After three years of retirement from FAQ writing (I'm most well known for my Legends FAQs), I've decided to take another crack at it with my series of NaviCustomizer (I call it NaviCust for short) Setup Guides. While there are plenty of guides that discuss how to build the best chip folders, there are none out there that go over how to build the best NaviCust Setups, until now. In this guide, I will show you how to build the best NaviCust Setups for many purposes and situations throught this game. I will start with some that I made myself which should get you through almost all your needs, but I also include a section of submitted NaviCust Setups sent in by other GameFAQs and MegaMan Network members (in those cases the comments section is by the creator of the Setup and not by me). ======================== B. NAVICUST SETUP BASICS ======================== 1. NaviCust Rules ================= Although the game itself covers these basics in the tutortial email you get with your NaviCust, here's a reminder of the basic rules to remember when designing your own NaviCust Setups. First off, here is what the NaviCust map looks like: No ExpMemories: One ExpMemory: Both ExpMemories: | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |=> | | | | | |=> | | | | | |=> | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | You start out with sixteen squares in your NaviCust, with four squares on the Command Line. After collecting one ExpMemory, the map increases to twenty squares with five squares on the Command Line, and with both ExpMemories, the map will have a full twenty-five squares just waiting to be filled with your favorite programs! Also as a reminder, be sure to remember the basic rules for NaviCust Setup building: 1. All solid color programs MUST be on the Command Line in order to function, even if you are using the BugStopper. 2. All textured color programs MUST NOT be on the Command Line, unless you are using the BugStopper. 3. You are only allowed to use up to FOUR different colors of programs at a time, unless you are using the BugStopper. These are the abbreviations for all the colors: P: Pink Y: Yellow W: White B: Blue R: Red G: Green *: Any color (for programs that come in more than one color) 4. Programs of the same color MUST NOT be allowed to touch one another, unless you are using the BugStopper. They can touch the corners, but not the sides. 5. All these NaviCust Setups assume that you have the full twenty-five square NaviCust map (although I also include the best way, IMO, to use a sixteen or twenty square NaviCust map), you have all the appopriate Spin Key Items (SpinPink, SpinYelo, SpinWhit, etc), and do NOT use any bugs unless otherwise stated (most common exception is placing the SneakRun or Collect program off the Command Line to attract more battles or get zenny instead of chips respectively). 6. I do NOT include any Setups made for NetBattling, nor do any include NetBattle-only programs (Rush/Beat/Tango) since I have no one available to NetBattle with. ALL these Setups were designed with the main single-player game in mind. 2. NaviCust Setup Sub-Themes ============================ Some of these NaviCust Setups include three sub-themes to reflect the three major styles of gameplay: a. MegaBuster Sub-Theme: This is for players who prefer to have as strong a Mega Buster as possible as well as for those who don't have the neccesary programs for the CustomMenu and Mega Chip sub-themes. b. CustomMenu Sub-Theme: If you like to have as many chips in the Custom Menu as possible, then this sub-theme is for you. c. Mega Chip Sub-Theme: Players who love to abuse Mega/Navi chips will probably take a liking to this sub-theme. 