INTRODUCTION G0100 =============================================================================== Welcome to 'Millionaire' for the NES, released by Sachen in 1990. The game is a Monopoly clone, and plays almost identical. If you know Monopoly then you will find it very easy to play this game. Else, it is quite easy to get into it and has some decent fun factor when considering this comes from Sachen. Suggestions, comments or errors - email me about it. Enjoy! =============================================================================== 02.) BASICS G0200 =============================================================================== On the main screen you can select who controls who. There are up to four players and they can be controlled by the Computer, any of the four joysticks or nobody at all. As default all four are played by the computer. You need to select at least 2 players to start, either as Computer or Human player. Use the A button to select/confirm and the B button to cancel/reject. Basics: ``````` Every player starts with 7500 dollars. Buying land and paying rent is the main interaction, but there are also special events that will alter your cashflow. Each time you pass the take-off field, 2000 dollars are added to your total. At the start of a turn the player can roll the 12-sided dice to move. Depending on where s/he lands, an event will take part or the next player starts his or her turn. When a player has run out of money they can "impawn" land. If land has more property then it will be sold for more money. If the player does not have money to pay the fee and has nothing more to sell to make up for this, he or she is removed from the game. Having to pay an event fine can reduce your money to 0 but you still continue. The last person to be on the board wins the game. Strategy: ````````` Grab what you can, do not safe up for pricey countries later on the board because you aren't sure if you will land on them, or have enough money then, or simply it was already taken by another player. Even the smallest countries can become big money maker. At the start nearly everything looks pathetic with their 2-3 digit rent prices, but once you start building houses they can really pay back the input. Unlike Monopoly there is no trading here, so you have to deal with what you have and just hope for good numbers and cards. The Club is a huge risk. It looks like it could pay you a lot if you have managed to build it up into a hotel, but there are so often cards that will tear it down so this is pretty useless. =============================================================================== 03.) FAQ G0300 =============================================================================== The main display is the board of the game. It looks like this, with icons instead of words of course: C B A S G A L F G A U W E I U R B N BREAK S I R ! R B A R K FORBIDDEN-ZONE ________________ HOL | | AUT ? | | CHN ITA | | ? ESP | | CAN AIR | | AIR TUR | | USA ! | | JPN WINE | | ? ISR |________________| ROC JAIL B I C D A ? T K M TAKE-OFF L N A E I H O O G S S N R A R N U I R N E O Countries: `````````` Countries make money in the long-run. You first buy the land and then set down houses that will increase the value. Everybody else who comes to visit must pay a toll depending on this status. One can only build one house at a time and after the fourth is placed, the next time you land on this field it is possible to build a hotel which is the maximum of value increase. Commerce: ````````` Airport: The rent for each is $500 each, so if you own four the other person will have to pay $2000. Winery: Works like a country I think, or at least that is how it looks like. Bank: You can buy shares which may or may not increase in value, but could also lose you some money. Sell the shares later. Jail: If you land on this then you simply visit and rest. If you are sent here then you are required to stay in jail for 2 turns and on the third you get out but cannot move yet. Take-Off: This is where you start the game. Every time you pass this field you get a $2000 bonus unless you moved directly across the board to jail. It only counts when you roll enough to get past or fly past it with an event card. Break: Nothing happens here. Forbidden-Zone: If you enter the forbidden zone you are sent to jail. Special: ```````` ! Event ? Event Insurance: You can buy insurance here for $3000. It might seem a lot, but if you pull a fire event then you lose all your houses. A great safety net if you do not feel like rebuilding your empire from scratch. Casino: Bet up to $3000 on a game of Three-card Monte with cups. Find the red ball to win. The winnings are 3.5 of your bet amount so if you bet $100 you get $350 back. Buying/Selling chart: ````````````````````` _____________________________________________________________________________ | Field | Buy | Build| Rent | Sell | | | Land | | 0 | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | Hotel | Land | |---------+------+------+----------------------------------------------+------| | Monaco | 600 | 500 | 20 | 100 | 300 | 900 | 1600 | 2500 | 300 | | Korea | 600 | 500 | 40 | 200 | 600 | 1800 | 3200 | 4500 | 300 | | Thailand| 1000 | 500 | 60 | 300 | 900 | 2700 | 4000 | 5550 | 500 | | Denmark | 1000 | 500 | 60 | 300 | 900 | 2700 | 4000 | 5500 | 500 | | Belgium | 1200 | 500 | 80 | 400 | 1000 | 3000 | 4500 | 6000 | 600 | | Israel | 1400 | 1000 | 100 | 500 | 1500 | 4500 | 6250 | 7500 | 700 | | Turkey | 1400 | 1000 | 100 | 500 | 1500 | 4500 | 6250 | 7500 | 700 | | Spain | 1600 | 1000 | 120 | 600 | 1800 | 5000 | 7000 | 9000 | 800 | | Italy | 1800 | 1000 | 140 | 700 | 2000 | 5500 | 7500 | 9500 | 900 | | Holland | 2000 | 1000 | 160 | 800 | 2200 | 6000 | 8000 | 10000 | 1000 | | Austral.| 2200 | 1500 | 180 | 900 | 2500 | 7000 | 8750 | 10500 | 1100 | | Switzer.| 2200 | 1500 | 180 | 900 | 2500 | 7000 | 8750 | 10500 | 1100 | | Germany | 2400 | 1500 | 200 | 1000 | 3000 | 7500 | 9250 | 11000 | 1200 | | France | 2600 | 1500 | 220 | 1100 | 3300 | 8000 | 9750 | 11500 | 1300 | | England | 2800 | 1500 | 220 | 1200 | 1600 | 8500 | 10250 | 12000 | 1400 | | Austria | 3000 | 2000 | 260 | 1300 | 3900 | 9000 | 11000 | 12750 | 1500 | | China | 3000 | 2000 | 260 | 1300 | 3900 | 9000 | 11000 | 12750 | 1500 | | Canada | 3200 | 2000 | 280 | 1500 | 4500 | 10000 | 12000 | 14000 | 1600 | | USA | 3200 | 2000 | 280 | 1500 | 4500 | 10000 | 12000 | 14000 | 1600 | | Japan | 3500 | 2000 | 350 | 1750 | 5000 | 11000 | 13000 | 15000 | 1750 | | PR Korea| 3500 | 2000 | 350 | 1750 | 5000 | 11000 | 13000 | 15000 | 1750 | | Airport | 2000 | - | - | - | - | - | - | - | 1000 | | Club | 2000 | 1000 | 600 | 2200 | 8000 | 18000 | 25000 | 30000 | 1000 | | Winery | 1500 | 1000 | 350 | 1750 | 5000 | 11000 | 13000 | 15000 | 750 | ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ *You can also sell the houses and hotels. Events: ``````` Get out of jail card: You are not sent to prison. You will have a small red arrow next to your money display. Fly to ...: Fly to the stated country. You will collect $2000 if you fly past the take-off point. Jail: Some events will land you in jail, such as thievery and a fake certificate. Share Price: It will increase in value, or drop. The money icon next to your money display shows if you are holding any stock. Fire: This is horrible. You lose all your houses on every piece of land unless you have fire insurance as indicated by the small thunder icon next to your money display. Wins: All sorts of money wins, like horse racing or lottery. Losses: You may have to pay some fee, like a car repair bill. Tax: You need to pay tax, which is obviously a loss. Clearing Black(?): Not entirely sure what this is meant to say, but for sure is that the Club is lost. This is why I never really bother with the Club in the first place, as this card is pulled quite often. Way too often. =============================================================================== ZZ.)
