You play the role of Mike who is trying to do one last job in order to leave the city. But as luck would have it, this wouldn't be the last job as you soon find out. The game is an overhead action game that's based around fetch missions. There are other things thrown your way to mix things up but just don't expect anything too far out there. The dialog is laughable at best so don't take the story seriously. In this guide you will find every bit of info that I could possibly put together. There's a lot of trivial stuff that may help even the most starving GTA fan, and there's also a complete walkthrough. And it's all free. So sit back and enjoy this overhead GTA incarnation. ############################################################################### 2.00 | GETTING STARTED ############################################################################### ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2.10 | Controls & Movement ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On foot ------- D-pad - Move A - Hit/shoot B - Sprint L - Follow/jack vehicle Select - Switch weapon Sprinting: Hold down the B button to sprint. It doesn't last forever and when Mike slows down you'll have to wait a few seconds before you can sprint again. Strafing: Hold the R button and press the D-pad in strafe in the wanted direction. Jumping Barriers: The brown barriers used to enclose large areas can be jumped. To do it, move towards one (facing it), then press A and B together. Mike should leap right over it. In vehicle ---------- D-pad - Steer A - Accelerate B - Brake/reverse L - Exit vehicle R - Power brake Cruise Control: To use cruise control simply get to your desired speed, press and hold up on the D-pad, and then let go of the A button. Horn: To turn sound your horn or alarm, hold R and press up on the D-pad. Side Missions: To go on a side mission (assuming you're in a mission vehicle such a cop car) press L and R at the same time. Donut: Performing a donut is simple. Hold down the power brake while holding left or right. Fishtailing: Fishtailing is when you go in one direction (as if to donut) and then reverse your direction. Learning how to do a fishtail is important because it allows you to stay in your car and *effectively* run over your enemy(s). Let's say you're doing a donut in a clockwise motion and a guy is in the center of the donut. You won't be able to hit him unless you fishtail because he's following your car's movement. So start a donut and as your enemy(s) starts to follow your car, change the direction on your d-pad to whip back the other way. If done correctly you will run them over with your back end. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2.20 | Game Basics ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Radar (a.k.a your map): The radar tells you where you next mission is along with a host of other things. For example, your hideout is represented by a pink house. Enemies are a red dot, and missions can be various other symbols depending on what the mission is. Check your radar against the map that came with the game if you're having trouble finding something in particular. Saving: To save your game, find the hideout on the radar (designated with a pink house). Go around to the back and choose the save option. SAVE FREQUENTLY! But note that you cannot save while in a mission. Mission Failure: Getting busted or killed will result in failure if you're on a mission. However, if you fail *in between* two missions, meaning you beat one mission, but haven't officially gotten to the next, you won't have to re-do the last mission. When you fail a mission you can re-enter it simply by driving back to where you first got the assignment. For instance, if you fail a mission in the beginning of the game, you would simply drive to where Vinnie is on the map and you'll get to retry it. Typically, your assignments are a square with a letter on it. Avoiding Traffic: Unfortunately, dodging the cars by staying on the center line isn't as effective as the past GTA games, however. I find that driving on the sidewalk is the best thing to do when wanting to gain speed on long streets. The downside, of course, is that your wanted meter will go up if a cop sees you. Police Bribes: These are the gold stars found throughout the game. They lower your wanted meter by one star. Police bribes are hard to come by but if you see one while being chased by the law, grab it in hopes to shake some of them. ############################################################################### 3.00 | MISSION WALKTHROUGH ############################################################################### Welcome to my in-depth GTA Advance walkthrough. This may not be the hardest game in the world but I could see how people might have some difficulties with some of the missions. For the most part, the game guides you along, but for those wanting to know how to do things exactly, this walkthrough is for you. Besides, I don't think you'd be reading this if you weren't looking for a little bit of help. NOTES: 1) When a mission is completed I still keep the walkthrough in that mission until the next mission is initiated. So if you complete mission 20 (for example) and don't know where to go afterwards, just stay in mission 20's walkthrough as it should guide you to 21. Portland is very urban in look and feel. A huge chunk of the game takes place here so you better get comfy with the place. Take a joyride around the city before venturing on with the missions. Get to know the island and see the things that the city has -- or will have -- to offer. It's also recommended that you start doing the side missions and rampages after you've gotten used to the game via story missions. That way the game is easier to handle because these side mission will reward you with things that will help you in story mode (for example, unlimited running stamina). But it's completely up to you -- just a forewarning. 01. JUMP START -------------- Follow Vinnie north and get into the car after he does. Vinnie what's to make a deal with the mafia and you'll drive there. It's a restaurant in Portland Beach. Just head east as soon as you gain control. When your car (the white arrow on your radar) lines up vertically with the pink dot, head north you see the blue box in the street. Drive onto it for a dialog scene. Get back into the car and head west to where the pink house is at on the radar. This is the hideout; a place where you save your game progress and look at the items you have collected throughout the course of your missions. Drive to it and approach the south side of the building that the pink house icon is facing. Drive into the alleyway and Mike says he should look inside. Get out and run north, then west, over to the blue circle to complete the mission. Drive back to the restaurant, represented by a blue square with a white V on it, where Vinnie is waiting. 