Welome to my FAQ/Walkthrough for the Famicom game Doraemon: Giga Zombie no Gyakushuu. This game was released in 1990 by Epoch Co. in Japan and never leaved the country of blooming Sakura. Though, you can find a patch or patched version of this game known as Doraemon: The Revenge of Giga Zombie. I've been using that version for making this FAQ. Doraemon is one of the best known characters of Japanese Manga and Anime. He was created in 1969 by Hiroshi Fujimoto. Initially Doraemon has been appearing on pages of educational magazines for kids. In the course of time he has gained great popularity. Then, he has appeared in his first Manga. Less than ten years later, Doraemon has become almost a Japanese national institution. Now he is a hero of innumerable Manga, Anime series and of course, games. Doraemon: Giga Zombie no Gyakushuu is one of them. =========================================================================== ============ 2. Game Play ============ ------------- 2.1. Characters ============= Hero - the main character. You can decide whether Hero is a boy or a girl, you can also name the Hero freely. Hero helps Doraemon on his quest for finding his lost friends and defeating the Giga Zombie. Doraemon - also a main character. He was separated from his friends on their journey to defeat Giga Zombie. Now he has to travel in time in order to find his lost crew. He often is confused with a raccoon. Miyoko - she looks like a cat, but in fact she is Dr Moon's missing daughter turned into a cat and a magic user. She lives in Startown. Nobita - third main character. Nobita is a comrade of Doraemon. Sean - fox looking boy, Doraemon's crew member. Looks like he is into toys. Near the end of the game he makes very useful Toy Soldier. Gene - another Doraemon's crew member. His family owns a shop in Town, although he hardly ever helps there (you can't buy anything there either). He is big and very strong. Tella - although she isn't very strong in fights, she is the one who protects people in ancient Japan against Giga Zombie. This girl conceals a certain mystery. Lila - the only girl in Doraemon's crew. =========================================================================== ============== 4. Walkthrough ============== When you're done with the name and gender, you'll see the intro which says that the undead king - Giga Zombie (the one you see on the screen) is reviving dead kings to aquire power in an effort to rule our world again. Then you'll see a crew of heroes that set out to stop him. They traveled in time to find him, but he found out and twisted time and space. Doraemon was separated from his crew... Luckily, doraemon made it back to town. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ 4.1. He agrees (quite quick change of heart) and gives you MAIL to the High Priest. Are you tired of long treks, well go back to Chitei. You can use MAGIC DOOR to warp there quickly. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------- 4.3.8. Chitei (second visit) ---------------------------- Items: Shock Gun, Excalibur, Power Ring, Silk Robe, Zapper, Barrier, Time Machine Show the letter to guards and they will let you to the castle. The first person you see says that there's an intem on an island in the canal. In the upper part of the castle you'll find SHOCK GUN and EXCALIBUR, behind a gate. Now deliver the MAIL to the High Priest (he is in the middle). Hou says that truce isn't the answer, and they will fight to the death, even if it kill them, then he rips the MAIL (if you go to the castle basement without talking to the fake Hou, you'll keep the MAIL). Nobita finds Hou's acting strange. Now go to the basement, the entrance is in the upper part of the castle. It's time to use LAMP again. Take the upper path, take POWER RING and SILK ROBE from chests and talk to the guy above. He says, that he discovered a wall without a mass here. Now take the upper path and take ZAPPER from chest there. Do you see thinner place in the wall you are standing by? There's a passage. Go back and take the path below. Reach the place with thinner wall ang go through it. Now go all the way west, then south. Open the gate and talk to the real Hou. He says that the guy above is an imposter, a dirtdoll, then he asks you to beat him. Next to Hou stands Banho. Hero says that Ro is looking for him, and Banho replies that he is OK, and also asks you to beat the darn imposter. Well go do it, go back to the main hall, talk to Dorami and prepare for battle: Fake King: exp. 375 This isn't hard battle, just keep attacking and Fake King should be dead within a few rounds. Now that the fake Hou is beaten, the true one says that the dirtdolls are the ones who started the war, they want to rule both knights and ninjas, moreover the controll all of the dinosaurs. Banho goes to talk with the ninjas. Hou says that the boss of dirtdolls is in Kuroman Tower. You'll also recieve BARRIER from Banho and TIME MACHINE from Gene, who will join you (Gene has Sean's equipment). --------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------- 4.3.9. Kuroman Tower -------------------- Items: Flute, Reflector, 4x Cure3, Bandana, Guardian Sword, Cure2, Heroes Shield, Cure Party, Detox, Bomb, Rope, Lite Bell, Time Stop, Dragon Claw, Heal First go back to Sunosa Desert Camp site 1. Exit the camp and head north west, by the giant Epoch writing made of rocks. There's a canal to the west by the letter 'E'. Using PROPELLER go there, then