At the beginning, you are woken up by another Pokemon (see PMDR4) and are confused because you remember being a human. You and the Pokemon who wakes you up form a rescue team. In the main storyline, you are always the leader and your partner is always with you. After a while, you can get more Pokemon to join your team. After the storyline, a lot happens still. You can now evolve, change your leader, go to dungeons with whomever you want, unlock more Friend Areas, complete side missions, unlock more dungeons, and be able to recruit more legendaries. Like most Pokemon games, you start off by waking up and choose a name. You, the main character, start off at level 5. You then get stronger by gaining experience after defeating enemies. Your stats also grow when you grow a level. Different Pokemon grow levels at different rates and gain stats at different speeds. Legendaries gain levels and stats slowly but have good base stats. This game introduces many new things, including recruiting. To get other Pokemon, you simply have to kill them, and see if you are lucky. For more information, see How to catch'em all section. You also get many more items in this game. For more on that, see the Items section. You also can get all 386 Pokemon without cheating (finally!!!). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PMDR3 Controls ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For the Gameboy Advance the controls are: R-Move diagonal L-Move diagonal + Pad-Direction Start-Activate grid lines, allow you to aim without moving your Pokemon, auto-aiming if a Pokemon is standing in one of 8 tiles around you. When the cursor is on an item/move, press Start will open Info window. Select-View MINIMAP A-Attack, select, talk, etc. B-Change direction, slight press will open menu, hold to run, if you hold and walk on an item, you won't pick it up. Button combinations: L+A-Use set move L+B-Display message log L+R-Throw set item A+B-Skip turns. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PMDR4 Main Character and Partner ---------------------------------------------------------------------- At the beginning, you take a personality quiz to find out which Pokemon you are. After you find out you may either restart to get a different Pokemon or accept. When you accept, then you choose your partner. There are 16 starters and 10 partners. The starter depends on two things, gender and personality, arranged as such: Male Female Hardy: Charmander Pikachu Docile: Bulbasaur Chikorita Brave: Machop Charmander Jolly: Squirtle Totodile Impish: Pikachu Cubone Naive: Totodile Eevee Timid: Cyndaquil Mudkip Hasty: Torchic Skitty Sassy: Treecko Torchic Calm: Mudkip Bulbasaur Relaxed: Psyduck Squirtle Lonely: Cubone Psyduck Quirky: Meowth Treecko As you can tell, Machop, Meowth and Cyndaquil are male only and Chikorita, Eevee and Skitty are female only, but you can still get them later. The ten partners are the 9 basic starters and Pikachu. For a complete list they are: Charmander Cyndaquil Mudkip Pikachu Torchic Bulbasaur Chikorita Totodile Squirtle Treecko You can have any of the 10 above as a partner except yourself or one who has the same type as you (Mudkip, Squirtle, and Totodile; Chikorita, Bulbasaur, and Treecko; Cyndaquil, Charmander, Torchic). My suggestions are: Mudkip- Cyndaquil (My Choice) or another fire type Charmander- Pikachu (Demo Choice) Squirtle- Torchic or another fire type Treecko- Mudkip or another water type Cyndaquil- Bulbasaur, Pikachu or Treecko Chikorita- Chikorita is hard with anyone but I say go with Mudkip or Squirtle Bulbasaur- Easy game with any partner Pikachu- Any starter works Totodile- Torchic or another fire type Torchic- Anyone but Chikorita Machop- Mudkip or Torchic Skitty- Charmander, Squirtle, Torchic, Treecko, Cyndaquil, Pikachu, or Mudkip Cubone- Torchic, Cyndaquil or Charmander Psyduck- Torchic or another fire type Eevee- Charmander, Squirtle, Torchic, Treecko, Cyndaquil, Pikachu, or Mudkip Meowth- Charmander, Squirtle, Torchic, Treecko, Cyndaquil, Pikachu, or Mudkip You can choose anyone you want; these are just suggestions to make it easier. To make it harder choose Chikorita as a partner or a main. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PMDR5 Walkthrough ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PMDR5a-------------Tiny Woods- When you first start off, you hear a cry for help from Butterfree. Butterfree needs you to save her baby Caterpie from the third floor of TINY WOODS. You cannot recruit any Pokemon here ever but it is an easy dungeon. Once you complete the mission, you and your partner form a rescue team. You will be shown to your rescue base - your new home. The next day, you feel groggy and you are obliged to go to bed. PMDR5b-------------Thunderwave Cave- After having more sleep, you feel refreshed. You then walk out of your base and found your partner snooze off on the pathway. Your partner wakes up and he then looks at the Mailbox for rescue. He finds the Rescue Starter Set, but no rescue. Then, a Pelipper delivers a mail from Magnemite. It asks you to save two other Magnemites from THUNDERWAVE CAVE - a 5-floor dungeon. Very easy. After the mission, you will have a weird dream. When you wake up the next morning, you partner will give you a tour to the Pokemon Square and Pelipper Post Office. Then everything is back to normal till the next time you wake up. PMDR5c-------------Mt. Steel- You have the same weird dream and EARTHQUAKE!!! You wake up the next day. While you are wondering why the earthquake last night was so real, a Dugtrio comes and asks for your help. Simply enough you have to save his baby Diglett from MT. STEEL. This can be a pain. There are 9 floors. 8 normal floors and a boss floor. You must defeat Skarmory. Once you do, you realize you cannot get to Diglett to save him (DOH!). Just then the Magnemites come in and lift Diglett out and bring him back to your base. One of the Magnemites asks if he can join your rescue team. You say yes but then you find out you don't have anywhere for the Magnetmite to live in. Again, you have that weird dream. This time, the Pokemon shows it's form, a Gardevoir. You want her to stay and tell you more but then she fades away. The next day in town, the Wigglytuff Club opens up. She will give you three free Friend Areas, your main's Friend Area, your partner's Friend Area and Magnemite's Friend Area. Magnemite also joins your team. From now on, you may recruit Pokemon, if you have their Friend Area (for more information on requirements to recruit them see the How to Catch'em All section). To get more Friend Areas simply buy them from Wigglytuff (with few exceptions applied). To have one of your partners join your team for adventure, simply go left from your team base and visit them. Continue doing missions for a few days until... PMDR5d-------------Sinister Woods- After a few days you will have the dream. Go to Pokemon square every day to check for the Jumpluff. One of the Jumpluffs is trapped in Silent Chasm. They are asking for Team Shiftry to do it. They keep refusing until Alakazam`s team (Alakazam, Charizard, and Tyranitar) convince them otherwise. Team Shiftry leaves and everything gets quite for a while. Then...you go to sleep, and IN the morning... When you wake up this time you walk out side and meet Team Meanies, who steel all your mail (you get new mail immediately so don’t fret). Then a few days later... In the Morning, when you wake up this time you walk out side and meet a familiar face. Its Caterpie. After you saved him he wants you to save his friend Metapod. Before you accept, Team Meanies (Gengar, Medicham, and Ekans) take the mission and tell Caterpie that they will need a large reward and that Caterpie will join their rescue team. Team Meanies leave and Caterpie tells you how he doesn't have any money and he doesn't want to join Team Meanies. You decide to save Metapod Before they do. On the thirteenth floor of Sinister Woods you meet Team Meanies. Time for Another Boss Battle. You must defeat all three of them. It isn't that hard but Once you complete it Metapod comes out of the background and thanks you. The next day... PMDR5e-------------Silent Chasm- Jumpluff comes and begs you to go and see what is wrong with Shiftry`s team. They have gone missing. You have to go down ten floors and then you meet Shiftry. He is exhausted and passed out. The missing Jumpluff is there though. Then Zapdos comes down and yells at you and then takes Shiftry to the peak of MT. THUNDER. The Jumpluff tells you that she didn't want to leave Shiftry like that so she waited. PMDR5f-------------Mt. Thunder- Now time to rescue Shiftry. You must not only climb to the top of Mt. Thunder but when you get there, you can save and continue on to Mt. Thunder Peak. On the third floor of the peak, you find Zapdos. You must fight Zapdos to the death. Zapdos can be recruited but not on your first time fighting him. Once you defeat Zapdos you go back to the regular flow of things. Until you have the dream for one of the last times. PMDR5g-------------Great Canyon- The Natural Disasters keep getting worse and worse. You must now scale the Great Canyon to meet Xatu to ask