First, it's a role-playing game where you can challenge your friends. Second, you can move your characters and items from one game to another. This is great because there are a few items and pokemon that you can only get once per game. When I want more of those items I start a new game while keeping all the stuff I want to hold onto on a base game. I call going through a game just to get stuff 'Harvesting'. This is the harvest guide because it will tell you how to get all the items and legendaries that you want. I wanted a walkthrough that would focus on just getting the items and legendaries. I'd already played the game before, so a basic walkthrough would be great as long as it covered the items well. Finding nothing that really satisfied me for that exact purpose, I went ahead and wrote this guide. I wrote it while playing through Sapphire, and tested everything again in Ruby. I've gone over every square inch of the games with the itemfinder to make sure that I wasn't missing any items. I think I've finally got it how I want it, so I figured I'd upload this to Gamefaqs since it's been so much help to me. Enjoy. ________________________________________________________________________[TIPS] /Tips / -------------------------------- Power up your pokemon. It can slow down the harvest if you have to fight a lot to level up your pokemon so that you can meet the challenges. You could also just trade your main pokemon or two to your base game and have them be run through the elite 4 a few times (with an experience share). You can also give them good movesets that way. After they are at a level that you are comfortable with you can send them back. Even without a single badge these high level creatures will obey you completely because you are the original owner! Get whatever breedable pokemon you want from the start. When you trade a pokemon over at the beginning it can be more annoying than it is worth because of it being an outsider and not obeying you after certain levels which can easily be exceeded at the beginning of the game. You can get around this annoyance by trading over an egg of the pokemon that you wish to play with and hatching it on the game that you are harvesting. When the pokemon hatches it will be under your trainer ID, so it will obey you no matter what level it is! ________________________________________________________________________[WALK] /Walkthrough / -------------------------------- This walkthrough is very minimalistic. I am only going to list what items you can get as you go through the game as well as minor mention of story. Any items listed without a description of how to get them are automatically obtained in the story or are clearly visible and accessible through a route you must take. Any berries without a description are growing on trees. If you don't want to get ALL the items go to QUICK which has -Littleroot Town- Change the settings to speed up the game. Go next door and upstairs to meet your 'rival'. Then go north to route 101 to get your starter. You'll be taken back to town, when you're ready go north again to route 101 then to Oldale Town. -Oldale Town- Items: Potion (from worker wearing apron), Potion (in your item storage on the computer) Can't buy poke balls, can't trade with another game, just walk through unless you want some potions. Go north to route 103. -Route 103- Beat your rival and head back to Littleroot Town. -Littleroot Town- Items: Pokedex, poke ball x 5, running shoes You are automatically given new items. Head back to Oldale town and head west to route 102. You can take a pit stop in Oldale town to buy pokeballs if you'd like. You can also go upstairs in the pokemon center to trade with another game. This would be a good time to get yourself something to rush the game with. Just remember that you'll need at least two pokemon with you in order to trade, and if you get them past level 10 they won't obey you until you get the second badge in dewford. Get some zigzagoon to use for pickup. -Route 102- Items: Pecha Berry x 2, Oran Berry x 2, Potion (south of the career furthering girl) -Petalburg City- Go into the gym, talk to your dad and you'll end up teaching Wally how to get a pokemon. After that's finished head west to route 104. -Route 104- Items: Pecha Berry x 2, Oran Berry x 2, Poke ball (enter Petalburg woods and go east until you find a path going back to route 104), Antidote (hidden in beach, SW), Heart Scale (hidden in beach west side), Potion (hidden in beach, most NW spot) Go north to Petalburg Woods. -Petalburg Woods- Items: Parlyz heal, Great ball, Ether, Potion (hidden in grass east of entrance), Poke Ball (hidden in grass after attacked by Team Maqua) Head north to route 104 -Route 104- Items: Cheri Berry x 4, Oran Berry x 2, Leppa Berry x 2, TM09-Bullet Seed (from boy near entrance), Potion(behind Pretty Petal Shop), Super Potion (behind shop, hidden), Poke ball (behind shop, hidden), Wailmer Pail (the girl in the top of the Pretty Petal Shop), Random Berry (from girl in the right of the Pretty Petal Shop), Chesto Berry (from the old woman at the far right of the bridge) Decent