3. Complete List of Programs ============================ Here is a list of all 63 programs in this game (60 if you don't count the Rush/Tango/Beat programs, which are useless in the main single player game). There are no compression codes for this game. 01. SprArmr (Red) 02. Custom1 (Blue) 03. Custom1 (Blue) 04. Custom1 (Blue) 05. Custom2 (Yellow) 06. MegFldr1 (Green) 07. MegFldr1 (Green) 08. Sweet Sixteen ================= |1|1|5|3| Buster |1|1|1|3| Atk: 5 |1|1|1|2|=> Spd: 5 |4| | |2| Chg: 5 1. BustPack (R) 2. UnderSht (W) 3. Attack+1 (P) 4. Speed+1 (W) 5. Charge+1 (Y) COMMENTS: This is the best NaviCust Setup to use starting out. This gives you a maxed out buster and will protect you from a fatal hit as long as your HP is 2 or greater. 02. Plenty in Twenty ==================== |1|1|3|3|2| Buster |1|1|1|2|2| Atk: 5 |1|1|1|2|2|=> Spd: 5 |4| | |2|5| Chg: 5 1. BustPack (R) 2. Collect (W) 3. Attack+1 (P) 4. Speed+1 (W) 5. Charge+1 (Y) (need SpinPink for this one) COMMENTS: This is the best NaviCust Setup to use after getting the first ExpMemory. Not only will you have a maxed out MegaBuster, but you are also guaranteed a chip after every battle with the Collect program (which should be the very first BugFrag item you buy). This is especially important as it makes getting all the chips and program advances much, much easier. 03. Chip Lovers =============== MegaBuster Sub-Themed: CustomMenu Sub-Themed: Mega Chip Sub-Themed: ---------------------- ---------------------- --------------------- |7|7|7|4|5| Buster |5|3|8|2|9| Buster |6|7|3|9|5| Buster |3|7|7|4|2| ------ |3|3|2|2|2| ------ |6|3|3|8|5| ------ |3|1|1|2|2|=> Atk: 5 |3|3|1|1|2|=> Atk: 2 |2|3|3|1|1|=> Atk: 4 |1|1|1|2|2| Spd: 5 |3|1|1|1|4| Spd: 2 |2|3|4|1|1| Spd: 1 |1|1|1|2|6| Chg: 5 |6|1|1|7|4| Chg: 5 |2|2|4|1|1| Chg: 4 1. Charge+1 (Y) COMMENTS: Although this is similar to the Plenty in Twenty Setup, this takes full advantage of the twenty-five square map and allows use of the UnderSht that you could not fit in the twenty square map without the SpinRed (which you do not receive until Level 2). By placing the SneakRun off the Command Line in the MegaBuster sub-themed Setup, you will attract more battles making collecting chips even faster. This is perfect for players who love abusing chip traders. You can of course, omit the SneakRun program if you prefer not having so many battles. 04. Zenny Lovers ================ MegaBuster Sub-Themed: CustomMenu Sub-Themed: Mega Chip Sub-Themed: ---------------------- ---------------------- --------------------- |4|2|2|2|6| Buster |4|3|3|3|5| Buster |7|4|4|4|8| Buster |4|5|2|2|2| ------ |4|7|3|3|3| ------ |3|3|4|4|4| ------ |3|3|1|1|1|=> Atk: 5 | |2|2|1|1|=> Atk: 2 |2|3|5|1|1|=> Atk: 2 |7|7|1|1|1| Spd: 5 |2|2|1|1|1| Spd: 1 |2|3|6|1|1| Spd: 1 |7|7|7|1|1| Chg: 5 |8|2|1|1|6| Chg: 5 |2|2|6|1|1| Chg: 3 1. Speed+1 (Y) 5. Charge+1 (P) 5. BugStop (W) 6. Charge+1 (Y) 6. Charge+1 (P) 6. Attack+1 (*) 7. SneakRun (Y) 7. Charge+1 (W) 7. Charge+1 (*) 8. Charge+1 (Y) 8. Charge+1 (*) COMMENTS: Have you earned your Standard Chip badge, gotten all the program advances you can, and now need tons of zenny to buy up all the HP Memories and other goodies? Then this Setup is for you! By placing the Collect program off the Command Line, you're guaranteed to get zenny (or occassionally, a HP recovery) instead of a chip after every battle. This is especially useful in ACDC1 (Red Sun) or ACDC2 (Blue Moon) where if you win a battle with a BGMD, you have a 2/3 chance of getting either 2000z or a BugFrag (you can never have too many of those). 