DRAGON WARRIOR I & II ------------------------------------------------------------ Dragon Warrior II GIF Map information - Date/Version 3.06.19 ------------------------------------------------------------ By Apostrophe (apostrophe@myrealbox.com) ------------ Introduction ------------ On June 13th, I bought myself a Gameboy Advance. I owned an original Gameboy, but I never bothered to buy a Gameboy Color. Since the Gameboy Advance allows you to play Gameboy/Color games on it, I decided to pick up a few Gameboy Color games that had missed out on before the GBA. One of the games I decided to buy was Dragon Warrior I & II. I had originally played both Dragon Warrior games on the 8-bit Nintendo system. But it's been such a long time since I had played them, I couldn't remember all of it, so I came here to GameFAQs for information. While Shdwwrym's FAQ was a great help, and PKeating's DW1 maps made things alot easier, I felt that DW2 deserved some maps of their own. Mostly, I was curious as to how the maps in the Gameboy version had changed from the NES version. That's where my screen capture maps come in. :D ----------- What's New: ----------- 01/08/01 - First Version! 01/08/16 - Split the main zip file into five small packs for NeoSeeker to post. GameFAQs has decided to post all of the maps in one large zip, but I feel it might be easier for readers not have to download such a huge file, so when NeoSeeker approached me about posting my maps, I broke them into the following five packs: Pack 1: All Towns and Kingdoms Pack 2: Lake Cave and Tower of Wind Pack 3: DracoLord's Castle and Lighthouse Pack 4: Lune Tower and Volcanic Sea Cave Pack 5: Cave to Rhone and Hargon's Castle 03/06/19 - Updated my E-Mail address on the maps. ------------------------- Map Format and Navigation ------------------------- The maps are rather basic, I've designed them similar to a Win9x interface. On the top, you've got your game title and location (Town/Dungeon Name and Floor.) There is a "Worldmap" showing you where the location is on the overworld itself and the usual copyright and contact information at the bottom. I did not map out certain floors if they are simply too small to warrent a map. (For example, a small room in a castle, or a straight non-branching corridor in a dungeon. In the latter case, I simply connected it to where it would lead to on the main map.) The maps have letters annotating certain objects in the map (such as where some stairs go, or what treasure a chest may contain.) Yellow letters generally represent locations and items in towns, and connecting staircases in dungeons. For example, the stairs on the first floor next to the letter "A" will bring you to the stairs on the second floor next to letter "A". Red letters represent treasure chests in dungeons. If a staircase is annotated by a red letter, it means that the item in question is basically in a tiny room on the other end of the staircase. Blue letters are rare, aside from one instance in Rhone Cave, they're exclusive to the Volcanic Sea Cave maps. They show connecting staircases that are on the same floor. Basically, the Sea Cave uses several short passage-ways to confuse the gamer to loop around, thus throwing off his sense of direction. Instead of showing these short passages, I noted where they bring you. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- These are the file names of the maps in the entire set: Format: Game_MapNumber_Place_Floor DW2_01_Lorasia.gif = Lorasia Castle DW2_02_Leftwyne.gif = Town of Leftwyne DW2_03_Cannock.gif = Cannock Castle DW2_04_Spring.gif = Hero's Spring DW2_05_LakeCave_F1.gif = Lake Cave (Floor 1) DW2_06_LakeCave_B1.gif = Lake Cave (Basement Floor) DW2_07_Hamlin.gif = Town of Hamlin DW2_08_Moonbrook.gif = Moonbrook Castle DW2_09_WindTower_F1.gif = Tower of Wind (Floor 1) DW2_10_WindTower_F2.gif = Tower of Wind (Floor 2) DW2_11_WindTower_F3.gif = Tower of Wind (Floor 3) DW2_12_WindTower_F4.gif = Tower of Wind (Floor 4) DW2_13_WindTower_F5.gif = Tower of Wind (Floor 5) DW2_14_WindTower_F6.gif = Tower of Wind (Floor 6) DW2_15_WindTower_F7n8.gif = Tower of Wind (Floors 7 and 8) DW2_16_Lianport.gif = Town of Lianport DW2_17_Tantegal.gif = Tantegal Castle DW2_18_DracoLord_F1.gif = DracoLord's Castle (Floor 1) DW2_19_DracoLord_B1.gif = DracoLord's Castle (Basement 1) DW2_20_DracoLord_B2.gif = DracoLord's Castle (Basement 2) DW2_21_DracoLord_B3.gif = DracoLord's Castle (Basement 3) DW2_22_DracoLord_B4.gif = DracoLord's Castle (Basement 4) DW2_23_DracoLord_B5.gif = DracoLord's Castle (Basement 5) DW2_24_Lighthouse_F1.gif = Lighthouse (Floor 1) DW2_25_Lighthouse_F2.gif = Lighthouse (Floor 2) DW2_26_Lighthouse_F3.gif = Lighthouse (Floor 3) DW2_27_Lighthouse_F4.gif = Lighthouse (Floor 4) DW2_28_Lighthouse_F5.gif = Lighthouse (Floor 5) DW2_29_Lighthouse_F6.gif = Lighthouse (Floor 6) DW2_30_Lighthouse_F7.gif = Lighthouse (Floor 7) DW2_31_Lighthouse_F8.gif = Lighthouse (Floor 8) DW2_32_Osterfair.gif = Osterfair Castle DW2_33_Zahan.gif = Town of Zahan DW2_34_Wellgarth.gif = Town of Wellgarth DW2_35_Tuhn.gif = Town of Tuhn DW2_36_LuneTower_F1.gif = Lune Tower (Floor 1) DW2_37_LuneTower_F2.gif = Lune Tower (Floor 2) DW2_38_LuneTower_F3.gif = Lune Tower (Floor 3) DW2_39_LuneTower_F4.gif = Lune Tower (Floor 4) DW2_40_LuneTower_F5n6n7.gif = Lune Tower (Floors 5, 6, and 7) DW2_41_SeaCave_F1.gif = Volcanic Sea Cave (Floor 1) DW2_42_SeaCave_B1.gif = Volcanic Sea Cave (Basement 1) DW2_43_SeaCave_B2.gif = Volcanic Sea Cave (Basement 2) DW2_44_SeaCave_B3.gif = Volcanic Sea Cave (Basement 3) DW2_45_SeaCave_B4.gif = Volcanic Sea Cave (Basement 4) DW2_46_Beran.gif = Town of Beran DW2_47_RhoneCave_B1.gif = Cave to Rhone (Basement Floor) DW2_48_RhoneCave_F1.gif = Cave to Rhone (Floor 1) DW2_49_RhoneCave_F2.gif = Cave to Rhone (Floor 2) DW2_50_RhoneCave_F3.gif = Cave to Rhone (Floor 3) DW2_51_RhoneCave_F4.gif = Cave to Rhone (Floor 4) DW2_52_RhoneCave_F5.gif = Cave to Rhone (Floor 5) DW2_53_Hargon_F1.gif = Hargon's Castle (Floor 1) DW2_54_Hargon_F2.gif = Hargon's Castle (Floor 2) DW2_55_Hargon_F3.gif = Hargon's Castle (Floor 3) DW2_56_Hargon_F4.gif = Hargon's Castle (Floor 4) DW2_57_Hargon_F5.gif = Hargon's Castle (Floor 5) DW2_58_Hargon_F6.gif = Hargon's Castle (Floor 6) DW2_59_Hargon_F7.gif = Hargon's Castle (Floor 7) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Notes: Some of the Rhone Cave maps are extremely large, and as such, I've had to scale them to about 50% their actual size. The graphics aren't as nice as they could have been, but they would have knocked the file size up to higher than 100KB. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Credits: A special thanks to Shdwwrym for allowing me to use his FAQ to annotate some of the chests after I accidently deleted my notes... The order of my maps follow the order that you take when using his FAQ as a walkthrough. Thanks, of course, to Enix. Without them, these maps wouldn't exist. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Copyright: (c) 2001 Apostrophe. All rights reserved. Dragon Warrior I & II game, maps, graphics, and names are all owned by Enix. Below is a list of the only sites that I have given permission to post my maps. You have my permission to download your own copies of my maps, but please don't post these versions anywhere. It took me way too long to make them, and if you want to post game maps somewhere, please create your own versions. CJayC also allows you to link to a game's page (NOT the actual FAQ/map, though) so if you must link to my maps, I suggest tht you link to GameFAQs' main DW 1&2 page. Granted, it's not a direct link to a map, but it's the best alternative.
