THE MYSTERIOUS MR. X! The most talented robot designers from across the globe have come to the 1st Annual Robot Tournament sponsored by the billionare, Mr X. Traveling from Japan, Canada and the United States, the designers have brought their finest cybernetic creations to do battle in a series of tests to see which robot can claim the title of "The Most Powerful Robot In The World." Nothing seems strange as the contest begins, but when the top eight robots enter the arena for the final event, the lights dim and the mysterious Mr. X appears.. "Ladies and Gentlemen... I wish to thank you all for coming to see the final event of my 1st Annual Robot Tournament. As you know, I have kept the final event of the tournament a secret. This event will test the strength, skill and intelligence of each of these fine robots. In fact, it will also test the strength and skill of each one of you. That may seem strange, but I'm sure you will understand when I explain that the final test for these robots is to help me conquer the world!" "Please excuse me and my robots as we teleport out of here, but we have a lot of work to do. But don't worry, you'll see me again soon. Real soon!" =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= =~ 3) CONTROLS ~= =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= This section describes the basic controls. D-Pad -> (Left/Right) Move Mega Man (Up/Down) Climb ladder A -> Jump (Hold + Down) Slide B -> Fire weapon (Hold) Charge Mega Buster Start -> Bring up menu =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= =~ 4) WEAPONS ~= =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= This section is a general overview of Mega Man's weapons. --------- M. Buster --------- Received From: N/A The Mega Buster can be fired in single pellet rounds or charged shots. Charged shots take time to for but deal more damage. -------- Y. Spear -------- Received From: Yamato Man This launches a fast spear head. However, it may go off at an angle when used. This makes it difficult to aim against tiny enemies. -------- W. Storm -------- Received From: Wind Man W. Storm unleashes a small tornado that travels along the floor. --------- B. Attack --------- Received From: Blizzard Man B. Attack is handy for eliminating several weak foes at once. This weapon releases four snowflakes: two move at an angle and two more move directly forward. -------- F. Blast -------- Received From: Flame Man F. Blast appears nearly identical to Heat Man's attack; just toned down. It creates a single pillar of flame. This fire can melt ice barriers (see Blizzard Man's stage for an example). -------- Plant B. -------- Received From: Plant Man Leaf Shield, anyone? Plant B. surrounds Mega Man in...plant thingies. Yeah, thingies. Can block attacks. --------- Knight C. --------- Received From: Knight Man Knight C. fires a mace that retracts to Mega Man after moving a small distance. --------- Silver T. --------- Received From: Tomahawk Man No, Silver T. has no relation to Mr. T! This one fires a tomahawk that travels upward. You might find it useful against high enemies. -------- C. Flash -------- Received From: Centaur Man I never find much help out of this thing. C. Flash affects all on-screen foes. Weak enemies disappear in one attack, while stronger ones require more power to be eliminated. ---- Beat ---- How to Obtain: In four of the Robot Masters' levels, there's a "true" boss and a decoy boss. Both look and fight exactly the same. However, defeating the true boss gives you a Beat part in addition to the Robot Master's weapon. The decoy does not fork over any parts at all. Here's the locations of the true bosses... Tomahawk Man - Right after you demolish the second Met Dispenser, the stage splits in two. Use the Rush Jet Adaptor to enter the lower path. Continue on to the boss for part B. Yamato Man - At one point, you will spot two ladders: one on a high ledge that goes up, and another on the ground that goes down. Use the Rush Jet Adaptor to climb the high ladder. Head on to win part E. Knight Man - Before the decoy boss's gate, there's a cracked block. Activate the Rush Power Adaptor, smash it, and proceed to get part A. Centaur Man - You'll probably find this one yourself. After the robotic squid, you can see a gate to the far right. Again, equip the Rush Jet Adaptor. Defeat Centaur Man for part T. Beat works exactly the same as he did in Mega Man 5. Beat appears along Mega Man's side and pecks at any enemies