WALKTHROUGH- --------------- BIG NOTE: Most of this information was acquired on the sapphire version, so if there is any discrepancies with the ruby version please email me at paradisio15@houston.rr.com Professor Birch will greet you and you can pick your gender and name, gender has no real effect on the game so do not fret about which to choose. ----------- ----------- A. BADGE 1- ----------- ----------- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~LITTLEROOT TOWN~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ You will then appear in Littleroot town, your' new home, but not for long. Go upstairs and set your clock and then go back downstairs to speak with your mother again. NOTE: Check your computer and withdraw a potion! Go next door and speak with your neighbor/rival they will be the opposite gender of you. Male Rival- Brendan Female Rival- May He/she is professor Birch's son/daughter, which increases the pressure on you. But unlike the other games your rival is actually friendly. Go to the top of the town to find Professor Birch being attacked by a dog pokemon. Pick a starter Pokemon, you get to keep this pokemon, all of them are good. You can get either Torchic the fire pokemon, Treecko the grass pokemon, or Mudkip the water pokemon. As there are very few fire pokemon in this game, you may want to pick Torchic. After you pick you will automatically engage Poochyena, he is level 2 and your pokemon is level 5. It should be a very easy fight. Just your basic attack and he should go down in 2 to 3 hits. You are then transported to his lab where he will compliment you and give you the pokemon formally. Then go meet Birch's Son/Daughter. ~~~~~~~~~~~ ~ROUTE 101~ ~~~~~~~~~~~ POKEMON: Wurmple, Zigzagoon, and Poochyena Pokemon are levels 2 to 3 You don't have any way to catch them yet so just level up your starter one or two times to get an advantage on the battle ahead. The trainers here will give you some tips but will not fight you. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~OLDALE TOWN~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Heal up your pokemon at the Pokemon Center first of all. Talk to the lady next to the house near the entrance to get a complimentary potion. Nothing really to do here but go up (left exit it blocked for now.) ~~~~~~~~~~~ ~ROUTE 103~ ~~~~~~~~~~~ POKEMON: Zigzagoon, Poochyena, and Wingull (rare) Pokemon are levels 2 to 4 Items: Guard Spec. Berry: 2 Leppa and 4 cheri Your first trainer battle with your rival, if you got a few levels it should be easy enough. If you picked torchic the opponent will be mudkip. If you picked treecko the opponent will use torchic. And if you picked mudkip the opponent will use treecko. So your pokemon always has the type disadvantage. Their pokemon will be level 5 also. PKMN Trainer May/Brendan Torchic/Treecko/Mudkip level 5 If you have a type attack other than the basic normal attack (such as scratch) do not use it, as he has a type advantage over you. So just use your basic attack, the fight shouldn't be too difficult. Return to Oldale town. Note: You can not get to these trainers at this time, you can get to these trainers from route 110. TRAINERS: Aroma Lady Dai Roselia, level 16 *Twins Amy and Liv Plusle, level 16 Minun, level 16 *Pokefan Miguel Skitty, level 16 Fisherman Andrew Magikarp, level 5 Tentacool, level 10 Magikarp, level 15 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~OLDALE TOWN~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Talk to your rival. And then head home to Littleroot. Just go back the same way you went. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~LITTLEROOT TOWN~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Just head back to the lab. Where you receive your pokedex (yay.) Your rival will give you 5 pokeballs to start with. Time to catch some pokemon! On your way out your mom will give you running shoes so you can run faster. Catch whatever pokemon you desire on your way. I would suggest getting Wingull (from route 103) if you picked a non-water starter. I suggest picking up some more pokeballs in Oldale Town pokemart also, as there are lot of pokemon ahead. Back in Oldale Town the left route is now open. ~~~~~~~~~~~ ~ROUTE 102~ ~~~~~~~~~~~ Pokemon: Lotad (sapphire), Seedot (ruby), Poochyena, Wurmple, Zigzagoon, Ralts (rare), and Surskit (rare) Pokemon are levels 3 to 4 Berries: 2 Oran berry and 2 Pecha berry Items: Potion I would definitely suggest picking up at least Ralts, as it is the first psychic pokemon. It'll be a few levels before it has a psychic attack or any attack though, but it is worth it. Also, you may want to pick up Lotad, as he is a grass Pokemon. TRAINERS: *Youngster Calvin Zigzagoon, level 5 Bug Catcher Rick Wurmple, level 4 Wurmple, level 4 Youngster Allen Poochyena, level 5 Taillow, level 3 Lass