Copyright 3.1 End of Walkthrough (1.) ________________________________________________________________________________ INTRODUCTION Okay I don't know much about Samurai Deeper Kyo but what I do know is that it is an anime series. It was made up of 26 episodes and their were two games made for it. This one and one for playstation. I also understood that it used to be a manga. Well this game is the first thing I've ever heard of it, but this is a pretty nice game. Most mentionable is it's story and characters. While it may not get the story across as well as it could, as some of it's cutscenes can get kind of dull, it's pretty good. I'll probably try to buy the series sometime. Something else that may be worth mentioning is that this game only came packaged with the Boxed set of Samurai Deeper Kyo. So I guess this game was kind of a limited edition type thing. Only a couple stages left. 1.00 March 27th Finished up the walkthrough. Everythings complete. (1.2) ________________________________________________________________________________ CONTROLS A - Attack B - Jump R - Special Pause - Pauses the game (1.3) ________________________________________________________________________________ TIPS 1. Don't get surrounded by enemies and always keep moving. 2. Always cut signs and other objects for health. 3. Use your special when you need to as it can really help, especially on bosses. 4. Though you won't use it alot, jumping can actually be kind of helpful sometimes. 5. Don't try to attack a boss during a special, and when they block, get away as soon as you can because it will usually follow with a counter attack. (1.4) ________________________________________________________________________________ CHARACTERS I know little of the story or characters besides what I've picked up playing the game, because as I mentioned earlier, I've never seen the series. However I'll try to give a good enough explanation as possible. When I'm able to give better descriptions I'll probably update this walkthrough. Demon Eyes Kyo He's a little cold and harsh. Near the end of the game if your playing as him he begins to light up. He's the one who shares the body with Kyoshiro. Not sure exactly how this happened, I'm sure I would if I'd seen the show but sadly I havn't. He uses a sword as a weapon. Benitora This is the more fun easy going one of the group. He seems to be kind of carefree. Not to sure about his background but his personality is what stands out. He also seems to be kind of annoying. He uses a spear as a weapon. Shiina Yuya A bounty hunter. From what I understand from the game she's after a man with a scar on his back who is responsible for murdering her brother. She runs into Kyoshiro at the beginning of the game and recognizes him because of the bounty on his head. Then he turns into Demon Eyes Kyo and the story goes from there. Yuya uses a gun. Sanada Yukimura Not sure on this one either but he seems to be friends with Demon Eyes Kyo. He also seems to be pretty easy going but not one bit like Benitora. If you ask me he's one of the most likable characters but that's my opinion. Demon Eyes Kyo is cool too, and is really a great character, but Yukimura has that likeness to him. Yukimura also uses a sword. Mibu Kyoshiro Kyoshiro, the one who has Demon Eyes Kyo resting within him, apparently has been battling for control over his battle with Demon Eyes Kyo. I guess Demon Eyes Kyo finally takes over around level 2 or 3 but Kyoshiro still rests within. Kyoshiro doesn't seem like that bad of a guy. From what I understand he beat Demon Eyes Kyo in battle before they were somehow merged as one. He uses the same weapons as Demon Eyes Kyo. (1.5) ________________________________________________________________________________ ENEMIES Kenyo The first enemy in the game. They come in three fasionable colors. Green, purple, and blue. The purple has the most health, and the purple and blue also have the ability to use some sort of purple gas. Green however I don't believe can use this attack. Sometimes they will throw bombs at you which will explode over a short time, so watch out. Ninyo The second enemy you'll see in the game. They also come in three colors, green, purple, and red. The green and purple are pretty much the same, except the green has the ability to explode, however they rarely do it. The red take about one hit to kill but they will explode if they touch you. Watch out as they can do some damage. Jukaibito The third enemy that appears will show up a few levels before the end of the game. They come in two colors. Black and purple. They have two attacks, one where they just attack you with their hand when they are close, and another where they shoot a large orb at you. (2.) ________________________________________________________________________________ WALKTHROUGH Stage 1 As soon as you start you should be surrounded by Kenyo. Quickly hack through them and move foward. There should be a purple one amongst the next ones. They are just a tad stronger. Keep heading foward hacking through the all. When you defeat enough move to the next area. More Kenyo. Watch out for the bombs they will throw. Move foward and you will be attacked by a few more Kenyo, including a blue. You should also see Jimon, the boss of this stage. %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Boss: Jimon Not to hard. Just don't let him catch you off guard. Throw a combo at him every chance you get. His special can be sort of hard to avoid with all the Kenyo running around. He will shoot a large ray of what looks like ice. You need to keep running and when he shoots it hopefully miss it. Jimon will not take to many hits to take down but don't let his special get the best of you. Soon you should have him down. %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Stage 2 Run foward killing all the Kenyo. You should have the choice to take one of two paths. They both are pretty much the same thing however so take your