Introduction DT2INTRO # # -----------------------# #------------------------------------------------- ######### Dynasty Tactics 2 is one of those hidden gems that come along every once in a while and provide solid game play and fun, but doesn’t really sell as well as it should. In Dynasty Tactics 2, you play as one of four leaders trying to unify ancient China. When you are fighting in combat, you will have various tactics at your side that you can use to your advantage. ######### -----------------------# #------------------------------------------------- Dynasty Tactics 2 # # FAQ/Walkthrough # # 1a. I’ve been distracted lately and not wanting to play the game. I will continue on this guide when I find the time and energy to do so. ######### -----------------------# #------------------------------------------------- Dynasty Tactics 2 # # FAQ/Walkthrough # # 1b. Game Basics DT2BASIC # # -----------------------# #------------------------------------------------- ######### Dynasty Tactics 2 is split up into two parts. The first part is the world map. This is where you form your armies, move them around the map, and tend to your officers. The second part is the actual battles. Therefore, this section is split into two parts. ######### -----------------------# #------------------------------------------------- Dynasty Tactics 2 # # FAQ/Walkthrough # # 2a. World Map DT2BAMAP # # -----------------------# #------------------------------------------------- ######### The World Map is where you set up you officers and armies and get ready for battle. In most chapters, you will only see parts of the entire map. These are the areas you can visit during this chapter. In each chapter, you are striving for an objective, which is normally a city on the map that you must capture. That city is normally highlighted. When you capture this city, you move on to the next chapter. When you form your army, you will need to move around the map and make your way towards your objective. You should normally have at least two armies, if not more. You should try to even out the power in the armies as much as possible, but always make sure that your main army is strong enough to get through the regular battles. While on the World Map, you can also manage your officers. You can change their unit type, their Tactics, or equip them with items. It’s always good to check up on your officers every once in a while, as they will level up and be able to use more Tactics. ---------------------------------- Barracks, Mystics, and Townsquares ---------------------------------- At each spot on the map, there is a Barracks and a Townsquare or an equivalent to it. You should always visit a Townsquare with every officer, as that will give you a chance to increase your officer’s stats or create a bandit unit on the map. Bandit units are normally really good to fight with your secondary army, as they are typically weak, but still provide decent experience. The Barracks is where you can buy Tactics using Craft points. You gain Craft points for defeating officers in battle and winning battles. The amount a Tactic costs is different for each officer. You can buy the same Tactic over and over again, but each time you buy it, the cost becomes higher and higher. Normally, you only need one of a Tactic, as a second one is normally too costly for it’s worth. When buying Tactics, you should always try to take into consideration what your officer is good at. Obviously, an officer with a high WAR stat and a low INT stat would be more suited to use the WAR tactics than the INT tactics. Every once in a while, when you reach a city or a landmark, you will find a mystic living there. Always visit these mystics, as they can help you out. Sometimes, what the mystic gives you can make all the difference in a battle. ------------------- Civilians and Spies ------------------- Sometimes, you will find civilians on the World Map. These civilians are officers that don’t have a ruler to follow. If you have a friend of a civilian that is currently in your army, then you can move that officer to the place where the civilian is located at and he will recruit the civilian for you. You can move them there by making them a spy or putting them in an army and moving that army to that city. Spies are officers that move about the World Map. You can move a spy into enemy territory, but there is a chance that they will get caught. If you have a spy that is in enemy territory, you can perform various Ruses against the enemy’s army. However, these Ruses do cost Craft points. Also, you can view a more in depth look at the enemy’s army, including who are friends with each officer. If you have a spy that is a friend of the enemy’s officer in the city with that officer, you can have that spy visit that enemy officer. Sometimes, the spy can convince the enemy officer to defect. ######### -----------------------# #------------------------------------------------- Dynasty Tactics 2 # # FAQ/Walkthrough # # 2. Battle DT2BABAT # # -----------------------# #------------------------------------------------- ######### While moving around on the World Map is fun (not really), the main part of the game is the battles. This is where you fight it out for control of the land. In each battle, you have an objective that you must fulfill. You also have a time limit that you must fulfill that objective in. Finally, there are losing conditions that, if they happen, will cause you to lose the battle. Each officer on the field has a certain amount of soldiers in his army. When that amount goes down to 0, then that officer is defeated. In other words, the soldier count is your hit points. Each officer performs their turn in a certain order. That order is determined by morale. Morale is an extremely important factor in Dynasty Tactics. Morale dictates who goes first. The higher the morale, the higher up in the turn order you will go. Also, certain officer skills are triggered by morale. These officer skills can often mean the difference between winning a battle and losing a battle. Certain skills turn an ordinary officer into an unstoppable powerhouse. You start off a battle with a certain amount of morale, which is based off of your officer’s level. You can lower morale of an enemy army by using certain Spy Ruses on the World Map. Morale can go up or down by tactics. It is always a good idea to have some officers that know some morale raising skills. You also gain morale by defeating officers. Supply depots can also help you regain morale, if you have one on your side of the battlefield. Also, certain officers can talk to each other and gain morale. When in battle, you can move, attack any enemies within range, and perform tactics if possible. Also, a certain type of unit, called Engineers, can build certain objects, such as catapults and arbalests. You can learn other special skills, such as Lure or Melee, through items. When everyone has moved and performed their turn, a day will have passed. When you perform a tactic on an enemy or an ally, you have a chance to set off Tactical Combos. If you performed a tactic on an ally, if that ally has a chance to perform a tactic on another ally or on an enemy, he will do so. If you perform a tactic on an enemy, then if an ally can perform a tactic on the same enemy, then he will do so. Each tactic has a percentage. That percentage is the success rate of the tactic. If the tactic fails, the tactical combo ends. However, with each tactic performed in a combo, the chance of success for each tactic after the first goes up by a certain percentage. The damage also increases for each tactic performed in a combo. The highest combo that can be attained is 16. Each army has a commander and strategists. Normally, when an army has their commander defeated, that army loses. However, this is not always the case. A strategist can perform two special commands. They are the Order Chain command and the Link command. They are explained here: Chain/Order Chain: When a strategist orders a chain, he is allowing an officer to perform multiple tactics at the same time, provided that the conditions are fulfilled for each tactic. When an officer can perform a chain tactic, the hands of that officer will glow blue. The downside to ordering a chain is that the strategist loses 5 morale. Link/Link Tactic: When a strategist links a tactic, the next allied tactic performed on a different target will set off the tactic that was linked. This allows you to perform tactical combos on units that are not next to each other, as well as increase the chance of success and the damage for the linked tactic. If the enemy that was linked has a turn before an allied officer performs a tactic, the link is broken. The key to winning battle is learning how to use your tactics in an efficient manner while maximizing their potential. Using a tactic just to use a tactic is never a good idea. There should always be a reason behind using a tactic. ######### -----------------------# #------------------------------------------------- Dynasty Tactics 2 # # FAQ/Walkthrough # # 3. Tactics List DT2TACTI # # -----------------------# #------------------------------------------------- ######### There are many tactics in this game that you can use to crush your enemies. There are four different types of tactics that are at your disposal: WAR Tactics: These tactics normally involve doing as much damage as possible. There are some tactics in this set that lower morale or move the enemy, but these are mainly used for dealing damage and dealing as much damage as possible. Normally, these tactics involved directly attacking the enemy. INT Tactics: These tactics normally involve taking advantage of the positioning of the enemy. Also, there are a lot of tactics in this set that take advantage of the terrain you are on. These tactics also focus on moving the enemy to your advantage. LEA Tactics: These tactics focus on assisting your allies or getting your allies to assist you. Most of these attacks rely on the positioning of your allies to attack the enemy. There are a lot of tactics in this group that raise the morale of your troops. Friend Tactics: These are special tactics that you do not have to buy or equip. When friends are positioned in a special way and a tactic chain is started, these tactics will automatically happen. These tactics can only be triggered through a chain and cannot be triggered normally. Also, there are general specific friend tactics that can only be triggered when certain generals are positioned in a certain way. A general can only perform one friend tactic a battle and you can only perform a certain amount of them per battle. It is always good to have a well balanced party so that you can take advantage of all three types of tactics, since each tactic set excels at certain fields that the other tactics don’t. For example, if you bring all fighters with high WAR stats and only WAR tactics, you may find it difficult to raise your morale high enough and, therefore, will always be going after your opponents. Tactics will be shown in the following format: --- Aid --- Conditions: * Ally adjacent to the side and facing in same direction * Enemy adjacent in front of ally Effect: * Attack enemy with ally * Ally morale rises Positioning Before: [ ][ ][ ][ ][ ] [ ][ ][ ][ ][ ] [ ][ ](v)[ ][ ] [ ]|^|[^][ ][ ] [ ][ ][ ][ ][ ] [ ][ ][ ][ ][ ] [ ][ ][ ][ ][ ] Positioning After: [ ][ ][ ][ ][ ] [ ][ ][ ][ ][ ] [ ][ ](v)[ ][ ] [ ]|^|[^][ ][ ] [ ][ ][ ][ ][ ] [ ][ ][ ][ ][ ] [ ][ ][ ][ ][ ] The conditions for the tactic provide what is required in order for the tactic to be triggered. The effects for the tactic provide what happens during and after the tactic is triggered. The positioning before is an example of a setting where the tactic can be triggered while the positioning after is what happens to that setting after the tactic has been performed. The key for these grids are as follows: [ ] = Empty grid [^] = Space where unit triggering the tactic is located (^) = Space where enemy unit is located |^| = Space where allied unit is located The arrows represent the direction that the unit is facing. ^ = Unit facing north v = Unit facing south > = Unit facing east < = Unit facing west For those tactics with a range of attack, that range will be noted with a special grid, with the range of attack noted by a [*] ######### -----------------------# #------------------------------------------------- Dynasty Tactics 2 # # FAQ/Walkthrough # # 3a. Dynasty Tactics 2 Walkthrough DT2WALKT # # -----------------------# #------------------------------------------------- ######### This section is the walkthrough for the game. Each of the four generals in this game have multiple scenarios in which you can play through. Each scenario is divided into chapters with different goals. There are also branching points in the Main scenarios. In this walkthrough, I will do my best to provide step by step instructions in order to defeat the enemy. I will be only including the basics that you should be doing in order to complete the stage. Everything else, such as obtaining generals, will not be listed, but will be assumed. You should always start off each stage with looking for civilians and other generals that you could possibly pick up and recruit. I have provided the cities you can capture and most of the mandatory battles you will have to go through, along with any special conditions that you may encounter. I will try to be as thorough as possible, but most of the time in the game, you can choose your own path that you wish to follow. You can either choose to rush to the main city or you can choose to take your time and take every city possible and check every possible area for mystics. Also, since it is possible for the enemy to form new armies and attack you with random armies, there is no way to document every single possible battle. For important battles, this is the format that will be used: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Battlefield: Objective: Conditions for Defeat: Special Condition: Enemy Commander: Enemy Strategists: Other Officers: Other Notes: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- As far as mystics go, I am not sure if they are randomly placed or not, but I will be posting where I personally found each mystic. Also, each chapter will be labeled with a letter. Since the game has multiple branching points that allow you to reach multiple endings, sometimes, after a choice, you will be told to go to a certain letter and chapter name, depending on what choice and path you wish to follow. ######### -----------------------# #------------------------------------------------- Dynasty Tactics 2 # # FAQ/Walkthrough # # 4a. Liu Bei’s Prologue DT2WTLBP # # -----------------------# #------------------------------------------------- ######### This is mainly a tutorial teaching you the basics of the game. In each battle, you will be taught certain aspects of the game and forced to perform certain moves and tactics. In this scenario, Lu Bu has attacked Xia Pi and caused Liu Bei to retreat. Now, allied with Cao Cao, it is your mission to retake Xia Pi. Also, you will not be able to save the entire prologue. --------------- A Land in Chaos --------------- Objective: Occupy Xia Pi Conditions for Defeat: Xiao Pei is occupied Cities to Capture: He Cheng, Xia Pi Mystics: None 1. As soon as the scenario starts and after the cut scenes, you are immediately attacked by Zhang Liao. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Lu Bu’s Forces Battlefield: Xiao Pei Special Condition: None Enemy Commander: Zhang Liao Enemy Strategists: None Other Officers: Wei Xu Other Notes: This is a tutorial battle. You will be forced to move, attack, and use a tactic when prompted to. Other than that, it’s not a very hard battle. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. When the battle is complete, you will get a small cut scene. Once that is done with, you will receive two generals, Cao Hong and Cao Ren. You will then be forced to move to He Cheng and face off with Song Xian. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Lu Bu’s Forces Battlefield: He Cheng Special Condition: None Enemy Commander: Song Xian Enemy Strategists: Hou Cheng Other Officers: None Other Notes: This is another tutorial battle. At the start of the battle, you will be forced to perform a tactic combo on Hou Cheng. After that has been done, you will then be forced to order a chain and perform a chain tactic on Song Xian. Once that is over with, you will be given back control over your characters. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. After the battle, you will get some character interactions between your officers and Cao Cao. Then, you are forced to give Mi Zhu a tactic at the Barracks, make him a spy, and have him recruit Chen Deng. After this, you will form a new army. You will then be given control, but the only thing you really can do is attack Xia Pi. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Lu Bu’s Forces Battlefield: Xia Pi Special Condition: None Enemy Commander: Lu Bu Enemy Strategists: Chen Gong Other Officers: Gao Shun Other Notes: When the battle starts, Zhang Fei and Lu Bu will throw taunts at each other, which causes Zhang Fei to gain 10 morale. Now, this should be an easy battle in which you greatly outnumber the opposition. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4. Now, the only thing left to do is to watch the ending. ######### -----------------------# #------------------------------------------------- Dynasty Tactics 2 # # FAQ/Walkthrough # # 4b. Liu Bei’s Main DT2WTLBM # # -----------------------# #------------------------------------------------- ######### Liu Bei’s Main scenario is unlocked by completing Liu Bei’s Prologue. Liu Bei’s scenario is long with multiple branching points. You will follow Liu Bei as he tries to restore the Han dynasty to power. ----------------------------- A. Zhuge Liang’s First March ----------------------------- Objective: Occupy Bo Wang within the time given Conditions for Defeat: Xin Ye is occupied or the set time runs out Cities to Capture: Wan, Bo Wang Mystics: Fan Castle, Wan, Wu Yang, Ying Chuan, Xin Ye 1. As soon as the chapter starts, you will automatically be sent into battle with Xiahou Dun. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Cao Cao’s Forces Battlefield: Xin Ye Objectives: Defeat all enemy units Conditions for Defeat: Allied commander is defeated or 25 days elapse Special Condition: Win without losing any allied units Enemy Commander: Xiahou Dun Enemy Strategists: Li Dian Xun You Other Officers: Han Hao Xu Huang Other Notes: When the battle starts, Zhuge Liang will taunt Xiahou Dun, confusing Xiahou Dun to start off the battle. There is a special condition for this battle, which is to win without losing any allies. This should not be too hard, as you have more generals than the opposing side. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. When the battle is over, you get a love-fest between Liu Bei and Zhuge Liang. You also get a new officer, Liu Feng. There should be a Mystic at Xin Ye, so make sure to visit him before heading off to the next battle. Normally, I visit most mystics with Zhang Fei first, because sometimes, a mystic will give him the Entice tactic, which is one of the best tactics in the game. It works like Taunt, except that it lowers the enemy’s morale instead of raising it, which makes it a very powerful tactic. Wan should have two armies in the city, so I’m not exactly sure how the game decides which army you will have to face off with. Either way, they are both a step up from your last battle. 3. I would suggest now trying to pick up all the civilians that are on the field, especially Xu Shu. Also, visit the mystic at Wan. Also, there are sometimes points past the objective city. Sometimes these cities may hold mystics that you can visit to get items. When you are done getting civilians, officers, and visiting mystics, it’s time to attack Bo Wang. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Cao Cao’s Forces Battlefield: Bo Wang Objectives: Defeat enemy commander Conditions for Defeat: Allied commander is defeated or 30 days elapse Special Condition: None Enemy Commander: Zhang He Enemy Strategists: Chen Qun Xun You Other Officers: Dian Wei Xiahou Dun Xu Zhu Other Notes: This is just a basic battle against few of Cao Cao’s toughest officers in his arsenal. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4. After you take Bo Wang, you find out Liu Zong has surrendered to Cao Cao. ---------------------- B. Jing and the South ---------------------- Objective: Occupy Jiang Xia within the time given Conditions for Defeat: Yi Cheng is occupied or the set time runs out Cities to Capture: Chang Ban Mystics: Yi Cheng 1. This is a relatively short chapter. There are only three cities that you can reach, since there is no longer a path to the other part. Visit the mystic and then make your way to Chang Ban. Xiahou Yuan will try to stop you. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Cao Cao’s Forces Battlefield: Chang Ban Objectives: Defeat enemy commander Conditions for Defeat: Allied commander is defeated or 15 days elapse Special Condition: Complete a 3 Tactic Combo Enemy Commander: Xiahou Yuan Enemy Strategists: Cheng Yu Xun Yu Other Officers: Xu You Other Notes: It’s not really hard to perform the 3 Tactic Combo for the prize. Other than that, the generals here are not that difficult. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. Zhao Yun will then leave to save Liu Bei’s family. You will get a cut scene of Zhao Yun charging into the sea of Cao Cao’s army. It’s time to go save him. -------------------------- C. The Rescue of Zhao Yun -------------------------- Objective: Occupy Yi Cheng within the time given Conditions for Defeat: Chang Ban is occupied or the set time runs out Cities to Capture: Yi Cheng Mystics: Chang Ban 1. Visit the mystic at Chang Ban and then make your way towards Yi Cheng. You will need to adjust your main army if you had Zhao Yun in it, because he is no longer in your army. The only city you can capture is Chang Ban, since the path to Jiang Xia no longer exists. It’s time to face off with Cao Cao. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Cao Cao’s Forces Battlefield: Yi Cheng Objectives: Defeat enemy commander Conditions for Defeat: Zhao Yun is defeated or allied commander is defeated or 30 days elapse Special Condition: Defeat all enemy units Enemy Commander: Cao Cao Enemy Strategists: Cheng Yu Guo Jia Other Officers: Cao Zhen Dian Wei Xiahou Yuan Xu Zhu Other Notes: In this battle, you will have to protect Zhao Yun. He has no tactics and can really only attack, so he should not be a front line fighter, as his defeat will mean the battle is lost. This battle is also a fight against most of Cao Cao’s most skilled officers, so it is probably the hardest fight you’ve had so far. To get the special prize, you have to defeat all the enemy units, so just try to confuse Cao Cao for now without killing him. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. When you have captured Yi Cheng, Zhao Yun rejoins your army and you resume your march to Jiang Xia. --------------------------- D. Turmoil at Chang Ban Po --------------------------- Objective: Occupy Jiang Xia within the time given Conditions for Defeat: The set time runs out Cities to Capture: Chang Ban, Jiang Xia Mystics: Chang Ban 1. For this scenario, you may abandon your capital. This will make things easier, as you only have to worry about what’s in front of you and not what’s behind you. Still, you may want to leave a unit at the capital in order to gain experience for your secondary army. At this point forward, it’s best to have two armies at all times. That is because most of the battles after this point will have larger maps that have multiple ways to access your capital. You can’t attack and defend at the same time, like you could with the earlier maps. If you had Zhao Yun in your main army before the last chapter, be sure to put him back into your main army. Either way, you only have three turns to make it to Jiang Xia, so make your way to Chang Ban quickly. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Cao Cao’s Forces Battlefield: Chang Ban Objectives: Defeat enemy commander Conditions for Defeat: Allied commander is defeated or 30 days elapse Special Condition: None Enemy Commander: Xiahou Yuan Enemy Strategists: Cheng Yu Xun Yu Other Officers: Cao Hong Lu Kuang Yu Jin Other Notes: Xiahou Yuan is back defending Chang Ban after his earlier failure and he’s got more officers to back him up. Either way, this should be a quick, easy fight, due to the proximity of the officers. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. Now, just make your way to Jiang Xia and you will have completed this chapter. However, at the end of this chapter, you will need to make a choice. You can either choose to ally yourself with Sun Quan and then attack Cao Cao together, which will lead to two more chapters and then the Three Kingdoms ending and is one part of unlocking Liu Bei’s Epilogue, or you can ally yourself with Liu Zhang, which will lead to a lot more chapters and a different ending. If you choose to ally yourself with Sun Quan, please continue reading the next couple of chapters. If you chose the second option, go to chapter G. --------------------------- E. Battle at Sun Jiang Kou --------------------------- Objective: Occupy Lu Kou within the time given Conditions for Defeat: Jiang Xia is occupied or the set time runs out Cities to Capture: Lu Kou, Wu Chang Mystics: Jiang Xia, Xia Kou 1. Every time I have played this chapter, I have received the Seven Star Sword from a Mystic at Jiang Xia, so that should be your first visit. The Seven Star Sword turns one of your officers into an absolute killing machine. Now, it’s time to make your way towards Wu Chang. Zhou Yu will question your actions, so it’s time to prove him wrong. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Cao Cao’s Forces Battlefield: Wu Chang Objectives: Defeat enemy commander Conditions for Defeat: Allied commander is defeated or 25 days elapse Special Condition: Defeat enemy commander in 10 days Enemy Commander: Xiahou Dun Enemy Strategists: Cheng Yu Xun You Other Officers: Cao Hong Cao Zhen Other Notes: Apparently, even though Zhou Yu said the place was a natural fortress, KOEI decided to make the battlefield flat and boring. Either way, it’s not hard to obtain the special condition, which is to make Xiahou Dun eat his other eye, for this very reason. The flat surface provides you the ability to rush your opponent or drag them out with a taunt. Of course, it’s always best to defeat everyone on the board first for experience and deeds, but if you’re running out of time to fulfill the condition, then it’s best to just lure out Xiahou Dun and destroy him. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. Now, it’s time to move on to Lu Kou. Of course, you can always spend the remaining turns at Wu Chang and let Cao Cao attack you for experience and deeds, but that’s entirely up to you. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Cao Cao’s Forces Battlefield: Lu Kou Objectives: Defeat enemy commander Conditions for Defeat: Allied commander is defeated or 25 days elapse Special Condition: Defeat all enemy units in 15 days Enemy Commander: Cai Mao Enemy Strategists: Chen Gong Xun Yu Other Officers: Xu Huang Zhang Yun Other Notes: For someone who did practically nothing in history, Cai Mao sure does show up a lot in this game as someone who did something. For this battle, you need to defeat everyone within 15 days to get the special prize. That should not be too hard, considering the fact that your enemy is lined up for you. Raise up your morale and then run into battle. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. Now sit back, relax, and watch Cao Cao’s army go up in pretty flames. -------------------------- F. Pursuit Along Hua Rong -------------------------- Objective: Take Hua Rong Dao from Cao Cao within the time given Conditions for Defeat: Jiang Xia is occupied or the set time runs out Cities to Capture: None Mystics: Wu Lin, Hu Lu Yu 1. There really aren’t any cities to capture on this stage. All of Cao Cao’s cities are blocked off. It’s basically just chase Cao Cao and look around for mystics in Sun Quan’s territory. For now, it’s time to hunt down Cao Cao. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Cao Cao’s Forces Battlefield: Wu Lin Objectives: Defeat enemy commander Conditions for Defeat: Allied commander is defeated or 20 days elapse Special Condition: Defeat enemy commander in 10 days Enemy Commander: Xu Huang Enemy Strategists: Jia Xu Xun Yu Other Officers: Cao Hong Chen Deng Zhang He Other Notes: This is a typical kill the commander quickly while making sure to destroy as many of the other generals as possible battle. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. After Xu Huang has been defeated, it’s time to continue to the chase of Cao Cao at Hu Lu Yu. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Cao Cao’s Forces Battlefield: Hu Lu Yu Objectives: Defeat enemy commander Conditions for Defeat: Allied commander is defeated or 18 days elapse Special Condition: Defeat enemy commander in 8 days Enemy Commander: Xu Zhu Enemy Strategists: Guo Jia Xun You Other Officers: Chen Zhen Yu Jin Other Notes: This is another typical kill the commander quickly while making sure to destroy as many of the other generals as possible battle. The time limit is shorter so you have to kill officers quickly. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. Finally, it’s time to face off with Cao Cao one last time. Lots of irony in this chapter. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Cao Cao’s Forces Battlefield: Hua Rong Dao Objectives: Defeat enemy commander Conditions for Defeat: Allied commander is defeated or 15 days elapse Special Condition: None Enemy Commander: Cao Cao Enemy Strategists: Cheng Yu Sima Yi Other Officers: Cai Mao Dian Wei Niu Jin Xiahou Dun Other Notes: This is the final battle of the scenario. There are quite a few officers to defeat and each one has a fair number of troops and tactics, but at this point in time, you should be able to out number your opponent and rout them. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4. Now, the only thing left is to just sit back and watch the ending. ------------------------- G. Skirmish at Chang Sha ------------------------- Objective: Occupy Chang Sha within the time given Conditions for Defeat: Jiang Xia is occupied or the set time runs out Cities to Capture: Chang Ban, Chang Sha, Chi Bi, Gui Yang, Jiang Ling, Ling Ling, Lu Kou, Wu Ling Mystics: Chi Bi, Luo Xian, Wu Shou 1. You get to this chapter by selecting the second option when you are at Jiang Xia. You start off the stage by getting both Zhang Bao and Pang Tong to join you. It’s best to have two armies, if not more. You will need one to take out Cao Cao and one to protect the path to the capital. Take Lu Kou and Chi Bi and then send your main army after Cao Cao’s cities. You can use your secondary army to defeat Wei Yan to give them some experience. Normally, at Chi Bi, is where I get the Entice tactic from Zuo Ci, so be sure to visit the mystic there with Zhang Fei. 2. When Cao Cao’s cities are eliminated, your back has been secured, so you can focus on taking over the Jing Province. You should take out the cities around Chang Sha before you face off with Han Xuan. Capture the cities of Wu Ling, Ling Ling, and Gui Yang. 3. Finally, face off with Huang Zhong and Han Xuan. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Han Xuan’s Forces Battlefield: Chang Sha Objectives: Defeat enemy commander Conditions for Defeat: Allied commander is defeated or 15 days elapse Special Condition: Complete a 6 Tactic Combo in 10 days Enemy Commander: Han Xuan Enemy Strategists: Huang Zhong Other Officers: None Other Notes: Guan Yu and Huang Zhong will start off the battle with a conversation that raises their morale. Now, you need to complete a 6 tactic combo, which should not be too hard if you set it up properly. Otherwise, this is an easy battle. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4. There will be a cut scene at the end of the battle detailing Liu Bei’s march into Liu Zhang’s territory. You will be fighting on a new side of the map, so you will not see the places you had captured in the previous chapters until much later in the scenario. ---------------------- H. Battle of Xi Liang ---------------------- Objective: Occupy Tian Shui within the time given Conditions for Defeat: Yong An is occupied or the set time runs out Cities to Capture: Tian Shui, Wu Du Mystics: Guang Han, Yang Ping Gate, Yin Ping 1. When the stage starts, it will be discovered that Ma Teng has been assassinated and Liu Bei has been blamed for it. Ma Chao is pissed and wants Liu Bei’s head. It’s time to set the kid straight. When the stage starts, you immediately get Guan Xing and Huang Zhong into your army. You have Liu Zhang as an ally, but that doesn’t mean much. Make your way towards Wu Du and face off with Han Sui or Yang Qiu. Most of the battlefields around these areas will have a lot of Hills, Forests, and Mountains, so making your way through the landscape will be more difficult. 2. With Wu Du captured, you can make your way towards Xi Liang and face off with Ma Chao. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Ma Chao’s Forces Battlefield: Tian Shui Objectives: Defeat enemy commander Conditions for Defeat: Allied commander is defeated or 30 days elapse Special Condition: Complete a 7 Tactic Combo in 20 days Enemy Commander: Ma Chao Enemy Strategists: Ma Dai Pang De Other Officers: Cheng Yin Zhang Heng Other Notes: Zhuge Liang will try to talk some sense into Ma Chao, but obviously, that doesn’t work. You will need a 7 Tactic Combo in order to obtain the special prize for this stage. You have plenty of time to set the combo up, so it should not be too much of a hassle. Just make sure you use your tactics wisely. None of the officers on this stage should be too terribly hard to defeat, including Ma Chao. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. After you defeat Ma Chao, he wises up, which is a rarity for him. ---------------------- I. Rescue at Chang An ---------------------- Objective: Occupy Chang An within the time given Conditions for Defeat: Tian Shui is occupied or the set time runs out Cities to Capture: An Ding, Chang An Mystics: Shang Luo, Shin Ping, Wei Shui, Wu Zhang Plains 1. It’s time to face off with an old foe, Cao Cao. He has two armies outside of Chang An, so it would be best to take those two out first. Make sure you protect your capital or block a route to your capital with your secondary army. Cao Cao will probably make another army and send them out after you. The next couple will definitely be a step up from the last few battles, as Cao Cao has a lot of generals in his army. It’s best to take out Zhang Liao first. 2. When Zhang Liao has been beaten, make your way towards An Ding. If Cao Cao sends out another army, take them out first. Xu Huang is stationed at An Ding. 3. When An Ding has been captured, it’s time to go face to face with Cao Cao again. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Cao Cao’s Forces Battlefield: Chang An Objectives: Defeat enemy commander Conditions for Defeat: Ma Chao is defeated or allied commander is defeated or 20 days elapse Special Condition: Defeat all enemy units in 15 days Enemy Commander: Cao Cao Enemy Strategists: Deng Ai Xun You Other Officers: Cai Mao Xiahou Dun Yu Jin Other Notes: Ma Chao is surrounded and has no tactics, so it’s time to rush in and save him. Don’t use Ma Chao for much, because if he is defeated, you will lose the battle. There are a fair amount of enemies on this stage and most of them have a variety of tactics, so this should be the hardest battle you’ve come across, especially with the special prize condition. However, with the officers you have at this point, it shouldn’t be too hard. Just do your best to avoid killing Cao Cao until the end. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4. Ma Chao finally joins you, along with the rest of his followers. You now have all five Tiger Generals at your command. If you have an army with all five of them in your army, the five Tiger Generals will all gain a morale boost at the start of battle. In the meantime, with Cao Cao beaten down like a bad puppy, it’s time to move on to a new target. --------------------- J. Han Zhong Marches --------------------- Objective: Occupy Han Zhong within the time given Conditions for Defeat: Chang An is occupied or the set time runs out Cities to Capture: Han Zhong, Jiu Quan, Wei Xing, Wu Wei Mystics: Jiu Quan, Wei Shui, Yang Ping Gate 1. Zhang Lu will announce his intentions to take Xi Liang. It’s now time to take his lands before he takes yours. You will want probably 3 armies for this one, since there are multiple ways to get out of Han Zhong. However, you can protect the paths to your territories by just using three. Nothing Zhang Lu throws at you should be difficult, so you shouldn’t worry about not having good enough generals. After all, you did just get all of Ma Chao’s officers. Quickly surround Han Zhong with your three armies while using a fourth army to head towards Wu Wei. Also, don’t forget to pick up Jiang Wei. 2. When you take Yang Ping Gate (at least every time it’s happened to me, it’s been at Yang Ping Gate, Liu Bei will announce the five Tiger Generals. The five generals will gain 5 to their WAR stat. 3. When Wu Wei and Jiu Quan are firmly in your possession, face off with Zhang Lu at Han Zhong. Watch out though, as Zhang Lu has an ace up his sleeve. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Zhang Lu’s Forces Battlefield: Han Zhong Objectives: Defeat all enemy units Conditions for Defeat: Allied commander is defeated or 20 days elapse Special Condition: Defeat all enemy units in 10 days Enemy Commander: Zhang Lu Enemy Strategists: Wang Ping Yan Pu Other Officers: Guo Si Other Notes: Zhang Lu states that they have a plan, and boy, it’s a doozy. When the battle starts, if you want the special prize, make sure to send some officers towards the upper right hand corner of the map. When day one ends, Liu Zhang will send reinforcements...for Zhang Lu. Looks like someone got double crossed. Zhang Lu’s forces will all gain morale while your forces will lose morale. The officers that Liu Zhang sends as reinforcements are Deng Zhi, Fa Zheng, Yan Yan, and Zhang Ren. They appear at the upper right corner of the map. Now, aren’t you glad you sent some officers up there? You have 10 days to defeat all enemies, including the reinforcements. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4. I believe Liu Zhang has some explaining to do and I believe it’s going to happen right now. ----------------- K. The War in Yi ----------------- Objective: Occupy Cheng Du within the time given Conditions for Defeat: Chang An is occupied or the set time runs out Cities to Capture: Fu Ling, Jiang Zhou, Ju Lan, Wu Du, Yong An, Yong Chang, Yun Nan Mystics: Ju Ti, Mian Zhu, Wu Du, Wu Wei 1. Xiahou Dun starts a rebellion in the lands of Wei. What perfect timing. With Cao Cao preoccupied, it’s time to hunt down a backstabber. Zhang Lu’s officers are now available for recruiting, so pick them up. Cheng Du has four ways out. However, there are only two ways for Liu Zhang to get into your territory. Those are from Han Zhong and Wu Du. Make sure you guard Han Zhong and take Wu Du to secure your side. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Liu Zhang’s Forces Battlefield: Wu Du Objectives: Defeat enemy commander Conditions for Defeat: Allied commander is defeated or 25 days elapse Special Condition: Defeat enemy commander in 15 days Enemy Commander: Zhang Ren Enemy Strategists: Fa Zheng Li Hui Other Officers: None Other Notes: In the novel, Zhang Ren kills Pang Tong. In this game, he is sorely outnumbered. The land is heavily forested, so traveling might become an issue. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. Now, you will probably want four armies. Three of them will blockade Cheng Du while the fourth takes over the other cities around Cheng Du. Slowly make your way towards Cheng Du, eliminating any armies that may be in the way. Liu Zhang will probably have a lot of armies on the board, but none of them should be any problems. Make sure to not let any of Liu Zhang’s armies get into your area. 3. The areas you want to move to are Mian Zhu, Jian Ge, and Chong Guo. This will prevent Liu Zhang from being able to send any forces into your territories. On your way to getting Chong Guo, you should be able to take Yong An. 4. Start taking over Liu Zhang’s cities once you have Cheng Du surrounded. Make sure to get the other two vacant cities while you are at it. 5. When you have all of the cities you can grab, attack Cheng Du. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Liu Zhang’s Forces Battlefield: Cheng Du Objectives: Defeat enemy commander Conditions for Defeat: Allied commander is defeated or 20 days elapse Special Condition: Defeat enemy commander in 10 days Enemy Commander: Liu Zhang Enemy Strategists: Dong He Zhang Song Other Officers: Huang Quan Li Yan Meng Da Wang Lei Other Notes: This is a castle battle, which means it’s annoying. There are a lot of officers you will need to get through before you can get to Liu Zhang. The key is to attack from all sides. Just flood the openings with as many officers as you can get through and scale the walls whenever possible. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6. Now, once Cheng Du is in your possession, the rebellion in Wei will have been thwarted. Zhuge Liang will inform you that there are two ways you can go. You can choose to let Zhuge Liang to and attack Xiang Yang, or you can choose not to. If you choose to let Zhuge Liang go, please read on with chapter L. If you choose not to let Zhuge Liang go, then go to chapter O. -------------------------- L. The Strategist Embarks -------------------------- Objective: Occupy Xiang Yang within the time given Conditions for Defeat: Xing Shan is occupied or the set time runs out Cities to Capture: Xiang Yang Mystics: Xing Shan 1. When the chapter starts, you are asked to give Zhuge Liang a few officers. These officers will not be available the next chapter, so choose wisely. You do not want to put all your best guys in Zhuge Liang’s group. However, you also want to put enough guys in his group that he can survive the next battle. Normally, I give Zhuge Liang the sons of Guan Yu and Zhang Fei, as they normally have good friendship between each other and they can hold their own in battle. Also, give him a couple of your good generals, but not all of them. 2. Apparently, Cao Cao sends Sima Yi to help out Sun Quan. The next battle just got a little bit more interesting. There’s really not much to do, so attack Xiang Yang. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Sun Quan’s Forces Battlefield: Xiang Yang Objectives: Defeat enemy commander Conditions for Defeat: Allied commander is defeated or 15 days elapse Special Condition: Defeat all enemy units and win without losing any allied units Enemy Commander: Sun Quan Enemy Strategists: Sima Yi Zhou Yu Other Officers: Gan Ning Taishi Ci Zhou Tai Zhu Ran Other Notes: Sun Quan got caught doing the wrong thing. Anyways, the special prize is killing everyone without losing anyone on your side, which can be a pain considering your enemy. However, there is no time limit for that, which is a good thing. Hopefully, you didn’t skimp out on Zhuge Liang’s unit. Otherwise, it will be a long battle. Oh, did I mention how much I hate Awe II? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. Now that Sun Quan’s plans have been thwarted, I wonder what is going on with Liu Bei? ------------------------ M. Chang An Reclamation ------------------------ Objective: Occupy Chang An within the time given Conditions for Defeat: Cheng Du is occupied or the set time runs out Cities to Capture: Chang An Mystics: Jiu Quan, Tian Shui 1. Well, this is what happens when the strategist is away. Chang An has fallen to Cao Cao. Can’t let Cao Cao keep it for long though. You will need to quickly surround Chang An, as Cao Cao isn’t just satisfied with one city. He will start taking over a few more cities, so quickly make your way north. Take back any cities Cao Cao might have obtained. 2. Once you have taken your cities back, there’s not much left to do other than to take Chang An. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Cao Cao’s Forces Battlefield: Chang An Objectives: Defeat all enemy units Conditions for Defeat: Allied commander is defeated or 25 days elapse Special Condition: Destroy all enemy Depots and Towers Enemy Commander: Cao Cao Enemy Strategists: Cheng Yu Xun Yu Other Officers: Cao Ren Chen Gong Man Chong Xiahou Dun Yu Jin Other Notes: Apparently, Cao Cao caught wind of Zhuge Liang’s absence. At the start of the battle, Cao Cao will raise the morale of all of his troops. This will make the battle just a little bit tougher. Cao Cao has some good generals in this battle, but not all of his best, so that’s the only consolation, I suppose. Either way, make sure to knock off the towers and the depots before finishing the last unit. Try to take out the tougher enemies like Xiahou Dun first. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. There’s just one last battle against Cao Cao and it’s for all of China. ----------------------- N. The Courageous Hero ----------------------- Objective: Occupy Xu Chang within the time given Conditions for Defeat: Chang An is occupied or the set time runs out Cities to Capture: Every city on the map that you currently don’t have Mystics: 1. You will be fighting on the entire map of China for this battle. You pretty much have the western half of China and Cao Cao owns the eastern half. The thing that puts you at a disadvantage is that Cao Cao has already placed troops along the border of his lands. This will allow Cao Cao to roam at the bottom half of the map for a little while until you get forces down there to stop them. You will want to send a force south to where Cheng Du is and prevent Zhang Liao from doing too much damage. Also, you have to worry about the forces at Wan and Xin Ye. This is where your main force should go first, as the forces close to your capital aren’t as dangerous as the armies at the center of the map. Make sure you leave a unit at Chang An to protect it. There aren’t any real hard battles, just a lot of them. Always try to get Cao Cao’s officers to defect to your side, as the less officers he has, the more you have. Plus, it’s always nice to lure an officer like Sima Yi away from him. 2. Once you have the middle under control and Zhang Liao taken out from the south, you can start to take over cities in the south and start defeating Cao Cao’s armies in the north. You will want to start with that line of cities heading straight to Chang An’s doorstep. This will help temporarily halt the movement of Cao Cao’s soldiers straight to your capital. If you are looking to own all the cities of China, you will want multiple armies in the south. If you are just looking to make sure no one attacks you from the south, you only need one army patrolling that area. Again, it is purely optional to get every city, as the only city you need to take over is Xu Chang. 