amount of items on this route, though many of them are not very good. Near the entrance is the Pretty Petal Flower Shop, where you can't buy anything yet but can get some items for free. I don't think they understand the concept of 'shop'. Keep heading north into Rustboro City. -Rustboro City- Items: X Defend (from route 104 go behind the gate and follow it to the end), Premier ball (from the boy on the second floor of the building to the west of the southern entrance), Quick Claw (from teacher in trainer's school) HM01-Cut (house left of pokecenter), TM39-Rock Tomb Go ahead and beat the gym and get the Cut HM. When you share records with another game (Ruby, Sapphire or Emerald) your secret base will appear in the other game, allowing the other game to play against your team once per day. The team that will appear in your secret base will be the same as the team you have when you mix records. This can have three major uses, either focusing on EV training, Exp gain, or setting up a new challenge. If you want to get experience the best bet is a team full of Chansey or Blissey, since they give the most experience of any pokemon in the third generation. Whatever you do, you might want to consider temporarily crippling the pokemon that will be in the base to simplify the training. You can register up to 10 secret bases. Registering the base means that it will stay there even if you mix records with a different game with a base in the same place. Registering occurs by booting up the computer in the secret base and registering it. Removing it from the registry is done the same way. __________________________________________________________________________[EV] /--EV Training / -------------------------------- The following pokemon give 3 EV points for the specified stat and as such can be useful for setting up a secret base EV training team. _____________________________________________________________________________ | HP | Azumarill, Blissey, Celebi, Clefable, Exploud, Jirachi, | | | Mew, Nidoqueen, Slaking, Walrein, Wigglytuff | |-------------------|---------------------------------------------------------| | Attack | Blaziken, Dragonite, Groudon, Machamp, Nidoking, | | | Salamence, Shiftry, Swampert, Tyranitar, Victreebel | |-------------------|---------------------------------------------------------| | Defense | Aggron, Golem, Metagross, Poliwrath, Regirock | |-------------------|---------------------------------------------------------| | Special Attack | Alakazam, Ampharos, Beautifly, Charizard, Gardevoir, | | | Gengar, Kyogre, Latios, Mewtwo, Moltres, Typhlosion, | | | Vileplume, Zapdos | |-------------------|---------------------------------------------------------| | Special Defense | Articuno, Bellossom, Blastoise, Dustox, Ho-oh, Latias, | | | Ludiculo, Lugia, Politoed, Regice, Slowking | |-------------------|---------------------------------------------------------| | Speed | Crobat, Jumpluff, Pidgeot, Raichu, Sceptile | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ___________________________________________________________________[GAME.BASE] /Game Bases / -------------------------------- If you're going to be harvesting games it's a good idea to set up one game in the same generation as a base of operations. This game will hold onto pokemon and items that can be used to speed up going through the other games and getting the items and legendaries that you want. _____________________________________________________________________[GB.GAME] /--Which Game / -------------------------------- There are five games to choose from, and all of them have their good and bad points. Fire Red & Leaf Green These are basically the same game in terms of items and legendaries. It's easy to get a ton of cash to buy stuff later on. If you're going to be harvesting from one of these, remember that it cannot trade with RSE until you get the National Dex. You can use a finished FRLG game to trade between, so FRLG make for decent bases. You won't be able to store up a lot of secret base here though. Ruby & Sapphire These won't be able to trade with a starting FRLG game, and there's not much to keep doing after you beat the game. You will be able to store up secret bases here, so that can be useful. If you don't plan on helping out the beginning of FRLG and don't mind not having a lot to do in your base then one of these might work fine. Emerald This is the game with the most legendaries and plenty of items. This makes it a game that's good to harvest from, but there's also a lot to be said about making it a base. It can store up secret bases, breeding is best on emerald over any of the others and the battle area gives you things to keep working at. If you want to keep doing things on your base or want to breed pokemon to get 3rd gen only moves your should consider emerald. Personally, I have two bases, emerald and fire red. I'll probably reset emerald eventually and hand over everything to fire red while I go through it a few times to get decent Lati@s and other things. _____________________________________________________________________[GB.POKE] /--Which