02. DIRTY LAUNDRY ----------------- It's time to get some heat -- so get and your car and head west. You want to drive to Ammu-Nation designated by a green square on your radar. When you get to it, drive around the west end of the building, get out and walk onto the flag that's on the sidewalk. While inside, buy a pistol with the cash you were given. Also, if you built up enough cash by doing side stuff, you can buy other weapons that you can afford. Weapon in hand, hop in a car and head south to where Fedrico is (the red dot may take a while to appear since you have to wait for the text to stop). When you arrive, Mike will get out of the car. After the cutscene Fedrico will chase you on foot. Get your distance from him, then turn around and shoot or hit him with your bat. When you kill him the mission will be over and you'll earn some cash. Head back to the restaurant (blue square) for a new mission. 03. HOT WHEELS -------------- The trip to the banshee is a lengthy one. When you get to Atlantic Quays, drive to the north side of the parking lot and enter. Drive south to car where the parking attendant asks for a stub. Run around to his side and kill him. Try not to damage the car or it's mission failure. Hop in the car to see a message from Vinnie. Take it to the Pay 'N' Spray located at the orange square with the spray can on it. Cops will chase you as you make a dash for the place. Just wing it out until you get there. Drive onto the blue square and drive the car inside for a fresh coat of paint. You don't have to shake the cops to get your paint job, surprisingly. Cruise to the hideout and park the car on the square for some cash. You can save your game via the blue circle if you want to. Get back to Vinnie at the restaurant for a new mission. 04. ILL-GOTTEN -------------- Drive to where the green dot is and get the package in the alley. You can enter at the east or west side. Now go to the second dot that appears where you'll have to kill two goons before getting the package. The third package is just northeast of this location in another parking lot. After the discussion quickly kill the guy and the two that come from behind. Get the package and head out towards the pink dot. Simply head out the east side and onto the street, then keep going north until you get to it. Stand on the blue circle to for a conversation with Vinnie and some cash for completing the mission. The blue square on your radar is where you want to be. Fortunately, that's the same place. 05. PAYBACK ----------- Drive south to Trenton where you must give payback for the disrespect to the mafia. Run the first guy over and move towards the next red dot. In the parking lot a guy is demanding another guy's money -- kill him and move north to your final red dot. This guy is on the move in a van. Ram the van as best you can and try to get it to stop. If you have a gun (especially a shotgun), cut the van off, get out, and start shooting at it. When the van catches first run the guy over when he gets out to pass the mission. Drive back to the restaurant to meet Vinnie yet again. 06. FAKE IDS ------------ Drive to the pink dot located at Portland Beach. Once there, get out and step on the blue circle to meet with 8-Ball. After the cutscene you're warned that someone alerted the police. Your wanted level should be at two stars, and you can get the one that the camera panned to moments ago. Either way, before you can go back to the restaurant you need to get to the Pay 'N' Spray (orange square) to reduce your wanted level completely. Drive far south, past the restaurant, and into the Pay 'N' Spray garage. With a new coat of paint, head north to the restaurant to complete the mission. Vinnie mentions Chinatown and then tell you this is where he wants you to meet him. So get in a car and head towards Vinnie's icon for your next mission. 07. GETAWAY ----------- All of the sudden, Vinnie changes plans. Drive to the hideout just north of here to discover the car waiting in the back. Now is a good time to save your game. Hop in the car and drive it to the pink dot on your radar. When you arrive past the Callahan Bridge you'll need to drive to the south side of the parking lot where Vinnie awaits. After the cutscene involving Vinnie, Mike says he needs to get to the hideout. Don't! Instead, go to the Pay 'N' Spray to get a new paint job. After that's done, you get a page from 8-Ball warning you that the cops are at the hideout and you should come to Portland Beach. 8-Ball's location is represented by a blue square with the number 8. Find him in the same spot of Portland Beach that he was before. After the cutscene you're outside again. Wait for the page and step on the blue circle again for a new mission. 08. TWISTED METAL ----------------- Get into the red car with the arrow above it. Come out to the street and drive north up the first alleyway you see. When you approach the pink dot on your map, drive around to the west side of the building and park the car on the crusher. Exit and watch the car get crushed. After 8-Ball talks to you the mission is over. Find you a car and head back to 8-Balls place for a new mission. 09. ILL REPUTE -------------- You have 4:00 minutes to pick up the girls and drop them off individually. The one southwest of you is closer, so drive out to the street and go a couple blocks west and then shoot south. She's waiting on the sidewalk -- stop the car and let her in. (Be careful not to run the ladies over unless you want to fail the mission!) Now take her to the pink dot that appears southeast of here. Park onto the blue square and let her out. The second green dot reappears. Go pick this lady up and drop her off at the next pink dot that's near the hideout. Move northeast and get the last escort and drop her off far south of here to pass the mission. 8-Ball wants you to come back to deliver a package for him. Do so. He's still at his Portland Beach warehouse. 10. DROPPIN' BOMBS ------------------ Your car won't cut it this mission. Go up and get into the orange car with the arrow above it. Notice the damage meter on your screen? Once that meter bottoms out it's mission failure. Avoid wrecks by going slow. Also, avoid raising your wanted level so that the cops don't screw with you. Drive far west, past the hideout, and park the car on the blue square to complete the mission. Go back east to 8-Ball's place once again. 