Tiana Zigzagoon, level 4 Zigzagoon, level 4 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~PETALBURG CITY~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Items: Max Revive You probably look at the gym and think "yay, my first gym battle." Sorry my friend, you are mistaken but you will return here later to face... YOUR FATHER! Yes, your father is the gym leader here. Stop by the gym, and talk to pops. Wally will pop in, and you will help him catch a pokemon, but it is really just a tutorial for you. When you return Wally will thank you and your father will instruct you to go to Rustboro City to further you training and challenge Roxanne, the gym leader there. If you are wondering why you can't fight him now, it is because he would whoop you easily. And you can return once you have 4 gym badges. ~~~~~~~~~~~ ~ROUTE 104~ ~~~~~~~~~~~ Pokemon: Zigzagoon, Wurmple, Taillow, and Wingull Pokemon are levels 4 to 5 Berries: 2 Oran Berry and 2 Pecha Berry Items: pokeball (must go through forest) Nothing to do here except fight a few trainers. You may want to pick up Taillow, as it is a fairly good bird pokemon. Also note this location, as you will have to return to here shortly to use the docks. TRAINERS: Youngster Billy Seedot, level 6 Taillow, level 8 *Rich Boy Winston Zigzagoon, level 7 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~PETALBURG WOODS~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Pokemon: silcoon, zigzagoon, cascoon, shroomish, wurmple, taillow (rare), and slakoth (rare) Pokemon are levels 5 to 6 Items: Paralyz Heal, Ether, Great Ball, X Attack, and Miracle Seed You may want to grab 2 Slakoths as you can trade one for a fighting pokemon soon. You may also want to grab a shroomish for a grass pokemon for your team. As you go through the forest, you will stumble upon a man looking for a Shroomish. Then a member from the new team Aqua/Magma, who has been waiting from him, got impatient and decided to attack him in the woods. The man is some kind of researcher for the Devon Company and has some important papers the team Aqua/Magma member wants. You must protect the man! The Aqua/Magma Grunt Poochyena, level 9 Your starter is probably higher level than his Poochyena if you have only been using him. But you should have much more firepower than this pooch. After you defeat the loser, the researcher will thank you and give you a great ball. The team Aqua/Magma member also says they are after something in Rustboro, a foreshadowing of things to come. TRAINERS: Bug Catcher Lyle Wurmple, level 3 Wurmple, level 3 Wurmple, level 3 Wurmple, level 3 Wurmple, level 3 Wurmple, level 3 *Bug Catcher James Nincada, level 8 ~~~~~~~~~~~ ~ROUTE 104~ ~~~~~~~~~~~ Pokemon: Wurmple, Zigzagoon, and Taillow Pokemon are levels 4 to 5 Items: TM09 (given,) potion, X Accuracy Berries: 4 Cheri Berry, 2 Oran berry, 2 Leppa Berry Before you venture I suggest putting your two best pokemon at the front of your pokemon selection, as you will soon be in your first 2 on 2 battle (exciting!) Stop by the flower shop, talk to the ladies and pick up a random berry and the Wailmer Pail. Fight your way to the bridge and talk to the twins, double fight! It should be no problem if you carry a fire type and some decently leveled pokemon. Talk to the old lady by the other berry bush for a Chesto Berry. TRAINERS: *Lady Cindy Zigzagoon, level 7 *Lass Haley Lotad, level 7 Shroomish, level 7 Twins Gina and Mia Lotad, level 8 Seedot, level 8 Fisherman Ivan Magikarp, level 6 Magikarp, level 6 Magikarp, level 6 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~RUSTBORO CITY~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Items: X Defend, Premiere Ball, HM01, and Quick Claw Lots to do here, go talk to everyone, there are lots on knowledge and a few items to be collected. Next to the gym a little girl wants to trade her makuhita for your slakoth. Hopefully you picked up two slakoths like I suggested earlier. Makuhita is a pretty good fighting pokemon, and may be a good addition to your team. In addition fighting pokemon get a hefty experience bonus, so they level up very quick. On the downside if they level up too high they may disobey you, which is not good. Also, you can get your first HM, HM01 here, which is required for the game. HM01 is cut. It lets you cut down trees. But to use it you need the first gym badge and to have taught it to a pokemon. You can pick this up in the house next to the pokemon center. You have two options; you can go to the gym or you can do events. For the sake of the guide lets do the gym first. But if you do not feel you are ready you can continue to route 116 and get some more pokemon and train. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~GYM NUMBER 1- Rock ~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This is the rock gym and there are at least 5 pokemon you could have gotten so far that would be useful. Any of these would work, as rock is susceptible to rock and grass attacks: Surskit Treecko Mudkip Wingull Lotad Shroomish Try to have your pokemon around level 10. Makuhita with his arm thrust attack (level 10) could be useful. Problem is it will level up too much and will begin to disobey you, which is just annoying. Out of that list I would definitely suggest wingull if you do not have mudkip. Just use water/grass attacks on all the trainers and they should fall easy enough. You can go heal up in between fights also, so do not worry about having to start over. Youngster Josh Geodude, level 10 Geodude, level 8 Geodude, level 6 Water gun his geodudes to nothing. His sad rocks should go down in about 1 hit each. Youngster Tommy Geodude, level 11 He is not a challenge to water attacks either. Leader Roxanne Geodude, level 14 Nosepass, level 15 Things get interesting here. This geodude will take out Wingull and Surskit easily, due to his powerful rock attacks. So if you have mudkip it'll help, or a good grass pokemon. Nosepass is incredibly strong. The only real option is to pound it with grass and water attacks and hope you can hold out until it is dead. You may also want to use Makuhita if it comes to that. Congratulations on your first badge, the stone badge. It enables you to use the cut HM outside of battle, so you can cut down the little trees, which will enable you to get some old items. Roxanne also gives you TM39, which contains the rock tomb technique, which you probably saw her use in the battle. ----------- ----------- B. BADGE 2- ----------- ----------- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~RUSTBORO CITY~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Back in the city you will see a small event take place as you leave the gym vicinity. It appears the team Aqua/Magma got the "goods" he was looking for. After you heal up at the pokemon center and ready your team, go after him. He is at the top right of the town, the team Aqua/Magma member took the DEVON GOODS! Oh no! ~~~~~~~~~~~ ~ROUTE 115~ ~~~~~~~~~~~ Items: Super Potion Just quick stop; just collect the super potion, nothing else to do. If you have trouble finding it, it's on the back end of the beach. Go back to Rustboro and head to the right. ~~~~~~~~~~~ ~ROUTE 116~ ~~~~~~~~~~~ Pokemon: Whismur, Nincada, Zigzagoon, Taillow, and Skitty (rare) Pokemon are levels 5 to 8 Items: X Special, Repel and Ether Berries: 6 Pinap and 4 Chesto You need to use cut to reach some of the stuff. Make your way to the cave and talk to the old man. Apparently someone has stolen his Peeko! Yes, you probably know who took it. TRAINERS: Bug Catcher Jose Wurmple, level 8 Silcoon, level 8 Nincada, level 8 Youngster Joey Zigzagoon, level 8 Machop, level 10 Lass Janice Marill, level 10 Hiker Clark Geodude, level 8 Geodude, level 8 Geodude, level 8 *School Kid Jerry Ralts, level 10 *School Kid Karen Shroomish, level 9 Whismur, level 9 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~RUSTURF TUNNEL~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Pokemon: Whismur Pokemon are levels 6 to 7 Items: Pokeball Nothing to do but engage the scoundrel. Time to take back all that he has stolen. Should be an easy fight. Team Aqua/Magma Grunt Poochyena, level 11 After you smite him and his pooch he reluctantly hands over the Devon Goods. Then the old man comes in and reclaims his Peeko. His name is Mr. Briney and you will be seeing more of him soon. Nothing more to do in this cave, head back to Rustboro. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~RUSTBORO CITY~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Just give the guy back the goods (literally.) He will thank you with a great ball (yea...wow.) He then escorts you to the Devon Corporation where you get your next mission. Seems you have been hired without being asked. You need to deliver the goods to the shipyard in Staleport. Also you need to stop to deliver a letter to Steven in Dewford. As a pre-reward (yes, nothing like getting paid before you do the work) he gives you the pokenavi. NOTE: Comes back here after you deliver the letter and the goods for an EXP Share. This nifty device includes a map and some other interesting items, which should be pretty self-explanatory. But I will explain the more advanced features as we come to them. You need a ride to Dewford, head back to the docks on route 104. ~~~~~~~~~~~ ~ROUTE 104~ ~~~~~~~~~~~ Hop inside the old mans cottage and he will happily give you a ride to both places, but you must go to Dewford first. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~DEWFORD TOWN~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Items: Silk Scarf and Old Rod Talk to the fisherman for the old rod, he is walking around near where you disembark. Well you need the gym badge so you can use the flash HM (don't worry, we haven't gotten to getting it yet.) So head for the gym! To be prepared, do not take any normal type pokemon, and try to have a psychic pokemon such as Ralts. As it will devastate the feeble minded fighters. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~GYM NUMBER 2- FIGHTING ~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ TRAINERS: Battle Girl Laura Meditite, level 14 This is not a fighting pokemon, lying guy at the front of the gym. This is actually a psychic pokemon, you probably have no way to deal with this yet, so just beat it up using whatever you can. Battle Girl Tessa Meditite, level 12 Meditite, level 12 Machop, level 12 Yep, even more of the annoying non-fighter meditites. But they also have a real fighting pokemon, machop. Just use a strong pokemon for the meditites and a psychic for the machop. Black Belt Hideki Machop, level 14 Level 9 or greater ralts = dead machop *Leader Brawly Machop, level 17 Makuhita, level 18 I would recommend having a level 13 or so psychic pokemon. They should whoop him fairly easy. But he is still kind of tough. Brawly hands of the Knuckle Badge after you rip him a new one. This makes all pokemon up to level 30 obey you. So you can now use the traded makuhita without him disobeying you for a while. This also enables you to use flash to light up caves, which we will need shortly. He also gives you TM08, bulk up, which raises both attack and defense when used in battle. ----------- ----------- C. BADGE 3- ----------- ----------- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~DEWFORD TOWN~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Nothing new to do here, you may want to use your old rod to catch a magikarp and a tentacool if you want. Head north; time to deliver the letter. ~~~~~~~~~~~ ~ROUTE 106~ ~~~~~~~~~~~ Just fight the trainers and enter the cave. TRAINERS: Fisherman Ned Tentacool, level 12 *Fisherman Elliot Magikarp, level 11 Tentacool, level 8 Magikarp, level 11 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~GRANITE CAVE~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Level 1 Pokemon: Makuhita, Zubat, Geodude and Abra Level 1 Pokemon are levels 6 to 9 Level 1 Items: Escape Rope Level 2 Pokemon: Makuhita, Aron, Abra, Zubat, and Sableye (rare, sapphire) Level 2 Pokemon are levels 9 to 11 Level 2 Items: Pokeball Level 3 Pokemon: Zubat, Abra, Sableye, Aron and Nosepass (rock smash) Level 3 Pokemon are levels 10 to 12 Level 3 Items: Everstone Guy at entrance says he saw Steven go into the caves. He gives you HM05, flash, so you can also go through the caves with some light. Teach it to a pokemon and prepare to use it. Make your way through the caves; it should be plenty easy to figure out once you use flash. There are plenty of new pokemon here as well. I would suggest picking up a few, especially abra, aron, and sableye. Also, make sure you pick up a geodude, it will be instrumental for fighting the electric gym leader, which is still a bit away, but it is good to be prepared. Just make your way through the caves and talk to Steven. For your good work he gives you TM47, steel wing. Now go back to the docks in Dewford, and go on to the next city. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~SLATEPORT CITY~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Items: Soft Sand, Sooth Bell, and Pokeblock Case You can defeat the trainers in the beach house for 6 sodas. This is technically route 109 but I didn't feel a need to make a new section for it. You'll probably notice team aqua/magma surrounding a building; we will get in there soon enough. Buy a harbor mail the first chance you get as we will need it at the next city. Some lady in the contest house will give you an item if your pokemon love you. She gave me a Sooth Bell. Also, stop by the contest hall at the north end of town, a girl will give you a Pokeblock case, which you need for contests. After you do all that funky stuff, head to the large building with the boats near it. Talk to the man near the entrance and he will tell you to go find Captain Stern. Head to where you saw the team Aqua/Magma members earlier in the city. If you missed them it's a green building on the right side of town. You have to pay a few bucks when you enter; it's only $50. Talk to the first guy in front of you, it's the same guy you fought earlier. He is scared of you, so he gives you TM46 and then runs away. Head upstairs after that. Talk to the only person here, it is Captain Stern. He is happy to see the goods. But it looks like team Aqua/Magma has other plans for the Devon Goods, time to battle. Team Aqua/Magma Grunt Carvanha/Numel, level 15 Team Aqua/Magma Grunt Zubat, level 14 Carvanha/Numel, level 14 A higher member comes in after you defeat