Introduction : ................... Background ---------- In my opinion, Double Dragon II is one of the best, if not the best, 2-player simultaneous games for the NES. It's right up there with Tecmo Superbowl and Contra. Yet on GameFaqs, there is only one barebones walkthrough, a handful of useless codes, and an empty message board. So it is my attempt in writing this guide to assemble all the useful wisdom I have attained through many hours of gameplay, and to put out a beacon of light for all the other DD2 fans out there. However, like all NES games, Double Dragon II is utterly ridiculous in many ways. I hope to point out the hilarious quirks of this game along the way. So without further jibber jabber, here begins the guide... Story ----- -From Game- "In 19XX.... Violence ruled the streets of New York City after the Nuclear War. Even with the crime syndicates growing bigger every year, two young men were brave enough to challenge them. While their names were Billy and Jimmy Lee... ...people called them the Double Dragons! And yet, the Dragons had one terrible enemy. To fight against him was the destiny and fate of the Double Dragons. One day Shadow Warriors attacked the city and Billy's girlfriend, Marian, was killed. The Double Dragons swore to avenge her death!" *Reaction* Yeah! This intro really makes me wanna kick some Shadow Warrior ass!!! So the story is that 'the Nuclear War' in '19XX' somehow allowed violence to take over the 'streets of NYC'. Lousy Democrats...In the first Double Dragon, the Shadow Warriors merely duked Marian in the stomach and hauled her away. But this time they killed her! And as you can see in the intro cut scene, Marian was one of the hottest NES characters ever! I would be mad too. In fact, Billy Lee is so mad that he turns into an angry, wet, midget, and goes off to beat the crap out of anyone he runs into in his insane rampage through heliports and underwater headquarters. -From Manual- "The Black Shadow Warriors. They've gunned down your girl. And you and your brother Jimmy Lee are out for revenge. In your quest, you'll encounter nunchaku-toting enemy gangs. You'll battle through dangerous alleyways and in underwater tunnels. But nothing is too much for you two. Because you're trained masters of the invincible martial art of the Double Dragon." "THIS TIME THEY'VE GONE TOO FAR... Nuclear war has ravaged the city. And a gang of ruthless criminals, the Black Shadow Warriors, are trying to take over. They're Danger with a capital "D". Thugs and muggers. Tough street chicks. Greasers and hoods. High-jumpers and karate choppers. Plus burly bosses, gruesome giants and freaky and robots. First they hit the universally- famous Double Dragon Dojo, the home of the Double Dragon warriors. Martial arts students there were in constant training. Building their strength. Developing invincible moves. Honing their skills. But they weren't powerful enough. Or fast enough. Because somehow the Black Shadow Warriors managed to overcome every one of the men in training. And then they committed the ultimate crime: they gunned down your girl, Marion. Only you and your brother are left. Left to take on the entire army of Black Shadow Warriors. Left to push them out of the city. To follow them back to the dangerous source of their operation. Back to where their leader is. Back to where you can avenge the loss of Marion. You'll have to use every Double Dragon martial arts move you've mastered. The punches and kicks. The elbow smashes and jump kicks. The hair pulls and hair throws. Even the incredible 'SPINNING CYCLONE' and 'HYPER UPPERCUT.' The more you fight, the better you get. Which is a good thing. Because the deeper you get into Black Shadow territory, the more difficult things get. This quest is unlike any you have ever embarked upon--with enemies unlike any you've ever encountered. In fact, you'll enter places no one outside of the Black Shadow gang has ever dared to go. Places that hold a never-ending barrage of sheer terror. Places filled with warriors so evil, so treacherous, that only a Double Dragon warrior has a chance for survival. And that's where this adventure begins..." .............. : II. Basics : .............. You can figure out how to walk, climb ladders, and go through doors on your own. If you're having trouble, simply go to your doctor and ask him why you're a huge moron. Controls -------- A or B: Punch or Kick, depending