Music On/Off Effects On/Off Animations On/Off Speed 1-9 PLAYING UNO ============================================================================== How to play Uno: --------------- Each player is dealt 7 cards. The remaining ones are used to form a draw pile. The first player has to match the card in the discard pile either by number, color or word. For example, if the card is a blue 2, you must place a blue card or any color with number 2. Alternatively one can use a Wild Card. If there are no cards to play in your hand, or for any reason you wish to not place any, one must pick a card from the draw pile. You may choose to play the drawn card straight away if applicable, or skip the turn. The game moves on to the next person whichever direction the game is going at the moment, shown by the arrow in the top right corner. If a player runs out of cards, the hand is over. Points are recorded and the game starts over with a new deal. The discarded card pile will form a new draw pile when the latter has run out. Calling Uno: ----------- If a player has only one card left he or she must call "Uno!" to warn the others. Failure to do so is penalized by two penalty draw cards but only if the next person in line does not play or draw a card already. You can catch them yourself via the options menu. A false Uno call or false catch call also results in a two card penalty. Cards: ----- Each color red, green, blue, and yellow has a suit 0-9. There are three kinds of honor cards> Skip: Skips the next person in line. Draw 2: The next player is required to draw 2 cards from the pile and is not allowed to place any cards. Reverse: The direction of play changes, and the previous player is next in line. With just 2 players this acts like a skip card. There are two kinds of standard wild cards> Wild: The player sets the new color. Wild Draw Four: The player sets the new color and the next player must draw four cards from the pile and forfeit their turn. However, one may only play the card if no other cards are playable in the hand. Scoring: ------- At the end of a hand, each players cards are added up to a total for the winning player. Each numeric suit card counts as their value. Draw Two, Skip, and Reverse cards are 20 points each. The Wild and Wild Draw Four cards count as 50 points as well as the special Wild cards from the different packs. The player to reach the set amount wins the game. 2-Player: -------- When there are only two players, some UNO cards work a little different. Reverse cards count as skip cards, and one can immediately play another turn. Skip cards make it your turn again as well. The Draw Two card or a Wild Draw Four nullify the opponent's turn, too. Challenge Uno: ------------- In Challenge Uno, each player receives points for the remaining cards, rather than the player that finishes with none. When the set total amount is reached, they're out of the game until only one player is left at the end. Note: Usually in Challenge Uno when only two players are left, the winner of the next hand is the winner, disregarding points. However, in this case the hands carry on until the score is reached. Some tips: --------- Try to keep the last two cards so you can finish off the game shortly after calling Uno. For example Blue 2 and Blue 5 would be a good way to finish, or Blue 2 and Red 2. Even better is having a wild or honor card used as second last. Keep a wild card for last, so you won't have to worry about what color is up next and only that another player forces you to draw cards and/or skip a turn. =============================================================================== This guide is available for and to anyone who wishes to use the information on their site or in their own guide.
