Ver 1.1 - 12/8/05 - [X]Magic only goes to Lv 5. Took out some extraneous methods. Some spelling mistakes fixed. Added in an observation about the names of crystals. Note about [X]Magic Lv 4. 0.2 About this guide -------------------- This guide is written under the assumption that you have a basic understanding of how Atelier Iris's Weapon Synthing system works. If you don't here are a few pointers before you get started. - Fusing two abilities of the same power will add their powers together, i.e. Fusing Life + Lv 3 and Life + Lv 2 will create Life + Lv 5. This is what's meant when you see "Stack Previous" in the Crystallization Table. - An item has a total of 5 Effect slots, and has room for only 1 Crystal. A Crystal can only have a maximum of 3 effects on it. So, plan ahead what 3 effects you want on that crystal and which item to attach it to. - Generally crystals with the same consonants before the first vowel in their names can be stacked. Those that aren't take up 1 of the remaining effect slots on the crystal - When you attach a Crystal, the effects already present on the item can fuse with the effects on the crystal and provide a different effect as if you fused the crystals with those effects together. - Only a select few items can hold crystals. These items are generally one of a kind, and given Atelier Iris's nature you shouldn't throw anything away. - It's strongly advised you have an Aroma Material around as most of the rarer crystallizations involve Grupt and Paltia. This is perfect because there are 2 Aroma Materials to be found in the game. - Unless you have completed the game and have access to Luplus along with a steady supply of Jade and Crimson Manas, you will be somewhat limited in your crystallizations. Weapon Synthing is not an integral part of the game as it can be completed without it. But once you have completed the game, Mana crystallization and fusing quickly becomes more versatile and useful. Much of this guide is based on information already available, and obtained from other FAQs. Much of the most important information was however split between many guides. While Atelier Iris's Crystallization is mostly random and at times confusing, there is a fine line that can be walked were virtually all the randomness is eliminated and you can get precisely what you're looking for, and that's the goal of the guide, to bring together all the most important information together to get exactly what you want from Mana Crystallization and Fusion =========================================================== 1 - Ideal Crystallization Table =============================== Below is a table that lists all the possible effects you can get from Mana Crystallization and Fusion. These effects are arranged by order of type and then power for ease of use. Advanced effects are included as they relate to the previous types they affect. Effects such as Very Heavy won't appear under the Attack Stat type, because they also effect the Speed Stat, so they are listed after both Attack and Speed groupings have been covered. The "->" in the Method column indicates both Fusion and Crystallization. It essentially means "Apply this to that, and vice versa." A note about the effect [X] Magic Lv 4: Due to a translation error, this effect will come up as [X] Res Lv 4. Don't Panic, it is still [X] Magic Lv 4, the game hasn't screwed you over. Just add one more [X] Magic to get Lv 5, and you'll be fine. It's not a "Res" effect unless there's a "+" there. If not "+" is there it's a "Magic" effect. Paltia is the best choice because she can guarantee you'll get something good even if you don't get what you want. =========================================================== 2 - Getting Mana Stones ======================= Many Mana stones can be found lying on the ground throughout the course of the game. Eventually you'll use them all up and will need to find more. You can buy them from merchants, but they usually have a very limited supply and can be quite expensive to buy. Some enemies do drop them, but they are still quite rare. Late in the game there is a sidequest that opens up the Mana Forge in Iris's Resting Place, where a fairy will give out one stone at random to you over time. These methods on their own aren't very effective, but when working together you can quickly rake in the Mana Stones that you need. The process is by no means fast, it's just long and grinding. 