on which way you're facing. A attacks to the right, B attacks to the left A&B: Jump +A or B: Jumpkick +A&B at peak of jump: Cyclone Kick +Punch upon landing/rising: Uppercut +A&B upon landing/rising and towards enemy: Violent Knee Attack *NOTE: This attack is hard to perform consistently, but when it connects, makes a sweet gunshot noise and launches the enemy all the way across the screen. Very satisfying against Abobo's* Towards a stunned enemy: Hair Grab +Punch: Knee the enemy in his face +Kick: Throw the enemy's limp body over your shoulder *NOTE: Use this move if your back is to a ledge, and you can fling the enemy to his death* +Down+Punch: Elbow the enemy on the back of his head +Up+Kick: Kick the enemy in his stomach and send him flying towards the sky. Weapons ------- A or B while standing over a weapon: Obtain weapon Punch: Use weapon Kick: Throw weapon (if possible) -Weapon's List- KNIFE: Punch to throw across screen CHAIN WHIP: Punch to swing at enemy PIPE: Punch to swing at enemy, Kick to throw across screen. *NOTE: Much more powerful when thrown* GRENADE: Punch to throw BOLA: Cannot be obtained DYNAMITE: Punch to throw Advanced Techniques ------------------- STANDING KNEE: Sometimes when you are very close to an enemy, pressing punch will cause you to knee him in the stomach. DUCK: Pick up a weapon or land from a jump when a projectile is about to hit you, and you can duck it. SUCKER PUNCH: Jump kick a ducking enemy and as soon as you land press punch to uppercut. They will dodge the Jumpkick, but the uppercut will catch them right under the chin. VIOLENT ABUSE: Hairgrab, Elbow, Elbow, Kick. This is the ultimate combination to use on a prone enemy. BEAR BAITING: Two can play at this game! In a 2-player game, stand on both sides of an Abobo and punch him repeatedly. Like a restrained bear being attacked by two starving dogs, he will not be able to defend himself, and perish. SURPRISE ATTACK: This technique will have your enemies saying, 'Well that's a fine how do you do!' Perform a Cyclone Kick in front of a door just before enemies come out of it. They will be greeted not by a courteous doorman, but by a furious foot to the face. .................... : III. Walkthrough : .................... *Note: This walkthrough is written for One Player, Supreme Master mode unless otherwise noted. Practice mode ends after level 3 and Warrior mode ends after level 8* "Let's go Double Dragons! Mission 1 - Into the Turf" ---------------------------------------------------- Manual Description: "Satellite inner-city headquarters for the Black Shadow gang. Get in there, clean the place out and head for the roof." *Enemies: 13 Gymnasts, 5 Rowpers, 6 Lindas *Weapons: Chain Whips, Knives, Pipes *Boss: The Disappearing Oaf -Phase 1- 3 Gymnasts will cartwheel towards you from the right. While they're pretty good at gymnastics, their fighting skills are lacking. Employ the Cyclone Kick technique to rudely interrupt their game of acrobatic one-upmanship, then use the Violent Abuse technique to finish off the survivors. According to the label on the B11 storage locker, 'FOZIN' is inside, so be careful. -Phase 2- Follow the disembodied Mickey Mouse glove's advice by walking to the right. Here you will encounter 3 Rowpers. The Rowpers are slow and dimwitted, so simply use the Violent Abuse technique to dispose them, one by one. Just be wary of their jumpkicks. -Phase 3- Continue to the right where you will find 3 Lindas attempting to descend the ladder. Don't let them. Use the Cyclone Kick to send them flying onto the unforgiving concrete. They will die. Use the Violent Abuse technique to finish off any of the survivors. Now hang your head in shame for attacking and killing helpless women who were trying to climb down a ladder. Also, be careful of the 'FAFOZIN' in the Storage Locker. Don't hang your head in shame for too long, because here come 3 Gymnasts to get revenge on you for besmirching their Linda friends. Just do Cyclone Kicks. The Gymnasts will be blinded by rage and run right into your feet. Clean up the trash with the Violent Abuse technique. You can walk to the right, but nothing will be there. Not even that glitch in Double Dragon I where you could hover up the corner. -Phase 4- At the top of the ladder, 3 Chain Whip wielding Lindas will come out of the red door labeled 'FREIN'. Cyclone Kick the first 2. Pick up a dropped whip and finish off them