11. SCORELLI ------------ Get in your car and drive southwest to the pink dot. Approach the alley from any side, but you must get out of your car and walk because the paths are blocked. (Note: if you can't past the barrier on one side of the alley, move to the other side and try walking past.) As you move towards the center a bunch of guys show up. You have to kill all of them any way you see fit. If you have ammo you could try taking them out one-by-one: run, turn around and shoot, then run again. I went out to the street, hopped in a car, and started doing donuts as they approached. This was quick and easy --- but don't stop near them or they'll drag you out of the car. Get yourself a car and drive northwest to the green dot. Take the car into the parking lot and get into the one with the arrow above it. After the cutscene, quickly turn the car around and head northeast in the parking lot where you'll see a green van come out. Pass it up an exit out the east side of the compound. Haul ass southeast of here to the Pay 'N' Spray. This will get the van off your tail. [Yes, I realize that my method doesn't involve killing Scorelli's goons! But if you want to kill them then be my guest. :P] After the page from 8-Ball, head back to see him (pink dot) for your next mission. When 8-Ball tells you to come to his pad you will formally start the next mission by standing on the blue circle that will appear. 12. LOVE BOAT ------------- Run out to the street and get a car. Drive southeast to the location on the map. When you get to Portland Harbor drive on the blue square and Jonnie will meet up with you. After the conversation some guys appear in front of the car. Drive their way, killing as many as you can. Then drive northwest of here and out to the street. If you lose them (along with the two cars that may chase) Jonnie will tell you to take him to his bar in the red light district, marked with a pink dot. When you arrive at the bar, you must kill the goons threaten Jonnie's life. If you want to run them over you must do it quickly so that they don't blow up the car. If you have ammo, I recommend getting out of the car and shooting at them. Either way, take them out to get things right with Jonnie and to pass the mission. Stay nearby, and when the blue circle appears you can start the next mission. But before you do so, you may want to go back to the hideout and save your game progress since it's nearby. 13. TIME'S UP ------------- This mission is relatively difficult compared to your previous missions. You're given a strict amount of time and you must seek out multiple persons and kill them. It will probably take you a few attempts to get it right, but once you realize how to approach each enemy the mission becomes cake work. You're working for Jonnie now, and it's time to pay some guys a visit. You want to start by running around the streets and finding yourself a fast car (there's one in the bar's parking lot). At the start of the mission there are three red dots on your radar. By the time you find a car a fourth red dot will appear; and it's close by. Quickly find it and catch up to it. It's the car with an arrow above it. Cut the car off and quickly get out of your car, drag the guy out of his car and kill him. You have to do this will precision. Make sure that you get far enough away from your car so that Mike doesn't try getting back in it when you press L to get the guy out. With the first guy dead there's now three red dots left on your radar: Two northeast of your position and one far south. It doesn't matter what order you kill them in, but you do want to take the most efficient route. For the walkthrough's safe, you can take my path. Start with the northern-most guy that's in Harwood. Find him walking on the sidewalk and run him down. Once you do this, a group of thugs will appear (check your radar). Run them over by using donuts and fish tails. When there's no more nearby on the radar, quickly drive southwest to the basketball court in Saint Marks. To get on it, you have to drive in the midsection on the east side. Find the guy on the northern court and run him over. With another guy dead, head for the last one far south of Saint Marks. Keep going to the red dot but don't move too far west or the Callahan bridge will get in your way. The last guy is in Callahan Point. When he sees you he starts to run; you know what to do. When this last guy is dead you will complete the mission. Head back to Jonnie's bar. Warning: lose the cops before going into Jonnie's bar because they carry over into the next mission! 14. SOBER DRIVER ---------------- Pick up the drunk girl in the parking lot next to the bar. If the cops are on your tail from the previous mission, pick up the star in this parking lot. The girl want to go to a club in Harwood, east of Jonnie's bar, so take her. When she gets there two thugs show up, so kill them. Go for the one closest to the girl and then shoot the other one. Walk up to the girl and she'll talk to you. Get back in a vehicle and start moving with her inside. When boyfriend shows up, quickly drive off and away from. Don't bother trying to ram or kill him; it won't work. Instead, wait for the pink icon to appear on your radar (this is her house). Drive her home. The blue square is in a parking lot where her place is. After mission completion, drive back to the bar for a new mission. 15. HAPPY HOUR -------------- If the cops are on you at the start of the mission you're pretty much forced to go to the Pay 'N' Spray because you can't afford to take too much damage. So if that's the case, go there and that out of the way first. Time to collect the pickups. You have exactly four minutes to get all of them and get back to Jonnie's bar. Going at a stead rate and good route, one could drive to all of them, have time to stop at the Pay 'N' Spray and still get back to the bar before the time runs out. The best thing to do is drive south first and get the west-most pickup. With all pickups someone will come out and drop it in the street (you must pick it up on foot and get back in your truck). Then move in a counter-clockwise motion, moving up to the Pay 'N' Spray (you can stop there if you're doing good). Past the Pay 'N' Spray, move north and get the final two. Finally, drive to Jonnie's bar which is now represented by a pink dot on the radar. This mission is tough, I know, but remember to move south first and go in a counter-clockwise motion, getting all of the pickups on the way. 16. GRAND OPENING ----------------- Like Jonnie tells you, take the Idaho over to 8-Ball's shop (not Pay 'N' Spray). It's the pink dot on the radar. 8-Ball isn't in the same building as he was before --- this one is harder to get to (there's a ramp that you can use to jump the barrier southeast of the pink dot). When you get there, get the car bomb from Slick. Listen to the instructions for setting the bomb, also note the bomb symbol that appears on the radar (this is where you can get bombs later on). Head to the pink dot, avoiding a car fire! Stop the car on the blue square in front of the club, select the bomb, press A and B together and the bomb should set. Once you do that, get out of the car, and then press A to detonate when you've gotten some distance. With the club in ruins, get yourself a new ride fast. Get out of there while you can and make a dash to Pay 'N' Spray. Jonnie will page you afterwards, telling you to come back to his bar. Do so for a new mission. 