INTRODUCTION G0100 =============================================================================== Welcome to 'Diabolik: The Original Sin' for the Playstation2, released by Black Bean Games in 2009. The identical game was also released on the PSP. This walkthrough is written specifically for the PS2 and PSP version, as I have noticed that the PC version is slightly different thus I have to assume that it is also the same for other consoles. If I find that there are identical ports then I will surely update this document. Should you manage to find out before I do please do let me know. Suggestions, comments or errors - tell me about it. Enjoy! =============================================================================== 02.) BASICS G0200 =============================================================================== The controls are not only super-easy, but they are also explained in the manual, constantly ON SCREEN and almost baby fed to you again in the in first chapter. The game says it auto-saves but there is actually no such thing. SAVE your game! There are also several times that the game may glitch up on you. Use the different slots that are available. There are two kind of mini-games you will encounter. The first one only occurs in the early chapters where you have the darts. You will have to line up the two rows in some way that they are in the center, but you do not have to be very accurate. The second and extremely common mini-game consists of a pie which is divided into sections. One of these sections will light up and you have to quickly move the cursor to the edge of it. This is really easy but you cannot doze off during the scenes as the timing is almost just enough to make it. =============================================================================== 03.) WALKTHROUGH G0300 =============================================================================== Chapter 0: 72 Hours ``````````````````` "...A feeble glow lights up a fetid prison cell... Who is it? And why is a prisoner being held there?" Walk left past the door, Action on the beam, then Action on the nail. Action on the splinters to free your hands. Run to the bed, Action on the bed and Action on the wire. Use the wire on the prison cell door. Chapter 1: Dead-end railway track ````````````````````````````````` "Diabokik is dead. What happened 72 hours ago?" Run into the next screen and sneak towards the sign until a scene takes over. Sneak into the next screen and walk closer to the guard until the game will mention about the guard. Select the blowpipe and use it on the guard. A mini- game will start. Wait for the red dots to both be near the center to shoot. If you miss you can retry. Continue along until you come to another guard. Diabolik says you must be slow here but as he is anyway you do not need to worry about it. Go to where the train wagons are connecting and use the grappling hook on the lower part of the train. Walk left and examine the train box. Take the pincers. Use said pincers on the grating on the right. Go down the grating. The message about athletic abilities should have prepared you for what is coming. When the scene starts, quickly move the cursor to the edge of the marked section. You have enough time for this and it is super easy when you know what you are doing. Walk left and use the sleeping gas mine on the guard. Go through the window. Inside the train, use the mask on the guard to change clothes. Use the laser pointer on the compartment to seal it. Run north and open the compartment with the small key. Run to the end of the corridor to find a bathroom. Inside, examine the sink and take the hair clip. Continue to the second wagon. At the first cabin door to the right, use the hair clip to enter. Examine the desk and take the map of the train. Examine the map in your inventory. Leave the cabin and run to the restaurant car. Examine the walkie-talkie, switch to frequency 845.9 and call the guards with it. Enter the restaurant and talk to the guard about everything until you run out of material. Next time you try you get to pick the "act quickly" choice. *START COUNTDOWN* After taking out the guard, interact with him to hide in the bathroom. Run down the restaurant car to find a sleeping valet. Get the card from this shirt pocket. Once again you have to complete a mini-game to swipe the card unnoticed. Run back and swipe the card on the junction box. Enter the dressing room and pick up the uniform from the shelf. *STOP COUNTDOWN* Run into the next restaurant wagon and use the blowpipe on the guard standing in the doorway. Run through to the corridor and use the knife on the electric panel. Cut the wires with the knife by using it on the electric panel again. Take the door that leaves the train. Run ahead and use the grappling hook on the footbridge. Use the laser pointer on the gate to cut a hole. Press the button on this side and then use the pike lying on the floor to