Pokemon / -------------------------------- So, what pokemon should be kept on a base? These mostly fit to your personal needs and are in the following categories. Battle Tower Team Set yourself up some level 50 pokemon to be a battle tower team if you want to do that. If you're going to the RS battle tower you can also get some level 100 pokemon for that. Breeding A pokemon that has the ability Magma Armor or Flame Body. These halve the hatch time of eggs. Magcargo and slugma have both of those abilities. Also get dittos with natures that you like so you can everstone them onto the babies. Regis Wailord and relicanth take a little time to find, but you need both of them to unlock the regi trio. If you want to get them you should hold onto these two. Condition Pokemon Pokemon with high condition can be used to get the different colored scarves in RSE. Rather than blending pokeblocks each time just keep the pokemon that you boosted to get more scarves on later runs. Pickuppers Pokemon with the ability pickup can get you more items as you go through the game. Level is ignored in FRLG and RS, but if you're going through emerald you might want a few high level (91+) pickup pokemon for the best stuff. See bulbapedia for the full list. Also, pickuppers are easily found early on in RS, but you might want to import some for FRLG. HM Slaves You can just trade over pokemon with the correct HM moves and never worry about having to find the HMs anymore! Pokedex Fillers What pokemon do you need to fill a pokedex that are difficult to obtain? Legendaries If you want to use the repeat ball, or want to track the runners better you should keep at least one of each legendary that you plan to keep catching. Secret Base Pokemon Trade these over to the harvest game, mix records, then get them back. See the secret base section for more information about good pokemon. Capture Team Capturers come in a few different flavors. There are the damagers, statusers, and the trappers. Damagers should have false swipe, which cannot KO a pokemon but will leave them at 1 HP. They can also work well with endeavor, though it's not very useful against pokemon that can heal themselves. To use endeavor effectively poison the pokemon that knows endeavor and walk around until it only has 1 HP left. Heal it of it's poison and put it at the lead of the party. Use endeavor to reduce the target to 1 HP! (Thanks to Gabriel for the hints on endeavor) Statusers should have an accurate sleep and/or paralysis move. Trappers should have block, spider web, or mean look as well as baton pass. Here are some ideas of who should be used. Damagers: The following final evolution pokemon learn false swipe. Fearow, Parasect, Farfetch'd, Marowak, Pinsir, Scizor, Heracross, Smeargle, Sceptile, Shiftry, Breloom, Ninjask, Shedinja, Mawile, Zangoose. Of these, the hardest hitters (all of which also learn swords dance) are, from least to greatest, shiftry, pinsir and heracross, scizor and breloom. Of these, I would most recommend breloom. I set up a team with various damagers but as time went on I stopped using them all except for breloom. Why? Because he also learns spore, the 100% sleep move! My breloom is adamant, level 100, and knows swords dance, spore, false swipe, and substitute. Substitute is vital for capture breloom as otherwise he can get destroyed by his weaknesses. The downside to breloom is that you need to be able to trade between games to get a farfetch'd to breed with to get false swipe. If you're playing on a DS or otherwise have no other way to trade, the following pokemon can make decent false swipers. Zangoose -Ruby only. Swords dance at level 10, False Swipe at level 55. Sceptile -Has a lower attack, but no breeding needed. Level 59 for false swipe, need to go to a tutor for swords dance. Pinsir -Safari Zone. Breed false swipe from nincada, learn swords dance at level 49. Heracross -Safari Zone. Breed false swipe from nincada, learn swords dance from a tutor. Pokemon that didn't make the cut Mawile -Ruby only, had to get both moves from Zangoose anyways so it's redundant. Shiftry -Needed to get false swipe from ruby-only zangoose. Ninjask and Shedinja -Both die far too easily for a prolonged battle. The following final evolution pokemon learn endeavor. Beedrill, Raticate, Sunflora, Dunsparce, Hitmontop, Swampert, Swellow, Dodrio, Sceptile, Aggron, Crawdaunt. None of the stats matter for an endeavor user but it's speed. Well, lower HP lets it get to 1 HP faster, but for in-battle the speed is the most important. The following aren't available in RS: Beedrill, Raticate, Sunflora, Hitmontop, and Dunsparce. The fastest user of endeavor is Swellow, which is easily obtainable in both Ruby and Sapphire and learns endeavor at level 28. Statuser You'll need a pokemon that can use a good status move. Sleep is best, but paralysis can also be used. Best paralysis moves are thunderwave (100%), stun spore (75%) and glare (75%) Best sleep moves are spore (100%), Yawn (100%, takes a turn), sleep powder (75%), and lovely kiss (75%) Compound eyes is a great ability for status moves as it boosts the accuracy. Venonat