why. He greets you saying about how he knew you were a human. He tells you that the Natural Disasters are being caused by a human with a curse on him because... Once upon a time there was a mythical creature named Ninetales. It is said that anyone who grabbed one of Ninetales' tails would be cursed forever. One day a human did, and when Ninetales cast the curse, the humans' faithful Pokemon, Gardevoir, took the curse for him. Ninetales was going to give the human the chance of rescuing Gardevoir, but the human just ran and fled. Ninetales curses this human to live as a Pokemon until he learned his lesson and freed Gardevoir. No one knows if this story is true or not... After story time Xatu bids you farewell, but not before Gengar finds out your were a human. PMDR5h-------------Lapis Cave- The next day when you wake up you go to Pokemon Square and Gengar is telling everyone how the natural disasters are being caused by a human and finishes off by saying how you are a human. You leave and Alakazam comes and tells you how every rescue team is going to work to kill you. You decide to leave without telling anyone. So, you and your partner are now running away. You get to a cave and you decide to go through it. PMDR5i-------------Mt. Blaze- Once you make it through you hear the rescue teams spot you so you keep running. You decide to try to climb the volcano. At the top is Moltres. Same deal as Zapdos, at the top of the peak, and you can't recruit him until you come back. When you leave you keep running until you get to a frozen tundra. Only a few teams are chasing you still. PMDR5j-------------Frosty Forest- You keep running away to Frosty Forest. At the top is the Frosty Grotto. On the top of Frosty Grotto is Articuno. Same as the other two. When you leave Absol decides to come with you, with or without your consent. You also find out where Ninetales is. You decide to head to Mt. Freeze, the home of Ninetales. PMDR5k-------------Mt. Freeze- One final team is chasing you, and of course it is Alakazam's team. You have the dream again, but this time everything is completely clear and you are still awake. Absol and your partner think your crazy now. You now need to scale Mt. Freeze to meet with Ninetales. While your climbing, Alakazam's team catches up to you and you fight. Before the battle gets real harsh, Ninetales comes out. He says that you are not the human from the curse, in fact you were chosen to come to the Pokemon world to save everyone. He then tells you that the Earthquakes are being caused by Groudon. Alakazam's team goes to confront Groudon at Magma Cavern. When you get back Gengar gets really mad. PMDR5l-------------Uproar Forest- Talk Meanwhile, there is another mission for you to work on, but first the dream. You decide to wait for a while but when you try to leave a Wynaut and a Wobbuffet come up and talk to you. They complain about some Mankeys in their home, Uproar Forest. You go to beat up the Mankeys. Get some Chestnuts while your at it, they are useful later. At the top is three Mankeys. Beat them up and a scene will happen where they agree to finish your team base for three chestnuts. Give them that and then another scene will happen and you promise to visit them again (I HAVEN'T SH!!) Wait a couple of days and... PMDR5m-------------Magma Cavern- Alakazam's team still hasn't returned. Blastoise, Octillery, and Golem go to find them. After a few days they come back exhausted, and everyone is about to give up hope. Your partner talks them all into trying again. Now everyone is going to go try to rescue them. You get to go and save them. When you finally get to the final floor, You find Charizard and Tyranitar lying on the ground. They tell you about how Alakazam is still fighting Groudon. You go and witness Groudon beat Alakazam and then you have to beat Groudon. Once you do you find out about the final natural disaster you need to save them from. A meteor is coming towards the planet. PMDR5n-------------Sky Tower- You must scale Great Canyon to meet with Xatu. He gives you the warp gem. You use it to go to Sky Tower, the home of Rayquaza. Nothing special here. When you do finish it you come back and everyone congratulates you for saving the world, but you don't seem happy and you leave, never to return. To come back here you need HM Fly. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PMDR6 Evolution ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Once you save the world yadayadayada, you can finally evolve, or at least soon. You go to Whiscash Pond and you meet Granbull. He tells you how he fell down a hole and when he came out he was no longer Snubbull. To evolve, you simply have to meet the requirements and/or give the required items when you enter the hole Luminous Cave. You may only enter by yourself. For the requirements, see How to Catch`em All section. PMDR6a- Eevee Evolutions- so Eevee evolves into one of five Pokemon: Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Espeon, Umbreon. For those who use Eevee a lot, and want to evolve it and are wondering what would be best to evolve it to for your team, here are some factors to consider: 1. Who else is in your team 2. What dungeons you normally do 3. Personal Preference You need to know who will work best with who, and for your team, its generally not a good idea to use more than one of the same type on your basic team. (exceptions apply with dual-typed) So if you also have a Charmander, don't choose Flareon, and the like. Even after you do that you will still probably have 3-4 Pokemon to choose from. I find that if you do dungeons that have a lot of psychic opponents, then choose Umbreon, if you are doing dungeons with a lot of water opponents, Jolteon (unless you already have an electric type), and so forth. If you now have 2 left then choose. If you have 1, then you are very narrow- minded with your team and dungeons. If you still need help, look at the facts. Statswise, Espeon and Umbreon are the exact same. Espeon has the benefit of its strong psychic attacks though. On the other hand, Umbreon has the immunity to the strong psychic attacks. Jolteon and Vaporeon are almost the same as well, minus the types. The only difference is the defense vs sp. Defense, which is too minute to matter. Flareon has higher stats in every categories than everybody, BUT also takes 320000ish more experience to get to level 100. Also Espeon and Umbreon, having their type advantages, have the lowest stats. They have 5ish less hp, and 10ish less attack and special attack, and 2-5 less defense and sp. Defense than everyone else. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PMDR7 Post Storyline Walkthrough ---------------------------------------------------------------------- I know, it sounds ironic but after you complete the main storyline you can do secondary storylines to unlock more dungeons and such. Yes your starter does come back. There are many different requirements for each. So, I'll try to put them in a logical order. PMDR7a-------------Waterfall Pond- Automatically unlocked when you beat the main storyline. Only accessible if you have HM Waterfall with you or if someone in your party knows Waterfall. The only reason to go here is to get the three water starters and some other unique Pokemon. PMDR7b-------------Wyvern Hill- Automatically unlocked when you get the Friend Area Dragon Cave. The best place to get Dragons. You can get Sun Ribbon on 20F and HM Fly on 30F, both of which are in Keyed chambers. PMDR7c-------------Unown Relic- Automatically unlocked when you get the Friend Area Ancient Chamber AN and Ancient Chamber O?. Only place to get Unown. PMDR7d-------------Darknight Relic- Automatically unlocked when you get the Friend Area Conceal Forest. 15 floors of ghosts. PMDR7e-------------Desert Region- Automatically unlocked after getting the Friend Area Sizzling Desert. 20 floors of ground Pokemon and high chance of finding Keys. PMDR7f-------------Southern Cavern- Unlocked after receiving the Friend Area Rock Cave. Home of Cubone. Metal Coat can be found on 50BF of this dungeon. PMDR7g-------------Far-off Sea- Unlocked after getting the Friend Area Serene Sea. Requires Dive to enter. Tight belt can be found here. PMDR7h-------------Grand Sea- Unlocked after getting the Friend Area Serene Sea. Requires Dive to enter. Mantine is on floor 30. PMDR7i-------------Howling Forest- Unlocked by completing a mission with the reward of Sky Blue Plains. Soon after you have Sky Blue Plains you will find an SOS from Smeargle. Once you accept the SOS, Howling Forest will be accessible. When you rescue Smeargle, Smeargle joins your team. PMDR7j-------------Stormy Sea- Unlocked when you get HM Dive. To get HM Dive simply talk to Medicham, then Lombre, then Wishcash. Wishcash will give it to you. You can now go to Stormy Sea. On the 40th floor is Kyogre. Kyogre can be recruited the first time you fight him. PMDR7k-------------Solar Cave- Automatically unlocked when you unlock Stormy Sea. HM Dive (10BF), Surf (20BF), and Waterfall (15BF) can be found here. To get Dive and Waterfall are behind locked doors for which you will need a key. To get Surf you need someone who can walk over