Pre-credits Walkthrough**************************PMD4********************* O===========================================================================O | Section I - Tiny Woods **PMD41** | O===========================================================================O After starting a new game, you will be given a personality quiz. For those who played PMD2, it functions similarly. You'll be given questions that determine who you have as a starter, and as a partner. There's a walkthrough or two on GameFAQs about this part of the game. Then again, if you don't want specific Pokémon, just go along with the quiz. It also seems to be a staple of these games (for PMD2, anyhow) to put team info. So, here you go. Team Name: Team Superior. (Yeah, not original, sue me.) Pokémon : Pikachu (me), Treecko (partner). Game(s) : Red Rescue Team. After quiz, the first section begins! ... You'll awaken in the woods, beside the partner Pokémon chosen earlier. The conversation soons comes around to the fact that you are human ... or so you thought! It seems that you are completely normal Pokémon! You also seem to lack memory of being human (except that you were human), except for your name. Input it. Soon, a Butterfree approaches. Her poor Caterpie has fallen into a open fissure, and needs your help. So, get to it! O--------------O-------------O | Tiny Woods | Floors: 3 | O--------------O-------------O | Main Type: Grass | O----------------------------O First, about the game. This game has randomized dungeons, like Dark Cloud. They are randomized, except the Pokémon's species/levels. I cannot give you much info except the Pokémon species and GUESSES at the weaknesses. So, here we go. Pidgey is a Normal/Flying type. It is weak to Rock, Ice, and Electric. It takes little damage from Ghost and Ground. It is advantageous over Grass, Bug, and Fighting types. Sunkern is a Grass type. It is weak to Fire, Flying, Ice, Poison, and Bug. It is advantageous over Rock, Water, and Ground. Wurmple is a Bug type. It's weak to Fire, Flying, and Rock. It is advantageous over Grass, Dark, and Psychic. Exeggcute is a Grass/Psychic type. It is weak to Fire, Flying, Bug (4x), Ice, Poison, Dark, and Ghost. It is advantageous over Rock, Water, Ground, Fighting, and Poison. On the fourth floor, you'll find Caterpie. You'll take him outside of the dungeon to his mother (I assume). Butterfree thanks you by giving you some berries (Pecha, Oran, Rawst). After you get over the fact that Caterpie practically worships you, your partner asks what you'll do now. You have no idea how you got here, who else is here, or what to do here. Your partner will ask if you'll stay with him. Your partner will explain that natural disasters have been terrorizing Pokémon globally, and he wishes to help them by forming a rescue team with you. So, input a name for the team. After a quick monologue, you'll wake up the next morning to find you're still a Pokémon! After wondering why, go onto your bed and save. After regaining control of yourself, go outside. You'll find your partner sleeping outside. *scratches head* Oooookaaayyyy... He'll, upon awaking, will speak of the fact that you haven't had a rescue job yet. Then he'll remember about the mailbox. Inside, you will find a Rescue Team Start Set - it contains the Rescue Team Badge, a Toolbox (for holding more items), and an issue of Pokémon/PKMN news. Your partner explains these things. It turns out you STILL don't have a job. However, Pelipper (the postal service) will put some more mail into the mailbox. Inside is a letter from Magnemite, who needs to rescue his stuck-together friends in Thunderwave Cave. Accept the mission to go there. O===========================================================================O | Section II - Thunderwave Cave **PMD42** | O===========================================================================O After accepting the rescue request from Magnemite, you'll be teleported to Thunderwave Cave. The Magnemite in trouble are on B6F. O--------------------O-------------O | Thunderwave Cave | Floors: 5 | O--------------------O-------------O | Main Type: Electric | O--------------------O-------------O Rattata is a Normal type. It is weak to Fighting; advantageous over nothing; and takes little damage from Ghost. Nidoran is a Poison type. It is weak to Psychic and Ground. It is advantageous over Grass. Poochyena is a Dark type. It is weak to Fighting and Bug; advantageous over Psychic and Ghost; and takes little damage from Psychic. Voltorb, Elekid, Plusle, and Minun are Electric types. They are weak to Ground and advantageous over Flying and Water. (Plusle is Red Rescue Team only; Minun is Blue Rescue Team only.) After beating B5F, you'll find the stuck-together Magnemite. Once outside, you will be given 500 Poké (the currency of this game), a Rawst Berry (heals burn status), and a Reviver Seed (auto-reviver). Back at the team base, your partner will admit that he was nervoud about your first mission, and is happy it went well. Anyhow, save the game. During the night, you'll have a dream. There, you'll recognize someone, but can't recognize them (amensia, remember?). In the morning, you'll forgot what it was all about. Next, outside, you'll be allowed to see the town, Pokémon Square. In the northwest corner, you can buy items (green Kecleon) and TMs/Orbs (purple Kecleon). In the northeastern corner, you can store Poké (Persian) and buy friend areas for getting team members (Wigglytuff). In the southwest corner is Kangaskhan, who will store items. Gulpin in the southeast can link and remember moves for you. To the south of here is the Makuhita Dojo, the Wishcash pond is to the north, and the Pelipper Post Office is to the east. At the Post Office, you'll be given another explanation about it. Basically, here, you can pick up missions. Now, you'll have to do two "filler days". Throughout the course of the game, there will be days where you do just jobs and there rarely is any plot stuff; these are filler days. I cannot cover these because there is a near-infinite number of possibilities for filler day stuff. So just do some jobs for two in-game days. To do a job, go south of the team base and select the dungeon. You can do multiple jobs in a single trip, as long as they are on different floors. After the two days, you'll have a dream. This time, you notice the presence from earlier is a Pokémon, and it is talking to you. You can't hear it clearly, though. Soon, the place begins to shake, and you wake