GENERAL POKEMON | \_______________________________________________/ ================================================= 1. What Is Pokemon? ================================================= Pokemon is short for Pocket Monsters, which was a trend that nintendo started many years ago. When it came to America it was released as a tv series and two games, Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue. These games immediately began popular, and everyone soon knew what pokemon was. It spread quickly and is one of the largest money making trends ever created. Soon nintendo began releasing more games in the series, along with side games such as Pokemon Pinball and Pokemon Stadium. Then nintendo released the Trading Card Game and pokemon began to grow faster than before. Millions and millions of cards were sold in the first year and the cards began to grow in worth. Some cards even averaged over $300! Then nintendo began releasing more booster packs for the TCG and more seasons on the show. After about 3 years, the pokemon trend began to slow down, but it is still hot to this day. ================================================= 2. The Games ================================================= Here is a list of all of the current pokemon games and a short descriptions about them: Pokemon Red / Pokemon Blue - Game Boy - The first two pokemon games released. They feature the first 151 pokemon in a quest to catch them all. Contains a total of eight gyms. Pokemon Yellow - Game Boy - This is the unique in the red/blue set. It contains the same game but in this you begin with pikachu who follows you around on the screen. It also features a few minigame extras and a new opening. It features a total of 251 pokemon and 8 new gyms. It also allows you to travel to the old land to revisit the first 8 gyms meaning there is a total of 16 gyms! Pokemon Crystal - Game Boy - This is the unique in the gold/silver set. It features the same game with a few new features such as pokemon battle animations when you enter a battle. Pokemon Stadium - N64 - The first stadium game which features the first 151 pokemon. You battle in a 3d arena against the computer or your friends with great battle animations. Allows connection to the gameboy games red, blue, and yellow to trade and battle with the pokemon on that game pak. Pokemon Stadium 2 - N64 - The second stadium game which features the first 251 pokemon. Just like the first but with more minigames and features. Allows connection to red, blue, yellow, gold, silver, and crystal. Pokemon Puzzle League - N64 - Just like super tetris, you play by switching two blocks and win by matching 3 or more. WALKTHROUGH | \_______________________________________________/ Here is a complete walkthrough of the game that includes everything neccesary to completing the game (and a few side things also). Enjoy, and if you find any errors or comments feel free to email me them. Thanks. ___________________________ / \ | a. The Beginning | \___________________________/ When you first start the game you will get the opening credits and then the intro. You will then be taken to the start menu screen. If this is your first time playing you will have two options, new game and options, otherwise you will also have a continue option. Click new game will take you to a screen where Professor Birch talks to you. Here is his speech: ----------------------------------- Hi! Sorry to keep you waiting! Welcome to the world of Pokemon! My name is Birch. But everyone calls me the Pokemon Professor. This is what we call a "Pokemon". ~* Professor Birch Releases a Azurill *~ This world is widely inhabited by creatures known as Pokemon. We humans live alongside Pokemon, at times as friendly as playmates, and at times as cooperative as workmates. And sometimes we band together and battle others like us. But despite our closeness, we don't know everything about Pokemon. In fact, there are many, many secrets surrounding Pokemon. To unravel Pokemon mysteries, I've been undertaking research. That's what I do. And you are? Are you a boy? Or are you a girl? ##Menu## Boy Girl ##End Menu## All right. What's your name? ##Menu - Girl## New Name Marina Kimmy Nicola Sara ##End Menu - Girl## ##Menu - Boy## New Game Sean Ter======ry Seth Tom ##End Menu - Boy## So it's ((Enter Name Here))? ##Menu## Yes No ##End Menu## Ah, okay! You're ((Enter Name Here)) who's moving to my hometown of Littleroot. I get it now! All right, are you ready? Your very own adventure is about to unfold. Take courage, and leap into the world of Pokemon where dreams, adventure, and friendships await! Well, I'll be expecting you later. Come see me in my Pokemon Lab. ----------------------------------- And thus the game begins! ___________________________ / \ | b. The Story Starts | \___________________________/ When you begin you will view yourself bouncing along in a moving truck, along with some bouncing boxes. Soon the truck will come to a stop and a door to the right will open, letting some sunlight in. If you check the boxes you will find they are labeled with a delivery service logo. Now walk into the light and you will hop out of the back of the truck. You will find yourself in front of a house. A door will open and your mom will come out and tell you that this house is your new home. Then she will invite you inside and you and her will automatically walk inside. Upon entering you will see several Machoke helping you to move in. Your mom will comment on how nice it is to have their help. Then she will tell you to go upstairs to your room and set the new clock that your dad has bought for you. Walk straight upstairs and you will find yourself in your new bedroom, complete with its own tv, gamecube, and computer. Walk to the click on the wall and press A to be taken to the screen where you will set your item. Use the control pad to move the hands and then press A to set it. Make sure you set it correct as to certain events happen at certain times. You mom will then walk in and say that everything is in neat order and that you have finished moving in. When you walk downstairs she will call you to the T.V. and show you a report about the Petalburg Gym, and tell you that your Dad may be on. But then she finds it is over. Then she tells you that one of your dad's friends lives in town and that you should visit him next door. So walk outside of your house and visit the house right next to yours (to the right if you are a boy, and to the left if you are a girl). As you walk in the house their mom will ask your name and then tell you that there is a kid your age upstairs. If you walk upstairs you will find May (if you're a guy), and Brendon (if you're a girl). Talk to them and they will say that are Prof. Birch's kid. They will then run off to an errand and you can now leave. Now walk out of the house and go straight up. A smalbl kid in blue will talk to you and tell you how Prof. Birch needs help. So run up and you will see him being chased by a Poochyena, run to his backpack and pick one of three pokemon, but pick carefully because this will be your starting pokemon! [ Sapphire Island Dex Info: Starters] Potential Starters: Treecko - Wood Gecko Pokemon - Grass Type Torchic - Chick Pokemon - Fire Type Mudkip - Mud Fish Pokemon - Water Type Each one has it's own strengths and weaknesses, but if you are new to pokemon and want an easier time near the beginning, Mudkip is the preferred starter. You will then find yourself in a battle with a Wild Poochyena. It is only level 2 so it is an easy fight. Just use your primary attack (Your upper left one) twice and you will defeat him in 2 hits and he will only do 2 damage to you. You will gain 15 EXP points from the battle and then Birch will tell you how he was out studying in the grass when he was attacked. He will thank you and then take you back to his lab where he will tell you that you can keep the pokemon you chose to fight with. Then he'll tell you that you should go visit his child way up north. Now leave his lab and continue north past where Birch was being attacked all the way through route 101. You may fight some wild pokemon on the way, which is good at this point so don't run unless you're low on health. Soon you will end up in a small town called Oldale Town. Here you will find two houses, each that teach you about battle, a pokemon center to heal your pokemon, and a mart. [ Sapphire Island Dex Info: Oldale Mart] Items To Buy - Price - Description Potion - ¥300 - Restores the HP of a Pokemon by 20 points. Antidote - ¥100 - Heals a poisoned Pokemon. Paralyze Heal - ¥200 - Heals a paralyzed Pokemon. Awakening - ¥250 - Awakens a sleeping Pokemon. Now continue north after healing your pokemon to Route 103. Here there is more grass to train your pokemon. Fight here until your pokemon is at Level 7. Then heal, buy 3 - 5 potions, and continue all the way to the top of Route 103 and fight your Rival. They are an easy defeat with using your primary attack. [ Sapphire Island Dex Info: Rival Pokemon] Possible Rival Pokemon You Chose Mudkip - Rival: Treecko You Chose Treecko - Rival: Torchic You chose Tochic - Rival: Mudkip Their pokemon is still at level 5 so you should not have to use any potions. For winning you will get 69 EXP points and ¥300. They will head down to the lab so you should just follow the path south. They will meet you at the top of Route 101 and tell you to return to the lab so continue down and go inside the lab. You wil then be talked to by Birch and given a Pokedex. This item can be accessed by the start menu and shows all the pokemon you've seen and caught. May / Brendon will then give you 5 PokeBalls and tell you that its fun to catch more pokemon. You can now leave the lab and talk to your mother outside of the house. She will give you the Running Shoes which allow you to hold down the B button to run faster! Now you can start the quest for the first badge! ___________________________ / \ | c. To Rustboro! | \___________________________/ Now that you have the running shoes you can fly to victory. Return to Oldale Town and take a visit to the pokemon center if you need to. Now, instead of going up, this time take a left and you'll end up on Route 102. Continue on to the left avoiding the trees an soon you'll have a few trainers battle you. The following pokemon are the ones you will encounter: [ Sapphire Island Dex Info: Route 102 Trainers] Pokemon To battle Zigzagoon - Level 5 Wurmple - Level 4 Wurmple - Level 4 Poochyena - Level 5 Taillow - Level 3 Zigzagoon - Level 4 Zigzagoon - Level 4 because the pokemon are low level the only problem you will have will be that there are many of them that you have to fight. But because each trainer only have 1 or 2 pokemon with them, you can easily go back to Oldale to heal. Soon, near the top, you will encounter two small wierd looking trees. They will give you two Pecha berries and two Oran berries. These will cure poison and heal 10 HP automatically if you make your pokemon hold them. You may want to pick them and keep them with you for now. Now continue to the left, grabbing the potion near the bottom if you want to. Soon you will end up at... Petalburg City! This city is much larger than the beginning towns and contains many more place. (Check the Towns page for more info, including a map). At this point you may want to visit the Pokemon Center and then just explore. If you go near the bottom left you'll see a new cool effect of this game, a reflection in the water! If you go to the upper left a man will take you to the gym and tell you to look for the gym sign whenever you are in a town. Now enter the gym and talk to the man in the middle of the room, which turns out to be none other than your dad! He will congratulate you and say you will be just like him. Then Wally will come in and say that he wants a pokemon. Your dad will give him a Zigzagoon and a pokeball and tell you to make sure he safely catches a pokemon. He will lead you to the grass and you will encounter a wild Ralts. His Zigzagoon will do about half damage and then the Ralts will use growl. Then the Zigzagoon will use tackle a second time and bring the Ralts down to yellow health. Then Wally will call him back and throw a pokeball, catching the Raltz. Then Wally will thank you and he will take you back to the gym. Then Wally will thank you and your dad and then leave because his mom is calling. Next, your dad will tell you to head to Rustboro and challenge the gym leader and get the badge and then go on to challenge other gym leaders. Now you can leave the gym and back outside into Petalburg. Now you can go into the house in the upper left and you'll find that it contains Wally's parents. Talk to them if you want to learn a little bit more. Now back to training. Your starter pokemon should be at LEAST level 10 by now, and if he isnt, then it would be best to head back to route 102 and continue training. Also now you want to have a second pokemon, so the best choice at this time would be to go to route 103 and catch a Wingull. They are flying and water which will help later on. If you started with Mudkip then you can choose another pokemon to capture, but at this point, a Wingull is the best choice. Head back to Petalburg if you aren't there already and visit the mart. You will want to buy at least 2 Antidote's, a few potions, and maybe a few pokeballs if you would like. Now go further left and you will end up on Route 104. Here you will find 2 Pecha Berries and 2 Oran berries like before. There are also 2 trainers here and the pokemon you will are are: [ Sapphire Island Dex Info: Route 104 Trainers] Pokemon To battle Zigzagoon - Level 7 Seedot - Level 6 Taillow - Level 8 If you explore this place more you will find that it is a beach. There is a