17. POCKET ROCKET ----------------- Drive southeast to Portland Harbor where the green dot is. Collect the rocket launcher awaiting you. What a surprise --- a bunch of guys show up! Hop back in your car and run them down. The car with an arrow above must be taken care of as well. If you have firepower, shoot the crap out if. Or you can just drag the guy out and put him down like Old Yeller. With all of the red dots gone from radar, head back to the bar. After you get your mission bonus sit tight and wait for the next mission. 18. POLITICAL WILL ------------------ You have two minutes to complete this objective, so be quick about it. Hop in the car that's in the parking lot. Go east toward the pink dot. When you get there it turns into a red dot. Catch up to the limo on the move and start ramming into it. By now the cops should be on to you. When you ram it enough, the senator will get out of the limo for a brief cutscene. After he talks kill any cops near you, being careful not to harm the senator. With the cops off of you, find the senator and start punching him (do not shoot him!). Punch him until his damage meter is a little past halfway. He will submit in the cutscene and the objective will be complete. Wait for the page from Jonnie. Go to the Pay 'N' Spray and get a paint job. Now go to the bar. 19. SHOW THE MONEY ------------------ Go far east towards the pink dot on your radar. Get out of your car and enter the alleyway. You talk to the guy and he'll leave the money. At this point you can either take the money and get out of dodge or you can wait around for the guy to take it back and his goons show up. Take the easy route since your choice doesn't affect the story. Grab the loot and get out of there as fast is possible, however. If you do stick around and wait for the money to be taken, kill him and the large group of guys that show up. Now grab the loot and head back to Jonnie's bar. When you get there you notice what's going on. After the cutscene, get in a car and head south towards the pink dot and west over the bridge. Get to the blue square and cross the bridge to Staunton Island. When you get there, drive west and go around to the Newport Docks located northeast of the first street you see that runs north and south. When you get to the "K" on your radar, get out and walk onto the circle on the dock. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- STAUNTON ISLAND ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Staunton Island, while it has the same entities as Portland, there are some differences besides the layout. For one, you can now get five stars on your wanted meter. This means that once you get five stars and even greater attempt to stop you will be instilled by the police. Things that have not changed are places you can go; such as Ammu-Nation, Pay 'N' Spray, the hideout, etc. The one difference is their locations. If you feel so inclined to go back to Portland, you can just by crossing the Callahan Bridge when not in a mission. 20. RACE TO RUN --------------- Note the blue car northeast of the green car with in the arrow above. This blue car will follow you from checkpoint-to-checkpoint, trying try ram you off the road. Before taking off, find another car from off the street and park diagonally in front of the blue car as to block it. Now get in the green car with the arrow above it and a pink dot will appear north of you on the radar. All you have to do now is drive to each checkpoint (pink dot) that appears before the timer runs out. You must hit all checkpoints and you only get one at a time. Drive at a steady pace without wrecking much and you should be able to beat this mission with time to spare. Don't for get to block the Yakuza guy before starting if he bothers you too much throughout the mission. When you hit the last checkpoint near where you started, King Courtney will message you. Get back to the blue circle on the dock for a new mission. 21. LATIN COFFEE ---------------- This mission is simple enough: collect the 12 "coffee" cans for King Courtney. Move to the first red dot southwest of your location. When you get to the parking lot in Bedford Point, kill the four guys in the parking lot and collect the coffee cans they drop (8 left). Doing donuts and fishtails won't be as effective as getting speed and ramming them straight on. Move to the next red dot north of here. In the second location are four more guys. Kill them and them as a fifth guy takes off --- don't worry about stopping him since you have to let him go for now. Kill the four guys and collect the coffee cans (4 left). Go to the third location on your radar. As with the other two groups, kill these guys. Don't let them trap you between the buildings, though. Once they're dead head back to King Courtney. 22. THE BIG SCORE ----------------- Get yourself a car and head northwest towards the pink dot. (Before going there make sure you have a shotgun and some ammo. If you don't head over to Ammu-Nation and pick some up because this will come in handy.) When you arrive to the location Mike gets out of the car and the camera will pan up to to the guys you need to kill. Run up on them and start shooting everyone with an arrow above their head --- no matter the color. If you're using the shotgun try to keep your back clear and let them approach from the front, shooting them as they get close. With all of them dead you pass the objective. Go back to King Courtney as expected. (If you haven't saved your game in a while, now is a good time since the hideout is on the way back). 23. FINE DINING --------------- Drive west to the pink dot on the radar. When you get to the spot in Belleville, get out and stand on the blue circle to activate a cutscene. Don't bother with going to the front. Instead, run west and then south to the back of the building. Equip your fists (err... or holster your weapon). Stand on the blue circle for another cutscene that takes place inside the restaurant. After the cutscene, with your fists out, run towards Cisco and start punching him. Keep doing this till the damage meter is empty. After the discussion, drive to the C that appears on the radar. 