in his path. The bird's attacks will drain weapon energy. ------------------ Rush Power Adaptor ------------------ Received From: Flame Man The Power Adaptor adds more muscles to the Blue Bomber and enables him to smash open damage blocks to uncover hidden items and places. It can be charged to unleash a powerful punch. The attacks from the Rush Power Adaptor seem to do more damage than the Mega Buster, but the range severly hinders it. Mega Man cannot slide while having this equipped. ---------------- Rush Jet Adaptor ---------------- Received From: Plant Man The Rush Jet Adaptor allows Mega Man to fly a short distance. The weapon meter indicates how much "fuel" is left. Fuel is regenerate as soon as Mega Man lands and stays on the ground. Like the Power Adaptor, Mega Man can't slide with this suit on. --------------- Energy Balancer --------------- How to Obtain: In Tomahawk Man's stage, choose the upper parth at the point when the stage splits. As you continue, you will see a cracked block on the left wall. Use the Rush Power Adaptor to break it. Inside, Proto Man appears and drops off the Energy Balancer. While not necessary, the Energy Balancer helps to save time. When you pick up a weapon energy capsule, the balancer automatically allocates the energy to the weapon with the least amount of energy remaining. This eliminates the need for you to constantly switch weapons when you encounter an energy capsule. =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= =~ 5) BOSS STRATEGIES ~= =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= Here are tips on the bosses... <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> <<< [5.1] BOSS ORDER >>> <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> This is my suggested order for taking on the Robot Masters. 1. Blizzard Man 2. Plant Man 3. Tomahawk Man 4. Yamato Man 5. Knight Man 6. Centaur Man 7. Wind Man 8. Flame Man <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> <<< [5.2] TELEPORTER LAYOUT >>> <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> This is a "map" of the teleporter room you encounter in Dr. Wily's castle. ___ ___ | | | | 1. Yamato Man | 1 | | 8 | 2. Plant Man |___| |___| 3. Knight Man | | | | 4. Centaur Man | 2 | | 7 | 5. Wind Man |___| ___ ___ |___| 6. Tomahawk Man | | | | | | | 7. Flame Man | 3 | | 4 | 5 | | 6 | 8. Blizzard Man |___| |___|___| |___| <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> <<< [5.3] ROBOT MASTERS >>> <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ------------ Blizzard Man ------------ Recommended Weapon(s): M. Buster / F. Blast Receive: B. Attack If you can move yourself out of the snowflakes Blizzard Man uses, you won't find trouble here. The snowflakes direct themselves to Mega Man and can be dodged by sliding. The only other attack B. Man has is his roll. When he rolls, just jump over him! Nothing to it! Let loose with charged Mega Buster rounds inbetween attacks. --------- Plant Man --------- Recommended Weapon(s): B. Attack Receive: Plant B., Rush Jet Adaptor Plant Man has the most simplistic attack pattern... He creates a plant barrier, jumps, and flings the shield upon his landing on the ground. All you have to do is hop over it! As you leap over the shield, fire your B. Attack to harm Plant Man. Lather. Rinse. Repeat. Laugh at Plant Man. ------------ Tomahawk Man ------------ Recommended Weapon(s): Plant B. Receive: Silver T. Unfortunately for you, EVERY hit with Plant B. must count. Otherwise, you will find yourself out of weapon energy. Activate the shield, and touch Tomahawk Man. I don't believe you will really have to worry about taking hits from him since you have to get so close to attack in the first place. ---------- Yamato Man ---------- Recommended Weapon(s): Silver T. Receive: Y. Spear Yamato Man twirls his spear around and throws the head of it at you. Oddly enough, he actually has to run over and pick the thing up. I guess Dr. Wily never bothered to create a retractable spear head for him. :P As you jump over the poor fool, throw a tomahawk at him. Yamato Man also leaps high into the air and rains down with three spear heads. They're quite easy to escape. When he lands, toss another tomahawk at him. ---------- Knight Man ---------- Recommended Weapon(s): Y. Spear Receive: Knight C. With the Y. Spear, Knight Man's main defense is nullified. The Y. Spear can penetrate his shield that normally blocks any incoming attack. So, don't worry! Shoot away and