BROTHER AGAINST BROTHER! "Cossack to Mega Man! Cossack to Mega Man! Come in, Mega Man!" "Proto Man has gone wild! City Hall and the spaceport have been totally des- troyed and the city's power grid is in shambles. I've never seen destruction on this scale before." "I know you're worried about Dr. Light, but your first duty is to free the city from the grip of Proto Man's robots. I can modify your reactor to give the Mega Buster a little more power, but the rest is up to you. Dr. Light and I had been working on a special project, but it's not finished yet. Maybe if I can get it working, it might give you an edge. "Remember to watch your back Mega Man. Proto Man seems to have become more ruthless than we had thought possible. Good luck." "Cossack out!" =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= =~ 3) CONTROLS ~= =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= This section describes the basic controls. D-Pad -> (Left/Right) Move Mega Man (Up/Down) Climb ladder A -> Jump (Hold + Down) Slide B -> Fire weapon (Hold) Charge Mega Buster Start -> Bring up menu =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= =~ 4) WEAPONS ~= =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= This section is a general overview of Mega Man's weapons. ----------- Mega Buster ----------- Received From: N/A Your starting and most used weapon. Up to three shots can be on screen at once, and it can be charged to deal more damage. ---------- Water Wave ---------- Received From: Wave Man Sends a wave of water on the ground. The most important fact is it cannot be used on anything other than the floor. ----------- Gyro Attack ----------- Received From: Gyro Man The Gyro Attack is wonderful for nailing enemies out of your Mega Buster's reach. The blade can be directed up or down with your D-Pad. You can only move it once, however. ----------- Crystal Eye ----------- Received From: Crystal Man The Crystal Eye is usable in two ways: the big eye and the three smaller eyes. The oversized eye splits upon contact with a wall. It seems the minute ones do not inflict as much harm. ----------- Napalm Bomb ----------- Received From: Napalm Man A fun, bouncy bomb! It explodes after three or so seconds. ----------- Power Stone ----------- Received From: Stone Man Useful, if a bit unwieldy. This weapon fabricates three rocks that rotate and advance outward. Similarily to the Gyro Attack, it's nice for eliminating obscurely placed enemies. ------------ Gravity Hold ------------ Received From: Gravity Man To put it simply, it either blows enemies away or does absolutely nothing. The Gravity Hold shifts gravity and can send foes off screen. Typically, air robots are affected by this. ----------- Charge Kick ----------- Received From: Charge Man Unlike all of the other weapons, this one only operates when Mega Man slides. It surrounds Mega Man in a crescent moon-shaped shield. This barrier can damage enemies while protecting the Blue Bomber at the same time. ---------- Star Crash ---------- Received From: Star Man A variant of Mega Man 2's Leaf Shield. In this case, you can toss the shield whenever you want by pressing B. --------- Rush Coil --------- Received From: N/A RC summons Rush in a spring position. When you jump on him, he leaps into the air. This serves well with reaching high ledges. -------- Rush Jet -------- Received From: Gyro Man RJ summons Rush in his jet transformation. As soon as Mega Man touches the device, it starts off. You can take control of the jet's speed by holding either Left or Right on the D-Pad. What I find incredibly stupid here is that Rush Jet uses energy even when Mega Man isn't on it! If it's moving, it depletes energy! ----------- Super Arrow ----------- Received From: Star Man The Super Arrow is almost a cross between a Rush transformation and a weapon. You can utilize it for traveling quickly across gaps. In some cases, it's effective against bosses! ---- Beat ---- How to Obtain: Collect all "MEGAMANV" plates in the Robot Masters' stages. This summons Beat the bird...you're own portable machine of destruction. Beat will peck at any hostile robot in Mega Man's path. His attacks are powerful. Note that attacking uses energy; simply having Beat around you doesn't cost anything. =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= =~ 5) BOSS STRATEGIES ~= =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= Here are tips on the bosses... <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> <<< [5.1] BOSS ORDER >>> <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> This is my suggested order for taking on the Robot Masters. 1. Gravity Man 2. Gyro Man 3. Crystal Man 4. Napalm Man 5. Stone Man 6. Charge Man 7. Wave Man 8. Star Man If you follow the above and you're having trouble with Crystal Man's stage, go defeat Star Man first. Then use his Star Crash weapon to get past those crystal chutes found throughout Crystal Man's level. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> <<< [5.2] TELEPORTER LAYOUT >>> <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> This is a "map" of the teleporter room you encounter in Dr. Wily's castle. ___ ___ | | | | 1. Gravity Man | 1 | | 8 | 2. Wave Man |___| ___ |___| 3. Stone Man | | | | | | 4. Gyro Man | 2 | | 4 | | 7 | 5. Star Man |___| |___| |___| 6. Crystal Man | | | | | | 7. Napalm Man | 3 | | 5 | | 6 | 8. Charge Man |___| |___| |___| <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> <<< [5.3] ROBOT MASTERS >>> <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ----------- Gravity Man ----------- Recommended Weapon(s): Mega Buster / Star Crash Receive: Gravity Hold Once you get Gravity Man's pattern down, he's a cakewalk. When Gravity Man jumps onto the ceiling, Mega Man lands on the ground, and the reverse is applied. The Robot Master shoots while he does his gravity changes. The key is to fire charged Mega Buster shots as he is transitioning from ground to ceiling or ceiling to ground. If you time it right, the shot will hit him. -------- Gyro Man -------- Recommended Weapon(s): Gravity Hold Receive: Gyro Attack & Rush Jet If you have Gravity Hold with full energy, Gyro Man is the easiest enemy in the game. Use G. Hold every second or so until Gyro Man is dead. If you can't beat him using that weapon, you're pitiful. Really. :) ----------- Crystal Man ----------- Recommended Weapon(s): Gyro Attack Receive: Crystal Eye One thing you'll notice immediately about Crystal Man is that he