and their friend who will come out of the door. You can also kick/throw them over the ledge on the left side of the screen to kill them. Continue to the right and employ the same Surprise Attack technique on the 3 Gymnasts that come out of the blue door labeled 'FAFOZIN'. Pick up the knives that they drop and throw them at their faces. See that little red burst? That's their lifeblood. -Phase 5- Climb the ladder and prepare for 2 more Rowpers. Man these guys are dumb. Just make them die and move on with the game. At the top of the next ladder there will be a brigade of 4 Pipe wielding Gymnasts. Hairgrab each of them in turn and throw them over the ledge, just be careful not to get knocked off yourself. Also notice the ultimate storage locker. According to the label, it has 'FAFOZAFOZIN' inside. -BOSS: The Disappearing Oaf- This guy looks like a fat, retarded gimp. Try not to go toe to toe with him or he will pick you up by your red haircut and punch you repeatedly in the stomach. All you can do if this happens is make a befuddled expression. Just keep using Cyclone Kick and Sucker Punch techniques. After you knock him down several times, he will spread his arms and disappear, then reappear in the exact same spot. Man, that's some ability, eh? He could use that power to rob a bank and then get away, for a second or two. Just stand above the mask and try to time a Cyclone Kick for right when he finishes rematerializing. Knock him down a couple more times and he will disappear for good. Or will he? *NOTE: A riskier strategy involves luring the Disappearing Oaf far to the left and then knocking him over the ledge with jump kicks* *2-PLAYER STRATEGY: Use the Bear Baiting technique.* "They're escaping in that chopper. You'll never make it!" Level 2 - At the Heliport --------------------------------------------------------- *Reaction* Did you see the graffiti? What the hell does 'Go for Broak' mean? Do they mean, Go for Broke? Is Broak a popular sports team, celebrity, or politician in Japan? Maybe they meant to say Go For It, and it was translated badly. Even then, what kind of loser graffiti artist would spraypaint 'Go For It' on a wall? A Shadow Warrior graffiti artist, that's who. Manual Description: The Black Shadow gang keeps its chopper up here. But once they see what you're doing to their guys, they're going to try to head for the skies. *Enemies: 8 Rowpers, 2 Lindas, 2 Gymnasts, 2 Boxers *Weapons: Grenades, Pipes *Boss: Hyperactive Ninjas -Phase 1- This level is much more centered around jumping than last one. You'll come out of the PH-1 door with the 'CAUNUT' label above it. See those 2 Rowpers in the lower right? Break up their little Rowper party with a jump kick and then finish them off by knocking them over the ledge. If you're not aggressive here, you run the risk of being knocked into the gap. And I don't mean 'The Gap' affordable clothing store either. -Phase 2- Climb down the golden pipe. Jump across to the right and Cyclone Kick the first Rowper to make him fly off the right side. Then when his buddy comes climbing down the pipe Cyclone Kick him in mid descent to send him sailing over to the other side. When he tries to jump back, hit him into the gap. Now climb the pipes. -Phase 3- As soon as you get to the roof, climb immediately back down and to the right because a chopper will start firing slow moving, glowing bullets at you. Now 6 various enemies will come out of the helicopter in 3 pairs. If you are good at the Cyclone Kick, you can knock each pair over the edge to the left as they descend the pipe. If not, just kill them regularly, but look out for Linda's grenade, it packs a punch. Once all 6 enemies are dead, the helicopter panics and flies away. Why wouldn't they just use that gun to kill you? *CHALLENGE: Try staying on the roof for the whole helicopter sequence. That means dodging all the bullets and killing all 6 enemies without climbing back down the ladder. :o>* *NOTE: The helicopter says PH-1 on it. Coincidence? I think not* -BOSS: Hyperactive Ninjas- Continue to the right and kill 4 Rowpers, then prepare for the fight of your life. These Hyperactive Ninjas are crazy. Your best bet is to use their hyperactivity against them by doing Cyclone Kicks and letting them run right into your feet. 3 Cyclone Kicks each will finish them. If you're very good, you can end this battle with 3 well-timed Cyclone Kicks. However, if you do get