Introduction (Intrd) Welcome to my Virus guide for Megaman Battle Network 4. This guide should give you all the information you'll need on the game's viruses. If it doesn't cover anything essential or gives misinformation, I can improve it with your help! Please E-mail me any comments or suggestions you have for my guide at dpitch40@yahoo.com. If you e-mail me, please put "MMBN4" somewhere in the e- mail title or it will likely be deleted. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3. FAQ (Frakq) Q: How do I use Slasher? A: If you hold A when using it, Megaman will automatically attack the next enemy to enter his area for 240 damage, regardless of position. Haha, take that, stupid Molokos! Q: Why don't the viruses in the isolated yellow-and-green tiled areas get stronger in Hard/Super Hard mode? A: That's just the way they are. It's actually pretty useful for getting first- version chips on higher difficulty levels. Q: My question isn't answered in here! A: E-mail me at dpitch40@yahoo.com or post your question on the GameFAQs message boards. If you e-mail me, please put "MMBN4" somewhere in the e-mail title or it will likely be deleted. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 4. The Viruses (Thvir) Now, onto the bulk of the FAQ: the virus descriptions. BILLY Billies are annoying Viruses resembling little versions of SparkMan. Their main attack is to fire a slow-moving homing spark. It lasts for quite a while, and will change direction to hit Megaman until it dissipates. It can travel over holes, but not through obstacles. It speeds up with higher versions of Billies. The spark isn't too hard to dodge on its own, but it makes dodging other attacks much harder. Even worse, it stuns Megaman when it hits him, leaving him open to more attacks! Whenever fighting these Viruses, make taking them out your first priority. They begin each battle waiting in the back column, then create a massive bomb and push it forward. If they get it into Megaman's area, it explodes, damaging all his panels! You can stop the bomb's progress by rapidly shooting it with your Buster, but only chips can destroy it, and this only makes the BomBoy teleport to the back row and start again. I'd recommend running from battles with them after you have their chips, but if you have to fight them, make sure to use chips that can hit them but not their bombs! FlmLine chips work well for this. You can also hit them in the back row with Lance or ThunderMan. Finally, a TrplCrak can block their progress and keep you safe for a while. They move up and down a column (most often the back one) and stop when they reach the top of bottom row to fire a boomerang that encircles the outer panels and leaves only Megaman's center and center-right panels safe. Also, their fronts are armored, so they are only vulnerable to most attacks after they fire their boomerangs. Except for regular Boomers, they will start coming after Megaman after he has deleted all the other Viruses, following Megaman and firing boomerangs in a straight line at him when they're in his row. They can also grab Megaman's center-front panel to reduce his running room. They will circle around their area, firing slow-moving, heavily damaging cannon shots at Megaman whenever they're in the same row without stopping. This means that there will often be several shots moving towards you at once, making them extremely tough to dodge. If you're fighting these guys (it's a good idea to run, though), I'd recommend using an Invis chip so you can attack them without getting hit repeatedly. It's extremely hard to tell where their shots are going to go, but I have a trick that makes it easy. Whenever the Dharma pauses meaning it's about to attack, pause the game with Start. You then have plenty of time to look and see where their pucks will go. (they move diagonally) Once you get used to dodging their shots, Dharmas are pretty easy Viruses. They gain a regenerative aura when they do, and attack with en elemental flare that changes the panel they hit to the same type as the one they're on. Luckily, they can only do this to the row they're on, which makes the attack pretty easy to dodge. Still, they can still make your life miserable if you don't have FloatShoes installed. Like I said before, they also rapidly regenerate HP is they're on a non-normal panel, so damage them quickly! Like Elemperors, they can still be dangerous even though they're stationary. Also like Elemperors, FloatShoes are a very good idea for fighting them. These burly hammer-wielders are invincible when they're grey, and only assume their normal colors and become vulnerable just before attacking. They can't actually hit you with their hammers unless they're in the front row, but the impact also cracks some panels on your side of the field and causes rubble to fall. Watch out for the shadows, as