pick. As soon as you enter start attacking the large group of Kenyo. Keep attacking them as they will keep coming until you can continue foward. Destroy a few more Kenyo and then enter the next area. Kill a few more and you can continue foward a bit. Before you can enter the next area your going to have to kill quite a bit of Kenyo, so keep your health up and watch your back and just keep on attacking. In the next area there will be several blue Kenyo along with the boss, Kurosasori %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Boss: Kurosasori This guy isn't too hard. Just keep pounding him down with attacks, he will block every now and then but not too often. When he does his special he will continuously shoot little blue rays in every direction. Just get out of the way when he shoots them and keep circling him. You should dodge them pretty easily. Just keep getting hits in on him and before long he'll be done for. %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Stage 3 This is a pretty short stage. From the beginning just keep on killing Kenyo until you can continue foward. Cut the coloumns you see down for some items. Kill some more and you can proceed right into the next area. Be careful of the wide area your in as if you don't watch your back you can be attacked from behind. After you kill not to many Kenyo where you just entered the area, walk foward and you will see the boss, Shirogaraso %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Boss: Shirogaraso He can be kind of annoying because he blocks many of your attacks you throw at him. Whenever you get the chance to attack him do so, but only a couple hits may get him. Whenever he lands from his flying attack is a good chance also. His special is basically the same as his normal attack however he will keep flying around over and over trying to hit you. Just keep moving and try to get out of his way as well as you can. While it may take quite a bit of hits because of his blocking, you should have him beaten after a short while. %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Stage 4 At the beginning of this stage you will be introduced to a new enemy, the Ninyo. Don't worry about them they will probably give you no more trouble then the Kenyo do, if not less. At the start just keep killing the Kenyo and Ninyo until you can continue. You can go up, or kill a bit more and continue right, on the path your on. Whichever one you take your going to be in a large space where you can run back and forth. Your going to have to kill alot of Ninyo here. Just keep on killing them until you can continue them move on. Now just keep killing Ninyo until you can move foward, and from there continue on. A few Kenyo will also come in this part. Once you kill enough you can move to the next area, which will end this level. No boss this time. (Technically stage 4 and 5 are one, but they happen in diffent areas. Just thought I'd mention that. So remember you cannot switch weapons in between them or save.) Stage 5 Kill as many Kenyo and Ninyo as you need to at the beginning until you can continue. Cut the sign for an item. Continue killing the large amounts of Ninyo that come and the few Kenyo that will come with them until you can continue on a little bit. Watch out for the red Ninyo as they will explode. After killing another good bit of Ninyo and Kenyo move on up a little bit and you will see the boss, Genza. %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Boss: Genza As he is quickly zooming around and attacking you score as many hits on him as you can. Watch out as he can take your health down pretty quickly, and don't let yourself get cornered. When he does his special he will quickly fly around and release some kind of green webs, which if you step on you will get stuck and that will give him a golden oppurtunity to pound away at you so watch out. Don't do anything dumb and keep taking his health down and you should have him beat soon enough. %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Stage 6 At the start Ninyo and Kenyo will continuously jump in towards you. However they will usually be grouped together so if your using a melee weapon you should be able to take out many at once. Kill enough to continue foward. Now you'll be in more open area. Keep taking them all on and don't get surrounded. Move foward and now your going to be bombarded with red Ninyo. Try to kill them as fast as you can before they explode. After that and you move foward, your going to be fighting mostly Kenyo and a few Ninyo. Kenyo will repeatedly come in through the left and right so keep on killing them until you can enter the cave above you. (Watch a cutscene and you'll get to the next stage which is really part of the one you just did. I'm just listing these separate because they happen in different areas.) Stage 7 Kill all of the oncoming Ninyo, which will mostly be green. You will gradually be able to continue as you kill more and more. Soon you will have a choice between two paths. They both take you the same place and have the same things so pick either one. Now your going to have to deal with some Kenyo so just keep on. When you kill enough continue on the path and soon you should be able to go to the next area. Same thing applies here. Your going to have to fight the some enemies. continue upwards and cutting your way through all the Kenyo and Ninyo. Cut the torches for items. When you get far enough you can proceed to the next area. You will be greeted by more Ninyo. This area is very similar to where you just were, so just keep on moving foward and taking care of all the Ninyo and Kenyo. Proceed to the next area. Wath a small cutscene and then run foward to face the boss, Santera. %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Boss: Santera This boss is pretty easy. It also looks like some kind of stingray. Anways just keep attacking it. It's health goes down pretty quickly. Really the only attack it will