Version History <==================> Version 1.0 - The guide that started it all... Version 2.0 - I MISSED A BLOCK! Turns out I had already hit it in the the file I was using to look for hidden blocks. Also I added a spoiler free guide. <==========================> 2. What are Hidden Blocks? <==========================> If you paid attention to Watt's character description, you probably would have heard of hidden blocks (or invisible blocks as the game refers to them). Or you simply forgot about their existance. I can't blame you for that, they're rare. Only 37 hidden blocks are in the game (36 by my count, avengah6 found one I missed!). 3 of those blocks contain badges (2 of which are impossible to find elsewhere). So what exactly is a hidden block? It's a block that is invisible. Hidden blocks can be revealed by using Watt's power. You don't have to be right next to them either, you can be anywhere in the area a hidden block is to see it with Watt. However, you don't have to be using watt to hit a hidden block. (I found my first hidden block due to a random jump.) In fact, you can hit a hidden block even if you don't have watt in your party yet. There are a few things you should note for hidden block hunting. First, hidden blocks will never be found in an area where NPCs are. Because of this, you'll never find a hidden block inside a building (not like Bowser's Castle, I mean like a shop in Toad Town). Also, hidden blocks are always jump blocks, never hammer. They sometimes require the ultra boots' jump, but never a hammer (there's ONE exception to that though). Lastly, like regular item blocks, if the hidden block's item isn't touched, if you leave the area and return, the item will re-appear inside the block and the block will remain invisible. This is useful if you have 10 items. Why should you hunt for hidden blocks? First of all, some people's definition of 100% in this game includes finding all hidden blocks. There are also 2 badges in hidden blocks that can't be found elsewhere. Not only that, but unlinke in The Thousand Year Door, you only have a finite supply of the "Big 3" items (not counting Little Oink Farming). The Big 3 items can't be found in stores, and they are Ultra Shrooms, Jammin' Jellies, and Repel Gels. 2 Ultra Shrooms, 2 Repel Gels, and 1 Jammin' Jelly can be found in hidden blocks. This info may be useful for speed runs if someone's in need of a last second item. Hidden blocks do not include blocks that appear after a certain action takes place, such as the Ultra Shroom in Dry Dry Desert that appears after you hit the block in the area north of Kolorado's camp 100 times, thus they will not be included in this guide. Hidden blocks can contain a coin, an item, or a badge. Usually a hidden coin block is found as a stepping stone; something to jump on to reach something. They're most common in Toad Town Sewers and at one point you have to use them to build a bridge to reach Chapter 7. This guide will not cover hidden coin blocks, and will only cover the 34 hidden item and 3 hidden badge blocks. <==================================> 3.
