===================================DISCLAIMER================================== I have decided not to allow websites other than Gamefaqs (www.gamefaqs.com), IGN (faqs.ign.com) & Gamespot (www.gamespot.com) to host my FAQs from now on. Please don't ask, because I will not grant permission. It's just that too many sites don't keep their version of my FAQ up to date which makes for a lot of hassle in my mailbox. So if anyone sees this FAQ on any site other than those mentioned above, please let me know and I will take care of the situation, thanks. Just to make things crystal clear for some people, this FAQ is not to appear anywhere at the following URLs: http://www.cheatcc.com http://www.cheatindex.com This document Copyright 2004,2017 Daniel Engel =============================================================================== Tokkyuu Shirei Soul Brain [aka: Shatterhand] FAQ November 30, 2017 Daniel (DEngel) Engel dan.engel.2017 [AT] gmail [DOT] com ############################################################################### (A) TABLE OF CONTENTS ############################################################################### Table of Contents (A) This Table of Contents (B) Introduction (C) Controls (D) Items (E) Tips (F) Walkthrough (G) Experimental ############################################################################### (B) INTRODUCTION ############################################################################### Tokkyuu Shirei Soul Brain is the japanese version of a game that's also known as Shatterhand. Although the two versions of the game have different graphics for some of the characters [ie: your character in Shatterhand is just a regular guy in a vest, while your character in Tokkyuu Shirei Soul Brain wears a robotic suit] and items, the gameplay is identical between them. Although the game starts out quite easy it ends up getting very hard in the final few stages. ############################################################################### (C) CONTROLS ############################################################################### The controls for this game are very simple, and are as follows: Dpad - Move your character. A - Jump [also used to jump off walls]. B - Attack. Start - Pauses the game. ############################################################################### (D) ITEMS ############################################################################### Alpha - One of two items that you can collect to create a bot. Beta - One of two items that you can collect to create a bot. P - Points, the large ones are worth 200 points and the small are worth 50 points. You can spend the points on special platforms to regain lost health [+], power up your punches [P] or get an extra life [EX]. Points are replaced with coins in Shatterhand. Point Generator - Looks like a white square with a letter P or q on it. Punch it repeatedly to get a lot of points. This item is replaced with a bag of money in Shatterhand. ############################################################################### (E) TIPS ############################################################################### Once you collect a combination of three alpha or beta items a bot is created that fight with you until it takes too much damage. These bots are very helpful so try to keep them alive as long as possible. The bots that you can get and their alpha/beta combos are listed below. Alpha, alpha, alpha = Plasma bot - Fires a diagonal, close range plasma pulse that reaches the front and back. Alpha, alpha, beta = Laser stream bot - Fires a diagonal stream of lasers ahead of you, crouch to change the angle of the laser a little. Alpha, beta, alpha = Sword bot - Swings a sword directly in front of it. Alpha, beta, beta = Bounce bot - Fires shots that bounce off all objects. Beta, beta, beta = Mine bot - Fires mines forward at its target that explode on contact. Beta, beta, alpha = Flamethrower bot - Uses a flamethrower when you HOLD the attack button, otherwise does nothing. Beta, alpha, beta = Boomerang bot - Fires shots that return to the bot unless you move. Then the shots fly around until the bot catches them. Beta, alpha, alpha = Sticky bot - Fires shots forward at close range that quickly rise straight up. These shots travel along anything that they touch [ie: walls, floor, ceiling]. The boxes that contain the alphas and betas are always the same, BUT the contents are random. Sometimes you will find an alpha, other times you will find a beta. However it doesn't make a difference because you can punch the alpha to change it into a beta and vice-versa. Also if you are able to collect the same combination of alpha/betas twice you will get an extremely powerful gun instead of a bot. The gun has unlimited ammo, but you can only use it for a short length of time so kill as much as you can before it reverts back to your bot. You are invincible while you have this gun BUT, for each "hit" that you take you get less time before the gun turns back into your bot. Also you CAN use it on bosses if you are fast enough, so be sure to try. In Shatterhand the gun is replaced with a robotic suit that performs the same attack. ############################################################################### (F) WALKTHROUGH ############################################################################### Bricklayer J. Gastronomy ====== Area A ====== Punch the enemies to your right and punch open the pair of boxes for some points and an alpha/beta. Punch the barriers to get rid of them, then break open the box for another alpha/beta. Attack the enemy that's scaling the wall before punching through both barriers, then spend some points on the platform if you need the health. Otherwise punch some more enemies as you open the next box for some points. Destroy the pod and the enemies