ウッチャンナンチャンの炎のチャレンジャー 電流イライラ棒 Ucchannanchan's Flaming Challenger: Irritating Electric Stick Contents 1.Introduction 2.Walkthrough 1.Introduction Developed by Yukes and released by Hudson on December 19, 1997 this is a video game adaptation a electric maze game segment on the Asahi TV show ウッチャンナンチャンの炎のチャレンジャー これができたら100万円!! or Ucchannanchan's Flaming Challenger: If you can do this you will win 1 million yen!! The show was hosted by comedic duo Ucchannanchan who are Teruyoshi Uchimura and Kiyotaka Nanbara. Each maze featured a curved Unchan section and a straight Nanchan section, you will hear the announcer Ryo Izuno talk about them in the game. There are also U's and N's in the courses which refer to the duo as well. Every time the course was cleared a new maze would be made. Hence the six levels in this game. Several robots feature in the game. The first is on stage five, Irritating Robo who is modeled after Mr Sawa a producer on the show. The second is his wife Mrs Irritating Robo, she is the cover star of the game. Finally, the many headed Mecha Unnan A... There are only six levels in this game but the later ones are extremely difficult. It took me 10 hours to beat the game, 1 hour for the first three levels and then 3 hours each for the last three levels. There is an insane pro play of the game by a Japanese speed runner who 100%s the game in less than 7 minutes. The game is a lot more fun if you can understand the Japanese commentary. But if you are wondering what Tsuji Yoshinari is saying, he is mostly complimenting your play and announcing the upcoming sections of the course. If you hit the wall he doesn't chew you out, he mostly says things like "That's too bad!", although occasionly he will say "What are you doing?!". After the mazes featured in the game there were also an American themed maze, a Star Wars Phantom Menace Maze and finally a Taiwanese maze. These were the last mazes to feature on the TV show. A PS1 and PC game were also made. The PS1 game was brought to the west as Irritating Stick. 2.Time Attack Walkthrough Main Menu Time Attack VS Mode Rankings Options Options Screen Sound: Stereo or Mono Music on or off Commentary on or off Map on or off Display the whole stick: on or off Display the ghost of your best time on or off I recommend you do not display the whole stick because it is very hard to play that way. The controls are simple. Use the 3D Stick to move and hold to increase your speed. You should do this on straight sections to save time for the harder parts of the stage. There are multiple sticks to choose from, starting from the far left The practice stick - Lets you hit the hall two times before you get a game over. If you clear a stage your time will not be saved. There is no shame in using this stick. Even if you use the other sticks there is no credits sequence or unlockable content, so if you are stuck you may as well make use of the three chances this stick gives you on the later levels. The Safety Stick - Moves slower which lets you move more carefully but creates a time problem. The Standard Stick - This one is selected by default. This one is good enough to beat the game with. The Speed Stick - This one moves the fastest, but that may cause you to hit the walls more often. Level 1 Irritating Electric Stick Practice Level 2 Exploding Electric Stick Level 3 Super Irritating Electric Stick These first three levels are so simple they require no explanation, just go slowly on the zig zag sections at the end of each stage. Level 4 Ultra Irritating Electric Stick The first part of this stage is managable but the section with the four red presses is what makes this stage so difficult. I will explain the timing here. 1 Begin to move to the first hole when the press is blocking it. It will begin to move down giving you more than enough time. 2 Move to the second hole when both presses are blocking both holes. 3 Move to the third hole when the press above you is furthest away from you. This timing is the hardest one to judge. 4 From the third hole you can dash to exit, you don't need to move to fourth hole. The rest of the level is very narrow and you won't have much time, but do your best. Level 5 Final Irritating Electric Stick The first hairpin is very tight so take your time. When you reach the slot machine you need to move up with the first reel, then down with the second, and the up with the third wheel. Take the top path as it is the straightest and easiest. Once you move through the maze you will get to Nanchan's Roller, 6 rotating balls that you need to dodge. The first two holes are easy to get to. But the third one requires waiting for the gap between the two sets of 3 balls. Then you need to move diagonally down out of hole 2 and move diagonal up into hole 3 before the next set of balls hit you. There is very little time or space to spare making it one of the hardest parts of this stage. After you reach the box you are greated by Irritating Robo. Below his first hand is a safe spot as his hand does not move completly down to the bottom. So move down to the safe spot when his hand is up. His other hand is more difficult. You need to move diagonally to the next section when the hand is moving to the left. The "eye brows" are next. Move into the