automatically press the button on the other side. After pressing the other buttons you can set the lever to normal to open the door and get through. Set the lever to off and run through to the plate. Use the picklock open it. Use the laser on the plate and go up the ladder. Back in the train, use the blowpipe on the guard. Examine the guard and another one will appear. Play the mini-game to take him out. Run down the way he came until you reach a jammed door. Just in front and to the left is a block, interact with it. Run back to the first guard and use Action to see a scene. Run to the back of the card and examine the briefcase. In the next cart, interact with the number pad to open it now that you know the combination. Use the conveyor belt controls to move the crates. Go up the ladder near the number pad to see a scene where you have to play the mini-game to escape. Chapter 2: Eva's last breath ```````````````````````````` "The original sin painting is near... A single painting in exchange for Eva's life, the trade is uneven..." Walk south a bit until you come to a desk. Use the knife on it and click on the drawer, then remove the drawer's board and take the green card. Walk right and into the next wagon. Continue down the wagon to a parcel. Take the thin wire by interacting with it. Return to the knocked out guard and examine the parcel next to him. Use the wire on it to retrieve the small brass key. In the cart where you found the wire, move the crates aside to reach a locker and use the brass key on the locker. Grab the blue card. Return to the previous wagon and run to the other end. Use both cards (green and blue) on the door and enter the next cart. Move forward a bit for a scene and the all-familiar mini-game to resolve the situation. Run through the wagon, then another wagon to find some parcels up on the ceiling at the start of the next one. Run to the back of the wagon and at the end you will see some yellow parcels near the ceiling. Interact with them to remove them from the grate. Examine and interact with it. Stand on the left of the previous parcels and use the knife to untie the crates as well as retrieve the rope.Use the strong rope on the grate and then climb into the ventilation system. Inside waits another mini-game. *START COUNTDOWN* Run forward a bit and interact with the passage above. Play yet another mini- game to take out the guards. *STOP COUNTDOWN* Enter the door these guys came from. Check out the non-metal cupboard to get an electronic card. Check the raincoat for an appointment book. Examine the book in your inventory. Use the electronic card on the card reader to unlock the archive. Interact with the archive to open a card index, then interact with the card index. Return to the cart where you drop-kicked the guards and interact with the archive to get the painting (there are two archives, try them both if get the wrong one). A scene follows, as usual containing a mini-game, and then the chapter ends. Chapter 3: Rain of fire on the lake ``````````````````````````````````` "Damned scumbags! They've thrown Eva in the lake! Who the hell is behind this? Someone's going to pay!" First run right until you reach a fence you can simply jump over. Proceed to the door ahead and attempt to enter. Now leave the enfenced area again and run all the way left until you find a locomotive. Examine the window and attempt to smash it. Run right a bit until you reach a railway crossing sign. Examine it and take the wooden piece of it. Go left smash the locomotive window with the wooden sign. Enter from the front. Run through to the other end for a scene where you once again need to play the mini-game. Take the ID badge from the open door near the dead snake, and then enter the door near the entrance to this room. Find a memo inside the jacket. Read it. Return to the middle compartment and pull the curtains aside. The rusty key is now visible in the middle of the room. Exit the locomotive and run all the way right and examine the fence to get across. Run around the side of the right large container to find a forklift. Examine it and then the compartment to find a wrench. Use it on the tank. Use the rusty spare key on the oil. Use this new oiled key on the door in the center of the area, then enter. Turn right and interact with the door here. A second time will force it open. Win the mini-game and look at the cable in the water, attempt to enter the water as well, leave the room and finally enter the door opposite this one. Talk to the guard. Talk to him again to take him out with the "must get rid of him" option. Pick up the guardians ID card by selecting the unconscious guard, then use it on the panel on the left. When it asks for the fingerprint, drag the body of the guardian over. Use the buttons on the left of the room (if Diabolik does not use the buttons then you may have to go back to the waterlogged room and interact with things, or check out the electrical