knocked down, just try to do Violent Knee Attacks, Uppercuts, and Cyclone Kicks as much as possible, and you should eventually kill them. The helicopter will fly away. Is this the same one that shot bullets at you? No, this one is R-11. Try to fly away with the helicopter by doing Cyclone Kicks. "Hold it! You'll never escape from us! G.R.A.S.P" "The Chopper escaped into the neon-filled night." Mission 3 - Battle in the Chopper ------------------------------------------------- *Reaction* Man, that was so cool when he grabbed the ladder and it goes 'G.R.A.S.P' Next time I do an exciting action I'm going to spell the word of what I'm doing. Example? "Hey Mom, I'm going to get the mail! W.A.L.K" Then came the most poetic words I have ever witnessed in a NES game cutscene. "...escaped into the neon-filled night..." Those words, those beautiful words. They make me want to go to a coffee shop. Finally, I noticed they changed the 'levels' into 'missions', so I guess the Double Dragons are in the military now? Sergeant Billy and Colonel Jimmy? Manual Description: Steady boys...This chopper really rocks and rolls. And it's headed straight towards enemy headquarters--which is hidden on a secret island somewhere in the middle of the ocean. *Enemies: 2 Boxers, 3 Gymnasts *Weapons: Pipes *Boss: Mexican Abobo Brothers -Phase 1- This level is very short but it is also easy to lose all your lives on. Apparently, someone forgot to shut the door on the chopper before taking off! If you're a bit of a daredevil you can use this to your advantage by dancing around next to the door and letting the enemies get sucked out. In fact, you can go through this entire level with your nose against the right wall, just moving up and down to dodge and move away from the open door. If you want to play it safe and stay away from the door, there's a neat trick with the Gymnasts that you can use. For some reason, they value their cheap metal Pipes more than their lives. So if you throw a Pipe over by the door, an empty- handed Gymnast will run after it, and be sucked out the door when it opens. Ha Ha! The Surprise Attack technique also works well here. Just time Cyclone Kicks in front of the door to the left just as enemies are coming out of it. -BOSS: Mexican Abobo Brothers- The easiest way to beat these clowns is to just stand against the right wall and dodge their swipes until the door sucks them out. But if you don't want to take the risk, just try Cyclone Kicks or Violent Knee Attacks from the left side of the screen. But look out for the Mexican Abobo Brothers special attack, The Working Mans Overthrow! Mexican Abobo will toss you over his head, and right out the door. "The chopper is landing on a mysterious island." Mission 4 - Undersea Base ------------------------------------------------ *Reaction* Mysterious island, eh? Well then it looks like the Dragons will be kicking some mysterious ass! Manual Description: This submerged hideout is loaded with the latest in high- tech surveillance systems and weaponry. It's treacherous. And it's the home of the giant metal claws. Good Luck! *Enemies: 3 Rowpers, 6 Lindas, 3 Boxers, Arnold Schwarzanegger, 3 Gymnasts, Mexican Abobo *Weapons: Bolas, Grenades, Knives *Boss: Crazy Conveyor Catastrophe -Phase 1- First of all, be careful not to fall off the bottom edge of the screen. It's stupid, but if you press down too far, you'll fall into the water. Approach the Rowpers carefully because they have these spiky chain boomerang things that they will throw at you. The best way to deal with these is to approach them in a zig zag fashion, and don't stand too far away from the Rowpers. And for the love of God, take a moment to admire the beautiful sunset in the background. Also notice that the signs that say 'OUT' are horrible lies. Go in the door anyway and ride the elevator down. -Phase 2- It's cool how the water just kind of stops in mid-air, huh? They weren't kidding when they said mysterious. When you get to the bottom you will be surrounded by Boxers. First, notice that you can't jump down here because the ceiling is carpeted with spikes. Second, notice that it takes 2 kicks to stun a Boxer, so getting them in the Hairgrab is a tad more difficult. After you box up the Boxers, get ready for your first meeting with Arnold Schwarzanegger. -Mini-boss: Arnold Schwarzanegger- Arnold's most devastating attack is the HumV Shoulder Charge. Not only will this blast through your attacks, it will knock you into the ceiling spikes. Keep your distance from Arnold by hitting him with repeated kicks. When he knocks you down, try to score an Uppercut or Violent Knee Attack as you get back up. *NOTE: The spikes on the ceiling do not hurt you, so you can use them to fall down and then execute special moves.