Sulpher E-mail: briansulpher@hotmail.com Version 2.1 Dates Written: January 19th to January 21st, 2003 I dedicate this to my Cousin Troy Costello. Another game that you have given me since you sold your NES, and although it is not the greatest game out there, I appreciate it none the less. Just be sure to keep your temper in check before it gets you into serious trouble. Also, for Cougar, Howler, and Koonce. I miss you, and I hope you are living it up in the afterlife as you did in this world. You will always be in my memories, and you will never be forgotten. ----------- Version 1.0 ----------- -submitted guide on 21st of January, 2003 ----------- Version 1.5 ----------- -submitted guide on 23rd of January, 2004 -Altered format -Edited info to be more comprehensive and user friendly ----------- Version 2.0 ----------- -submitted guide on 1st of July, 2004 -Altered format to make it more pleasing to the eye and easier to navigate ----------- Version 2.1 ----------- -Submitted guide on 16th of October, 2005 -I added in Retronintendo and Honestgamers as sites allowed to use my FAQs -Altered the format to make it easier on the eyes of the reader ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------Table Of Contents----------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1) Introduction 2) Baseball 3) BMX Simulator 4) Soccer Simulator 5) Pro Tennis 6) Final Word ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------Introduction--------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1) Well, this game was released back in the early 90's, along with it's brethren Quattro Adventure and Quattro Arcade. These three carts were released on the waning days of the NES, and for then these are poorly executed games. Campy music, terrible graphics, and awful play control for most of the games, I still feel drawn to this cart for some unknown reason. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the first NES FAQ for a game starting with the letter 'Q' on GameFAQs! Seriously, it is! No idea how that makes this special, yet it is! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------Baseball------------------------------------ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) This section will give you the controls, the teams with ratings for them, different rules of this version of baseball, and some strategies. o-------------------o | Pitching Controls | o-------------------o D-Pad...: When you start your pitching motion, holding UP will throw a slow ball, and holding DOWN will throw a fast ball. When the pitch is on it's way to the plate, LEFT and RIGHT can be used to put curve on the ball. SELECT..: Calls up the TIME screen. It gives the option of VIEW TEAM (shows your Players batting stats as well as your pitchers stats), VIEW SCORES (shows scoreboard with inning totals and the batting orders), and NEW PITCHER (gives you option of switching to a new pitcher). START...: Pauses/unpauses the game. B Button: If the opposition has a runner on base, press this to call up the field view. This is done if you think you can pick a player off a base. This can be done up to the point where you release the ball for a pitch. A Button: Starts throwing motion of pitch. o-------------------o | Fielding Controls | o-------------------o D-Pad...: Moves your player around in the direction pressed. It also decides what base to throw to when combined with the A Button. RIGHT will throw to First Base, UP will throw to Second Base, LEFT will throw to Third Base, and DOWN will throw to Home Plate. SELECT..: No apparent use. START...: Pauses/unpauses the game. B Button: No apparent use. A Button: Throws the ball. If it is pressed alone, the throw will go to First Base (see D-Pad section for details on how to throw to specific bases). o------------------o | Batting Controls | o------------------o D-Pad...: Moves your player around the batter box to a position you desire. This can be done even as you swing. SELECT..: Calls up the TIME screen. It gives the option of VIEW TEAM (shows your Players batting stats as well as your pitchers stats), VIEW SCORES (shows scoreboard with inning totals and the batting orders), and PINCH HITTER (gives you option of switching to a new hitter). START...: Pauses/unpause the game. B Button: When used i conjunction with the fllowing direcional pad directions, you will attempt to steal the following bases: UP for second Base, LEFT for third base, and DOWN for home plate. A Button: Swings the bat. o-----------------------o | Base Running Controls | o-----------------------o D-Pad...: When used in conjunction of the B Button, your player will start to run to the following bases: UP for Second, LEFT for Third, and DOWN for Home Plate. START...: Pauses/unpauses the game. B Button: Used in conjunction with the directional pad to past a base. A Button: Used in conjunction with the directional pad to return to the previous base. o--------------o | Team Choices | o--------------o ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ African All-Stars ~~~ (7.5/10) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Batter Hand Batting Average Homeruns Speed 1 Nelson Right .243 16 5 2 Joshua Right .268 19 5 3 Robert Left .341 12 6 4 Ken Left .228 5 4 5 Jarobi Left .269 6 7 6 Moses Right .148 9 5 7 Reg Right .292 12 7 8 Will Right .224 11 7 9 Anwar Switch .303 9 4 PH Luke Right .278 3 4 PH Ed Right .227 9 5 PH Samual Left .202 19 6 Pitcher Hand Earned Batting Average Speed Curve 1 Kriss Left 4.23 14 Right 2 Mark Right 3.31 15 Right 3 Steve Right 3.85 9 Both 4 Said Right 3.13 12 Left All in all, a solid choice. You may wish to substitute Luke into the game for the near useless Moses. Also, you can gamble with Samual if you have a good opportunity to knock some runs in as he has the most power of any one (although is average is horrid). Good all round speed on this team (albeit no speed demons). All in all, a solid team that is a great choice for a player of any skill level. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ Berlin Brewers ~~~ (5.5/10) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Batter Hand Batting Average Homeruns Speed 1 Hans Right .333 15 5 2 Boris Right .243 9 6 3 Otto Right .248 11 7 4 Markus Right .259 13 4 5 Johann Left .283 9 2 6 Heinz Right .227 2 5 7 Karl Right .139 0 3 8 Franz Right .243 0 3 9 Ludwig Right .245 16 5 PH Stefan Right .343 12 1 PH Baron Left .270 9 7 PH Lothar Switch .311 6 5 Pitcher Hand Earned Batting Average Speed Curve 1 Jurgen Right 3.11 9 Both 2 Klaus Right 3.68 14 Both 3 Dieter Right 4.10 11 Left 4 Rudi Right 3.96 8 Right The Brewers appear to be offensive powerhouses when you look at their first half of the starting line-up (first five combine for 57 Homeruns), but the second half tells another story (three of the four combine for 2 Homeruns). The speed of the first half of the line-up is superior in speed as well. Some of these problems can be cured by replacing the 0 Homerun guys (Karl and Franz) with Baron and Lothar for more speed as well as some well rounded batting stats. Even with these changes however, you will still struggle as their pitching is bad, even for a game like this where all pitching is somewhat bad. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ Boston Graduates ~~~ (4.5/10) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Batter Hand Batting Average Homeruns Speed 1 Eddie Right .234 12 3 2 Wilson Left .282 2 5 3 Mark Right .312 4 6 4 Wally Right .309 9 3 5 Mitch Right .298 13 2 6 Dave Switch .242 15 4 7 Peter Left .289 7 7 8 Ozzy Right .254 0 1 9 Rick Left .298 6 4 PH Eric Right .354 12 3 PH Dick Right .234 10 5 PH Laurie Right .288 4 7 Pitcher Hand Earned Batting Average Speed Curve 1 Vince Right 3.67 9 Both 2 Earnie Right 4.23 12 Left 3 Julian Left 3.11 14 Both 4 Doc Right 4.00 8 Right The Graduates are a truly awful baseball team that suffers in power, speed, and pitching. Definitely substitute out Ozzy to bring in Dick or Lauire. Avoid these guys like the plague. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ Hawaiian Volcanoes ~~~ (5.5/10) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Batter Hand Batting Average Homeruns Speed 1 Casey Left .244 9 5 2 Ross Right .284 24 3 3 Thomas Right .283 2 4 4 Cecil Right .253 17 5 5 Joe Left .273 1 5 6 Ted Right .136 0 5 7 Marty Right .303 1 6 8 Omo Right .272 9 7 9 Micky Right .287 6 2 PH Lee Left .317 14 1 PH Homer Right .196 1 5 PH Stan Right .293 9 4 Pitcher Hand Earned Batting Average Speed Curve 1 Brady Right 3.58 15 Both 2 Rock Right 3.56 13 Both 3 Elvin Right 3.98 15 Both 4 Del Left 3.22 9 Both The Volcanoes are belwo average in batting, their speed is average, but their pitching staff is absolutely astounding. Their bench is pretty awful as well, so you will need to pitch incredibly well to win. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ Houston Rockets ~~~ (6/10) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Batter Hand Batting Average Homeruns Speed 1 Brad Right .283 9 3 2 Dave Right .323 28 3 3 Han Right .302 15 2 4 Moe Left .157 9 1 5 Chip Right .254 4 5 6 Ben Right .283 3 5 7 Simon Right .262 12 4 8 Rich Switch .258 11 6 9 Billy Right .293 8 5 PH Tony Right .303 7 6 PH Chuck Right .143 6 4 PH Linus Right .249 4 2 Pitcher Hand Earned Batting Average Speed Curve 1 John Right 4.22 12 Both 2 Morris Left 4.11 14 Both 3 Downy Left 4.10 13 Left 4 Stan Right 3.46 7 Right The Rockets are a slow team that end up falling just short of greatness. they have enough power, average, and a decent enough bench (be sure to sub in Tony for Moe in the clean up spot). Their pitching is also a little crappy, but again that is not a huge deal in this game. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ London Royals ~~~ (9.5/10) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Batter Hand Batting Average Homeruns Speed 1 Terry Right .343 19 6 2 Kevin Right .211 9 5 3 Wayne Left .302 7 5 4 Robert Right .243 12 6 5 Trev Right .267 17 4 6 John Right .199 30 7 7 Reg Switch .178 5 5 8 Mick Right .243 11 5 9 Wills Right .278 9 6 PH Chris Left .266 2 7 PH Frank Left .321 14 3 PH Albert Right .288 15 6 Pitcher Hand Earned Batting Average Speed Curve 1 Rod Right 3.11 14 Right 2 Chuck Right 4.02 8 Left 3 Andy Left 3.78 9 Both 4 Vic Right 2.89 11 Left The Royals are unbelievably fast at such a consistent rate across the whole team (lowest is 3, which is off the bench). The pitchers are of so so quality, but your speed should be enough to bail you out of any serious problems. The icing on the cake for these guys is the most prolific slugger in the game, which is John with THIRTY round-trippers to his credit. Great team that is often used by yours truly. Of course, they are so highly rated as the programmers of this game ARE from England after all! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ Los Anglese Limelights ~~~ (5/10) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Batter Hand Batting Average Homeruns Speed 1 Matt Switch .255 19 2 2 Bob Right .267 14 5 3 Walter Right .284 1 4 4 Bud Right .327 7 6 5 Chris Right .283 6 7 6 Art Right .273 11 7 7 Melvin Left .283 19 5 8 Howard Right .291 3 3 9 Frazer Right .321 1 1 PH Luke Right .289 13 4 PH Stef Switch .249 9 4 PH Cleve Right .240 7 5 Pitcher Hand Earned Batting Average Speed Curve 1 Dwayne Right 3.24 15 Right 2 Sean Right 3.73 6 Left 3 Arny Left 4.11 9 Left 4 Stacey Right 3.71 12 Left The Limelights are an average team caught in a league where all the other teams have better stats in one other category. You can improve your hitting by putting Luke in for Frazer so your power and speed get a boost. Avoid these guys unless you enjoy a struggle using the underdog. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ Mexico City Sombreros ~~~ (6.5/10) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Batter Hand Batting Average Homeruns Speed 1 Tomas Right .305 25 4 2 Juan Right .256 12 3 3 Franco Left .270 3 4 4 Carlos Right .293 13 1 5 Miguel Left .282 10 2 6 Tito Right .290 0 6 7 Pepe Right .169 1 7 8 Pedro Right .303 5 3 9 Jose Right .283 14 5 PH Jamie Right .306 2 6 PH Pablo Right .243 9 2 PH Marco Left .283 1 2 Pitcher Hand Earned Batting Average Speed Curve 1 Rico Right 3.66 15 Right 2 Julia Right 4.10 14 Both 3 Paco Right 3.57 9 Right 4 Manuel Right 3.11 12 Right The Sombreros (gee, that is not too racist) give you a few players who excel in each category, a few who are average in most categories, and then almost everyone else suck in all categories. This means that you can win easily with this team, but only if your stars are hitting well. Otherwise, you will likely get humbled pretty damn fast. A choice for the advanced player. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ Moscow Bears ~~~ (5.5/10) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Batter Hand Batting Average Homeruns Speed 1 Boris Left .223 14 5 2 Mikail Right .284 23 4 3 Igor Right .238 13 6 4 Ilya Right .306 11 3 5 Joseph Right .342 9 7 6 Ivan Switch .280 1 2 7 Peter Right .159 1 5 8 Alexi Right .245 5 6 9 Len Right .263 0 7 PH Edward Right .343 11 7 PH Uri Left .303 7 5 PH Rudolf Right .224 9 4 Pitcher Hand Earned Batting Average Speed Curve 1 Lech Right 2.99 11 Both 2 Vlad Right 4.06 15 Right 3 Karl Right 3.14 9 Left 4 Russ Right 3.21 7 Both The Bears are not a very good team. Although the first half of their line-up has good power and speed, the second half is an embarassment. Substitute in your bench for Ivan, Peter, and Len to shore up the crappy bottom half of the batting order. The pitching is fairly awful as well, including only right handers to throw for you. Avoid unless you want a bit of a challenge. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ New York Knockouts ~~~ (8.5/10) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Batter Hand Batting Average Homeruns Speed 1 Todd Left .234 12 3 2 Bart Right .303 19 5 3 Ed Right .234 17 7 4 Joe Right .287 9 4 5 Bill Switch .223 14 6 6 Ted Left .194 9 5 7 Marvin Right .207 16 2 8 Mitch Right .323 6 1 9 Skip Switch .309 10 2 PH Joe Right .299 12 6 PH Mike Right .271 17 4 PH Homer Left .311 4 3 Pitcher Hand Earned Batting Average Speed Curve 1 Tommy Right 3.77 10 Both 2 Sly Right 4.55 8 Left 3 Scott Left 2.98 12 Right 4 Emilio Right 4.11 9 Both The Knockouts are a superbly powerful team, but they do have flaws. They could use a little more speed (sub Mike and Joe in for Mitch and Joe) for the best line-up you can get. The pitchers are slightly below average, but your great power should keep you far enough ahead in the game. Excellent choice for any player. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ Paris Concordes ~~~ (7/10) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Batter Hand Batting Average Homeruns Speed 1 Henri Right .243 6 5 2 Jean Left .322 4 5 3 Paul Right .292 8 7 4 Pierre Right .204 11 3 5 Luc Switch .198 19 6 6 Claude Right .276 14 7 7 Marc Right .167 8 2 8 Morris Right .303 13 1 9 Raoul Left .234 6 5 PH Alain Right .312 9 6 PH Michel Left .267 16 7 PH Eric Right .289 21 5 Pitcher Hand Earned Batting Average Speed Curve 1 Sasha Left 3.11 9 Both 2 Joe Right 3.56 14 Both 3 Andre Left 2.94 8 Right 4 Richard Right 4.11 15 Both The Concordes have an average batting line-up, that has an above average bench backing them up. Substitute out Pierre, Marc, and Morris for your three bench players to boost the line-ups speed and power. Their pitching is among the best in the game, which can be the difference between a win and a loss in a close game. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ Peking Dragons ~~~ (6.5/10) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Batter Hand Batting Average Homeruns Speed 1 Chen Right .203 14 5 2 Wong Right .311 12 3 3 Ton Left .282 10 2 4 Tang Left .268 11 5 5 Sabg Left .194 7 4 6 Tung Right .322 4 1 7 Lee Right .313 3 6 8 Gragon Right .244 1 5 9 Ken Right .263 2 5 PH Taun Right .343 11 3 PH Selwyn Right .273 4 6 PH Fu Right .300 9 7 Pitcher Hand Earned Batting Average Speed Curve 1 Wen Right 4.11 16 Both 2 Walter Right 3.22 14 Right 3 Wang Right 2.96 9 Both 4 Chu Left 3.78 12 Both The Dragons offer up an average batting line-up for you to use. Sub Fu in for Tung, and the line-up improves drastically. Their pitching is top notch however, but this does not mean a whole lot since offense is what wins games in this Baseball game. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ Roman Centaurs ~~~ (6/10) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Batter Hand Batting Average Homeruns Speed 1 Toni Right .243 12 5 2 Pepe Right .223 16 4 3 Paulo Left .303 11 3 4 Benito Right .199 9 6 5 Luigi Right .206 19 7 6 Gino Switch .234 18 2 7 Al Switch .287 13 1 8 Leo Right .283 12 7 9 Marco Right .303 16 5 PH Angelo Left .329 12 3 PH Franco Right .293 6 5 PH Julius Left .256 15 4 Pitcher Hand Earned Batting Average Speed Curve 1 Don Right 3.84 14 Right 2 Louis Right 4.34 9 Left 3 Rocky Right 2.82 6 Left 4 Enzo Left 4.11 13 Left The Centaurs have an incredible power rating overall (only two of their guys have less than 10 homeruns!), but they pay for this with a lack of speed. Their pitching is nothing special either. However, their one great strength will pull them through more often than you think, so they make an alright pick. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ Sydney Boomerangs ~~~ (7/10) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Batter Hand Batting Average Homeruns Speed 1 Jason Right .256 4 5 2 Mike Right .283 19 6 3 Peter Switch .222 12 5 4 Tim Right .195 7 4 5 Warren Right .306 9 6 6 Scott Right .313 17 7 7 John Switch .243 5 7 8 Bob Right .245 1 5 9 Greg Right .273 12 7 PH Alan Right .343 1 6 PH Norman Right .228 3 4 PH Danny Right .301 9 6 Pitcher Hand Earned Batting Average Speed Curve 1 Bruce Right 3.78 14 Right 2 Pat Right 3.65 15 Right 3 Les Left 3.57 12 Both 4 Toby Right 3.56 3 Both The Boomerangs have to be the most boring team on offense, as they will just go three up three down a lot. However, their great speed will help when they get base runners, and on defense it will serve them well. Their pitching is the absolute best in the game, with the possible exception of the Volcanoes. Pick this team if you pitch extremely well, and you want the score to stay realistic to real baseball. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ Tokyo Bullets ~~~ (8/10) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Batter Hand Batting Average Homeruns Speed 1 Shiro Right .202 19 5 2 Fuji Left .254 15 3 3 Kato Right .237 0 3 4 Yoshi Right .193 20 2 5 Vic Right .178 12 5 6 Wes Right .243 11 4 7 Jacky Right .278 3 5 8 Sun Switch .303 19 1 9 Ken Right .199 11 6 PH Mike Right .248 11 2 PH Chen Right .295 6 3 PH Wei Right .340 24 5 Pitcher Hand Earned Batting Average Speed Curve 1 Joe Right 3.94 7 Left 2 Lu Left 3.45 13 Left 3 Pang Right 2.94 12 Both 4 Suki Right 4.11 9 Right The Bullets bring some incredible power to the table, and you can remove the dud from the line-up by substituting Wei (.340 and 24 HR) for Kato (.237 and 0 HR). The pitching staff is average, and the only serious drain on this team is there slightly slower deameanor (a lot fo runs will come from blasts anyway). Good pick overall for any player, but better for the expert. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ Toronto Maples ~~~ (3/10) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Batter Hand Batting Average Homeruns Speed 1 David Left .255 11 1 2 Rene Right .288 12 4 3 Alan Right .321 19 5 4 Ron Right .188 0 2 5 Jim Right .159 2 2 6 Mike Right .254 2 5 7 Terry Switch .282 1 6 8 Keith Switch .143 9 5 9 Milton Left .268 12 3 PH Barney Right .263 14 7 PH Steve Right .226 1 4 PH Pierre Right .233 7 2 Pitcher Hand Earned Batting Average Speed Curve 1 Dusty Right 4.23 7 Left 2 Ray Left 3.95 9 Both 3 Josh Right 3.65 9 Right 4 Pat Right 3.22 12 Both The Maples are by far the worst team around. They have the worst player in Ron, and the whole line up has no great offensive player to call upon to help you out. The pitching staff is the second worst in the game, and this will not help your lack of offensive punch. Only for the brave who believe the are the greatest at this game. o----------------------------------o | Changed Rules From Real Baseball | o----------------------------------o -There are no force outs at second base, third base, and home plate when the bases behind the runner are full. The same applies to a caught fly ball, as you have to tag the person rather than throw to the base behind them to get them out. -There are 10 Innings as opposed to the normal 9 Innings. o------------o | Strategies | o------------o -When you make a hit, only go to first base. The computer is just viscious when it comes to getting you out if you are between bases. -Do not bother trying to steal bases as no one is fast enough in your line-up to do so. -When fielding a fly ball, you do not follow the shadow, but you will have to try and follow the ball as it curves in the air. It tends to curve away from the foul line of whichever half of the field the ball was hit to. -When the opposition gets a hit in play, do not be afraid to try and throw them out at first. Many players are so slow that they can not leg out the hit. -When the opposition has a couple base runners, try to watch the base runner diagram on the bottom right of the screen. Use this to throw to a base where you can make an out. This wil lessen the offensive onslaught you would normally face. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----------------------------BMX Simulator---------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) This section will give you controls, difficulty settings, and strategies so you will bike your way to victory with ease. o----------o | Controls | o----------o D-Pad...: UP and DOWN have no bearing on the controls of your racer. If you are good enough to just finish these course, and nevermind winning, you have my respect. o------------o | Strategies | o------------o -When you are cornering, let off the pedaling (the A Button) so you will not turn too slow and ride into a wall. This becomes essential as you progress through the game. -When approaching a slope, be sure to hit it straight on, or else you may be forced off the side of it to end up having to back track some to get back there. -If you enter a skinny path area with your opponents riding ahead of you, slow down to follow them until a proper passing area presents itself. Slowing down will cost you less time than wiping out from running into the back of their BMB bike. -In a tw player game, you can ride close together to keep the computer from passing you so you will always finish 1st and 2nd. This is a strategy for expert riders because of the great control needed to do it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------Soccer Simulator-------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) This section will give controls, team evaluations, play modes, and strategies to make your trip to World Cup champion much easier. o---------o | Offense | o---------o D-Pad...: Pressing a direction will move your character in the corrseponding direction. They have great speed, fast shooting, quick passing, and a gret goalie. A definite pick for anyone who wants to have some advantage on the opposition. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ Brazil ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ These guys are on par with their fellow South American team of Argentina. Brazil actually shoots a little better then Argentina, they are slightly less talented at passing, speed, and goaltending. Still an awesome choice for team to use. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ England ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ England is a good passing and shooting nation. However, they suffer from a lack of speed, as well as a Goalie who seems to fall asleep on long shots. Pick these guys if you have become too good with the top tier teams. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ France ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The French are by far the worst team in the game. They pass poorly, shoot terribly, their Goalie sucks, and their speed is just laughable. Take them if you want an extreme challenge of being outclassed by all your opponents. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ Holland ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The third best team in the game, they can match the top two in speed and passing. Theur Goalie is just slightly less than the South American clubs, and their shot accuracy is about the only major downgrade from the above two mentioned teams. The best squad to pick if you want to play out of Europe, and just a solid choice overall. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ Russia ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Surprisingly not good, the Russians have only medium skills in all categories. They shoot, pass, run, and goaltend with adequate ability, but not at a great level. Pick them if you want to play a slower pace of game with a well-rounded team. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ U.S.A. ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Surprisingly decent, the U.S.A. have medium skills in all categories. If you are looking for the fairest match-up around, pit them against the Russians to see a straight up solid match. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ West Germany ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ These guys are the bottom of the top teams. They rank ahead of U.S.A. and Russia in skills, but they can not compare to Holland in skill level. Despite this, they are still a solid choice for any level of player. o------------o | Play Modes | o------------o ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ One Player Single Game ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ -This how to play a single exhibition match with any team you want to control, versus any team of your choice. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ One Player Competition ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ -This will be your path to the World Cup. It is set-up in Single Elimination style of play (no second chances). You will start by picking your team, and the computer will then assign your opponent. If you win, the next opponent in the line will be assigned, and you will go on like this till you reach the chamionship game! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ Two Player Game ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ -You and your friend will both pick a team before squaring off in a battle to the death! Or just to see who can score more goals than their opposition (either way will work). o------------o | Strategies | o------------o -Use your pass when you see an opponent approaching. if you wait too long, they will clog your passing lane, and then slide tackle the ball of you. -When you get into the 18 yard box, try to come in on an angle from the corners of it to shoot at the far side of the net. This is a sure-fire way to fill the net full of goals. -When you have to defend a Penalty Shot, you will need to either guess at which direction to go, or you can try and cath which way they are going to kick the ball. Watch for which location (left, middle, right) they choose, and immediately choose a level to defend (bottom, middle, top) so you will jump to that side. This will give you a 33 % chance of stopping the shot, as opposed to the 11 % chance you normally have. -Try to avoid using the slide tackle in your crease because it will often result in your opponent getting a Penalty Shot. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------Pro Tennis----------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) This section will offer controls and straegies for you to become the Tennis Champion. o----------o | Controls | o----------o D-Pad...: Pressing a direction will move your character in the corrseponding direction. A Button: When hit properly, this will cause the ball to dive. o------------o | Strategies | o------------o -Try to hit away from your opponents position. This will not only cause the ball to often get you points, it will also make your opponent run it down. If they get to it, you will still hold the advantage of having a rather open court to hit at as they attempt to return form the corner you chased them into. -If your opponent hits a lob (this results from mistiming your swing), charge the net just as your opponent's lob is falling into range to smash the ball down the throat of your opponent. -Remeber that if the ball hits your body, that counts as your hit, so try and keep the ball to one side of yourself as it is VERY easy to get pegged in this poorly programmed game. -Whenever a shot looks like it might be out of play, go behind the line to get ready to play the ball when it hits the ground. If it is out, you will get the point, but if it is in, you are all ready to play it. -Never give up on a play because you never know what you can reach, and how it might change your momentum (especially in a two player match). If it appears you are done, a second player may just stop paying attention and end up being the victim on the play because of this. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------Final Word----------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6) As is the usual, this walkthrough is copyright property of Brian P. In case you could not tell by the guide, Baseball is the only game here that is truly worth a look, and even only in two player mode. Enjoy the games you choose, as they have been fun for me in the past. Remember that the quality of the games do not dictate the fun level, but rather how well you play them, usually meaning two player is a must for the best experience possible! However, it can be fun to run the score up on the hapless computer sometimes, as some days just require that level of unfairness! :)