that it generates, then punch the box below you once. Sometimes this box has a grenade in it, at other times it has a point generator. If it's a grenade then run like hell, but if it's a point generator then keep throwing punches to get a mass of points. Drop to the ground and kill a group of enemies as you head right, then punch through the barrier and kill another enemy. Bust open the box to find your third alpha/beta, which will grant you some form of bot when you collect it [if you already picked up the other two alpha/betas earlier in the area]. Head right and kill the pair of enemies before destroying the barrier, then kill the pod and it's spawn before dropping past the box below [it has a grenade inside]. Kill the pod below and use the platform if you need the health, otherwise break open the box for an alpha/beta. Kill the two large enemies below [they move pretty slowly] and head right to the wall, then jump off the wall to get over it. Punch through the barrier and kill the enemies that come from the pod as you destroy the barrier up ahead. Jump to the fence and press up to grab it, then kill the large enemy and the enemies that are coming from the nearby pod. Kill any small enemies that get near you as you take out the large enemy nearby, then take out the pod below and grab an alpha/beta from the box. Hug the right wall as you fall down the shaft and punch the box for another alpha/beta. Finally drop down and stand on the platform to your right to be warped to the boss for this area. ---- Boss ---- The boss in this area has a few different attacks at his disposal. First of all he will take a hard swing at you if you're close to him for too long, so try to punch him once or twice at any given time. Any larger a combo and you'll risk getting hit. The boss also fires a blast from his gun at the ceiling. This shot then splits into a falling spread of shots once it hits the ceiling. Finally the boss's third attack involves him first hanging off the wall. At this point he fires two shots that travel in opposite directions around the outline of the room. These shots are easily jumped though, so you shouldn't worry about them. Otherwise just use your bot as much as you can until it gets destroyed, then finish off the boss with your punches [while remembering to keep your combos short so you don't get hit]. After the battle you are left to choose which of the next five areas you wish to play next. I will be starting with the top left area. ====== Area B ====== Head right and jump over the steam, then crouch and punch the turret. Jump and punch out the shield enemy, then jump the steam and kill another shield enemy on the conveyors. Jump the steam as you destroy a pair of turrets, then jump more steam and carefully destroy the next turret. The rightmost box has a grenade in it so ignore that one. The middle box has a point generator and the left box has an alpha/beta. Jump the steam and kill the gunner, then work your way past the steam and conveyors before killing another gunner. Collect some points from the left box and an alpha/beta from the right one, then carefully kill the gunner and the larger enemy behind him. The big guy punches you if you stay close to him for two long so keep your combos short. He also throws bombs at you so watch out for them too. Head right after the battle to reach the next part of this area. Ignore the box [it has a grenade inside] and drop to the conveyors below, then take out the large enemy and drop farther down. Carefully jump over the lava and destroy the pod, then drop down and kill a pair of large enemies. Drop down and cross more lava before dropping to the conveyor below, then open the box for an alpha/beta. Quickly kill the pod ahead of you and ignore the box above as it has a grenade inside. Head right across the conveyors and cling to the fence as you destroy another pod, then kill a large enemy and ignore the next box. Kill the pod and large enemy and use the platform if you need the health, otherwise ignore the next box as you continue right. Kill another large enemy and pod before collecting an alpha/beta from the box on your left. Head right and kill another pod before jumping from the fence and killing a pair of enemies on the next fence. Head right and go to the bottom right corner if you want to spend some points and power up your attacks. Take an alpha/beta from the box and use the platform above to warp to the boss. ---- Boss ---- This boss hangs off the wall and throws an arcing triple-shot that's easily avoided. His body flashes briefly before he charging to the opposite wall, so watch out for that. Otherwise just let loose with your bot until it dies and finish the job with your punches. After the battle you get to choose which area to play next. I will be playing Area C, which is in the top right corner. ------ Area C ------ Head right and kill a trio of enemies, then duck the gunfire from the next enemy and carefully kill him with a crouching punch. If you somehow have points by now you can spend them to power up your attacks on the platform here, otherwise break open the nearby box for an alpha/beta and kill the gunner. Kill the running enemy and another gunner up ahead, then break open the right box and avoid the grenade. Punch the next box for another alpha/beta before heading right, then kill a pair of gunners as you get another alpha/beta from the box. Kill the enemies to your right and use the platform if you need the health, then kill a gunner and go right to the next part of this area. Break the box open for some points and kill the flying enemy, then kill a shield enemy to your right and open the box for an alpha/beta. Open the box on your right for either a grenade or point generator, then open the next box to find an alpha/beta. Kill the pod and flying enemy up ahead and