fishing house (which is empty at the moment) and to the north is an entrance to the woods. The grass here contains pokemon that are about level 5 so you can train here if you need to, and maybe also add another pokemon to your lineup. Now once you are ready to continue, head north into the Petalburg Woods, where you will see that it looks just like some woods should, a lot of trees. Go a little bit to the left to find a trainer. His pokemon are weak but he has SIX of them. They are all level 3 Wurmple's so it's nothing new, you should easily be able to one hit K.O. them all. Head a little bit up and grab the pokeball on the left, it's a Paralyze heal. By now you may have fought one of several new pokemon you havn't encountered before, such as a slackoth. These too are nothing to worry about. Now go to the right and then up and you'll see a guy looking for a shroomish. He will be attacked by a team aqua member (note, this is only for the sapphire version, it will be a team magma member in ruby), and he will ask for your help. He has a level 9 Poochyena which is a big step up, but should be an easy defeat if you've been training. You will then get a thanks and a great ball from the Devon Researcher. Then he will run off saying he can't be wasting time. Continue up and left, past the kid, and you'll find another trainer. He uses a level 8 Nincada, which may be a challenge. Just attack relentlessly to win. If he leach life's you too much then use one of your potions in your pack. Go straight up and grab the pokeball sitting there, which contains an ether. This item heals a pokemon's PP in an attack. Now go to the right and take a north turn. You'll end up on Route 104 on the other side of the forest. Talk to the walking kid and he will give you TM 09, Bullet Seed. I wouldn't suggest teaching it to a pokemon though. Now go into the building just to the north. If you talk to the people you will learn about berries and planting them and having them grow. Talk to the lady at the top and you'll recieve the Wailmer Pail, which is very important. You can use to it water berries. Then talk to the lady at the right to recieve a Cheri Berry. Now exit the flower shop and take the small path to the left of it up. Here you will find some grass and a potion. In the grass you will find some Taillow if you have an interest for flying pokemon. Now go back down and to the right and you'll fight another trainer. She uses a level 7 Zigzagoon which is an easy battle. Continue further right to find another trainer who uses a level 7 Lotad and a level 7 Shroomish. Try to take them down quickly before they lower your attack too much or stun you. Now go onto the bridge and go all the way up. If your pokemon are healed and at a decent level, you can talk to the twins to fight your first 2 on 2 battle! They will use a level 8 Lotad and Seedot so watch out! At the top of the bridge is a man in red. He uses three level 6 Magikarps. Now talk to the grandma to the right to recieve yet ANOTHER berry. If you would like to make your pokemone hold one of these you can, as to some such as the Paralyze cure berry automatically unparalyzes a pokemon if it's holding it. Now you can continue north into... Rustboro city! Its quite a large city with many places to check out. In the next section we will get to your very first badge. Along with the quest to get the legendary, so very helpful... PokeNavi! ___________________________ / \ | d. Pair of Badges | \___________________________/ Now that you are in Rustboro it's a good chance that you have at LEAST two pokemon. This will provide you with enough strength and backup to get through a 6 pokemon trainer. One of those pokemonn (Prefereably your starter) should be around level 16 and should be evolved. Your second should be at least level 10. Now that you are ready head near the top of the town and enter the gym. This is a rock gym which is why you should have the water starter, or a wingull on your team. Put them on first and walk straight up, (If you are in a hurry you can go around the two trainers, but it is HIGHLY suggested that you fight them for the experience points). The first trainer will use two level 10 Geodudes, and a level 6 geodude. If you have a water pokemon with water gun, this will be a very quick battle without you getting a scratch. Next head up and fight the second trainer. This one has only 1 pokemon but it is a level 11 geodude. After that quick battle, if you need to then go back to the pokemon and heal. Otherwise, head straight up and talk to Roxanne and prepare for your first gym leader battle! Gym leader One - Raxanne Level 14 Geodude (Beware of Rock Tomb) Level 15 Nosepass (Beware of Rock Tomb, and ULTIMATELY HIGH DEFENSE) Also, Roxanne may use some potions on her pokemon so if you think you've won, dont be so sure. because both of those are rock pokemon, the best and probably only way to beat her with a low level pokemon (under 20) would be water attacks. If you have no water pokemon you should return to route 103 and catch a Wingull, or get multiple other types. A second strategy would be to use a grass pokemon found in the forest or above the forest, but because grass type moves are effect based, they dont pack as much of a wallop in one attack. A third strategy is to get a LARGE amount of potions and continuously attack and then use a potion. This may work but would take longer than the other 2 methods. After winning you will be presented with the stone badge. A second item you get it TM 39, which contains the dangerous Rock Tomb attack. Now you can leave the gym and take a left. You will be interupted by a Team Aqua (once again, this is for the sapphire version) Member being chased by the Devon Researcher. Follow him up and you'll run into him again. He will ask for your help once more so just pass him and go further to the right. You will end up on Route 106 which contains some grass and a large amount of trainers. First go down and take the bottom fork and grab the Repel in the pokeball. Continue a little bit further to the right and get into a battle with the first trainer of this Route. He will use a level 8 Wurmple, a level 8 Nincada, and a level 8 Silcoon. Its an easy win but you should watch out for the Nincada's poison sting as to it can immediately poison you. Next continue a little to the right and go to the sign. Go up and then to the left to fight the trainer that was on the top. He will use a level 8 Zigzagoon, and a level 10 Machop. This trainer too, like the others, are an easy win if you are constantly training and leveling up your pokemon. Now go back to the right, down, and further to the right to fight the female trainer with blue hair. She only has one pokemon but it's an Adorable level 10 Marill. After that defeat continue to the right to fight yet another trainer. This trainer will use 3 level 8 geodudes so if you only have normal type pokemon left then it's not a good idea to fight without healing/catching another pokemon. Now continue on and you'll see a house blocked by a man and a cave entrance with an old man near it. Enter the cave and ahead you will see an Aqua member. (Note: There are many Whismur in this cave so if you want one then its a great place to get one. Also as you enter, in the upper left there is a pokeball containing... well.... a pokeball! Snatch that and then go after the team aqua member. You will end up in an easy battle with his level 11 Poochyena. After winning you will receive Devon's Goods and the old man will come in and take back his Wingull. He will then go back to the cottage near the sea that was previously empty. You can now leave this cave because you need rock smash to continue any further. After going out you can now enter the blocked house, but it turns out to be useless and just a place for the workers. Now go back to the left, through the grass, taking a minute to train your pokemon if you need to. Once you reach the city you will go by the Devon Researcher who will stop you. Then he will stop you and take you to the Devon Headquarters. He will ask you to deliver the package to the ship port. Then you will talk to Mr. Stone, the president of Devon Corporations and he will give you a letter to deliver. In return you will get the PokeNav! This contains a map, your pokemon contest stats, and the trainers eye which lists all the trainers. Now exit the large building by going down 2 floors and then out the door. You will be back in Rustboro City. First think you should do is go to the pokemon center and to the house directly left of it. Talk to the man at the table and recieve HM01 - Cut. This allows you to cut down the very small trees out of battle. The best pokemon to teach this to at this moment is Zigzagoon although there are a few others that work. Now go back south, across the bridge, (grab the pokeball with X accuracy to the right after crossing the bridge by using cut on the small tree) and through the forest. You can easily skip most by hoping over the ledges in the middle. Once you exit the forest go to the beach and into the building next to the dock and the boat. Talk to the old man and say yes and he will take you into his boat and sail you to Deford Town. Go near the bottom to the man in striped red clothes and talk to him. He will give you the Old Rod. This allows you to fish for water pokemom, and he will tell you how to use it. Next go into the house next to the dock and talk to the man at the table. He will give you the silk scarf. Now its time for the second gym! Enter the gym (near the bottom of the island) and you will see that it is really dark. Just go straight up until you hit a wall. Next go all the way to the right until you fight a trainer. They will use a level 14 meditate, so watch out. After beating her the light around you will grow a small bit bigger. This will help you to see. Next go straight up until you hit a wall. Then go left until you get to an opening on the top and button. Go straight up untill you hit a wall. Then go right till you hit a wall, down, right, and then up to get the the leader. This leads you past 2 trainers but if you want you can go back and fight them for experience first. Now onto the gym leader! Gym Leader Two - Brawly Level 17 Machop Level 18 Makuhita As you can see this will be a much harder battle for you. You should definitely have at least 3 pokemon, with one at 18+ and the other 2 at 14+. Without enough skill and a little luck you will end up beating him. For beating him you will recieve... the Knuckle Badge! Also you will receive TM 08, which contains Bulk Up. It raises both your attack and defense so it's great for a stat raising move. Now exit the gym back onto the island. Visit the pokemon center to heal and prepare for the cave exploring next time! ___________________________ / \ | e. Delivered Goods | \___________________________/ Now that you have two badges on your belt, head north on the island. Soon you will end up on Route 106. Theres a trainer facing down so fight him first. All he has is a level 12 Tentacool so he should be a breeze with the right attack. Now head up and to the left and you will encounter a second fisherman trainer. He'll use two level 11 Magikarp, level 8 Tentacool, meaning that he is only a little harder than the preceding trainer. Now you should be able to see a cave so go up to it and enter. Talk to the man at the door to receive HM 05, Flash. If you don't have a pokemon that can learn it, GET ONE! At this point there arent very many pokemon that can learn Flash you should catch a Wurmple and evolve it to it's final stage at level 10. Then it can use flash (it doesn't matter which way you evolve it). Another way to do this is to run around in the cave you are in and catch an abra. because it will teleport away as soon as it can, you should just throw a great ball without attacking. There is a high chance of you catching it like this. Now that you are equipped, head to the left and go down the ladder. You will end up in a very dark cave. Use FLASH to light up your way a bit. Now head up and to the right a bit and turn down as soon as you can. You will find a pokeball. Grab it and head back up. If you encounter any Aron on your way you should grab it as soon as you can because it evolves into the great steel/rock type pokemon, Aggron. It itself is already part steel and part rock so that alone will help a lot. Now follow the path to the right and go down the next ladder. Now head up and all the way to the leff, up the stairs, and to the right. On your way go up the stairs and you'll see a rock on top a ledge. Stand on the tile beneath the rock, face up, and press A. You'll find a very useful... EVERSTONE! This, when given to a pokemon, makes it so that they never evolve. This is a great advantage because unevolved pokemon learn moves before their evolved counterparts. The downside is that the pokemon dont get the boost from the evolution. But if you ever want it to evolve just take the stone off and get a level up (Beware, a level 100 unevolved pokemon can never evolve). Now continue to the right and head up the ladder. Then go up the ladder that is just to the left of you. Run all the way left and then down and out the cave door. You'll encounter a man named steven, who you will deliver the letter from Mr. Stone to. He will thank you and give you TM 47: Steel Wing out of gratitude. He will leave immediately. Follow his lead and head out the same way you came in. Run back to Dewford Town and take a trip to the pokemon center if you need to. Now go to the sailor and he will have a new option to sail you to... Slateport! If you are ready and have your pokemon trained then choose this option! Then, after a bit of sailing, you'll end up on the beach of Route 109! There are a