and butterfree can have the ability and learn both sleep powder and stun spore. Trapper Trappers are used to catch a runner and allow others to catch it. Trappers should be the same level as the runner that they are trying to catch so that repels can be used. Lati@s are level 40 runners, and the three beasts from FRLG are level 50 runners. Getting a good trapper can be tricky due to the limitations in choice and level requirements. Only bother with a trapper if you really want to keep that masterball for later games where it won't be as needed. Baton pass is used to switch to a pokemon that can status and damage the runner but still not let them run. There are only three trapping moves; mean look, block, and spider web. There is only a very small group that learns trapping moves and baton pass. They are: Ariados, Smeargle, Umbreon. Ariados learns spider web at level 32, and learns baton pass by breeding. It is a very slow pokemon and it is not recommended as a trapper. Umbreon learns mean look at level 42 and baton pass at level 36 as eevee. It cannot be used for Lati@s, and of the beasts only suicune cannot roar it away. Umbreon can be a decent trapper as long as all you care about is suicune. Smeargle is the winner. It has the highest speed of this group, and it can learn any move through sketch. I have two trapper smeargle, one at level 40 and the other at level 50. They know mean look (though block or spider web are equally effective), baton pass, spore (to help with sleeping if needed) and ingrain. Ingrain is nice in that it does not allow you to switch out or be switched out unless you use baton pass. This means that the roaring of entei and raikou cannot end the battle and will in fact be a waste of a turn. Ingrain will also heal you a little every turn. _____________________________________________________________________[LEGENDS] /Legends / -------------------------------- Here is the list of legendary pokemon available in Ruby and Sapphire. Yes, there are some other legendaries available, but those can only be obtained with an event and those events are long over. If you can get to them it means that you are using a cheat, and if you're using a cheat why bother using this guide? NOTE: Now all of the third generation legendary pokemon may be obtained in the fourth generation. Of the pokemon available in this game... Kyogre -Available in Heart Gold Groudon -Available in Soul Silver Rayquaza -Available in Heart Gold and Soul Silver if you have Groudon and Kyogre The Regi's -Available in Platinum if you have the event Regigigas Lati@s -Available in Heart Gold and Soul Silver You can use a synchronizer in the fourth generation to get the nature you want so it might be easier to just get them all then if you have the right games or event pokemon. ___________________________________________________________________[POKEBALLS] /--Poke Balls / -------------------------------- There are two things to consider when choosing which poke balls to use. First, which ball will get the best capture rate. Second, what ball looks good with that pokemon? I've put my opinion for some of the legendaries in their own sections for what ball I think looks good. In this section I'll cover which balls do what. Poke Ball Capture Rate x 1 The most basic of poke balls. Only use it if you like the color or want a legendary in this basic ball. Great Ball Capture Rate x 1.5 A little better than a poke ball, but still no real reason to use it. Ultra Ball Capture Rate x 2 The ultra ball is used as the default ball to use when first capturing a legendary. Master Ball Capture Rate x 255 Guaranteed capture. Premier Ball Capture Rate x 1 Just like the poke ball, just white. Luxury Ball Capture Rate x 1 Makes the captured pokemon more friendly. Only one of these in the 3rd gen games. Net Ball Capture Rate x 3 if water or bug type. Rate is x 1 otherwise. Good for Kyogre. Nest Ball Capture Rate x 1 for anything above level 30 Since all legendaries are higher than level 30 this ball is not very useful. Dive Ball Capture Rate x 3 for underwater, x 1 otherwise. No legendaries are underwater, so this ball isn't very useful. Repeat Ball Capture Rate x 3 if already owned, x 1 otherwise Trade the legendary over and this is pretty good. Timer Ball Capture Rate varies by number of rounds 1-9 rounds gives capture rate of x 1 10-19 rounds gives capture rate of x 2 20-29 rounds gives capture rate of x 3 30+ rounds gives capture rate of x 4 _____________________________________________________________________[CAPTURE] /--Capturing Tips / -------------------------------- If you can trade a version of the legendary over first the repeat ball can be used instead of the ultra ball. If you're using the ultra ball to start, switch over to the timer ball after the 9th round. They'll have the same capture rate then, but the timer ball is cheaper. Status effects make it easier to capture pokemon, though only two of them are really useful. Poison and burn should be avoided because they will limit how long your target will live. Freeze should also be avoided since it is only a secondary effect from