usual, and you'll be fine. The bigger danger are the cracked panels, which can make it much harder to dodge. AirShoes and/or FloatShoes are good ideas for fighting them. Actually, they're good ideas for just about anywhere. If you can create a hole right in front of them, their hammers won't work. If they prepare to attack, move left or right. If you bother to put one is, a Slasher Chip can badly hurt them. They won't attack Megaman if he's in his top row. Because of they're style of movement, it's easy to hit them with a damaging FlmLine chip. Okay, okay, that was horrible... Anyway, they attack by dragging Megaman to the rightmost panel of his row and zapping him with electricity using their magnets. If you have a Barrier up (the FstBarrier NCP works well, especially with HubBatch), they can't pull you around, making you invincible to their attacks unless you're in the front row. The panel they're about to attack turns yellow, so as long as you keep moving and don't retrace your steps, they aren't too hard to dodge. Their main purpose is to make it harder for you to dodge other Virus' attacks. As you might have guessed, they're invincible while in the air. Luckily, they're also some of the easiest, and don't present much of a threat. They are extremely simple-minded, moving up and down to stay in the same row as Megaman and using their pickaxes to fire shockwaves at Megaman when he stays in their row too long. The shockwaves are stopped by holes, as are the Mettaurs themselves. They move faster in higher difficulty levels. The waves can move through obstacles, however. V2 and higher Mettaurs can also shield themselves with their helmets; only one is vulnerable at a time and they switch off after each one attacks. They can also use Invis chips. They continually charge from right to left, never pausing to stop unless they run into a hole or an obstacle. They are also protected by their wool. You need to forcibly shear them before you can do damage. Unfortunately, they regenerate their wool every time they reappear on their side after charging through Megaman's row, and it takes more hits to get rid of it with each new version of them. Their attack is very simple to dodge, but they're almost impossible to damage. I'd recommend avoiding battle with them if you can. Like with NavShados, it's best to just run from then unless you use a Sword folder. V1-NavBlack: 250 HP, 100 Attack [Normal Locations] Black Earth 2 NAVSHADO These shadowy enemies aren't actually Viruses, but tainted Navis that have been dragged into the darkness of Murkland, AKA Black Earth. They have powers that Dark Megaman never dreamed of, however. No attack, even piercing ones like GunSol chips, can damage these dark Navis except for Sword chips. (they also take damage from swamp panels) Since there is no point to fighting them, I always just run from any battle containing them. They fight much like regular Navis, using slow-moving Cannon shots or Swords to hit Megaman. V1-NavBlack: 200 HP, 100 Attack [Normal Locations] Black Earth 1 Black Earth 2 SHRIMPY Shrimpies are pretty basic Aqua Viruses that have been around for a while. They have a simple movement pattern, and they unpredictably stop to fire bubbles that bounce along a single row. They're stopped by obstacles and holes, and when they hit something they explode in different patterns corresponding to their level. The bubbles travel faster with higher levels of Shrimpies, like most projectiles. Since you never know when they're going to attack, higher- level Shrimpies can be very hard to dodge. MuteAnts prevent Megaman from seeing any enemies, but you should still have a rough idea of where they area. You can also still see their attacks. Xyloses are incredibly annoying. WALLA Wallas are stationary Viruses that mainly serve to keep you from dodging other attacks. If you pass through their row, they create two indestructible fangs on it and the one above (below if they're sitting on the top row), then fire them one after the other. To avoid damage, simply stay out of their row or go between the gaps in the fangs. The projectiles can block attacks, so try to hit them without entering their row. They can use Blinder Chips, but since they can't move, this doesn't really matter. WEATHER Weather Viruses are strange puppets that hang from strings, lowering themselves onto random panels. Obviously, they're invincible in the air. They sometimes lower into their front row and attack with elemental breath that hit the panel in front of them and the column after that. It also changes the conditions of the affected panels. Fire breath turns the to lava, ice breath to ice, wood breath grows grass, and electric breath cracks the panels. They can't hit you if you're in the back column, but they can be deadly in combination with other Viruses if you don't have FloatShoes.
