Armorslayer will also work quite well. Another tactic would be to use those weapons from up front, while attacking him with magic from behind. Enemies: 9 Knights, 6 Soldiers, 1 Myrmidon, 2 Mercenaries, 2 Shamans, 5 Archers, 1 Mage Reinforcements: - Turn 4: 3 Cavaliers from the southwest - If you enter the Thrown room coridor, 2 Mages from the north, and 1 thief from the stairs will appear ================ Ephraim's Story ================ K. Chapter 9 Ephraim: Fort Rigwald =================================== Difficulty: * * * * Events and Objectives: - Before this chapter, the Tower of Valni will appear on the world map - Turn 1: Tana joins you - Kill Soldier for Door Key - Kill Cavalier for Heavy Spear - Talk to Amelia with Ephraim and she'll join - Kill Cavelier (reinforcement) for Chest Key - Rescue Tana from her cell - Open 3 chests for 2500 gold, Ocean Seal, and Restore Staff - Kill Knight for Axereaver - Kill Gheb for Killer Axe (or Iron Axe) - Seize thrown Preparations: You'll need Colm again, since there's more chests to open. You're probably running out of uses on your Lockpick, so luckily, one of the chests contains an Ocean Seal to promote Colm. After the chapter, you can train Colm to level 20 in the Tower of Valni, and then promote him to a Rogue (just for the utility, since Rogues don't need picks to pick locks). Anyway, there's a real mix of enemies in this battle, so bring a little bit of everything. Make sure you have at least a couple long range people, like Neimi, Lute, and Artur to take care of the enemies behind the wall. Another thing to note: both of the priests in this chapter have sleep staffs, so you might want to think about buying a Restore staff before this chapter (you'll need it later anyway). General Tactics: This chapter might take a while to complete, since the pathway to the boss is so long. Just take your time, and keep your group together. Try to take out the priests ASAP, since they have sleep staffs and can put you asleep. Keep your fragile characters protected at all times (lead with some people like Ephraim and Gilliam, or knights, for that matter), since there are some powerful enemies toward the beginning such as some Cavaliers, Fighers, and a Knight. Follow the weapon triangle at all times. That will help you to hit more of your attacks (always a good thing). Before you open the gate (use the door key you get, not Colm's Lockpick), make sure Ephraim is standing near the front. You'll need him to be up there so he can rush up and recruit Amelia before she attacks you and kills herself. Once you recruit her, keep her toward the back. You can train her in the Tower after the battle to get her up to par with the other characters. Once you pass that part, it's pretty easy until you get to the boss. Although, take a couple characters with Colm up to open the chests, since there will be enemy reinforcements coming once he goes up there. Boss Stats: Gheb Level 4 Warrior HP: 45 Str: 18 Skl: 8 Spd: 6 Lck: 1 Def: 13 Res: 5 Boss Tactics: Wow this guy's powerful. 18 strength! That could pose a problem. He's got a couple weaknesses though. First of all, he's a boss, so he won't step off of the thrown to attack you. Secondly, he's got horrible resistance, so you can use Lute and Artur to take him down without much of a problem. Finally, this guy has no ranged weapons, so if you use Lute and Artur to attack him, he won't be able to counter attack you. Use Lute and Artur. He'll go down without a problem if you go. Enemies: 2 Priests, 4 Mages, 6 Archers, 5 Knights, 4 Cavaliers, 5 Soldiers, 4 Mecenaries, 2 Fighters, 2 Shamans, 1 Myrmidon, Amelia Reinforcements: - Once you open the gate, 2 Cavaliers from the north will appear every turn for 2 turns - Once you enter the upper part (where the chests are), a Cavalier will appear from the east - Once you enter the part beside the thrown room, 3 Cavaliers and a Mage will appear from the southeast L. Chapter 10: Turning Traitor =============================== Difficulty: * * * * Events and Objectives: - Turn 2: Selena leaves, Beran replaces her as the boss - Visit 2 villages for a Torch (staff) and Hero Crest - Kill Fleet for a Secret Book - Turn 4: Cormag starts moving toward you - Kill Cavalier for a Horseslayer - Kill Cavalier for a Killing Edge - Kill Myrmidon for a Lancereaver - Talk to Duessel with Ephraim and he'll join - Talk to Cormag with Duessel or Tana and he'll join - Visit