few trainers around here so fight them to get the much needed experience. You'll fight a level 14 Machop, a level 14 Zigzagoon, two Level 12 Wingull, a level 12 Machop, and two level 13 Azurill, . Then enter the seafood house and talk to the man straight up. He says if you defeat all the trainers in the room, you'll recieve a prize. The pokemon you will fight are about the same as the ones on the beach, so it's nothing new. Most of them are even weaker and are around level 11. For winning you'll recieve a whipping 6 soda pops. These each restore 60 HP, so its like 3 potions in each one, a great grab for just beating a few trainers. Now you can exit here and head up into Slateport City. Now find the building with the group of team aqua/magma members gathered around it and go to the building directly beneath it. Talk to the man directly up and then head back to the building that had the large group around it and enter it. You will have to pay ¥50 to get in but it's worth it. Now talk to the member a few steps ahead of you and he will give you TM 46 - Thief. It may steal an opponent's item while attacking. Now go upstairs and talk to the man looking at the boat model. Two members will come and attack you one by one. The first will send out a Carvanna, and the second will use a Zubat and a Carvanna. Then after their defeat their leader will make their way to you and tell you that if you meddle in their affairs once more, there will be consequences. Then you will hand over the Devon Goods to Captain Stern. He will then leave without giving you a reward (rude eh)? Now head out and go into the Slateport contest house which is up and to the left of the pokemon center. It has blue walls and a red roof. Talk to the girl on the left and you'll get the pokeblock case, which allows you to store pokeblocks you get from blending berries. This contest house you cannot enter untill you win the normal and super houses first. Now that you have the pokeblock case, you have everything you need in this town. Before moving on it may be a great idea to catch and train your current and new pokemon, because we have a rival battle coming up. ___________________________ / \ | f. A Faster Travel | \___________________________/ Now that you are all healed head north. You will end up at Route 110. If you visit here before doing the previous actions, you will end up being blocked by team magma/team aqua. At the very left when you walk in there is a patch of grass which is perfect to train in. You should have 3 high level pokemon at this point, because you will soon fight your rival who has 2 level 18 pokemon, and a level 20 pokemon. Continue up after you are finished with training (if you chose to), and soon you'll run into a trainer, PokeFan Isabel. She uses the duo team of Plusle and Minun, each at level 15. These are electric pokemon and will paralyze your pokemon if you do not defeat them quickly. After a win head up and you'll end up at a large house known as the trick house. This house is a special house that contains a new puzzle each time you get a badge and come back. If you would like to do the first puzzle, head in and stand on the upper right chair and face the table and press A. You'll find the trick master who will then tell you to enter through the scroll. Do so to find yourself in the first maze. A walkthrough for this house will be posted in it's on section later on. Now exit here (if you entered) and head left. It will take you to route 103. You'll find 4 or 5 trainers here, using pokemon such as a level 16 roselia, level 16 skitty, and a level 15 magikarp. There are also a few weak pokemon such as a level 10 tentacool, and even a level 5 magikarp which cannot hurt you. Also in here are the twins May and Liv, who will use a level 16 Plusle and a level 16 Minun. Watch out for their 'Helping Hand' attack which will raise each other's power tremendously. If you use cut you will also find yourself a Guard Spec, and afew Cheri Berries and Leppa Berries. One you are finished here go back towards the trick house to return to route 110. Now head to the right through the grass, and you'll find another trainer. If you are anxious to carry on, then you can go ahead and go around him. Now head up and you'll be surprised by your rival who will fight your for your second rival battle. Here is a small guide to tell you what they will use depending on your starting pokemon. [ Sapphire Island Dex Info - Rival Battle Two ] Rival Pokemon (( Your Starter: Treecko )) Level 18 Wailmer: Water Level 18 Shroomish: Grass Level 20 Combusken: Fire / Fighting (( Your Starter: Torchic )) Level 18 Shroomish: Grass Level 18 Numel: Fire / Ground Level 20 Mudkip: Water / Ground (( Your Starter: Mudkip )) Level 18 Wailmer: Water Level 18 Numel: Fire / Ground Level 20 Grovyle: Grass This battle will be by far the hardest battle you have had to fight so far. Make sure to have a few potions on hand, and maybe, if you can, a few revives. A good idea is to have a few pokemon that you cans end out and while they are being pummeled, you can use items to heal your weak pokemon. After you win your rival will award you with the itemfinder, which searches for hidden items within the area you can see. Hidden items are the ones that show no sign of being there, but if you press A in the right spot, you will find the hidden item. Most of the times these can be great items such as super potions, revives, great balls, and even rare candies. Once you have managed to beat your rival, continue heading upward, then left, then upward again. There will be a few trainers on your way, all with pokemon around level 13 - 16. Once you reach the top there will be a trainer between some trees, he's an optional trainer to fight but it's best to fight him to get the experience from him. Above him there are 3 berry plants, each with 2 Nanab Berries on each. After picking them it's a good idea to plant 3 of them here so they will grow into more (be sure to water them). Then you will still have 3 left, and many more to come back and pick. Now you can head up into the city of Mauville. Once you enter you'll be amazed that this small town is called a city. There are many things to do here though. First of all head to the pokemon center for a healing. Your pokemon may need it (if not, then just skip ahead). Now, first thing you should do is to go to the gym! Wally is in front of it, and you'll have to go through him first. Just talk to him and you'll have to fight his 'unstoppable' Ralts. This is a very simple battle, so just enter the gym after if there wasn't anything. Maybe sure you have a pokemon such as a ground type to fight this electrifying gym. All the pokemon in here are electric and are levels 17 - 19. When you enter, fight the trainer 2 steps left of the S. DO NOT STEP ON THE S. Then fight the trainer in the blue hat that is 2 steps up and one step left. Then head to the trainer thats standing near the upper right poll. Once you are through with these three then step on the UPPER LEFT S, this will open and way to the trainer on the right. Fight them and then head up the middle to get to the leader. [ Sapphire Island Dex Info - Gym Battle 3 ] Wattson Level 22 Magnemite - Electric / Steel Level 20 Voltorb - Electric Level 23 Magneton - Electric / Steel This may be a hard battle but if you attack with groun moves such as mud shot, you'll find this a very easy battle. Be sure not to use any water, flying, or other pokemon that have a large weakness to electricity. Once you win this battle you'll receive the Dynamo badge (increased speed, allows the use of HM 06), and the Shock Wave TM (TM 34), which is a great electric attack with a perfect aim. Now you can exit the gym and get onto better and more fun things. First of all, head to the bike shop. You will be given a bike, which you can trade for the other. The mach bike has more speed but is harder to the control. The acro bike has less speed but has more control and can do tricks. Once you have a bike (I suggest the faster one for now) head down to route 110 and enter the first house you encounter. Go through and onto the bike ramp. Head down it and fight the trainers on the way. You'll fight many level 7 to level 17 electric pokemon. Once you get down you can see your speed and the amount of collisions you've had. My high score is 8.xx seconds with 0 collisions. With a few times practice, it's simple to get a perfect run. You can always check your top score by looking at the sign to the right at the end. Now go through the house and down into Slateport City. Go to the mart and grab a harbor mail or two for ¥50. Now head back up the way you came all the way into Mauville. Head into the house to the left of the mart and talk to the lady. You can trade her a harbor mail for a coin case. Now head to the large purple building and to the counter. You can buy coins here. Then you can use the machines and tables to play two games to get more. The games aren't very fun, but can get your attentions for awhile. Make sure to talk to one of the ladies at the top to get a doll for your upcoming... secret base! The doll will be the starter that you chose at the beginning of the game, Mudkip, Treecko, or Torchic. Now you can play here or head, out, your choice. Next up... on to Verdanturf Town! ___________________________ / \ | g. Through The Ash | \___________________________/ Now you should be all the way done with Mauville City. So now hop on your bike and drive to the left. It will take you immediately to Route 117. As you enter there will be the daycare near the top. This daycare will take up to two of your pokemon, and as you ride/walk around they will gain experience. Also if you give a male and female pokemon that are compatible, you could end up being the owner of a pokemon egg, that will hatch into an earlier form of one of the Parents. So if you have 2 pokemon in the computer you want to be trained, just drop them off here. Then, head around the group of trees further to the left to fight a few trainers. They will all use pokemon that are around level 12 - 18, meaning it will not be much of a challenge. There will also be a group of twins who will use a Level 16 Zigzagoon and a level 18 Makuhita. The moves these pokemon possess aren't much, so it should be an easy challenge. Next to them there is a group of 3 Wepear Berry Trees. Pluck them and plant some berries here if you would like. Now continue to the left and you'll find more trainers. Although there are 4 more trainers, you should easily be able to beat them without healing because they use pokemon such as a Level 12 Wingull and Marill. After the two patches of flowers you will end up in the small Verdanturf Town. This town contains a Pokemon Center, PokeMart, Contest House, and three houses. The middle house contains Wally's Relatives where he is staying. The house on the left will have a lady who tells you how your pokemon feels about you. The first thing you should do is head to the contest house in the upper left. Talk to the lady behind the counter and she will ask you if you want a Contest Pass. Say yes and you'll recieve the pass which will allow you to participate in the contest houses. Since none of your pokemon have won any contests, this is the only house they may enter. If you want you can blend a large amount of berries and feed them to your pet. Then you can enter this house and maybe win a ribbon for your pokemon. The following contests are enterable: Cool, Cute, Smart, Tough, and Beauty. If you win one of them, you can enter that pokemon in the same contest in the next ranked contest house. Now, go to the top of the town and enter the cave. Fight the trainer at the beginning and head up to the two people separated by the rocks. Use HM 06 Rock Smash to break a rock to reunite them. They will award you with HM 04 Strength. This allows you to push some boulders. Now you can exit the cave and head back to Mauville city and instead of going left, go up into Route 111. Continue up and you'll find the Winstrate Family. They will battle you 4 battles in a row with no rest between battles. If you win you will get the Macho Brace which raises fighting type attacks. [ Sapphire Island Dex - Winstrate House ] Winstrate Victor Level 16 Ttaillow Level 16 Zigzagoon Winstrate Victoria Level 17 Roselia Winstrate Vivi Level 15 Marill Level 15 Shroomish Level 15 Numel Winstrate Vicky Level 18 Meditate After that battle, go inside and talk to the mother to recieve the Macho Brace. Then, if you have any fighting pokemon with you, you can give it to them to help their attacks. Next, head up and you'll find your path blocked by two boulders. Use rock smash to clear the way. Then you will soon find two interviewers name Gabby and Ty. They will be found all over Hoenn just looking for people to interview. You will fight a two on two battle with them so be ready. They use a level 19 Magnemite and Whishmur. After winning they will ask for an interview. They will ask you how you feel and you will be able to choose one word froma group of preset words to answer. You can choose by group or by pressing select you can choose by letter. The easiest and one of the most fit answers is to press select, choose the letter G, and choose the word Great. They will then tell you it was a great interview and you may see the interview on TV. Now, continue north to find a few more trainers on the way (look below for info on what pokemon they use). Then head up and you'll find your way blocked by a sandstorm. because you cannot continue there are the moment, you'll have to turn left to reach route 112. If you continue left you will find three more trainers before you reach the cable car entrance and cave entrance. The pokemon the trainers use from the interviewers, to