* -Phase 3- Continue to the right but stop before the Crushers. There are 4 of these and they take off one unit of health each time they make contact so a good strategy is imperative. You must be patient. Stand as close to the spike as possible before trying to walk underneath. The spike should pass right through the front of your red haircut and pierce the tip of your prancer shoe. If you stand any closer it will hit you. Then as soon as you have enough clearance, walk through and stop before the next Crusher. Continue this method until you've cleared all the Crushers. This takes patience, technique, and timing, but with enough practice you'll be able to make it through unscathed. -Phase 4- Move on to the large chute in the ceiling. Out of it will drop 3 Lindas with Grenades and 3 Gymnasts with Knives. You'd think they would be hobbled after such a fall, but they're not. The good news is that you can use the chute to jump again. I like to employ the Blender strategy here. It is a specialized version of the Surprise Attack technique. Just perform a Cyclone Kick at the bottom of the chute and let the enemies fall right into your spinning legs, like chunks of food dropping onto the rotating blades of a blender. You can then kill the Lindas with their own Grenades and beat up the Gymnasts with Knives or traditional attacks. -Mini-boss: Mexican Abobo- This guy can be tough, but if you use the chute to your advantage he should be easier than Arnold. Just stand at the bottom of the chute and when he comes near you, use a Cyclone Kick. If he ducks, follow up with an Uppercut or Violent Knee Attack. Repeat until he's dead. *2-PLAYER STRATEGY: There will be both Mexican Abobo Brothers here, but you can use Bear Baiting* -Boss: Crazy Conveyor Catastrophe- This isn't really so much a boss as it is an obstacle. As soon as you go through the door that the Mexican Abobo came out of, press down so that you are not standing on the conveyor belt. Now stand right underneath the bottom belt. Stand as close to it as you can without being on it. Then walk as close to the left side as you can before jumping. Make sure you don't fall, but also make sure that you're not jumping from 3 feet away from the edge. When you get to the other side, step onto the bottom belt in the middle and then let it move you towards the left side. Before you get to the edge, push up to step onto the top belt, which will push you to the right. If you did it right, the door will open and you can go right inside. But if you miss, don't panic. Just stay on the top belt and walk towards the left, you will keep your ground. Let it move you to the right until you are just about one jumps distance from the door. Then jump right onto the door and enter when it opens. *CHALLENGE: Try making it through this room without ever setting foot off of the conveyor belt!* "Where does this path lead us?" "We've got no choice but to go on, though this is the way to certain death." Mission 5 - Forest of Death --------------------------- *Reaction* Jeez, is this guy a pessimist or what? If the Dragons are so certain that this path will lead to their death, aren't they basically committing suicide? Their glass is half-empty. Keep your chin up boys, it'll be OK, even if it is called the 'Forest of Death'. Manual Description: This hideout's disguised as a forest, hidden deep in the island's hills. And it's rigged to plow enemies like you into the ground. So play it carefully. Know the ropes. And watch out for heavy moving equipment. *Enemies: 6 Lindas, 10 Rowpers, 2 Mexican Abobo Brothers, 2 Martial Artists, 2 Boxers *Weapons: Chain Whips, Dynamite *Boss: Arnold Schwarzanegger -Phase 1- This level reminds me of the woods stage in Double Dragon 1. Except there's not that one guy crouching up in the tree. I used to love undercutting his legs with a Jumpkick when he tried to jump down. Then he banged his back on the ground, hehe. This time you will encounter 3 Lindas with Chain Whips. This should be academic by now. Beat up Lindas, take whip, kill Lindas with one hit from whip. Take