Shop and Armory for supplies (can be done after battle) - Protect Duessel (survive) for 10 turns to end the chapter Preparations: Well, if you've been using the tower to train some characters, now would be the time to promote them. A promoted Tana (or Vanessa, but Tana's better IMO) is very useful in this battle. She can fly over and kill the fleet with the Secret book, then go down and help rid the battlefield of the pirates that come from the ocean. You'll need Ephraim to recruit Duessel, but you have to take him anyway. Take some high movement characters too, so you can rush down as fast as you can (you'll need to recruit Duessel within a certain number of turns to avoid harming or even killing Cormag). Other than that, just make sure your weapons are in good shape, since there's a lot of enemies in this battle. Lots of different types of enemies too, so you'll be using them all. Lute and Artur can help a lot since none of the enemies have good resistance. General Tactics: Okay, don't worry about Selena as the boss, since she'll leave a couple of turns in and be replaced by someone else. Now, take your flier and head for the village. Once you get the village, head over to the fleet and move close enough to it so you're out of range. After you kill the fleet, move the flier down to go and kill the pirates (otherwise Duessel's units will have to try to take care of them). As for the rest of the units, just try to move them along as fast as possible while defeating all the enemies along the way. Once Cormag starts coming for you, make sure Duessel is within walking range to him. Make sure your other units aren't too close, or he WILL come and attack you. Once you recruit him, defeat his 2 wyvern rider companions and everyone else down in that area. There will be reinforcements pretty much every turn once you get down there, so try to stand on the forts to prevent them from coming every turn. It isn't necessary to defeat the boss to win, so just wait out the 10 turns. You could always defeat the boss for extra experience if you want, though. Boss Stats: Beran Level 7 Ranger HP: 43 Str: 15 Skl: 13 Spd: 14 Lck: 4 Def: 14 Res: 12 Boss Tactics: This guy's hard. It's probably a good thing that you don't have to actually beat him to win this chapter, but if you want to, here's how. A Cavalier in this chapter drops a Horseslayer. That's super effective against Rangers. You could always try using someone like Ephraim or Kyle (or another high strength character) to use that and take him down. There's also a myrmidon that drops a killing edge. You could try getting lucky with that. He's got both high defense and resistance though, which makes him a tough target. I'd suggest not fighting him at all and just waiting out the 10 turns to end the chapter. Enemies: 4 Mercenaries, 1 Myrmidon, 2 Archers, 3 Fighters, 3 Pirates, 2 Wyvern Riders, 2 Soldiers, 2 Fleets, 2 Cavaliers, 1 Shaman Reinforcements: 2 Mercenaries from forts every turn once you get down in the "lower" area. ======================== VII. Final Team Analysis ======================== The purpose of this section is to help you best decide which people to put on your final team (the team that you'll use for the final chapter). First of all, you should try to get a user for each legendary weapon that you have. This takes care of both Eirika and Ephraim, since they both have a personal legendary weapon (Seiglinde and Seigmunde). This also automatically puts in Myrrh, since the dragon stone counts as a legendary weapon. Now you need eight more people to weild the other eight legenaries you have. A. Audhumla ============ Let's start with the legendary sword, Audhulma. Potentially, you have twenty different characters who can use swords. They are: Gerik Gilliam Amelia Eirika Ross Tana Kyle Cormag Forde Joshua Vanessa Marisa Neimi Garcia Franz Seth Colm Syrene Duessel Rennac Now, you're probably not going to want to give Eirika a second legendary weapon, so that eliminates her. You also probably won't want to give a prepromote a legenary, since they have inferior stats. This takes care of Seth, Syrene, Duessel, and Rennac. You also probably won't want to give someone Audhulma if their primary weapon isn't swords. This takes care of Gilliam, Amelia, Ross, Tana, Cormag, Vanessa, Neimi, and Garcia. Colm has rather weak strength, so he also probably isn't a good weilder for it. That leaves us with: Gerik Kyle Forde