If you talk to the Mayor here you gain (+2 Happiness). To trigger, enter the town square before 6:00 pm. (+5 Happiness). Everything is closed today. Due to the fact that by year 1, Spring 8th you cannot have Stu or the Potion Shop Owner's affection high enough to be chosen to fly in the balloon, Stu and the Potion Shop Owner will always be the ones to fly on the first year. On the second year or later, the last king of the harvest festival will ride in the balloon. If that was not you, and the King's affection is 100 or higher (cannot happen on year 1 as it is always Stu and Potion Shop Owner) the King (always one of the five rivals) will choose to ride the balloon with you. If you were the king, you can choose from 12 NPCs to ride the balloon with you. The five rivals, and the five marryable girls, May, or Kent. Agreeing with a rival (King) to ride the balloon with them, causes a +8 affection boost to that rival, and if you decline, it does not change affection whatsoever. Similarly, if you are King, asking any of the possible 12 NPCs to join you as your assistant results in a +8 affection for that NPC. You cannot give gifts based on the fact that you cannot open your pause menu during the festival. You cannot talk to the NPCs and receive affection if you are chosen to ride in the balloon or if you are the harvest king from the year before. Talk to Lillia last and choose "No, nothing" to conclude the festival. You can vote out of the five marryable girls who will be the Goddess at the next Flower Festival (23rd of Spring). Vote Byte: 255 = Have not voted. 00 = Maria. 01 = Popuri. 02 = Elli. 03 = ann. 04 = Karen. You can only vote once within all these days. One vote per year. How the Goddes is determined: I conducted 150 tests between having not voted for a Goddess, voting for different girls, and voting for a girl while having another girl's affection maxed while the voted for girl and other girls had 0 affection points. These are the results. This can only be manipulated by saving on the night of the 21st and replaying the 22nd until the girl you want to be Goddess is chosen (or not to be Goddess for strategical purposes since you cannot dance with the Goddess, and whoever you dance with raises affection). If you talk to him (+2 Happiness) To trigger, enter the town square before 6:00 pm. (+5 Happiness). Everything is closed today. In this festival, you are free to roam from the start and talk to whomever you like. There are a few things you can purchase only during this festival, two of them only one time in the entire game (any year, but unique things). Shady Salesman: Sells one of the ten Power Nuts in the game for 1,000G. Be sure to grab this. Lillia / Basil: Talk to the pink flower seed bag to purchase as many Pink-Cat- Mint Plant Seeds as you like. You can carry 20 maximum. 500G each. Rick: Talk to the bottle on the table in front of Rick to have the option of purchasing a unique bottle (stores several different liquids) for 200G. Available NPCs: Basil (+2) Kent (+2) Lillia (+2) Pastor Brown (+2) Potion Shop Owner (+2) Mayor's Wife (+2) Rick (+2) Stu (+2) Mayor (+2) Jeff (+2)* Harris (+2)* Gray (+2)** Cliff (+2)** Kai (+2)** *These two rivals won't show up unless their individual affection is 30 or higher each. **These three rivals won't show up unless their individual affection is 50 or higher each. To conclude phase 1: You must wait 34 seconds (real life). This timer freezes while you are talking to NPCs or making purchases. Phase 2, there are five more available NPCs: Popuri (+2) Karen (+2) Ann (+2) Maria (+2) Elli (+2) +10 for whom you "Ask" to dance. The best way to maximize affection gain here, is to talk to the Goddess, which is one of these five girls (the one all dressed up with flowers all over her gown and such, only an idiot couldn't tell which one is the Goddess. The Goddess also stands right beside the Mayor). So, talk to the Goddess once. Talk to each of the other four girls once and reply "Don't ask" so you can go to the next girl and say the exact same thing to them. Talking causes the +2 affection, choosing "Don't ask" does not drop ANY affection, do not worry. To conclude phase 2, you must choose "Ask" with one of those four girls. The girl you ask to dance will gain a +10 affection boost (+12 total). 0101010101010101010101010101010101010100010101010101010101010101010101010101010 0 Fireworks Festival 0 0101010101010101010101010101010101010100010101010101010101010101010101010101010 [Firew] Date: Summer 1st Warning: During the day you can receive up to five warnings about the fireworks display happening that night. From 8:00 am - 8:59 pm if Maria's affection is 50 or higher, she will be the first warning (+2 Happiness). From 10:00 am - 10:59 am if Popuri's affection is 50 or higher, she will be the second warning (+2 Happiness). From 12:00 pm - 12:59 pm if Elli's affection is 50 or higher, she will be the third warning (+2 Happiness). From 2:00 pm - 2:59 pm if Ann's affection is 50 or higher, she will be the fourth warning (+2 Happiness). From 4:00 pm - 4:59 pm if Karen's affection is 50 or higher, she will be the fifth warning (+2 Happiness). To gain the Happiness from the warnings, like every other warning you actually have to talk to the NPC. Do so before the hour changes or they will walk off the screen and you receive no Happiness. This totals a potential +10 Happiness if you have the girls all at 50 affection of higher and hang outside your house on the farm for the day. Honestly, Happiness is easy to come by and max out, so I would carry on with your daily chores as priority over viewing the warnings. There are five scenes you have the option to trigger, which will all conclude automatically after the scenes and end the day and festival alike. All of the scenes require 0 affection for any NPC. You can only trigger one of the five scenes as