this point are: Level 19 Whismur Level 18 Shroomish Level 18 Marill Level 19 Sandshrew Level 18 Zigzagoon Level 18 Nuzleaf Level 18 Taillow Level 18 Lombre SIX Level 16 Geodudes Level 16 Numel Level 16 Machop because they are a large amount of semi strong pokemon, you may want to head back to a pokemon center after awhile to make sure you don't die in the middle of fighting. This is also a great place to train a pokemon that you have been neglected. You can easily get at least 5 levels up from these trainers, and maybe up to 12, depending how how fast the pokemon will level up. Now you will be faced with a blocked cable car entrance and a cave. Obviously because you can't get onto the Cable Car, you will need to enter the cave. As you do you may notice small spurts of steam jetting out of the ground. Don't worry, they can't hurt you. Now, because you do not have the badge needed, just skip paste the boulder and go straight up to the exit of the cave. As you come out go right and then go up and you will win 4 berry plants. Two of them grow Rawst Berries and two grow Pecha Berries. Just pick them and replant some if you would like to grow more to have (a great idea, along with planting any rare ones you may have come by along the way to get even more of those). Always remember to water the plants to make sure they feel cared. Now head right, through the grass, back to Route 111. There will be a trainer standing there so fight him. He uses a level 18 Electrike, Level 18 Wailmer, and a level 18 Makuhita. If you've been training, you should be able to easily beat them in one or maybe two hits. Now head up and you'll see a boy staring at a tree. Talk to him and you'll recieve TM 43 Secret Power. This allows you to create doors in trees, mountains with indents, and in large bush's. If you would like to see what it is like, teach Secret Power to one of your pokemon and use it on the large tree the boy was looking at. It will make a hole and you can enter and decorate it. WHen creating a secret base in another location, it will delete the one you have before. Also now that you have gotten this TM, you can go and buy more copies of it in SlatePort City. Now continue up and you'll find a girl who will give you a Razz berry when you talk to her. Each day you can come back and she will give you another random berry. Then above her is two patches of Oran Berries and two patches of Razz Berries. Take them and then fight the trainer to the left. She will use a level 18 Wingull, level 18 Numel, and a level 18 Roselia. Now head left and you'll end up at Route 113. If you keep going you'll find that there is ash falling and when you go through bushes you'll ush the ash off. You'll fight a few new pokemon in this grass, such as Spinda. Continue left and then go up to fight a trainer in a blue hat. He uses a level 18 Trapinch, and a level 20 Linoon, so not only will get you exp, you'll also get new addition(s) to your pokedex! Now go up and right to be challenged by a ninja boy hiding in the grass. He uses three level 17 Koffings and a level 19 Koffing, so don't be worried. Now hop off the ledge to acquire a super repel. Go off the ledge and then go back towards the trainer in the blue hat and take a left. You will find yourself at a female trainer who uses a simple level 20 Numel. Defeat her and then go left and fight the twins, who will send out two level 20 Whismurs. Defeat them and head up, right, and down and grab the Max Ether. Now go left and enter the house and talk to the man who will give you the Soot Sack. If you go out and run around in the ash with this you will collect ash. Bring it back to get items. The items you can get are: [ Sapphire Island Dex - Glass Worker ] Ash Items Blue Flute - 250 Steps Yellow Flute - 500 Steps Red Flute - 500 Steps White Flute - 1000 Steps Black Flute - 1000 Steps Pretty Chair - 6000 Steps Pretty Desk - 8000 Steps If you dont have 250 ash then he will say you need X amount more to get a blue flute. After you have 250 you can choose which one, but you must have the correct amount. The only way to tell is to ask for a larger item and see how much more you need. The best strategy is to buy a large amount of super repels or max repels and run around in the grass, go into the shop, exit, and continue running, using another repel when the first runs out. Now, exit the house and go to the left to fight another ninja boy. This one uses a level 19 Nincada and a level 19 Ninjask. Now go left and fight yet another trainer. This one uses a level 20 Aron so watch out for this fierce rock / steel pokemon, who can withstand a lot of types. Then head left and you will end up in Fallarbor Town. This is a small town at the foot of Mt. Chimney. First, head to the pokemon center and talk to the lady in front of the computer. She will tell you she developed the pokemon storage system on the computer. Now you can heal your pokemon and head out. The house to the left of the contest house contains someone who can teach your pokemon moves that it use to know at lower levels. This costs rare heart scales though, which will need to be found using the item finder. You can normally find them hidden on the beach, under the ocean, or equipped to a Luvdisc pokemon you catch. (If you find another way, please email me!) Now you can visit the contest house or the mart if you want. Now you will be done this with town, and next time, we'll be exploring mount chimney, so in the meantime, be sure to train your pokemon! We will also be going through a large group of trainers, including some very strong ones, and we will then end up at the city of the fourth badge, so make sure you have at least three pokemon at about level 30 to make sure that this will be an easy ride! ___________________________ / \ | h. Steaming Hot | \___________________________/ Now we can start our way through Route 114. Head left of Fallarbor Town and you'll end up at the top of the very large Route 114. Immediately you'll see a house in which you should enter. Talk to the kid near the top to find that he's the Fossil Maniac's little brother. He will give you TM 28 Dig. Then go through the hole and to the back to find the Fossil Maniac who will tell you that the fossils are his, and if you want one you should go find your own. Now exit here and head left. You'll se a man with his Poochyena. Talk to him to obtain TM 05 Roar. This move will increase the user's attack rating in battle when used. Now head down and talk to the man near the top of the bridge to enter your first trainer battle on this route. He will use a Barboach that is at level 20. Although it looks like a normal fish, it has a ground attribute too and posesses the ultimately strong yet typically weak Magnitude. This may damage you only a little, or do massive damage, all depending on the luck of the draw. After defeating this trainer head onto the bridge and fight the trainer looking left. He will use three level 16 Goldeens, and a level 16 Barboach. After his defeat, continue down the bridge and fight the female trainer standing there. She uses a level 19 Marill, and a level 19 Lombre. Now, go to where the bridge ends and head to the right, BEHIND the house. You'll end up at a patch of grass and then 3 berry plants that contains 2 semi-rare persim berries each. They contain ALL 5 flavors so they are a great catch. Remember to replant these. Now enter the house and talk to Lanette who will give you a Seedot/Lotad doll and will tell you about the storage system. Now exit the house and talk to the boy standing there. He says he is collecting berries so he will give you one. If you come back each day he will give you another one. The possible berries are: Razz Berry, Nanab Berry, Pinap Berry, Bluk Berry, and a Wepean Berry. After that head down to the two girls who will send out a level 19 Roselia, and a level 21 Graveller. They are an easy defeat with a fire and a water pokemon. You can also use alternate types such as grass moves. Now continue down and fight the next trainer, Camper Shane. He uses a level 19 Sandshrew and a level 19 Nuzleaf. These are nothing new and they don't pose much of a threat to any pokemon above level 23 or so. Continue into the grass and fight yet another pokemon, this time a Pokemaniac. He will use a level 20 Aron, which may be a touch battle without the right moves. Use fire, fighting, or ground if you can. Water and electric are also okay. EVERY other type will be not very effective, and poison cannot even effect it. Now continue along and go up the rock stairs and continue down the path to the left, down, and right. Soon you'll find two rocks that you can smash. Behind them lay an entry to a nice stone secret base, which contains a cool structure with a nice entry hallway. Now go down and fight the trainer who uses a level 19 Slugma and a level 19 Wingull. Again, a normal trainer with nothing very good. Now continue along the one way path and fight the remaining two trainers, who will use three level 18 geodude, and two level 19 machop, giving you not much variety. Just smash these down in one or two hits each. Then continue and enter the cave, which brings you into meteor falls, which is only part way accessible to you at the moment. First run straight up and grab the Full Heal. Then head back down and to the left over the bridge. You'll encounter team aqua/magma who will then be interupted by team magma/aqua. Then team aqua/magma, will run off with the 'meteor'. The second team will then leave. Then head down and talk to the professor. Then head left and then up to grab the precious moon stone. Head down, hopping over and slopes and out the door to reach Route 115. Now head down and fight the black belt. He uses a simple level 20 machop so make it a quick fight. Then move to the right and use rock smash to break the rock. Go through and hrab the Great ball and the rare Bluk Berries. Be sure to plant one in each spot so that they can regrow and you can grab some more. Now hop off to the left and fight the trainer waiting there. He uses a level 20 Zangoose which shouldn't do very much damage to your pokemon. Now continue down and you'll find yourself in Rustboro town. To get back to Chimney Mountain as quikcly as possible, head right and through the cave that you got Strength in. You will end up in Verdanturf Town. Head all the way right into Mauville and then go north to Route 111. Continue all the way up and then left until you reach Route 112. You will now be able to ride the Cable car so go up into the Cable Car House and talk to the lady and say yes. You'll end up on the top of Mt. Chimney. Continue up the mountain, passing all the fighting untill you get to a trainer you must fight. They use a level 20 Zubat and a level 20 Poochyena. Defeat them and head up to the next trainer. They use a level 20 Carvanna, a level 20 Poochyena, and another level 20 Carvanna. He is a bit harder than the other trainer, but shouldn't be any sort of a problem. Head up and talk to the leader of Team Aqua/Magma. They will give a short speech and then battle you. They use a level 24 Mightyena, a level 24 Golbat/Golduck, and a level 25 Sharpedo/Camerupt. This may be a tought battle, so be sure to have some revives and super potions. After winning he will leave and the opposing team leader will congratulate you. Make sure you take the meteorite from the machine before leaving. Now head all the way down and instead of taking the lift down, go ito Jagged Pass. Ride down and fight the trainers. Unless you have the acro bike you will have to skip one trainers. If you go straight down you will encounter Camper Ethan, who will use a level 21 Zigzagoon and a level 21 Taillow. Then, if you continue straight down some more, you'll fight Picknicker Diana, who will use a level 20 Shroomish, level 20 Oddish, and a level 20 Swablu. Now head down and you'll end up at a new spot in Route 112. Head to the left and you'll end up in Lavaridge Town. First, head to the lady right beneath the hot spring. She will give you an egg that will hatch into a Wynaut if carried for long enough. The house on the left is a shop that sells healing items. It is suggested that you do not use them though, because their taste will make a pokemon not like you as much. Now after healing, head down to the pokemon gym. This is a fire gym so be sure to bring along a water type or a rock type. The trainers in here will use fire pokemon around levl 19 - 24, but most of the trainers you can skip if you would like to. To get through the gym do: Head up and to the hole on the left. Head left to the hole. Head up and to the hole in the upper left corner. Head up and to the hole on the right. Head up and to the hole on the left. Head up and to the hole on the right. Head up into the hole in the upper right corner. Head to the hole on the right. Head into the hole in the bottom left corner. Head down into the hole beneath you. Prepare for battle! Sapphire Island Dex - 4th Gym Flannery Level 26 Slugma - Fire Level 26 Slugma - Fire Level 28 Torkoal - Fire Obviously the best strategy is water moves so use them if you can. Otherwise use the strongest moves you got to take them out as soon as you can. Beware of Sunny Day which can power up their fire moves a great deal. Also know that they can poison you, so with all the effect moves they have, you may need to use some revives and potions in this battle. Once you attack Torkoal you will be amazed at how much hp he has. It may take up to 8 water attacks just to defeat him, so try to use the strongest possible move, even if it isn't avantageous. For winning you will recieve the Heat Badge which makes all pokemon up to level 50 obey you. Also you will be able to use HM 06 Strength outside of battle. A last thing you get is TM 50 