What's New -= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Version 1.0 (3/23/06): The first complete version of this FAQ. ***************************************************************************** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -= 2. Introduction -= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= This game is the fourth in a series of arithmetic learning games for the Nintendo Famicom. This particular game focuses on all four orders of operation, but it also introduces fractions and decimals to the mix. It's an old game primarily meant for educational purposes, and as such there is little variety. There are four modes, two dealing with decimals, one dealing with fractions, and another with division only. These game modes contain short mini-games where you have to solve the displayed math problems. If you somehow don't know how to add, subtract, multiply, or divide, you may want to check this game out, otherwise you're not missing anything by not trying it. ***************************************************************************** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -= 3. Controls -= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Control Pad: Move cursor on menu screens, move characters in the games Start: Pause/resume the game Select: Move cursor on menu screens A: Use varies with game mode B: Use varies with game mode ***************************************************************************** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -= 4. Game Modes -= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= ======== Overview ======== When you start the game, there is a menu screen with 4 modes you can access (details on those modes can be found below). In each mode, you can pick between two courses. Both courses are exactly the same, but course 2 is the slightly more difficult version of the two. After you pick the course number (コース), you then get the option to choose how many players will be participating. Once you do that (1 player = ひとりでやる, 2 players = ふたりでやる), your chosen game will begin. In all the modes, you are given 3 lives, so you can only mess up that many times before your game ends. ================= Division (わり算) ================= Course 1 -------- In this mode, you have control of a little man, and there are several doors you can enter. There are also two ladders you can climb up/down to reach each level. To enter a door, approach it from the left and hold A while moving to enter. Inside the four rooms, there will be three smaller boxes which contain numbers you can view by opening the boxes. You can see the division problem to your right, so your objective is to go from room to room in pursuit of the number(s) you need to solve the problem. Throughout the rooms, you will encounter various small, slow-moving enemies. You can attack by pressing B (10 points per hit, 500 points per kill, but it's entirely optional to attack). In the main hub, there is a large ghost enemy; you cannot attack it so stay away to avoid death! When you find a number you need, press A and you'll receive 1000 points. Once the problem is complete, go back to the main area and climb up the topmost ladder to progress to the next stage, gaining 5000 points as well. Course 2 -------- This course is the same as the first course, but the numbers you have to divide can be in the thousands as well as hundreds. ===================================================== Decimal Addition & Subtraction (小数のたし算とひき算) ===================================================== =============================== Decimal Addition (小数のたし算) =============================== Course 1 -------- In this mode, you have control of a little man, and there are several doors you can enter. There are also two ladders you can climb up/down to reach each level. To enter a door, approach it from the left and hold A while moving to enter. Inside the four rooms, there will be three smaller boxes which contain numbers you can view by opening the boxes. You can see the addition problem to your right, so your objective is to go from room to room in pursuit of the number(s) you need to solve the problem. Throughout the rooms, you will encounter various small, slow-moving enemies. You can attack by pressing B (10 points per hit, 500 points per kill, but it's entirely optional to attack). Once the problem is complete, go back to the main area and climb up the topmost ladder to progress to the next stage, gaining 5000 points as well. Please note that there are decimals involved as well as regular numbers. If your answer contains a decimal (and they will), input all the numbers first, then find the decimal in one of the rooms. When you find it, you'll have to place it in the proper position to get the correct answer and the points. Course 2 -------- This course is the same as the previous one, but the numbers being added can be in the thousandths instead of stopping at the hundredths place value. ================================== Decimal Subtraction (小数のひき算) ================================== Course 1 -------- In this mode, you have control of a little man, and there are several doors you can enter. There are also two ladders you can climb up/down to reach each level. To enter a door, approach it from the left and hold A while moving to enter. Inside the four rooms, there will be three smaller boxes which contain numbers you can view by opening the boxes. When you find it, you'll have to place it in the proper position to get the correct answer and the points. Course 2 -------- This course is the same as the previous one, but the numbers being subtracted can be in the thousandths instead of stopping at the hundredths place value. ====================================================== Fraction Addition & Subtraction (分数のたし算とひき算) ====================================================== ================================ Fraction Addition (分数のたし算) ================================ Course 1 -------- For this course, you have control of a green car in a rather wide maze. There are numerous question mark tiles along the ground, and if you run one over it reveals a number. At the top of the screen is your problem involving fractions, and your job is to fill in the spots in the answer as noted by a ? in a given position. Also with you in the maze though, are other enemy cars which will cause you to lose a life (you have 3 total) if you hit one. When you drive across a number tile, if it is the number you need, press A as you pass over it to fill in the blank. You only need to press the button once though, as the next step you need to fill in will appear immediately. When you fill in the entire answer properly, one of the floor tiles will become a picture of a highway (prior to solving the problem, the tile which becomes the exit appears as a garage door). Drive over it and press A to clear that stage. One last thing to note is that when answering a problem, more often than not you will have to use mixed numbers (a whole number and a fraction together as your final answer). It's simple math in this game, so it shouldn't be too difficult to figure out on your own. Course 2 -------- Unlike the first course which gives you only fractions to add together, you are given mixed numbers as well as fractions to add. These problems are still simple, but a bit more challenging than just dealing with fractions. If you have some grasp of how fractions and mixed numbers work, you should have no problem acing this mode. =================================== Fraction Subtraction (分数のひき算) =================================== Course 1 -------- For this course, you have control of a green car in a rather wide maze.
