CALLING MEGA MAN! CALLING MEGA MAN! COME IN PLEASE! "Mega Man, we need you! We're down to the wire on our-peace-keeping project. We've got to get those last energy crystals or we can't finish it. Dr. Wily is here now, too... Yes... he's finally found his sanity. He knows where the crystals are! They're in the mining worlds, but we can't get to 'em. The robots are running amok and they're destroying everything!" "You've got to get there, Mega Man, and get those crystals! You'll face some pretty mean metal. Expect the worst! Is Rush there with you? Give him a bolt to chew on and tell him it's from us. What's that--we must be getting static-- sounds like you said 'Woof!'" "Mega Man, get to those mining worlds pronto! Grab the crystals and stop whoever's in charge. He's one lunatic guy!" "This is Dr. Light. Over and out!" =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= =~ 3) CONTROLS ~= =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= This section describes the basic controls. Unlimited ammo. Only three shots can be fired on the screen at one time. ------------------ (NE) Needle Cannon ------------------ Received From: Needle Man A slightly edited version of the Arm Cannon. Replace the pellets with needles, and you got this. It does slightly more damage and can be held down to fire continuously. ------------------- (MA) Magnet Missile ------------------- Received From: Magnet Man Magnet Missile fires a homing magnet that hits its target by moving either up or down. Several bosses easily deflect this weapon. ----------------- (GE) Gemini Laser ----------------- Received From: Gemini Man This creates a laser which bounces off of walls at angles and continues to move for several seconds. Its extremely slow speed is what you will probably dislike most about it. ----------------- (HA) Hard Knuckle ----------------- Received From: Hard Man If you thought the Gemini Laser was slow, wait 'til you see this! The Hard Knuckle does move quickly, but it takes a few precious seconds to do so. It may be easier to tackle the enemy head on and punch him with it. ------------- (TO) Top Spin ------------- Received From: Top Man To be blunt, the Top Spin is the most worthless weapon in Mega Man history. It requires you to smack right into the opponent, which is dangerous enough. Another problem is its EXTREMELY varying energy consumption. It's possible *ONE* use can drain the entire bar! Or, it may only use one notch! So, pray and be hopeful. ;P ----------------- (SN) Snake Search ----------------- Received From: Snake Man Snake Search launches a ground-traveling snake that can climb walls to reach difficult targets. Up to three can be fired at one time. ---------------- (SP) Spark Shock ---------------- Received From: Spark Man Nothing special with this weapon; just fires a ball of electricity. ----------------- (SH) Shadow Blade ----------------- Received From: Shadow Man A revised build of the Metal Blade is this. Unlike the Metal Blade, however, it is only usable in three directions instead of six. Despite that, it's still quite nice. It uses very little energy! -------------- (RC) Rush Coil -------------- Received From: N/A Here's Rush in his first appearance! ^_^ "Fire" once to summon Rush in front of Mega Man. Jump on top of Rush to get thrown upward even higher. Of course, this is needed to reach obscure ledges and the like. ---------------- (RM) Rush Marine ---------------- Received From: Shadow Man There are very few places this comes in handy. Rush Marine morphs Rush into a submarine Mega Man can operate. The sub has a cannon just like Mega Man's. It can also jump out of water. ------------- (RJ) Rush Jet ------------- Received From: Needle Man In my opinion, this is the best version of the Rush Jet. It can be maneuvered in any direction you want, unlike the other Mega Man games. Watch the energy meter closely, though! It'd be rather unfortunate to plummet into a pit because you ran out of weapon energy. =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= =~ 5) BOSS STRATEGIES ~= =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= Here are tips on the bosses... <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> <<< [5.1] BOSS ORDER >>> <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> This is my suggested order for taking on the Robot Masters. 