Introduction and Important Information==-- [Keyword: dc2_intro] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1.1 Version Information [Keyword: dc2_version] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ v0.3 - 11.26.05 - Two updates in three days--I've just spent more time tidying up the older, messier sections and completing those that still need to be completed. There's still a long way to go until this guide will hit v1.0, though. [121 KB] v0.2 - 11.24.05 - Wow, it's been a long time since I've worked on this guide. I've been going back lately and trying to make up for all of my uncompleted guides that have gathered dust on GameFAQs. This update is just another step (after a two-and-a-half-year hiatus) towards completion of this guide. [91 KB] v0.1.2 - 4.8.03 - Tacked on a few more photos and inventions that I found... not too much. Also added another floor to the walkthrough. [65 KB] v0.1.1 - 4.7.03 - Added to the Items, Inventions & Photos section, and added more to the walkthrough. [60 KB] v0.1.0 - 4.1.03 - Just started the FAQ... many of the sections are nowhere near complete. Prolouge and Chapter 1 of the Walkthrough are done, and some of Chapter 2. Almost done with Recruitable Characters section. If you email me to ask any of these questions, your email will most likely be ignored. -- I heard that you can get a bikini for Monica, is this true? Yes, little fanboy, you can, as a matter of fact. Refer to the "Medals" section of the guide for more details. -- Is there any way to change my characters' names? Yes, if you have a "Name-Change Ticket" you can use it to rename a character. Refer to the "Medals" section of the guide for help obtaining one. --==II. You will be given some basic attack instructions, and then you'll be thrown into battle with some "Griffon Soldiers." After a cutscene which will not make sense until later in the game, you will be in control of Max in Cedric's Repair Shop. He asks you to repair a vacuum on the table nearby, so run down to the bottom of the shop and grab the wrench out of the cabinet. While you are there, grab the notebook. Then, run back up to the vacuum and examine it, and Max will start to repair it. Max will doze off, and wake up realizing it is almost time for him to go to the carnival. At the entrance of the carnival, stand in front of the clown and press the square button to open up the item menu. Pick the Circus Ticket, and Max will start to hand it to him. However, a person runs up and snatches the ticket at the last minute. You must then run around asking people about where the person who stole your ticket is. Once you run almost all the way around the main tent, you will find the person hiding behind a balloon stand. Max pins the boy to the ground, and after he starts crying, offers him the ticket. Then, some strange things happen and he will say "You pass the test" and disappear. The ticket is left behind on the ground, so Max decides to still go. Go back to the clown, and once again hand him the ticket. Max will go inside, but since he is not able to see, he climbs up a ladder. However, he overhears a conversation between the mayor and the owner of the circus in the back. He accidentally bumps a can down, and they notice him. Now, you will be chased by a bunch of clowns. Down in the main ring, you will have to have your first battle with Max in order to defeat the clowns. This is not too difficult a task, and afterwards, your Wrench is automatically upgraded to a "Battle Wrench." However, the Circus Owner appears again in a giant clown mechanical monster, and chases you out into the streets. You are saved by Donny, who pulls you down into a manhole. He has a small little hideout down there, and after a short conversation, Max decides he wants to see the outside world for himself. Talk to Donny and say you want to be off... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 2.2 Chapter 1: To the Outside World [Keyword: dc2_walk_1] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------------------------------------------------- |Underground Channel :: Floor One | | "To the Outside World" | |-------------------------------------------------------------| | Map | | | | EN---X | |-------------------------------------------------------------| | Medals | Enemies | | -Time Limit to Defeat All Monsters: | -Clown | | 2:35 | -Froggy | | -Spheda | -Sewer Rat | | -Clear without healing | | |-------------------------------------------------------------| | Georama Pieces :: n/a | |-------------------------------------------------------------| |Just a nice easy floor to get you started with the dungeon | |areas of the game. Try to attack Linda, and there will be no effect. Just