damaging moves and never happens more than 10% of the time. The two good status effects are paralysis and sleep. Sleep gives a larger capture bonus and cannot be removed with refresh or rest, so sleep should be used the most often. There are two things that you can do to check certain stats of your opponent before you capture them. You can check the speed by making sure your pokemon is one point lower than the speed you want your target to be. This will take a little math but it's not hard. By the time you're ready to catch legendaries you'll have a badge that boosts your speed by 10%, rounded down. So if your speed displays at 78 then during battle you get a +7 to speed. To check the speed find the max speed that you want the legendary to have and make sure that your speed stat is one lower. Then when you battle it if you go first that means it's not as fast as you want and you can just reset the game without having to catch it and check it first. Another thing you can do is use moves that deal a specific amount of damage to check how much HP an enemy has. Night shade and Seismic toss deal the same damage as the user's max HP. This usually isn't as important but it is possible to check it early if so desired. Each legendary listed here has their stat range listed as well. An example is shown below. -Stat is the stat range for the stat if it's a negative nature and +Stat is the stat range for the stat if it's a positive nature. For example, a timid nature is negative for attack and positive for speed. Therefore the speed stat for the below pokemon will be between 94-108 depending on its IVs. These charts can be used to get a good idea of what the pokemon's IVs are and also helps calculate what speed you'll need to outspeed it for endeavor or what speed to be under for getting one with a good speed. _______________________________ | -Stat | Neutral | +Stat | |---------|---------|---------| HP | | 145-158 | | ------------------------------- Attack | 85-97 | 95-108 | 104-118 | ------------------------------- Defense | 77-89 | 86-99 | 94-108 | ------------------------------- Sp. Def | 117-129 | 131-144 | 144-158 | ------------------------------- Speed | 77-89 | 86-99 | 94-108 | ------------------------------- For capture pokemon see the section on game bases ([GB.POKE]) ______________________________________________________________________[KYOGRE] /--Kyogre / -------------------------------- Kyogre -(Water. Ability: Drizzle) Level 45 Kyogre is not available in Ruby. It is part of the Sapphire story line so nothing special is needed in order to get it. Balls that match Kyogre's color scheme include the dive ball and the net ball. Kyogre has great special attack and special defense. Kyogre has the following moves Body Slam (15) -Kyogre's physical attack. The main concern here is the 30% paralysis rate. Calm Mind (20) -Ups Kyogre's already impressive special attack and special defense. Ice Beam (10) -The best accurate ice attack. 10% chance of freezing. Hydro Pump (5) -A powerful water attack that just might miss. Boosted by the rain. _______________________________ | -Stat | Neutral | +Stat | |---------|---------|---------| HP | | 145-158 | | ------------------------------- Attack | 85-97 | 95-108 | 104-118 | ------------------------------- Defense | 77-89 | 86-99 | 94-108 | ------------------------------- Sp. Atk | 126-137 | 140-153 | 154-168 | ------------------------------- Sp. Def | 117-129 | 131-144 | 144-158 | ------------------------------- Speed | 77-89 | 86-99 | 94-108 | ------------------------------- Total moves before Struggle = 50. You might want to change the weather to sunshine to weaken Hydro Pump. If he gets a few Calm Minds in he'll be much more dangerous, so hurry and false swipe it down to 1 HP and put it to sleep and throw balls at it until it's captured. If you don't like the IVs or the nature (and again, nature is far more important!) soft reset until you have what you like. Don't use the masterball. He's not going anywhere. _____________________________________________________________________[GROUDON] /--Groudon / -------------------------------- Groudon -(Ground. Ability: Drought) Level 45 Groudon is not available in Sapphire. It is part of the Ruby story line so nothing special is needed in order to get it. Balls that match Groudon's color scheme include the poke ball and perhaps the repeat ball. Groudon has great attack and defense. Slash (20) -A physical, normal attack. Bulk Up (20) -Boosts Groudon's already impressive attack and defense. Earthquake (10) -A powerful ground attack. Fire Blast (5) -A powerful fire attack. 