================================================= RIVER CITY RANSOM EX CHARACTER LISTING MINI GUIDE ================================================= (version 1.1, last updated 3/23/04) By Buktooth88 >:B This guide is meant to be viewed in Notepad. It's readable in other programs but the lines will look all funky. I'll git you sucka! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- =========== FAQ HISTORY =========== 3/23/04, v1.1- Thanks to the good people at the gameFAQs boards, all unknown moves have been figured out. I figured out Mochizuki's Nitoro Attack like one minute after I submitted the guide though... I must have deactivated the move on accident my first time through. -_- Anyway, fixed some mistakes, and that's pretty much all there is left to do in this guide. Well... maybe add in the character names for the English version and add in their starting monetary amounts... Hrm. MAYBE I'll add in background stories for the characters too, but that seems kinda doubtful at this point. Anyway, don't expect any more updates at least until the English version is released. 3/19/04, v1.0- Messing around with the game, stumbled across a code on Momotato's site, decided to slap together a character stat/movelist guide. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ============== THE CHARACTERS ============== Since many of these characters are impossible to play normally (as of right now any way), all of these stats have been found using the "service0" code. If you don't know what I'm talking about, check out Momotato's excellent Downtown page at: http://home.nc.rr.com/momotato/downtown.html Anyway, everything should be pretty self explanatory. Kunio and Riki's stats are based off of their CPU versions, and special moves that aren't explained in depth are normally purchasable in the game. If you don't know the Japanese names of the moves, check Momotato's site. I chose not to list the starting monetary amount for every character because I didn't even think about doing it until I got all the way down to Toudou. :/ Anyway, he's the only character in which the money you start with is actually a factor so don't count on me adding that any time soon. -Kunio (Main character in white uniform) ------ Punch =52 Kick =87 Weapon =50 Defense =51 Hitting power =52 Power =51 Speed =51 Spring (?) =51 Ki =166 Vitality =146 Maha Kick -Riki (Main character in blue uniform) ----- Punch =96 Kick =49 Weapon =42 Defense =51 Hitting power =60 Power =60 Speed =30 Spring (?) =56 Ki =166 Vitality =146 Maha Punch -Sugata (Purple uniform, Kunio's buddy) ------- Punch =49 Kick =25 Weapon =24 Defense =18 Hitting power =30 Power =34 Speed =34 Spring (?) =38 Ki =92 Vitality =84 Bakudan Punch- Hold A, press B Charge all the way to the second "stance" then press B to do one of those generic Kung Fu lunge punches that you see in every fighting game. Knocks the opponent really far away though, which is kinda cool. -Sonokawa (Leader of the Senridai Bombers gang, light blue with glasses) --------- Punch =16 Kick =16 Weapon =24 Defense =24 Hitting power =33 Power =16 Speed =24 Spring (?) =24 Ki =68 Vitality =58 Big Bang- while stunned, up up Probably the hardest move to activate in the game. To become stunned (your character slouches over and starts panting), you have to get 3 times in a rapid succession WITHOUT FALLING DOWN. This hardly ever happens. Opponents will usually hit you twice and stop, or knock you down in one hit, or your own teammates will interrupt the combo, etc. Anyway, if you DO manage to activate the Big Bang, Sonokawa squeezes out a big fart. The screen flashes, and all enemies on screen take a lot of damage and fall down. Pretty funny, pretty neat, pretty impossible to ever use the move. -Sawaguchi (first boss you fight. Grey uniform, green hair) ---------- Punch =28 Kick =24 Weapon =25 Defense =28 Hitting power =28 Power =25 Speed =28 Spring (?) =28 Ki =76 Vitality =56 Jibun Shuriken- Dash, down down Given Sawaguchi's status as a chump in the Kunio universe, it's kinda surprising that Atlus gave him one of the best special moves in the game. Sawaguchi dives at his opponent and spins LATERALLY. Yeah, not like a Bison Psycho crusher kinda deal, but more like spinning along his X axis. Anyway, he does multiple hits (plus knockdown usually) while spinning and really good