keep attacking, and retreating right when she is about to attack, and eventually Cedric will come in and rescue you in a robotic contraption. The robot manages to temporarily down Linda, but it loses power and is no longer able to fight. Cedric then retreats with you back to Palm Brinks. -- Palm Brinks -- The only way to defeat Linda is to use the Ridepod. However, due to the fact it has a very low amount of energy, you need to come up with a solution. Therefore, Cedric gives you a camera and runs you through a tutorial on inventing. You have to take pictures of three items, and combine them into one idea. Cedric tells you that you could possibly make an energy pack with a Milk Can, Pipes and a Belt. Milk Can :: These are sitting on the side of the road outside Polly's Bakery near Cedric's shop. Pipes :: These are attached to various buildings in Palm Brinks. One happens to be on the top of Cedric's Shop. Belt :: Go down the street to the Police Station, and zoom into Sheriff Blinkhorn's belt and take a picture. With that done, return to Cedric and he'll show you how to make an invention. Follow his instructions to get the Energy Pack idea. Now you need supplies. Cedric gives you a little extra cash and sends you down to Morton's Item Shop down the street. You need 20 Scraps of Metal, a Thick Hide, and 2 Hunks of Copper. Return to Cedric and make the Energy Pack. Talk to him, and he will lead you back down to the Underground Waterway. -------------------------------------------- | !!! Don't worry about | |the Ridepod taking damage either, it can be repaired for free by | |Cedric later. Just run up to Linda and whack her with your Cannonball | |Arm. MISSABLE PHOTO ALERT !!! | | "Clown Robo's Attack" | |------------------------------------------| |This is another unique photo that can only| |be taken during this boss fight, and is a | |scoop. Just take a picture of Clown Robo | |RIGHT as he fires his missles. Make sure | |it registers (should have a lightbulb with| |a red star by it. | -------------------------------------------- --------------------------------- |BOSS :: Clown "Halloween" Robo | ------------------------------------------------------------------------ |There are two strategies to this battle, one involving Ridepod, the | |other one not. If you decide to use Ridepod, just start circling | |around him and pounding away. However, if he gets a few lucky hits, | |Ridepod may run out of energy. Then, you must resort to the strategy | |for Max... | | | |Clown Robo has two long-range attacks. One where he sends a small red | |bomb out, which you can pick up and throw back, and his missle attack.| |If you are quick enough, you can pick up the bombs and throw them back| |at him to give him a significant amount of damage. Just watch out for | |the missles. | ------------------------------------------------------------------------ After the battle, you can continue out the other side of the room. This leaves only one more area of the dungeon, the Channel Exit! Max walks out and is amazed by the beautiful sky of the outside world. Start walking down the stairs and you will come upon some train tracks, and guess who pulls up? Cedric in the Blackstone One! Cedric will lead you into the engine room where two other engineers, Erik and Borneo are already waiting. You set off, and a long conversation ensures. After awhile they hear a loud bang, and you are sent up to investigate with Cedric. --------------------------------- |BOSS :: Flotsam's ATV | ------------------------------------------------------------------------ |This is a fairly simple boss fight. Cedric puts Bombs up on the top of| |the train, and you have to toss them at the machine. It may take a few| |tosses to get used to the distance, but you should catch on quick. No | |worries if the health of the Blackstone One hits 0 too, as you will | |not get a Game Over screen. | ------------------------------------------------------------------------ After beating him, he jumps up onto the Blackstone One, and reveals tons of dynamite strapped around him. Max and Cedric panic, but the mysterious person from the Carnival reveals themself, and kills Flotsam. The person then shows her true form, a young girl named Monica... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 2.1 Chapter 2: Resurrection of the Great Elder [Keyword: dc2_walk_1] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The train then pulls into the Sindain Station. There is a save point nearby, so save, and then continue down along the path. You meet up with little dwarf things called "Firbits." They run into their house, so follow them in there. After a long conversation, Conda, the head Firbit, opens up the path to a new dungeon, Rainbow Butterfly Wood. Conda wants you to look for other members of their clan who have been lost in the forest looking for a mysterious woman. He gives you some Grape Juice (which WAS Wine in the Japanese Version) and sends you forward. --------------------------------------------------------------- |Rainbow Butterfly Wood :: Floor One | | "Frightening Forest" | |-------------------------------------------------------------| | Map | | | | EN---X | |-------------------------------------------------------------| | Medals | Enemies | | -Time Limit to Defeat All Monsters: | -Himarra | | 4:45 | -Man-Eating Grass | | -Spheda | -Skeleton Soldier | | -Fish Goal: 70 cm or more | | | -Attack and defeat all enemies using| | | MONICA'S SWORD | | |-------------------------------------------------------------| | Georama Pieces :: n/a | |-------------------------------------------------------------| |New Dungeon, New Monsters, New Key (Fairy Saw,) but the same | |strategy: Get the key and continue... | --------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------- |Rainbow Butterfly Wood :: Floor Two | | "Strange Tree" | |-------------------------------------------------------------| | Map | | | | EN---O---X | |-------------------------------------------------------------| | Medals | Enemies | | -Time Limit to Defeat All Monsters: | -Moler | | 4:28 | -Man-Eating Grass | | -Spheda | -Pumpkinhead | | -Fish Goal: 65 cm or more | -Tore | | -Attack and defeat all enemies using| | | ITEMS | | |-------------------------------------------------------------| | Georama Pieces :: n/a | |-------------------------------------------------------------| |Nothing different here either... kill the monster with the | |key and head to the exit. However, most of the monsters here are fairly | |easy, so it shouldn't be too hard. Get used to seals, there | |are many, many more to come... [NOTE: You can permanently | |break a seal by defeating all monsters in the floor] | --------------------------------------------------------------- -- Great Fish Swamp -- Here you meet up with the rest of the Firbits, who seem to be in some sort of a "daze." All except one, that is. He asks for something to drink, so give him the grape juice (wine.) In return he gives you a fishing rod. Continue along the path until you get to the back to the area and come to master Master Utan. -------------------------------------------- | !!! MISSABLE PHOTO ALERT !!! | | "Master Utan" | |------------------------------------------| |Here is the third missable photo. Take a | |snapshot of Master Utan in pain from | |eating a Poisionous Apple. | -------------------------------------------- Talk to Master Utan, who is in pain from eating the "Fruit of the Holy Fish," more commonly known as a Poison Apple. He suggest that the fish may have put the Firbits into a trance, and says you might try catching the Holy Fish with one of the Apples. Pick one up from the stack by Master Utan if you don't have an apple already, and head over to the clear pond (not the muddy one by the Firbits.) Open up the menu and equip the fishing rod, and put the Poisonous Apple on the rod. The rod will float in the water, but before long it will start to vibrate, and a '!' will appear over Max's Head. At that moment, hit Square and pull the Analog Stick to get a hit on the Holy One. -------------------------------------------- | !!! MISSABLE PHOTO ALERT !!! | | "King Mardan" | |------------------------------------------| |Another rare scoop photo is the picture of| |the Holy Fish, King Mardan... | -------------------------------------------- You reel in a giant purple fish who is quite... weird. He admits to putting the Firbits under a trance and offers to restore them in exchange for a "Priscleen Fish." This fish can be caught in the two fishing holes by the Firbits. Go fishing here with a Mimi (the worm) to catch a Priscleen. If you run out of Mimis, talk to the Firbit on the log to get more. After you catch the fish, return it to King Mardan to make him restore the Firbits to their normal self. -- Sindain & the Carpenterion -- The Firbits return to the village with you, and they will wander off into the forest, and come back with a giant mechanical contraption, the Carpenterion. This is a highly-advanced machine which lets you recreate towns with a breeze, as long as you have the proper supplies. There is one catch, however. In order to make Carpenterion build anything, you have to download "Geostones" into the core. Geostones are large glowing orange balls that hold the knowledge of the ancients. Many of the floors in the dungeon have these Geostones, and you can use these to teach the Carpention