them and says they won't be so easy on you next time, but they will let you off because you are just a kid. Now that you have no more errands for now, back to your quest to become the pokemon master. Head north out of town. TRAINERS: Sailor Huey Machop, level 14 Sailor Edmond Wingull, level 12 Wingull, level 12 Machop, level 12 Sailor Dwayne Wingull, level 11 Machop, level 11 Tentacool, level 11 Tuber Simon Azurill, level 12 Marill, level 12 Beauty Johanna Goldeen, level 13 *Tuber Lola Azurill, level 13 Azurill, level 13 *Tuber Ricky Zigzagoon, level 14 Note: The name rater/changer is also in this town. ~~~~~~~~~~~ ~ROUTE 110~ ~~~~~~~~~~~ Pokemon: Electrike, Plusle, Zigzagoon, Minun, Wingull, Oddish, and Gulpin Pokemon are levels 12 to 13 Items: Dire Hit and Rare Candy Berry: 9 Nanab, 4 cheri, and 2 Leppa You can't use the bike route for now, so do not worry about it, we will be able to soon. Note, to get to the next area, you need to take a right at the trick house. But you can take a left at the trick house for some extra battles. I have included them in this section as well. As you head north, you will encounter your rival! Pokemon Trainer May/Brendan If you picked Tochic they will have: Shroomish, level 18 Marshtomp, level 20 Numel, level 18 If you picked Mudkip they will have: Wailmer, level 18 Grovyle, level 20 Numel, level 18 If you picked Treecko they will have: Combusken, level 20 Shroomish, level 18 Wailmer, level 18 Wailmer is water and Numel is fire. I recommend geodude for Numel and just about any pokemon with a decent grass move for wailmer. You probably don't have a lot of ways for dealing with shroomish. Marshtomp is part ground so don't use electric attacks, but grass attacks will whoop him. Combusken won't be a problem if you have any decently high water pokemon. Grovyle might be tough, but do your best. As reward for winning, you get the itemfinder. Continue Up Another note, if you try to get a perfect score on the bike course with the mach bike you get nothing... Stinks. Also pick up a bike at the bike shop. You can exchange your bike for another bike at any time. There are two bikes, acro and mach. The mach bike is for speed and the acro bike is for tricks, we will need the acro bike later, but for now pick whatever one you would like, they both have their uses. Stop at the casino, you need a coin case. To get one go back to Slateport and buy harbor mail if you didn't buy one as I previously instructed. Give it to the girl in the first house. Eventually you will make your way to the submarine room and have to fight off a slightly tougher grunt, but he should still fall easily to your might. You can get a wailmer doll in one of the houses as a gift. A karate guy will give you TM31 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~CAVE OF ORIGIN~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The cave is very simple, just travel around, pick up HM07 as well. Then time to fight and collect the legendary, MAKE SURE YOU CATCH HIM! You only get one chance to get him. Then rock smash the first rock you come to and go up the stairs and cross the bridge. Go down the other stairs and go all the way down and to your left to enter the next ladder. Now go up and use surf. Use waterfall to go up the...waterfall. Then go left and go down the waterfall. And then go right and use the ladder. on the island. Now go down and to your right (don't jump off ledge). Smash the top left rock and then move the boulder where the rock you smashed just was. Then smash the other rock and then go up to the ladder. Go up the stairs and go across the bridge, then go down the stairs and go up. Near the exit Wally will fight you. SKY PILLAR ------------- ------------- Pokemon: Claydol, Golbat, Mawile (ruby), and Sableye (sapphire) Pokemon are levels 48 to 53 You need the mach bike for this. Go east from Pacifidlog Town and hug the north, eventually you should come to a island cave entrance. Go in and enter the sky pillar. On the second floor of the sky pillar you need to use the mach bike to cross the shattering floors or you will fall to the previous floor. You have to go the whole way at once or you will not get enough momentum and you will crash through, took me about 20 tries to get across. The third floor is easy again. The fourth is another mach bike annoying event. You have to intentionally fall through the far on the far side of the room to reach the stairs on the floor below. The fifth floor is also easy. And the sixth floor is where you meet your destination! Rayquaza, The sky dragon! And he is level 70! I hope you are prepared for potentially the hardest catch in the game. This may be a good time to use the masterball but I would save it for latios/latias. I must congratulate you on capturing this monstrosity! --------- --------- K. REGIS --------- --------- Head