use the platform if you need health, then kill another flying enemy and break open the box for some points. Kill some shield enemies and a pod, then use the platform beyond to warp to the boss. ---- Boss ---- This time you get to fight TWO enemies for the boss battle, but that also means that each one has about half the health of a normal boss. Basically this pair of enemies jumps high into the air and tries to land on you, which is easily avoided. Sometimes they will fire a shot from the ground but it doesn't have very good range so you can avoid it be keeping your distance and watching for it. Every so often the pair goes to opposite sides of the screen and leaps up off the screen. Just keep moving when this happens and both of them should miss you as they come crashing down to the ground again. So basically use your bot like usual until it gets destroyed, then pummel the bosses with your punches. You can score some serious damage if you get one of them trapped against the wall, just make sure you watch that the other one isn't getting too close. After the battle you get to choose which area to play next. I will be playing Area D, which is in the bottom left corner. ------ Area D ------ Head right across the ice while killing the group of enemies, then kill another gunner to your right. Take an alpha/beta from the box and kill the large enemy below, then smash the nearby box for some points. Kill the gunner and the large enemy below before killing a group of enemies, then take the points from the box above and kill the large enemy to your right. Grab points from the box and take out the gunner, then take an alpha/beta from the box below. Kill the gunner above you and take an alpha/beta from the box to your left, then kill another gunner above and use the fence to continue right. Take out a pair of large enemies up ahead and a pair of gunners beyond, then use the health platform if you need to. Open the boxes for some points and an alpha/beta, then carefully drop down the shaft and destroy the fan in your way. Kill the gunner and a trio of fans below you, then kill the gunner to your right and punch the point generator inside the box. Destroy the enemies that the pod creates and head right to the next part of this area. Head right and drop into the water as you avoid the gears, then kill the large enemy on your left and use the platform beyond him to power up your punches. Head right and kill a drone and another large enemy, then get the points from the box and leap up the platforms above to reach an alpha/beta in another box. Head right and drop deeper into the water, then destroy a few mines and drones as you jump up the nearby set of platforms and take some points from the box. Carefully drop right between the gears and punch the point generator in the box, then kill the drone and large enemy before going back left a little. Jump up the ledges above and spend 2000 points on the platform if you want an extra life, then continue right. Kill another large enemy and a pod as you climb up some more ledges, then open the box for an alpha/beta. Kill a few more large enemies as you head right, then take some points from the box and jump up the ledges. Grab an alpha/beta from the box at the top and use the platform on your right to warp to the boss. If you're smart you'll want to make this alpha/beta the 6th one that you collect in the stage so that you can have a fully powered gun for the boss battle, but this means keeping your bot alive long enough to get to this point. ---- Boss ---- For the most part this boss simply flies back and forth at the top of the room firing down at you in bursts, but he occasionally drops some mines too. The mines can be destroyed before they reach you though so they're no big threat. The boss occasionally rushes at you with a sword, but you can spot this easily because it's the only time the boss ever comes down to the ground. After this point he slashes diagonally to the roof. If you managed to get the gun in the previous area then this battle will be short and sweet, but basically attack the boss when he's up high and watch out for his attacks. Otherwise you'll want to use your bot as much as possible until it dies, then rely on your punches to finish the job. After the battle you get to choose which area to play next. I will be playing Area E, which is in the bottom right corner. ------ Area E ------ Head right and kill the gunners before taking an alpha/beta from the box, then beware of falling rocks near the next ledge. Grab the points from the box and spend them to power up your punches on the platform to your left, then enter the water and watch out for falling rocks around the box. Rush to the left side of the box and pummel the point generator inside, if you were right against the box before opening it the rocks shouldn't touch you. Carefully head right past more rocks and kill a gunner on the way, then open the box for an alpha/beta and kill another gunner up ahead. Open the next box for some points before heading right past more gunners and rocks, then open the box from the RIGHT SIDE to safely get the points inside. Continue right and plow through more gunners and rocks, then spend some points on the nearby platform if you need the health. Pummel the point generator in the box and take an alpha/beta from the next box, then kill the nearby large enemy and go right to the next part of this area. Use the fences to start your climb and use the platform on your left if you want to power up your punches, then kill a pair of climbers above and pummel the point generator inside the box. Kill the climber and gunner above you and grab the points from the box on your right, then kill another climber and take the alpha/beta from the box to your left. Kill the gunner up ahead and the turret beyond, then take an