obviously, the day and festival will conclude after said scene. These are the five possible scenes: Watch the fireworks with Elli and Ellen: Enter the bakery from 7:00 pm - 8:59 pm. This is the most strict time requirement for today's festival scenes. The scene grants +5 affection for Elli. Watch the fireworks with Maria and a few other villagers: Enter the town square from 6:00 pm - 11:59 pm. Talk to Maria. The scene grants +5 affection for Maria. Watch the fireworks with Popuri: Enter the mountain summit screen from 6:00 pm - 11:59 pm (Must climb tree if the bridge is not built). The scene grants +5 affection for Popuri. Watch the fireworks with Ann: Enter the green ranch screen from 6:00 pm - 11:59 pm and enter the fence opening to the farm grass fields. The scene grants +5 affection for Ann. Watch the fireworks with Karen: Enter the beach screen from 6:00 pm - 11:59 pm. The scene grants +5 affection for Karen. Special bonus scenes: This applies to all five scenes, and not only are the bonus scenes identical but the requirements are exactly the same to one another. If you trigger the initial scene with 55 or higher affection for the girl you chose to watch the fireworks with, you will witness a bonus scene. You still only get the normal +5 affection for the girl, but you also get a bonus (+5 Happiness) for witnessing the bonus scene with any of the five girls. You and the girl simply light fireworks together and you get to see some blushing on the girl. Everything is open today, during normal hours. This isn't so much a festival with a specific series of phases or anything to be won, in terms of unique prizes or scenes. You can talk to the NPCs in the town square except Maria, without triggering any day-ending scenes, but the +5 affection for whatever girl you watch the fireworks with is pretty worthwhile considering you don't have to trigger it until 11 pm + (except Elli). (Town square) The Shipper's stall: 120G for candy. 200G for fry. 250G for corn. Available NPCs (Not including the five girls you can trigger the day-ending scenes with): The Shipper (+0) Rick (+0) The three girls (+0) May (+0) Stu (+0) Kent (+0) Potion Shop Owner (+0) To conclude: The day only forced conclusion as well as the festival, if you choose to participate in watching the fireworks with one of the five girls whom are at specific locations. The scene will conclude automatically. An ideal strategy since you can only gain affection / possible happiness from the five girls (only one of them per fireworks festival) would be to carry on with your day normally, since everything is open during normal hours, finish all of your required chores and make it to the scene trigger by midnight. For Elli, it's a bit more strict, you have to enter the bakery between 7:00 pm - 8:59 pm otherwise the door is closed and locked, thus preventing you from seeing the fireworks with her. 0101010101010101010101010101010101010100010101010101010101010101010101010101010 0 Vegetable Festival 0 0101010101010101010101010101010101010100010101010101010101010101010101010101010 [Veget] Date: Summer 9th Warning: Summer 8th from 6:00 am - 8:59 am, Basil will be waiting on the farm screen. If you talk to him (+2 Happiness). To trigger, enter the north village screen anytime before 6:00 pm. This triggers phase 1. Phase 2 and after can only be triggered before 6:00 pm, who is one of the four NPCs blocking the stairs leading to the town square screen. Talk to the Mayor with no vegetable and reply, "Correct." to trigger phase 2. Talk to the Mayor with a vegetable in your hand to trigger phase 2. Everything is closed today. When you enter the north village screen there will be four NPCs blocking the 4 tiles necessary to reach the town square screen. These four NPCs can be exploited for affection until 6:00 pm. You have two options to trigger phase 2. The first, is to have a vegetable and talk to the Mayor while it is in your hand to enter that vegetable into the contest. The second, is to talk to the Mayor and reply with, "Correct." when he asks if you didn't bring a vegetable to participate in the festival, but not have the chance of winning the festival's contest. The moment you trigger phase 2, the Vegetable Submitted Byte is triggered and permanent until next year when you have the option to trigger phase 2 of this festival again. When the festival concludes, which is when the scene where the winner is decided / shown, this Vegetable Submitted Byte is scanned to determine which vegetable you submitted... obviously. And whichever vegetable you picked, will scan the total number of that vegetable you put into the shipping box. Example, if you enter an eggplant, the game will scan the byte of how many eggplants you've shipped total, and if the number meets the winning requirement, you win the festival. Vegetable Submitted Byte: 00 = No vegetable submitted. 01 = Turnip submitted. 02 = Potato submitted. 03 = Cabbage submitted. 04 = Tomato submitted. 05 = Corn submitted. 06 = Eggplant submitted. 