up. Outside, a Dugtrio will surface and tell you that, during the quake the previous night, its child was attack and flown to a tall mountain by a Scarmory. This mountain is Mt. Steel. Do some prep work (like buy Apples) and go to the dungeon. O===========================================================================O | Section III - Mt. Steel **PMD43** | O===========================================================================O After the quake and being told to rescue Dugtrio's child from atop Mt. Steel, make some preparations (ie. buy Apples), then head to Mt. Steel. O-------------O-------------O | Mt. Steel | Floors: 8 | O-------------O-------------O | Main Type: Various | O---------------------------O Spearow is a Normal/Flying type. It is weak to Rock, Ice, and Electric; is advantageous over Grass, Fighting, and Bug; and takes little damage from Ghost and Ground. Baltoy is a Ground/Psychic type. It is weak to Ice, Grass, Water, Bug, Ghost, and Dark; is advantageous over Fire, Rock, Steel, Poison, Ground, and Electric; and takes little damage from Electric. Zigzagoon is a Normal type. It is weak to Fighting; advantageous over none; and takes little damage from Ghost. Aron is a Steel/Rock type. It is weak to Fighting (4x), Ground (4x), and Water; is advantageous over Rock, Ice, Bug, Fire, and Flying; and takes little damage from Poison. Geodude is a Rock/Ground type. It is weak to Fighting, Grass (4x), Water (4x), Ground, Steel, and Ice; advantageous over Fire, Flying, Ice, Bug, Rock, Poison, Electric, and Steel; and take little damage from Electric. Tyrogue is a Fighting type. It is weak to Flying and Psychic. It is advantageous over Rock, Steel, Ice, Dark, and Normal. Meditite is a Fighting/Psychic type. It is weak to Flying, Dark, Bug, and Ghost. It is advantageous over Rock, Ice, Steel, Normal, Dark, Fighting, and Poison. Beldum is a Steel/Psychic type. It is weak to Fire and Ground; advantageous over Rock, Ice, Fighting, and Poison; and takes little damage from Poison. Pinsir is a Bug type. It's weak to Fire, Flying, and Rock. It is advantageous over Grass, Dark, and Psychic. After beating B8F, you'll find Diglett atop a pillar. Between it and you is a large, deep chasm. Skarmory soon arrives, blaming Diglett and all others of its species and evolutionary chain for the many earthquake. Skarmory will refuse to listen to use and you'll be forced to fight. ============== BOSS: Skarmory ============== Skarmory is Steel/Flying. It is weak to Fire and Electric; advantageous over Rock, Ice, Bug, Grass, and Fighting; and takes little damage from Poison and Ground. All types (except Fire (2x), Electric (2x), and Water (1x)) will do less than the normal damage. At the start, your opponent is farther away. Begin by throwing Gravelerocks if possible, or using stat-reducing/two-space moves like Growl and Quick Attack. Once he gets close, begin to use your most powerful move. Don't be afraid to heal, especially if you have a type disadvantage. After the battle, you'll end up rescuing Diglett and will return to town. There, Diglett says that his feet feel like they're still walking on air. O_o Dugtrio soon arrives, giving you a Pecha Scarf (prevents Poison), a Ginseng (powers up a move), and 500 Poké. The Magnemite will also leave. Before doing so, though, they'll see if they can join the team. However, you lack a place nearby where they can be easily called, so you'll have to deal with that. You are then told by your partner that the Wigglytuff Club opens tomorrow. Later that night, you'll have another dream like you've been having. Again, the familiar Pokémon (that's what it is, and it's a Gardevoir). You'll be able to hear slightly better, but not much. Once you wake up, leave and you'll find your partner. You'll tell him about the dreams you've been having. Your partner then believes that these have some connection about your being originally a human and how to return to that form. He then tentatively asks about whether you even want to become a human. After this, go east into the Square. Continue east, past the intersection and Felicity Bank to find Wigglytuff. After a bit, you'll be given three friend areas: the Power Plant, Wild Plains, and Mist-Rise Forest. Soon after, Magnemite arrives and can now join your team. Wigglytuff then tells you that you can get more Pokémon by getting more Friend Areas; to recruit Pokémon, you have to bear the living crap out of them and they'll decide to join. O_o Return towards the team base. As you do, you'll find a rescue team (led by a Shiftry), refusing to help out Jumpluff's friend. Shiftry is the prime choice for this, as the Jumpluff's friend is stuck, but it is able to fly if a good gust blows, which Shiftry can provide. However, he won't do it unless he gets paid more. Alakazam's rescue team (Team ACT) soon shows up. They are of the Gold Rank, and therefore demand some repsect among rescue teams. They quickly convince Shiftry into rescuing the Jumpluff, amazing everyone with Alakazam and his convincing abilities. As he passes by you, he stops and looks at you, before heading on. Your partner will encourage you to be like them, just like he wants to be. Southward, a Gengar behind a tree mutters "Not if I can help it.", then walks off. The next morning begins a series of next filler days. After this, on the next morning, you'll find your partner waiting for you, as well as Team Meanies (a Gengar, a Medicham, and an Ekans). They soon empty your mailbox of any rescue offers. They then let slip that they are under the guide of a rescue team so they can get away with much more: more cash, adding members to the team, and, eventually, global control. *scoffs* Anyhow, Pelipper will come by soon after they leave, giving you some mail. Finish off this filler day. The next day, you'll find Caterpie outside your house. It seems that his friend, Metapod, has gotten lost in the woods and hasn't returned. Team Meanies comes by and promises Caterpie that his friend will be rescued by them, and, as a reward, Caterpie will be forced a member of their team, and any other reward goes to them. You challenge this, so whoever find Metapod first gets the reward given. So go to Sinister Woods. O===========================================================================O | Section IV - Sinister Woods **PMD44** | O===========================================================================O After the scene with Caterpie and Team Meanies, finish your preparations and go to Sinister Woods. O------------------O--------------O | Sinister Woods | Floors: 12 | O------------------O--------------O | Main Types: Grass, Bug | O---------------------------------O Swinub is of the Ice/Ground type. It is weak to Fire, Fighting, Rock, Steel, Water, and Grass; advantageous over Flying, Grass, Ground, Rock, Fire, Steel, and Electric; and takes little damage from Electric. Oddish and Shroomish are Grass/Poison types. They're weak to Fire, Ice, Flying, and Psychic. They are advantageous over Water, Rock, Ground, and Grass. Sudowoodo is a Rock type. It is weak to Fighting, Ground, Grass, Water, and Steel. It is advantageous over Ice, Fire, and Flying. Sunflora is a Grass type. It is weak to Flying, Fire, Ice, Poison, and Bug. It is advantageous against Rock, Water, and Ground. Sentret, Slakoth, Hoothoot, and Linoone are Normal types. They are weak to Fighting; advantageous over none; and take little damage from Ghost. Cascoon and Silcoon are Bug types. They are weak to Flying, Fire, and Rock. They're advantageous over Grass and Dark. Ledyba and Scyther are Bug/Flying types. They're weak to Rock (4x), Flying, Fire, Ice, and Electric; advantageous over Grass, Dark, Fighting, Bug, and Grass; and take little damage from Ground. Exeggutor is a Grass/Psychic type. It is weak to Fire, Flying, Bug (4x), Ice, Poison, Dark, and Ghost. It is advantageous over Rock, Water, Ground, Fighting, and Poison. Wooper is a Water/Ground type. It is weak to Grass (4x); advantageous over Fire, Rock, Ground, Steel, and Electric; and takes little damage from Electric. After a short scene after beating B12F, you'll fight Team Meanies. ============================= BOSS: Gengar, Medicham, Ekans ============================= Gengar is of the Ghost/Poison type. It is weak to Ghost and Psychic; is advantageous over Ghost, Psychic, and Grass; and takes little damage from Normal, Fighting, and Ground (the latter is in the case of the mainstream games, at least). Medicham is of the Psychic/Fighting type. It is weak to Ghost and Flying and is advantageous over Fighting, Poison, Normal, Rock, Steel, and Ice. Ekans is of the Poison type. It is weak to Ground and Psychic. It is advantageous over Grass. On your first turn, with the enemies away, use a throwable item (ie. Blast Seed) or a ranged move (preferably Quick Attack, or some damage-dealer). After this, you'll need to try to get it to where you and your partner (and other allies) can deal damage. Heal as needed. After the battle, Gengar will flee. You then rescue Metapod, who soon comes from the trees. You'll return to the team base, outside which Caterpie and Metapod voice that they both aspire to be like you. Your partner mentions that you oughta make your house into a true team base, and become the best there is. The next morning, outside the base, Jumpluff approaches you, telling you that Shiftry has failed to return from his mission. Jumpluff wants you to rescue Shiftry and its friend. Speak with Jumpluff to learn that they're stuck in the Silent Chasm. Prep up and go there. O===========================================================================O | Section V - Silent Chasm **PMD45** | O===========================================================================O After you meet Jumpluff and learn Shiftry hasn't returned from his rescue mission, speak with the Jumpluff to learn that Shiftry and Jumpluff are stuck in the Silent Chasm. Head there when ready. O----------------O-------------O | Silent Chasm | Floors: 9 | O----------------O-------------O | Main Types: Bug, Grass | O------------------------------O Farfetch'd is a Normal/Flying type. It is weak to Rock, Ice, and Electric; advantageous over Fighting, Bug, and Grass; and takes little damage from Ghost and Ground. Weedle, Dustox, Spinarak, and Beedrill are of the Bug/Poison type. They are weak to Fire, Flying, Rock, Psychic, and Ground (?). They are advantageous over Grass and Dark. Teddiursa is a Normal type. It is weak to Fighting; advantageous over none; and takes little damage from Ghost. Yanma is a Bug/Flying type. It is weak to Fire, Flying, Rock (4x), Ice, and Electric; advantageous over Grass, Dark, Bug, and Fighting; and takes little damage from Ground. Gloom is a Grass/Poison type. It is weak to Fire, Flying, Ice, and Psychic. It is advantageous over Grass, Water, Rock, and Ground. Poliwag is a Water type. It is weak to Grass and Electric. It is advantageous over Rock, Fire, and Ground. Trapinch is a Ground type. It is weak to Grass, Water, and Ice; advantageous over Fire, Rock, and Steel; and takes little damage from Electric. Houndour is a Dark/Fire type. It is weak to Fighting, Rock, Water, and Ground; advantageous over Psychic, Ghost, Steel, Ice, Grass, and Fire; and takes little damage from Psychic. After beating the ninth floor, you'll find Jumpluff to be okay, but Shiftry seems to be injured. Soon after you arrive, the sky and area turns dark and Zapdos, the legendary Lightning Bird Pokémon, appears. After a quick dialogue, it will disappear, taking Shiftry with it, to Mt. Thunder. Back at the team base, Jumpluff's friend is happy he is okay, but the other one is still worried about Shiftry. You are soon told what happened earlier. Turns out, Shiftry did end up rescuing Jumpluff; however, the wind gusts broke a thundercloud and angered Zapdos. As Jumpluff mentions this, Team ACT will show up, with Alakazam explaining what he thinks on the matter. He'll then speak about rescuing Shiftry, with your partner eventually convincing him to let your team rescue Shiftry, though they'll be hot on your trail. Over the next few days, try training and prepping your team. Mt. Thunder, true to its name, has several Electric Pokémon, so you'll want to bring along Ground types (ie. Geodude), while avoiding Water/Flying types. I recommend being, team-wide, Lv. 16+ before entering. The dungeon is 13 floors total, with only a single breather floor in-between. When ready, go to the dungeon. O===========================================================================O | Section VI - Mt. Thunder **PMD46** | O===========================================================================O O--------------------O------------------------------O | Mt. Thunder | Floors: 10 + breather room | | Mt. Thunder Peak | Floors: 2 + Peak | O--------------------O------------------------------O | Main Type: Electric | O---------------------------------------------------O Weedle and Beedrill are Bug/Poison types. They're weak to Fire, Flying, Rock, Psychic, and Ground (?). They're