05. Custom Menu Lovers ====================== |8|4|4|2|9| Buster |7|7|2|2|2| ------ |3|3|1|1|2|=> Atk: 5 |6|6|1|1|1| Spd: 1 |0|5|5|1|1| Chg: 4 1. Custom+2 (Y) 2. Custom+1 (B) 3. UnderSht (W) 4. Attack+1 (W) 5. Attack+1 (W) 6. Attack+1 (P) 7. Attack+1 (Y) 8. Charge+1 (P) 9. Charge+1 (P) 0. Charge+1 (Y) COMMENTS: This Setup will give you a full EIGHT chips to choose from in the Custom Menu instead of the standard five. Unfortunately, even though there are two additional Custom+1 programs available, it is still not possible to have more than eight chips in the Custom Menu (except for the Number Soul in Blue Moon, which gives you ten). 06. Mega Chip Lovers ==================== |5|7|6|6|9| Buster |5|7|3|3|0| ------ |1|1|2|3|4|=> Atk: 5 |1|1|2|3|8| Spd: 1 |1|1|2|2|8| Chg: 3 1. MegFldr2 (G) 2. MegFldr1 (G) 3. MegFldr1 (G) 4. BugStop (W) 5. Attack+1 (W) 6. Attack+1 (W) 7. Attack+1 (P) 8. Attack+1 (Y) 9. Charge+1 (P) 0. Charge+1 (Y) COMMENTS: Are you the kind of player that just loves to have as many Mega/Navi chips as possible? Then this Setup will allow you to have up to NINE (yes, NINE) Mega/Navi chips in your folder. You could also add another MegFldr1 program in place of the BugStopper and have TEN Mega/Navi chips in your folder, if you don't mind bleeding away HP very fast at the Custom Menu... >_< 07. Custom/Mega Combo ===================== |4|4|6|2|8| Buster |5|5|2|2|2| ------ |3|3|1|1|2|=> Atk: 3 |3|3|1|1|1| Spd: 1 |3|3|7|1|1| Chg: 4 1. Custom+2 (Y) 2. Custom+1 (B) 3. MegFldr2 (G) 4. Attack+1 (Y) 5. Attack+1 (W) 6. Charge+1 (W) 7. Charge+1 (W) 8. Charge+1 (Y) COMMENTS: Can't decide whether you want more chips in the Custom Menu or more Mega/Navi chips? Then give this Setup a try. It gives you a choice of eight chips in the Custom Menu and seven Mega/Navichips in your folder. The only catch is that you'll have to make a small sacrifice in the MegaBuster department. Overall though, this is a very balanced Setup. 08. Giga Chip Lovers ==================== MegaBuster Sub-Themed: CustomMenu Sub-Themed: Mega Chip Sub-Themed: ---------------------- ---------------------- --------------------- |4| |2|2|2| Buster |5|3|8|6|4| Buster |6|4|4|2|2| Buster | |5|2|2|2| ------ |5|3|2|2|4| ------ |1|1|7|2|2| ------ |1|1| |2|2|=> Atk: 5 |1|1|2|2|2|=> Atk: 4 |1|1|1|2|2|=> Atk: 4 |1|1|1| |3| Spd: 5 |1|1|1|2|2|=> Atk: 4 |1|1|1|1|5| Spd: 3 |1|1|1|1|3| Chg: 5 |1|1|1|1|7| Chg: 4 |3|3|9|8|5| Chg: 3 1. HP Lovers ============= |1|1|1|3|3| Buster |1|1|1|1|3| ------ |4|4| |5|3|=> Atk: 1 |2|2|2|3|3| Spd: 1 |2|2|2|2| | Chg: 1 1. HP+500 (P) 2. HP+500 (W) 3. HP+400 (*) 4. HP+50 (*) 5. BugStop (W) COMMENTS: Although this is probably the most one-sided of all the Setups (minimal MegaBuster, Custom Menu, and Mega/Navi chip capacity), you do get the most extra HP possible (1450 HP). With all the HP Memories, it is possible to have up to 2450 HP! 12. Defense, Defense, Defense! ============================== MegaBuster Sub-Themed: CustomMenu Sub-Themed: Mega Chip Sub-Themed: ---------------------- ---------------------- --------------------- |5|5|9|6|6| Buster |4|4|3|3|5| Buster |6|3|3|4|4| Buster |8|1|1|1|1| ------ |1|3|3|3|5| ------ |1|3|3|5|5| ------ |3|1|2|2| |=> Atk: 5 |1|3|3|2|2|=> Atk: 3 |1|3|3|2|2|=> Atk: 3 |3|1|1|2|4| Spd: 1 |1|6|1|2|7| Spd: 1 |1|8|1|2|7| Spd: 1 |7|7|2|2|4| Chg: 3 |1|1|1|2|2| Chg: 3 |1|1|1|2|2| Chg: 4 1. Attack+1 (W) 5. Attack+1 (P) 5. Attack+1 (P) 6. Attack+1 (W) 6. Charge+1 (P or W) 6. Charge+1 (P) 7. Attack+1 (Y) 7. Charge+1 (P or Y) 7. Charge+1 (P) 8. Charge+1 (P) 8. Charge+1 (W) 9. Charge+1 (P) COMMENTS: This is the ultimate defensive Setup. You get a Barrier to start with every battle, plus you essentially get unlimited Guard ability with the Reflect program. If you do not have the Reflect program or would just rather have a stronger MegaBuster, then replace Reflect with the Shield program (between the UnderSht and FstBarrier programs) instead. 