07 = Strawberry submitted. Just to clarify, you cannot submit eggs, any milk, or any wool. Winning requirements: 100 (or more) turnips shipped, or 100 (or more) potatoes shipped, or 100 (or more) cabbages shipped, or 100 (or more) tomatoes shipped, or 100 (or more) corn shipped, or 100 (or more) eggplants shipped, or 100 (or more) strawberries shipped. Obviously, the vegetable you submitted determines which total number of the submitted vegetable byte is scanned. Available NPCs in phase 1 (North Village screen): May (+2)* The Shipper (+2)* Mayor (+2)* Mayor's Wife (+2)* *Exploit: Before triggering phase two, if you store the vegetable you may want to enter into the contest for this festival in your bag, you can gain unlimited affection boosts with these 4 available NPCs by gaining the affection from simply talking to them, leaving the screen, and coming back onto the screen to repeat the process! They remain in their positions until you enter the screen at 6:00 pm or later, which will end both the exploit and the ability to participate in the festival itself. For the Mayor, since he's the key to trigger phase 2, talk to him with no vegetable in your hand and he asks if you didn't bring a vegetable. Reply with, "No, I did." and you are free to walk / leave the screen again. This is quite a handy little exploit for hard to come by characters like The Shipper who only appears at the bar for regular affection boosting. Available NPCs in phase 2 (Town Square): Popuri (+2) Elli (+2) Maria (+2) Karen (+2) Ann (+2) Stu (+2) Kent (+2) Potion Shop Owner (+2) Rick (+2) The Gourmet Judge (+2) Rewards for winning: To clarify, you MUST win this festival in order to achieve any of these bonus rewards. (+5 Happiness) and an affection boost on all of the following villagers. The Shipper (+5) Popuri (+5) Basil (+5)* Mayor (+3) Mayor's Wife (+3) Elli (+3) Maria (+3) Karen (+3) Ann (+3) Stu (+3) Kent (+3) May (+3) Potion Shop Owner (+3) Rick (+3) The Gourmet Judge (+3) *Basil is not actually at the festival, so you cannot gain the normal +2, but strangely enough, winning the festival grants a +5 to Basil. This means you can potentially earn a total of this much affection for the following individual villagers: The Shipper (+7)** Popuri (+7) Basil (+5)* Mayor (+5)** Mayor's Wife (+5)** Elli (+5) Maria (+5) Karen (+5) Ann (+5) Stu (+5) Kent (+5) May (+5)** Potion Shop Owner (+5) Rick (+5) The Gourmet Judge (+5) *Basil is not actually at the festival, so you cannot gain the normal +2, but strangely enough, winning the festival grants a +5 to Basil. **These four NPCs can be exploited in phase one for quite a lot more affection points. To conclude phase 2, you must wait for 34 real life seconds. This automatically concludes the festival and the day. This timer is frozen while you are talking to NPCs. An ideal strategy would be to start your day, take care of any harvesting, planting, watering, or mountain visits before attending the festival. When you enter the north village screen, with however much time you have left, exploit the 4 NPCs for extra affection until 5:59 pm or as close to it as possible without risking missing the festival. Personally, since it takes longer to walk to the Mayor and his Wife from the closest possible screen to exit / re-enter from, I'd only exploit The Shipper (And May because she's only one square from him). If you're uncomfortable with the exploit, talk to each of the four only once. Then submit your vegetable. Talk to everyone once. Win the contest for a hefty affection boost on several villagers, including the gourmet and Basil who did not even show up at the festival. Bonus scene: The following evening (Summer 10th), if Basil's affection is 60 or higher, the time is between 5:00 pm - 8:59 pm, you won the vegetable festival, and you are on your farm screen; Basil will show up and ask to invite you to a party. Talking to him alone grants (+2 Happiness). Saying "Yes" grants +5 affection for Basil. Saying "No I'm busy" grants -5 affection for Basil. Saying yes forces the day to end, and there is actually no celebration scene. The mechanics behind this bonus scene... winning the festival triggers a special event byte. Seeing Basil on the farm screen reverses this byte, thus this event can happen more than once. 0101010101010101010101010101010101010100010101010101010101010101010101010101010 0 Firefly Festival 0 0101010101010101010101010101010101010100010101010101010101010101010101010101010 [Firef] Date: Summer 17th Warning: On the 17th, first thing in the morning on the farm screen, The Mayor will be waiting to inform you of the Firefly Festival happening later that night. If you talk to him (+2 Happiness). To trigger, enter the beach screen from 6:00 pm - 11:59 pm. Everything is open today, during normal hours. When you trigger the scene, there will be various NPCs to talk to for a decent affection boost on them. After some time, the final scene takes place and ends the day. Available NPCs: Ann (+2) Popuri (+2) Elli (+2) Maria (+2) Kent (+2) Mayor's Wife (+2) Potion Shop Owner (+2) Rick (+2) Stu (+2) Mayor (+2) The Shipper (+2) Karen (+2)* Kai (+2)** Jeff (+2)** Cliff (+2)** Harris (+2)** Gray (+2)** *Karen will only show up for the festival if her affection is 26 or higher. **These five rivals will only show up for the festival if their affection affection is 100 or higher. Example, Kai, Jeff, and Cliff have 99 affection, Harris and Gray have 100 affection. Only Gray and Harris will show up out of these five NPCs. To conclude, you must wait for 34 real life seconds. This automatically concludes the festival, and the day if you don't walk one of the girls home. This timer is frozen while you are talking to NPCs. There really is no strategy to this event whatsoever. Do everything you want to normally during the day before attending. Attend the festival, talk to all of the NPCs for a bonus, and agree to walk a girl home if she ask for a happiness boost. Bonus scene: One of the five marryable girls has the potential to ask you to walk them home after the mandatory firefly scenes have passed. Strangely, though. It's not what affection they have for you when you enter the screen or after the scenes that matter. Basically, any affection you gain during today (Summer 17th) is no accounted for. This means if talking to them during the day, giving them gifts during the day, or talking to them during the festival, and that happens to bring the girl into the range of affection where they will ask you to walk them home, the scene will still not trigger. The affection is scanned and the girl who walks you home is determined when you sleep on the night of the 16th. Anyways, those mechanics aside, the girls have to be at 140 or