a moment to notice the 'DANGER!' sign. It's one of the first coherent signs in the game. Also take a moment to admire the beautiful view in the background. It appears to be a nice little town. Maybe an inn and a general store with an old man on the porch, a young boy sitting on the dock with a piece of hay in his mouth and a fishing rod in his hand. But enough with the reminiscing, you've just murdered 3 women. -Phase 2- Continue to the right and you will approach a ledge. Don't just blindly jump over it though. This part was programmed badly and, in a 2-player game, you can often lose an unnecessary life here. To prevent this, make sure you and your partner jump over at the same time. If one stays topside, the screen will not scroll down, and the player that went over the ledge will lose a life. When you land, immediately press punch to Uppercut the Rowper to death. Then climb down the ladder, even though it seems like a short fall, you will lose a life if you try to jump down to the ground while your partner remains at the top, so carefully line up with the ladder before descending. *2-PLAYER STRATEGY: Have your partner climb down the ladder, then when he gets halfway down, jump over the ledge and you will land on the ground without losing a life! This is just a way of showing off* *NOTE: For some reason, the lone Rowper on the ledge needs be knocked down only once to die. Maybe he had leprosy or something* -Phase 3- Kill the 3 Lindas to the left with their own Chain Whip, then continue to the right for the most dangerous jumping section you have faced up to this point. You have a choice here: the top path, or the lower path. The top path seems easier because it is only one section of dock that you have to deal with. But it is actually not as easy as it seems because the jump back onto shore is a lot harder than it looks. And if you fall into the water, you're dead. Hey what kind of great warriors are these anyway? They can hover in the air for several seconds using their legs as propellers, and they can knock a 500-pound man across a large room using only their knee, but they can't swim? Not only can they not swim, they can't even manage to struggle in the water. They just make a small splash and that's it, they're dead at the bottom of the lake. So, my advice is to take the lower path. Line yourself up on the rock wall, then make each jump precisely and patiently, and you should make it. Don't forget to check out the sweet graphics on the waterfall! At the other side of the river you will meet 3 Rowpers climbing down the vines. Cyclone Kick them off the vines, then use the varied terrain to hurt them while they try to jump from ledge to ledge. -Phase 4- Climb the vine where you will find 4 more Rowpers coming out of a quaint cabin. Use the Surprise Attack technique to knock them over the ledge as they come out the door. But be careful because they will drop sticks of Dynamite. After the Rowpers, there will be 2 Mexican Abobo Brothers. These guys are especially dangerous here because they will use the Working Man's Overthrow attack to toss you over the ledge. So, the best strategy is to be aggressive. Keep using the Surprise Attack technique to knock them right over the ledge before they even have a chance to say hello. *2-PLAYER STRATEGY: If you can see that your partner is about to become a victim of the Working Man's Overthrow, drop everything and Jump Kick the Abobo. It may just save his life* -Phase 5- Continue to the right to face off against 2 Martial Artists. Just use Cyclone Kicks to kill them, then get ready for the giant Zamboni Bulldozer Steamroller thing. You've got to jump to the top of this thing to make it stop moving and spewing steam, but this is a task that's easier said than done. Just use technique and don't start an ascent unless the thing is scrolling out. When you get to the top, 3 Rowpers with Dynamite and 2 Boxers will come out of the door. Just use the Surprise Attack and Violent Punishment techniques to kill them off. -Boss: Arnold Schwarzanegger- After you kill the 2 Boxers, Arnold Schwarzanegger will come out of the door. He is probably the easiest Boss in the game. Just greet him with a Cyclone Kick. A second Cyclone Kick should knock him down to the ground. Now just laugh at him as he struggles to climb back to the top. Hey, at least he doesn't have to deal with the steam and movement. The way he jumps without