first eyebrow when they are in the up possition. Then tapp move your way through to the non moving middle V section. Move into the second eyebrow when they are beginning to move down from the top as they will become straight. Level 6 The Irritating Electric Stick Returns This stage is incredibly difficult, I recommend using the practice stick so that you have a decent chance of learning the maze and movement patterns. Having three chances before getting a game over will also reduce the chance you will go absolutely insane. This stage requires that you learn/improvise new movement patterns, such as dash movement and twitch movement. The moving U on the first corner is very tight so wait until it is at the top. Enter the Ucchan Sun section when the yellow flame is fully retracted. When the red one to the right retracts quickly move across, do the same for the orange one. I recommend using the A button like a dash button. Don't hold it down, or you will move too quickly and probably hit the wall. Just use it alittle to quickly dash when you see the flame ahead of you begin to retract. Move to the first exit, the straight course. This reminds me of Ikaruga's 4th stage. After moving through the tunnel and passing the red gate you will enter a safe zone. The timer will not count down and the walls will not cause a game over. Use this oppertunity to rest and time your next move. You need to enter the next section, Nanchan's Zone, when you see a moving platform with an opening on the left spawn. If you enter when the spawning platforms opening is on the right, the pattern will be messed up and you will die. Luckly as soon as you enter the next area you time will refill. Next you will enter Nanchan's Zone, featuring moving platforms coming up from below that resemble the first level on I wanna be the Guy. This section does not seem too hard at first, but this is where the game becomes unfair in my opinon. If you entered at the right time (when the platform spawing at the bottom has an opening on the left) then you will be able to pass through ok. As soon as you reach the top the camera will start doing a forced scrolling movement. This is the unfair part because it can trap you at the top or the bottom meaning that you will die for no reason. Additionally you may reach the bottom and be just about to enter the next section and the camera will begin scrolling up again, killing you. Do not use diagonal movements in here as they tend to get you killed, stick to the four cardinal directions. This is where using the practice stick may trip you up because if you die once then you will probably restart in a bad pattern meaning you will die again and again. But I still highly recommend using the practice stick if you want to get through this hell. The next section is unfair in a different way. Due to the perspective of the screen you can't see exactly where the twisty wall is, so it's easy to touch it. In this section use twitch movement. Don't push to the 3D stick as you normally do. Twitch it as if you were dodging bullets in a danmaku shmup, or entering a combo in a fighting game. For example, on the last straight you should push up, up, up until the model starts rotating so you can see exactly which direction up actually is. When you pass through the red gate at the top you will enter another safe zone, the time will stop. Your time will be refilled as you pass through the next red gate. Open the box to reveal Mrs Irritating Robo, the cover star of this game. Like her husband, her first hand has a safe spot underneath it. When you are ready, move forward to leave the safe zone and restart the timer. I find that moving forwards as her hand comes up give means it will be above you when it begins to come down. Dodge her other hand and then move on to her...her pneumatic breasts... Use the A button to move fast enough to cross over her first tit when it is fully retracted. Then wait in the middle of her clevage for her second tit to retract... (Dear mods please don't delete, this is a serious guide!) Twitch up through the next section and move onto her eyebrows. Move into the first one when it is fully up. Twitch through it and escape into the unibrow in the middle. Move into the second one when it is fully down. Then wait for it to move so you can escape. Oh, you thought that was the end of this hell? You were wrong. Mechan Unan A, the true final boss has been revealed. Move into the first cog. When you reach the second cog, don't try to skip it by going up. Go down and follow the cog around. It's much safer. Next is the Unan Press. With the right timing you can pass straight through in one go. But it's very risky. It might be slightly easier to get into the first hole and then dash across when the press on the right side is covering the other hole. By the time you pass through the middle it will have retracted. The timing for dashing straight through is when the first press is at the top and the middle path is open. It's what I ended up doing on my only successful run because I had so little time left. Depending on how fast you clear a level you will be rewarded with either a bronze, silver, gold or platinum crown. There is no credits sequence for this game, or reward for getting all platinums.