box outside the building first), then exit the building. Run around the container to the electrical box. Use it to shut off the power. Return to the room with the water and interact with the shelf. Take the shelf to get an empty ID card. Go to the computer in the central room and look at the guardian's ID card to get the password. Use the computer, then insert the blank ID card on the fingerprint device on the right. Return to the room with the knocked out guardian and use the new card on the panel. Finally, the new door is open. *START COUNTDOWN* This new countdown is a little tight, mainly because the camera angles could waste you a lot of time finding the way out of the new room. Look at the documents on the right side, then check out the organization chart on the wall to find the security chief's name. Return to the computer and use it to find the security code. Run back into the room and use the number pad. Exit the building and go to the left where the gate is now open. Use the controls on the wall and enter the hatch. *STOP COUNTDOWN* Climb down the ladder and run around the corner to find your target. Chapter 4: Diabolik's secret hide-out ````````````````````````````````````` "The guard, who was he, really? ...And who was that dead woman? Nothing makes sense except finding Eva. Alive!" Attempt to enter the other door to be told you need to find medicine. Open the drawer in the kitchen to find some. Enter the room now. Next you should check out the wardrobe and the computer before examining the lower painting of the three. You are supposed to get a closer look of it now, but this is sometimes tricky to get done. Keep looking at the things around here, the stuff on the desk, to finally get this working. With the password you can work the computer and enter the secret base behind the wardrobe. Use the flash drive with the computer to upload the info. Run across the bridge and straight across another one. Get a map of the geographical archive and insert it into the computer from just now. Return to the area across the bridges and plug the digital camera into the computer archive. You will get the technical data on the helicopter. Feed it to the computer as well. Ride up the elevator and read the book above the TV. Return to the base and walk south of the computer to find the gym. Take the syringe from the locker on the left and leave the gym again. Run north past the computer and enter the metal curtain door. Watch the scene and play the predicable mini-game. Chapter 5: White Roses petals ````````````````````````````` "Denvon, the ancient castle of the Monroe family... One of Diabolik's past acquaintance, they are the White Rose." Run along through the tunnel and end up on the other side where you cannot continue. Throw a walkie-talkie in the bush behind the guard and return to before the tunnel. Use the other walkie-talkie with the useless crows to distract the guard. Walk down the path again and enter the passage. Run along until a scene takes over. Interact with the locker to get a pry bar. Run right past the junction and pry open the crate. Use the crate to be moved. Take a few steps into the kitchen to talk to the chef. After he is gone... *START COUNTDOWN* Grab the scissors behind the cooker, then use it to cut the meat grinder's cable. You have to examine the grinder first for that. Use the cable on the door the guards will be coming from to delay them. *RESET COUNTDOWN* Grab the lubricant from the nearby table as well as the gloves you probably saw already. Examine the escape door to and select the hinges. Use the lubricant on it and then the gloves to escape. *STOP COUNTDOWN* Run down the road and to the church-like building. Run to the right of it for a scene and a mini-game. Inside you will meet a familiar face. Run around the building and enter through the skylight. Interact with the desk and take the key. Take the key from the shelves as well. Go through the card index to find a flight plan. Use the office key to leave. Use the card key on the other door to get a propane tank. Use the balloon to take off, watch the scene, win the mini-game and arrive in the castle all of the sudden. Run straight until a scene takes over. Return to the previous room and turn right. Change your clothes at the wardrobe. Walk down the path you wanted a second ago and "talk" to the guards. Walk to the bottom of the screen and interact with the tile on the floor. Chapter 6: Twin thruths ``````````````````````` "72 hours have passed and Diabolik is still alive. Helena's grandfather's handkerchief in the two paintings. Goran wants to find out the secret behind them!" Go to the left and interact with the clothes on the hanger. Enter the door to the restaurant. Tell the waitress you are Julia Ormond. After the scene, go through the other door nearby and into the lady's room, then examine the building plans twice. Open the door on the right of the one closed for maintenance and use the