higher affection each, and the girl with the highest affection (provided they are at 140 or higher) will be the one to ask you to walk them home. In the event of a tie in affection, the order of priority from highest to lowest is: Karen, Ann, Elli, Popuri, then Maria. Agreeing to walk a girl home results in (+5 Happiness), declining results in nothing, no happiness. There is really no strategy that would differ from any other festival day. Take care of your chores, especially milking any cows and shipping the milk as priority, before entering the cow festival. Talk to all of the NPCs at the festival for a decent boost. Win to gain some very nice rewards, as well as the main requirement to obtain the photo for winning the Cow Festival. Bonus scene: If you won the Cow Festival, it is the night of Fall 5th (the next night), you are on your farm screen, Doug's affection is 60 or higher, and the time is from 5:00 pm - 8:59 pm; Doug will be waiting for you to invite you to a party for the night. Agreeing will end the day immediately. There is no actual party scene. Agreeing to go with him changes Doug's affection by +5, and if you decline his invitation he decreases 5 affection points. How the winner is selected: Since there is no known way to vote for the King (quite possibly because you are able to be the King), the game has a very precise set chance of selecting the King when you sleep on Fall 11th. You cannot exploit this by reloading your save, you'll have to save on the night of the 10th and replay the entire day of the 11th over and over in order to randomize the odds again and manipulate the outcome of the chosen King for the year. The Harvest King Byte values are as follows: 00 = Jack. 01 = Harris. 02 = Gray. 03 = Jeff. 04 = cliff. 05 = Kai. I conducted 103 tests (I was going for 100, but went over a few) and here are the results: 00 - Jack - 8 01 - Harris- 18 02 - Gray - 13 03 - Jeff - 20 04 - Cliff - 10 05 - Kai - 34 This matches the script 'somewhat' well, but not very. Kai has a 30% chance of being King. Jeff and Harris have a 20% chance each of being King. Jack (you, the player), Gray, and Cliff all have a 10% chance each of being King. I adjusted happiness and affection for many villagers and it does not significantly change the results whatsoever. The script remains in place without any strings attached or scanning it from another memory location of the game. If you become King - You select assistants to conduct a musical at the Spirit Festival in the Winter. You get (+5 Happiness). You fly in the balloon next year at the Planting Festival. You dance with next year's voted Goddess at the next Flower Festival. And most importantly... you earn one of the photos in the game. If someone else becomes King - No happiness change. You get none of the above bonuses. You do get the normal affection for initiating said trigger, mind you. To conclude phase 1, you must wait 34 real life seconds for Elli to come out of the door at the back of the town square. This does not force you to end phase 1, but you now have the option to end phase 1 by talking to Elli. Phase 2 begins after the King is announced and now you get to choose one of the five marryable girls to dance with, which will conclude the festival and the day alike. The only strategy you have control over manipulating is a bit tedious, but possible. On the 10th, when you save... the 11th begins (obviously), do not save on the 11th, just play the 11th like your normally would and "Don't write" in the diary, just sleep that night. If on the next day you are selected as the Harvest King, you can save that night, if not, reload your save from the morning of the 11th and replay the two days over and over until you are selected as the King. Nothing incredibly different about this festival day. Everything is closed, so tend to your farm chores and hit up the festival before 6:00 pm. Talk to everyone here once, as nothing is exploitable in terms of affection. Dance with the girl you wish to raise the extra +10 affection with, for whatever reason you please. The Mayor is waiting for you to tell you about the Egg Festival tomorrow. If you talk to him (+2 Happiness). To trigger, enter the north village screen anytime before 6:00 pm. Everything is closed today. The Mayor greets everyone and explains about the egg hunt contest. When it commences, he shows you a certain color of an egg in his hands. You must find this exact colored egg and bring it back to the Mayor by talking to him with the correct egg in your hands. If you find the wrong egg, just drop it by pressing A anytime (funny, it has no dropping animation, it just completely disappears) and continue searching the other boxes until you find the right one. There are 8 boxes to choose from, always in the exact same locations every year. Every time the Mayor shows a new egg (or the first one) the game randomly generates which color of egg is where, and 2 of the 8 boxes are ALWAYS empty, no exceptions. The egg colors are; yellow, pink, white, light blue, orange, and purple. The Mayor shows a total of five eggs, they could be the same color as a previous egg, since the color is randomly generated each time he draws one. Every time you bring him a correct egg, you score 1 point. This obviously means you can win up to 5 points per year. Each round is 34 real life seconds long. Timer is frozen while talking to NPCs. The eight boxes in rough description's locations are as follows: 1) Beside the left staircase the leads to the town square. 2) Southwest to the door that leads to Saibara's shop. 3) To the right of Saibara's shop. 4) South of the bakery. 5) Northwest of the entrance to the church. 6) Next to the bar, near the back, go between the bar and the church. 7) Southeast of the entrance to the church. 