2.1 - From Enemies ------------------ Dark, Black, Blue Mana Stones: Puni God Various Punis have these as rare drops. It may take a while, but you can go Puni hunting inside the Puni God. You'll probably get more Blue Manas here than you'll know what to do with, but they can also sell for a decent price once you have no more use for them. Red, Yellow, Green Mana Stones: Cleft of Nelvia/Poto's Forest If you go the Cleft of Nelvia you'll encounter scores of Pigs, Vultures, Vine Traps, and sometimes Wood Golems. The best place for getting Green Mana drops is from Poto's Forest, since Wood Golems are incredibly common enemies there. Glowing, Silver, Jade, Crimson Mana Stones: Mull's Dungeon (Bonus Dungeon) These rare Mana stones can all be gotten in the bonus dungeon after the game is completed. Flame Virums appear very rarely inside the final dungeon and have a Crimson Mana as a rare drop. Note that Jade and Crimson Manas cannot be bought. Gold Mana Stones: Gold Manas are very hard to obtain. No monster is known to drop them, and they cannot be bought. Which means the best chance of getting more is from the Mana Forge. So it's best not to use them, as you can get the same effects from more common Mana Stones - it'll just require more fusions. It bears repeating; don't use a Gold Mana unless you're absolutely certain you want to use it. 2.1 - Purchasing ---------------- Getting the money needed to buy Mana Stones requires some work. Probably the most ideal way is when Veola can make Rings of Love. These sell for 4,500 Cole each, and they cost very little to actually make. Rings of Love require just 4 items. Comet Stones, Silver Legiens, Wax, and any other "Powder" to make. Comet Stones by themselves are hard to come by, but if you go to the Mines north of Arcose, there is 1 Comet Stone near the top of the pulley that has a good chance of appearing if you go in and out of the store there. You'll need the Fly ability to reach it though. Incidentally the store also sells Silver Legiens, which you'll need. On top of that, anywhere from 1-4 Mini Pendalooks can appear as well, you'll need these for having Veola make Pendalooks, which is the currency for the Land of Mana. Use the Comet Stones, and ideally Salt (as it's the cheapest) to create a Comet Gem. Then use the Comet Gem, Silver Legiens, and Wax to create a Ring of Love. 9 of these will sell for just over 40,000 Cole. Also note that you usually can't buy 9 Silver Legiens in one passing at the Mines, you need to get into a battle before the store will restock them. This is a good opportunity to go to Poto's Forest, and the Resting Place of Iris to get a few more Mana Stones along the way. The Fairy at the way-point area sells Dark, Black, and Red Manas. However he doesn't have many in stock. Most times you can only buy 1-4 stones from him. The Exiled Fairy Pattote appears in certain locations once you have amassed at least 30,000 Cole. He sells Yellow, Blue, Green, Glowing, and Silver Manas. The best place to find him is right outside the Weapon Shop in Kavoc. It's a good idea to pay a visit to him once you've amassed around 200,000 Cole since he always has lots of Mana Stones in stock. =========================================================== 3 - Advanced Effect Recipes =========================== There are some effects that produce new effects, when combined with certain crystals. These can be broken down into 2 groups; Simple and Advanced. Simple ones generally require 2 simple crystallization procedures, and some stacking of those crystals before you combine them. These are: Pierce Dirty Power Animal Instinct Heavy Blow Fire Protect Water Protect Thunder Protect Holy Protect (Long way around) Masters Karma Par Res (With Gold Mana) Poison Res (With Gold Mana) Sleep Res (With Gold Mana) Puni Slayer Dragon Slayer Demon Slayer Double Attack These are simple recipes because you can look at the above table and know what you need to do in one look. Example: Pierce requires you have at least ATK COMP Lv 3 and Atk + Lv 2 before you fuse them. By looking at the above table you can quickly determine what it is you need for both components. Advanced ones require more than 2 crystallization procedures, and in some cases requires you to use Simple Effect recipes as a component. These are: Ancient Curse Battle Protect Magic Stone Holy Sanctuary (Long Way Around) Single Power (Long Way Around) Par Res (Without Gold Mana) Poison Res (Without Gold Mana) Sleep Res (Without Gold Mana) Beast Killer Mana Slayer Evil Slayer Holy Weapon With these effects, it becomes difficult to map out what you'll need, and keep track of what you need to do with the stones. And it's here that this part of the guide will lay it out, so that you don't have to go