3. ######### -----------------------# #------------------------------------------------- Dynasty Tactics 2 # # FAQ/Walkthrough # # 4c. Cao Cao’s Main DT2WTCCM # # -----------------------# #------------------------------------------------- ######### Cao Cao’s Main scenario is unlocked by completing Liu Bei’s Prologue. This scenario has one branching point. You will follow Cao Cao as he rises in power in an attempt to tame the chaos and form his own dynasty. ---------------------- A. A Hero Amidst Chaos ---------------------- Objective: Occupy Xia Pi within the time given Conditions for Defeat: Xu Chang is occupied or the set time runs out Cities to Capture: Chang An, Cheng Yang, Chi, Dong Lai, Hong Nong, Ji Bei, Lang Ye, Lu, Luo Yang, Ping Yang Mystics: He Dong, Ji Nan 1. As soon as the scenario starts off, you are tossed into battle. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Lu Bu’s Forces Battlefield: Don’t Remember? Objectives: Defeat all enemy units Conditions for Defeat: Allied commander is defeated or 25 days elapse Special Condition: Complete a 3 Tactic Combo Enemy Commander: Chen Gong Enemy Strategists: Chen Deng Song Xian Other Officers: Hou Cheng Wei Xu Other Notes: It’s not hard to complete a 3 tactic combo. Just lure the enemy to your side of the field, set yourself up around him, and destroy him. Most of the officers you have to start off with like each other, so you’re bound to perform a friend tactic. You don’t have to worry about keeping the enemy commander alive while doing this, as the objective of the battle is to defeat all the enemy units, so this makes completing this special condition a lot easier. You may be outnumbered in the officer count, but you are not in the troop count, so use this to your advantage. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. There are a lot of civilians to obtain, and you will need a lot of officers for the coming battles, so get as many officers as you can get. You will want to lock Lu Bu into his castle and then use your secondary armies to capture the surrounding areas. There are a lot of cities to get. It’s best to capture as much of the map as you can get within the short time span. Also, even though you have Liu Bei, Guan Yu, and Zhang Fei, don’t rely on them or give them too much experience. Put them on guard duty at the Lang Ye that Lu Bu can escape from. They will not be in your army for long. To box Lu Bu in, capture He Cheng and Lang Ye. Lang Ye is vacant, but Cao Bao is at He Cheng. 3. Once He Cheng and Lang Ye are captured, make your way towards Li Jue with a decent sized army. He has two armies, but they are both small. You can attack Kong Rong with a small army, as he really only has Taishi Ci, who is a strong opponent, but can be taken down with numbers. Remember to try to pick up civilians. 4. Once you have captured all of the cities you can or want, then it’s time to defeat Lu Bu. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Lu Bu’s Forces Battlefield: Xia Pi Objectives: Defeat all enemy units Conditions for Defeat: Allied commander is defeated or 25 days elapse Special Condition: Win without losing any allied units Enemy Commander: Lu Bu Enemy Strategists: Chen Gui Zhang Liao Other Officers: Gao Shun Zang Ba Other Notes: Lu Bu, right from the start, lowers all your allies morale by 5 because Lu Bu is just that damn good. Quickly raise your morale back to normal and then head on out. Don’t let any of your units get defeated, as that will cause you to lose your special prize. The only officer you really have to worry about is Lu Bu, and he is easy to neutralize with confusion or other methods. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5. After the battle, Guan Yu will ask for Cao Cao to spare Zhang Liao’s life. Zhang Liao will become one of your officers. Now, that Lu Bu is gone, it’s on to Yuan Shao. ------------------------ B. The Battle of Guan Du ------------------------ Objective: Occupy Ye within the time given Conditions for Defeat: Xu Chang is occupied or the set time runs out Cities to Capture: Guan Du, Bai Ma, Ye Mystics: Ji Nan, Tong Guan 1. Liu Bei will leave your services and head north to Yuan Shao. Now, aren’t you glad you didn’t use Liu Bei very much? It’s now time to face off with the power in the north, the noble Yuan Shao. Sima Yi will join your forces before you face off with Yuan Shao. Quickly insert him into your main force as a strategist, as he will become a very able and powerful leader in the future. The only place that Yuan Shao can enter your territory is through Guan Du and Fan Shui Gate, so blockade those areas before you start off searching for civilians and mystics. Also, if you didn’t get the entire map the last time you went through the stage, you might as well do it now. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Yuan Shao’s Forces Battlefield: Guan Du Objectives: Defeat all enemy units Conditions for Defeat: Allied commander is defeated or 25 days elapse Special Condition: Defeat enemy commander in 15 days Enemy Commander: Xu You Enemy Strategists: Shen Pei Xin Ping Other Officers: None Other Notes: This battle should be quick and painless. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. When you defeat Xu You at Guan Du, he will inform you about the supply base at Wu Chao. Make a secondary army and use that to attack Wu Chao, while holding Guan Du with the primary army. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Yuan Shao’s Forces Battlefield: Wu Chao Objectives: Destroy all enemy Depots Conditions for Defeat: Allied commander is defeated or 20 days elapse Special Condition: Defeat all enemy units in 15 days Enemy Commander: Zhang He Enemy Strategists: Chunyu Qiong Gao Lan Other Officers: None Other Notes: This stage starts off with all the enemy units and supply depots surrounded by fences. Quickly break down the fences. They are destroyed in one hit. Now, quickly defeat all the enemy units. There are only four of them, so it should not be too hard. The battle is won when you have destroyed the three depots. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. After the battle at Wu Chao, both Gao Lan and Zhang He defect from Yuan Shao and enter your services, giving you two more very capable generals. Now, it’s time to make your way towards Bai Ma. 4. Once Bai Ma is yours, it’s time to take on Yuan Shao at Ye. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Yuan Shao’s Forces Battlefield: Ye Objectives: Defeat all enemy units Conditions for Defeat: Allied commander is defeated or 25 days elapse Special Condition: Defeat enemy commander in 12 days Enemy Commander: Yuan Shao Enemy Strategists: Feng Ji Guo Tu Other Officers: Ju Shou Yan Liang Yuan Xi Other Notes: This is a castle battle. You can quickly aim for Yuan Shao, complete the special conditions, and then defeat the rest of the units, since the objective is to defeat everyone. Yuan Shao, just like in the novel, doesn’t put up much of a fight. You’ll be fighting the stage more than you’ll be fighting his forces. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5. Once the battle is over with, Cao Cao will execute Yuan Shao. Now, you will have a decision to make. You can either attack Liu Bei or attack Sun Quan. If you attack Liu Bei, you will have two more chapters and then the Three Kingdoms ending, which unlocks Cao Cao’s Epilogue scenario. If you attack Sun Quan, you will have a longer path and a different ending. If you choose to attack Liu Bei, proceed to chapter C of this section. If you choose to attack Sun Quan, skip the next couple of chapters and go directly to F. -------------------- C. Assault on Xin Ye -------------------- Objective: Occupy Xin Ye within the time given Conditions for Defeat: Xu Chang is occupied or the set time runs out Cities to Capture: Bei Ping, Bo Hai, Jen Ding, Jiao, Jin Yang, Ping Yuan, Ru Nan, Shou Chun, Wan, Xin Ye, Yan Mystics: Ru Yin, Tong Guan 1. Cao Pi will enter your service as soon as the stage starts. There are a lot of cities to capture, mainly Yuan Tan’s cities. Leave your primary army at Bo Wang to prevent Liu Bei from advancing into your territory and then create a secondary army to attack Yuan Tan’s forces. You will want to create more armies to capture the vacant cities or those cities that don’t have any enemies in them. Also, make sure you recruit Yuan Shu, as recruiting him will allow you to recruit Ji Ling and then most of the civilians on the map. 2. Once Yuan Tan is defeated and you have recruited all of his generals, it’s time to focus on Liu Bei. First, fight Guan Ping at Wan to gain some experience. 3. Now, it’s time to face off with Liu Bei at Xin Ye. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Liu Bei’s Forces Battlefield: Xin Ye Objectives: Defeat all enemy units Conditions for Defeat: Allied commander is defeated or 25 days elapse Special Condition: Complete a 5 Tactic Combo in 15 days Enemy Commander: Liu Bei Enemy Strategists: Jian Yong Zhuge Liang Other Officers: Guan Yu Zhang Fei Zhao Yun Other Notes: Zhuge Liang starts off the battle by confusing your entire force. Fun. Luckily for you, the enemy will not reach you until the confusion wears off, but by that time, they should have raised their moral a little. After you gain control of your allies, you should focus on defeating the strong generals that Liu Bei controls, namely, Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, and Zhuge Liang. After that, the rest should be easy to defeat. Don’t forget to perform your 5 Tactic Combo. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4. Now, it’s time to move on to the next chapter. ------------------- D. Battle for Jing ------------------- Objective: Occupy Jiang Ling within the time given Conditions for Defeat: Xu Chang is occupied or the set time runs out Cities to Capture: Chang Ban, Jiang Ling, Jiang Xia, Yi Cheng Mystics: Chang Ban 1. Liu Zong surrenders as soon as the chapter starts. You get his officers. Also, Cao Xiu and Cao Zhen join your army. Now, make your way south towards Jiang Ling. Your first roadblock should be Guan Ping at Yi Cheng. Defeat him and continue to make your way south. 2. Next, make your way to Chang Ban. It’s time to take on Zhao Yun next. 3. Now, leave your secondary army at Chang Ban and send your main army to take out Zhuge Liang at Jiang Xia. 4. Get all the civilians you want and then face off with Liu Bei. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Liu Bei’s Forces Battlefield: Jiang Ling Objectives: Defeat all enemy units Conditions for Defeat: Allied commander is defeated or 20 days elapse Special Condition: Defeat all enemy units in 10 days Enemy Commander: Liu Bei Enemy Strategists: Xu Shu Other Officers: Guan Yu Liu Feng Mi Zhu Zhang Fei Other Notes: This battle is all about killing your enemies off as quickly as possible. You don’t have to worry about keeping Liu Bei alive on this stage. Guan Yu and Zhang Fei are the two generals that you need to worry about, but once they are defeated, the rest are easy. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5. Liu Bei will run off to ally with Sun Quan. Cao Cao will engage Sun Quan at Chi Bi, but his fleet will be burned and Cao Cao will lose. ------------------------ E. Redemption at He Fei ------------------------ Objective: Occupy Ru Xu Kou within the time given Conditions for Defeat: Xu Chang is occupied or the set time runs out Cities to Capture: Ru Xu Kou Mystics: Hai Ling, He Fei 1. Cao Zhang will join your army as soon as the stage starts. There is only one city that you can capture and only one other battle, so this is a short chapter. Quickly send your main force towards He Fei, as you are unable to attack Sun Quan from any other point. The way units are positioned at He Fei will cause your troops to be immediately thrown into battle, so make sure you’re prepared for a fight from the get go. Also, try to stay off of River and Shoal squares, as most of Sun Quan’s army has Flood. 2. When He Fei is captured, it’s now time to take Ru Xu Kou. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Sun Quan’s Forces Battlefield: Ru Xu Kou Objectives: Defeat all enemy units Conditions for Defeat: Allied commander is defeated or 25 days elapse Special Condition: None Enemy Commander: Sun Quan Enemy Strategists: Lu Su Zhou Yu Other Officers: Gan Ning Taishi Ci Zhou Tai Other Notes: For the final battle of the scenario, it’s Cao Cao’s finest versus Sun Quan’s finest. This is just a straight forward battle really. Some of Sun Quan’s generals hit hard, but not too hard. Gan Ning will always be a pain in the ass, as well as Zhou Yu. There are a lot of forest squares, so traveling can be a pain. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. Now, the only thing that’s left is to watch the ending. -------------------------- F. First East Wu Campaign -------------------------- Objective: Occupy Jian Ye within the time given Conditions for Defeat: Xu Chang is occupied or the set time runs out Cities to Capture: Bei Ping, Bo Hai, Jen Ding, Jiao, Jin Yang, Ping Yuan, Run Nan, Shou Chun Yan Mystics: Xiang Xian, Zhao 1. You start off on this chapter when you choose the second option, attacking Sun Quan in the south, after you have executed Yuan Shao. When the chapter starts, Jian Ye is really far away. Obviously, you won’t make it to Jian Ye quite yet, but you can always try. If you want, make a couple of secondary armies to head north towards Yuan Tan. It’s always good to get as many cities as possible. Have your main army take one of the vacant cities to the south. There are also a lot of civilians on the map right now, so it’s best to try to get as many of them as possible. 2. Sun Quan should have taken Shou Chun, so take it away from him by sending your main army to destroy whoever is there. Don’t forget to take away some of Yuan Tan’s cities. 3. Attack Huang Gai at He Fei and take away a couple more of Yuan Tan’s cities. A lot of officers in Sun Quan’s army uses the Flood tactic, so make sure to avoid standing around on River or Shoal spaces when fighting against Sun Quan’s forces. 4. When you take He Fei, Cao Cao and Guo Jia will have a conversation about supplies. You can already tell this campaign is not going to end well. 5. By now, you should focus on getting rid of Yuan Tan and hiring his officers. When Yuan Tan is defeated, you should be able to hire some of his former officers, which will lead you to hire some more of his officers, and so on and so on until there are none left to hire. 6. It’s time to attack Taishi Ci at Ru Xu Kou. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Sun Quan’s Forces Battlefield: Ru Xu Kou Objectives: Defeat enemy commander Conditions for Defeat: Allied commander is defeated or 20 days elapse Special Condition: Defeat all enemy units in 15 days Enemy Commander: Taishi Ci Enemy Strategists: Cheng Pu Lu Su Other Officers: Gan Ning Ling Tong Other Notes: You will want to do your best to not kill Taishi Ci until everyone else is defeated. Other than that, there isn’t much to this battle other than defeating everyone. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7. Once you have taken Ru Xu Kou, a messenger will tell Cao Cao that Ma Teng has been assassinated. Ma Chao is now one pissed off son. ------------------------- G. Intercept at Chang An ------------------------- Objective: Occupy Chang An within the time given Conditions for Defeat: Xu Chang is occupied or the set time runs out Cities to Capture: Chang An, Hong Nong, Ping Yang Mystics: He Fei, Tong Guan 1. When the stage starts, Cao Cao rips Sima Yi a new one. About time someone digs into him. Cao Cao will have to refocus his attacks north and ignore the south for a while, since Ma Chao has gotten out of pocket and has taken Chang An, as well as Ping Yang and Hong Nong. Use your primary army to take Hong Nong and a secondary army to take Ping Yang, although, if you want to give your secondary army some experience and deeds, you can use your secondary army to fight Pang De, since he isn’t that tough. 2. There really isn’t much else to do now except to retake Chang An from Ma Chao. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Ma Chao’s Forces Battlefield: Chang An Objectives: Defeat enemy commander Conditions for Defeat: Allied commander is defeated or 20 days elapse Special Condition: Complete a 5 Tactic Combo Enemy Commander: Ma Chao Enemy Strategists: Cheng Yin Ma Dai Other Officers: Yang Qiu Zhang Heng Other Notes: I love that line, “You have no right to seek revenge.” I would think that if my dad was murdered, no matter what, I would have every right to seek revenge, but oh well. Ancient China was a different time. As soon as the fight starts, Ma Chao will raise all of his officer’s morale, but that shouldn’t matter much, considering the fact that most of his generals aren’t that great. Just make sure you complete a 5 Tactic Combo during the slaughter. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. With Ma Chao out of the way, it’s time to go home, right? ------------------------ H. Eastern Wu Revisited ------------------------ Objective: Occupy Jian Ye within the time given Conditions for Defeat: Xu Chang is occupied or the set time runs out Cities to Capture: Dan Yang, Jian Ye, Kuai Ji, Lu Jiang, Lu Ling, Pan Yang, Shi Xin, Wu, Wu Chang, Yu Jang Mystics: Lin Hai, Shang Luo, Wu 1. When the stage starts, you get a nice video to show you just how determined Cao Cao is (or how much of an ass he is, one of the two). Either way, it’s time to march to Jian Ye again. Cao Pi will enter your army. Make your way to He Fei. Odds are, you’re going to lose Ru Xu Kou, so retake it. 2. Now, make your way to Dan Yang and defeat Huang Gai there (did I ever mention how much Gan Ning, or anyone else with Awe II, pisses me off?) 3. It’s time to move on to Lu Jiang and Wu Chang next, making sure to cover your rear with your secondary army. 4. Next, I personally attacked Sun Shao at Pan Yang and Pan Zhang at Yu Jang. 5. Now, move on to Lu Ling, Jian An, and Zhang An. 6. Zhou Yu is hanging out at Shi Xin, so make sure to pay him back for Chi Bi. 7. Take Kuai Ji and move on to Wu. In my game, Pan Zhang returned at Wu, but it could be someone else in your game. 8. After you take Wu, you will receive word that Ma Chao has joined forces with Liu Bei. Also, Liu Bei is trying to take Han Zhong. Since you’re already too deep into Wu, you might as well just finish off Sun Quan right now. Move on to Jian Ye for the final battle against the Sun family. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Sun Quan’s Forces Battlefield: Jian Ye Objectives: Defeat all enemy units Conditions for Defeat: Allied commander is defeated or 20 days elapse Special Condition: Destroy all enemy Depots in 12 days Enemy Commander: Ma Chao Enemy Strategists: Lu Meng Lu Xun Other Officers: Shang Xiang Zhou Tai Zhu Huan Other Notes: Jian Ye’s battlefield is a sideways castle battlefield, which makes it really annoying. As soon as the stage starts, Sun Quan will raise the morale of his men. Make sure you get all the supply depots before time runs out. Other than that, you will be fighting the stage to try to gain position on the enemy more than you will be fighting Sun Quan’s forces. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 9. After Wu is finally defeated, you have completed the very long chapter. Cao Cao wants to keep pressing forward onto Shu. However, Xiahou Dun has other plans. ----------------------- I. Rebellion at He Bei ----------------------- Objective: Occupy Yan within the time given Conditions for Defeat: Jian Ye is occupied or the set time runs out Cities to Capture: Bo Hai, Cheng Yang, Chi, Dong Lai, Jen Ding, Jin Yang, Ping Yuan, Yan, Ye Mystics: Chen, Ji Nan, Wu 1. Well, you have lost Xiahou Dun, Xiahou Yuan, Cao Ren, Sima Yi, and a few other officers. Also, you have lost the northern half of your lands. That’s what you get for being an ass. Oh well. Time to make a few armies and march north. Do not forget to recruit the remnants of Sun Quan’s army. They will help replace your old soldiers quite nicely. You will definitely want two armies for this stage, as Xiahou Dun’s territory is pretty big. Send one to the eastern part of Xiahou Dun’s territory and one to the western part. Odds are, you will lose quite a few cities while heading north. Just retake your cities and destroy the armies that are doing them. Any battles you run into should be really easy. 2. You should be able to start at Ye and Dong Lai and work your way towards the middle with your two armies, while recruiting the former Wu soldiers in the meantime. 3. When you take enough of Xiahou Dun’s cities, you will receive word that Liu Bei has taken Han Zhong and is now moving to take Cheng Du. Still, you need to finish off Xiahou Dun. Take the rest of his cities and then prepare for the final fight at Yan. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Xiahou Dun’s Forces Battlefield: Yan Objectives: Defeat all enemy units Conditions for Defeat: Allied commander is defeated or 15 days elapse Special Condition: Defeat all enemy units in 12 days Enemy Commander: Xiahou Dun Enemy Strategists: Sima Yi Hao Zhao Other Officers: Cao Zhen Other Notes: It’s time to beat down Xiahou Dun and Sima Yi for treason. If you had leveled up Xiahou Dun and Sima Yi, this fight may take longer than normal. However, you should still be able to out number Xiahou Dun and be able to take out all of his officers within 12 days. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4. Afterwards, you see the fate of Xiahou Dun and Sima Yi. ------------------------ J. The Western Campaign ------------------------ Objective: Occupy Chang An and Xiang Yang within the time given Conditions for Defeat: Xu Chang is occupied or the set time runs out Cities to Capture: Mystics: ######### -----------------------# #------------------------------------------------- Dynasty Tactics 2 # # FAQ/Walkthrough # # 4d. Sun Ce’s Main DT2WTSCM # # -----------------------# #------------------------------------------------- ######### In order to unlock Sun Ce’s Main scenario, you must first complete Liu Bei’s Prologue. Once this is done, Sun Ce’s Main will be unlocked. This scenario will take you through Sun Ce’s conquering of the south and the Sun family’s rule over the kingdom of Wu. ------------------ A. Sun Ce’s Stand ------------------ Objective: Occupy Jian Ye, Wu, and Kuai Ji within the time given Conditions for Defeat: Shi Xin is occupied or the set time runs out Cities to Capture: Dan Yang, Huai Jin Jian An, Jian Ye, Kuai Ji, Pan Yang Wu, Yu Jang, Zhang An Mystics: Chai Sang 1. As soon as the scenario starts, you are tossed into a battle with Liu Yong. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Liu Yong’s Forces Battlefield: Jian Ye Objectives: Defeat enemy commander Conditions for Defeat: Allied commander is defeated or 25 days elapse Special Condition: Defeat Taishi Ci in 15 days Enemy Commander: Liu Yong Enemy Strategists: Taishi Ci Zhang Ying Other Officers: None Other Notes: This should be an easy battle. None of the generals are terribly difficult to beat. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. When the battle is over, you’ve captured one of your target cities and also get Cheng Pu and Han Dang. I find it funny that Taishi Ci is not a civilian. Either way, get all the civilians you can and take over all the vacant cities. You won’t be attacked by either of the other forces because they are neutral. Once you have captured all the vacant cities, make your way towards Wu and Yan Baihu. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Yan Baihu’s Forces Battlefield: Wu Objectives: Defeat enemy commander Conditions for Defeat: Allied commander is defeated or 30 days elapse Special Condition: None Enemy Commander: Yan Baihu Enemy Strategists: Yan Xing Other Officers: None Other Notes: This is a basic battle against two easy opponents. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. You will be asked by Cao Cao to attack Yuan Shu. If you say no, there should be nothing that happens storyline wise. However, if you say yes, you will capture another city and fight two more battles for experience. Also, the battle at Huai Jin has a special prize during the battle and you get an item after the battle. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Yuan Shu’s Forces Battlefield: Huai Jin Objectives: Defeat all enemy units Conditions for Defeat: Allied commander is defeated or 20 days elapse Special Condition: Complete a 3 Tactic Combo Enemy Commander: Yuan Shu Enemy Strategists: Ji Ling Lu Fan Other Officers: Lei Bo Other Notes: When the battle starts, Lu Bu is surrounded by Yuan Shu’s troops. Well, surrounding Lu Bu is a bad idea from the get go. Lu Bu lowers the morale of the enemy. However, Lu Bu leaves the field and lets you do all the dirty work. Anyways, just make quick work of the enemy and get your 3 Tactic Combo. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4. Move on to Kuai Ji and Wang Lang. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Wang Lang’s Forces Battlefield: Kuai Ji Objectives: Defeat enemy commander Conditions for Defeat: Allied commander is defeated or 30 days elapse Special Condition: None Enemy Commander: Wang Lang Enemy Strategists: Yu Fan Other Officers: None Other Notes: Another basic, easy battle. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5. Sun Ce will announce his plans to go after Cao Cao. However, Zhou Yu doesn’t think it’s such a good idea. I wonder what’s going on? ------------------- B. Troubling Times ------------------- Objective: Occupy Wu within the time given Conditions for Defeat: Jian Ye is occupied or the set time runs out Cities to Capture: Wu Mystics: Lin Hai 1. We quickly learn the reasoning of the fight between friends. Also, Xu Gong has decided he wants to be his own country and defect. It’s time to teach him a lesson. There are a few more civilians to pick up, such as Zhou Tai, so get at them. Be sure to box in Xu Gong so he can’t take any of your cities. Your secondary army may not be that strong, but it should be stronger than anything Xu Gong can throw at it. 2. When you have gotten all the civilians you want, it’s time to attack Wu. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Xu Gong’s Forces Battlefield: Wu Objectives: Defeat enemy commander Conditions for Defeat: Allied commander is defeated or 20 days elapse Special Condition: Win without losing any allied units Enemy Commander: Xu Gong Enemy Strategists: None Other Officers: None Other Notes: If you manage to lose an allied unit in this battle, sell your game. Unless you did it on purpose, in which case, still sell your game. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. Afterwards, you will have a choice to either go after Cao Cao or go after Liu Biao. If you choose to attack Cao Cao, go to section C of the Sun Ce Main walkthrough. If you choose to attack Liu Biao, go to section G of this walkthrough. -------------------- C. A Fallen Brother -------------------- Objective: Occupy Dan Yang within the time given Conditions for Defeat: Jian Ye is occupied or the set time runs out Cities to Capture: Dan Yang Mystics: Pan Yang, Xin Du 1. Well, it looks like Sun Ce got jumped by Huang Zu. Notice that when you save the game now, it’s a picture of Sun Quan and not a picture of Sun Ce. Love the foreshadowing. Block of the way out of Dan Yang and then hire the new civilians that have appeared. 2. The only city to take is Dan Yang, so take it when you are ready to go. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Xu Gong’s Forces Battlefield: Dan Yang Objectives: Defeat enemy commander Conditions for Defeat: Sun Ce defeated or allied commander is defeated or 20 days elapse Special Condition: Complete a 4 Tactic Combo Enemy Commander: Huang Zu Enemy Strategists: Su Fei Other Officers: Fei Zhan Other Notes: The game says it’s Xu Gong’s forces, but we really know it’s Liu Biao’s forces. Sun Ce starts off the battle confused. You cannot let him be defeated, so try to lure out the enemies that are around him. Don’t forget to complete your 4 Tactic Combo. It should not be hard to perform, even with trying to baby-sit Sun Ce. Oh, and Sun Ce cannot be Revived out of confusion, so he’s basically just stuck sitting there doing nothing. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. Sun Ce has fallen. Hopefully, you didn’t invest too much time or effort into him. ------------- D. Vengeance ------------- Objective: Occupy Lu Kou within the time given Conditions for Defeat: Jian Ye is occupied or the set time runs out Cities to Capture: Lu Kou, Wu Chang Mystics: Jian Ye, Shao Wu, Xin Du, Wu 1. Sun Quan has taken over the army. It’s now time to get revenge of Huang Zu. You get Sun Shao and Lu Meng right away. There are more civilians on the field, so it’s best to get them first. Blockade Huang Zu with a secondary army so that he can’t get in and move Sun Quan to Wu. After one turn, there will be a conversation between Sun Quan and Zhang Zhao, telling Sun Quan to go to Wu. When you are able to visit the Mystic at Wu, there will be a student of Hua Tuo’s telling you that Hua Tuo has been kidnapped by bandits. Wonderful. Immediately head out and attack the Bandit Chief. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Bandit’s Forces Battlefield: Lin Hai Objectives: Defeat all enemy units Conditions for Defeat: Allied commander is defeated or 20 days elapse Special Condition: Complete a 5 Tactic Combo Enemy Commander: Bandit Chief Enemy Strategists: Bandit Bandit Other Officers: Bandit Other Notes: This should be an easy battle, as bandits normally are. Just remember to complete your 5 Tactic Combo before finishing off the last unit. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. When the bandits are defeated, you get Hua Tuo to help Sun Ce out. Unfortunately, this means that Sun Ce can’t participate in battle. Either way, time to get revenge on Huang Zu. Make your way towards Gan Ning at Wu Chang. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Liu Biao’s Forces Battlefield: Wu Chang Objectives: Defeat enemy commander Conditions for Defeat: Allied commander is defeated or 25 days elapse Special Condition: Defeat all enemy units in 15 days Enemy Commander: Gan Ning Enemy Strategists: Kuai Yue Xiang Lang Other Officers: Su Fei Other Notes: Keep Gan Ning alive until the rest of the units are defeated. Normally, I like to confuse him with a Fire Arrow or another weak confusing tactic, as his Awe II can get annoying sometimes. Other than Gan Ning, the rest of the officers should fall easily. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. After the battle, Gan Ning joins your army. The only place left to go is Lu Kou to fight Huang Xu (as Sun Quan calls him time and time again). ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Liu Biao’s Forces Battlefield: Lu Kou Objectives: Defeat all enemy units Conditions for Defeat: Allied commander is defeated or 25 days elapse Special Condition: Defeat all enemy Depots in 15 days Enemy Commander: Huang Zu Enemy Strategists: Cai Mao Kuai Liang Other Officers: Wen Pin Zhang Yun Other Notes: Just go out there and beat the hell out of everyone. One last thing: If you are going to put Gan Ning in your unit right away, keep him away from battle, as he doesn’t have any troops currently (because you beat them all out of him). Make sure you destroy all the supply depots. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4. After the battle, you get the Ancestral Sword, called the Sun Blade in this game. Now, it’s time to move on to bigger fish, namely, Cao Cao. -------------------------- E. Assault on Chang Jiang -------------------------- Objective: Take Gong An, Wu Shou, and Yue Yang from Cao Cao within the time given Conditions for Defeat: Lu Kou is occupied or the set time runs out Cities to Capture: Chang Sha, Chi Bi, Gui Yang, Jiao Zhi, Ling Ling, Lu Jiang, Lu Ling, Nan Hai, Wu Ling Mystics: Chai Sang, Luo Xian 1. You get a movie explaining what has been going on while you were fighting Liu Biao. Afterwards, Zhou Yu and Zhuge Liang start discussing strategy. Now, you need to get rid of Cao Cao’s army from three areas in order to force Cao Cao to attack Chi Bi. Shang Xiang will ask to lead an army towards the first target. Move your main army to Chi Bi to start off. 2. After Chi Bi, you will need to fight Xiahou Dun at Yue Yang. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Cao Cao’s Forces Battlefield: Yue Ying Objectives: Defeat enemy commander Conditions for Defeat: Allied commander is defeated or 25 days elapse Special Condition: Win without losing any allied units Enemy Commander: Xiahou Dun Enemy Strategists: Cao Pi Jia Xu Other Officers: Cao Hong Xiahou Yuan Other Notes: If you have Shang Xiang in your army when the stage starts, Xiahou Dun will start hurling some insults in the direction of Shang Xiang. She promptly responds to them with some of her own, which raises her morale. Now, just focus on defeating the enemy without losing any of your own allied units. Xiahou Dun is tough, but beatable. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. Zhou Yu will advise attacking the Jing army at the next point, so you might as well listen to your strategist. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Cao Cao’s Forces Battlefield: Wu Shou Objectives: Defeat enemy commander Conditions for Defeat: Allied commander is defeated or 22 days elapse Special Condition: Defeat all enemy units in 16 days Enemy Commander: Cai Mao Enemy Strategists: Liu Ye Zhang Yun Other Officers: Lu Qian Mao Jie Xu Zhu Other Notes: Cai Mao is pointless. Zhou Yu at the start will hit some of the enemies with a Flood tactic, confusing them. Zhou Yu’s morale will also go up by 30. After that, your goal is to defeat all enemy officers within 16 days, which shouldn’t be too hard, considering the fact that most of them are confused from the start and lined up nicely too. Just make sure to keep pointless Cai Mao alive until the end. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4. Now, you should spend this time capturing the neutral territories, while putting an army at Wu Shou to block Cao Cao’s path. None of the neutral territories should put up much of a fight. 5. Once you have captured all of the neutral and vacant territories, it’s on to Gong An to face off with Zhang Liao in the final battle of the chapter. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Cao Cao’s Forces Battlefield: Gong An Objectives: Defeat enemy commander Conditions for Defeat: Allied commander is defeated or 20 days elapse Special Condition: Complete a 5 Tactic Combo in 10 days Enemy Commander: Zhang Liao Enemy Strategists: Li Dian Xun You Other Officers: Han Hao Yue Jin Other Notes: There isn’t much special about this battle. It’s just a basic, normal battle. Just complete your 5 Tactic Combo at some point of the battle, which shouldn’t be too hard to get. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6. Now it’s time for Zhuge Liang to call forth the winds. ----------------------- F. The Winds of Chi Bi ----------------------- Objective: Take Mt. Ju Tie from Cao Cao within the time given Conditions for Defeat: Lu Kou is occupied or the set time runs out Cities to Capture: None Mystics: Chai Sang, Gong An, Jiang Xia, Lin Hai 1. There are a lot of sages teaching tactics on this chapter, so be sure to take advantage of that. The only place you can really attack is Mt. Ju Tie, so head up there and take that away from Cao Cao in the final battle of the scenario. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Cao Cao’s Forces Battlefield: Mt. Ju Tie Objectives: Defeat all enemy units Conditions for Defeat: Allied commander is defeated or 25 days elapse Special Condition: None Enemy Commander: Cao Ren Enemy Strategists: Sima Yi Xiahou Dun Other Officers: Xiahou Yuan Xu Zhu Other Notes: Gan Ning will up his morale at the start of the stage. You’re up against Cao Cao’s finest generals, so each general has something nasty up their sleeves. Respond first with your best tactics and try to confuse the enemy whenever possible. Don’t give them a chance to use their tactics first. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. It’s time to watch Cao Cao’s ships go up in pretty flames. ------------------------- G. First Battle for Jing ------------------------- Objective: Occupy Xiang Yang within the time given Conditions for Defeat: Jian Ye is occupied or the set time runs out Cities to Capture: Jiang Xia, Lu Jiang, Lu Ling, Wu Chang Mystics: Shao Wu, Wu, Wu Chang 1. To get to this chapter, you must choose to attack Liu Biao when given the choice during the second chapter. Liu Biao starts off with a big piece of real estate, but you will only be able to take some of it. First, attack Huang Zu at Wu Chang while taking your secondary armies and moving them towards the vacant cities. 2. The next battle should be Gan Ning at Jiang Xia. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Liu Biao’s Forces Battlefield: Jiang Xia Objectives: Defeat enemy commander Conditions for Defeat: Allied commander is defeated or 25 days elapse Special Condition: Destroy all enemy Depots and Towers in 15 days Enemy Commander: Gan Ning Enemy Strategists: Kuai Liang Kuai Yue Other Officers: Su Fei Yi Ji Other Notes: Gan Ning will talk trash at the start of battle raising his morale. Destroying towers can be annoying, but is required for this special prize. Gan Ning should be the only bothersome general, so confuse him to keep him out of the action. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. After the battle, Gan Ning enters your service and informs you that Cao Cao has intentions to attack you from behind. Time to strike Cao Cao. ------------------------ H. Surrounded at He Fei ------------------------ Objective: Take He Fei from Cao Cao within the time given Conditions for Defeat: Jian Ye is occupied or the set time runs out Cities to Capture: Ru Xu Kou Mystics: Dan Yang, Jiang Xia, Xin Du 1. It’s time to face off with Cao Cao. Sun Shao and Lu Meng will join your army at the start of the chapter. Also, there are many civilians to pick up, including Taishi Ci, so be sure to get them. You can only get Taishi Ci with Sun Ce, so be sure to have your secondary army protecting Dan Yang. 2. Make your way to Ru Xu Kou, where Xiahou Dun is waiting for you. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Cao Cao’s Forces Battlefield: Ru Xu Kou Objectives: Defeat enemy commander Conditions for Defeat: Allied commander is defeated or 22 days elapse Special Condition: Defeat enemy commander in 12 days Enemy Commander: Xiahou Dun Enemy Strategists: Jia Xu Mao Jie Other Officers: Dian Wei Xu Huang Other Notes: Cao Cao’s officers are a pain because he has a lot of good officers in his ranks (which is mainly why Wei/Jin eventually won). Cao Cao’s officers normally have a devastating array of tactics that can confuse you and damage you pretty good. Watch out for that. Try to defeat as many officers as you can while keeping time left to destroy Xiahou Dun within the 12 day time limit. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. Xiahou Dun will retreat and Zhou Yu cautions that it may be a trap. However, is it really falling into a trap if you know it’s a trap? It’s time to move on to He Fei, once you have gotten all the civilians you can. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Cao Cao’s Forces Battlefield: He Fei Objectives: Defeat enemy commander Conditions for Defeat: Allied commander is defeated or 25 days elapse Special Condition: Defeat 3 enemy units in 12 days Enemy Commander: Cao Cao Enemy Strategists: Guo Jia Sima Yi Other Officers: Cao Hong Cao Ren Xiahou Yuan Xu Zhu Other Notes: Cao Cao springs a trap at He Fei. Your allied commander will be in the middle of nowhere surrounded by some of Cao Cao’s best units. No worries though. You should be more than prepared for this. It’s time to show Cao Cao that no matter what traps you may spring, you can’t mess with the Sun family. The special prize is killing 3 enemy units within 12 days. However, you should be able to get most, if not all, within that time limit. Try to get rid of the two strategists first, as you don’t want Cao Cao’s forces using chain tactics with the stuff they have. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4. Well, you find out that all you were was a diversion to get Liu Bei to attack Cao Cao. Time to find a new strategy. -------------------------- I. Second Battle for Jing -------------------------- Objective: Occupy Jiang Ling within the time given Conditions for Defeat: Jian Ye is occupied or the set time runs out Cities to Capture: Chang Sha, Chi Bi, Gui Yang, Jiao Zhi, Ling Ling, Lu Kou, Nan Hai, Wu Ling Mystics: Jiang Xia, Pan Yang, Wu Shou 1. You will get a cut scene of Zhou Yu giving a lesson in strategy. Zhou Yu discusses his divided kingdom strategy, which in history, was thwarted by Zhuge Liang. The first step for Sun Ce is to take the Jing province. When you are able to move your forces, send your main unit to Lu Kou and your secondary unit to Yu Jing. You will probably want a third unit also heading out close to Lu Kou. 2. Head to Chi Bi with your primary army while using your secondary army to take out the neutral territories. Leave your third unit at Lu Kou to prevent anyone from getting into your territory. 3. Now that you have Chi Bi, you will want to have someone at either Wu Shou or Yue Yang on one side and someone at Hu Lu Yu or Wu Lin on the other side while you are taking over the neutral cities. 4. When all the cities you can capture are yours, attack Jiang Ling. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Liu Biao’s Forces Battlefield: Jiang Ling Objectives: Defeat all enemy units Conditions for Defeat: Allied commander is defeated or 25 days elapse Special Condition: Defeat all enemy units in 15 days Enemy Commander: Liu Biao Enemy Strategists: Kuai Yue Other Officers: Huang Zu Zhang Yun Other Notes: Sun Ce has some strong words for Liu Biao before the battle starts. This should be an easy battle, as the special prize condition fits well with the objective. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5. After the battle, Liu Biao talks some smack and Sun Ce and Zhou Yu discuss strategy. ----------------- J. Assault on Di ----------------- Objective: Occupy Mt. Xing within the time given Conditions for Defeat: Jiang Ling is occupied or the set time runs out Cities to Capture: Chang Ban, Mt. Xing, Yi Cheng Mystics: Kuai Ji, Lu Jiang, Mt. Ju Tie 1. Looks like Liu Biao is trying a flood attack from Mt. Xing. However, Sun Ce wants to use their own strategy against them. Apparently, Liu Bei is on Mt. Xing. When the chapter starts, Lu Xun joins, which will make a nice addition to one of your armies. Use your primary army to defend Yi Dao while using your secondary army to capture Chang Ban and Yi Cheng. 2. Once you have taken both cities, move on to Mt. Xing and go head to head with Liu Bei. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Opposing Force: Liu Biao’s Forces Battlefield: Mt. Xing Objectives: Defeat all enemy units Conditions for Defeat: Allied commander is defeated or 20 days elapse Special Condition: Complete a 6 Tactic Combo Enemy Commander: Liu Bei Enemy Strategists: Guan Yu Zhuge Liang Other Officers: Guan Xing Zhang Bao Zhang Fei Zhao Yun Other Notes: You’re up against Liu Bei’s strongest generals, so don’t take anyone lightly. Avoid getting hit with combos, as they will hurt. Try to get rid of the more powerful enemies and then focus on the rest. Since you already need to get a 6 Tactic Combo, make sure to unleash it on the likes of Guan Yu or Zhuge Liang. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. And Xiang Yang goes underwater. -------------------- K. The Night Before -------------------- Objective: Occupy Cheng Du within the time given Conditions for Defeat: Xiang Yang is occupied or the set time runs out Cities to Capture: Chang Ban, Mt. Xing, Yi Cheng Mystics: Kuai Ji, Lu Jiang, Mt. Ju Tie 1. There are four roads leading out of Cheng Du. However, to contain Liu Bei to the west, you only need to take two points, which are Jiang Zhou and Yong An. When you start fighting Ma Teng, you will want try to surround Cheng Du even more, but for starters, just focus on getting these two cities. There are also a lot of civilians out there, since you defeated Liu Biao. The key is Gan Ning. He will be able to recruit some of Liu Biao’s officers, which will cause the dominos to start falling. This will replenish your army and help you fill out the five armies you will probably need to completely contain Cheng Du. ######### -----------------------# #------------------------------------------------- Dynasty Tactics 2 # # FAQ/Walkthrough # # 4e. There’s a first. Don’t let any of your troops die, which should not be too hard, since this is the first battle. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. Lu Bu has taken over Pu Yang castle while Cao Cao was away. Cao Cao negotiates a truce with Liu Bei ------------------- B. Ending Officer Ranks DT2RANKS # # -----------------------# #------------------------------------------------- ######### When you complete a scenario, at the end, Xu Shao rates your performance. He then compares you to an officer, using these ratings. Here are the statistics he looks at: Avg. WAR, INT, and LEA: These are the average stats of your officers. Enemies Defeated: This is the amount of troops you have defeated in battle. Top Combo: This is the highest combo you performed during the scenario. Officers: This is the amount of officers you have obtained during the scenario. Special: This is the percentage of special conditions you fulfilled. Your WAR: This is the rating that Xu Shao gives you based on how well you performed in battle and how many officers you defeated. Your INT: This is based on the top combo you performed (I believe this is what this is based off of, it could also be based off of how many troops you defeated using combos). Your LEA: No clue what this is based off of. Once this is all calculated, Xu Shao will compare you to an officer. These are the rankings I got and how I got them. This is not the full list that I have obtained, as I obtained some before I started working on this guide, like Zhuge Liang and Zhou Yu. --------- Chen Gong --------- Prize: Feather Fan Your WAR: 45 Your INT: 62 Your LEA: 43 ----- Lu Bu ----- Prize: Crescent Your WAR: 76 Your INT: 68 Your LEA: 22 -------- Sun Quan -------- Prize: Lao Tzu Your WAR: 33 Your INT: 56 Your LEA: 100 ######### -----------------------# #------------------------------------------------- Dynasty Tactics 2 # # FAQ/Walkthrough # # 8. FAQs DT2FREQU # # -----------------------# #------------------------------------------------- ######### Q. I own a cheat website named www.randomcheatsiteonlyvisitedbytwopeople.com and I was wondering can I put your guide on my site? A. Okay, this FAQ is going up right now. The answer will be no 99 times out of 100. GameFAQs right now is the only place that this guide will be allowed. No, I don’t care how many visitors your site gets. No, I don’t want your super duper ultra mega membership package. I only have the time to keep up with one website, not 200. While I do want to help as many people as possible, I’ve been to other FAQ websites. None of them can come even close to the presentation and the professionalism that GameFAQs has. None. And no, I don’t care to visit your website either. If you send me an e-mail asking if I would like to put my guide on your website, I will most likely respond with 3 characters: No. ######### -----------------------# #------------------------------------------------- Dynasty Tactics 2 # # FAQ/Walkthrough # # 9.