8) Go between the flower shop and the church and cut behind the flower shop. Pass the greenhouse and it is tucked in the corner behind the greenhouse. #8 is the hardest one to reach and consumes the most time. Based on odds and randomization and the fact that you can search box #1 - #7 and make it back in time for the Mayor every 'round', it is most effective to check box #1 - #7 every round and this nets you a high chance at maximizing your points. Requirements to win: You must earn 3 points, 4 points, or 5 points to win the Egg Festival contest. Any lower and the Mayor spews out a random rival's name. (Literally completely random). By rival, I mean one of the five main rivals, not an egg hunt opponent. Funnily enough, even if Gray is not at the festival, he can say Gray won the competition. Rewards for winning: The first time you win - One of the ten Power Nuts in the game. (+5 Happiness) The second time you win - The Turtle Figurine. (+5 Happiness) The third time you win and any time after - 150 pieces of lumber. (+5 Happiness) Note: This was tested and verified extensively and 100% accurate, if someone else wins before you win one of the first two prizes, they always win a month's supply of lumber, which actually affects nothing in the game because no one else has a lumber count. One increase per year. Even if the screen blacks out because you didn't bring a correct egg to the Mayor in time. I tried everything, trust me. *If Gray's affection is 0 - 100, Doug will show up at the festival. If Gray's affection is 101 or higher, Doug will not show up at the festival and Gray will show up instead. **Speak to him last, since he asks a question where either answer will trigger the egg contest, thus scattering everyone else. You can gain the affection boost on him during the egg games, but why have to hunt NPCs for affection when you're trying to hunt a correctly colored egg? That's what I thought. To conclude, let the five rounds pass, there is no way to skip them once the festival has been triggered. After the five rounds, the winner is decided and both the festival and the day comes to an end. Save the night before and retry if you don't get the results you want. If you are going for a perfect game by evaluation, you'll need to win on year 1 and year 2 to gain both unique prizes. Like any other festival day, take care of your chores first, be sure not to accidentally enter the north village screen as this will trigger the Egg Festival. The best strategy I can think of, is to trigger the festival, talk to all of the NPCs while they are gathered and standing still near the Mayor. Then talk to the Mayor and initiate the contest. I'd search box #1 - #7 first in sort of a U-pattern starting with the one next to the staircase that leads to the town square, and work your way back to the Mayor when you find the correct egg, skipping the hard to get to box behind the flower shop greenhouse. 99% of the time you will win the festival by utilizing this strategy. 0101010101010101010101010101010101010100010101010101010101010101010101010101010 0 Thanksgiving Day 0 0101010101010101010101010101010101010100010101010101010101010101010101010101010 [Thank] Date: Winter 10th Warning: There is no 'usual' event to warn you about this, just regular villager NPC conversations and calendar / TV notifications. There is no trigger. Just a few non-unique events that can happen only on this day every year, if you meet the requirements. Everything is open today, during normal hours. In order to receive a cake from one or more of the girls, their affection has to be at 140 or higher, each...This is the golden rule. None of the scenes below will happen unless the specified girl has 140 or higher affection. Do we have that clear, yet? The next rule is, each girl has two Thanksgiving Day scenes you can choose from, some with better benefits than others. You can only view one of the two scenes for each girl per Thanksgiving Day. Scene 1 - Your Farm Screen: From 8:00 am - 8:59 am, Maria will show up. Talk to her to receive (+8 Happiness) (0 Affection). From 10:00 am - 10:59 am, Popuri will show up. Talk to her to receive (+8 Happiness) (0 Affection). From 12:00 pm - 12:59 pm, Elli will show up. Talk to her to receive (+8 Happiness) (0 Affection). From 2:00 pm - 2:59 pm, Ann will show up. Talk to her to receive (+8 Happiness) (0 Affection). From 4:00 pm - 4:59 pm, Karen will show up. She asks if you want to try some cake. If you say "No" You get (0 Happiness) and a very nasty (-8 Affection). If you say "Yes" you gain (+8 Happiness) and an EXTRA (+3 Affection for Karen). With this knowledge, if you find Karen again, you can still gain the normal conversation affection as well as the affection from giving her a gift. Scene 2 - Specific Locations: Note: Some of these girls need to be talked to multiple times to receive the cake scene (and statistical benefits). Popuri: North village screen, outside of the flower shop. (+3 Happiness) (0 Affection) Maria: Inside her house (Mayor's house). (+3 Happiness) (0 Affection) Elli: Inside the bakery. (+3 Happiness) (0 Affection) Ann: Outside of the first house when entering the green ranch screen. (+3 Happiness) (0 Affection) Karen: On the beach screen. Considering there isn't any party or festival to attend (A good thing in ways, as the day won't forcefully come to an end). You really have very few things to consider. Are you going for an optimal G run? In that case, by this point in time you should still be focusing on maxing income as early as possible, so hit the mines bright and early after tending to your greenhouse and bringing some snacks. Do you want best Happiness results? Wait around your farm for the day for a potential 40 Happiness increase between the five girls, and +3 affection for Karen as well. Talk to her for (+2 Happiness). 10:00 am - 10:59 am - Popuri shows up. Talk to her for (+2 Happiness). 12:00 pm - 12:59 pm - Elli shows up. Talk to her for (+2 Happiness). 