west from Pacifidlog Town Keep south until you get to a spot you can dive to surrounded by rocks Dive When you see Braille dive up When you are in the cavern go up to the Braille at the end and use dig in front of it If you go inside the place you dug up with a Relicanth in front and a wail lord last in your team you will unlock the three chambers to the Regis Wailord, which is the evolved form of Wailmer at level 40 Relicanth can be found where the grass is in the ocean floor around Sootopolis City. From the route in between Petalburg and its forest surf to the sea go to the very west and go north. You will see a chamber. Walk in front of Braille and stand there for a few minutes after you wait regi ice's room will be revealed. You need go goggles to reach the desert. You will easily find the chamber. Enter and from in front of the Braille go right, right, down, down and use strength. The regi rock's room will be revealed. Regi steel is in route 120. You will eventually find the chamber. LATIOS/LATIAS ----------------- ----------------- After you defeat the elite 4 and head downstairs in your house, you will see a show speaking of a mysterious pokemon flying around this is Latias/Latios. In Ruby version, Latios will be random. In Sapphire version, Latias will be random. When they appear they will be level 40. As you walk around in tall grass or surf in the oceans you have a small chance of seeing them. They will run from battle, so make sure to have a move that will prevent escape. The trick to seeing them is using repel and putting a high level pokemon (less that 40) and walking around. This will make it so low level annoying pokemon will not both you. The trick most people are using is using the acro bike with repel. Go into a grassy area next to a building. Hold down B to hop for a couple of minutes, and go inside and come out and do this until Latios/Latias appears. You can get the Latios/Latias not usually in your version on the southern island, but there is no way currently to get the Eon ticket (what you need to get there) legitimately, and I do not suggest or will I provide the cheat codes for it. ---------------- ---------------- M. CONTESTS- ------------ Contests are fairly simple. You enter your pokemon in a contest in hopes of winning a ribbon, there is no other prize, it is just a mini-game. There are two rounds to each contest, in the first round your pokemon is judges by its stat in the contest in comparison to the other contestants, so the hire the contest stat you are in, the more love you get. Of course, to raise this stat you must feed the pokemon pokeblocks you get from using the berry blender. The second part is the real challenge. You must perform moves your pokemon knows. Each move has its own type besides the elemental, and performing moves that are the same type as the contest you are in will get you additional points. If you are the fifth person to make the crowd go wild you get a ton of points. Each move has an appeal rating and you will get that many points for performing that move. Performing the same move twice in a row will also decrease the amount of appeal/points you will receive. Power up moves also does work so you can execute combinations. Several moves can remove stars from the other contests or make them not participate at all. Feebas Section- ------------------- Feebas is one of the most elusive pokemon in the game. So I thought it would be a good idea to include him in the guide as people have so much trouble to catch him. Feebas only appears on route 119 by fishing. To make it even more difficult he only appears on certain tiles, meaning you need at least surf and/or waterfall. There are 6 tiles it will appear on. He appears on these tiles about 75% of the time. It can be caught with ANY rod. The tiles stay the same unless you change your Dewford Town trend. My strategy is to fish in two to three tiles in every row, this will be less time consuming and you still have a pretty good chance in finding one of the six tiles. To evolve feebas you need to max out its beauty score and level it once. If it does not evolve then you did not raise his beauty score enough. Of course, you must raise the beauty score with pokeblocks. Blue pokeblocks will raise the score the most. ------------------------------ 12. Ruby/Sapphire Differences- ------------------------------ In ruby the bad team is team magma and in sapphire the bad team is team aqua. In ruby the bad team uses Numel/Camerupt and in sapphire they use Carvanha/Sharpedo. In ruby the bad team awakens Groundon and in sapphire they wake Kyogre. In ruby the bad team tries to make the volcano explode and in sapphire they try to make the volcano become dormant. In ruby version, after you defeat the elite 4, Latios becomes random, and Latias is at the southern island.
