R2 - Override target lock-on. R1 - Fixed-target tracking. Left Analog stick - Highlight menu option. Control character. L3 - Switch targeted enemy. Select - Display status screen. Start - Pause/display subscreen. Triangle - Cancle menu option. Use sword. Circle - Examine/evade. X - Accept menu option. Jump. Square - Use Gun. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ MISSIONS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Throughout this game, you'll be given missions to do which are basically levels. In each level, there are monsters and possible boss(es). Once you complete a mission, you'll be told your time, orbs collected, devil ranking, and other stuff. The higher your devil ranking is, the more extra red orbs you get. You'll learn more about orbs if you read the next sub-section... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ORBS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Each time you defeat an enemy, you'll be awarded one red orb. When you get rid of a boss, you'll get more depending on his difficulty. With these red orbs, you can upgrade your weapons. You won't get enough to upgrade your guns, and swords to it's full potential so choose one weapon you like, and upgrade that. You can also trade in the red orbs for items... Green orbs heal your vitality (health) in different amounts. White refills your devil trigger guage three levels of strength. Blue increases your vitality to it's maximum. You have to collect 4 pieces to use it though. Purple refills your devil trigger guage to it's maximum. Finally, gold lets you start from the same place where you were killed in action. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ DEVIL TRIGGER ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ With each character, Dante or Lucia, you can change into a demon form for a amount of time depending on your devil trigger guage. The higher the amount, the more time you'll get to stay in the demon form. When you are in the demon form, you can cause more damage so it's wise to use it only during a TOUGH boss fight. You can collect devil hearts which add certain abilities to your demon form. Some let you fly while others add elemental attacks to it. Well...That's it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ WEAPONS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ In this action game, each character will have two weapons from the start. A sword, and a type of gun. Later on, you'll find new weapons such as the shotgun. You NEVER run out of ammo. The only downfall is that you CAN'T fill up your devil trigger guage when killing foes with this weapon. Check out the Weapons section for more detail on each weapon. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ MONSTERS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Throughout the levels in this game, there will be monsters. You have a choice of either shooting, cutting, or running away from them. In some instances, you CAN'T run away. Like when you get surrounded by red walls, you have to destroy all the enemies so it can be eliminated. You should kill them so you can collect the red orbs as you'll need to upgrade your weapons later on. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ BOSSES ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Bosses are the same as monsters except they can be a lot harder. Early in the game, they'll be easy. Later on, you'll have to use your devil trigger to get rid of them. Remember, the bigger they are, the slower they are. Use that to your advantage. IF they're slow, you can hit them from behind without being injured. Although, most bosses aren't that slow or weak. Walk on the walls, and move from place to place to avoid damage. Use your devil trigger mode when needed and items when needed. That's all. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ MOVES ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Dante and Lucia both have their own set of unique moves. Some can deal lots of damage. Check out the Characters section for me info. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ +_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+ *************** =- VI. STORY -= *************** In ancient times, a religion arising somewhere east of the Mediterranean Ocean split into many different factions. Its disciples quickly carried it to Western Asia, Europe, and North Africa. As time passed, some gods were forgotten, others were assimilated into other religions, and still others were shunned as evil. For one reason or another, the gods all but disappeared. What few people continued worshipping them were branded as heretics. The dissenters were forced to turn their backs on their on homelands in order to continue in their beliefs. Venturing farther and farther away, the outcasts eventually found themselves adrift in an unknown land floating on the outskirts of the New World. This was Dumary Island. Hordes of refugees of different races, beliefs and languages crossed over to the island. The first to arrive followed the sea routes of the old Viking explorers, around the North Pole and through the Pacific Ocean. Following them come runaway slaves seeking sanctuary. The newcomers all had a single common point--belief in a pagan religion. Tribes that had historically skirmished over old differences running deep in their cultures now lived together peaceably on the same island. As the generations passed, the former strangers blended together into a single people. Their mix of different languages, ethnic customs and various gods gave birth to new, totally unique religions. The gods worshipped by the new blend of people were an ancient family of beings inhabiting a different dimension. They wielded strange powers and existed outside the concepts of right and wrong. Deities that were considered evil or pagan in the old world weerem on Dumary Island, simply thought of as "other gods"---there were too many of them to count. Rites performed in honor of these idols often resembled exorcisms and demon sealing ceremonies. The priests of these cults were known as "guardians" and were sometimes called upon to protect the gods and their worshippers. Many were the legends of guardians who had borrowed power of their own gods to defeat enemy gods. One recent tale, only a few hundred years old, told of a great swordsman appearing from "the outside" to aid in exorcising the most evil god of all time. Over the centuries, Dumary Island's success in supporting the worship of the unique religions while maintaining its existence out of the mainstream has been nothing shot of miraculous. Lately, however, agents of international corporations have quietly begun infiltrating the island. Their purpose is to aquire the "special ores" discovered in the island's interior. On Dumary Island, the people's simple religious piety, as well as the fabulous artifacts buried in the inner mountains, are now in great danger... _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ +_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+ ********************* =- VII. Here's his attacks: Hightime - R1 + Up, Down, Left, Right + Triangle. Press the left analog stick or directional button "back" (towards Dante's back). Stinger - R1 + Up, Down, Left, Right + Triangle. Press the left analog stick or directional button "forward" (towards Dante's front). Dash forward with sword extended and stab the enemy. Rain Storm - X, then R1 + Square. Fire off this attack while in the air. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ LUCIA'S MOVES & DESCRIPTION ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Lithe, quick and agile, this mysterious, sexy demon fighter will prove that she is a formidable foe. Her first weapons of choice are two ornately crafted curved daggers for attacks of the up-close and personal nature. She moves like a cat and uses throwing knives for long-range attacks. When cornered, Lucia will execute her stunning triple wall jump. Sky High - R1 + Up, Down, Left, Right + Triangle. Press the left analog stick or directional button "back" (toward Lucia's back). Rapid Fire - R1 + Up, Down, Left, Right, then Square in midair. DANTE ============================================================================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ INTRO ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Before you can start playing there will be a FMV when you start a new game. You see Lucia looking at something but you don't know what it really is nor what it's purpose is. There is talk about Sparda's Legacy and how his legacy has been passed down to his son Dante. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ MISSION 1 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ============================================================================== ii. LUCIA ============================================================================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ MISSION 1 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Collect at least 45 red orbs to open the door at the end. Enter the new area. You'll encounter your first enemys, Agonofinis. Attack it up close to get rid of it quickly. Watch out for it's throwing shield attack. Jump through the opening high in the wall, and collect the Blue Orb on the right side. Yet again, you'll get attacked by a flying bird called Pula. Throw your daggers at all of them to defeat them. After walking for a while, red walls will surround you. Kill both Savage Golem's to get through. Don't worry, there both slow as hell so just hack away at them. Get to the big door and you'll pass the mission. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ MISSION 2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ An FMV will start. Make the spinning stuff around the sphere purple. You'll fight two Goatlings. For them, just hack away at them with your swords. Grab the gem from the wall. You just recieved the Aerial Heart. Fly up the flight of stairs. When you get to the top, hit the red sphere to get LOTS of orbs. Hit the other spinning sphere. Fly through the air as Pulas attack you. Land, and walk up the stairs. Time for a boss fight! =-=-=-=-=-=-= Tartarrussian =-=-=-=-=-=-= Attack it from behind as it is really slow. That way, you can deal lots of damage without you getting hurt! I hope that strategy works. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Get to the top of the building. You just passed the mission. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ MISSION 3 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ You'll finally meet up with Dante. Walk a little and red walls will surround you. At the end, you'll fight a Goatling. Enter the door on the left side. Pick up a new sword laying on the ground. Equip it. Keep walking down the pathway. Defeat all the Msira's and break through all the ruble. Get into the room at the other end. Demolish all the enemy's to get the Healing Heart. After recieving that Amulet, go through the area that is near the water. You'll fight a boss. =-=-=-=-= Jakatgulm =-=-=-=-= Equip the Healing Heart before attacking this boss. In order to defeat this foe, you have to hurt the inside. To do this, get rid of one of the fins. That should let you attack the inside. It also uses a protective shield once a while. Also, use devil trigger when you can as your going to need it. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Go through the door to pass the mission. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ MISSION 4 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ In this level, you'll encounter Infestants. Just attack it to deal with them. After a while, you'll fight a semi-boss. Attack Orangguerra from behind, and keep JUMPING. You don't want to get hit. Time for a boss!!!! =-=-=-=-=-=-= Infested Tank =-=-=-=-=-= -= Attack this foe from behind. Do NOT jump on top of it. It's guns will hurt you. Also, its cannon moves around, so keep moving. This battle is really easy. I hope that helps. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= You just beat the mission. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ MISSION 5 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Get to the top of the stairs. Enter the plane, and pick up the Cranky Bomb from the ground. Walk into the room that is on the bottom left side in the hangar. After activating the power, go to the beginning part of this mission. You'll recieve the Evil Heart. That's not a good though because it drains your power little by little. Enter the room on the other side of the red orbs. Hit the spinning sphere. Get inside the cage by going all the way down then flying up. Grab the Amulet there, and continue on through the huge door on the left side OUTSIDE of the cage. Step on the thing (I don't know what it is!) in the middle of the floor. Pick up the new weapon. Place the Evil Heart in the wall, and you'll gain a new Amulet. Ride the elevator up. Keep walking and you'll beat the mission. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ MISSION 6 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ There will be a FMV with a guy walking out of a helicopter. He'll hit you with some VERY strong, and you'll end up in a area with no exit. Monsters will start coming after you. Now is a good time for equiping the Darts. Get rid of them all. Then all of a sudden, a huge moth will come out from the air, and will drop some eggs. Here's the strategy for defeating it: =-=-=-=-=- Soctpteran =-=-=-=-=- This boss will drop eggs that will hatch into man eating caterpillars. There is only like a 10% chance of killing one because they immediatley go under ground. The caterpillars will try to suck you in. You don't want that because they will deal TONS of damage. Throughout the area are green orbs. Use the Healing Heart so you won't have to use up any of the green orbs. You're going to need them in the end. Now, back onto topic, the caterpillars also jump up from the ground and are pretty fast. Don't under-estimate them. When you finally defeat the damn monster, it will lay a few more eggs before giving up. They will be the same kind of caterpillars except 2 or more will be going after you. Use the same tactics and you should do fine. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= When you are done with the boss, step onto the teleporter. Collect the 2 red orbs and the blue fragment from the walls behind you. Look under water for the Bowgun. Equip it, and enter the door on the top left side. You just beat the mission. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ MISSION 7 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ +_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+ **************** =- IX.