Joshua Marisa Franz Three of those are knights, so the sword may or may not be their primary weapon. Personally, I tend not to give legendaries to knights because many other characters have better stats than them. That leaves us with: Gerik Joshua Marisa Joshua and Marisa both have rather low strength, so they probably aren't a good choice for Audhulma either. That leaves us with Gerik as the holder of Audhulma, our legendary sword. B. Vidofnir ============ Now let's move on to a weilder for our legendary lance, Vidofnir. Potentially you have eleven lance users in the game. They are: Ephraim Gilliam Amelia Tana Kyle Cormag Forde Vanessa Franz Seth Syrene You probably won't want to give Ephraim another legendary, so that takes care of him. You also probably won't want to give prepromotes a legendary, due to their inferior stats. This takes care of Seth and Syrene. So now our potential users are: Gilliam Amelia Tana Kyle Cormag Forde Vanessa Franz Gilliam has too low of a speed stat to use Vidofnir effectly, so that takes care of him. Like I said before, I don't give legendaries to knights because other characters tend to have better stats than them. This takes care of Kyle, Forde, and Franz. So now we have: Amelia Tana Cormag Vanessa Tana's and Vanessa's strength stat is a little too low for a legendary, so we'll throw them out too. This leaves us with Amelia and Cormag. Either one is fit to use Vidofnir, but I generally go with Cormag, not only because I like him better, but because he can fly, so he has more range to use it with. C. Garm ======== Now let's find a weilder for our legendary Axe, Garm. Potentially, you have nine axe users in the game. They are: Gilliam Amelia Ross Kyle Forde Garcia Franz Dozla Duessel You probably won't want to give a legendary to a prepromote, due to inferior stats, so that takes care of Dozla and Duessel. You probably also won't want to give a legendary to someone who doesn't use axes as their primary weapon. This eliminates Gilliam, Amelia, Kyle, Forde, and Franz. Now we have: Ross Garcia Garcia's stats aren't really good enough to be worthy of a legenary weapon, so Ross is the only other choice for Garm. D. Nidhogg =========== Now let's find a user for our legendary bow, Nidhogg. Potentially, you have four bow users in the game. They are: Gerik Neimi Innes Garcia You probably won't want to give another legendary to Gerik, so he's out. You also won't want to give one to Innes because he's a prepromote and has inferior stats. Garcia only uses the bow as a secondary weapon, which he uses mostly for range, so you also probably won't want to give it to him. The only other choice for our legendary bow is Neimi. E. Excalibur ============= Now let's find a user for our legendary anima magic tome, Excalibur. Potentially, there are seven anima tome users in the game. They are: Ewan L'Arachel Lute Artur Moulder Saleh Knoll Saleh is eliminated immediately because he's a prepromote with inferior stats. Knoll and Moulder are also eliminated due to their bad stats. This leaves us with: Ewan L'Arachel Lute Artur You probably won't give Artur Excalibur because his primary magic should be light magic. You also shouldn't give it to Ewan, because he's potentially your only dark magic user in the game. This leaves us with: L'Arachel Lute L'Arachel's magic cap is set at 25, which is 5 points below what Lute's magic stat is. With a magic stat of 30, Lute is the best choice for Excalibur. F. Ivaldi ========== Now let's find a user for the legendary light magic tome, Ivaldi. Potentially, there are seven light magic users in the game. They are: Ewan L'Arachel Natasha Lute Artur Moulder Saleh You probably won't give a second legendary to Lute (nor can you, if she's already got an S rank in anima magic), so she's out. You probably won't give it to Moulder or Saleh, due to inferior stats. Ewan is your potentially your only dark magic user, so he won't due for this either. This leaves us with: L'Arachel Natasha Artur L'Arachel makes a good user for the legendary staff, so I generally don't use her for Ivaldi, though there's nothing wrong with doing so. This leaves us with either Natasha or Artur as our Ivaldi weilder. Either one is fine at the job. G. Gleipnir ============ Now let's find a user for the legendary dark magic tome, Gleipnir. There are potentially two dark magic users in the game. They are: Ewan Knoll Knoll is unfit to do much of anything, much