Overheat, which although it has an attack of 140, it lowers your special attack a great deal. Now onto your dad's gym! ___________________________ / \ | i. Duel With Dad | \___________________________/ Now exit the gym and you'll be greeted by your rival. He/she will congratulate you on how you are doing and will give you the Go-Goggles. These allow you to pass through the desert with the sandstorm in it. She will then tell you that you should challenge your dad in Petalburg City. Now head all the way right, hopping off the ledges. Once you reach the Desert Ruins head down because there isn't much there at the moment. You'll end up in Mauville so head all the way left and into the cave that is in the back of Verdanturf City. Follow all the way through the cave and then out the other side. Continue left until you reach Rustboro City. Continue through the path in the city and go down into Route 104. Cross the bridge and enter the forest. Hop down the ledges to get through the forest quickly and exit into Route 104. Head to the right to finally reach your destination, Petalburg City. Now, if you havnt already, head to the Pokemon Center and talk to the man by the PC. He will ask you if he can see your new profile. Say yes and enter 4 words about you. It can be anything from "I Like Pokemon Battle Armor" to "Pokemon Are Great Great". You can choose what you want, at the moment it won't affect you. Now heal and head over to the gym. This gym consists of 7 trainers and then the leader. You will be fighting at least 3 of the trainers. You can look on the door for the room that shows which type it is. These can be anything from accuracy to speed rooms, so pick which you would be best against. Watch out for these trainers, they are all about level 27 and they use things to make you unable to attack, such as sleep, paralysis, and even making your pokemon fall in love with them. So don't be surprised while you are asleep and they are pounding down on you. A pokemon such as Aron around level 30 (or even evolved at level 32) will do great because normal moves do next to no damage to them. This means that one trainer with only one pokemon may fell all of yours easily. Here is a chart of all the possible trainers. Just match the room number up with the trainer. ( Leader ) ( 7 ) ( 8 ) ( 4 ) ( 5 ) ( 6 ) ( 2 ) ( 3 ) ( 1 ) 1: No trainer 2: Speed Room Level 27 Delcatty + X Speed Opponent's Speed Makes It So They Attack First 3: Accuracy Room Level 27 Delcatty + X Accuracy Opponents Accuracy Makes It So They Almost Never Miss 4: Zero Reduction Room Level 27 Linoone + Guard Spec. For winning you will recieve the Balance Badge. Ut allows you to use Surf and it will increase your pokemon's defensive power. You will also receieve TM 42 Facade. Its a great move with 70 attack, 100 accuracy, and will have double power if the opponent is paralyzed, poisoned, or burned. Now head out and go into Wally's house to the left of the gym. Talk to Wally's dad and he will thank you a couple times and then give you HM 03 Surf. You can teach this to a pokemon and use it to surf over water areas. This will increased the number of places you can visit greatly. It is also one of the best water moves because it has 100 Accuracy and 95 Attack. Now exit his house and go down to the bottom left of the town and surf over the small pond to reach an ether. Then head up to the upper right corner and surf over that area to grab the max revive. Also in this pond area you will be able to find Marills which is a great water pokemon. Now head left and then up through the forest. Cross the bridge and go back to Rustboro. Now head to the right and all the way into the cave once more, go through it and end up back in Verdanturf. Now head left into Mauville once again and then go north. This time when you reach the Desert Ruins enter them. You will see a trainer right to your left, so walk up to him to fight him. He will use a level 24 sandshrew, so watch out. He won't be hurt by the sandstorm, so make sure you use a rock or ground type so that the sandstorm doesn't widdle away at your HP each turn. Now go up and to the left to grab the stardust. Its just some red sand but it sells for a high price. Now head a little but to the right and up and you'll find another trainer. They will use a level 22 Baltoy, a level 22 Sandshrew, and a level 22 Baltoy. These aren't that hard, but will try to lower your accuracy. Head to the right and you'll find a female trainer. She uses a level 23 Sandshrew and a level 23 Baltoy. Now head up into the upper right corner and you'll find 2 fossils. You will only get to choose one so choose wisely. The choices are: Root Fossil : Lileep ( Rock / Grass ) Claw Fossil : Anorith ( Rock / Bug ) Choose which one you want and the other will disappear. Then, if you would like it to be turned into a pokemon, go back to Rustboro City and take it to Devon Corporation to get it revived. Now head down and fight the two trainers below. They will use a level 24 Sandlash and a level 24 Sandshrew. Beat them and then head back to Mauville city and prepared to take a trip through an underground area. ___________________________ / \ | j. Control The Weather | \___________________________/ Now the first thing you need to do is is head to the middle of Mauville and talk to Wattson (man with the white hair). He will ask you a favor and to go into New Mauville and shut off the generator. He will then give you the key to the area. Now head south to route 110 and first thing you see the water, surf into it. The head to the right and you'll see a cave. Enter it and you'll find a closed door and it will ask if you would like to use the basement key on it. Say yes and you will enter into New Mauville. Walk down and step on the blue button. It will open the door to the left of you. Then head left and step on the green button. It will close the door to the right of you so head left. Go u and then to the right without stepping on the blue button. Now head up and grab the pokeball on the blue button, it will be an Escape Rope. Then step on the button and head to the left. Then go up and grab the paralyze heal on the LEFT button but don't step on the button. The right one is a voltorb in deguise. Then continue up and to the right. Go down and grab the full heal on the right and then press the button. Then head up and go to the right and grab the pokeball containing a thunderstone on the very right and then step on the button that will stop the generator. Now pull out your pack and use your escape rope to get out. You'll appear back on the small island so surf back to the left and into Mauville. Talk to Wattson once more and he will give you TM 24 Thunderbolt. It's one of the better and more accurate thunder moves. Now that you have completed that small side quest you can head to the right of Mauville. You'll encunter some trainers who will use some pokemon such as a level 17 Carvanna and a level 15 Magnemite. These aren't anything you can't handle so you won't need to use any healing items and they may not even do any damage to you. Now surf over to the right and you'll find a fisherman facing the sea. If you say yes when he asks if the good rod is good, he will give you the good rod. Now head to the right and talk to the interviewers. They will fight you with a 2 on 2 battle using a level 27 Loudred and Magnemite. After winning say yes to the interview and choose a word to describe your battle. Anything will do but try to make it different from last time. The best place to look is in the 'Feelings' section. Then head down to the rock and stand on the right side, face the rock, and press A to find an Iron (Now who said that running around hugging rocks is worthless? ^_^). Next go to the trainer further to the right. They will send out two level 26 Carvanna. These may be a challenge for you, especially with it's super strong moves. Now head to the right and up to meet Steven. He will talk to you for a second and then walk off. Now head left and use cut on the small tree and pick the sitrus berries. Next head to the right to fight another trainer. He will use a level 26 Taillow and a level 26 Swellow. After beating him head up the road into route 119. You'll soon find a large patch of ultra tall grass that you will have to walk through. There are a few trainers here that it is probably best to skip. As you enter the grass it will start raining. If you choose to right the trainers all of their pokemon will be around level 26/27. Once you get out of the grass you will see a kid outside a house. Talk to him to find that he thought you could fly by catching many flying pokemon and holding on. If you walk in the house you will see a large group of bird pokemon, flying around. If you talk to the lady she will tell you about the legend of the cave of origin, which will come into play later. Now continue up and walk through the tall grass to reach some Sitrus Berries and some Leppa Berries. Now go back down and up the stairs onto the dirt part and continue up towards the bridge and fight the trainer. She'll use a level 27 Gloom and a level 27 Roselia. Take her out and head across the bridge and up to fight another trainer. He'll use a level 28 Breloom so just use an attack or two to wipe it out. Continue up to the right (or to the left if you have the mach bike) and you'll fight a hidden trainer (if you took the right route). He uses a level 25 Nincada, a level 25 Ninjask, and a level 25 Koffing. If you took the left route you'll (optionally) fight a trainer with a level 27 Swellow. Now head up and enter he large glass building known as the Weather Institute. Go to the left and talk to the bed to heal your pokemon. Now head to the right and you'll have to fight a large amount of Aqua/Magma team members. They'll all use pokemon about level 27/28 but they will be different in each version. Just bring out your strongest attacks and take them down as quickly as possible before they lower your stats too much. After beating he two downstairs trainers go up the stairs and fight the 2 trainers there. Then after beating them talk to the one guarding the scientists on the left. They will use two pokemon both at level 28 against you. For winning the scientist will give you a Castform. It's a pokemon that will change form according to the weather. It comes with a vast variety of moves that will change it's form. The best strategy at the moment with him is to use Hail and then Power Snow. It also comes with Mystic Water equipped to it, which raises the power of all water type moves. Now you can go downstairs, heal, and then beginning training WITHOUT going over the bridge. A challenging Rival Battle is coming up soon. ___________________________ / \ | k. Forest Gym | \___________________________/ Now exit the Weather Institute and head over the bridge to the right. Then start heading up and your rival will head up from behind you. Here are the possible teams that your rival will use. [ Sapphire Island Dex - Rival Battle Three ] You Choose Treecko Level 29 Wailmer - Water Level 29 Chrommish - Grass Level 31 Combusken - Fire / Fighting You Choose Torchic Level 29 Shroomish - Grass Level 29 Numel - Fire / Ground Level 31 Mudkip - Water / Ground You Choose Mudkip Level 29 Wailmer - Water Level 29 Numel - Fire / Ground Level 31 Grovyl - Grass If you have trouble winning then you should use some types that are super effective against hers. If that doesn't work then you should train some more. The pokemon you use should be around level 30 if you would like an easy battle. Also make sure that they have a few good moves. After you beat them they will award you with HM 02 Fly. This allows you to fly to a town that you've previously been to, so instead of take 10 minutes to find your way back to Rustboro, you can fly there in seconds. But first of all you need to get the next badge, which is coming up soon. Now head up and soon you'll see a sign. A few tiles up and one tile to the right you will see a fake looking tree. Walk up to it to fight a ninjaboy trainer with a level 27 Ninjask. Beat that trainer and then head further up to see another fake tree. This time the ninja boy behind it will use two level 26 Koffing. Defeat both of them (watch out for self destruct). Then grab the Pomeg Berries and replant some if you wish and head to the right. You'll end up in the treehouse city called Fortree City. First, if you would like TM 10 Hidden Power head up the ladder next to the pokemon center. Then go into the second house you pass and you'll find a lady who will play a coin game. Guess three times right and you'll recieve the TM. It's an attack with 100 accuracy and with an attack that varies for each pokemon that uses it. Now, head out to the right of the city because the gym is being blocked by an unseeable force. Continue to the right and you'll find a trainer who will use a level 29 Goldeen and a level 29 Wailmer. The pokemon aren't that strong, but the Wailmer has a very high amount of hp, so it would be best to use a grass or an electric attack from it. Now head a little to the right and you'll see a cuttable tree at the top. Cut it down and go in and cut the second one. Then go down the path until you are one step from the end. Face the end and press A to find a rare candy, simple the best item in the game. It increases your EXP level by 1 when used. Now continue heading right and you'll find the two interviewers standing there. Once again, you'll fight them in a 2 on 2 battle, with them using a level 30 Magneton and a level 30 Loudred. You'll definitely want to watch out this time. They will paralyze and confuse you, while the Loudred raises his attack. Make sure your pokemon have something that can do significant damage to Magneton, who is also part steel