24. FLYING HIGH --------------- Get inside the purple Diablo then turn around and drive south. To save time, at the turn, look for a ramp grass. Hitting this ramp at a high speed will send you over the freeway and to the other side. If you're having problems making the jump correctly, just know that staying on the left sidewalk and hitting the ramp at a slight angle will work. If your car flips try aiming for the wall next time. After the bridge jump, go directly south to the green dot and stop on the blue square. When you get the shoes go further south and pick the second pair up. Once you have the second pair you'll get four stars on your wanted meter. Drive like crazy northeast to the location of the third pair. All shoes taken care of (for now), you no longer have to worry about the car you're driving. If the cops blow it up just get a new one. Drive back to Cisco and talk to him. Grab the shoes nearby and head south to the pink dot in Bedford Point. Collect the meat that the guy leaves and take it east to the next pink dot. This is the spot that you were before. After the disgruntled guy is finished talking, him and his boys will start shooting at you. Return fire and kill all of them to complete the mission. Find a care and get back to Cisco. 25. FACTORY WAGES ----------------- Before doing anything else, drive to the bomb shop in Torrington and buy a car bomb, which costs $1,000. Just southwest of here is a pink dot; go to it and the technician will show up in his car (now a red dot). Catch up to him and ram his car until he gets. Chase him down and shoot or hit him --- he will drop his ID card. Pick up the ID and finish him off. Get back in a car and head to the pink dot that appears north of you on the radar. Stop the car on the blue square in front of the building, select the bomb, press A and B together and the bomb should set. Once you do that, get out of the car, and press A to detonate when you've gotten some distance. Quickly leave the scene of the crime and get back to Cisco after the mission complete screen. Now is a good time to save and stock up on guns & ammo (preferably get some shotgun ammo for the next mission). 26. SCHOOL'S OUT ---------------- You have three minutes to complete this mission, so hurry up and get in a car and drive north, cutting northeast through the stadium parking lot instead of going around it. As you near the pink dot on the radar you will see a blue square in the street that disappears once you get close. When the red dot pops up in a random spot (you may have to drive around before it does), find it and ram it once --- and only once. After that, block its path, get out of your car, and shoot the limo with one shotgun blast (this should definitely be enough to draw the guys out but not destroy it). When they get out lure them away from the limo and kill them. Get in the limo and take it to Pay 'N' Spray to get fixed up. (You should have nearly two minutes left for good pacing.) After getting the limo fixed and painted, head back up north to the pink dot. When you get to the school don't park too far too far to the right on the blue square or the game may mess up and you'll have to restart the mission. Just stay to the left and you'll be fine. Once the Yuka cutscene is over it's time to bring her to Cisco. Head towards Cisco's place and two cars will soon give chase. You must lose them. Simply drive without stopping, stay off the grass, and avoid hitting anything that will slow you down. They're really easy to lose as long as you don't slow down. I like to circle the stadium (but staying away from the grass around it). When you lose them, take the girl to Cisco to complete the mission. When the cutscene is over, wait for the page then go to the A icon on the radar. 27. KID'S A HERO ---------------- Drive far north to Liberty Campus. Park on the square and after the guy comes out walk over to the circle to put the ransom. After he takes the money hop back into your car. Now drive northwest to the pink dot that appears on the radar. When you get near the stadium, the camera pans west and into the adjacent parking lot where some goons are standing in front of a bus. Hop over the barrier behind the bus and into the parking lot. Approach the bus to find that it's locked --- you're spotted. Go back to your car and drive around to the entrance side of the parking lot. While inside, run all of the guys down. Collect the bus key that one of them will drop. Get in the bus for a cutscene. Now drive straight out of the parking lot, making a left as to go south. Soon after you will be chased by two cars who ram the bus. I like to go as far west as I possibly can, to the shoreline, and drive south along shore itself. This works well because the trees near the shore slow down your pursuers. So do that and if you hit the ramp at the turn you can jump the median. Just keep going south and don't take corners too fast or the bus may flip over. If that happens you will fail the mission. When you finally get to Asuka you will pass the mission. After the cutscene wait for the circle to appear for your new mission. 28. ANTE UP ----------- There are two ways to complete this mission. Method 1 is easiest. Method 1: Drive to the casino and talk to the guy. He asks you to take care of some cop. We won't. Instead, drive to the bomb shop just north of the casino. Come back down and blow the casino up with the car bomb. Hurry and find a car in the parking lot. Now that you have 3 stars you must quickly get to the Pay 'N' Spray. After you get your new paint job head west back to Asuka's place to complete the mission. Method 2: Drive to the casino and talk to the guy. He asks you to take care of some cop. We WILL. Drive north to the pink do on the radar. Stop on the blue square at the intersection and find the cop who's represented by a red dot. Hurry up and kill him (it takes a lot to kill him --- just keep running him down). Now make a run for Pay 'N' Spray if you must. Go back to the casino and collect the money. Finally, go west, back to Asuka to complete the mission. 29. TWO-HAND TOSS ----------------- This mission is simple enough. Drive north to the stadium. Park your car outside and walk onto the field. Before approaching the players get out your baseball bat equipped. After the cutscene with the team's quarterback, start hitting him with the bat. Moments later the team will join his chase, so keep your distance. Only swing at him when he's in the front of the pack because injuring the other player badly will result in mission failure. Run, turn around, swing, and then run again. Keep repeating this until his damage meter is halfway. After the talking by the QB and Asuka, you will pass the mission. Head back to her place for a new one. 30. SCORNED LOVER ----------------- Drive to the pink dot on your radar. When you get there you'll witness a movie being filmed. After the cutscene several guys run up to you. You can either shoot them with your shotgun or get back in your car and run them over. The shotgun method is less time consuming. When they're all dead you'll talk to Asuka's love interest, the actor. He leaves the alligator shoes on the ground for you. You don't have to kill him --- you just have to get the shoes --- but if you want to kill him go ahead. Get back in your car and head towards Pay 'N' Spray as the cops show up. Get your car painted and head back to Asuka's place to complete the mission. 