less weild a legendary weapon, so Ewan is the obvious best choice for the job. H. Latona ========== Now let's find a user for the legendary staff, Latona. There are potentially eight staff users in the game. They are: Ewan L'Arachel Natasha Lute Artur Moulder Saleh Knoll You probably won't give Moulder, Saleh, or Knoll Latona due to inferior stats, an you probably won't give Ewan, Natasha/Artur, or Lute Latona because they already have a legenary weapon. This leaves us with: Natasha/Artur L'Arachel L'Arachel and Natasha/Artur (whichever didn't get Ivaldi) will be the only magic users left for the job. I find that L'Arachel is usually my best magic user (outside of Ewan), so I give it to her. I. Other ========= Now that we have a weilder for our legendary weapon, we can put together our final team. This is what we have so far: Eirika Ephraim Myrrh Gerik Cormag/Amelia Ross Neimi Lute Artur/Natasha Ewan L'Arachel We have one more slot left for someone who doesn't have a legendary weapon. Generally I chose Cormag or Amelia, whichever doesn't have Vidofnir, to be in my final position. They both have great stats and neither should be left out of your final battle. Regretably, there's no more room to put Tana in there, unless you're missing someone for a legendary weapon, which often happens. Put her in there if say, Myrrh runs out of uses on the dragon stone, or if you don't have a weilder for the Nidhogg or Gleipnir. Tana's awesome, so it's a shame I have no room to put her in. ================================= VIII. Frequently Asked Questions ================================= Q. How do I recruit ? A. Please look at that characters section in my FAQ. It will tell you how to recruit them in there. Q. My character died! Is there any way I can get them back without having to redo the chapter? A. No. If they die, they're gone forever. Q. Are Marth and Roy in this game? A. No. Marth is in the Original Fire Emblem for NES as well as Fire Emblem 3, and Roy is in Fire Emblem 6: Fuuin No Tsurugi for Game Boy Advance, both of which never made a debut outside of Japan. Q. What are these "super trainees" you talk about? A. Super Trainees are only available once you've beaten the game once on Ephraim's story and once on Eirika's story. The next play through, they will be available. When the trainee reaches level 10 and automatically promotes, you'll be given the option to make them into a trainee again. Choose this. Then when you use a promotion item to promote them again, you'll be given the option to promote them into a trainee again. Choose this. This state is known as the "super trainee" because of the extra benefits they get in this form as opposed to being a regular trainee. Q. What is the Triangle Attack? A. The Triangle Attack is a special attack that the Pegasus Knights get when all three of them surround the enemy and one of them attack. It has special battle animation and will always do three times the damage of a normal attack, with 100% accuracy (despite what the numbers say). It also has a possibility of nine times the normal damage with a critical hit. Q. What is the Random Number Generator? A. The Random Number Generator (RNG) is something that determines almost everything in the game. What you get in level ups, how often you critical, how often you get hit, the RNG determines it all. It randomly generates a number, then if that number is in the range of what your hit/evade/critical/growth is, then a favorable action to you will take place. For example, if your hit rate is 50, the RNG will generate a number. If the number is 1-50, you'll hit the enemy. If it's 51-100, then you'll miss. It works the same way for the other categories. Q. How do I beat ? A. Look in my walkthrough section. If it's a boss from a chapter that I haven't gotten through yet, e-mail me about it, and I'll be happy to answer that for you. Q. How do I beat ? A. Same thing applies here as did for the bosses. Q. I disagree with something you said in your FAQ. Why'd you say that is bad? They're really good! A. It's my opinion. E-mail me about it if you want, just do it in a respectful and intelligent manner. I'll be happy to argue with you all you want with it, though it probably won't change my opinion. Q. I found something that's wrong/missing from your FAQ! A. E-mail it to me. I'll be happy to add it and give you credit for letting me know about it. :) ===================== IX.