new skills Head back to the Fish Monster Swamp. Master Utan is now feeling better, and he'll clear the exit to the next floor of the dungeon. --------------------------------------------------------------- |Rainbow Butterfly Wood :: Floor Four | | "This is a Geostone?" | |-------------------------------------------------------------| | Map | | | | EN---O---O---O---S---X | |-------------------------------------------------------------| | Medals | Enemies | | -Time Limit to Defeat All Monsters: | -Face of Prajna | | 5:00 | -Moler | | -Spheda | -Pumpkinhead | | -Fish Goal: 50 cm or more | | | -Attack and defeat all enemies using| | | only RIDEPOD | | |-------------------------------------------------------------| | Georama Pieces :: Iron Chimney, River, Thorn Tree, Wooden | | House, Wooden Stairs, Wooden Stand. | |-------------------------------------------------------------| |This is the first floor with a Georama piece in it. Weapons==-- [Keyword : dc2_weap] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3.1 Intro [Keyword: dc2_weap_intro] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Unlike typical role playing games, your characters do not directly gain more power--instead, their weapons due. Every monster, upon its death, drops little blue crystals called "ABS", representing the energy that your weapon absorbs from defeating the monster. As your weapons gain ABS, they level up, each time earning "Synthesis Points," with which you can spectrumize items onto your weapon to increase their power. The first category of weapon stats are attributes, which directly relate to how powerful it is and how long it can last in battle. Each of these is numbered from 0 to 255, representing the relative strength of the attribute. --------------------- | Weapon Attributes | |------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | Sym. | Atribute | Effect | |-----------------------------------------------------------------------------| | WHP | Weapon Hit Points | Weapon can last longer before breaking. | | At | Attack | Base weapon damage. | | Du | Durability | Slows rate of WHP loss. | | Fl | Flame | Deals extra damage to enemies weak against fire. | | Ch | Chill | Deals extra damage to enemies weak against ice. | | Li | Lightning | Deals extra damage to enemies weak against | | | | thunder. | | Cy | Cyclone | Deals extra damage to enemies weak against wind. | | Sm | Smash | Deals extra damage to armored enemies. | | Ex | Exorcism | Deals extra damage to undead enemies. | | Be | Beast | Deals extra damage to animal enemies. | | Sc | Scale | Deals extra damage to scaled enemies. | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The other variety of stats are weapon abilities. These are not numbered--the weapon either has them or doesn't, and they add special bonuses or weaknesses to the weapon. Some weapons come with these abilities, but new ones can be added by spectrumizing the correct type of coin for the ability. If you find that your favorite weapon has a negative ability (Poverty or Fragile), you can negate the ability by synthesizing on the coin that is opposite that ability (Wealth or Durable). -------------------- | Weapon Abilities | |-----------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Ability |Effect |Coin | |-----------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Wealth | Increase in Gilda dropped (about 1/3) |Wealth | | Poverty | Decrease in Gilda dropped (about 1/3) |n/a* | | ABS Up | Increase in ABS dropped (about 1/4) |Experience | | Durable | WHP decreases more slowly (about 1/10) |Indestruct.| | Fragile | WHP decreases more quickly (about 1/10) |n/a* | | Critical | Weapon sometimes causes twice the damage |Bulls-Eye | | Heal | Wielder of weapon slowly regains HP |Heal | | Absorb | Sometimes absorb some of enemy's HP |Absorb | | Dark | Weapon becomes 50% stronger; wielder slowly loses HP |Dark | | Poison | Weapon has a chance of poisoning enemy |Poison | | Stop | Weapon has a chance of stopping enemy |Time | | Steal | Chance that you get a free item from the enemy |Bandit | |-----------------------------------------------------------------------------| |* - There are no coins for Poverty and Fragile, due to the fact that they | |are negative abilities. | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3.2 Tools (Hammers/Wrenches) [Keyword: dc2_weap_tools] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Wrench | Battle Wrench | / \ / True Battle Wrench Drill / Wrench | Turtle Shell Smash Hammer Wrench / | / / \ Frozen Tuna Kubera's Hand / \ / \ / Stinger Cubic \ / Wrench Hammer Big Bucks Hammer | | Poison Digi Wrench Hammer | | Sigma Heavy Breaker Hammer | | Grade Legend Zero ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3.3 Guns [Keyword: dc2_weap_guns] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Classic Gun | Trumpet Gun Dryer Gun / \ / / Bell Trigger Grenade | Launcher / \ | Star Magic Jurak Dark Viper Breaker Gun Gun | | / \ / / \ Wild Cat / \ / Twin Buster Soul | | Question | Breaker Sexy Soul Shooter Sigma \ Panther Breaker | Bazooka \ | / Steal Desperado Gun | | Last Resort Supernova ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3.4 Swords [Keyword: dc2_weap_sword] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Long Sword Baselard Gladius | / | / \ / Cliff Knife Bastard Broad Sword Sword !!Rest coming soon ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3.5 Armbands [Keyword: dc2_weap_armbd] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Magic Brassard | / \ / \ Gold Bandit Brassard Brassard \ / \ Crystal Thorn Brassard Armlet / \ / / \ / Platinum Pocklekul Brassard | | Spirit Brassard !!Rest Coming soon --==IV. Inventions==-- [Keyword: dc2_invent] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 4.1 Intro ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Perhaps one of the most daunting and in-depth sidequests in the game is that of inventing new items. Almost all non-raw material items can be made in this fashion, including healing items, Ridepod parts, and weapons. Inventions are completed in three major steps: 1) Snapping a few photographs for brainstorming ideas. 2) Turning these ideas into a concrete blueprint. 3) Assembling the invention. Included in this guide is a detailed list of all of the possible inventions in the game, including the photographs and supplies needed, as well as a list of all of the unique photographs. ----------------------- -- Photography Level -- ----------------------- Another benefit of this sidequest is the raising of your "Photography Level," which slowly rises as you take more unique pictures. After attaining higher levels, you may return to Donny in either the sewers of Palm Brinks or his new home in Veniccio to obtain some nice rewards. For every regular photo you take (yellow lightbulb by the name), you recieve 2 points, and for every "scoop" (red lightbulb), you recieve 5 points. ---------------------- NOTE :: Though you can take many of these | Photography Prizes | unique photographs in dozens of places over |----------------------------- the course of the game, you will only | Points | Prize | recieve credit for the first picture you |----------------------------| take. | 100 | Diamond | | 200 | Explorer Cap | There are a grand total of 750 "earnable" | 300 | Steal Coin | points in the game, which means that, if you | 400 | Explorer Boots | fail to take every "missable" photo in the | 500 | Explorer Outfit | game, you will only be able to earn the Sun | 600 | Moon Badge | Badge if you snap every other picture in the | 700 | Sun Badge | game. ------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 4.2 Invention List ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ There are a grand total of 130 unique inventions that Max can invent and assemble over the course of the game. Max must first brainstorm each idea by thinking of its three unique invention ideas (which are obtained by taking photographs), and then he may assemble it with the given parts. Many of the items he can invent may be purchased in shops scattered across the game, but, including the price of supplies, constructing it himself is usually much less expensive. Ridepod==-- [Keyword: dc2_ridepod] Ridepod, which Cedric lovingly named "Steve," is the powerful, durable, and customizeable robot in which Maximillian can go rampaging through the dungeons. In terms of a fighting machine, he carries certain pros and cons, namely: + Pros: High defense; powerful weapons; once upgraded, nearly unstoppable - Cons: Fuel (health) slowly drains; initial parts somewhat shoddy; weapons tend to eat through bags of Repair Powder; cannot upgrade weapons through synthing. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5.1 Ridepod Parts [Keyword: dc2_ride_parts] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In order to get the most out of the Ridepod, it is imperative that you upgrade his parts, especially so, since his initial equipment leaves him slow, vulnerable, and weak. Steve comes with an assortment of parts: a core, feet, an energy pack, a body, weapons, and shields. These can be upgraded in a multitude of ways, from spending Steve's experience at Cedric's Ridepod shop (the ABS that Steve collects gets converted into these points), purchased at shops, or by inventing them yourself. Minus a few unique upgrades which cannot be obtained through