moving his arms at all is great comedy. It's like he's worried that someone's watching him or something. When he gets near the top, Cyclone Kick his head before he lands on your platform again, and he should fall back to the ground. Repeat until he's dead. Or to make it faster you can fall down to the ground and Cyclone Kick him there. "Where in the world are we?" "There is evil in the air." Mission 6 - Mansion of Terror ----------------------------- *Reaction: Where in the world are we? It appears to be a Japanese dojo. From the 'Forest of Death' to the 'Mansion of Terror'. Out of the frying pan and into the fire, eh? Manual Description: You're getting hot now. Because you've just entered the outer core of Black Shadow Central. You'll need all your instincts--because nothing is as it appears--and some things have a way of disappearing. *Enemies: 3 Boxers, 3 Martial Artists *Weapons: None *Boss: Difficult Jumping Section -Phase 1- This level is all about jumping. In the first phase you must jump across a pit of spikes using two disappearing platforms while candle flames drop on you and a golden religious symbol watches you. Mansion of Terror indeed. Be forewarned that you can fall in between the steps leading up to the pit. The pattern for candle droppings is 1,1,2,3 where 1 is the farthest to the left. The two rightmost candles do not drop flames. Every 2 hits from candle flames will drop you one unit of health, but their real danger is knocking you into the pit of spikes. *NOTE: You can jump from the first disappearing platform all the way over to the other side, you don't need to use the third, or even the second platform, although it may make it easier.* -Phase 2- On the other side of the spike pit there will be two doors on either side of a raised platform, and some cool golden statues on the wall. Out of the doors will come 3 Boxers, then 3 Martial Artists. These are the only enemies in this level. They are not difficult to defeat if you use the platform in the middle to your advantage. Just stay on the lower portion and Cyclone Kick their legs as they walk across the raised portion. They will die quickly. -Boss: Difficult Jumping Section- Like level 4, this is more of an obstacle than a Boss. However, it seems to claim more lives than any other area in the game before it. But it doesn't have to be this way if you are patient and calm. First of all, don't make a stupid mistake and fall into the tiny gap approaching the obstacle. Just jump over it. Now for the actual jumping. Watch the pattern a couple of times before attempting to jump, so that you don't panic when you're up in mid-air. You'll want to leap to the next platform as the one you're standing on starts flickering. When you get to the 2nd disappearing platform, make sure you are standing on the right portion of it, or else you will leap over the next platform when you try to jump. Finally, on the last disappearing platform, make sure you jump as close to the right edge as possible, or you will miss the platform with the door and fall into the little pit of spikes. Follow this advice and you should be fine. *2-PLAYER STRATEGY: For the love of God, go one at a time so that you don't distract your partner as he tries to make his jumps and vice versa. Or for expert players, try to distract your partner as he makes his jumps. Whoever gets to the top first should caper around while he waits.* "Billy.....from here on it's too dangerous!" "I think I heard Ma...Marian's voice. That's impossible, or is it?" Mission 7 - Trap Room --------------------- *Reaction: First of all, what happened to the hot as balls Marian we came to know and love in the level 1 cutscene. Second of all, who the hell would say 'from here on it's too dangerous'? They've killed dozens of thugs, fought helicopters with their hands, had their faces melted off by steam, and now it's too dangerous? Third of all, if the place you're going is called 'Trap Room' you can kind of assume that the voice you heard wasn't really Marian's. Numbskull.* Manual Description: Here lie the inner workings of the Black Shadow domain. Don't let the maze of pipes, wheels, and gears bring you to a grinding halt. And--oh yes--watch out for runaway bullets. *Enemies: 3 Boxers, 1 Disappearing Oaf, 7 Rowpers, 3 Gymnasts, 2 Martial Artists *Weapons: Dynamite, Knives *Boss: Arnold Schwarzanegger -Phase 1- This room looks like this: ------- enter o<<<<>>o o
