Introduction -= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Pachiokun 3 is the third in the pachinko-themed Pachiokun series on the Famicom. In my opinion it is not as overwhelming as the previous title, since you don't need to beat EVERY machine to proceed. There are 15 parlors and a set number of machines need to be cleared in each. Then once you do that, you must solve a sliding panel puzzle to win. It's really not that bad (there is even a code you can use to cheat, if you are into that), so I would suggest giving this one a try if you are new to the series. ***************************************************************************** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -= 3. Overview -= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= =================== General Information =================== When you start the game, you can pick one of three slots to save your game (no passwords this time). The opening scene with King Pachinko will explain that you need to clear the 15 pachinko parlors to beat the game. You will then be on the map. The building you are in front of is King Pachinko's place but you can go talk to him there if needed. The other 15 buildings are the parlors. In each parlor, you only need to clear a certain number of machines (as in, bankrupting the machine of its metal balls). That tally is visible if you press Start in the parlor, but I will list the quotas below. When you go to a machine initially, you will have 100 balls (even if your total tally is more than that). If you run out of balls at the machine, you will walk away (or get a game over screen if that was all you had left). In the northern area of the parlor, you will find a woman behind a counter. Talk to her and she will let you leave the shop. Once you clear enough machines, you will automatically leave the cleared parlor by talking to her. Once you clear all 15 parlors, go back to King Pachinko and he will make you solve a sliding panel puzzle to beat the game. You will see a counter to the side; this is the number of times you can move the panels before you are kicked out and have to try again. You get one move for each machine you cleared (so at least 111 moves), but you can always go back and clear more machines to get more moves. After you complete the puzzle (it is definitely possible in under 111 moves), you will go through the gates and complete the game. It is also a heavily popular form of gambling in Japan, which explains why there are so many of these games on this and other systems! Anyway, the game board has a layout with nails sticking out, which the metal balls bounce off of or fall in between, in order to traverse the board. Also on the board are certain compartments where if a metal ball falls into it, you will receive points. If a ball makes it to the bottom of the board without landing in anything, you lose that ball (and a point). Initially, you start off with 100 balls (points). In this game, on the bottom-right area is a ring-shaped button with a smaller circle inside of it. This is the pressure control for launching the pachinko balls into the game board above. Use the Left/Right buttons to turn the knob, increasing or decreasing the pressure, allowing the metal balls to go shorter/farther with each shot. It is a good idea to continually fire balls while adjusting the pressure so you can have the best idea of what settings you like the most. Personally, I find that the best approach is to subtly move the pressure knob in the bottom-right corner until you start winning, then move it back and forth a couple of notches in that same area to keep the streak going. If you lose the streak, just keep moving the knob around until you hit it again. ***************************************************************************** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -= 5. Secrets/Tips and Tricks -= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= ============================== Automatically Win at a Machine ============================== At the title screen, hold A on both controllers and hit the Reset button. Once the screen is back, let go of the buttons and press B on both controllers. While holding them, press Start on Controller 1. Now, go to any pachinko machine. When you get to the screen where you can say yes/no to playing, hold Select + Start and press A for Yes. When you release the buttons, you will have automatically cleared that machine without even playing it! ================== Skip to the Ending ================== At the title screen, hold A on both controllers are hit the Reset button. Once the screen is back, let go of the buttons and press B on both controllers. While holding them, press Start on Controller 1. Now, wait for the opening scene with King Pachinko. Hold Select + Start and press A until the scene is over.