along with his electric attribute. Now head down and you'll find another trainer who will use a level 30 Swablu which shouldn't be any sort of problem. Now head to the left over the bridge and try to walk past the man. You'll find another invisible barrier blocking you so talk to Steven. He will use the Devon Scope to reveal the Kecleon who was hiding there. You will then fight it (level 30) and then after winning (or catching it) you will receive the Devon Scope which allows you to reveal the pokemon that are hidden (Kecleon). Steven will then use Fly to run off so now go back to Fortree and heal. Now head over to the gym and go down and use the devon scope to see the Kecleon who will run off. Then enter the gym, which turns out to be a flying gym. A lot of the flying types are dual types, with water, dragon, and more as their second type, so make sure to bring along your strongest pokemon. Most the pokemon in here are level 30, with pokemon such as Doduo and Wingull. The exact walkthrough for this gym, starting from where you enter is: 1 Step Up 3 Steps Right 3 Steps Up 12 Steps Right 1 Step Up 1 Step Left 1 Step Down 1 Step Right 1 Step Up 2 Steps Left 6 Steps Up 3 Steps Right 3 Steps Down 3 Steps Left 4 Steps Up 1 Step Left 1 Step Down 1 Step Right 3 Steps Down 3 Steps Right 3 Steps Up 5 Steps Left 1 Step Down 4 Steps Left 1 Step Up 1 Step Left 7 Steps Up 7 Steps Right 2 Steps Up 2 Setps Right 1 Step Up 1 Step Left 1 Step Down 2 Steps Right 1 Step Up 2 Steps Left 2 Steps Up 3 Steps Left 8 Steps Down 2 Steps Right 5 Steps Up 2 Steps Right 3 Steps Up 5 Steps Left 2 Steps Down 8 Steps Left 1 Step Up You'll then be at the gym leader, a master at the best of the flying types. [ Sapphire Island Dex - Fortree Gym Leader ] Winona's Pokemon Level 31 Swellow - Normal / Flying Level 30 Pelipper - Water / Flying Level 32 Skarmory - Steel / Flying Level 33 Altaria - Dragon / Flying The best suggestion would be to use an electric type, which would do ultimate damage against the Pelipper. This may be not the easiest battle though because of all of them have another double type, unlike most gyms who have all fire or all water. For winning you will recieve the feather badge, which makes all level 70 or below pokemon obey you, no matter what, and you'll recieve TM 40 Aerial Ace, which hits the enemy no matter what. And now, you'll have 6 badges! ___________________________ / \ | l. Secret Hideout | \___________________________/ Now exit the gym, and if needed, heal. Then you can head back out to the right back to Route 120. Follow the path once again and cross the bridge back across the water. As soon as you step off the bridge it will begin raining. Now head down and you'll encounter a trainer who will use a level 29 Natu and a level 29 Swellow. Defeat them and head down and to the right to encounter a female trainer who will use a level 30 Castform. This should be an easy battle so wipe her out and continue to the next trainer, a little to the right. This one will send out a level 31 Milotic. Watch out because it can confuse you with Water Pulse and recover it's HP. Now head down and you'll find a minimaze of grass. You can skip the trainers by going through the grass but if you decide to fight them, the top one use a level 29 Lotad, level 29 Lombre, and a level 29 Nuzleaf. The next trainer will use a level 29 Seedot, a level 29 Lombre, and a level 29 Nuzleaf. After that trainer you can head down a bit further and grab the Nugget in the pokeball, which sells for a nice sum of money. Then you can continue down, jumping off the ledges and get to the bridge which will then cause the rain to stop. Then you can see the nice clouds reflecting within the clouds. Continue down and you'll find another trainer. He will use three level 28 Surkuit. These shouldn't be very hard battles, so just beat him quickly. Then grab the Hyper Potion just below and to the right of him. Then head down and you'll see a girl near a berry patch. Talk to her (once every day) to recieve a RARE berry! This berry will be random but will be a hard to find one. Then you can grab the patches of Pecha Berries right there. Now head up and you'll find a patch of 4 different berry trees. From left to right they are Razz Berry, Nanab Berry, Pinap Berry, and Wepear Berry. Now grab them and go down and to the right to reach Route 121. You'll find a trainer near the bottom soon so walk to her to begin the battle. She uses a level 30 Ralts and a level 30 Duskull. Watch out for the fact that Normal and Fighting moves don't work on ghost pokemon. After that battle you can head up to find a patch of four MORE berries. Then to the right you'll find another trainer. This one will choose a level 30 Kecleon and a level 30 Seviper. Then continue a little more right to find Team Aqua/Magma running off to Mt. Pyre. Now, if you would like, cut down the tree and enter the Safari Zone, an area where you can catch rare pokemon, but you must do it differently. Otherwise head to the right and fight the two girls for a two on two battle. They'll use a level 30 Spinda and a level 32 Slaking. After that battle head off to another minimaze like area with fences. You will find an old man trainer who will use a level 31 Magnetric, a Carbos, and a female trainer who will use a level 31 Pikachu. Next continue to the right to find two Nanab Berries, and then head a little bit further to find Lilycove City! First heal and then head to the right to the beach. Here you can find a pokeball, PP Up, and a HEART SCALE, which can be used to pay to get your pokemon to learn a move it used to know. Now you can head back to the area where the Safari Zone is and head down to the small bridge. Surf off the edge of it and head down to the bottom of the large island and go onto the small part of land and into the cave. Now if you would like you can fight the large amount of trainers by going up and floors and finally grabbing TM 30 Shadow Ball at the top; it isn't required though so I won't go through it. If not then go up and to the left and head out the left door and you'll find yourself near the bottom of a mountain. Head to the right, up, left, up, etc, until you reach the top of the non foggy area. You'll then have to travel through soe fog and fight three Aqua/Magma Trainers. The Aqua Members will use: First Trainer: Level 30 Zubat Level 30 Zubat Level 30 Zubat Second Trainer: Level 31 Poochyena Level 31 Carvanna Third Trainer: Level 31 Carvanna Level 31 Carvanna As you can see there isn't much variety to their pokemon. Now head up and the leader will say that they already stole the orb that lays upon Mount Pyre. You'll then receive the other orb, which allows you to get the Legendary of each game, Groudon for Ruby, and Kyogre for Sapphire. Now fly back to Lilycove and go up to the Department Store and talk to your Rival. You will fight them for the fourth time. [ Sapphire Island Dex - Fourth Rival Battle ] You Chose Treecko: Level 31 Swellow - Normal / Flying Level 32 Wailmer - Water Level 32 Shroomish - Grass Level 34 Combusken - Fire / Fighting You Chose Torchic: Level 31 Swellow - Normal / Flying Level 32 Shroomish - Grass Level 32 Numel - Fire / Ground Level 34 Marshtomp - Water / Ground You Chose Treecko: Level 31 Swellow - Normal / Flying Level 32 Numel - Fire / Ground Level 32 Wailmer - Water Level 34 Grovyl - Grass If you have a good variety of type this should be an easy battle. Just use attacks that are super effective against them and it should be over soon. Now use fly to return to Slateport and go to the Harbor and you'll see the Captain being interviewed. Talk to him and everyone will leave and he will take you inside. Talk to the team leader and they will steal the submarine and run off. Now fly back to Lilycove and go to the northeast corner and surf out into the cave. Enter it to find yourself in their hideout. Although I won't give a full walkthrough for this place, it should be easy. Use the warp pads to find your way through, and when you come upon 4 pokeball, check the one in the uppper left corner as it is a MASTER BALL. Grab it now or you will never be able to get it. Most the trainers in here will use a level 31 - 33 so be prepared with a few pokemon. Once you reach a member by a submarine you'll fight them and then the sub will leave. Now exit the hideout and head back to Lilycove and prepare to surf through the ocean blue. ___________________________ / \ | m. Badge Set Completed | \___________________________/ Now head back to the beach on the right side of the town and use surf to surf out into the ocean. You may want to use a repel or super repel if you want to avoid all of the random wild pokemon battles and only do battle with the trainers. If you continue out straight you find some trainers. A list of the trainers and what they use is: Swimmer Jenny Level 35 Wailmer Swimmer Roland Level 25 Carvanna Sis and Bro Rita and Sam Level 36 Chinchou Level 34 Carvanna Swimmer Grace Level 33 Marill Level 33 Wingull Level 33 Wailmer Swimmer Spencer Level 33 Tentacool Level 33 Tentacool Level 33 Tentacool Swimmer Chad Level 34 Wingull Level 34 Wailmer Just bring along a grass or an electric type to easily wipe out these trainers, along with grabbing thousands and thousands of EXP points. After you pass a small house with an island on it turn right and you'll enter Mossdeep city. First thing you should do is go to the house to the very left of the island with the patch of four flowers on the left of it. Enter it and Steve will give you HM 08 Dive which allows you to dive underwater in the dark parts of the ocean. Now exit and talk to the kid outside his house and answer Yes to receive the King's Rock. Now heal your pokemon and enter the gym. You'll find a bunch of arrows that when you step on them they carry you to where you'll get off. The point is to switch all four switches and then ride to the leaders who will fight you on a 2 on 2 battle. The trainers in here use psychich pokemon around level 37 so watch out. Once you reach the gym leaders you'll find yourself in a tough battle. [ Sapphire Island Dex - Seventh Gym ] Tate and Liza Level 42 Lunatone - Rock / Psychic Level 42 Solrock - Rock / Psychich The choice is yours on this battle, but I suggest taking advantage of the rock asects with dual hit grass/water moves. If you send out a pokemon and use Razor Leaf and Surf this should be a short battle. Just watch out for their super strong psychic attacks. For winning you'll recieve a whopping ¥8400, A Mind Badge which raises your Pokemon's Special Attack and Special Defense, and TM 04 Calm Mind. You'll also be able to use HM 08 Dive outside of battle with your new badge. Now go out and go up past the large Space Center and to the house behind it to recieve a Super Rod, the best fishing tool in the game. Now head down and surf south of Mossdeep to reach Route 127. Continue south, fighting any trainers you wish until you reach Route 128. Then continue down until you meet a trainer named Triathlete Katelyn swimming back and forth. Fight her and then dive down in that dark area. Move up a few spaces and you'll find a cave with a sub inside. Rise to the surface once you get in to find yourself on a beach with a cave hole. Use rock smash on the rock above the left boudler and then push that boulder up to where the rock was. Then go to the right and push the right boulder one space to the right. Then fight the team trainer. All the trainers in here use pokemon about level 37 but I wont list them because they are different for each version. Now go up through the cave hole above them and you'll find yourself in another puzzle room. Push the first boulder up once, go left and push that boulder left once, go up and push that boulder up once. Now go right and push that boulder right one and rock smash the boulder above you. Go up and push that boulder up once, and go left and rock smash that boulder. Then push the boulder left and go through the cave. Now go back into the room you just came from and push that boulder down and rock smash the boulder to the right of you. Continue to the right and push that boulder right one and go up through the cave hole. You'll now be in a cave with moving currents. Surf to the right and go over the small current going right. Continue to the right into the current that will push you up. Press UP and it will push you up and then to the left. Go UP to reach a current which will put you on the outside so you can go left and up to reach the exit. You'll now be in a room with a large group of boulders. From where you enter do this: Three Steps Left One Step Up Push the boulder to your right one step to the right. One Step Right One Step Up Push the boulder to your left one step to the left. One Step Left One Step Up Push the boulder to your right one step to the right. One Step Right One Step Up Push the boulder to your right two steps to the right. Now fight the trainer and continue up through the hole. Now you'll enter another room with a harder boulder puzzle. Now first there will be three boulders in the first row. Push the left and right ones up one and the push the middle one left one space. Now there are three in the third row from the front, push the middle one up one and and the left one left and the right one right. Now in the last row there are 5 boulders, push the second one from the left up one, and the second one from the right up one, and the the middle one to the left. You can now enter into the foggy cave. Grab TM 26 Earthquake and continue down. Soon you'll reach a pool of water/lava and the leader of the team will come. He will fight using three level 41+ pokemon so WATCH OUT. After winning the legendary will escape and the other team will come and you'll go outside. They'll run off and Steven will