keep doing is shooting little purple things at you, which each take your health down by a very small amount. Nothing to worry about if you don't let them add up and do some real damage to you. His special is basically the same thing. He shoots some slowly foward and then quickly shoots them towards you. Don't worry, this boss is nothing special and you'll have it beaten pretty quickly. %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Stage 8 This stage is pretty straightfoward. Just keep moving foward as you kill the Kenyo and Ninyo. Remember to get your items. When you can proceed into the next area. Watch out for bombs being thrown about. Run foward. A bunch of Ninyo start coming. Keep on doing what you've been doing this whole game. Head into the next area. Now kill Kenyo and Ninyo until you can proceed, then you should have a choice of heading up, left of right. Head up. Continue killing off everything until you can enter the next area. You'll be greeted by more Ninyo. Just keep slashing your way through them(anyone else getting tired of facing the same enemies?). Keep heading foward until you can enter the next area, now do it all again. Soon when you enter the next area you will watch a small cutscene. Now run foward and you will see the boss, Kubira. %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Boss: Kubira This boss can be fairly hard. Whenever she uses her special quickly move away or her claw will get you. Just keep attacking her, but again watch out for her claw. She will often summon small wooden dolls to help fight. These however can be easily avoided or destroyed with one hit. Your special move could help alot on this boss. Eventually when you've done enough damage on her she will fall. %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Stage 9 This level your going to be Benitora. No matter what. From the start run right slashing through all the Kenyo and Ninyo. Take advantage of the fact that his spear can reach long distances. Proceed to the next area. Watch out for the red Ninyo. Proceed into either of the next areas, they are the same pretty much. Now just keep on slashing. Benitora in my opinion is not a very good character, so if hes ganged up here that can be kind of bad considering his health goes down pretty quick. Use your special if you need to. Same thing applies for the next area. Watch your back and keep on slashing. You can really get piled up with enemies here. Proceed into the next area and start heading up. Take advantage of the signs throughout here you can get health in them. In the next just keep heading on the path hacking your way through the Kenyo and Ninyo until you can go into the next area. Watch the small cutscene. Now run foward to face the boss, Mekira %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Boss: Mekira Try to score as many hits on him at once as you can, but don't get caught in his claws as he can continue to deal some major damage to you. Also watch out for his special. He will throw a large scythe around, and it will continue spinning around him until it comes back to him. Also use your special if you need to, it can really help. While he is fairly difficult, before long you will have him beat. %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Stage 10 At the start run foward and cut through the pack of Kenyo. Your going to have Kenyo and Ninyo coming at you from every direction of every color, so don't falter. Once you can continue foward, your going to have to continue fighting them. Proceed foward once more. Cut the sign for an item. Continue hacking through all the enemies. Once again head foward and start hacking all the purple Kenyo and blue Ninyo. Now head to the next area. Begin heading right, grab the item in the sign and start making a path through all the enemies. Continue foward and you will see the boss, Haira. %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Boss: Haira This guys annoying. Very annoying. Heres how this fight will go. He'll be flying around the area trying to hit you while your fighting multiple blue Kenyo. You need to get a hit on him while he's flying which can be kind of hard and he will fall to the ground, giving you a small chance to attack, however he will send out multiple blades swirled around him which is hard to avoid. After a while longer he'll take flight again. It might be a good idea to use a special attack while he's grounded to really do some damage, and he doesn't have a very big health meter. Just watch your health, keep repeating the process of grounding him and attacking, and he'll be beat before you know it. %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Stage 11 At the very start you will be bombarded by enemies all at once. Cut through them all until you can continue. Now your going to have alot of Kenyo to deal with. Proceed when you can only to find yourself having more Kenyo and Ninyo jumping at you from every which way. Keep on hacking them(or shooting) your way through them until you can proceed one of two ways. Here you will be introduced to a new enemy. The Jukaibito. They come in two colors, they float, and they are cloaked. Don't worry about them, they go down just like the other enemys. Head right(it's the better way(I think..)) and start hacking. Just keep heading right, while slashing and eventually you'll be able to proceed into the next area. Now your going to be doing the same thing except while going up. Watch out here because theres alot of red Ninyo. Use specials if you have to. Just keep going and eventually you will be able to enter the next area. Allright now your going to have to fight some more enemies, but now the Jukaibito are coming back for some fun. Don't worry just keep running around the rock(whys a rock there?) and slashing through them until you can continue. Try to keep moving around alot to keep from being hit. After a bit of kicking a bit of Jukaibito butt and slapping the Kenyos around a