1. Hard Man 2. Top Man 3. Shadow Man 4. Spark Man 5. Magnet Man 6. Snake Man 7. Gemini Man 8. Needle Man <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> <<< [5.2] TELEPORTER LAYOUT >>> <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> This is a "map" of the teleporter room you encounter in Dr. Wily's castle. ___ ___ | | | | 1. Needle Man | 1 | | 8 | 2. Magnet Man |___| |___| 3. Gemini Man | | | | 4. Hard Man | 2 | | 7 | 5. Top Man |___| ___ ___ |___| 6. Shadow Man | | | | | | | 7. Spark Man | 3 | | 4 | 5 | | 6 | 8. Snake Man |___| |___|___| |___| <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> <<< [5.3] ROBOT MASTERS >>> <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> -------- Hard Man -------- Recommended Weapon(s): (P) Arm Cannon / (MA) Magnet Missile Receive: (HA) Hard Knuckle If you can manage to fire fast enough, you won't have to worry much about taking any hits. Hard Man's pattern is simple: he fires two Hard Knuckles that attempt to lock-on to your location, then jumps into the air, crashes to the ground, and stuns Mega Man for a couple seconds. That's it! You can ignore the Hard Knuckles hitting you as long as you attack him quickly enough with your weapon. When you see him go up into the air, back off a short distance and shoot so that the weapon hits him as he falls to the ground. This extra damage should be enough to defeat him with little trouble. ------- Top Man ------- Recommended Weapon(s): (HA) Hard Knuckle Receive: (TO) Top Spin Top Man's attack pattern is launching three tops that fly at you simul- taneously after about 1.5 seconds. Quick reflexes and sliding can take care of that problem. Once the tops are gone, Top Man spins and dashes to the other side of the room. During that time, he is invulnerable to whatever you throw at him. When he stops, throw a Hard Knuckle at him, and repeat the process! ---------- Shadow Man ---------- Recommended Weapon(s): (TO) Top Spin Receive: (SH) Shadow Blade, Rush Marine Time to dance for Shadow Man! Simply spin and crash into the Robot Master. Now, assuming your Top Spin doesn't decide to waste all of its energy in one attack, you should be fine... --------- Spark Man --------- Recommended Weapon(s): (SH) Shadow Blade Receive: (SP) Spark Shock The fact the Shadow Blade can be fired at an angle makes this fight even easier. Spark Man's lair is convienently set up for that. Keep shooting! ---------- Magnet Man ---------- Recommended Weapon(s): (SP) Spark Shock Receive: (MA) Magnet Missile Instead of running, Magnet Man opts for jumping around. He launches three Magnet Missiles that travel to the top of the lair and dive bomb down. His other technique is a shield, which causes Mega Man to slowly inch towards him. Slide to stay away. The Spark Shock will rip him apart... --------- Snake Man --------- Recommended Weapon(s): (P) Arm Cannon / (NE) Needle Cannon Receive: (SN) Snake Search This can be a challenge if you're using the Arm Cannon. Stay to the far left, right up against the gate. Pummel away with your weapon! You *should* be able to walk away from this fight as long as you continually hit him through- out the battle. ---------- Gemini Man ---------- Recommended Weapon(s): (SN) Snake Search Receive: (GE) Gemini Laser As the name suggests, Gemini Man starts off with two copies of himself. They run to the right side of the screen and then jump back to the left. Every time you fire, they do! A couple Snake Search shots will eliminate the clone. The real Gemini Man will proceed to jump and shoot Gemini Lasers around the room. The slow speed of the lasers help you dodge them. Nothing too tough here. ---------- Needle Man ---------- Recommended Weapon(s): (GE) Gemini Laser Receive: (NE) Needle Cannon, Rush Jet Evidently, Needle Man requested a larger lair from Dr. Wily to suit his needs... The Gemini Laser makes quick work of Needle Man. This Robot Master tends to be foolish enough to bump into your lasers after they bounce off the wall. So, don't worry if you miss him! <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> <<< [5.4] DOC ROBOTS >>> <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ----------------------------- Metal Man (Spark Man's Stage) ----------------------------- Recommended Weapon(s): (MA) Magnet Missile / (HA) Hard Knuckle As he was in Mega Man 2, Metal Man usually only attacks when you do. With Magnet Missile, aiming is no problem. Fire away until this reincarnated robot esplodes. ----------------------------- Quick Man (Spark Man's Stage) ----------------------------- Recommended Weapon(s): (SN) Snake Search For having such a large exterior, he sure moves fast... Snake Search will be your best bet, although hitting him can be troublesome. If possible, get hit by his boomerangs and not his actual body. Touching his body means you'll die in 4-5 hits. >_< ---------------------------- Air Man (Needle Man's Stage) ---------------------------- Recommended Weapon(s): (MA) Magnet Missile / (SP) Spark Shock Either of the above weapons will work, but Spark Shock does the most damage. Air Man deploys a wall of mini-tornadoes and blows them towards you. Remember, unlike Mega Man 2, you can slide in this game! Precise jumping is