come and say he is going to Sootopolis. Fly back to Mossdeep and head left and then down to Route 126. You'll find a huge mountain so go down beneath it and then use dive and enter the cave. Go to the top to find yourself in Sootopolis. Head to the land to the left of the gym and go up the stairs and follow the path. You'll find steven and Wallace who will take you to the entrance of the Cave of Origin. You'll need flash but just continue around the cave in circles until you reach HM 07 Waterfall. Then continue into the lair of the legendary. At this point MAKE SURE YOU HAVE SOME ULTRA BALLS, A MASTER BALL, OR TIMER BALLS! You will be fighting Kyogre / Groudon soon and you'll have one chance to catch this legendary pokemon. You can get ultra balls in Mossdeep, the master ball was in their hideout in the earlier stage, and timer balls can be found in Rustboro. If you have some, continue on, otherwise, leave and grab some if you would like to catch this one of a kind pokemon. Now approach the legendary and you'll enter a battle with it. Either catch it or defeat it, your choice. You may have trouble catching it without the master ball, but it is very possible and highly suggested if you can. Try putting him to sleep to help out. Now you can exit the cave and it will now be no longer raining. Head to the pokemon Center to heal your pokemon and head to the gym and talk to Steven. He will fly off and allow you entry into the final gym. Here is a complete guide to get to Wallace without fighting any trainers: 6 Step(s) Up 1 Step(s) Right 1 Step(s) Up 2 Step(s) Left 1 Step(s) Up 1 Step(s) Right 3 Step(s) Up 3 Step(s) Left 2 Step(s) Up 2 Step(s) Right 1 Step(s) Down 3 Step(s) Right 1 Step(s) Down 1 Step(s) Right 2 Step(s) Up 3 Step(s) Left 3 Step(s) Up 2 Step(s) Right 1 Step(s) Up 2 Step(s) Right 1 Step(s) Down 1 Step(s) Right 3 Step(s) Up 2 Step(s) Left 1 Step(s) Down 1 Step(s) Left 1 Step(s) Up 1 Step(s) Left 2 Step(s) Down 2 Step(s) Left 1 Step(s) Down 1 Step(s) Left 1 Step(s) Up 1 Step(s) Left 1 Step(s) Down 1 Step(s) Left 1 Step(s) Up 1 Step(s) Left 2 Step(s) Up 1 Step(s) Right 1 Step(s) Down 1 Step(s) Right 1 Step(s) Up 1 Step(s) Right 1 Step(s) Down 1 Step(s) Right 1 Step(s) Up 1 Step(s) Right 3 Step(s) Up (Gym Leader Battle) This battle may be a bit hard because he uses water, ice, and ground. A great strategy is to use both an electric and grass pokemon if you can. Here are his pokemon: [ Sapphire Island Dex - Eighth Gym ] Wallace Level 40 Luvdisc - Water Level 42 Whishcash - Water / Ground Level 40 Seleo - Ice / Water Level 42 Seaking - Water Level 43 Milotic - Water Just watch out for the Milotic because it has great attacks, and also the Whiscash has a move that will keep raising his special defence greatly, so have some normal attacks. For winning you'll get your last badge, which makes all pokemon of any level obey you, and allows you to use HM 07 out of battle. Also you'll receieve TM 03 - Water Pulse which is a great water type move that has a small chance of confusing the enemy. Now you have all eight badges, onto the Elite Four... But not after we finish a few areas and plow through victory road. Now get to training, you'll need about 6 pokemon level 45+ for these trainers. ___________________________ / \ | n. The End? | \___________________________/ Now, if you are ready to face victory road, fly to Sootopolis and exit through the south and return to the surface. Head to the right to Route 127, down to Route 128, and right to Ever Grande City. Use waterfall to climb the giant waterfall and then enter the cave. Head up through the cave, and go up about 15 steps and up the stairs. Go across the bridge, up, and fight the trainer. She uses a level 44 Roselia so it should be easy. Go down and stairs and you'll find it's dark. Use flash to light it up a bit. Now push the left boulder left one, and then push the right one to the right. Go down and to the right, and use rock smash. Go up the stairs, across the bridge, down the stiars, and fight the trainer. He has pokemon around level 42 so watch out, especially for his Lairon. Now go all the way down and then left and go up the stairs. You'll now be in the room with a female trainer at the start. She uses a level 43 Sandslash and a level 43 Ninetails. After that continue up and to the water. You can surf all the way up and a little left and go up the waterfall to take the short way, or you can go onto the first land you see and take the long route. The long way has more trainers but they are much easier than the other trainer. Choose whichever way you which and then go up the ladder on the small island to the left of the two rocks. Then head down and to the right and rock smash the rock o top and push the left rock down. Then rock smash the other rock to be able to continue to the ladder. Go up it and then go up the stairs, over the bridge, and then go right and then up, not hopping off the ledge. You'll fight a trainer with a level 44 Cacturne. Now, after winning, you may want to use an escape rope and heal. If not then go up and you'll fight Wally. His team is as follows: Wally - Victory Road Level 44 Altaria Level 44 Roselia Level 43 Delcatty Level 41 Magneton Level 45 Gardevoir If you dont have a large amount of high level pokemon this will be a very hard battle. If you find this just any of a challenge, then you need to go and train a lot more for the elite four. They will be as strong, if not stronger, and you'll need to fight 5 of them in succession. Once you are ready, then enter the pokemon league, talk to the girls, and prepare the battle. First Trainer - Sidney Level 46 Mightyena - Dark Sand Attack - Ground Roar - Normal Take Down - Normal Crunch - Dark Level 48 Shiftry - Grass / Dark Fake Out - Normal Swagger - Normal Double Team - Normal Extrasensory - Psychic Level 46 Cacturne - Grass / Dark Cotton Spore - Grass Needle Arm - Grass Faint Attack - Dark Leech Seed - Grass Level 48 Sharpedo - Water / Dark Swagger - Normal Slash - Normal Surf - Water Crunch - Dark Level 49 Absol - Dark Snatch - Dark Aerial Ace - Flying Sword Dance - Normal Slash - Normal This trainer shouldn't be much difficulty if you use the correct moves. Just use super strong attacks on Mightyena and maybe on Absol. For the two grass use fire, and for Sharpedo use lightning or grass. This trainers doesn't give much trouble unless you take too many turns to defeat a single pokemon. Second Trainer - Phoebe Level 48 Dusclops - Ghost Future Site - Psychic Curse - None Confuse Ray - Ghost Shadow Punch - Ghost Level 49 Banette - Ghost Spite - Ghost Will-O-Wisp - Fire Shadow Ball - Ghost Faint Attack - Dark Level 50 Sableye - Dark / Ghost Psychic - Psychic Shadow Ball - Ghost Faint Attack - Dark Attract - Normal Level 49 Banette - Ghost Psychic - Psychic (Hmm... No Comment...) Toxic - Poison Shadow Ball - Ghost Skill Swap - Psychic Level 51 Dusclops - Ghost Ice Beam - Ice Shadow Ball - Ghost Confuse Ray - Ghost Earthquake - Ground The best strategy here is to use a dark type pokemon with a ghost/dark type move. The best suggestion, and what I use, is an Absol with Shadow Ball which does massive damage to them, and a small amount to you. If you dont have them, and have nothing super effect, just bring a basic element pokemon, such as water, fire, electric, grass, or ice, just to ensure that your attacks have the ability to hurt them. Third Trainer - Glacia Level 50 Glalie - Ice Hail - Ice Light Screen - Psychic Ice Beam - Ice Crunch - Dark Level 50 Sealeo - Ice / Water Surf - Water Ice Ball - Ice Hail - Ice Body Slam - Normal Level 52 Sealeo - Ice / Water Hail - Ice Blizzard - Ice Attract - Normal Dive - Water Level 52 Glalie - Ice Hail - Ice Shadow Ball - Ghost Ice Beam - Ice Crunch - Dark Level 53 Walrein - Ice / Water Surf - Water Body Slam - Normal Blizzard - Ice Sheer Cold - Ice This pokemon may serve as a challenge to you because there isn't anything that does up to x12 Multiplyer, like some pokemon of other trainers, so you'll have to stick it out with grass, lightning, and fire attacks. Use fire to take out the Glalies and then Lightning to rip up the Spheal family. With a little luck you will end up beating this trainer. Fourth Trainer - Drake Level 52 Shelgon - Dragon Rock Tomb - Rock Dragon Claw - Dragon Protect - Normal Crunch - Dark Level 54 Altaria - Dragon / Flying Dragon Dance - Dragon DragonBreath - Dragon Take Down - Normal Refresh - Normal Level 53 Flygon - Ground / Dragon Sandstorm - Rock Dig - Ground DragonBreath - Dragon Fly - Flying Level 53 Flygon - Ground / Dragon DragonBreath - Dragon Flamethrower - Fire Sand Attack - Ground Crunch - Dark Level 55 Salamence - Dragon / Flying Dragon Claw - Dragon Crunch - Dark Flamethrower - Fire Fly - Flying This trainer should serve as an easy defeat, if using the right pokemon. The best approach is to use a water / other non-ice type to deliver ice blows. Again I suggest Absol but this time with Ice Beam as his main offense. If you are playing Sapphire Kyogre already knows it when you catch him so he's good too. Fifth Trainer - Steven Level 57 Skarmory - Steel / Flying Toxic - Poison Steel Wing - Steel Aerial Ace - Flying Spikes - Ground Level 55 Claydol - Ground / Psychic Light Screen - Psychic Ancient Power - Rock Reflect - Psychic Earthquake - Ground Level 56 Aggron - Steel / Rock Earthquake - Ground Thunder - Electric Dragon Claw - Dragon Solarbeam - Grass Level 56 Cradily - Rock / Grass Confuse Ray - Ghost Sludge Bomb - Poison Ancient Power - Rock Giga Drain - Grass Level 56 Armaldo - Rock / Bug Slash - Normal Ancient Power - Rock Aerial Ace - Flying Water Pulse - Water Level 58 Metagross - Steel / Psychic Earthquake - Ground Meteor Mash - Steel Psychic - Psychic Hyper Beam - Normal Now this has to be the toughest trainer ever. His pokemon are of the perfect variety, most being super resistant to most types. He also posesses a Metagross, one of the best and strongest non-legendary pokemon in the entire game. You'll need varied types, but for Skarmory I suggest fire, for Claydol I suggest Ice / Water, for Aggron I suggest water, for Cradily I suggest ice, for Armaldo I suggest ice, and for Metagross I suggest ground/fire. With powerful enough moves, high enough level, and a little selective thinking, you may get through this trainer alive. Once you have cleared all five, you will now get put in the hall of fame, and all your part pokemon will receieve a ribbon. Great going! You have now completed the game, and can now go through and finish any uncompleted side quests, including Rayquaza, any other uncaptured legendaries, and some things you may have missed such as the trick house. Also, after restaring and going downstairs you'll receive the S.S. ticket which gives you access to the Battle Tower and the last trick house trick. The battle tower is a challenging side battling with great prizes! So check the sidequests section for help on what to do next, and great job on a finished game. _______________________________________________ / \ | E. SIDE QUESTS | \_______________________________________________/ ================================================= 1. Legendaries ================================================= The legendaries of the game are the pokemon that are one of a kind and are usually the hardest to catch. This guide will guide you through catching them all. Beware that you'll only have one chance to save before you fight any of them. ===Latias (Sapphire) / Latios (Ruby)=== This is a pokemon that you will not get until after beating the elite four. Once you beat them and head downstairs, be sure to check the TV. There will be a advertisement about a strange flying bird. Now that you have done that you are almost there. From now on whenever you go in buildings or changing routes the location of this pokemon will change. You'll never know where it's at so you'll have to fight for awhile in an area and then head to another. If you encounter them you'll either have to have a pokemon with a move that stops them from running, use a move that stops them from running, or use your master ball. ===Latios (Sapphire) / Latias (Ruby)=== This is one of the current mysteries of the games but the theory goes like this (most of it is proved, just not how you get the ticket). More will be added as nintendo released information about a promotional event or another way to get this pokemon. ===Kyogre (Sapphire) / Groudon (Ruby)=== This is one of the pokemon you will have to fight to be able to beat the game. Once you reach Sootopolis you will have to enter the cave of origin. After making your way down the pokemon will respond to your orb and you'll enter a battle with it. This is one of the legendaries you don't have to worry about because you'll have to encounter it sometime. ===Regi's - Part One=== Now to get the trio of legendaries in this game you'll have to embark on a multiple part quest. The first part of this quest leads to you opening three secret caves within the games. Before you start will need need to catch a Relicanth - which is found on the ocean floor of routes 124, 125, and 126. These are very rare so it may take you awhile before you find them. The next pokemon you need is a Wailord. You can catch a Wailmer and evolve it at level 40, or you can find these in the wild on route 129 by surfing. Either way works fine. Now put the Relicanth in your first position and your Wailord in your last position and fly to Pacifidlog Town and surf out left. Soon you'll reach a bit where the water pushes you so go onto that in the very bottom tile that you can. You should in up on a small island with a trainer. Now go the button of that island and surf down off the bottom. You'll hit a rock so you need to go up one and you'll hit another island. Go to the very bottom left