inventions, inventing is the simplest and most cost-effective way of obtaining new parts. ---------- -- Core -- ---------- Steve's core is kind of like a computer's motherboard, in that it has no direct effect on his power, yet you'll be forced to upgrade it if you want a higher capacity for shields and high-tech parts. The ONLY way to obtain new cores is through Cedric's Ridepod upgrade shop. NOTE :: Cedric will only have the next level of core available in his shop, therefore you can't "skip" all the way up to the better cores--you must go through them incrementally. -- Core -- Cost: n/a Invent: n/a Shields Max: 12 Capacity: 60 -- Improved Core -- Cost: 900 exp Invent: n/a Shields Max: 24 Capacity: 90 -- Core II -- Cost: 1400 exp Invent: n/a Shields Max: 36 Capacity: 120 -- Core III -- Cost: 2000 exp Invent: n/a Shields Max: 48 Capacity: 160 -- Super Core -- Cost: 3500 exp Invent: n/a Shields Max: 60 Capacity: 200 -- Hyper Core -- Cost: 5000 exp Invent: n/a Shields Max: 72 Capacity: 240 -- Master Core -- Cost: 6500 exp Invent: n/a Shields Max: 84 Capacity: 300 ---------- -- Body -- ---------- If Steve's core is his motherboard, his body is his case. These give an extra armor bonus ontop of Steve's root shields level. A few of these may be purchased at Cedric's Ridepod shop, but the vast majority must be invented. These also drain on hte max capacity that a core can support. -- Drum Can Body -- Cost: n/a Invent: Chair, Drum Can, Lamp Armor Bonus: 6 Capacity Used: 10 "Torso part made out of a Drum Can" -- Milk Can Body -- Cost: n/a Invent: Chimney, Milk Can, Peeping Hole Armor Bonus: 12 Capacity Used: 14 "Torso part in the shape of a huge Milk Can." -- Clown Body -- Cost: n/a Invent: Cup, Paints, Parasol Armor Bonus: 12 Capacity Used: 19 "Torso made to look like a clown." -- Wooden Box Body -- Cost: 800 exp Invent: Giant Yorda Tree, Hmmmm! Defends against almost any attack." -- Sun & Moon Armor -- Cost: n/a Invent: The Sun, The Moon, Electric Sesame Armor Bonus: 30 Capacity Used: 40 "Strongest torso of all. Contains ancient strength." ------------------ -- Energy Packs -- ------------------ Energy packs dictate Steve's energy capacity. Not only does he lose energy while you pilot him around, but also when taking hits. Though better armor and shields will have an indirect effect on the amount of time Steve can last before a recharge, these become the sole means by which you can ensure that he will, to quote the Energizer commercial, "keep going and going and going." Only one of these can be purchased from Cedric; the rest must be obtained through invention. -- Energy Pack -- Cost: n/a Invent: Belt, Milk Can, Pipe Energy: 80 Capacity Used: 15 "Max's first invention. Now the Ridepod is all set!" -- Energy Pack (Barrel) -- Cost: 600 exp Invent: Barrel, Belt, Tree Energy: 120 Capacity Used: 30 "Improved Energy Pack. Has more capacity." -- Bucket Pack -- Cost: n/a Invent: Mailbox, Trashcan, Warehouse Energy: 160 Capacity Used: 35 "Based on a steel bucket. Will this actually work?" -- Cleaner Pack -- Cost: n/a Invent: Can, Vacuum Bag, Water Tank -OR- Air Cleaner, Belt, Vacuum Energy: 200 Capacity Used: 45 "Energy pack made out of an empty vacuum cleaner." -- Energy Pack (Urn) -- Cost: n/a Invent: Energy Pipe, Generator, Pot Energy: 240 Capacity Used: 50 "Energy pack made out of an urn. Don't break it!" -- Triple Urn Pack -- Cost: n/a Invent: Flower Chandelier, Light of Luna Stone, Pot Energy: 300 Capacity Used: 60 ------------- -- Shields -- ------------- Steve's shields represent his defense stat, which figures into the games damage equations just like Max's or Monica's. There are no unique "kinds" of shields, rather, you simply must buy "Shield Kits" from Cedric's Ridepod upgrade shop, which can then be outfitted onto Steve. The number of shields you can have is directly determined by the level of core Steve currently has. You can buy a grand total of 21 Shield Kits, each of which adds 4 armor, for a grand total of 84 shields (funny how that synchs up with the max number of shields with the best core, huh?) Your first Shield Kit will set you back a cool 600 exp., and subsequent Kits cost 10% more than the previous one (so the next is 660 exp, then 726 exp, then 798 exp, etc.) ---------- -- Misc -- ---------- There is only one miscellaneous part that doesn't fit under any of the previous categories. It can't be made, only purchased from Cedric. -- Voice Unit -- Cost: 1000 exp Invent: n/a Capacity Used: 0 "Voice unit for Ridepod. Quite a chatterbox." My advice would be to NOT purchase this, as Ridepod will never offer up any worthwhile commentary about anything, rather making whiny and annoying remarks about enemies attacking him. --==VI. Monster