damage. -Nishimura (grey uniform, glasses, found in the first factory) ---------- Punch =68 Kick = 6 Weapon =26 Defense =21 Hitting power = 5 Power =71 Speed = 6 Spring (?) =10 Ki =42 Vitality =252 (!) Tame Punch- Hold A Nishimura needs to charge all the way to the second "stance" before letting go of punch. He then shakes for a bit and lets loose a big punch. If it hits it sends the opponent flying, but your chances of hitting a moving opponent with it are pretty much nil. Harite Special -Kamijou (one half of the "purple duo" of bosses. He has the orange hair) -------- Punch =30 Kick =26 Weapon =30 Defense =35 Hitting power =33 Power =27 Speed =30 Spring (?) =35 Ki =38 Vitality =70 Boomerang Nage- hold B Kamijou throws his weapon, and if it misses it comes flying back towards him. The dumb thing is, HE DOESN'T CATCH IT. So basically if you miss an opponent in front of you you have a random chance of hitting somebody behind you. Whee. Can be done with thrown HUMANS, though... which is kinda fun. -Yamamoto (the other half of the "purple duo". He carries the stick) --------- Punch =28 Kick =26 Weapon =36 Defense =38 Hitting power =33 Power =22 Speed =30 Spring (?) =30 Ki =38 Vitality =76 Boomerang Nage- hold B Exactly the same thing as Kamijou's move. Bleh. -Kinoshita (Blond haired dour lookin dude in the park with the chain) ---------- Punch =44 Kick =45 Weapon =48 Defense =38 Hitting power =51 Power =43 Speed =45 Spring (?) =44 Ki =122 Vitality =122 Devil Chain- down down As you've probably guessed, Kinoshita needs a chain in order to do this move. Upon performing the Devil Chain, Kinoshita does a spin and throws his chain straight forward. If he makes contact with an opponent they get wrapped up in the chain and can't do any attacks until they fall down. Not very useful (especially since he's giving up his chain every time he does the move), but the expression on the captured opponents faces are pretty funny. -Taira (red uniform, goofy depressed look, red hair) ------ Punch =48 Kick =46 Weapon =50 Defense =44 Hitting power =40 Power =49 Speed =49 Spring (?) =42 Ki =122 Vitality =142 Bakuden Buster- A Fun move. Taira does sort of a Frankensteiner on his opponent. -Mochizuki (red uniform, brown hair. Found right after the tunnel) ---------- Punch =64 Kick =34 Weapon =17 Defense =48 Hitting power =39 Power =36 Speed =115 Spring (?) =52 Ki =114 Vitality =116 Nitoro Attack- dash, dash My favorite move in the game! Mochizuki teleports to the nearest opponent and smacks them with a kick. Looks neat, travels HUGE distances in a flash if the nearest opponent is all the way across the map. If you're having problems doing the move, just mash on forward on the d-pad and it should come out. -Kobayashi (red uniform, orange'ish flat top, found in the 2nd factory) ---------- Punch =59 Kick =58 Weapon =43 Defense =38 Hitting power =61 Power =57 Speed =84 Spring (?) =53 Ki =170 Vitality =164 Glide Chop- Jump, up up Kobayashi jumps up and makes like Superman and dives at his opponent. If he connects, he does good damage and bounces off, during which you can hit up up again to do another Glide Chop. Hyper Guard -Hayasaka (red uniform, black hair. Appears with Mochizuki after 5 fights) --------- Punch =27 Kick =26 Weapon =7 Defense =38 Hitting power =39 Power =32 Speed =36 Spring (?) =36 Ki =94 Vitality =64 Kasoku Otoshi- Jump, up up Pick up a downed opponent with the B button. NOT the A button, HAS to be the B button. Jump and hit up up, and Hayasaka will slam them into the ground similar to Griffon/Tizoc's special grab in Garou: MOTOW. Well, without the spinning. It does pretty pitiful damage, but that probably reflects Hayasaka's puny weapons stat. Maha Tataki -Maeda (same blue uniform as Riki. Incredibly goofy eyes) ------ Punch =36 Kick =77 Weapon =31 Defense =40 Hitting power =64 Power =63 Speed =20 Spring (?) =52 Ki =140 Vitality =134 Maeda No Tobikeri- Hold B, press A You have to hold B ALL the way to the second "stance" thingy, THEN hit A. Maeda does a flip in place and kicks, and if it hits the opponent flies all the way around the world and lands on the other side of the screen. Pretty impossible to hit a moving opponent with this. -Kumada (green hair, REALLY cross eyed. found on the same screen as Kumada) ------- Punch =21 Kick =21 Weapon =12 Defense =68 Hitting power =87 Power =93 Speed =42 Spring (?) =64 Ki =132 Vitality =172 Seoi Special- B A really nice move, Kumada automatically grabs the opponent and does an over-the-shoulder throw, hitting everybody around him also. If you mash on B, Kumada will slam his opponent into the ground, pick them up and toss them again. Ningen Gyorai -Himada (red hair, sunglasses. Found on the map directly after the sauna) ------- Punch =38 Kick =51 Weapon =15 Defense =77 Hitting power =40 Power =40 Speed =44 Spring (?) =43 Ki =120 Vitality =84 Funky Kick- Hold B Himada does a huge wind up with his foot (which can hit opponents behind you) then makes like a place kicker in football and does a huge punt. Launches opponents really high and can also launch downed opponents. -Toudou (red uniform, brown hair, crazy big eyebrows) ------- Punch =1 Kick =1 Weapon =1 Defense =1 Hitting power =1 Power =1 Speed =1 Spring (?) =1 Ki =2 Vitality =2 No special moves at all, but starts out with a whopping 101000 yen. I wonder what the deal with this guy is? Is he like the "Dan" of the Kunio series? -Onizuka (red uniform, looks like a zombie with green hair) -------- Punch =51 Kick =52 Weapon =35 Defense =86 Hitting power =92 Power =128 Speed =23 Spring (?) =45 Ki =140 Vitality =236 Dai Sharin Nage- hold B When you hold an item/person, hold B and let go to throw it extra hard. Snore. He doesn't even get a different animation. Ningen Drill -Gouda (green uniform, face looks like Kunio's, Reihou "gatekeeper") ------ Punch =51 Kick =48 Weapon =28 Defense =77 Hitting power =108 Power =60 Speed =53 Spring (?) =60 Ki =178 Vitality =172 Zutsuki Special- dash + hold B, release fairly quickly Running headbutt kinda like a bull. Head Bomb- Hold B Gouda flies high up and shoots down head-first. Looks kinda neat. -Godai (blue uniform, ...weird eyes, blue hair, found on 2nd floor of Reihou) ------ Punch =43 Kick =33 Weapon =115 Defense =42 Hitting power =43 Power =64 Speed =48 Spring (?) =44 Ki =180 Vitality =156 Bou Special- down down Requires either the lead pipe or the wooden stick. Godai spins around holding the stick out. Godai Special- up up Also requires either stick. Godai twirls the stick and flies forward and back really quickly. Pretty cool looking. -Ryuichi (brown haired Double Dragon twin) -------- Punch =68 Kick =86 Weapon =78 Defense =78 Hitting power =58 Power =60 Speed =78 Spring (?) =78 Ki =196 Vitality =196 Ranpuu Kyaku- jump+B You have to hit B on the way down from the jump, then he does his Double Dragon Cyclone Kick thingamajigy. You can mash the button to stay in the air kinda like the Screw or the Ningen Drill, but it's not invulnerable like those two moves are. While you're mashing the kick, you'll steadily be rising higher and higher. Bakuma Kyaku- hold B and press A The crazy cool flying knee from Double Dragon 2! Doesn't make opponents fly all crazy-like though. :/ Muei Kyaku -Ryuji (blonde twin) ------ Punch =86 Kick =68 Weapon =78 Defense =78 Hitting power =58 Power =60 Speed =78 Spring (?) =78 Ki =196 Vitality =196 Ranpuu Kyaku- jump+B You have to hit B on the way down from the jump, then he does his Double Dragon Cyclone Kick thingamajigy. You can mash the button to stay in the air kinda like the Screw or the Jibun Gyorai, but it's not invulnerable like those two moves are. While you're mashing the kick, you'll steadily be rising higher and higher. Tensatsuken- Hold A and press B A really fast jumping uppercut ala Ryu's Shoryuken in Street Fighter 2. It's actually pretty hard to hit anybody with this since the range is really dinky. Launches enemies really high up, though... which can set up some fun juggle combos. Muei Kyaku -Yamada (last boss, purple (??) hair) ------- Punch =127 Kick =117 Weapon =128 Defense =115 Hitting power =118 Power =127 Speed =128 Spring (?) =124 Ki =255 Vitality =255 Yamada Jutsu- up up The incredibly cheap telekinetic move. Hit up up to levitate any inanimate objects (as well as downed opponents), then hit a button to launch them all at the nearest enemy for insane damage. You can also just toss downed opponents onto the ground and do a ton of damage. Screw Kyouretsu Kyaku ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ======= CREDITS ======= -Momotato For being an all-around excellent source of information about this great (and very Japanese) game on the gameFAQS forums.