31. SUE ME SUSHI ---------------- The shotgun is useful for this mission. You have five minutes to complete this mission so get moving ASAP. And if you can, highjack a fast car from out in the street. You have three green dots on your radar and the order that you go to them does not matter (take my route for the walkthrough sake of it). The first two guys you cannot kill or you'll fail the mission. The third guy can be killed, however. First, drive to the green dot southeast of Asuka's place. When you get to the area the green dot will disappear and a red dot will show up moments later (in a random spot). Find the truck and cut it off. Get out and shoot it with your shotgun once. The guy will get out and scold you for what you did. Now he'll either run (unlikely) or try to fight you. Regardless of which, equip your bat and start beating him with it. Eventually he'll give up. Get back in your car and head northeast to the next green dot. When you get to the second green dot you have to do the same thing as before: cut the guy off and shoot his truck. But you won't need to beat him because when he gets out of the truck a cutscene plays and when it's over the trucker is gone. Hop in your car and move to the third and final green dot that's north of here. When you get to the third and final guy, do the same as the previous two: shoot the truck and he'll get out and talk to you. Only this time it will be the truck that you're looking for. If you don't want the trucker tagging along with you, go ahead and kill him. Get in the box truck (since it has the bad fish in it) and drive it back to Asuka's place to complete the mission. 32. DOWN THE RIVER ------------------ Drive to the first location on your radar and start beating the thugs who have an arrow over their heads with the katana Asuka gave you. Hit each one twice (and no more or they will die) and they will walk to the truck and wait for you. When you have all thugs in the truck (check for red dots on your radar), get back into it and drive to the docks designated by a pink dot on your radar. After you drop them off head to the next location in Bedford Point. In the parking lot in Bedford Point, park on the blue square for more thugs to appear. This is you final stop of the mission, so get to work when the red dots appear. When you reach 15 thugs Mike will say something about Asuka and this is where you can stop if you want to (each extra thug you get rewards you with extra money though). When you're finished getting at least 15 thugs, get back in your truck and exit the parking lot. When your screen flashes a few cars will show up on your radar. One is usually all you'll have to deal with, because the other two often get stuck, so you can shoot if you wish to. However, I find it much easier just to outrun the cars completely. They may ram you a few times but it saves time opposed to shooting them. Just make a b-line northeast, north, and then east to the docks once again. Drop the remaining thugs off to complete the mission. Find yourself a vehicle then head back to Asuka for one more mission. 33. BAD PIMPIN' --------------- The first part of this mission is very simple. Drive east and stand on the blue circle. Then kill the pimp and his goons that appear nearby. Once you do that drive back to Asuka for a cutscene, basically completing that part of the mission. After the cutscene you may want to find a fast car. Then head east to the pink dot and step on the blue circle for a short cutscene. The cops and two mafia cars will be on you as you head towards the pink dot. You can ditch the cops via the Pay 'N' Spray but the mafia will likely follow you unless they get stuck or just plain lost. Either way, you need to get to the bridge in Belleville and take it to the third island called Shoreside Island before the timer runs out. You're told to go to the Wichita Gardens (pink dot). NOTE: There are two slightly different paths you can take for the next mission (34), so scroll down and see. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SHORESIDE ISLAND ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you thought Staunton was a tough place to be in, welcome to Shoreside. Pedestrians are aggressive and are packing more heat. Stay out of their way and do not make them angry or you'll quickly have a mob surrounding you. A neat feature of Shoreside is that there's a river separating the northeast corner from the rest of the island (use the ramp (74,97) to jump it). And like the previous island, you are now allowed to gain one more star on the wanted meter, maxing it out at six stars! What do you have to deal with at six stars? Oh, just the military including a tank... That is if you live long enough to get inside of it. Have fun. :) 34. MYSTERY KILLER ------------------ When you entered Shoreside you were told to go to the Wichita Gardens and then you got a page from Cisco telling you to come to him because it's a trap. If you listen to Cisco and meet him, you will still have to go to the location in Wichita afterwards. If you don't listen to him you should go to Wichita first. Not listening to him is faster, trust me. Whichever method you use, you need to cross the river (there's a shortcut via the ramp located at coordinates 74,97). When you get to the pink dot on the radar stand on the blue circle to talk to the guy. When he calls his boys on you quickly take them out. Running them over is not smart since they're throwing cocktails, plus the area is tight. Get out and use the shotgun or whatever weapon you have. When they're all dead, head back to Cisco's plane in Francis Intl. 35. DECOY DISASTER ------------------ Once you get into the limo do not get out or you'll fail the mission. Drive north then east to the first checkpoint, then head north through the grass towards the second checkpoint when you'll be chased by two cars which will ram you. Stay at a high speed when moving one checkpoint to the next and you should be fine. Approach the next two checkpoints at a low speed because the direction you have to go afterwards is usually whacked. Eventually you will be directed from one checkpoint to the next. The cars will stop chasing when the hood (gang) begins the pursuit on foot. Simply speed past them and don't look back. Eventually, even the mafia will send two cars after you. Outrun them like you did previously and take the checkpoints in a clockwise manner. When do them all, you will see short cutscene with Mike. With the checkpoints out of your way, it's time to head west to Pike Creek. You can get a faster car now if you wish. Go on the other side of the river (ramp at coordinates 78,34) and to the location on the radar. When you arrive at the parking lot step on the circle to talk to the guy. Afterwards, work fast to kill all of his men in under a minute or you'll fail. Don't mess with civilians, only go for the guys over their head even if a civilian is shooting at you. When you're done head back to Cisco plane. 