advantageous over Grass and Dark. Nidoran is a Poison type. It is weak to Psychic and Ground. It is advantageous over Grass. Electrike, Electabuzz, Ampharos, and Manectric are of the Electric type. They are weak to Ground, and are advantageous over Flying and Water. Cacnea is a Grass type. It is weak to Fire, Flying, Ice, Poison, and Bug. It is advantageous over Rock, Ground, and Water. Pidgeotto is a Normal/Flying type. It is weak to Ice, Electric, and Rock; is advantageous over Grass, Bug, and Fighting; and takes little damage from Ghost and Ground. Stantler is a Normal type. It is weak to Fighting; advantageous over none; and takes little damage from Ghost. Gligar is a Ground/Flying type. It is weak to Ice (4x), Water, and Rock; is advantageous over Rock, Fire, Steel, Bug, Fighting, and Grass; and takes little damage from Ground and Electric. Growlithe is a Fire type. It is weak to Water, Rock, and Ground. It is advantageous over Steel, Grass, Ice, and Bug. After beating the tenth floor, you'll find this room with a Kangaskhan statue in it. This room is, as I refer to it as, a breather room. Here, you can use the statue to save. Also, your HP/PP/Status is restored upon coming here. And, most important of all, if you faint past here, you don't have to trek from the very start forward, but from here forward. After rising from the 2F staircase (Peak section), you'll find Zapdos. ============ BOSS: Zapdos ============ Zapdos is an Electric/Flying type. It is therefore weak to Ice and Rock; advantageous over Flying, Water, Bug, Grass, and Fighting; and takes little damage from Ground. As usual, begin with the long-range move/item. Usually, once Zapdos is next to you, you'll have a 4-on-1 (at best). Just wail on him, more or less. He has around 160 HP, so this battle will be long. Don't be afraid to heal. After the battle, Team ACT will arrive (AFTER we needed them, of course). Zapdos will comment your strength for being such a seemingly-weak Pokémon. Alakazam will then state that he knows you're human (or not a Pokémon) originally. You ask him if he, with he vast knowledge, knows what caused this; he knows nothing. He suggests that you go to the Hill of the Ancients and speak with Xatu. Your partner will rush off, dragging you with him. The next day, your partner once more approaches and tells you that he has found out that the Hill of the Ancients is in the Great Canyon. Get prepped for the dungeon and head out. O===========================================================================O | Section VII - Great Canyon **PMD47** | O===========================================================================O The day after rescuing Shiftry, your partner tells you the location of the Hill of the Ancients: the Great Canyon. Prepare for the dungeon and head out. O----------------O----------------O | Great Canyon | Floors: 12 | O----------------O----------------O | Main Type: Normal, Bug, Grass | O---------------------------------O Skiploom is a Grass/Flying type. It is weak to Fire, Ice (4x), Flying, Poison, and perhaps Rock. It is advantageous over Water, Rock, Ground, Grass, Bug, and Fighting. It takes little damage from Ground. Dunsparce and Tauros are of the Normal type. They're weak to Fighting; are advantageous against none; and take little damage from Ghost. Phanpy is a Ground type. It's weak to Grass, Water, and Ice; advantageous over Fire, Rock, Steel, and Electric; and takes little damage from Electric. Doduo and Noctowl are of the Normal/Flying type. They're weak to Rock, Ice, and Electric; are advantageous over Grass, Fighting, and Bug; and take little damage from Ground and Ghost. Vileplume is a Grass/Poison type. It is weak to Fire, Flying, Ice, and Psychic. It's advantageous over Water, Rock, Ground, and Grass. Breloom is a Grass/Fighting type. It is weak to Fire, Flying (4x), Ice, Poison, and Psychic. It's advantageous over Water, Rock, Ground, Normal, Steel, Dark, and Ice. Murkrow is a Dark/Flying type. It is weak to Rock, Ice, and Electric; is advantageous over Psychic, Ghost, Fighting, Grass, and Bug; and takes little damage from Psychic and Ground. Cacturne is a Grass/Dark type. It is weak to Fire, Ice, Bug (4x), Flying, Poison, and Fighting; is advantageous to Rock, Water, Ground, Ghost, and Psychic; and takes little damage from Psychic. Heracross is a Bug/Fighting type. It is weak to Fire, Flying (4x), and Psychic. It's advantageous to Rock, Normal, Dark, Ice, Steel, Grass, Dark, and Psychic. Ariados is a Bug/Poison type. It is weak to Fighting, Rock, Water, and Ground; advantageous over Psychic, Ghost, Steel, Ice, Grass, and Fire; and takes little damage from Psychic. At the top, you'll find Xatu. Despite speaking (and possibly, tickling) with him, he won't respond. Eventually, Xatu will know instantly that you're a human, not a Pokémon. (Yeah, staring at the sun helps him see stuff. *rolls eyes*) Xatu reveals that many natural disasters have been occuring lately (BIG SHOCKER), and that they're tied to you becoming a Pokémon (a real BIG SHOCKER). He then shuts his trap. There are bigger concerns, it seems, as he sees the end of the world every single day. For now, you should be worried about the fact that Gengar was listening in... The next morning, in Pokémon Square, Lombre will tell you of the Ninetales legend. If you need to know more, go north to Whiscash's pond and listen to him. Whiscash will tell you the tale... One day, back in the days that humans were common(er) (I'm spicing it up a bit, okay?), one such human - a Pokémon Trainer, no less - was training a Gardevoir. This Trainer one day had the nerve to touch one of the tails of Ninetales. Any such thing to do so will subject itself to a miserable curse. As the curse was cast, the Trainer's Gardevoir shielded the human from the curse, as is the instinct of Gardevoir. The human gave no care to the cursed Pokémon and fled. Gardevoir later predicted that this same human would, one day, be reborn as a Pokémon ... and upset the balance of the world. See the potential relation to your own story here? After all... ~ You were once human. ~ You became a Pokémon. ~ You have no memory of being human (so it is nearly-impossible to verify whether you did this or not). ~ You've been having dreams of a Gardevoir. ~ Around the time you arrived in the Pokémon world, disasters began to occur (as per the world becoming un-balanced). o_o; Yeah, I'd be nervous, too. Your partner simply stays unmotivated, so you'll just hang out at the base. Later that