As this is my first guide ever being posted, I hope it will be of some help to everyone. <<<<>>>> After you fall from the branches and the nest onto the mushroom and Cierra joins your party, you will notice three movement choices. Left, Up, and Right. If you chose to go up, you will skip the maze. However, if you chose to go right into what Cierra believes is a shortcut, you will be stuck in a maze called The Lost Forest. This maze is confusing at first but actually very easy if you learn how it works. Here is some information you may want to know before I explain the maze: Red Lighted Section = Fall Purple Lighted Section = Spring Green Lighted Section = Summer White Lighted Section = Winter N = North S = South E = East W = West --Notes-- *You will not encounter any demons in the forest *Summer and Winter are always paired together on the signs *Fall and Spring are always paired together on the signs *Each sign except the Spring sign has some words faded on the directions. However, you will always be able to tell which direction you must go from that season by looking at whatever few words that you can see or by process of elimination. *You should not come across a sign where you cannot see at least a part of a word on one of the two choices (except the Winter section). Therefore, you will be able to conclude which direction is which season. *Each section has a sign which shows direction to Summer, Spring, Winter, and Fall from that section in particular. They are all different from each other and all change direction from Part I to Part II except for Winter. For example, the Summer and Spring section won't have the same sign. \\\\ Guide to Forest Part I - Beginning at Spring Section //// --Spring Sign-- Summer, winter, spring and fall... N:White Snow Winter S:Bright Sun Summer E:Blooming Flowers Spring W:Vivid Leaves Fall The forest shall move as the seasons pass. Time passes in cycles. Ok, lets begin the guide. You begin in the Spring section with a riddle in the sign above. Now you have four directions you can choose. Selecting any direction will allow you to change your seasons. Of one of those directions, you will be in the same season as you currently are in. This is because each direction on the signs point to four seasons, which include the one you are currently in. If you read the notes above, you will notice that each sign in all the seasons except Spring will be withered away and you will not be able to read the directions fully. You will still be able to figure out what season is in what direction by any letters that are readable and process of elimination (Except the Winter section in Part II) All the information needed to navigate the guide is in the Extras section. So, to understand the maze, learn from the directions given to you and if you have tried exploring yourself, you probably have seen one or all the sequences where Ein's party talks about the riddle. The riddle is like a clock and changes each time you move. Make sure you remember the Spring sign as it gives you the order of seasons you must travel through: Summer then Winter then Spring then Fall. Now, when you look at the Spring sign, you will see directions from that point to any season. Don't forget to check every sign you go to in each season for your next direction. To continue the maze onto Part II, follow the order of seasons from each sign. If you want to skip the seasons maze onto Part II then from the Spring section, move: South then East then North then West in a counter-clockwise order on a compass. You will end up in the fall section where the sign will flash. If you wish to grab the event and/or battle item in this forest, then go to the Event & Battle Items section. If you mess the order up by accident, don't be discouraged. The clock always resets so you have to always start from the Spring section. [Summer Winter Spring Fall South East North West] \\\\ Event & Battle Item Section - Beginning at Spring Section //// To get the event item Aron Doll, all you have to do is go through all the seasons in a simple order. To do this, start from the Spring section and move: Up Down Up Down (Winter, Fall, Summer, Spring) You will end up in the Spring section again with a blue treasure chest sitting right next to the Spring sign. Open it and keep the item. Cierra will say it's cute. You now have your Aron Doll event item! If you wish to get an Ice Crest, then move onto the second paragraph. From here, just follow the same directions from Guide to Forest Part I to get to Guide to Forest Part II and you will have completed the maze. This part was contributed by pentarou. I thank him for this contribution. In order to get the battle item Ice Crest, start from the Spring Section and move: Right Down Up Down (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter) You will end up in the Winter section with a brown treasure chest