2:00 pm - 2:59 pm - Ann shows up. Talk to her for (+2 Happiness). 4:00 pm - 4:59 pm - Karen shows up. Talk to her for (+2 Happiness). To trigger the event with Ann, Maria, and Elli, enter the church from 7:00 pm - 11:59 pm. To trigger the event with Popuri, enter the mountain summit screen from 6:00 pm - 11:59 pm. To trigger the event with Karen, enter the beach screen from 6:00 pm - 11:59 pm. Everything is open today, during normal hours. There are three events, from which you can choose one of to participate in for the Star Night Festival. Each with different beneficial statistic increases. Option 1 (Church performance): You can only talk to every NPC here once for the +2 boost, regardless of what stage or phase the scene is in. When the performance is over. You can talk to Stu, Kent, Mayor's Wife, and the Mayor and they will walk home on their own (no statistical changes). You can talk to Pastor Brown, but as we know, the church IS his home and he remains put. You can invite one of the three marryable girls here out to watch the stars with you. The moment the question is displayed, you must have 101 or higher affection with the specified girl for them to accept, otherwise they just walk home on their own, declining your invitation. You can be declined by two girls and still able to roam freely to ask the last remaining girl for a chance. If they accepted your invitation you gain NO AFFECTION, but you do gain (+5 Happiness). Available NPCs (Ann, Elli, and Maria event): Stu (+2)* Ann (+2) Maria (+2) Elli (+2) Kent (+2) Mayor's Wife (+2) Mayor (+2) Pastor Brown (+2)** *You must talk to Stu the moment you enter the church and not move onto any squares you don't have to. Trying to talk to him after talking to others is impossible, because the square you need to stand on to approach him triggers the dialogue that prevents you from leaving the church and pushes your character forward one square in the direction of the pastor. Simply talk to him first. **Talk to this NPC last, or if you don't feel like it, talk to him anytime and answer "Wait" to his question. When ready to trigger phase 2 of this event, talk to this NPC and choose "OK". Unexploitable. Option 2 (Mountain Summit): Triggering this scene grants (+5 Happiness) and +2 affection for Popuri immediately. Soon after, an option will come up. If you choose "Go home." nothing happens. If you choose "cuddle." and she has 99 or less affection, nothing happens. If you choose "cuddle." and you have enough affection (100 or higher), she will get close to you and you will both blush. For another (+5 Happiness) (That's 10 happiness total for this scene, being possible). No affection changes for either answer. Bonus Scene: This is quite hilarious. The Harvest Sprites will pervertedly observe you and Popuri cuddling on the mountain summit, if you choose to "cuddle." and meet the requirements for this bonus scene to occur. The requirements are: Popuri must be 100 or higher affection. The three Harvest Sprites must be 100 affection or higher. Must choose "cuddle." during this Star Night Festival option. Option 3 (Beach): Triggering this scene grants +2 affection for Karen immediately. Soon after, and option will come up. If you choose "Go home." nothing happens. If you choose "Draw closer." and her affection is 100 or less, nothing happens. If you choose "Draw closer." and her affection is 101 or higher, you will see a romantic scene of the two holding hands and Karen blushing (+5 Happiness). To conclude option 1, either be declined by the three girls and have the other 4 NPCs (All but Pastor Brown) walk home. Or have a girl accept your invitation for an extra scene, and then the day concludes. To conclude option 2 and 3, simply trigger the options to begin with and they will automatically conclude as the scene ends. Since this is in the evening, you can get your mining and greenhouse done, without interference. There are really only three strategies. If you want to increase the most amount of affection for both villagers and multiple marryable girls, go to the church. If you want the mere +2 affection for Popuri and +10 happiness, go to Popuri. If you want the mere +2 affection for Karen and +5 happiness, go to Karen. Keep in mind, the happiness is only gained if you meet the affection requirements when the option for each girl comes up. As a final note, I personally find Popuri's and Karen's scene much better in terms of viewing pleasure. The Mayor will be waiting to inform you of the Spirit Festival taking place later that night. If you talk to him (+2 Happiness). Note that he says it isn't until 7:00, but you can enter it anytime after 6:00 pm and trigger the festival. Also note, regardless of whether you are king or not, or have the ocarina or not, this warning will always happen, only with a different message if you are King or not. If you are King, just a funny note; the Mayor says the festival is tomorrow, when it is actually later that night! If you are King, you get the normal happiness increase from the bonus, be he has different dialogue as well as the option the be the spirit at the Spirit Festival later that night. Agreeing grants a +3 affection for the Mayor and declining results in a decrease of affection (-5). There is no affection requirement to be asked to be the spirit. Extra possible warnings (When you are asked to play music or choose assistants when you are king): First of all, if you have the ocarina, you will play the ocarina at the festival. If you do not have the ocarina (or even if you do not have the cow bell yet for some crazy reason) you will always play the cow bell at the festival. This has absolutely no impact on the statistical benefits whatsoever! Frankly, besides novelty, purchasing the ocarina is completely useless besides seeing it at this festival. For a perfect