water. If you already have one of those, you will find a Link Cable in their places instead. This is also the best place to search for Key, Moon Stone and Sun Stone. PMDR7l-------------Buried Relic- When you complete Stormy Sea you will get a letter saying that Buried Relic is now available. This is probably your first 99-floor dungeon. You can only recruit the 3 Regis if you have the part corresponded to them or simply having Music Box in your Toolbox. On floors 36-98, you can encounter Mew if you have the Music Box with you. But note that Mew won't appear as you are walking like the other Pokemon. It can only be generated when the floor is created or inside a Monster House. Once you recruit Mew, you are automatically transported out of the dungeon. PMDR7m-------------Northern Range- Once you have HM Surf (obtained in Solar Cave floor 20) and access to the Friend Area Southern Island (buy from Wigglytuff) you will see a cutscene in the morning, someone is stealing from the Kecleon store. when you head to town to investigate you decide to get the items back from the thief who you somehow no went to Northern Range. 25 floors leading up to a 1 vs your team with Latios. beat him and return home. PMDR7n-------------Pitfall Valley- Once you clear Northern Range, you find out that Latios stole Kecleon's ware so that he could save his sister Latias from the bottom of Pitfall Valley. WELCOME TO PITFALL VALLEY. 25 floors of annoyance before you save Latias. Once you save her, both of the Lati@ses will join your team. PMDR7o-------------Wish Cave- After you unlock Sky-Blue Plains and saving the Lati@ses you will find Medicham and Ekans talking near Wishcash pond. Sneak up on them. Do so for a day or two until Ekans is left alone. Talk to Ekans and then check the board for an SOS from Medicham. She is on floor 20 of Wish Cave . When you rescue her, she will give you the Wish Stone. You can also get a new Wish Stone on the 50th floor if you lost yours. When you enter this dungeon your team will revert back to lvl 1. On the 99th floor is Jirachi. You can choose to fight him and try and recruit him or use the wish stone and get a wish. once you recruit him you can no longer get a wish. And if you thought that this was hard just try the most annoying of them all... PMDR7p-------------Purity Forest- After unlocking Sky Blue Plains and saving the Lati@ses you will unlock the most annoying and time consuming dungeon in the game. It is another 99 floor lvl 1 regression dungeon (like Wish Cave) you can't bring any partner, you can bring no items, and no money. On the 99th floor is Celebi who will join you when you arrive (what no battle, no 84 unsuccessful tries to recruit to the point where you want to break your game... that's good). FINALLY SOMETHING EASY!!! PMDR7q-------------Joyous Tower- After unlocking Sky-Blue Plains and saving the Lati@ses you will unlock Joyous Tower, the home to every recruitable Pokemon who you cant get anywhere else (NO DUH) including most of the starters and Togepi(WOOHOO!). PMDR7r-------------Murky Cave- THE MOST ANNOYING MISSIONS IN THE WORLD ARE WHEN YOU HAVE TO ESCORT A GHOST! they can go through walls so i suggest getting a mobile scarf or something like a ghost. well once you have completed the stormy sea and saved Medicham you get a visit from Gengar(its been a while). He asks you to escort him to Ninetales. When you get there you find out that he was the one from the legend. He asks Ninetales for forgiveness and Ninetales tells him to go to the bottom (floor 20) of Murky Cave. When you arrive, play out the cutscene thing and in the end Gengar becomes truly remorseful, and gets to become a human again, just to save Gardevoir(OHH! how touching!). the next day when you go to Pokemon Square Gardevoir will join your team. PMDR7s-------------Silver Trench- Once you recruit the three Legendary birds, save the Lati@s duo, complete Stormy Sea, and get HM Surf, talk to Alakazam, and he will tell you to check on them. They give you the Whirlpool Crest and access to Silver Trench. Silver Trench is fairly easy. Go with a Water Pokemon who knows Dive, Surf and Earthquake (like a Swampert). Silver Trench has a few one-room monster house floors, easily 15,000EXP. Lugia is on the 99th floor. When you beat him he will join your team. PMDR7t-------------Meteor Cave- After you beat Silver Trench, you will meet Xatu. Then Blastoise will come and ask Xatu about a cave he found while exploring. Xatu will say it was formed by the meteor you exploded and he names it meteor cave. 20 floors with 1 enemy each, a form of Deoxys. When you kill