13. BodyPack Plus ================= |2|3|3|6|4| Buster |2|1|1|1|4| ------ |1|1|1|1| |=> Atk: 5 |1|1|1|1|5| Spd: 1 |1|1|1|7|5| Chg: 3 1. BodyPack (B) 2. Attack+1 (P) 3. Attack+1 (Y) 4. Attack+1 (W) 5. Attack+1 (W) 6. Charge+1 (P) 7. Charge+1 (P) COMMENTS: Think the BodyPack is too big to be useful? Think again! With this Setup, you have AirShoes, FlotShoes, SprArmr, UnderSht, and a pretty decent MegaBuster in one neat little package! 14. HubBatc Plus ================ |2|7|1|4|3| Buster |2|1|1|1|3| ------ |1|1|1|1|1|=> Atk: 3 |5|1|1|1| | Spd: 4 |6|8|1|0|9| Chg: 5 1. HubBatc (W) 2. Attack+1 (P) 3. Attack+1 (Y) 4. Charge+1 (P) 5. Charge+1 (P) 6. Charge+1 (W) 7. Charge+1 (Y) 8. Speed+1 (P) 9. Speed+1 (W) 0. Speed+1 (Y) COMMENTS: Think the HubBatc is too big to be useful? Think again! Although the HubBatc does take up a huge chunk of space, you can still fill in enough MegaBuster programs to give yourself an good MegaBuster. If you'd rather have more max HP, you can substitute HP+50 or HP+100 programs that are any color except white. Unfortunately, that's about it as far as options for programs to go with HubBatc are concerned. But who cares when the HubBatc gives you everything the BodyPack does (AirShoes, FlotShoes, SprArmor, UnderSht) PLUS Barrier, Custom1, MegFldr1, and an armor piercing MegaBuster! The downside? You can't get the HubBatc until near the very end of the game and it cuts your max HP in half. Bummer. 15. Elemental Virus Hunter ========================== MegaBuster Sub-Themed: CustomMenu Sub-Themed: Mega Chip Sub-Themed: ---------------------- ---------------------- --------------------- |A|2|4|5|5| Buster |2|2|7|5|6| Buster |5|2|2|6|7| Buster |2|2|4|7|7| ------ |2|2|2|5|6| ------ |5|2|2|6|7| ------ |2|2|1|3|3|=> Atk: 5 |1|2|2|3|4|=> Atk: 3 |1|2|2|3|4|=> Atk: 4 |2|8|1|1|1| Spd: 1 |1|1|1|3|3| Spd: 1 |1|1|1|3|8| Spd: 1 |9|0|1|6|6| Chg: 5 |1|8|3|3|9| Chg: 4 |1|9|0|3|3| Chg: 4 1. Charge+1 (P) 9. Charge+1 (*) 9. Charge+1 (*) 0. Charge+1 (W) 0. Charge+1 (*) A. Charge+1 (Y) COMMENTS: Looking for viruses of a particular element? Then try this Setup. Here you can place any of the four elemental virus programs without worrying about any bugs. Use Oilbody for Heat viruses, Fish for Aqua viruses, Battery for Elec viruses, or Jungle for Wood viruses. The Collect program is also included in the MegaBuster Sub-Theme because why else would you want viruses of a particular element other than to get their chips? 16. Navi Hunter =============== |1|1|8|5|6| Buster |1|1|1|5|6| ------ |3|1|1|2|4|=> Atk: 4 |3|3|2|2|2| Spd: 1 |3|7|7|9|2| Chg: 3 1. Custom+2 (Y) 2. Custom+1 (B) 3. SprArmr (R) 4. BugStop (W) 5. Attack+1 (*) 6. Attack+1 (*) 7. Attack+1 (*) 8. Charge+1 (*) 9. Charge+1 (*) COMMENTS: The SprArmr is the most important piece of this puzzle, as it allows you to get hit by the enemy without losing any Busting Level points. Now all you have to do is beat the Navi in less than 30 seconds, and the S rank and SP chip are yours! Having a full eight chips to choose from in the Custom Menu and a moderately powered MegaBuster will help too. (this Setup was inspired by WarGreymon_2's Simply Done Setup) 17. Duo/LaserMan SP =================== |4|4|2|2|9| Buster |1|2|2|2|8| ------ |1|2|2|3|3|=> Atk: 4 |1|1|1|1|5| Spd: 1 |1|6|6|7|5| Chg: 4 1. Airshoes (B) 2. Custom2 (Y) 3. UnderSht (W) 4. Attack+1 (P) 5. Attack+1 (Y) 6. Attack+1 (W) 7. Charge+1 (P) 8. Charge+1 (P) 9. Charge+1 (W) COMMENTS: This is your best Setup bet for taking on either Duo (final boss) or LaserMan SP (one of the guardians of GigaChip #4). The Airshoes are absoultely essential for having free moment on all the broken panels, plus you have seven chips in your Custom