evening, you'll have dream. The Pokémon will appear to you once more, and you finally figure out that it's Gardevoir. Before you can get any real answers, the dream fades and you awaken. The next morning, you seriously begin to consider the idea that you possibly were the human that fled away from Gardevoir. In the town square, you'll find Gengar riling everyone up, retelling the story of what recently occured at the Hill of the Ancients ... blaming everything on you! They chase you out of town, including Team ACT. They give you the night to prepare to become fugitives. The next dawn, go into town. (You'll be able to mess around as usual. Buy some stuff - you won't return for a bit.) When you're ready, speak with your partner at the team base. After the scenes, you'll be at Lapis Cave. O===========================================================================O | Section VIII - Lapis Cave **PMD48** | O===========================================================================O After becoming a fugitive, you'll soon end up at Lapis Cave. O--------------O--------------O | Lapis Cave | Floors: 14 | O--------------O--------------O | Main Types: Bug, Poison | O-----------------------------O Nincada is a Bug/Ground type. Bagon is a Dragon type. It is weak to Dragon and Ice. It has an advantage over Dragon. After going through the fourteenth floor, you find that, somehow, the whole mob is still on your tail when you leave. You and your partner decide on the smartest (and most suicidal) option -- the active volcano, Mt. Blaze! O===========================================================================O | Section IX - Mt. Blaze **PMD49** | O===========================================================================O After fleeing from the mob and Lapis Cave by heading to Mt. Blaze, you'll be just outside the entrance. Go ahead and use the Kangaskhan statue nearby. As for the cave entrance itself, go into Mt. Blaze - the Rock Path just is a loop. (Though good for grinding at this point.) O------------------O------------------------------O | Mt. Blaze | Floors: 12 + breather room | | Mt. After ascending past the second Peak floor, you'll end up finding and fighting the legendary Fiery Bird Pokémon, Moltres. ============= BOSS: Moltres ============= Moltres is a Fire/Flying type. It is weak to Rock (4x), Water, and Electric; is advantageous over Grass, Ice, Steel, Bug, and Fighting types; and takes little damage from Bug, Grass, and Ground. As usual, start off with the item or long-range attacks. Begin to focus using moves-only on your partner, and restrict him to moves that do normal or super effective damage (if the latter has any, ONLY that). Do the same for yourself. Other than that, it is a fight-and-heal thing. After the battle, Moltres will listen to you. He will forgive you, and then make you promise to restore the world. After the monologue, you'll be outside the Frosty Forest. O===========================================================================O | Section X - Frosty Forest **PMD410** | O===========================================================================O After defeating Moltres and going to the Frosty Forest, prepare yourself. Since there aren't any Freeze-healing berries, forget all berries, save for the Orans. Anyhow, go inside -- ignore the Snow Path loop unless you need to grind. O----------------------O-----------------------------O | Frosty Forest | Floors: 9 + breather room | | Deep Frosty Forest | Floors: 4 + end | O----------------------O-----------------------------O | Main Types: Ice, Rock, Normal, Steel | O----------------------------------------------------O Furret, Ditto, and Azurill are of the Normal type. After finishing the fourth deep forest floor, you'll find and battle Articuno, the legendary Icy Bird Pokémon. ============== BOSS: Articuno ============== Articuno is of the Ice/Flying type. It is weak to Rock (4x), Steel, Fire, and Electric; is advantageous over Grass, Flying, Ground, Bug, and Fighting; and takes little damage from Ground. As usual, you'll want to start with the long-range thing. Then head into the surround-and-attack phase -- if you're close, you might reduce the chance of the ever-powerful Powder Snow. As usual, abuse weaknesses and heal whenever you need to. After the battle, you'll go through the usual process from twice prior: "Oh, please, forgive and believe us!" and "Okay; you owe me." and stuff. Before the latter happens, Absol steps in and joins your party (he is quite decent, and is a Dark type). After the save message, you'll end up finding Gardevoir's spirit in the real world (in-game real world, of course), and she is only visible to you. She will tell you that Ninetales is waiting for you atop Mt. Freeze. Let's go in. O===========================================================================O | Section XI - Mt. It is weak to Fire, Rock, Fighting, and Steel. It is advantageous over Grass, Flying, and Ground. At the Peak, you'll find Ninetales - not. Team ACT finally catches up to and begins to fight you (in a cutscene manner). Ninetales soon interrupts and clears your name, telling the present Pokémon that you were not the one who abandoned Gardevoir. Soon after, before much else can be answered, a quake hits, bringing the Pokémon to fear that Groudon may awaken. Team ACT will insist that they take on Groudon - you will return to Pokémon Square. Back in the aforementioned location, you'll see Gengar in the town square, trying to get everyone to hunt you down. Soon, you arrive into town, and Medicham tells Gengar as such. Your team is told to prove your innocence... and cannot. The Pokémon in the square don't care about that. Then Pelipper drops a news article, stating you were fully cleared of all charges. As irony may have it, Gengar is the next to flee. The next day, you wake up atop your long-missed friend -- the bed! Outside, you will find two familiar faces, your partner (as per usual) and Pelipper (also as per usual). Next up, you'll need to complete three missions before the story will continue. The night after finishing the third, you will have another dream. Gardevoir will appear clearly to you. She tells you that her role now is to watch over you. She also says that she doesn't hate her Trainer, despite... well, you know. Another quake hits and you wake up. You'll recall the dream. Outside, you will meet your partner. It was around now that I also met Wynaut and Wobbuffet; however, their mission thing is listed as "Sub"/side in the Debug