game, that is another story, for an optimal G run, buying it is not going to happen until you've maxed your G. With that information aside, the extra warnings you could encounter will always happen immediately after the Mayor leaves with his initial warning that morning. On the first year, since the Potion Shop Owner is always the King, he will ask you to be an assistant, but ONLY if the Potion Shop Owner's affection is 50 or higher. In the future years, if you are not the King, that means one of the five rivals is King and will take the place of the Potion Shop Owner in this aspect and ask you to be an assistant if your affection for that rival is 100 or higher. When the Potion Shop Owner shows up (50 or higher affection) - Talking to him is (+2 Happiness). Agreeing is +3 affection for him. Declining is -5 affection for him. When Harris shows up (100 or higher affection) - Talking to him is (+2 Happiness). Agreeing is +3 affection for him. Declining is -5 affection for him. When Gray shows up (100 or higher affection) - Talking to him is (+2 Happiness). Agreeing is +3 affection for him. Declining is -5 affection for him. When Jeff shows up (100 or higher affection) - Talking to him is (+2 Happiness). Agreeing is +3 affection for him. Declining is -5 affection for him. When Cliff shows up (100 or higher affection) - Talking to him is (+2 Happiness). Agreeing is +3 affection for him. Declining is -5 affection for him. When Kai shows up (100 or higher affection) - Talking to him is (+2 Happiness). Agreeing is +3 affection for CLIFF. Declining is -5 affection for CLIFF. No, those stats are not an error. Answering Kai this way does actually change Cliff's affection and only Cliff's affection. This is a mistake by the developers. Kai's affection is correctly scanned to determine if Kai shows up, however. Many hackers when figuring this kind of thing out, assume everything is the same for say, all rivals and girls, where as I take the time to actually check every one individually to ensure the results are correct and accurate. Yes, after noticing this error, I double checked all of the others to be sure. Also as a final note, if you gain the +3 affection here, and you agree to perform in the musical, you will gain another +3 from that NPC when you trigger the festival. (When you're King it doesn't matter, because you can't agree, you can only decide who will 100% show up at the festival of the special 10 NPCs by asking them in their normal locations during the day, and being King alone guarantees a different set of affection increase altogether, see below for more details). To trigger the festival, enter the town square screen from 6:00 pm - 11:59 pm. Everything is open today, during normal hours. Available NPCs: Note: If you do not assist to perform in the musical (when you are not King), you will receive NONE of these affection increases! Only two will be randomly chosen if you decide to assist (and have met the requirements to decide to assist) as you will fill one of the three possible slots. You will only gain the affection boost for the three (or two) that show up with you. If the King this year is one of these NPCs (basically, not the Potion Shop Owner or yourself), they will also gain the specified affection increase. What decides the +3 or +5 you ask? You gain +3 if you perform and are not the King. You gain +5 for the three performers when you are the King, but the rest of the villagers gain the normal affection boosts. Whether you invite the NPCs or not has no difference on affection during the festival while you are King. **The Potion Shop Owner is always Harvest King the first year, but for some reason on the first year and only the first year, you will gain 0 affection from him. If you hack the King to be someone else on the first year, the Potion Shop Owner does not even show up in the crowd, and no affection is still gained. It must be year two or later to receive affection from him during this festival, basically. *** May is in The Shipper's arms at this festival ever year, but the developers didn't take into account that it should be the value of two NPCs instead of just one, so only The Shipper gets the affection, whereas May will always receive no affection every year, whether you perform or not! How unfortunate. Note: You do not gain any happiness for attending the festival in any way, shape, or form. Choosing assistants (obviously only possible if you are Harvest King): This was a headache to figure out, because I did all of my extensive testing on year 1. It has to be year two or later, or the option will just not happen. Having the ocarina, the cow bell, or nothing at all makes no difference, you will always be able to ask them once you agree with the Mayor that you will be the spirit for the year. When you ask them, if they agree, no statistical changes happen besides increasing the chance they will perform at the Spirit Festival to 100%. If you initiate conversations, and then choose not to invite them, the affection for that NPC decreases (-2). Be careful about that. The NPCs will accept your invitation to be an assistant if their affection is high enough (all NPCs tested). The requirement values listed below are what their affection has to be before you initiate conversation, since before you make a choice, you raise their affection because of the normal mechanics behind talking to a NPC for the first time in a day. You can only ask these ten NPCs. You cannot ask the Potion Shop Owner, just to clarify. Karen - 60 or higher. Maria - 50 or higher. Popuri - 50 or higher. Ann - 50 or higher. Elli - 50 or higher. Gray - 59 or higher. Harris - 50 or higher. Cliff - 49 or higher. Jeff - 50 or higher. Kai - 59 or higher. Fun fact: It's funny, if you invite them and they decline, or if you talk to them and choose "Don't invite" they still have a chance to randomly