bit, you'll finally be able to proceed to the next area. Finally after cutting through all those enemies, you'll watch a small cutscene. Now cut through the blue Kenyo, proceed, take care of the purple Kenyo, proceed and then you'll see the boss, Bikara. %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Boss: Bikara This guy is easy compared to the previous bosses. First of all your going to have some Jukaibito running amok, but ignore them. Bikaro will be running all over the place, so you know your cue. Attack him! Score some hits on him, whenever he starts blocking, quickly back off to avoid his attack. Whenever he uses his special just quickly get away, while he shoots some crap at whatevers in front of him. Very easy to avoid. Very easy boss to defeat. Before long Bikara will be toast. %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Stage 12 This time your playing as Yukimura, but no big deal. Your going to be fighting alot of Jukaibito this level. from the start just keep running around the rock there taking care of any enemies that come pouring in. When you continue your going to have some more space, and also more enemies so keep at it. When you can proceed just take the north-eastern path, so you won't have to kill more enemies to proceed up the northern path. When you enter you'll see a good bit a Kenyo and Jukaibito waiting for you. You know what to do. Once you proceed foward a bit your now going to just be fighting alot of Jukaibito, but just don't let yourself become surrounded. Move to the next area and it should look like where you first started, big rock and all. Just keep slashing all through all the enemies. Proceed into the next area. Keep hacking your way foward through all the enemies. Head into the next area. Another big rock.. Well just keep slashing all the enemies around it until you can move foward. Keep hacking through the enemies and once you move foward once more you should see the boss of this stage, Basara. %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Boss: Basara I hate this boss so much. Ok heres how this fight goes. You hit her once or twice and she'll jump into the air, and shoot several crystal looking projectiles out in every direction. These can be very hard to dodge. You could try jumping to help dodge them. For her special she will shoot dozens of crystals into the air and they will come raining down, you'll have to pay attention to shadows to know where to go. On top of all that her health goes down kind of slow. Though she is a pain, eventually after enough slicing you'll defeat her. %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Stage 13 Just keep running foward slashing through all the enemies until you can continue to the next area(take the left fat instead of the one going straight to get one of the unlockable weapons. You'll find it in a sign). Another big rock.. Is it me or have we been going through this level a bit too many times? Just keep running around it hacking all the enemies. Once again just keep running foward until you get to a point where one or two Jukaibito come at you at a time, then run foward for a small cutscene. Get ready to face the final boss, Nobunaga. %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Boss: Nobunaga Well this guy is pretty hard. The hardest you've fought so far probably. All right. He has a pretty big health bar but don't worry about it. Whenever you go up to attack him he'll almost every time block the last couple attacks of your combo and swing his tentacles. That's his main attack, swinging his tentacles. Those are almost impossible to avoid, but just try to get back far enough or jump out of the way. He's also going to have red Ninyo appear in front of him often. This can be very annoying as they usually appear when your attacking him. Get back and destroy them before they have a chance to explode. Whenever he does his special you'll see Deaths, or The Grim Reaper whatever you want to call him, face appear and you'll see his skeleton hand come crashing down trying to hit you. He'll do that three times. To avoid it get between the open spot in his thumb and index finger. It can be pretty hard to avoid also but once you get the hang of it, it's a piece of cake. Also the two signs each have a chicken in them which heal you completely. Remember also that using your special here could greatly help. Though he is difficult, after enough fighting you'll defeat him. %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Now you'll watch the ending cutscene and credits. So there you have it. Pretty cool game. It doesn't cover all that the actual series does it's still good. Well I guess that's it. Go unlock everything now. (2.1) ________________________________________________________________________________ UNLOCKABLES Weapons 1st weapon Well this one shouldn't be too hard to get. Seeing as you have it when you begin the game. So no problem here. 2nd weapon You'll get this one on the third level in one of the pillars. Just keep slashing them and you'll get it. I think it's near Shirogasu the boss in that stage. 3rd weapon To get this one you need to destroy 1000 enemies in arcade mode. The 1000th enemy should drop this weapon. 4th weapon I mentioned how to get this on the last stage but anyways, to get it on the last stage near the very beginning you'll be able to take the left path or continue foward and take a right path. Take the left one instead and somewhere along that path you'll see a sign. Cut it and you should see the weapon. Characters Kyoshiro To unlock Mibu Kyoshiro you need to beat the game on story mode with all four characters. After that he'll be unlocked. He isn't all that good and I think he's the weakest character but his story mode can be somewhat humorous and is worth playing just for that reason. He shares the same weapons as Demon Eyes Kyo seeing as they are sharing the same body. Any weapons you've unlocked for Demon Eyes Kyo, Kyoshiro will have.