EMP device on the toilet. Get ready for a mini-game, then use the picklock on the brown door. Walk around the north and examine the disguise in your inventory. Continue until Diabolik mentions some noise going straight. Enter the door (you may need a few attempts to open this door). After talking to the guard, use the intrusion device on the main computer. Play the mini-game. Leave the room again, use the image duplicator on the camera and then picklock the door on the right. Run into the corner and enter the door. Once again make your way to the bathroom and end up in a new area. Examine the remote control and start recoding, then capture the feed. You have to make sure that there is no interruption thus you want to start as soon as the interruption has occurred. Make the recoding long enough for the scene to switch over yet again. (If you are struggling with this then I better tell you that this is the worst part of the game and you really have to keep trying, you are not doing anything wrong. It really takes many, many small chunks of video feed to have enough and the interruptions are not always the same length. Talk to the guard, then with Ginko. *START COUNTDOWN* Run through the lobby to find the door to the corridor. For some reason you have to examine it to open it. The same goes for the door leading to the control room you want to enter. Use the main computer for a scene. *STOP COUNTDOWN* Chapter 7: The true face of evil ```````````````````````````````` "The Monroes Riches, denied to their legitimate heir, Goran! A huge treasure for the re-birth of the White Rose!" Sneak around the front side of the truck and towards the guards. Throw the smoke grenade over to them, play the mini-game and quickly pull the knife on the approaching guard before the time runs out. Exit through the door. After the chat, yet another mini-game to play. Talk to Helena afterwards. Examine the handkerchief, then run around the benches past the dead body of the henchman to interact with the door. FAQ GXX00 =============================================================================== Q: Who is Diabolik? A: You can read all of this up online much better than me giving you a quick overview. You may know him best from the movie Danger: Diabolik. Q: Does the game really make use of auto-save? A: No, it doesn't seem to do anything of the sorts and you should always manually save the game. Q: How do I access the missions and extras on the main menu? A: You have to unlock them first by playing the game, thus load a saved game and return to the main menu to have it opened up as much as you have progressed. Q: The countdown froze but I had not solved the puzzle yet. A: This glitch happened to me a couple of times, especially if you are in the middle of talking while the time expires. This leads to the countdown vanishing but no way to continue the game. The only way to continue is to reload. Q: I am stuck in Diabolik's hideout, how can I access the secret base? A: As descibed in the walkthrough, you are supposed to examine the lower of the three paintings hanging at the desk with the laptop. However, before he will really take a closer look you will have to know what you are looking for. This took me some time to figure out too, but I think you have to interact with the wardrobe and the computer for this to trigger. Look and interact with different things and it will eventually work. Q: What is with those mini-games? A: They are a pathetic excuse of interactivity, just be happy they are easy and not annoying in any way. Q: Can you die in this game? A: Yes, almost all the time. However, you are simply taken back before the wrong action was performed and you can retry. Almost all failures result from a failed mini-game. Doing something wrong will lead to instant feedback thus you do not have to be worried about getting stuck down the road or something. There is no way to get stuck in this game unless you encounter a glitch (see above). Q: Why does it seem that a lot of times there is something missing in the story? A: I feel that they have rushed this game, cut some corners especially during the later chapters. There also seem to be a lot of puzzles missing from the PC version which leads me to believe that there are either hardware concerns for the PS2 or they simply did a lousy job with the port. For example. at one point you suddenly have items that you never picked up but the PC version uses for parts of that chapter. Q: Does this walkthrough work for the as well? A: I am not sure, but here is a run-down on what the game is released for and what I know about it: DS: Different location design, different puzzles, unlikely anything can be recycled to work with it. I hear the story is the same, not surprising. PC: It has more puzzles but follows a similar flow. You will need to work on your own for several sections but I may flesh out the guide for this at some point. PSP: Identical as far as I know.