10% chance of burning the target. _______________________________ | -Stat | Neutral | +Stat | |---------|---------|---------| HP | | 145-158 | | ------------------------------- Attack | 126-137 | 140-153 | 154-168 | ------------------------------- Defense | 117-129 | 131-144 | 144-158 | ------------------------------- Sp. You might want to change the weather to rain to weaker Fire Blast. If he gets a few Bulk Ups in he'll be much more dangerous, so hurry and False Swipe it down to 1 HP, put it to sleep and throw balls at it until it's captured. If you don't like the IVs or the nature (and again, nature is far more important!) soft reset until you have what you like. Don't use the masterball. He's not going anywhere. ____________________________________________________________________[RAYQUAZA] /--Rayquaza / -------------------------------- Rayquaza (Dragon/Flying. Ability: Airlock) Level 70 Rayquaza is available in both Ruby and Sapphire. No balls really match Rayquaza's color scheme, but the luxury ball matches the shiny color scheme nicely. Rayquaza has great attack and special attack. You can get this one after beating the Elite Four. You'll need the mach bike. Head east of Pacifidlog town and keep near the north side of the route. Soon you'll see a path that you can go in. Follow it to the Sky Pillar. There are broken bits of floor that you need to ride over with the mach bike. Be careful in handling the corners and you'll get up there eventually. Use a repel to keep attacks from slowing you down at crucial spots. Save in front of Rayquaza. Fly (15) -A two turn attack. While he's in the air you cannot catch him. Rest (10) -Removes any status (but sleep) and restores all health. Then sleeps for two turns. Extremespeed (5) -A fast attack Outrage (15) -A powerful dragon attack that hits for two or three turns and leaves him confused afterwards. _______________________________ | -Stat | Neutral | +Stat | |---------|---------|---------| HP | | 227-248 | | ------------------------------- Attack | 193-212 | 215-236 | 236-259 | ------------------------------- Defense | 117-136 | 131-152 | 144-167 | ------------------------------- Sp. Rest and Outrage make Rayquaza a bit of a nuisance. Rest will get rid of paralysis at any time, so you probably should stick with sleep. Also, if he finishes his Outrage attack he'll get confused and might kill himself. To prevent this make sure to put him to sleep as soon as possible after he starts the attack. Get him down to 1 HP and put him to sleep and start tossing balls. When he uses rest get him down again, put him to sleep again, then toss more balls. Since he heals himself endeavor isn't the best move to use. Don't use the masterball. _______________________________________________________________________[REGIS] /-The Regis / -------------------------------- Unlocking the golem trio is a bit of a hassle. You'll need pokemon that know surf, dive, and dig. You'll also need a relicanth and a wailord for some reason. Get those all on a team and surf west from Pacifidlog town, keeping as far south as possible. When you hit route 134 you'll be on an island. Start from the bottom-left corner, go up 3 steps then surf left. Dive into the deep water. Follow the path and use dive in front of the markings on the wall. Put relicanth first in your party and wailord last. Talk to the markings in the back and you'll unlock the regis. ____________________________________________________________________[REGIROCK] /--Regirock / -------------------------------- Before trying to catch regirock you'll need to do the regi quest. After that, get a pokemon that knows strength and head to route 111 and into the desert. Head south to find regirock's lair. Talk to the markings, the go right, right, down, down. Then use strength and the lair will open. Save your game and talk to regirock. Regirock (Rock. Ability: Clear Body) Level 40 Rock Throw (15) - Damaging attack that may miss Curse (10) - Increases attack and defense but lowers speed Superpower (5) - Strong fighting attack that lowers attack and defense Ancientpower (5) - Mediocre attack that may raise all stats _______________________________ | -Stat | Neutral | +Stat | |---------|---------|---------| HP | | 114-126 | | ------------------------------- Attack | 76-87 | 85-97 | 93-106 | ------------------------------- Defense | 148-159 | 165-177 | 181-194 | ------------------------------- Sp. Def | 76-87 | 85-97 | 93-106 | ------------------------------- Speed | 40-51 | 45-57 | 49-62 | ------------------------------- Total moves before struggle = 45. Curse and superpower will work to keep his stats even until he runs out of superpowers. ___________________________________________________________________[REGISTEEL] /--Registeel / -------------------------------- Before trying to catch registeel you'll need to do the regi quest. After that, head to route 120 (between Fortree and Lilycove). Get to the south part of the route and go up the stairs. Keep heading north until you see registeel's lair. Once in, head to the center of the room and use fly to open the door. Save your game and talk to registeel. Registeel (Steel. Ability: Clear Body) Level 40 Metal Claw (35) - Mediocre attack that may raise attack Curse (10) - Increases attack and defense but lowers speed Superpower (5) - Strong fighting attack that lowers attack and defense Ancientpower (5) - Mediocre attack that may raise all stats _______________________________ | -Stat | Neutral | +Stat | |---------|---------|---------| HP | | 114-126 | | ------------------------------- Attack | 58-69 | 65-77 | 71-84 | ------------------------------- Defense | 112-123 | 125-137 | 137-150 | ------------------------------- Sp. Curse and superpower will work to keep his stats even until he runs out of superpowers. ______________________________________________________________________[REGICE] /--Regice / -------------------------------- Before trying to catch regice you'll need to do the regi quest. After that, head to route 105 (you'll need surf) and get to the large island on the west side. Cross it and surf north until you find regice's lair. Talk to the markings and leave them up on your screen for a few minutes until the door opens. Save your game and talk to regice. Regice (Ice. Ability: Clear Body) Level 40 Icy Wind (15) - Mediocre attack that may lower your speed Curse (10) - Increases attack and defense but lowers speed Superpower (5) - Strong fighting attack that lowers attack and defense Ancientpower (5) - Mediocre attack that may raise all stats _______________________________ | -Stat | Neutral | +Stat | |---------|---------|---------| HP | | 114-126 | | ------------------------------- Attack | 40-51 | 45-57 | 49-62 | ------------------------------- Defense | 76-87 | 85-97 | 93-106 | ------------------------------- Sp. Curse and superpower will work to keep his stats even until he runs out of superpowers. This won't help him with icy wind, however. _____________________________________________________________________[LATI@S] /-Lati@s / -------------------------------- Lati@s -(Dragon/Psychic. Ability: Levitate) Level 40. Latias is the female, or sister, version of Latios. Balls that match Latias' color scheme include the timer ball and the premier ball. Latias is found in pokemon Sapphire and is more defensive than her sibling. Latios is the male, or brother version of Latias. The ball that matches Latios' color scheme is the dive ball. Latios is found in Pokemon Ruby and is more offensive than his sibling. After beating the elite four the game will be saved and you'll need to reset. After going downstairs your dad will chat with you for a bit then take off. See the flashing TV? DON'T LOOK AT IT YET! Once you look at it Lati@s' nature and IVs will be set, so go get ready first! Go get whatever balls you may want/need as well as repels. I've never had to use more than 35 super repels to find her, and never ran out of my 50 timer balls. Who you bring with you should depend on if you already have a Lati@s in your base game. You will need a trapper, a damager and a statuser or any type, though unless the damager also has baton pass you may want to make sure that the damager and sleeper are one and the same, since once you no longer have the trap active lati@s will run away. The good part of having a lati@s in your base game is that you will be able to trade it over to sapphire or ruby and trade it right back. This will put lati@s in the pokedex for you and you won't even need any repels. If you don't have a lati@s tucked away somewhere you will need the repels and you will need to make sure your trapper is level 40. All stocked up? Have your team in the right order? Go back home, stand in front of the TV and save your game. Now take a look at it and you'll hear about a red Pokemon flying around Hoenn and the TV will stop flashing. Now lati@s has its nature and stats set and it traveling around the map. There are two different ways of finding her depending on whether you were able to get a lati@s in your pokedex or not. Lati@s in the pokedex method: Lati@s seems to hang out around Mauville a lot for me. Since she has a choice of the four nearby routes she seems to switch between them a bit. Get up there and check your pokedex. Look at lati@s' entry and check the area. You'll see where she is! If she's nearby where you are then change routes and she will move. If you just change routes she usually moves to a route she's near, but sometimes she'll go to a random location. Keep changing routes until she's either on the same route or getting further away. If she's getting further away then go into a house or cave, or fly base to the city you're hunting her from and she'll randomize where she's at. When you are on the same route as her then get into battles until you find her! (And yes, she can be found on the water as well as the land) No lati@s in the pokedex method: Fly over to Slateport City and travel north to route 110. Use a repel, hop on your bike and dash through the grass a bit. Remember to keep your level 40 trapper in the lead! If lati@s doesn't fight you after a few runs through the grass go through the purple door in the cabin to the north. Come back out and go through the grass again. Keep doing this until lati@s shows up in battle. You'll know it's her before the fight even starts because the screen goes to thick white lines right before the battle. If it's anything else then you forgot to spray some more repel. _____________________________________________________________________[LATIAS] /--Latias / -------------------------------- Read the Lati@s section before proceeding. Water sport (15) -Weakens the power of fire, but it only works once per battle. Every other time she