Sulpher E-Mail: briansulpher@hotmail.com Version 1.4 Date Written: September 3, 2002 I dedicate this FAQ to me. Actually, once again I owe my cousin Kyle for his 76 in 1 cartridge, and all of the great games that were on it. I never would have played a classic such as this one without him having found that oh so awesome cart all those years ago at a flea market! If only I could get a hold of that cart again, as it held so many gems that were Japan only releases! Also, for Cougar. I miss you, and I hope you are living it up in the afterlife as you did in this world. You will always be in my memories, and you will never be forgotten. ----------- Version 1.0 ----------- -Submitted FAQ on September 3rd, 2002 ----------- Version 1.1 ----------- -Submitted FAQ on September 20th, 2003 -Updated format ----------- Version 1.2 ----------- -Submitted FAQ on July 30th, 2004 -Added an ASCII title -Updated format to makr it more pleasing to the eye and easier to read ----------- Version 1.3 ----------- -Submitted guide on March 24th, 2005 -I added in Honestgamers as a site allowed to use my FAQs -also did a bit of format alteration to the FAQ, making it look purty ----------- Version 1.4 ----------- -Submitted guide on June 22nd, 2005 -I added in Retronintendo as a site allowed to use my FAQs -Altered the format to make it easier on the eyes of the reader ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----------------------------Table Of Contents------------------------------ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1) Introduction 2) Controls 3) Enemies 4) Points 5) Level Maps 6) Final Word ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------Introduction--------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1) This is a strange, yet oh so fun puzzle game. You control two little penguin like characters, one is a female, one is a male. Your goal is to unite them in love at the top of the screen, where there caged heart sits awaiting there arrival. The path is not an easy one however, for you will face mazes, Spiders, and their craftily designed webs. Are you good enough to overcome the forces of evil, and to shine through with the power of compassion, goodness, and love? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------Controls------------------------------------ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) This section will review the controls for your two love sick penguins. D-Pad----> This is the only control function in the game that differs between the two penguins. The Male penguin moves in whichever direction you press on the Directional Pad. The Female penguin will move up and down when the corresponding direction is pressed, but she will move opposite of the LEFT/RIGHT direction pressed. This means she goes LEFT when RIGHT is pressed, and she goes RIGHT when LEFT is pressed. Read below to see how to change this. SELECT---> When you see the penguin at the start, pressing SELECT will flip between the two penguins. Whichever one you pick by pressing START will be the one with regular controls, and the other will be the one with the reversed sideways movements. START----> Pauses/unpauses the game. B Button-> This allows your penguin to emit a small beam of power that cuts through a Spider, or a Spider-Web with equal ease. A Button-> This allows your penguin to emit a small beam of power that cuts through a Spider, or a Spider-Web with equal ease. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------Enemies------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) This section will review the obstacles you face on your way to rejoining the love of your penguin life. o--------o | Spider | o--------o These guys move around the maze, trying to run into your penguin. If they do this, you will automatically be stopped in your quest to show that love will find a way (meaning you lose a life). o------------o | Spider-Web | o------------o These are stationary obstacles, and are not much of a threat. If a penguin touches one of these, they will become ensnared, and it is up to the other penguin to come rescue them with their beam weapon. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------Points------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) This section will look at the various points awarded in this game. Spider......: 200 points Spider-Web..: 100 points Level Finish: 100's digit of time remaining X 100 ie 643 time remaining means 6 X 100 = 600 Bonus Level.: One penguin is stuck in a web! Go collect all the hearts, release the penguin, and get united a the caged heart before time expires to win yourself a bonus of 50,000 points Fish........: This item will increase your walking speed, and it will make you invulnerable, so walk right through Spiders, and Spider-Webs alike. You will also recieve 800 points for collecting this "fishy" item, which is not too bad for a quick "snag". Playing Card: 5,000 points Harp........: 2,000 points Umbrella....: 1,000 points Heart.......: 800 points Cupcake.....: 500 points There are other items, and they all give a fair amount of points, but I will let you discover the rest. I have covered the main ones, as well as the useful point totallers. However, delving further into the game does give a player the potential chance to find new and exciting Items. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------Level Maps----------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) This section will give an outline of as many levels as possible. Please note that the Spider STARTING position is the one given, and they move freely around the playing field as soon as the timer begins to move. ____________ Map Key | | CH \Caged | CH /Heart | | SP \Spider | SP / | | WW \Spider- | WW /Web | | HH \Heart | HH /Piece | | CP \Caught | CP /Penguin | ____________| o---------o | Level 1 | o---------o xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx x CH x x CH x x xxxxxx xxxxxx xxxxxx xxxxx x xxxxxx xxxxxx xxxxxx xxxxx xxxxx xx xx xxxxxx xx xx x xxxxx xx xx xxxxxx xx xx x x WW xx SP x x WW xx SP x x xxxxxxxxxx xx xxxxxxxxxx x x xxxxxxxxxx xx xxxxxxxxxx x x xx WW x x xx WW x xxxxx xx xx xx xx xx xxxxx xxxxx xx xx xx xx xx xxxxx x xx x x xx x x xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx x x xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx x x xx x x xx x xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx o---------o | Level 2 | o---------o xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx x CH SP x x CH SP x x xx xx xxxxxxxxxx xx xx x x xx xx xxxxxxxxxx xx xx x x xx xx xx xx xxxxxxxxxx x x xx xx xx xx xxxxxxxxxx x xWW xx WWxx SPxx WWx xWW xx WWxx SPxx WWx x xxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xx xxxxx x xxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xx xxxxx x WW xxWW x x WW xxWW x xxxxx xxxxxx xx xxxxxxxxxx x xxxxx xxxxxx xx xxxxxxxxxx x xWW xx WW xx WW x xWW xx WW xx WW x x xx xx xx xxxxxx xx xxxxx x xx xx xx xxxxxx xx xxxxx x xx xx xx x xx xx xx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx o---------o | Level 3 | | (BONUS) | o---------o xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx x CH x x CH x x xx xx xxHHxx xx xx xx x x xx xx xxHHxx xx xx xx x x xx xx xx xx xx xx xx x x xx xx xx xx xx xx xx x xHH xxHH x xHH xxHH x x xx xx xx xx xx xx xx x x xx xx xx xx xx xx xx x x HHxx HHx x HHxx HHx x xx xx xx xx xx xx xx x x xx xx xx xx xx xx xx x xHH xx HH x xHH xx HH x x xx xx xx xx xx xx xx x x xx xx xx xx xx xx xx x x CPxx x x CPxx x xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx From this point on, the levels become randomized, so I can not offer any more help at this time. If I do figure out what determining factors are involved, I will let you know. My best guess right now is the amount of time remaining on the clock, but as of yet, I am still unsure. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------Final Word----------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6) As is the usual, this walkthrough is copyright property of Brian P. A fun game, but it is near impossible to enjoy without downloading. Despite that restriction, I advise you to try it out, because it can get challenging very quickly! Besides, are you not man/woman enough to go seek true love for the two little penguins!? Or, are you some heartless being, who just plays video games just for the sheer fun of destroying the challenges laid out by the programmers? Or, am I just talking out of my ass? Any of these could be potentially true, but why waste time arguing when you could be playing instead?