36. TRUTH REVEALED ------------------ The camera pans to a car taking off. Kill the guys nearby first. Use whatever you have in your arsenal to take them out, including a car. Once they're dead you can chase the car down. Gain on it and cut it off. Get out and start shooting it. A cutscene will play shoot the guy until another cutscene plays. Ignore the men that pull up and focus on killing the guy that you just tracked down. When you finally kill him the mission will be over. You get a page from 8-Ball, but before going to his place make sure you swing by Ammu-Nation and purchase body armor and a flame thrower! You will need them for the next mission, trust me. 37. LOVE OF MONEY ----------------- One of Cisco's guys shows up with not a gang of guys---but a whole army! You have to kill this wave (along with three more, totaling four waves) without dying. This is tough so make sure you have your flame thrower equipped. Have you back facing in between the building, hold R, and let them come to you. As they do, strafe away, and let them have it with the flame thrower. Don't go crazy with it because you only have two canisters and they need to last for all four waves or you're in trouble. If your health gets low, get the two health packs behind the buildings (west side). When all four waves of guys are toasted you'll see another cutscene with 8-Ball. It's time to head out. Quickly exit the parking lot the same way you came it. Run out to the street and get yourself a car before you're busted. Drive southeast to the Pay 'N' Spray for a cutscene. After the message, wait for the cartel icon to appear and then drive to it. Stop your car on the blue square for a new mission. 38. TAKING REVENGE ------------------ From the start of the mission, wait for the red dot to appear on the radar and drive to it. Cut the truck off and start shooting at it. The guy will get out and threaten him. You know what to do: start shooting him until he gives up. He threatens to sick his yardies on you if you kill him. It's recommended that you just let him go because this doesn't affect the story. And if you kill him and take on his yardies, you risk getting killed and failing the mission. If you let him go just wait for him to take off in the distance for a cutscene to play and to complete the mission. If you chose to kill him you must kill his yardies that appear to complete the mission. Listen to what Mike says and load up on some ammo (shotgun ammo in particular) before moving to the next mission. 39. SMACKDOWN ------------- Smackdown can be one of the toughest missions in the game. You're given a strict amount of time to seek out all ten thugs and kill them. The different routes you can take is virtually limitless, and since there's no one "end all" routes, so tips will have to do. Also, I will give you a map of my route after the tips: 1) Use the shotgun for this mission. Quickly line up your shot with the thugs so that you can kill them with first shot. If you know you hit them directly then don't waste time waiting for the blood to spill. Get back into your car as soon as you see the red dot disappear on the radar. 2) Prior to starting the mission get yourself a fast car such as the Banshee or even a police cruiser. This saves time and allows you to jump the ramps easily. 3) When you stop to kill a thug, try stopping behind them so that you or the police don't shoot your ride! 4) When checking your position against my position on the map below, pause the game after you kill each thug. This way there's no confusion as to where you have to go next. The map can be found here: db.gamefaqs.com/portable/gbadvance/file/grand_theft_auto_advance_smackdown.png HawkeyeSmash recommends this route (no jumps): img107.exs.cx/img107/9417/Mypathforthe10kills.jpg Once you kill all of the thugs the clocks dissolves but the mission is still not over. If you're in a police cruiser get out of it and into a normal vehicle. Drive to Pay 'N' Spray to ditch the cops and complete the mission. After you get the page from Asuka go to Ammu-Nation to buy some body armor and about four (4) flame thrower ammo tanks since the next mission necessitates these two things. Now go meet with Asuka across the river. 40. ASSAULT JOINT ----------------- The car pulls away and moments later a bunch of goons appear. Run to cover as fast as you can. When you're ready, equip your flame thrower and go to town on these guys. With these guys dead it's time to head north to where the "A" is now at on the radar. When you arrive Asuka's men pull up to offer help. They give you time to get in position but you really don't have to wait. Just pull out your flame thrower and start torching the crowd of guys just northwest of Asuka's guys in the grass. Take out the guy that rushes you first since he has a shotgun. When you're finished with them you can collect the health packs on the lawn before jumping over the barrier and entering the compound. Approach the pink dot to see King Courtney whom has his goons with him. After talking to him you'll have to focus on killing his goons... three times over. On the forth time you get to fight one-on-one and Courtney has a rocket launcher! His rockets are easy to dodge as long as you anticipate them coming. Run diagonally across the screen, back-and-forth, until you get the rhythm of his rockets down. Once you do, move in with your flame thrower, torch him, move away, repeat. When his health is almost gone he retreats. When you're by the "K" on the radar the next mission will commence. 