alpha/beta from the box and pass through the door. You'll notice now that the gravity's been switched and you're walking on the ceiling. Carefully take out the mines and watch out for the shrapnel when they get destroyed, then continue right through the next door as the gravity returns to normal. Destroy the turret and take the points from the box, then hug the left wall as you drop down the shaft. Collect the alpha/beta from the box if you still have less than five, otherwise wait to collect your 6th one later on in this area. Drop to the bottom of the shaft and destroy the mine, then go left through the door. Take out the turret and pair of mines to your left as you pass through another door. Destroy the turret and mine before dropping down, then kill a pair of gunners and beat the point generator in the box [or avoid the grenade if it appears]. Restore your health on the platform if needed and ignore the box below as you pass through the next door. In this room the gravity can go either way, if you do a short jump then the gravity stays constant. However if you hold the jump button down and do a high jump the gravity switches, so keep that in mind. Jump to the ceiling first and take out the turret, then kill the gunner on the ground and a mine near the ceiling. Destroy the turret on the ground and the mines just beyond it, then destroy the turret on the ground and take the alpha/beta from the box if your bot is about to die but if it can last a little longer then save it. Kill the mine and gunners and ignore the next box, then destroy the turret and kill the gunner beyond. Use the platforms to power up your punches and get an extra life, then go back left and collect that sixth alpha/beta so you hopefully get a gun to replace your bot. Rush right and jump on the platform to warp to the boss. ---- Boss ---- This boss doesn't have a whole lot of attacks, he basically just flies around waiting to be hit. Sometimes you see a small glowing ball in his hands, shortly after this the gravity changes so it's not really much of an attack. Other times a circle forms around the boss, which then spreads outward after a moment. This is the boss's only real attack and you can fire at the circle before it spreads to get rid of it. Otherwise just stay close and use your bot until it dies, then finish off the boss with your punches. After the battle you only have one area left to go to, Area F in the middle of the screen. ------ Area F ------ Through most of this stage you'll have to deal with falling bombs, so just keep an eye out for them as you do everything else. Also if you can get a laser stream bot or flamethrower bot for this stage it becomes a lot easier. Head right and punch out a trio of shield enemies, then grab some points from the first box and an alpha/beta from the second. Kill the shield enemy and hug the right wall as you fall down the shaft, then open the nearby box for another alpha/beta. Climb the fence and kill the gunner on your left, then drop down and kill another gunner by the box that has a grenade in it. Ignore the box below the falling flames since it has another grenade, but drop right just past it and collect an alpha/beta from that box. Use the nearby platform to power up your punches and carefully drop left past the fire, then kill the gunner and flying enemies to your right. Carefully jump past the fire as you kill a gunner and shield enemy, then jump past some more fire. Kill some more shield enemies and take the points from the box, then use the platform above to get your health back. Jump right by using the fences and kill some more shield enemies, then kill a flying enemy and a gunner before using more fences to continue right to the next part of this area. Head right and open both boxes for a pair of alpha/betas, then destroy the pod and go right onto the elevator. Throughout this next section you need to avoid gears, fire and bombs, while also attacking enemies as a machine below fires missiles up at you [it's not the easiest of tasks ;) ]. You can make things a little easier if you have the flamethrower bot or the laser stream bot though because you can use them to destroy the machine below you that's launching missiles. Once you do this it's pretty clear sailing, just kill all flying enemies that appear and watch out for the gears, bombs and fire. If your bot dies during the ride you can open up the boxes to find some alpha/betas. The pair of boxes before the fire both have alpha/betas, then the next one has a point generator. This is followed by an alpha/beta and another point generator, then an alpha/beta at the very top. Once you reach the top the elevator stops for a moment, then tries to hurt you in the gears above before falling again. You can avoid this by waiting at the right edge of the screen, then heading right once the elevator leaves. Ideally you should only need one more alpha/beta to get the gun at this point, so avoid the shots of fire and jump over the first box. Heal yourself on the platform if needed, then open the next box to get an alpha/beta and use the nearby platform to warp to the boss. ---- Boss ---- This boss can be pretty annoying as he doesn't leave you much of an opening to attack him, but if you have the gun he doesn't stand a chance. Basically he swings his sword three times and launches a wave of energy across the ground at you each time. Following this he jumps towards you and sends fire in both directions at a medium distance before his pattern repeats. Try your best to get your hits in during the fire attack, then use your bot and punches like usual while avoiding the gears. After the battle you are taken directly to the next area. ------ Area G ------ Head right and jump from the conveyor to the fence, then kill the two human enemies and head right to the next fence. kill two more