waste your ammo! When Knight Man uses his ball-and-chain attack, the ball is thrown to wherever Mega Man is presently standing. Adjust your position when necessary. ----------- Centaur Man ----------- Recommended Weapon(s): Knight C. Receive: C. Flash Knight C. makes this battle extremely easy. Keep firing, and you can probably take out Centaur Man before he even uses his C. Flash on you. If he does, there's not really anything you can do to get out of it. -------- Wind Man -------- Recommended Weapon(s): C. Flash Receive: W. Storm This is MM5's Gyro Man revisted. C. Flash harms Wind Man regardless of where Mega Man is, making this is the easiest fight in the game. Move around a bit, and unleash the flash when needed. --------- Flame Man --------- Recommended Weapon(s): W. Storm Receive: F. Blast, Rush Power Adaptor The only offensive you have to concentrate on is Flame Man's mini-fire towers. Using W. Storm, your shots will pass right on through the pillars, unlike your other weapons. That saps the challenge of out this skirmish.... <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> <<< [5.4] MR. X >>> <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> --------- Rail Bots --------- Recommended Weapon(s): B. Attack / F. Blast Actually, several of your weapons do decent damage against these two. The twin robots move along fixed rails and drop sharp objects onto Mega Man. The only way they can be harmed is by hitting the circular panels on their sides. Otherwise, the attack is blocked. -------------- Jackhammer Bot -------------- Recommended Weapon(s): Silver T. Silver T. is really your only method of hitting this boss. The robot pounds the wall, causing humongous boulders to come crashing down to the ground. Silver T.'s natural ability to "curve" when fired is important here. Use the curve to hit the robot. --------------- Met Battle Suit --------------- Recommended Weapon(s): B. Attack Since B. Attack spreads out on its own, you can harm the Met without having to leave the ground! ----- Mr. X (or "MY PLAN FOR WORLD DOMINATION HAS FAILD!") ----- Recommended Weapon(s): F. Blast Mr. X operates a spiked robot that swings back and forth while dropping plasma spheres that go off into two when it hits the ground. Stand in a corner, launch the F. Blast, and watch Mr. X reveal his true form! Why is Mega Man surprised Mr. X is Dr. Wily? Or, was the gray, spiky hair not a good enough clue? <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> <<< [5.5] DR. WILY >>> <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> -------- Dino Bot -------- Recommended Weapon(s): Y. Spear In order to reach an adequate height to attack the dinosaur's eyes, you have to ride the platforms it releases from its stomach. Take note that the platforms harm you in NO way. You can touch the spiked underside, get hit by their explosions, and nothing will happen to Mega Man. However, the dino's fireballs will damage you. Ride a platform, shoot a spear head, and repeat! ----------- Roller Mech ----------- Recommended Weapon(s): W. Storm This isn't quite the typical Dr. Wily mech... The boss constantly moves forward through the entire fight, pushing Mega Man back into a corner. To remedy this, shoot at the wheels with your Mega Buster. This pushes the robot back and delays it for a short while. Get up close, and release a flurry of W. Storm tornadoes. --------------------- Dr. Wily (First Form) --------------------- Recommended Weapon(s): Silver T. Despite its rather large size, this boss can be evaded with no trouble. Slide out of its way whenever it jumps. Then fire several Silver T. rounds. It would be damn sad if you actually miss hitting the thing. ;) ---------------------- Dr. Wily (Second Form) ---------------------- Recommended Weapon(s): Silver T. Not too different from the first. You can take it down in no time with the Silver T. --------------------- Dr. Wily (Third Form) --------------------- Recommended Weapon(s): Silver T. Again with the bloody saucer routine... When Wily appears, his spaceship deploys four swirly discs that move in circular motion similar to the Power Stone weapon in Mega Man 5. The Silver T.'s curve enables you to hit him regardless of how high he may be. If you run out of energy for Silver T., try Knight C. instead. =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= =~ 6) PASSWORDS ~= =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= This section lists several passwords for your use.