corner and surf off to the bottom. You'll end up in the ocean surrounded by rocks with a two on two trainer duo. Surf off to the left at the very bottom tile possible and you'll hit yet another island. Go off to the left again and hit a island with nothing on it. Surf to the left three tiles from the bottom and you'll be a small circle. Dive down and go down through the cave. Surf down and go around the large rock and look at the dots when you see them. Read it to see the message coded in braille. The message is "Go Up Here." so use dive while next to the dots. You'll enter the sealed chamber that has rocks with the alphabet in braille on it. If you have your two pokemon in place, go up to the very top and talk to the braille there. It says "Dig here." so use dig at that place. It will open a cave so go in. There are a circle of seven rocks. The six in the circle have messages that tell you things. The messages are: "In this cave we have lived." "But, we sealed the pokemon away." "Those with courage, those with hope." "Open a door, an eternal pokemon waits." "We feared it." "We owe all to the pokemon." Then at the top it says: "First comes Relicanth. Last comes Wailord." If you have those pokemon in those places, three doors will open, allowing you to move to the second part of the capture. ===Regi's - Part Two=== This part is easy, as long as you have a pokemon that can put something to sleep, and one that can lower it's HP. Also you must have a large amount of ultra balls. Regi-Ice: Fly to Dewford and surf up off to top to the left and then up. When you reach route 105 head onto the island with the trainer and then surf off the left of it. Go up and into a cave in a rock that was closed recently before. Walk up to the top and you'll find some more braille. This message says: "Stop and wait. Wait for time to pass twice." Stay looking the braille for two minutes (Yes, just stop and put your gameboy down or something). Don't move at all though or exit from the braille. Then the door at the top will open revealing a second room containing Rejice. Save and then battle him, using whatever strategy you find best to catch him. RegiRock: Head to the desert ruins north of Mauville and go to the bottom of it. Enter the second tomb and go up and talk to the braille. It says: "Right, Right, Down, Down, Then, Use Strength." This means to exit and take two steps right, two steps down, and then use HM: Strength. The door will open and you'll be able to fight RegiRock in the same manner you fought Regice. RegiSteel: The last of the trio is Registeel. To get him first fly to Fortree and head to the right. Follow the patch all the way to the bottom till you get the the 1x3 bery patch with the rare berry girl near it. Go up to the stairs, through the grass, up another set of stairs and into the Ancient Tomb. Read the braille at the top to find the message: "With new time, hope and love, aim to the sky in the middle." This time go to the very middle of the cave and use Fly. It will open up the cave which will reveal the mysterious Registeel for you to capture. With that you will have all three Regi's in your possession. ===Rayquaza=== Once you have beaten the elite four fly to Pacifidlog Town and surf to the east. Then surf up around the rocks onto an island with a cave. Enter the cave and follow to the path to come out higher up on the island. Go into the large building. First Floor Head left and around the rock and into the door at the top. Simple. Second Floor Walk to the left until you hit a rock. Get on your MACH bike and ride to the right and turn down 2 tiles from the wall, then turn left at the very bottom tile, then turn up and right and up to reach the door. You must have a lot of speed to clear the cracks without falling. Third Floor Head around the rocks to the door on the very right. Another simple flood. Fourth Floor There is three doors here. The two on the left cannot be reached from this room. If you look three tiles down from the middle door there are 2 cracks. Ride down, left, up, and right and fall through one of those cracks. Third Floor II Go up through the door. Fourth Floor II Go left and up through the door. Fifth Floor Head around the rocks to the door on the right. Sixth Floor Head up the stairs and talk to Rayquaza, who is at level 70 and who will attack you. Catch him any way you like... But be careful because he is a very strong pokemon. Jirachi - Deoxys Unobtainable without GS at the moment. With that you will have all of the Legendary Pokemon in the game. Great job! ================================================= 2. Battle Tower ================================================= Coming Soon ================================================= 4. Secret Base ================================================= Coming Soon ================================================= 5. Pokemon Contests ================================================= Pokemon contests are one of the best new additions to the games. They allow you to enjoy raises your pokemon's special stats and using them in competitions to compete for first place. Here is what you do: First, you must acquire the pokeblock case from the Contest House in Slateport City. Talk to the girl just to the left and she will give you it. This is what you use to store pokeblocks, candies made from blending berries. Next, you must have the contest pass which allows you to enter Pokemon Contests. Head to Verdantuf and talk to the girl behind the counter to receive the contest pass. Then, you'll need some berries to blend, so if you don't already have a large amount of them, head off to different routes and pick them off the small plants in the dirt. Already remember to replant in each dirt spot, so that they will grow into several more berries. Once you have these head to any contest house, prefereably the one in Verdantuf. Go to the right side of the house and you'll see two grey machines. They have buttons all over them and the bottom one has at least 2 people standing at it. The top one is for linking up with a friend and the bottom is for one player use. Go to an empty side on the bottom one and talk to it. Say yes twice and you'll be asked to pick a berry. Choose any one, but if you have a certain stat you would like to raise, choose the corrosponding flavor. The flavor chart is as follows: Spicy Taste - Raises Cool Sour Taste - Raises Tough Dry Taste - Raises Beauty Bitter Taste - Raises Smart Sweet Taste - Raises Cute Once you choose it all the players will throw theirs in and it will countdown. Then the spinner will begin. The point of the game is to press the A button when the arrow is pointing at your arrow. The results are as follows: Exact Hit: Circle Within A Circle: Speeds Up Much Faster ( +5 Speed ) Near Hit: Circle: Speeds Up A Little ( +2? Speed ) Miss: X: Slows Down Some ( -?? Speed ) After the bar at the top fills up (Takes a set amount of rotations), you'll get the results. The main part is the amount of time it took and the max speed. They determine the level and feel of the berry, along with types used. Now, you will receive a pokeblock. To use it, go into your bag and use the pokeblock case. It will let you choose a berry and then choose a pokemon to feed it to. Then it will raise the set stats a small bit. The feel stat gets added to your pokemon, and once it hits the max, it will not eat anymore, so be sure not to use blocks that have a very high feel to them. Now, after raises a pokemon's stats a large amount, you are ready for the contest. You currently can only enter the normal rank at Verdantuf, so head to the girl behind the counter and enter a pokemon into whichever contest you believe it will succeed in. You'll then be taken to the primary judging. Each of the pokemon will be shown, and the crowd will judge on appearance / cuteness. Then you're off to secondary judging. This takes a little skill. You'll be asked to show a move. Choose one and everyone will use theirs and the effects will happen. The pink hearts add to your score and the black hearts take away from other pokemon's scores. Be sure to read what the moves do. Also, if you are in a cool contest, and use a cool move, it will add to the audience's appeal. Once that hits 5, then the person who got it will recieve around 6 hearts. The point is to try to get the most hearts, more than the other pokemon. You can also get combo points by doing a certain move, and then another move in the next round. An example is: First Move: Ice Punch Second Move: Fire Punch / Thunder Punch If you use the first move, and then either of the second moves. You'll get a combo bonus. Another bonus you get is by raising your own condition with some moves, which will give you a star from the judge. Every round, you'll get 1 heart for each star you have. After five rounds, the judging will occur, and add up your votes from primary judging, and then your hearts from secondary. The winner is the one with the highest bar filled, and that pokemon will receive a ribbon, and access to the contest house of one higher difficulty. So if you beat the Normal Rank in the Beauty Contest you can enter the Super Rank in the Beauty Contest. Once you beat the 4th rank in any contest, your picture of your pokemon will appear in the art museum. You can get one picture for each of the five contests. Good luck! _______________________________________________ / \ | F. SIDE-INFO | \_______________________________________________/ ================================================= 1. Natures ================================================= ----------------- What Are Natures? ----------------- Natures are one of the few traits that a pokemon can posesss. They determine a bonus and loss in a pokemon's stats as they level up. This means that a pokemon with an Adamant nature will will get more attack points up when they level, but their special attack won't raise as much as a normal pokemon's would. These natures are new to the pokemon world, and give a good strategic method to training your pokemon, both in experience, and in contest points. Note: because some pokeblocks have more than one flavor, it may be both the pokemon's favorite and worst, meaning it will raise one more than the other. ------- Natures ------- All the natures are listed here, and are read like this: Nature: Nature name will go here Attack: Speed of attack raise Defense: Speed of defense raise Sp. The Bikes ================================================= A new addition to this game is that it features more than one bike. Ruby and Sapphire contain both the Acro bike, a bike of magnificent tricks, and the Mach bike, a bike that contains the speed of the wind. To obtain a bike you must have first reached Mauville. The building directly to the right of the pokemon center is the bike shop. If you enter and talk to the man on the left he'll give you your first bike. You can then talk to him again to exchange bikes. Here is a description of each: ```````````````````````` Acro Bike ```````````````````````` Name: Acro Bike Meaning: Acrobatic Bike Speed: Medium Usefulness: 6 ```````````````````````` The acro bike is a bike that isn't used that often. The speed is also pretty slow, about running speed, but it can do a few tricks. The times you'll really need this bike though is to reach secret items and bases. ```````````````````````` Uses: Encounter wild pokemon without taking steps (useful in safari zone and when trying to save money on repels) Jumping across the white beams to reach secret areas Jump up rocks in Jagged Pass ```````````````````````` Special Moves: ( B ) ( Press / Hold Shortly ) - Wheelie ( B ) ( Press + Hold A Long While ) - Hop ( Hop Movie + Move ) - Hope in a direction ( Side Direction + B ) - Hop to the side ( Opposite direction as facing + B ) - Hop 180 Turn ```````````````````````` ```````````````````````` Mach Bike ```````````````````````` Name: Mach Bike Meaning: Mach (Speed) Bike Speed: Very Fast Usefulness: 7 ```````````````````````` The mach bike is the better choice for the average player. The speed is very fast so it allows for very quick travel. It helps when a player needs to get down a route quickly. It's much faster than running. ```````````````````````` Uses: Get up steep slopes Move around quickly Get over cracks in Sky Pillar ```````````````````````` So overall I would have to say that the Mach Bike is more useful but at times you will need to use the Acro Bike. ================================================= 4. Tips And Tricks | \_______________________________________________/ Here are a few tips and tricks for the game. ================== Tip Number: 001 Name: Beginning Help Rating: 5/10 Description: If you start out with torchic you may have a hard time with the first gym. A good way to make it easier is to catch a Wingull on route 103 because it automatically comes with Water Gun, which makes it super effective against rock type pokemon. ================== Tip Number: 002 Name: Early Potion Rating: 2/10 Description: When you begin the game, if you go to your PC you can withdraw a potion. It isn't much but at the beginning of the game it can be a big help. ================== Tip Number: 003 Name: Legendary Save Rating: 10/10 Description: ALWAYS save before fighting a legendary pokemon. This allows you to reset your gameboy if you die or kill them so that you have another chance. This also helps for battles against trainers if you do not want to die. ================== Tip Number: 004 Name: Itemfinder Rating: 3/10 Description: Whenever you see a suspicious looking area such as a dead end, use the itemfinder once you get it because you may find some very useful items such as PP Ups and Rare Candies. ================== _______________________________________________ / \ | H.