human enemies and grab an alpha/beta from the box up ahead, then punch through the barrier and carefully take another alpha/beta from the next box. Kill the human and punch through the next barrier, then continue right and kill a group of humans [one is using an automatic and another is chucking grenades]. Use the platform to power up your punches and open the box for an alpha/beta, then drop down the shaft and pummel the point generator in the next box. Kill the pair of gunners and take another alpha/beta from the next box, then drop to the bottom of the shaft and kill the shield enemy. Jump up the wall on your left and use the platform to regain your health, then kill the gunner and jump left from the bottom of the fence to reach the conveyor unharmed. Kill the gunner and large enemy and head left to fight the boss of Area A once more. He's exactly the same as he was the first time you fought him so you shouldn't have any trouble. Go left after the battle and jump the wall of fire before killing the trio of gunners, then grab an alpha/beta from the next box before taking some points from the box below. Destroy the pair of pods and the shooter nearby before getting your health back on the platform, then drop down the shaft and carefully head right past the conveyors. Grab an alpha/beta from the box [or leave it and come back once you've killed the next few enemies so you can use it on the boss] and kill the turrets, mines, climbers and pods as you continue right to fight the sword boss. Kill the gunner to your right after the battle and jump to the ceiling, then carefully jump from the conveyor to the safe part of the floor. Jump past the wall of fire and kill the pair of gunners, then jump from the ceiling to get over the wall. Go past the wall of fire and jump up the shaft, then kill the gunner and use the platform to get some health. Work your way up past the fire and collect the alpha/beta from the box on the way up, then kill the gunner and hug the right wall as you drop down the next shaft. Destroy the pod and jump up the next shaft, then take an alpha/beta from the box and kill the pod from the ceiling. Kill the gunner above and take the points from the box, then pass the fire from the ceiling and continue right to the gravity boss. Destroy the mines and pod to your right after the battle, then use the fence to destroy another pod and take an alpha/beta from the box to your left. Jump up the ledges and avoid the fiery blasts as you take the alpha/beta and points from the boxes on your right. Power up your punches with the platform and climb the fence, then take out the pair of turrets and jump up the conveyors. There's some more engines to your right launching blasts of fire so watch yourself and your bot. There's an alpha/beta in the left box and some points in the right one, so the first box is the only important one. Jump up to the fence on your left and take the alpha/beta from the box if you have more than one open slot left, otherwise wait until later. Use the fence to kill a pod and turret above before jumping up more platforms to a trio of boxes. Leave the boxes for now but jump over them and punch out the right pod, then climb the fence and destroy the other pod. Now go restore your health on the platform and get the alpha/betas from the rightmost and leftmost boxes [there are points in the middle box] to hopefully change your bot into the gun. Use the fence to get to the upper ledge, then stand on the platform to warp to the final boss. ---- Boss ---- This is the first boss that you fight that has a bot of his own, and as you'd expect it makes for a very difficult battle [to make things worse if you die you start right at this battle, without your bot/gun or powered up punches]. The boss's main attack is a trio of shots that follow a slight wave pattern as they fly towards you [the boss flashes before launching these]. These are easily ducked at medium distance although your bot will likely get hit. So a better way to save you both from damage is to jump towards the boss when you see him flashing, so you jump over the shots entirely and set yourself up nicely to shoot/punch him. The boss occasionally likes to leap high in the air and come crashing down on you. If you keep moving you can avoid this pretty easily, but when the boss lands he lights the floor on fire where he landed [so you need to jump over that spot from now on]. Finally the boss sometimes charges straight at you, but the charge and the jump are both indicated by the boss crouching before he does either one. I was able to eventually beat this battle by using the gun, but I don't think it's easily done without the gun. The laser stream bot might help you in that case, but it will be a very tough battle. After the battle you can watch the ending and type in your initials for your high score! ############################################################################### (G) EXPERIMENTAL ############################################################################### For a little while now I've had a paypal link in all my FAQs at the very bottom here. Mainly as a small experiment since a few other FAQ authors have also had the same idea. I had a few people email me before I put this link in because they wanted to send money, so it's here for those people. For the record I've received about $87 (which works out to a bit more in Canadian lol) last I checked, so I've been getting cases of pop and making some excellent progress on a few FAQs. If you don't want to send money or can't then send me an email, it's nice to hear what people thought about my work and there's always room for improvement. My email address and paypal address for those that want to contribute are both dan.engel.2017 (AT) gmail (DOT) com Many thanks, and I hope you continue to use my work! ~Dan