important here. Pummel him with Spark Shock once you bypass his tornadoes. ------------------------------ Crash Man (Needle Man's Stage) ------------------------------ Recommended Weapon(s): (HA) Hard Knuckle Unfortunately for you, Hard Knuckle is the only really effective weapon here, and it's the most difficult to hit with. Try your best! When you fire, Crash Man will jump and attack with his Crash Bomber at your spot. Other than that, he just hops all over the place. ----------------------------- Wood Man (Shadow Man's Stage) ----------------------------- Recommended Weapon(s): (NE) Needle Man Wood Man can easily tear Mega Man apart if you're careless. His Leaf Shield is _really_ damaging.... Hold down the Needle Cannon inbetween his leaf attacks, and you should be okay. ----------------------------- Heat Man (Shadow Man's Stage) ----------------------------- Recommended Weapon(s): (SH) Shadow Blade This fight is as nearly as tough as the last one. The only problem here is getting close enough to Heat Man to hit him with the Shadow Blade. Dodge his fire pillars and nail him. Everytime Heat Man takes damage, he teleports to your current position. ------------------------------ Flash Man (Gemini Man's Stage) ------------------------------ Recommended Weapon(s): (NE) Needle Cannon Flash Man seems a helluva lot more difficult than he was in Mega Man 2. :/ Again, hold down the Needle Cannon. His Time Stopper attacks will harm you if you manage to get frozen right in front of him. ------------------------------- Bubble Man (Gemini Man's Stage) ------------------------------- Recommended Weapon(s): (SP) Spark Shock Obviously, you're underwater, so Spark Shock is the natural weapon of choice. Like with the other 'bots, he attacks you when you attack him. Watch out for the spiked ceiling! <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> <<< [5.5] DR. WILY >>> <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ------- Turtles ------- Recommended Weapon(s): (SH) Shadow Blade Despite what you'll probably think at first, the machine at the top is not the target you want to hit. It deploys robotic turtles that swim around the pool. One Shadow Blade takes one out. The further along you get, the faster the turtles move. Currents of water fly out of the vents around the screen, but I doubt they'll pose much of a threat. ------------ Rock Monster ------------ Recommended Weapon(s): (HA) Hard Knuckle Yes...that crazy bastard from the very first Mega Man is back to aggrivate you even more! The Rock Monster enters the room piece by piece from the left side. Try to stay on the ground and jump only when needed. Too much movement, and you're just askin' for trouble. :P When the Rock Monster finishes his reconstruction, his eye opens and fires a few pellets. Punch his out with the Hard Knuckle. You might be able to hit him twice if you're lucky. As he transitions from right to left, he does it piece by piece. But when moving from left to right, the Rock Monster sends a wave of bouncing pieces at you. That's probably the easiest spot to get hit. The damage you receive is negligible, though. ----------- Mega Clones ----------- Recommended Weapon(s): (SN) Snake Search There are three teleporters in this room; each one creates a clone of Mega Man. One of these is the "real" clone you want to hit. These replicas also match whatever weapon Mega Man has equipped, but they can only duplicate the color, not the actual weapon. All they can use are the typical pellet rounds. Fire a few snakes at one clone, and move to another one if you attacked the incorrect figure. ----------- Wily Walker ----------- Recommended Weapon(s): (P) Arm Cannon / (SH) Shadow Blade In the first form, aim at the blue cannon on the bottom of the walker. I find it easiest to fire repeatedly using the Arm Cannon. Once the cannon is gone, Wily appears at the top of his creation. Go underneath, and throw Shadow Blades at him. Unlike most of the other bosses, you can hit Wily as quickly as you want without having to worry about the usual "two-second invincibility." You will probably need at least one E-Tank for this. ----- Gamma ----- Recommended Weapon(s): (SH) Shadow Blade / (TO) Top Spin The first portion is pathetic. Stand underneath Gamma's head and throw some more ninja stars at the little 'bot on top. When half of his life is depleted, Wily appears! Equip Top Spin, hop on Gamma's fist (it appears from the right) to reach the platforms by Wily, and hop on top of Wily while using the Top Spin. You should be able to defeat him in one attack run (hopefully, anyway). =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= =~ 6) PASSWORDS ~= =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= This section lists several passwords for your use.
