DRAGON WARRIOR II STAT GAINS GUIDE (original NES version) In Dragon Warrior II, unlike in the other DW titles on NES, the stat gains are absolutely set in stone for every person on every level. In case you are curious what kind of gains you'll get before you get there, here they are! ********************PART 1: WHAT DO THESE NUMBERS MEAN?********************* Strength: This number tells you how much damage you can do with a weapon. As it increases, you cause more damage. Simple as that. Midenhall has the most; Moonbrooke has the least; Cannock's is low until very late in the game when it grows to be pretty high. Agility: This is the basis of defense power. As agility increases, defense power does as well and enemy attacks do less damage. In later Dragon Warrior games, Agility affects the order your fighters take in combat, with fast fighters tending to act first... but not in this game. It's totally random. Moonbrooke has the most and Midenhall the least. However, they are not all that far apart in agility. Max HP: Higher max HP means that you can take more enemy attacks. Midenhall has the most, Moonbrooke the least. In the middle of the game, Moonbrooke and Cannock have about the same amount, but as you gain levels Cannock pulls ahead. Max MP: Casting spells uses MP so more MP means more spells you can cast before resting. Moonbrooke has the most, Cannock fewer than Moonbrooke, and Midenhall none at all because he cannot use spells. Attack Power: Figured by adding strength to the power of your equipped weapon, this is how much damage you can do to the enemies. Defense Power: This is figured by adding half of your agility to the power of your armor, the power of your shield, and the power of your helmet. Throughout the game, Midenhall has way more defense power than the two magicians since he can equip many more things than they can. ***************************PART 2: THE STAT GAINS*************************** Stats for the Prince of Midenhall: Midenhall gains the most strength and HP. You might notice at about level 32, his stats go up rather slowly (though at that time he is gaining levels more often than the other two). Midenhall's max level is 50. This is how much you GAIN: This is how much, total, you have: Level +Str +Agi +HP Str Agi HP 1 5 4 28 2 2 1 9 7 5 37 3 5 2 3 12 7 40 4 5 0 8 17 7 48 5 1 5 4 18 12 52 6 2 6 3 20 18 55 7 9 3 1 29 21 56 8 1 3 2 30 24 58 9 3 0 0 33 24 58 10 3 4 2 36 28 60 11 5 2 2 41 30 62 12 3 3 1 44 33 63 13 5 4 1 49 37 64 14 4 0 1 53 37 65 15 2 4 3 55 41 68 16 3 6 2 58 47 70 17 3 2 5 61 49 75 18 5 0 3 66 49 78 19 3 3 4 69 52 82 20 6 4 13 75 56 95 21 6 3 6 81 59 101 22 6 6 9 87 65 110 23 4 1 9 91 66 119 24 3 4 6 94 70 125 25 5 0 9 99 70 134 26 4 3 8 103 73 142 27 4 6 11 107 79 153 28 5 3 10 112 82 163 29 4 4 7 116 86 170 30 5 2 3 121 88 173 31 6 2 5 127 90 178 32 3 1 2 130 91 180 33 1 0 8 131 91 188 34 2 2 2 133 93 190 35 1 2 2 134 95 192 36 2 1 5 136 96 197 37 2 2 3 138 98 200 38 3 2 1 141 100 201 39 1 2 4 142 102 205 40 1 3 1 143 105 206 41 2 2 4 145 107 210 42 1 2 1 146 109 211 43 3 1 4 149 110 215 44 1 2 0 150 112 215 45 0 3 5 150 115 220 46 1 5 1 151 120 221 47 1 3 1 152 123 222 48 3 7 7 155 130 229 49 1 2 6 156 132 235 50 4 8 5 160 140 240 Stats for the Prince of Cannock: Though mediocre on strength for most of the game, at level 28 his strength suddenly begins growing very quickly. He'll end up nearly as strong as Midenhall if you level him enough, and your party will seem as if it had gained a member. His max level is 45.