Menu. We shall cover it anyhow. Take their mission to the Uproar Forest. It is weak to Fighting; advantageous over none; and takes little damage from Ghost. Mankey is a Fighting type. It is weak to Flying and Psychic. It is advantageous to Normal, Rock, Ice, Steel, and Dark. Additionally, you will fight three on the tenth floor. One thing to mention is that, on 9F, you will want to pick up a Chestnut or two. It'll help later. After this dungeon, you'll return to the team base and speak with Wynaut. You will get a peeled Chestnut as a reward. The Mankey gang soon come and attempt to fight you. Hand over the Chestnut and you'll end up building your team base halfway or so. After a quick monologue, you'll see an incomplete base. The only way to finish it is to give the Mankey gang another Chestnut. (Remember, 9F of the Uproar Forest.) Do so once or twice to finish the base. Hey, it looks like you! The next morning, after finishing the base, you'll need to finish six or so more missions. The day after finishing three, you'll wake up to a quake. Outside, Lombre will tell you to go to the Square - Shiftry is calling all rescue team there. There, you'll find a lot of new Pokémon. Shiftry speaks to the crowd and delivers the terrible news - Team ACT hasn't returned from their underground mission, and no one knows why. Shiftry wants to make a special team made of the best Pokémon here. This soon becomes Blastoise of Team Hydro, Octillery of Team Constrictor, and Golem, of Team Rumblerock. (Keep in mind this would be an excellent team for a dungeon filled with Fire, Rock, and Ground types like the Magma Cavern.) Your next goal to finish off the rest of the six missions. The day after, yet another earthquake wakes you up. Your partner bursts in and takes you to the Square ... where you find Blastoise, Octillery, and Golem collapsed upon the ground! You soon volunteer yourselves to go to the underground dungeon, despite what soon ensues. Magma Cavern - the underground dungeon - is filled with Fire, Rock, and Ground type Pokémon. Water is general preference if at all possible. Rawst Berries, Oran Berries, and Reviver Seeds are a MUST. O===========================================================================O | Section XII - Magma Cavern **PMD412** | O===========================================================================O The day after finishing the six missions required earlier in the game, yet another earthquake wakes you up. On the second deep floor, you will find ACT passed out. Continue into the next room and BOOM! - you'll fight Groudon, the legendary Pokémon who raised the continents. ============= BOSS: Groudon ============= As you may know, Groudon has the ability of Drought. This makes it sunny, which will weaken Water moves and strengthen Fire as well as allowing for the instant use of Solarbeam. Okay, Groudon is a Ground-type Pokémon. This means he is weak against Water, Grass, and Ice (forget about Water; remember Drought?); advantageous over Fire, Rock, Steel, Poison, and Electric; and takes little damage from Electric. As per usual, begin with the long-range move or item. Use your best moves and you'll eventually win. After the battle and rescuing Team ACT, you'll return aboveground. In Pokémon Square, you will talk with everyone when soon, Xatu communicates telepathically with everyone present. He tells everyone of a horrible future -- a falling star is heading straight for the planet! Your only hope is to get Rayquaza, the legendary Pokémon of the sky, to destroy it. However, Rayquaza only lives up in the clouds, right? Well, you and your partner will use a combination of the psychic power of Alakazam and Xatu in the form of the Teleport Gem to get there. Get ready ... and speak with your partner. That night, after a quick Nightmare, Gardevoir will come to you and explain the whole story, as promised... The Pokémon of the world knew of a crisis coming (or some Pokémon?). They knew they alone couldn't conquer this crisis. They sought out someone with bravery and courage; one who wouldn't fall victim to the temptations of glory and greed. They chose a human -- you. You, as a human, denied having such qualities, but they sensed it within you. You then agreed that, as a test, you were to be transformed into a Pokémon with no memory. If you were deemed worthy, you would be told the whole story -- if not, you'd die with the rest of the world. Seeing as you are being told the story, you have been deemed worthy. The next day, you will end up going to the Hill of the Ancients to be shot to the Sky (Tower). After reloading the file, head to the Whiscash Pond to find a hole in the platform nearby. Go near it to be unable to fit inside. A few more things will happen around now -- I forgot to list them -- return to the base afterwards to speak with your partner. You'll be able to, after a conversation, pick the whole team (within the limits of the dungeon). If you wish to evolve, you'll need to go back to that cave without anyone in your party to evolve. Next, go into the Pokémon Square. Speak with Medicham, Lombre, then Whiscash to get the HM, Dive, which is needed to get to some of the dungeons. Dungeons!? It is weak to Grass and Electric; and advantageous over Fire, Rock, and Ground. Usual tactics. After this, your feather is given a third color to make it become the Sunset Feather. You now can go to Mt. Faraway. So, go. O---------------O--------------O | Mt. Faraway | Floors: 40 | O---------------O--------------O | You'll need the Surf HM. | O------------------------------O Aside from the usual mountain Pokémon, you'll find a Friend Bow on 30F - it is behind a locked door, so you'll need to bring a Key. Ho-oh awaits a battle on 40F. =========== BOSS: Ho-oh =========== Ho-oh is a Fire/Flying type, much like Moltres. It is weak to Rock (4x), Water, and Electric; advantageous over Grass, Bug, Ice, Steel, and Fighting; and takes little damage from Ground, Grass, and Bug. After this battle, you can go to the Western Cave. That was made into Section VI, as this section is long enough as it is. O===========================================================================O | Section IV - The Buried Relic...? **PMD54** | O===========================================================================O After finishing off the Stormy Sea, you'll get a letter of the Buried Relic. Go to the Town Square and speak with Shiftrty and Lombre to unlock this LENGTHY dungeon. Bring a lot of Apples and/or a Stamina Band. O----------------O--------------O | Buried Relic | Floors: 99 | O----------------O--------------O This dungeon is, as I said, lengthy. Now, on 15F, you'll find Regirock. ============== BOSS: Regirock ============== Regirock is a Rock type. It is weak to Fighting, Ground, Steel, Water, and Grass. It is advantageous over Flying, Fire, Ice, and Bug. After defeating Regirock, you'll get the Rock Part. On 25F, you'll find Regice. ============ BOSS: Regice ============ Regice is an Ice type. It is weak to Fire, Fighting, Rock, and Steel. It is advantageous over Flying, Grass, Dragon, and Ground. After defeating it, you get the Ice Part. On 35F, you'll find Registeel. =============== BOSS: Registeel =============== Registeel is a Steel type. It is weak to Fire, Fighting, and Ground; takes normal damage from Water and Electric; resists all else; and is advantageous over Rock and Ice. You earn the Steel Part for winning. If you get all three parts meshed together to make a Music Box, you can find Mew on any floor from 36F onwards. It CAN appear MULTIPLE TIMES -- I have had it appear about ten times. Remember, it can Transform, and such is documented on the log. There are also some HMs here. ~ Rock Smash (45F); requires a Key. ~ Strength (60F); need Rock Smash or the ability to walk through walls. ~ Flash (70F); requires Key. ~ Cut (80F); requires Key, Rock Smash/walk-thru-walls, and the ability to cross water. O===========================================================================O | Section V - Latias and Latios **PMD55** | O===========================================================================O After getting the Surf HM and buying the Southern Island Friend Area from Wigglytuff, an event occurs the next day. You'll awaken and find blur to fly past. After a bit, the Northern Range is made available for exploration. O------------------O--------------O | Northern Range | Floors: 25 | O------------------O--------------O At the end of it, on 25F, you'll find the thief, Latios, one of the Eon Pokémon. You'll have to fight him. ============ BOSS: Latios ============ Latios is a Dragon/Psychic type. It is weak to Dragon, Ice, Bug, Ghost, and Dark; and is advantageous over Dragon, Fighting, and Poison. Usual tactics, as usual. After the battle, you'll realize that he stole these items to rescue Latias, his sister, who was injured by a meteor chunk and fell into the Pitfall Valley. Latios is too injured to go, so, using the remains of the Teleport Gem, you'll go in and back. O------------------O--------------O | Pitfall Valley | Floors: 25 | O------------------O--------------O Little to mention here. At the end, you'll rescue Latias and bring here to town. You'll reunite the legendary duo, who then request to be on your rescue team! O===========================================================================O | Section VI - Western Cavern and Mewtwo **PMD56** | O===========================================================================O After obtaining access to Mt. Faraway and recruiting Ho-oh (go up there a second time), you'll be back at your base. After seeing a quick scene between Charizard and Blastoise, you'll find the two severely injured in the Square, letting you know of the Western Cavern. It is open for exploration. O------------------O--------------O | Western Cavern | Floors: 99 | O------------------O--------------O | You'll need the Surf HM. | O---------------------------------O This place really handicaps you, belly-wise. Bring a Stamina Band and a lot of Apples. You'll find some items along the way; go wise about using them. Anyhow, on 99F, you'll end up fighting Mewtwo, deemed by many to be the strongest of Pokémon. ============ BOSS: Mewtwo ============ Mewtwo is of the Psychic type, and therefore weak to Ghost, Dark, and Bug. It is advantageous over Fighting and Poison. Don't be afraid to heal, especially considering the long trip. Mewtwo can't be recruited until the second trip. O===========================================================================O | Section VII - Silver Trench and Lugia **PMD57** | O===========================================================================O First, you must clear the Stormy Sea. Then recruit Latias and Latios (see section V). Then go back up Mt. Thunder, Mt. Blaze, and the Frosty Forest to recruit Zapdos, Moltres, and Articuno, respectively. The next day, head to the Square and speak with Alakazam. He'll mention something about a disturbance near the Legendary Birds' Friend Area. Go there and you'll be given the Whirl Symbol, which allows you into the Silver Trench. O-----------------O--------------O | Silver Trench | Floors: 99 | O-----------------O--------------O | You'll need the Dive HM and a | | Water Pokémon. | O--------------------------------O This dungeon is AWESOME (if you have room-wide moves). Why? Each and every floor is one big rectangle and FILLED with enemies. :) On the last floor is Lugia. =========== BOSS: Lugia =========== Lugia is a Psychic/Flying type. It is weak to Dark, Ghost, Rock, Ice, and Electric; advantageous over Fighting, Poison, Grass, and Bug; and takes little damage from Ground. Usual tactics. O===========================================================================O | Section VIII - Meteor Cave and Deoxys **PMD58** | O===========================================================================O After recruiting Lugia, you'll be allowed to go to Meteor Cave eventually. O---------------O--------------O | Meteor Cave | Floors: 20 | O---------------O--------------O This dungeon is unique. It only has one Pokémon throughout it, Deoxys (a Psychic type) in each of its Formes. On each one, you need to defeat the mirage before getting at the stairs to the next floor. Deoxys is on the last floor. ============ BOSS: Deoxys ============ Deoxys is a Psychic-type. It is weak to Bug, Ghost, and Dark; and advantageous over Fighting and Poison. It isn't too hard by this point with the bare minimum done. However, his recruit rate is low: -10% (that's the base). It is raised to 24% with a Lv. 90+ leader, a Friend Bow, and the Lucario Rank ... but still. O===========================================================================O | Section IX - Joyous Tower **PMD59** | O===========================================================================O After obtaining the Sky Blue Plains (a Friend Area), and recruiting Latias and Latios, you automatically can go here. O----------------O--------------O | Joyous Tower | Floors: 99 | O----------------O--------------O | Restrictions: All members | | are reduced to Lv. 1 and you | | can bring no money. | O-------------------------------O Yes, a 99 Floor dungeon, and you start at Lv. 1. This is restored upon leaving, whether you are above your old level or not. You also get to bring no money. The main reason for coming here are the unique Pokémon, and the challenge. Bring an Escape Orb for safe measure. O===========================================================================O | Section X - Purity Forest and Celebi **PMD510** | O===========================================================================O After unlocking the Sky Blue Plains (a Friend Area) and obtaining Latias and Latios as members, you can go here, too. O-----------------O--------------O | Purity Forest | Floors: 99 | O-----------------O--------------O | Restrictions: Leader-only, at | | Lv. 1, no items, no money, no | | recruiting. | O--------------------------------O Holy ****. You will want to try and find some stuff. Apples of any variety, TMs, and a Pass Scarf. On a side note, there are some TMs in the dungeon, seemingly more often than other dungeons. For this, bring the Pokémon that can learn any TM move -- Mew! If you manage 98 floors, you'll battle Celebi on the 99th... Nah, I'm joking. You'll automatically recruit Celebi. O===========================================================================O | Section XI - Wish Cave and Jirachi **PMD511** | O===========================================================================O After obtaining the Sky Blue Plains, and recruiting Latias and Latios, head to Whiscash's pond. Speak with Medicham and Ekans. Complete some missions, speak again, some more missions, then speak with Ekans. Go to the bulletin board and accept Medicham's job to find Wish Cave. O-------------O--------------O | Wish Cave | Floors: 99 | O-------------O--------------O | Restrictions: Need Surf | | HM, level goes to 1, and | | no money. | O----------------------------O Well, you'll want to bring some Apples, a Pass Scarf, and healing items. If you use Mew (like me), bring TMs/HMs to manage through. After rescuing Medicham, you can return here and go to the last floor. You can have him grant you a wish, one of which will let you recruit him. If you think you can get through here again, you can come back and defeat him to recruitment. On a side note, you'll need a Wish Stone for the wish - one is on 50F if you lose the one Medicham hands over. O===========================================================================O | Section XII - Gengar's Past and Murky Cave **PMD512** | O===========================================================================O After clearing the Stormy Sea and rescuing Medicham from the Wish Cave, you will find Gengar outside your base the next day. He'll request you take him to Mt. Freeze to find Ninetales. O-------------------O------------------------------O | Mt. Freeze | Floors: 15 + breather room | | Mt. Freeze Peak | Floors: 4 + Peak | O-------------------O------------------------------O | Main Type: Fairly various | O--------------------------------------------------O Pineco is of the Bug type. It is weak to Fire, Flying, and Rock. It has an advantage over Psychic, Dark, and Grass. Swablu is a Normal/Flying type. It is weak to Rock, Ice, and Electric; has an advantage over Grass, Fighting, and Bug; and takes little damage from Ghost and Ground. Pupitar is a Ground type. It is weak to Water, Grass, and Ice; has advantages over Fire, Rock, Electric, and Steel; and takes little damage from Electric. Dewgong is a Water/Ice type. It is weak to Grass, Electric, Fighting, and Rock. It is advantageous over Rock, Fire, Ground, Flying, and Grass. Vigoroth, Slaking, and Zangoose are Normal types. They're weak to Fighting; advantageous over none; and take little damage from Ghost. Chimecho is a Psychic type. It is weak to Dark, Ghost, and Bug. It is advantageous over Fighting and Poison. Seviper is a Poison type. It is weak to Ground and Psychic. It is advantageous over Grass. Glalie (which happens to be the only Pokémon on the Peak floors) is an Ice type. It is weak to Fire, Rock, Fighting, and Steel. It is advantageous over Grass, Flying, and Ground. At the top is Ninetales. After Gengar begs a bit, Ninetales will tell him to go to Murky Cave to see if he can be transformed back into a human, depsite having abandoned Gardevoir and been cursed. The next day, you'll take him to Murky Cave. O--------------O--------------O | Murky Cave | Floors: 20 | O--------------O--------------O At the end of this dungeon will be a very plotty scene. I will not spoil it. O===========================================================================O | Section XIII - Uproar Forest **PMD513** | O===========================================================================O The appearance of this is unknown. I encountered it the day after returning from being a fugitive. A Wynaut and Wobbuffet will tell you to look at their job on the bulletin board. Do so and you'll eventually be allowed to this dungeon to solve their Mankey problem. O-----------------O--------------O | Uproar Forest | Floors: 10 | O-----------------O--------------O | Main Type: Grass | O--------------------------------O Venonat is a Bug/Poison type. It is weak to Fire, Flying, Rock, Psychic, and maybe Ground. It is advantageous over Dark, Psychic, and Grass. Seedot is a Grass type. It is weak to Fire, Flying, Bug, Poison, and Ice. It is advantageous over Rock, Water, and Ground. Nuzleaf is a Grass/Dark type. It is weak to Fire, Flying, Bug (4x), Poison, Ice, and Fighting; is advantageous over Rock, Water, Ground, Ghost, and Psychic; and takes little damage from Psychic. Roselia is a Grass/Poison type. It is exclusive to Red Rescue Team. It is weak to Fire, Flying, Ice, and Psychic. It is advantageous over Rock, Water, Ground, and Grass. Aipom is a Normal type and exclusive to Blue Rescue Team. O===========================================================================O | Section XIV - Howling Forest **PMD514** | O===========================================================================O After obtaining the Sky Blue Plains Friend Area, you'll be able to find a job on the Bulletin Board by a Smeargle. You'll need to rescue him from the Howling Forest. It has mostly Grass and Bug types, I think, and is about 10 to 15 floors. After reaching the last floor and a few scenes, you'll be allowed to go to the Howling Forest whenever, and you'll get Smeargle as a team member. 6.