sitting right next to the Winter sign. Open it and you will receive an Ice Crest. From here, go up to the Spring section and just follow the same directions from Guide to Forest Part I to get to Guide to Forest Part II and you will have completed the maze. \\\\ Guide to Forest Part II - Beginning at Fall Section //// --Fall Sign-- N:... ... ... ... ... ... Summer S:... ... ... ... Snow Winter E:... ... ... ... ... ... Fall W:Bloo... ... ... ... ... ... ...wers Spring Spring, summer, fall and winter... The path will be opened. Fail, and all will be undone. After you end up in the Fall section the sign will flash. This part allows for no mistake in direction because if you go to the wrong season, the seasons will reset back to Part I and you'll have to get yourself back to Part II. Like Part I, Part II has a different order you must travel: Spring then Summer then Fall then Winter. Now follow the directions on the signs through the seasons and you will be done. If you want to skip Part II and finish the maze then from the Fall section only, move West then South then North then South. Once you end up in the Winter section, you will notice the same sign as in Part I because the signs never change. All you have to do to finish The Lost Forest maze is move in any direction (it doesn't matter which) and you will be out. [Spring Summer Fall Winter West South North South] Finally, we made it back. Yes, but we can't rest here. Escaped the Lost Forest!!! 20,000pts. \\\\ Extras //// --Events in the Forest-- For the following three events, Ein's party tries to unravel the riddle and gives you hints to completing the maze: A. Move through any 5 sections and your party members will talk about the riddle B. Move through any 10 sections and your party members will talk about the riddle C. Move through any 15 sections and your party members will talk about the riddle *In order to get the event item "Aran Doll," start from the Spring section and move Up, Down, Up, Down. This leads you through Winter, Fall, Summer, and back to Spring where a treasure chest will be sitting next to the sign. --Directions on Each Section's Signs-- -Maze Part I- *Winter Section N:Blooming Flowers Spring S:Vivid Leaves Fall E:Bright Sun Summer W:White Snow Winter *Fall Section N:Bright Sun Summer S:White Snow Winter E:Vivid Leaves Fall W:Blooming Flowers Spring *Summer Section N:Vivid Leaves Fall S:Blooming Flowers Spring E:White Snow Winter W:Bright Sun Summer *Spring Section N:White Snow Winter S:Bright Sun Summer E:Blooming Flowers Spring W:Vivid Leaves Fall <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> -Maze Part II- *Winter Section N:Blooming Flowers Spring S:Vivid Leaves Fall E:Bright Sun Summer W:White Snow Winter *Spring Section (Walk the path of the seasons.) A big thanks for your help.-- pentarou : "Probably been said before, but it's UDUD for an aran doll (quest item), RDUD for an ice crest." agesboy : For providing a simple tip after I finished the guide. Gray Fox: Only for the reason that he had posted a walkthrough with directions through the maze on GameFaqs before me. I did not take any information from his comprehensive walkthrough. --My Thoughts-- When I wrote this guide, I had just gotten Riviera not too long ago. It is a great game (despite me not finishing it yet). When I first came across The Lost Forest, I was baffled. How do I get out of this place? How do you solve the riddle? I had wished I hadn't saved before going in but also wanted to know how I could get out. It took me about an hour or two to personally figure out how to navigate the maze. By writing down some notes on what Ein's party said and the signs, I was able to fully navigate my way out of the maze but one thing remained. When i was going through the forest, somehow I had found an event item called Aron Doll but didn't know how to get it. After that, I went online and looked for any information on GameFaqs. Only the walkthrough from Gray Fox had any information on the maze, and he only explained how to navigate the maze. So I decided to write my own guide and asked on the forums if anyone had any information on the maze. Noone was answering yet so I thought I'll work on the guide for now. After trial & error and recording my steps, I finally figured out how to get the Aron Doll. I completed this guide and refreshed the page where I posted my plea for help. Oddly enough, pentarou had posted how to get the doll AND an Ice Crest. I went through all that work for nothing huh? =D Anyway, I added his information to this guide, did a few fixes here and there, and now I'm done. 7/12/05 gmt -5 4:00AM EST By the way, if anyone wishes to e-mail me any information concerning The Lost Forest ONLY (such as suggestions/tips on anything and especially clarification, questions, mistakes, or things I missed), then please do at my e-mail listed below. Please do not spam.
