The game, Thunder Pro Wrestling Retsuden; released exclusively in Japan, featured graphics, voice clips, and a control scheme similar to the PC Engine ports of Fire Pro Wrestling while adding three new Wrestlers (Hideaki Cho - Bam Bam Bigelow, Storm Daisuke - Kensuke Sasaki & Masked Typhoon - Super Strong Machine) to Retuden's diverse roster. Thunder Pro Wrestling Retsuden's most unique feature however was the game's "Special Bar", a rechargeable health meter that depletes each time a Wrestler performs their finishing move. The Special Bar was implimented to add an extra level of strategy to matches and punish players for performing their finishing moves too early in the match. This FAQ covers: * all 12 wrestlers' finishing moves. * A walkthrough of every mode. * Secrets, tips & tricks. ======================================================== ******CONTROLS****** ======================================================== =============== While standing: =============== A - Run Down + Left + A - Run in the left direction Up + Right + A - Run in the right direction B - Light Strike C - Medium strike A - Strong strike (in close range) ================= While locking up: ================= Approach enemy - Lockup A - Medium B - Light grapple C - Strong grapple/fini B + Up/Down/Left/Right - Irish Whip ================================ While grappling behind opponent: ================================ A - Submission hold B - Grapple C - Strong grapple ============================================== While opponent attempts grappling from behind: ============================================== B - Counter ============== While running: ============== B - Running attack C - Strong running attack Back - Stop running C - Suicida attack (towards opponent outside ring) (not every wrestler has this move) ========================================= While running from opponent's Irish Whip: ========================================= Button mash - stop running ======================= While laying on ground: ======================= Button mash - escape opponent's submission hold/Pin attempt =================================== While opponent is laying on ground: =================================== A - Submission hold/Stomp B - Pick opponent up C - Pin/Cancel pin attempt ============== Ring controls: ============== Left + C - Exit ring from bottom left Right + C - Exit ring from bottom right Up + Left + C - Exit ring from upper left Up + Right + C - Exit ring from upper right Up + Right + C - Enter ring from bottom left Up + Left + C - Enter ring rom bottom right Down + Left + C - Enter ring from upper right Down + Right + C - Enter ring from upper left Down + Left + C - Tag partner left side Down + Right + C - Tag partner right side =============== From top ropes: =============== Left + C - Climb left turnbuckle Right + C - Climb right turnbuckle Up + C - Climb top turnbuckle Down + C - Climb bottom turnbuckle A - --- B - Top rope attack C - Strong top rope attack Down - Climb down from top ropes ======================================================== ******GAMEPLAY & RULES****** ======================================================== ============ Special Bar: ============ A meter located at the bottom left (Player 1 - Red Meter) and bottom right (Player 2 - Blue Meter) corners of the screen that is used to perform a Wrestler's finishing move. [ 1P [][][] ] [ 2P [][][] ] When a finishing move is attempted, the Wrestler's Special Bar is depleted and turns gray in color; preventing the Wrestler from using their finishing move until their Special Bar is replenished. To replenish a Special Bar, the Wrestler must perform grapples and other various attacks on the opponent. With every successful attack, the Wrestler regains one square in their special bar. To punish players who attempt to perform their Wrestler's finisher early in the match, a Wrestler's finisher will be reversed by the opponent along with the Wrestler's Special Bar that is also depleted in the process. Three replenished squares are needed to perform a Wrestler's finishing move. _______________________________________ ======== Pinfall: - when a Wrestler attempts to pin another Wrestler ======== laying on the ground for the duration of three seconds as counted by the Referee. A: Unfortunately, no. Star Bomber (Big Van Vader) is the final opponent of World Championship mode. Q: Why didn't Human just name this game Fire Pro Wrestling and why have the Wrestler's Fire Pro names altered? A: It is rumored that Human was under pressure from Sega to put in extra effort to conceal the identities of the Wrestlers unofficially featured in Thunder Retsuden. As for the name change? I am not sure (but speculate that Human considered Thunder Retsuden a "side game" and, as such, decided to come up with a new name for the game. ======================================================== ******CREDITS****** ======================================================== [Human] - for bringing the Fire Pro series to the Sega Megadrive.
