That and Kaboom are probably my two favorite Atari games ever. You can imagine the joy I felt when I saw there was a call for the FAQ. Undaunted, I jumped back at the game and began the research, and made a pretty crappy discovery: The items are always random. Phooie! =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Guide Explanation G E =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= This guide simply provides the mansion room layouts, character descriptions, and the 'reversed' mansion on level 9. The object is to find all three Urn pieces and get out of the mansion. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= a. Character Files C H A =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= ___________________ Googly Eyes (You) \________________________________________________________ | On a dare by Atari, you venture into the old mansion in Spirit Bay. With | the myth and ghost stories of Zachary Graves haunting the house, it'll | take all of your courage to find the 3 pieces of an Ancient Urn and return | to the front of the mansion. | _______________________ | Old Man Graves (Ghost) \___________________________________________________| | The final owner of the house now haunts the manor as a white ghost. Unlike | the other creatures, Graves can pass through locked doors and walls. He is | the fastest moving creature in the entire game. | _____________ | Vampire Bats \_____________________________________________________________| | These are the weird looking green V things that are flying around the | house. These are a bit slower than Graves, and a lot easier to avoid. | Unlike the owner, these can not pass through objects. | ___________ | Tarantulas \_______________________________________________________________| | Think of spiders, but make them really ugly and really hairy. That's what | a tarantulas looks like. Here in the game, they are normally pink. If you | play on the higher difficulties, they will be other colors. | ___________________________________________________________________________| - If any of the creatures touch you, you lose 1 unit of Health. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= b. Items in Game I T E =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Urn (Left Piece) | One of the three pieces you need. Looks like a 4 | ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Urn (Center Piece)| One of the three pieces you need. Long crooked I.| ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Urn (Right Piece) | One of the three pieces you need. Little squigly | ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Urn (Complete) | What you need to leave the mansion. | ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Master Key | Used to open locked doors. | ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Scepter | Used to thwart the enemies. | ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Matches | (Equipped) Press the button to light a match | ------------------| which allows you to pick up items. | |__________________________________________________| Aside from the Urn pieces, you can only carry one item at a time. Usually it's a good idea to look for the scepter first, than locate the pieces. One trick is to keep dropping pieces/picking them up in tandem with the scepter, in effect playing leap frog with them. This allows you to be almost invincible while you bring a piece along. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= c. Game Difficulties G M E =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= There are a total of nine different house set-ups, along with the A/B option. Switching to A will cause the screen to always be dark. Switching to B will cause lightning to strike every so often, allowing you to view the mansion for a brief second. The 9 difficulty settings are as follows: Game 1. - Outside always lit. - No doors (so no key) - Three creatures (one of each) Game 2. - Outside is dark - No *locked* doors - Three Creatures Game 3. - Like 2 except: - Some doors are locked - Key is in first room Game 4. - Like 3 except: - Random Key placement Game 5. - Like 4 except: - More spiders! Game 6. - All 5 creatures can chase you room to room - Ghost can pass through door Game 7. - If you're touched by the bat, you drop the item and it moves somewhere else. Game 8. - Like 7, but creatures are faster and ghost is invincible. Game 9. - The Ultimate Haunted House! Same as 8 except: - House layout is different - All 5 creatures can chase you room to room...even locked doors! =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= 1.