Transform==-- [Keyword: dc2_monster] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 6.1 Badge List [Keyword: dc2_mon_badge] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ There are a total of twelve monster badges that you may collect over the course of the game. Ten of them each give one monster transformation, while the remaining two increase the power of your transformations. Beast Badge :: Get a gift capsule and put 3 cheeses in it. Then, feed it to a Sewer Rat in the Underground Waterway. Windup Badge :: Find a Bomber Head in Chapter 3, and throw a Bomb at it. Easy as that. Floral Badge :: You have to (in order for the story to progress) get this in Chapter 2 from the Tailor Shop in Future Sindain. Aquatic Badge :: You can get this on the same run as the sewer rat. Just toss a Froggy a gift capsule with 3 Battans in it. Magical Creature Badge :: This badge is obtained by throwing a gift capsule with three sturdy rocks at a Statue in Chapter 3. Darkling Badge :: This one is rather costly. Toss a gift capsule with 3 gold bars at a Spider Lady, and this should be your reward. Reptile Badge :: Toss yet another gift capsule with 3 Wind Elements at a Wind Gemron (monster from Chapter 2.) Spirit Badge :: This one can be obtained with 3 Gooey Peaches, which should be thrown at a Pixie. Undead Badge :: Purchase a Holy Water, and throw it at a Skeleton Warrior in the Rainbow Butterfly Wood. That should get you this badge. Card Badge :: This one is the single hardest one to obtain. You must toss a badge with 3 diamonds at a Diamond Card in Chapter 7. Sun Badge :: You get this after gaining a Photography Level of 8 from Donny. Instead of giving you a new transformation, it makes your monster transformations more powerful. Moon Badge :: You get this after gaining a Photography Level of 7 from Donny. Instead of giving you a new transformation, it makes your monster transformations last longer. --==VII. Recruitable Characters=-- [Keyword: dc2_recruit] There are a multitude of characters you can recruit over the course of the game by meeting their requests. These people serve many purposes, including repopulation of the cities outside of Palm Brinks, shops, and support characters in the game's various dungeons. After recruiting a character, they automatically move into your train, after which point they can be added to any building in the rebuilt cities simply by opening the door of the vacant building (which brings up a menu). ----------------------- -- Example Character -- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- | Location | Where to find this character. | | Request | What must be done to recruit this character. | | Abilities | Benefits this character gives. | | Skills | Skills the character can use inside the dungeons. | | New Home | Place to which the character _must_ be moved.* | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- *If a character has "n/a" listed here, it simply means that they can be placed in any city, as they are not specifically needed to satisfy any Georama conditions, or you may simply keep them on the train for the duration of the game. ---------- -- Adel -- ---------- Location :: In the Servant's Room of Max's House Request :: A Thick Hide, Hunk of Copper, and Sturdy Cloth so she can try to make some clothes. Fishing==-- [Keyword: dc2_fish] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 8.1 Rods [Keyword: dc2_fish_rods] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ There are two types of rods in the game. The regular rod, which you get automatically in Chapter 2, and the Lure Rod, which you get from winning the fishing contest. The only difference is the type of bait which they use. The regular rod uses disposable bait such as Pricklies, Mimis, or Potato Cakes, which the Lure Rod uses lures, which never run out. It is essential to train up both rods, as some fish can only be caught with certain types of bait. As you catch fish, you will gain "FP," or Fishing Points. These are like experience for your rod. Every 100 FP you get, you can level up one stat of your rod: ------------- | Rod Stats | |--------------------------------------------------------------------- | Flight | The distance that you can cast out your line. | | Strength | How quickly you can reel in the lunkers. | | Resiliance | How slowly the break gauge fills up. | | Grip | How much the controller rumbles when a fish nibbles. | | Luck | The chances of getting a big fish and a rarer breed. | ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Resiliance, strength, and luck are BY FAR the most important skills in that set, so, by all means, focus on them first. Flight becomes useful later on, because the rarer breeds of fish tend to lurk further away from the shore, but this should not be your initial focus. As for Grip, if you have no trouble feeling the rumble from the beginning, there is no reason to level this up at all, unless you want to max out your rod for completion sake. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 8.2 Bait ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The second most important part of fishing is the bait you use. Depending on what you use, you will get different types of fish. Bait is usually found in chests across the dungeons, but can also be dropped from enemies. ------------- | Bait List | |--------------------------------------------------- | Banana | Niler, Piccoly | | Battan | Bon, Gummy, Niler | | Bomb Nuts | Gummy, Piccoly | | Carrot | ?? | | Evy | Bobo, Bon, Tarton | | Gooey Peach | Bobo, Bon, Gummy | | Heart-throb Cherry | Gummy | | Mimi | Gummy, Niler, Nonky, Tarton | | Minion | Bobo, Bon, Den | | Petite Fish | Bon, Den, Kaji, Hama Hama | | Poison Apple | Mardan Grayan | | Potato Cake | Gummy, Tarton, Priscleen | | Prickly | Gummy (?), Bon | ---------------------------------------------------- -- Lures -- Fork :: Baron Graydan Frog :: ?? Minnow :: Baku Baku Spinner :: ?? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 8.3 Types of Fish ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ There are a whole slew of different breeds of fish included in the game. Some are rarer than others, but there is no one true all-around "best breed." Some are big enough to rake in big points in the Fishing Competition, others have the brawn needed to duke it out with other fish in the Battle Tank, and many others have the agility and the speed to beat all of the rest in Finny Frenzy. This can easily be done by feeding it various types of food in the regular aquarium. -------------- | Fish Stats | |--------------------------------------------------------------------------- | Stat | Description | Raised by eating | |--------------------------------------------------------------------------- | Boost | The fish's raw speed. | Carrot, Minion | | Endurance | How long the fish can swim at max speed. | Mimi, Petite Fish | | Stamina | How much attacking a fish can endure. | Evy, Potato Cake | | Strength | How much damage a fish can dish out. | ? | | Tenacity | How quickly a fish can attack others. | Battan, Prickly | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- --==IX. Spheda==-- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 9.2 Clubs ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Perhaps the most important part of Spheda is the clubs. Like other equipment, you can also level up and build up your clubs or even use them in battle. However, I found this part very overrated, and ended up using the Turkey and Swan (putter and standard class clubs) for most of the game. Anyway, here is a chart showing the build-up patterns of the clubs: Turkey Swan Handy \ / Stick Flamingo | Falcon | Albatross --==X. Medals==-- [Keyword: dc2_medals] Medals are a reward for completing certain goals in the various dungeon levels. These include everything from completing a round of Spheda, to defeating all enemies with Monica's Monster Transformations. The prize for all of this hard work? Clothes! At any time after recruiting the Mayor (see "Recruiting Characters" section), you may exchange your medals for prizes. ---------------- | Medal Prizes | |------------------------------ | Prize | # Med. | |-----------------------------| | Clown Suit | 55 | | Clown Hat | 40 | | Clown Shoes | 40 | | Princess Dress | 60 | | Panther Ensemble | 65 | | Princess Orb | 40 | | Kitty Bell | 45 | | Princess Boots | 40 | | Panther Boots | 40 | | Name-Change Ticket | 40 | ------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 9.1 Time Trials [Keyword: dc2_medals_time] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This category of medal requires that you defeat all enemies on a level in a certain amount of time. Don't forget, this includes any Mimics and King Mimics that may be lurking in the level's treasure chests, which means that you should either bring Pau along (who can identify which chests have Mimics inside) or open every single chest you find. The easiest way to complete these is with an upgraded Ridepod. Once he at least has the Propeller Feet, he'll be able to move much faster than Max or Monica, which, when coupled with some good long-range weapons, will allow you to take down enemies quickly. A good energy pack and some shields are also worthwhile investments for this venture, as you will want Ridepod working for the long haul. You are rewarded with your medal at the "All Monsters Defeated" screen. --==XI.