uses it there is no effect, giving you a free turn. Refresh (20) -Removes poison, paralysis and burn. Since you should be putting her to sleep this move doesn't help her. Mist Ball (5) -Psychic damaging move with a 50% chance of dropping your special attack. Psychic (10) -Psychic damaging move with a 10% chance of dropping your special defense. _______________________________ | -Stat | Neutral | +Stat | |---------|---------|---------| HP | | 114-126 | | ------------------------------- Attack | 62-72 | 69-81 | 75-89 | ------------------------------- Defense | 69-80 | 77-89 | 84-97 | ------------------------------- Sp. Atk | 83-94 | 93-105 | 102-115 | ------------------------------- Sp. Def | 98-108 | 109-121 | 119-133 | ------------------------------- Speed | 83-94 | 93-105 | 102-115 | ------------------------------- Total moves before Struggle = 50. Now, the easiest way of capturing latias is by using a masterball. It takes enough time to find her each time you start looking that it's probably worth it. None of the gen 4 legendaries are as hard to find, thanks to the poketch, and unless you have a good trapper you're only going to be able to get one hit or status on her before you need to hunt her all over again. Do yourself a favor and use the masterball. What? You're doing a harvest game so you want to keep the masterball? You have a good trapper, damager and statuser? Then let's rock. First off use your trapping move and she'll waste her turn trying to run. Baton pass to your damager and get her health down. She can't restore her health, so if you need to baton pass again to get to your statuser there's nothing to worry about. Just don't forget that you cannot just switch out without a baton pass or else she'll just run right after the switch. The best status (as always) is sleep. More so in this case because paralysis can be cured any turn she feels like. Keep putting her to sleep and tossing the ball of your choice at her until she's caught. Now you can check her nature and IVs. Bear in mind that the IVs are preset to 'bad'. Four of the six IVs will be 0. Just be happy if you get a good nature and leave it at that. If you really don't like the nature then soft-reset the game and look at the TV to start again. If you saved any time after looking at the TV then you can't change the nature. _____________________________________________________________________[LATIOS] /--Latios / -------------------------------- Read the Lati@s section before proceeding. Protect (10) -Defends itself against any move you were going to use against it. Even statuses. Refresh (20) -Removes poison, paralysis and burn. Since you should be putting him to sleep this move doesn't help him. Luster Purge (5) -Psychic damaging move with a 50% chance of dropping your special defense. Psychic (10) -Psychic damaging move with a 10% chance of dropping your special defense. _______________________________ | -Stat | Neutral | +Stat | |---------|---------|---------| HP | | 114-126 | | ------------------------------- Attack | 69-80 | 77-89 | 84-97 | ------------------------------- Defense | 62-72 | 69-81 | 75-89 | ------------------------------- Sp. In essence, they are like achievements for that pokemon. They don't really help you in any way except for getting into the ribbon club in DPP, they're just there to show off or to have another thing to do. There are a number of ribbons that are available in the third generation that are not available in the fourth, so if you are interested in them at all it might be worth it for you to get some ribbons on prized pokemon before sending them up to the fourth generation. Here is a list of all the ribbons that can be earned in the third generation and how to get them. Champion Ribbon -Earned by beating the elite 4 in any 3rd generation game. Contest Ribbons -Earned by winning each contest at each rank. There are 20 of them Winning Ribbon -Earned by fighting at the level 50 battle tower challenge and winning seven in a row after 50 battles. Victory Ribbon -Earned by fighting at the level 100 battle tower challenge and winning seven in a row after 50 battles. Artist Ribbon -Earned by winning a master rank contest and having a lot of hearts. You must first activate the museum art quest for it to happen though. The reported number of hearts seems to change depending on the person reporting it. I think it's a mixture of how many hearts AND stars are at the end screen. I had to get 10 hearts to get this ribbon on my first time because I only had one star (no pokeblocks). Effort Ribbon -In Slateport City Market for pokemon with maxed EVs. Can also be obtained in the fourth generation. Earth Ribbon -Only in Colloseum and XD. Clear Mt. Battle (100 battles) without changing your team. ________________________________________________________________________[ACK] /Acknowledgements / -------------------------------- Game Freak Gamefaqs Bulbapedia Smogon ______________________________________________________________________[LEGAL] /Legal / -------------------------------- This guide is Copyright 2010 by Califer This guide is only allowed at gamefaqs.com.