LOVES to jump around the screen. This actually makes the Gyro Attack even more useful for this fight. Remember when you fire it, you can use Up or Down on the D-Pad to move the blade. ---------- Napalm Man ---------- Recommended Weapon(s): Crystal Eye Receive: Napalm Bomb No problem here... If you're feeling lucky, you can hit Napalm Man with the big Crystal Eye. But, if you decide to split up the ball by hitting it against a wall, you may be able to score multiple hits. Either way, it's easy! His Napalm Bombs can be nasty, if you're careless. What you can do to increase your chances of evading them is intentionally moving far away from him. So, when he fires the bombs, you have enough space to slide out of their path. --------- Stone Man --------- Recommended Weapon(s): Napalm Bomb Receive: Power Stone There's one cheap strategy that makes this a simple battle. Drop a Napalm Bomb under Stone Man right before he lands on the floor after jumping. With that, you don't have to worry about being hit, and it damages him in the process! ---------- Charge Man ---------- Recommended Weapon(s): Power Stone Receive: Charge Kick Because Power Stone isn't exactly the easiest weapon to wield, you might encounter problems against Charge Man. However, you can always hit him by firing the weapon when you're standing right beside him. Yeah, I know, not the safest thing to do, but it works. Charge Man is invincible when he's either a) in his enraged state (brown color), or b) he's doing a charge across the room. -------- Wave Man -------- Recommended Weapon(s): Charge Kick Receive: Water Wave Keep in mind while fighting the Charge Kick makes Mega Man invincible during his slide. So, don't be troubled over whether or not you will suffer damage. The best time to attack is when Wave Man is deploying one of his water spouts through the floor. -------- Star Man -------- Recommended Weapon(s): Water Wave Receive: Star Crash & Super Arrow Star Man's shield is worthless with the Water Wave in hand. The only catch is Star Man can only be hit with it while he's on the floor. After all, you ARE throwing a wave. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> <<< [5.4] PROTO MAN >>> <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ------------ Dark Man 1.0 ------------ Recommended Weapon(s): Mega Buster / Water Wave When the fight begins, Dark Man seems to move unusually slow. Take advantage of this by either using Water Wave or charged Mega Buster shots. You can knock off at least 1/3 of his life before his gas kicks in. Suddenly Dark Man will roll around the room quickly. As one may assume, this makes it quite hard to use charged Buster shots. It's probably best to switch to Water Wave then. ------------ Dark Man 2.0 ------------ Recommended Weapon(s): Mega Buster / Napalm Bomb This version is pretty strange, to say the least. The only movement Dark Man does is running around with his shield activated. That's right, you don't have to dodge any cannon shots! To bypass his shield, you have to hit him when the two plasma shields are not at his left and right sides. Otherwise, anything you throw at him is blocked. It seems that Dark Man moves quick as he suffers more damage. ------------ Dark Man 3.0 ------------ Recommended Weapon(s): Mega Buster This is the toughest of the three so far! Dark Man unleashes his bazooka when he hops into the air and fires several rounds. A lot of sliding will help dodge the shots. One attack you MUST avoid are his three rings. If you happen to touch one, Mega Man is frozen. Although he will eventually "unfreeze" himself, by the time it occurs, you'll already be hit. And Mega Man can't take too many hits before biting the dust. Keep moving and launch charged shots as often as possible. -------------- Dark Man FINAL -------------- Recommended Weapon(s): Mega Buster This is Capcom's attempt to, more or less, roll the three previous versions of Dark Man into one. Again, you can only hit him when the shields are not at his left and right sides. But, he's able to throw his shields off screen and retract them back. His quick salvo of pellets is easy to evade with some quick maneuvering with the slide. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> <<< [5.5] DR. WILY >>> <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> --------- Tower Bot --------- Recommended Weapon(s): Crystal Eye In order to reach the height required to hit his eyes, you must shoot the two tower bases to move them out. Jump on top of the bases, and hit his eyes with the Crystal Eye. Watch out for the small robots it deploys! They can easily knock you off a platform, and you have to start all over again. -------------------- Magical Flying Robot (I know... I'm sooo creative! :P) -------------------- Recommended Weapon(s): Gyro Attack This robot's weak point is its center. Wait until the side flaps open, hop on one of the platforms on the ground, and shoot Gyro Attack blades into the openings. Not too difficult... ---------------- Wily's Spaceship ---------------- Recommended Weapon(s): Mega Buster Throughout this battle, I think it's best to stand somewhere near the center. Obviously, don't get TOO close, or else you'll find Mega Man sitting on the spikes! Wily's ship flies back and forth for several seconds. Then he stops, his ship and the ground move together in an attempt to crunch Mega Man. Now, if you stood near the center, you can easily run left or right to get out of his way. After you do that, shoot a charged Mega Buster at Wily's cockpit. ----------- Wily's Mech ----------- Recommended Weapon(s): Super Arrow Aim for the skull's mouth with the Super Arrow. It does a lot of damage, so this boss will take two seconds to defeat... -------------------------- Return of Wily's Spaceship -------------------------- Recommended Weapon(s): Mega Buster Oh, look! Wily's doing his disappearing routine again! Hoorah! This skirmish is all about speed! If you're too slow, you will be fighting Wily for a loooong time. Every time Wily's ship appears, he drops an energy ball that splits in two and travels along the ground. He also uses a Power Stone-like weapon that retracts. You will likely find the least challenge by standing in a corner and only moving when necessary. Like before, use charged arm cannon shots. =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= =~ 6) PASSWORDS ~= =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= This section lists several passwords for your use.