the Deoxys the stairs will appear. On the 20th floor is the real Deoxys, who you can recruit your 1st time. PMDR7u-------------Fiery Field- Once you get HM Surf (solar cave floor 20) a Spinda will visit you the next day. He will give you the Clear Feather. Take the Clear Feather to Xatu and he will tell you to go to Fiery Fields. Fiery Fields has many fire Pokemon including Charmeleon, Quilava, Combusken, and Entei. On the thirtieth floor you find Entei. You may not recruit him your first time. On the 29th floor you will find Fire Stones. After you defeat Entei, he will turn the Clear Feather to a Red Feather. PMDR7v-------------Lightning Field- Once you have the Red Feather you have access to Lightning Fields. Same deal as Fiery Fields, Thunderstones on floor 29 and Raikou on floor 30. When you defeat Raikou, he will turn the Red Feather into a Sunset Feather. PMDR7w-------------Northwind Field- The Sunset Feather lets you enter Northwind Fields. Same as the other two, Water stones on floor 28 and Suicune on floor 30. When you defeat Suicune, he will turn the SunSet Feather into a Rainbow Feather and tells you to scale Mt. Faraway. PMDR7x-------------Mt. Faraway- Requires the Rainbow Feather. 40 floors and home to the mirage Pokemon, Ho-oh. Ho-oh is on the 40th floor and cannot be recruited on your first time. PMDR7y-------------Western Cave- After you recruit Ho-oh, You will see Blastoise and Charizard exploring a cave. The next day when you go to Pokemon Square you will be asked who the strongest Pokemon is, Rayquaza, Groudon, or you. After you answer, Wynaut will tell the story of a Pokemon who was made to fight. When Lombre says that the myth is wrong, Charizard and Blastoise come crawling in and tell you how it is true. You can now go to Western Cave, Home of Mewtwo. Mewtwo is on floor 99 and this dungeon has some pretty strong Pokemon. I used 5 Reviver seeds when I went by myself and didn't recruit anyone. If you get a monster house here you can get up to 25000EXP. You cannot recruit Mewtwo on your first visit. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PMDR8 Statues ---------------------------------------------------------------------- There are 4 statues: - Weaville Figure: Wonder Mail or from Bulletin Board/Mailbox. - Lucario Figure: Obtain Lucario Rank and then you receive it in the mail. - Bonsly Figure: Complete 17 Makuhita Elemental Mazes. - Mime Jr. Figure: Wonder Mail or from Bulletin Board/Mailbox. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PMDR9 Adventure Log ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Your Adventure Log is a journal of what you have accomplished. Here is what a completed one looks like: Page 1 Reached the Hill of the Ancients. Took to the road as fugitives. Prevented the meteor's collision. Broke the curse on Gardevoir. The rescue team base was completed. Rescued Smeargle. Spotted Munchlax. ### moves were learned. Southern Island- Free Inhabitants- Latias Latios ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PMDR12 How to Catch`em All ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You are able to get every Pokemon. If you have their Friend Area, a room in your party, and defeat it with your leader, then you have a chance to recruit them, or your recruitment percent. You can increase that chance by growing your leaders level or giving your leader the friend bow. For more information about recruitment rate visit ransanganorbs in-depth guide. Level Percent Added 30-39 5% 40-49 7.5% 50-59 10% 60-69 12.5% 70-79 15% 80-89 17.5% 90+ 24% The Friend bow gives you another +10% bonus so the max you can have is +34%. I will not include recruitment rates in my FAQ. To recruit most legendaries (not including CELEBI and storyline recruits like Latios and Latias) you must go to there home WITHOUT a mission and battle them and then get lucky. CELEBI you basically get to the top of purity forest and he/she joins your team. dungeons. Not all Pokemon recruitable in level 1 dungeons only are here. For example: Jigglypuff is only recruitable in level 1 dungeons but is not on this list because you can also get one from evolving an Igglybuff which you can get in a non-level 1 dungeon. Does it have to be in the main part of the dungeon or in the peak area? A- NO. You must not be undertaking a mission in the dungeon to be able to recruit the legendary. And I don't think you can get a mission in the peak. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PMDR14 Contact Me --------------------------------------------------------------------- Contact me at Timothdk@bellsouth.net.