41. FREEDOM FLIES ----------------- This is the final run in your desperate attempt to get out of the city. Jump the barrier and out front should be a tank waiting for you (there's a chance that it could be a Diablo -- check the tricks section for more info). The whole time that you are driving the cops and army will be on you, so don't stop and fire at any cops that shoot at you or get in your way. Go around roadblocks. Okay, what you want to do is take the main road west as far as you possibly can, to the point where you're near the western shore. Now drive all the way south, a long stretch of roads, until you get to the airport. When you arrive quickly get out and stand on circle to complete the mission and the game. ############################################################################### 4.00 | SIDE MISSIONS / EARNING MONEY ############################################################################### Miscellaneous ------------- Killing Pedestrians: The easiest way to get cash is to kill civilians. Run them over, shoot them, do whatever you must. The amount of cash they drop ranges from 10 to 50 dollars. Pimps (big fur coats) tend to drop piles of cash, so look out for them. Be careful when killing pedestrians because if a cop is on-screen when you do it, your wanted level will go to one star and you'll be pursued, sometimes even by angry pedestrians nearby. Completing Missions: The main purpose of the game is to beat all of the story missions. After each you will receive a large amount of cash, usually depending on the difficulty of the mission you beat. Car Crusher: Taking cars to get crushed will result in you getting money for the scrap metal. Whenever you're near the place, find a car on the street and park it on the crusher at the junkyard (in Portland). The coordinates are 155, 24. Side Missions Descriptions -------------------------- The main purpose of side missions is to give you money so you can buy more weapons at Ammu-Nation and get a fresh paintjob at Pay 'N' Spray when needed. However, if you know the GTA games well enough you know that you can unlock stuff by doing a certain amount of side missions. In order to avoid being redundant, "unlockables" data through side missions can be seen here: http://www.gamefaqs.com/portable/gbadvance/code/919434.html Vigilante Missions: To go on vigilante Missions simply get in a police car and press the L and R shoulder buttons at the same time. When vigilante mode is initiated a timer is displayed and you have a preset amount of time to apprehend the suspect. Doing so many earns you police bribes. Rampages: To go on a rampage you must find a rampage icon (red circle with green skull). There are only a handful on each island, so they are difficult to find without knowing their coordinates beforehand. When you pick up the icon you're given a certain amount of time and a specific weapon. You're asked to go on a rampage, or killing spree. For example kill 30 gang members with in two minutes. Completing the rampage rewards you with cash, obviously. Note that for each rampage is one just like it, and completing one rampage makes both like rampages disappear. Firetruck Missions: If you manage to find a firetruck, initiate the mission with L and R. For the missions you must drive to a burning vehicle represented by a red dot on the radar. Drive up to it and, while facing it, press A and B together to spray water at it, extinguishing the fire. Move to the next vehicle on the radar once it appears. Paramedic Missions: Find the patient represented by a green dot (you have a set amount of time). When you get to them stop nearby and they'll get into the ambulance. Now drive them to the hospital and then your paramedic level will increase. Try to not hit pedestrians and cops along the way because if you pull up to your patient while around an angry mob, your patient could be killed and you will fail the mission. Taxi Missions: These missions work almost exactly like the paramedic missions. Pick up the pedestrian on the radar and drop them off to the location that appears. It's that simple. Wait for the next pedestrian to show up. Races: To enter a race simply drive to the checkered flag on the radar at all times. Races are checkpoint-based, so simply drive to each checkpoint at a time. Each island has 6 races each, making the total 18 if you're going for 100% completion. You must complete all races on the previous island in order to do them on the next. Demolition Football: To get this you need to complete all races on the first and second islands (12 races total). After doing this you will see an icon on your radar (when on Staunton). Drive to it and play. ############################################################################### 5.00 | PACKAGE LOCATIONS ############################################################################### The following numbers are game coordinates. They're accessed through skull icons that you pick up, just like you would a package. When the rampage starts you're told to kill a certain amount of gang members with the weapon you're given (with infinite ammo). Sometimes it's a sword or car, but usually it's a gun. Rampage Tips: - You're wanted meter can still go up while on rampages, avoid the law. - Gang members hang in groups, where there's one there could be more. - Hide behind the corners of buildings to get the advantage while shooting. Things you should know: - When you start a rampage all other icons on the island disappear until the current one is over. - Once you pass a rampage both identical icons disappear forever. You cannot pass the same rampage twice. - If you fail a rampage you have to go to the other location and do that (identical) rampage. If you fail the second rampage the first one will reappear. Just keep alternating until you pass either one. Many are based on time spent at the GameFAQs GTAA message board. Some are original and offer insight that the tips section does not. Q: How do I get 100% completion? A: Complete all of the story, rampage, vigilante, firetruck, taxi, and paramedic missions; as well as the races on each island, demolition football, and collect all 100 packages. Basically, all of the worthwhile things on the Stats screen. Q: Why will a contractor's location (Vinnie, Jonnie, etc.) sometimes be pink? A: It's because they are a part of the mission objective at that time. In other words, you can't complete the mission without going back to them first. If you get busted or killed while their location is a pink dot you will fail the mission. When their location is a letter in a square box then you are not on a mission. Q: Is it possible to fly the airplanes? A: No. While it would be nice, you can't fly the planes at the airport. Q: Can pedestrians hurt each other? A: Yes. Civilians and law enforcement can hurt one another. Q: How can I play demolition football? A: First, complete six races on Portland. Then when you get to Staunton complete six more. Drive to the stadium on Staunton. Q: How do I get the tank? A: Get six stars on the third island. Then drive around a bit to find the tank. Q: Is there an F1 car in this game? A: Yes. One way to get it is beat all 18 races. Or if you're fast enough in 'Race to Run' King Courtney may let you drive it. Q: What's the best spot to get (fast) vehicles? A: Usually, parking lots are the best, but it also depends on the area. If you go out into the road and there's a bunch of slow vehicles, don't prance around looking for a better one. Instead, find a parking lot and look there. ############################################################################### 8.00 | GUIDE RELATED ############################################################################### History ------- 12/31/04 - 1.17 - All rampages added.