scrolling back and forth over the table repeatedly and get confused. Of all of these, Holy Weapon is in a league of it's own as currently being the most complicated one to get as it needs 2 Advanced effect recipes. Ancient Curse: (4 Stones Total) 1) 2 Silver 2) 2 Glowing Use Diemia to crystallize 2 Silver Manas and fuse them together Use Diemia to crystallize 2 Glowing Manas and fuse them together Fuse the above products together. Battle Protect: (7 Stones Total) 1) 3 Silver 2) 3 Glowing 3) 1 Glowing Sub) 1 Gold for 1 Glowing Use Paltia to crystallize 3 Silver Manas that give Accuracy +, and fuse them together. Use Nymph or Diemia to crystallize 2 Green Manas, and fuse them together. Alternately you could have Nymph or Diemia crystallize 8 Green Manas. Fuse the products together. Use Diemia to crystallize 1 Glowing Mana, and fuse it into the above product. Use Luplus to crystallize 1 Silver Mana, or Grupt or Aion to crystallize 1 Gold Mana, and fuse it into the above product. Holy Sanctuary (Long Way Around): (7-11 Stones Total) Once you have the Magic Stone, you can advance it one step further by having Uru, Nymph, Plua, Diemia, Popo, Aion, Grupt, Zeilia, or Flay crystallize a Crimson Mana and fuse them together. Single Power (Long Way Around): (5 Stones Total) Once you have the Ancient Curse effect, you can advance it one step further by having Luplus crystallize a Silver Mana or Grupt or Aion crystallize a Gold Mana, and fusing them together. Par Res (Without Gold Mana): (11 Stones Total) 1) 3 Dark Sub) 1 Dark for 1 Blue 2) 3 Black 3) 5 Black Use Diemia to crystallize 2 Dark Manas, and Grupt to crystallize either 1 Dark Mana or 1 Blue Mana. Poison Res (Without Gold Mana): (11 Stones Total) 1) 3 Dark Sub) 1 Dark for 1 Blue 2) 3 Black 3) 5 Dark Sub) Any 5 Dark for any 5 Blue Use Diemia to crystallize 2 Dark Manas, and Grupt to crystallize either 1 Dark Mana or 1 Blue Mana. Fuse the crystals together. Use Plua to crystallize 2 Black Manas, and Aion to crystallize 1 Black Mana, and fuse them together. Fuse the above products together to get Holy Protect Use Paltia to crystallize any 5 Dark or Blue Manas that give Psn Res +, and fuse them together. Fuse the above products together to get Poison Res. Sleep Res (Without Gold Mana): (11 Stones Total) 1) 3 Dark Sub) 1 Dark for 1 Blue 2) 3 Black 3) 5 Red Sub) Any 5 Red for any 5 Yellow Use Diemia to crystallize 2 Dark Manas, and Grupt to crystallize either 1 Dark Mana or 1 Blue Mana. Fuse the crystals together. Use Plua to crystallize 2 Black Manas, and Aion to crystallize 1 Black Mana, and fuse them together. Fuse the above products together to get Holy Protect Use Paltia to crystallize 5 Red or Yellow Manas that give Slp Res +, and fuse them together. Fuse the above products together to get Sleep Res. Beast Killer: (9-11 Stones Total) 1) 3 Glowing Sub) Any 3 Glowing for any 3 Silver 2) 5 Yellow 3) 1 Silver Sub) 1 Silver for 3 Black Use Grupt to crystallize any 3 Glowing or Silver Manas, and fuse them. Use Grupt to crystallize 5 Yellow Manas, and fuse them. Fuse the above products together to get Animal Instinct. Use Aion or Flay to crystallize 1 Silver Mana or Grupt to crystallize 3 Black Manas, to get Atk + Lv3. Fuse the above products together to get Beast Killer. Mana Slayer: (6-10 Stones Total) Once you have the Ancient Curse effect, you can advance it one step further by having Aion or Flay crystallize 2 Silver Manas, or Grupt crystallize 6 Black Manas to get Atk + Lv6 and fuse them all together. Evil Slayer: (4-8 Stones Total + 7-11 more if you don't use Jade to get Holy Sanctuary) 1) 1 Jade 2) 2 Silver Sub) 1 Silver for 3 Black 3) 1 Jade Use Uru, Nymph, Diemia, Aion, or Grupt to crystallize 1 Jade Mana. Use Aion or Flay to crystallize 2 Silver Manas or Grupt to crystallize 6 Black Manas, to get Atk + Lv6. Fuse the products together to get Demon Slayer. Use Luplus to crystallize 1 Jade. Fuse the products together to get Evil Slayer. If you don't use Jade you will have to fuse the effects of Spirit Stone - gotten only from Crimson Mana, and Magic Stone together to get Holy Sanctuary. Holy Weapon: (5-9 Stones total + 12-16 more if you don't use shortcuts) This one's a doozy. You need both Evil Slayer and Single Power in order to get it. Single Power can easily be gotten with 1 Stone, and can be fused with Evil Slayer to get Holy Weapon. If you're really sadistic you can take the really long path of doing Evil Slayer and Single Power the long way around, but it's not really recommended. =========================================================== 4 - Credits Thanks etc...