be generated to perform if you have unchosen assistant slots when you trigger the festival. To conclude, simply watch the performance and both the day and festival will conclude on its own after a few short dialogues. Everything is open today normally, so I'd get your mining, greenhouse, and animals done as priority. You don't gain any happiness from anything besides the warnings you get in the morning.. so if it is affection increases you want to maximize, then you will want to attend the festival in the town square that night. If you are not King, and don't accept / don't get invited to perform, you will gain no affection from this festival. If you perform or are King, you gain the affection, and an extra bit of affection when you are King from the three performers, whether they were specially selected by you, or randomly generated because you didn't select them during the day. Everything is open today, during normal hours. You have two options this time around. You can go to the church gathering, or you can party at the bar. (Kinda deciphers the difference between good and evil here, don't you think?) Both are very straight forward, and all you can do at either location is talk to the NPCs present. Available NPCs (church): Elli (+2) Maria (+2) Popuri (+2) Harris (+2) Jeff (+2) Midwife (+2) Pastor Brown (+2) Unexploitable. The only warning you get is if you attended one of the two locations from last night's New Year's Eve Festival, and as you choose to end the festival, they will warn you accordingly of the festival that is to take place today. To trigger, enter the town square screen anytime before 6:00 pm. Everything is closed today. When you enter the festival, various NPCs will be standing in groups talking to each other and exchanging toasts. If you have a high enough Alcohol Tolerance stat, you can out drink everyone and gain a hefty amount of affection for those NPCs as well... especially Karen and Kai. Have fun, and talk to the carpenter to end the day and festival. Available NPCs: Note: I decided to put these in order from who can drink the least to who can drink the most. Final notes, you can toast with Gray only once and receive the affection only once. His second dialogue does not make him leave or toast again with you, also not giving any affection. Cycles endlessly. If you attended the bar the night before, you will notice Gray says he is watching Ann to make sure she doesn't party too hard. This is very much likely why he will not leave. Last but not least, if you have a toast when your Alcohol Tolerance is at a value of 0, you will pass out and the day will conclude. Passing out has no statistical changes. To conclude, talk to the carpenter at the entrance of the town square and respond accordingly. On Winter 30th, I'd advise taking your bottle to the vineyard's wine cellar and drinking (stealing) 28 servings of wine. This will raise the Alcohol Tolerance statistic by +1 every time you have a drink, and in order to out drink everyone, you must enter the festival with 28 or higher Alcohol Tolerance. Do note, that every drink you've had during the year adds to your alcohol tolerance as well (drinking at the bar, Karen giving you wine etc.). No, you cannot drink the special bottle of wine you get from Duke, under any circumstances. Anyways, talk to every NPC over and over until they've had enough to drink and exit the festival for maximum affection gain. If you enter your horse, Doug gets a +3 affection boost. If you decline his offer, you get a decrease of affection (-5). It's better just not to talk to him and leave the screen if you wish to decline, to avoid the affection penalty. The festival for the horses races is constant effect, thus there is no trigger. However, the individual races have triggers. Constant effect meaning you can leave the festival and come back to it anytime. The festival is in constant effect from 8:00 am - 5:59 pm. To trigger race 1, be in the town square screen at 10:00 am. To trigger race 2, be in the town square screen at 1:00 pm. To trigger race 3, be in the town square screen at 4:00 pm. Everything is closed today. Simply put, the only benefit of entering a horse race is to earn the photo for winning your first horse race, after which you win nothing ever again for winning a horse race. The only other benefit of attending the horse races, is to increase your medal count to purchase the 3 unique prizes available by talking to the Mayor across the counter. Simply place bets at the counter across from the Mayor's Wife. For perfect games, maximizing medals will be necessary. The cap for medals is 9,999. If you have 4,950G on hand, you can bet 99 tokens toward one of the 6 available horses, and if they win, you gain 99 X whatever number odds were next to that horse's name on the betting screen. The odds can range from 2 - 40. 29,700G allows you to place full tokens on all six horses. Exploit: When you place all of your tokens down, exit the betting screen and you will be charged 0G, yet the tokens you placed will remain so, and you will still win the correct amount of medals based on the tokens you submitted toward the winning horse. You must exit the betting screen by pressing B, and not confirm anything. When your horse has high affection and you entered the race, it will be fairly easy to win just by rapidly tapping the A button during the race you are in. Stamina carrot does absolutely nothing, after extensive testing... nothing toward the race, and nothing toward affection gain / loss outside of the race. The best race strategy I can think of is to stay beside the horse that is in the lead, and at the end sprint just ahead enough to take the prize. Many games use the old "if you're far ahead, make the CPU catch up" mechanic, so this should conserve your stamina enough to allow you to win even with fairly low horse affection.