go west at the intersection. When you reach a little island, search the space without trees, you'll find FLUTE there. Go back near the Epoch and go south taking the most western path. You'll be passing by an intersection to the east. If you go there, then south, you'll find a ninja house, where you can rest. Go back to the path to Kuroman Tower, keep going south until you reach it. Inside take any stairs you want, then take another stairs that lead up. Here take REFLECTOR from chest and take the stairs in the upper right corner. Now keep going up by taking the only available staircases unless you are in a room with chest. Take CURE3 and go around the room to the next stairs. Again, keep taking the only available stairs unless you are in a room with chest. Take BANDANA from chest, then take CURE3 from chest in the bottom right corner. Now take the stairs to the west, take GUARDIAN SWORD from chest there, go back and take the stairs to the north. Now again keep taking the only available stairs, take CURE2 and HEROES SHIELD on the way. When you finally have choice, take the most bottom stairs, take CURE PARTY from chest and return by the other stairs. Now take DETOX from chest to the north and take stairs to the west. Once again keep taking the only available stairs, take BOMB, ROPE, LITE BELL, CURE2, TIME STOP and CURE3 from chests on the way. Eventually you will reach a room with large grey slab with 'A' on it on the floor (the same you've seen on the first floor). You can save and rest here, just talk to Dorami. Take another CURE3 and DRAGON CLAW from chests and proceed farther. Take HEAL from chest on the way. When finally you reach a room with two guardians, talk to one of them and the battle will begin: Guardian and Stone Guardian exp. 2250 Both guardians are very strong. Take care of the Stone Guardian first, he is less resistant. When anyone's HP is around 100, heal that character. After the battle you are back in the Chitei, in front of castle. By beating the dirtdolls, all the dinosaurs are gone. Banho asks you to take Gene home, then you are warped back to Town. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ 4.4. PART FOUR - ANCIENT JAPAN ------------------------------ -------------------------- 4.4.1. Town (fourth visit) -------------------------- Items: N/A Your next destination is ancient Japan. Gene wpold go with you, but he have to go home, he left the shop without asking. Looks like during journey back to Town, Doraemon lost the propellers. Too bad, they were useful. If you talk to Brian, he will tell you about a secret path in Nobita's desk. Go to his house (it's to the north east of Brian's house) and use TIME MACHINE in front of Nobita's desk, on the second floor in room to the right, you will be warped to Torono (Sean hasn't finished making a tool of the glove Doraemon gave him, so don't bother going to his house). --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------- 4.4.2. Torono ------------- Items: Buckler, Shocker People of this town live in fear since Giga Zombie is alive, but a person named Tella protects them against him. Giga's headquarters is Devildome, which is situated in the centre of fire valley. To extinguish the fire surrounding Devildome you need the ICE STONE. Giga uses Toa natives for his dirty work, but they never seem to remember that. The tow to the east was attacked by Toa. Take BUCKLER and SHOCKER from a house in the bottom left corner of town. Now exit Torono, head to the nort west, cross the bridge, go south, cross another two bridges and you'll reach Kaiser. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------- 4.4.3. Keiser ------------- Items: N/A Here is not much to do. Go see the village chief, who lives in the most southern house. Looks like his memeory has deteriorated, he knows something about Tella, but can't seem to remember that. Exit Keiser, go back to the intersection with two bridges and go north until you cross a bridge, then turn east and go south until you reach Tokari. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------- 4.4.4. Tokari ------------- Items: Dragon Horn, Bomb, Barrier Armor, Halberd In a house in eastern part of town you'll find DRAGON HORN and BOMB and in top right house you'll find BARRIER ARMOR and HALBERD. Now enter the big building in the centre of Tokari. Here lives Tella. He says that Lila (the last crew member you are looking for) was here earlier, but she's home now and it's best if you all left also. She isn't very happy about Doraemon's mission. Leave Tokari, cross the eastern bridge and keep going north, until you reach the village of Tao. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------- 4.4.5. The village of Toa ------------------------- Items: Defense Ring, Fur Coat, Pistol, Cure3 Toa (or Tao) natives are very militant. Almost everybody you talk to here hits you (you don't lose any HP of that). In two holes in the middle of the village you'll find DEFENSE RING, FUR COAT, PISTOL and CURE3. By now your pouch should have reached its limit, so get rid of some useless items, like weaker weapons, armor, etc., or give some items to your party. Now go to the house in the upper part of village and talk to the guard in front of it. It doesn't really matter which answers you give him, unless he ask you about money. Give him some (you won't lose any, though), and enter chief's house. Talk to him, and...: Berserk exp. 2250 Another easy fight. Attack him and when anybody's HP is below 100, heal. Talk to the chief again and he tells you, that Tella has ICE STONE. After you leave the city, you'll notice, that everything is covered with snow. Go back to Tokari. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------- 4.4.6. Tokari (second visit) and Cave west of Toa ------------------------------------------------- Items: Ice Sabre, Bomb, Necklace, Ice Jacket, Cure3, Super Shot, Red Herb Talk to Tella, she tells you that you should be looking for a herb than for the ICE STONE. Kuru's mother is sick and she needs your help. She was poisoned by a monster and RED HERB can heal her. It lays next to an open chest in a cave. The cave is situated to the west of Toa village. Once in the cave, go south, skip the stairs and go east. Use stairs there, take ICE SABRE from chest and go back. Use the stairs you've skipped, here go north east and use southern stairs. Take BOMB, go back and use northern stairs. At the end of the path take NECKLACE from chest and use the stairs to the south west. Go north and use eastern path, take ICE JACKET, use western path then use southern stairs, take CURE3, go back and use northern stairs. Now use the only possible stairs, go south, use the first stairs, take SUPER SHOT from chest, go back and proceed farther. Use the last stairs, here searh to the left of chest and you'll find RED HERB. Return to Tokari. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------- 4.4.7. Tokari (third visit) --------------------------- Items: Ice Stone, Gold Cross, Speed Up Talk to Kuru (he is in the eastern part of town)and give him RED HERB. Now talk to Tella, she will give you ICE STONE and join your party. Now you can take GOLD CROSS and SPEED UP from chests that were behind Tella. Leave Tokari and go to the north west of Toa. Take northern path among the lava and when you reach an orange patch, use ICE STONE to freeze the lava. Now go the only possible way (at first intersection with bridge, don't cross the bridge, but go north). The monsters here are very powerful, so be careful. Sometimes even a character with around 150 HP can be killed. Eventually you will reach Devildome. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- 4.4.8. Devildome ---------------- Items: Flame Sword, Cure3 First go north west and take FLAME SWORD and CURE3 from chests. Now go all the way east, then north. Walk up to Giga Zombie and talk to him: Zombi exp. 10000 Attack him and heal yourself, when HP goes near 100. That was easy, wasn't it? Well... After the battle Tella thanks you and sends you back to Town. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------- 4.4.9. Town (fifth visit) ------------------------- Items: Toy Soldier Go pay Lila a visit, she lives next to Sean. Talking to her reveals some very interesting facts. After the talk she will join you. Now go see Sean. He has finally finished his project - TOY SOLDIER. Now go back to ancient Japan, use TIME MACHINE in front of Nobita's desk, then go to Devildome again. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------- 4.4.10. Devildome (second visit) -------------------------------- Items: Heroes Suit, Gold Blade Sword Once you are in Devildome, go to the place, where Zombi stood and walk one step to the left. You will be warped outside the wall. Now use the stairs. Take HEROES SUIT and GOLD BLADE SWORD from chest. Before you reach the stairs you will encounter a sub boss: DTR exp. 5000 He is easy. Just keep hitting him. Now proceed to next floor. Seven steps below awaits another fight: Dorf and Gorf exp. 10000 This fight is similiar to the one with guardians in Kuroman Tower. First take care of Gorf, he is more powerful, then beat Dorf. On the next floor you will encounter another sub boss, but...: Girzon exp. N/A He says that you're too weak for him, then escapes. Now proceed to the last floor. Here Giga Zombie is waiting for you. Once you walk up to him... No, I won't spoil it for you. Anyway, prepare to face up to the last boss: Girzon exp. 1 This guy is strong. With his RAGE attack he can cause up to 300 damage. Attack him and have Lila use Toy soldier, otherwise she will cause only 1 damage per round. You will have a small help during this battle also. Heal anybody whose HP is around 200. Well, you finished the game. Now enjoy the ending and credits. And don't forget to add this another RPG to your list of beaten games -_^ =========================================================================== ============ 5. Remaining mysteries ====================== There are two things in the game that I don't know. First is the effect of a spell Floater. The message after using that spell is 'Hero got lighter'. What does it mean? Has he or she lost weight or what? The second thing is Flute. Ok, this item isn't needed to finish the game, but I'm one of those fanatics, who don't leave alone a game unless they discover everything (and sometimes they don't leave alone a game after that). Flute can be found on a small island during visiting ancient Japan (for more details, check part 4.3.9. Kuroman Tower). It plays a short music and can be used in field and during battles (during boss battles it don't play any music) If you know what is the effect of Floater and/or what does Flute, please mail me. Of course I'll give you a credit for provided informations. =========================================================================== ========== 8. Credits ========== Epoch Co.