Menu, UnderSht protection, and your MegaBuster Attack and Charge ratings are maxed out. Just don't let LaserMan's huge blue laser take all these goodies away from you... >_< 18. Bass SP Hunter ================== |3|3|3|3|5| Buster |4|3|3|3|2| ------ |4|1|1|2|2|=> Atk: 5 |1|1|1|2|2| Spd: 4 |1|1|1|2|6| Chg: 4 1. BustPack (R) 2. Collect (W) 3. HP+500 (P) 4. UnderSht (W) 5. Charge+1 (Y) 6. Speed+1 (P or Y) COMMENTS: For taking on Bass SP (the final secret boss), the most important program to have is the Collect program. This way, you automatically get GigaChip#5 after winning (otherwise, you must S-rank him, which is next to impossible). And of course, an extra 500 HP against Bass SP's 3000 HP will certainly come in handy too. Remember, with the Collect program installed, you do NOT have to S-rank Bass SP. Just survive. (this Setup was inspired by WarGreymon_2's Simply Done Setup) ==================================== D. NAVICUST SETUPS CREATED BY OTHERS ==================================== If you'd like to add to this list, be sure to include your Setup's name, all the programs used and where (don't forget to include the color of the programs!), and what and where the Setup is most useful. You will of course, receive full and proper credit for your Setup, which by default will be your GameFAQs name, but you can request to use your email address or real first name if you prefer. 01. Simply Done by WarGreymon_2 =============================== |1|1|9|8|5| Buster |1|1|1|4|5| ------ |2|1|1|4|3|=> Atk: 2 |2|2|2|3|3| Spd: 2 |6|2|7|3|3| Chg: 4 1. Custom+2 (Y) 2. Custom+1 (B) 3. SneakRun (Y) 4. UnderSht (W) 5. Attack+1 (P) 6. Charge+1 (P) 7. Charge+1 (P) 8. Charge+1 (Y) 9. Speed+1 (P) COMMENTS: The point of this Set Up is very simple. It is IMO the basic stuff you will need when completing the game. The virus come up way too much IMO, so sneak run is there. Custom+1 and Custom+2 will let you use your Folders better. Finally, UnderSht keeps you safe and of course bug stop stops bugs. 02. Stone Gunner by Ultimasaber =============================== |1|3|3|3|3| Buster |1|1|3|3|3| ------ |1|4|2|2|2|=> Atk: 2 |7|4|2|2|2| Spd: 2 |6|5|5|2|2| Chg: 2 1. SuperAmr (R) 2. BustPack (R) 3. HP+500 (P) 4. UnderSht (W) 5. Attack+1 (P) 6. Speed+1 (W) 7. Charge+1 (P) Here's my favorite. I call it the Stone Gunner because of SuperAmr and the Max Buster abilities. How good is it? It's good for S-Ranking. 03. Varia Suit by Ryudo ======================= |1| | | | | Buster |1|1| | | | ------ |1|3|3|2| |=> Atk: 1 |3|3|3|2|2| Spd: 1 |3|3|2|2|4| Chg: 2 1. SprArmr (R) 2. Custom2 (B) 3. Custom1 (Y) 4. Charge+1 (W) COMMENTS: Those who know not where I got the name should hang their heads in shame. While you don't have to worry about running around in extreme cold or heat, this setup gives you the three biggest Customizer abilities in this game: Custom1, Custom2 and Super Armour. Be it simple Virus Busting or Navi Slaying, these three blocks alone give you plenty of support for any chip loving Netbattler. Now you ask, what's with big leftover space? Well that's where the term "Varia" comes in as the 5th Navicustomizer Block can be one of many things, depending on the situation. Undershirt if you need a little extra defense and Buster Blocks in case you like to fire the buster alot along with chips or lastly, HP+500 for that extra buffer of defense. That said, this setup's versatility is what makes it my most used. Each one of the optional parts has a use, although I seldom use the Buster enhancements (this changes in 5 and 6 however). Combined with the Custom blocks and SuperArmour, no Virus, Navi or even Duo should be able to take you down. ================= E. SPECIAL THANKS ================= 1.
